i can understand why a dimension 20 fan would be turned off by critical role (overhyping getting people's expectations up, overtly defensive/rude fans, longer episodes, less one-shot or shorter campaigns that are standalone), but i never understood why a critical role fan would be turned off by dimension 20 until i watched the first episode of junior year and was greeted with tons of editing snapping between the table and the influx of ADR sound effects, them constantly breaking the fourth wall with meta jokes, brennan literally yelling half of what happens and it's like ohhhhh okay yeah now i get it. this would fucking terrify anyone who's only used to taliesin jaffe cracking a joke about an 80s film or laura bailey making a dick joke during one of matt's long in-character speeches set to softly lilting harp music.

So, remember when I was making compilation posts of covers and posters of my favorite Non-Disney animated movies? Well, turns out I still had a few just sitting there in my drafts, one of which includes covers and posters of one of my favorite Ralph Bakshi movies: Wizards. It’s a little…strange, but it’s got magical creatures fighting Nazis in a post-apocalyptic future, so you can’t go wrong with a premise like that! 😜

I’m glad we’ve moved past the “what were they on” response to anything moderately creative, but it is important to acknowledge that sometimes it’s obvious someone wrote something when they were on actual drugs and that’s okay too.
