chapter 5 is forcing everything that fell under "future amy will worry about this" to the forefront and now...well its the future baby and present amy is Worrying about it

knights helping eachother in taking off their armor after a long day, sliding off gauntlets and unbuckling bracers, untying the strings on the padding, tracing fingers on the skin with reddish marks where it was the most tight, and bruises and sore spots around the neck and shoulders, and deep scars from past battles, briefly relaxing their stiff bodies, melting a little into each other's warmth, indulging in this moment of safety while they're not protected by steel plates and helms but their own company

I was thinking about how in the Sith Raised Anakin AU it would affect the other side of the characters, as in. Maul does get some positive growth by having little Ani around and even though they both know they, technically, have to kill each other when the moment comes (and it never does) there's still a mutual respect and fondness. Especially from Anakin's side because he was like a lost duckling and the least worst around was Maul.

So when in TCW Maul was going insane and said 'he's been groomed for this', in this AU that becomes 10x times more interesting because he's on the front seat and he's known Vader since he was just little scared Ani, and I can imagine him going "oh damn, this is Very Bad. Even for my standards.". And the most logical route would be want to try to help Anakin, but lol, i feel like he would just want to try to kill him anyways, but in this case it would be a mercy kill, or an attempted mercy kill.

HOWEVER this wasn't the point of this rambling, because I was actually thinking about Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan who as we all know didn't have the skills to be the parent of a hypertraumatized 9 years old boy. But this Obi-Wan has never had to deal with any of this, he has the trauma of Qui-Gon's death and living with that failure, but there wasn't any promise to carry on and no jealousy over Qui-Gon wanting to take a new padawan, and there wasn't any monumental task falling over his shoulders.

And all of this just makes me believe in this AU, Obi-Wan is just...much more immature. Like, he's almost exactly his same self as at the start of TPM. Like you wouldn't believe that's a 30-something years old, he still acts like the school's mean girl who's dating the mysterious jerk Maul, who's also the partial reason he can't fully go on because that jerk also killed his master

(no, is not real dating, is just a very 'oh My mortal enemy, i can't stop thinking about the moment i finally kill him ', but very gay).

So to summarize, Obi-Wan is just even more of a bitch in this AU, and probably isn't anywhere close of getting into the council, he didn't even kill Maul, what a loser (i love him)

I was planning to draw them in the order of most voted (thus Slias and Micah + Lavi and Elias happened first) but the next most voted for ones are Silas/Lavi and Silas/Ciaran

Here's a question: at what point is it acceptable to say that you hate a fic?

To clarify: not to tell the AUTHOR that you hate their fic, that's just being a dick. Rather, at what point can you rightfully tell someone "I tried reading the thing you recommended, and it wasn't for me". (Aside from "it contained a massive trigger / squick", which is valid and understandable no matter WHERE it happens.)

If you quit after a 1k prologue, you can't properly say that the story is boring; you haven't READ the story. Conversely, if you stick around for a 1mil+ epic and then complain that the entire story sucked (not to be confused with "they totally dropped the ball for the ending and it tainted the whole thing"), you sound like an asshole and/or troll because why did you keep reading it if you hated it.

I mean, it's also acceptable to say "I didn't find the beginning of the story to be particularly interesting, so I chose not to invest any more time into it", or "the story has gone in a direction that I no longer wish to read", but that's different.

Asking because I'd seen some negative comments (thankfully very few) on different stories I enjoy, and the "1k prologue" and "1mil+ epic" aren't arbitrary examples, they're actual things where people have said "this story sucks". And while my FIRST thought is "that's rude and you're an asshole", my SECOND thought is "you've read too little / too much of it to say that", and I wonder where that "second thought" point wouldn't apply.

When I did a road trip through Germany to Belgium, the instant change in the roads was hilarious.

The roads were rough enough that the glovebox and radio fell out of the 20 year old Ford Puma that I was in. Spending that part of the trip holding the car together is an interesting memory for sure!
