HONESTLY. And everyone acts like that's the craziest thing they've ever heard. It’s so interesting to me to think about what the painted Dessendre family did before the fracture. How they functioned, what their jobs were. Obviously they were well off, the family estate being a legit mansion in old Lumiere. Grounds, maids, ski trips, expensive tastes. Verso moved out on his own at some point and lived above a bakery per one of his conversations with Maelle, which is very studio ghibli of him. The story is so compelling and dark that it’s easy to forget that there was a before for painted Verso as well. Before he knew anything was amiss with his family, his world. And he wasn’t the burnt-out soldier living in the middle of the woods looking for a way to end it, either. He was the son of a presumably rich and influential family, an heir to a fortune. I imagine he hated that in the moment, but he very much loved his family too and misses those times that he unknowingly squandered with them while things were peaceful. Uncomplicated. The opposite of what his life would eventually become.

Jax rambles

So in the latest episode it introduces ribbit. Jax’s friend it seems to look like and his only one I’m guessing (because of what Ragatha said). Based off some drawings of Ribbit I’m guessing he was also kind of a trouble maker like Jax or a bit devious maybe not so much but still. Jax seemed very close to Ribbit since when they are brought up Jax turns serious and shows a negative reaction. So I think Ribbit would also use this as a coping mechanism to keep his sanity like Jax but in the end it didn’t work out. Also think that Jax wasn’t that rude in the beginning but after his only friend in the circus abstracted he became borderline rude to others because he was feeling so many emotions at once for Ribbits abstraction. And how it shows that he lost his tail that he swore he had before he might have literally lost a part of himself when he lost Ribbit. I’ve noticed how wasn’t that aggressive in the beginning episodes but gradually increased because he may be starting to lose his sanity and since being rude to everyone seems not to be working (because everyone just ignores him) he’s starting to be aggressive too.

I think it’s because we as a fandom collective like the idea of non humans being able to do non human cute stuff (such as purring) for the fics and shipping and fluff.

Two other non humans that have had the purring headcanon bestowed upon them are the Disassembly drones from Murder drones and Amity Blight from The Owl House (I think this extends to all witches but I wouldn’t be the one to ask) Of course purring Pomni also springs to mind but she is a human. And it’s a whole different debate about whether she could do it given her circus body but I digress.

then again all three examples I’ve mentioned are also at least slightly traumatised so there’s that too…

I do find it really funny that the movie never once states or even implies that demons have the ability to purr and yet some random person on the internet was like "what if Rumi could purr" and the entire fandom went
