Yes there were historically black Egyptians because of Nubians but a lot of ancient Egyptians also were not black, even pre dating Arab colonization.

Coptic Egyptians (the original Egyptians) are not black I would know I’m around like 1/4th and my mom is like half and also doesn’t look black. Tbf she is also half Arab but still.

it's also kind of a bad reading of the situation. as you said, white people have more power in society because it was designed that way for the convenience of people who were already white. and the majority of power Is held by white people! but the majority of white people do not hold power. they may have more than people of color - less obstacles and more opportunities - but whiteness does not save you from the wider issue of class oppression, nor the oppression of your Other traits that those in power dislike. being white doesn't 'make up' for you being gay, or poor, or homeless, or a woman, or trans, or nonbinary, or visibly autistic, or foreign, or non-christian, or illiterate, or anything else that you can still be pressed down for.

to treat whiteness as a source or even indicator of malicious power holding is to believe the lies that the powerful have told you. it's the same way that "Men" as a class have more power but the majority of men are still under the boot. the specific group of people who are to blame for our societal problems is extremely small; they use their wider aspects as excuses, to appeal to the majority - to make the people below them truly believe they have more in common with Them than with their own neighbors.

it is of course necessary to recognize and correct the places where people are made unequal for unfair reasons they can't change. but it is also necessary that we do this Without abandoning the idea that everyone is of the same base value and should be treated as such.

Like the way some online leftists talk you do kind of want to ask if they think having blonde hair or blue eyes is a recent mutation as of the last 2000 years

whiteness as a class is an invention of the British Empire

blue eyes and blonde hair have existed in ethnicities around the world (not even what we think of as European) for as long as there's been writing

the Roman upper class thought of blonde hair as exotic

like the attachment of privileges to light skin color is based on the fact that it was convenient for British people, that's WHY the oppression of Black and brown folks is fucking stupid, it's not because white people are uniquely horrible.
