june vibes
damn i abandoned this monthly top 10 music of mine tracker thingy since last march. oh well!!! let's do this again. as always the song is rapidly changed one by one... i'm a seasonal listener...
Tumblr media
Let's start out with 夏霞 / Natsu-kasumi (Summer Haze) by Atarayo. The first time I listened to this duet of a song? Damn... It's ethereal. I like how both of the guy and girl vocalist blend and complements one another. Guess, it's about love in the summer. Purely from sound, it's somber and regretful. I'm reading the lyrics right now. And yes, it does reflect regret. The singer(s) reminiscent about the precious memories they shared one another in the summer, the fireworks, the festival, the confession. Not wanting to be hurt by those feelings, wanting to be wrapped in the haze of the summer. Aww... :-(
Second is なかよしステップ / Nakayoshi Step (BFF STEP) by kinoshita. I'm surprised this song got in, turned out I liked it that much! Kinoshita is a Vocaloid producer that's easily known for his high-paced, energetic and cheerful songs. This one is one of them. The video is also as cute, featuring Una and Rin doing this simple dance steps. Please. Purely from soung, it's about the joy of having a BFF (which I lack) so sing out the joy for my stead!!! The lyrics, is well. It's indeed about having a friend so close and having fun. AHHH the lyrics is so cute. "I know, I know It'll get through you. It's not just words! I'm putting this music together for you, tu-turu-tuu, a BFF melody." It must've been a precious thing to have, a friend... :-(
Flash Forward by Le Sserafim... I swear I've found this song just yesterday. How come it's sitting pretty at third, I don't know. I like this song mainly because it's something I'd listen rather than their more fierce and stronger song. Sakura also got a lot of lines, so it's a plus! The vibe is breezy and chill, and it seems about just, I don't know. Keeping some feelings to a crush kind of song...
Next is また夏を追う / Mata Natsu wo Ou (To Chase the Summer Again) by Atarayo. What's up with this group and song about Summer?! It may or may not be the sequel to Natsugasumi. It's also got similiar vibe, regretful and holding onto something. I think it's about, moving on after a breakup in Summer. The singer is the one who walked away, but they felt it need to be done. Though regretful, they still want to chase another Summer.
Tentang Rumahku by Dialog Dini Hari is one of the song I found on these Spotify spotlight someone made based on a book. This one, I found for Laut Bercerita's playlist. Before this, I was so shallow because I dismissed the song in my native language since they're usually sappy love song which I detest for no particular reason. But I figured I'd be open. And I'm sure there's always some song for each person. At first it reminds me of Mara's character. Her home which lacks an important someone. It also reminds me of Laut himself, perhaps a song fitting when he's deep down in the sea, reminiscing the dear family and home he grew up. Ahh... I need to read that book again. The lyrics are relatively simple to understand, and at the core of it, I think it's about home and how it's truly an important place where one grew and become theirself. A keeper of memories and all the important thing in the world. One can be happy at their home.
まるつけ / Marutsuke performed by Yano Shougo. It's the ending theme for the anime Given. I watched it few months back then, and contrary to popular's opinion I think it's hands down the best song out of the series. (I don't plan to watch the movie so, yeah.) The song is so powerful, and carrying the weight of sorrow in the same place. Reading the lyrics, I felt like it kind of tells a story of the singer with a big amount of doubt about, well, his feeling. Love, I assume. Love, unsure of how it can stay and how it can perservere. Knowing the context with the anime, it seems so depressing. Talk about the anime, I saw some manga spoilers and noped out. The anime itself is so angst-heavy and there's a lot of drama. I don't need more... (Also love triangle trope sucks...) but the song itself is so good. Mafuyu's VA is perfect fit for his hoarse and yet soft-ish kind of voice. Conveying the feeling of desperation and cries of help.
The way I stayed like 40 minutes writing all of this but I can't stay still for mere 10 minutes writing my thesis I'm💀 Okay, I'm going to make the rest quick.
Maigo Hanyuu is another Vocaloid producer with their characteristics of traditional Japanese sounds incorporated for their songs. 鬼の居ぬ間に / Oni no Inumani (While the Demon is Away) seems like it's telling a story about someone staying by another one's side... Wait... It's just a quick interpretation. It could be also about a story when someone is left behind by a passed away person, still, they lived for both of them. Though perhaps they griefed, unable to accept that the other isn't there anymore, hence, preparing meals for two, lamenting the time they spent in the world, can't help until the demon or death itself took them. Wow. Huh??!!?
Next is 阿吽のビーツ / Aun no Beats (Aun Beats), also a classic by Maigo Hanyuu. Angsty tragic pair of love, I assume... From the sounds alone, there's regret, longing, and desperation. "I held up my heart to you. Give it back someday, be gentle, okay? I really wanted to go back. Going back after this is fine too." What I loved about Hanyuu's work for this one, is the usage of English loanswords paired with the traditional Japanese sounds. It's!!!! It's so cool. I think this post described and analyzed the song well...
Next is 死んではいけない / Shinde wa Ikenai (You Musn't Die, stylised Don't Go) by Shimizu Kou. I spent like 10 minutes looking for lyrics for this song and I couldn't find it. Turned out it's because the song isn't simply Ikanaide in the original title... Oh well... The song is a vibe. Len, the vocal, is tuned well. It seems like it's a thematical song, so it tells a story. But I'm running out of time...
I really need to stop here. But Sparkling Daydream by ZAQ is the opening theme for the anime Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! I haven't watched it in forever. But it popper in my mind and it's still a banger. That's it!
That's for June. Wow! I typed a lot. WOW...

march vibes
woohoo it's another month of possible thing i want to do and track!! let's see how much of song i listen to the most do this month around.
Tumblr media
I think this month, I returned to mostly Japanese song again. I think the media I consume affect the song I listen to directly. Well, I guess song and music in itself is a media to consume too so! But. It's mostly new tunes too!
Brownie by Macico is honestly... I don't know what it's about LOL I looked up the lyrics and there isn't any about it, not even the original Japanese transcribe of the lyrics. It sounds really chill and cute though. I'll assume it's just a song about eating brownies (not sus)
I don't know how It's a Dragon Party got here??? It's a cute and poppy song with trumpets and all, about a dragon who does dragon thing, burning villages and killing people!! Hitoyama does a lot of these thematic and each song is usually self-contained story. I love when song is direct and just a fun way to tell a story...!
Wonder Neverland is a VTuber group song. I don't really watch VTuber (at least not anymore), they do a lot of music!! Be it company-mandated or self-initiated. The song itself gave me feel-good and cheer up feelings. I sort of get the gist with my weeb-level Japanese and it's a song to listen to when I feel down. I'm reading the translation right now. ;; And it sure is a hopeful song about dreams and trying again after mistakes, the ensemble vocal is good too...! Not to mention it's by kz too!
Selfish is an electro? pop? song, that I actually listen to a lot before. I'm glad I discovered it and that it exist in Spotify... I don't really understand what it's about. It seems like it's about a selfless person who feel the burden of it, perhaps someone said something about this person that made them feel upset or something. OH. Wait... I think it's told from someone regarding their friend who's so selfless, and that their friend doesn't really look at their own wellbeing first and foremost. It's as if they're saying, hey! be selfish for once, say what you want to say, listen to me! or something like that. I never thought about it like that before.
Dream Dream Yume Dream is basically a demo song for the Vocaloid Yumemi Nemu by NayutanSeijin! So it never really have an official MV or Youtube release. I found it by chance and I like it! Despite the weird pitchy vocal, it oddly fits NayutanSeijin aesthetic, with the whole planet and alien themes. After reading the translation of the lyrics, it seems like it's a character song for the character herself. It's aboud someone who loves sleeping so much because when they dreams, perhaps because when they dream they met someone they found dear with or just because they love the sleeping and dreams itself. It's a cute song!!
KA-GA-YA-KI-RA-RI-RA is a song from the franchise Love Live. I don't know anything about it except for the fact that I watched one of anime a loooooong time ago. It's a song by Kira and the Idol group Aqours! It's giving me crush K-Pop vibes, so cool! The vocaloid tuning is *chef kiss*, and the song itself seems to be about reaching out and spreading their songs?
11 vapor lamps is a super chill lo-fi kind of song? Pedestrian (the one who made this) have a theme!! And for this one... It's calming and giving some sort of regret-ish? Honestly from sound alone, it's a lonely song. Looking slightly at the translation, it seems like it's about someone after a breakup? Life seems mundane and repetitive, losing motivation and hope, and the city streets and lamps keeps reminding them of memories they kept. Perhaps?
Okay ngl, I'm lowkey burned out writing by this point. But PASTEL is another cute feel-good song!! I remember listening it when I was at the shopping center looking for something, mazariatta Pastel🎵 city is a Thai song about feeling alone in a big city? Something about, this city holds so much people living day and day and yet only you... Or something. I forgot! Though I fear, I still walk appears last month but it's still a heartfelt song as ever.
I don't have playlist so it's basically from shuffle and the song I recently added to Liked Songs but... This month has been pretty all over. I think it's good I'm rediscovering music I used to like and listen to. It felt like a proof that I've exist in the past and there's something about looking back at how I used to do:) anyway... be good to me April...!

february vibes
Ugh... I've wrote a bit of text BUT TUMBLR DELETED IT. Screw you... I've been thinking about wanting to understanding the songs that I'm listening to. So I figured out, why not track my top10 each month as I go while doing exactly that? I don't know if I'm going to commit to these self-initiated projects in my head and do it monthly but you know what, it's good to have ambition so I'll just do this one and see how it goes.
Tumblr media
SO! I actually started listening to Thai songs last month. I used to think that Thai words are a bit difficult and, how do I say this, it's foreign. Short things short, I found Tilly Birds and began listening to their songs. I don't know anything about music genres lmao but I like their songs.
thâa raw cəəkan ìik / Until Then is a really gentle and emotional song about, should I say, grief? A child felt after their parents left them. It's heartwrenching, and I think I teared up listening to this song while watching the MV for the first time. Understanding the song it dedicated to (the singer's parent) made it even more sad. I could only think that they're a strong person.
phûudiaw / The One is about someone that experienced lots of love, but ended up being tired of it. One day, he just realized he still wanted to love, but wanted to save his love for the one, making it his last love. I don't know why this is the one I listened to the most but it's a chill banger for sure. khɔ̌ɔhây thəə chôokdii / Send You Off is about moving on after an amicable breakup, I think, thus, sending them off. Pretty straightforward banger. Easy to listen to. khít (tɛ̀ɛ mây) thʉ̌ŋ / Same Page? is about someone's confusion after their partner seem to change and lose their feelings, hoping they could be on the same page still.
Hananikaze / Wind over the Flower is about a pair having unstable love, or a couple just facing conflicts in their relationship? Wanting to stay together but argued a lot or something. I'm lowkey a bit dumb to analyze the MV and lyrics alone lol but Avogado6 for the MV is a pleasant thing to watch. Ballet imagery, hand sign language, depressed Miku, what else can I ask for. This is also the first time the producer used Miku in AGES so honestly I've been looping the song for a while now.
Ippo.tsk... I've found this artist this month and I think it's a blessing. I loved the nostalgic sound from it. It reminds me a lot of Jin / kemu song. It's probably the instrumental though. It's really gentle and it's as if I get the feeling that things are going to be okay. I love that their song aren't love-centric. taste the rain is about someone facing hardship in their life, but telling the listener to keep moving forward. seeyalater stratocaster is an upbeat song, more on the bright one, if I had to guess, it's about resiliency, facing the world head on, working on bigger things, bigger dreams and wanting to see how hard work paids off. though i fear, i still walk is self-describing from the title alone, but I don't really know though, I get the sense that it's about the regrets before one passes away, and writing about how grateful they are for the people that they found dear that gave them the colors into their life. It's another gentle song. JKTmelts is... I guess it's about a citizen's cries to the government for the ruin of their city or nation as a whole. Is it talking about the sinking of Jakarta? I don't have better guess haha
Now, SHOCK! is a banger because Ayase honestly keeps making these bangers. I guess if I had to say, it's a song about someone unsure about their feelings but ended up giving in to love.
--------------------------
post-writing thoughts. i think this is just an excuse for me to write something again honestly💀 although my vocabulary is limited when describing songs, resorting back to banger!! it's cool!! sounds good!! but it's a good one!!! i feel like since there's a lot of song, i ended up skimming a lot although at first i did this because i wanted to understand the song better. then again, to be fair most of these are still love songs and i have a biased prejudice against love songs... either way these sounds good and i'm curious how it'll change next month👍

[ilike] pedestrian - CREATION
youtube
A song about an artist and how despite struggling, they still draw.
From 2:15! Translated with deepL
味気のない人生が 幾星霜暮らしているこの街で In this town where I've been living for many moons in my tasteless life…
携帯越しの数だけ 喜怒哀楽を積み重ねて I accumulated as many joys, sorrows and pleasures as I could on my mobile phone.
狭い部屋で描いていた デジタルの信号まだ送り続けてるのさ I'm still sending digital signals, drawing in my small room.

[ilike] whaledontsleep - to live
youtube
From 1:41! The official english title is to live, although literally it's titled 狂えない僕らは, lit. the we who can't go mad. Also Kujira is the producer name in Japanese. This one is actually his self cover of his own remix, of his own song. Again, translated with DeepL because I can't nihongo yet
僕が瞬きしなくなっても当然のように明日は来て 空に霞む群青と 変わってく未来 顔のない人形が歩いてる街に雷鳴が轟いたらきっと
Even if I don't blink anymore, tomorrow will come as a matter of course The future is changing with the hazy blue of the sky When thunder rumbles over the city where faceless dolls walk…
都会と呼ばれたその街は嘘が蔓延していた 新しい風の在り処を誰もが探してた 街角で誰かが泣いてた腫れた目を取り出して ポケットん中探った
That town called the city was riddled with lies Everyone was looking for a new wind. Someone was crying on a street corner, and I took out my swollen eyes. I went through my pockets.
