So, with the addition of 중력 to the qsmp, and even more KR ccs to come, I feel like it’s time to say it again; DO NOT LITERALLY TRANSLATE HIS NAME!!!

It’s okay to romanize it as ‘Jungryeok’, but please do not address him as ‘Gravity.’ I know we had this talk with 악어 (Acau) and to not call him crocodile, but I’m already seeing some people complaining about how hard his name is. It’ll take some time to get used to, but please please please call him 중력. If I had to give a guide on how to pronounce it, it would be like ‘jung-nyeok.’ It’s not one for one, but he’ll introduce himself and then you can base your pronunciation off of that.

You know, I don't think I'll ever get over how that one post I made about women as knights in history, made it all the way to Reddit only for a bunch of redditors to argue that women couldn't actually be knights because:

- "the term is gendered" (it's not, and feminine equivalents were sometimes created specifically for the purpose)

- "they didn't actually do things as knights" (who didn't? The Hatchet women fought the Moors. A few other Orders had women as masters of arms. Both martial and formal examples)

...and a few other reasons that come down to "I don't like imagining my manly men in steel had women in their ranks, girls have cooties".

And the reason I say this is because recently, Wikipedia updated their page on "Knight", specifically adding a section about women with the title of knighthood, and what function they performed. And I know: "Wikipedia is not an academic source"--but every academic institution will accept the sources and articles used to back up wikipages, which confirm what has been said.

Knights were sometimes women. 🤷

Why do comics change Damians' skin color. It's not even like different comic runs that go on at the same time, but comics that change his skin halfway through the series. An example of this would be Robin 2021, where he went from

Just look at him. Don't you just love how he looks from the nose to the eyes all the way to the to his height.

Then they change it to this

I'm sorry, but those are not the same characters. Yes, I know that is damian, and he acts like Damian, but what was the point of changing his design. No one else got a redesign besides Damian. If you can even call it a redesign since, the only thing they change is his skin and features.

And no hate to the artist, but DC has a really big colorist problem. In the beginning, Damian was murding again and returned to his roots. He looked like his Talia, but when he became good again, he looked like Bruce but with green eyes.

When Damian is evil or troublesome, he is usually depicted with darker skin, but when he is good, he has paler skin.

The same can be said about talia and other characters that turn lighter or darker depending on how their morality is depicted.

Can i point out that ochako never said she was getting rid of her feelings for midoriya?

Every time she mentions it, she's saying she's 'shoving them down' or something along those lines. Like when she fights with toga in S6, She says “Those feelings belong in my head!”

She's pushing them to the back of her mind and trying her best not to focus on them because she needs to focus on her hero work. Her crush never went away, and she still loves izuku, there's just more important matters right now (the war, for example.) that take priority over her feelings for him. And she acknowledges that.

She does, however, admit that she fell in love with izuku in her final fight with toga. (Before anyone argues, her saying 'fell' doesn't automatically mean she fell out of love. 'And then i fell in love with izuku midoriya' is the only way to write this to where it fits grammatically because she fell in love with him in like season 3. She didn't just fall in love during their fight or something. Saying “I fall in love” or “I am in love” doesn't make any sense when paired with her sentence.) She also says this:

This, depending on how you interpret it, means that ochako admires toga for being so open and honest about her feelings while ochako herself has trouble with that. She has trouble being open about her romantic feelings towards izuku. Which leads me to believe she will get a chance to confess and actually be open about them later on in the manga since it's something she struggles with! (⁠◍⁠•⁠ᴗ⁠•⁠◍⁠)⁠❤

Phil starting to call Tallulah 'mí niña' and 'my other child' makes me think about what's going to happen if Wilbur returns to the island- like I know Phil understands the situation here, he's not Tallulahs 'real' parent- and Tallulah obviously still loves her dad even though she never really got to spend time with him, hell she's spent more time with Phil than her own federation assigned father-

But if Wilbur returns how will things change? Will Tallulah still want to be around Wilbur like the old days? Will Tallulah still even trust him after all she's gone through with her father being not there for her? Phil's been there, Phils taken care of her and viewed her as his own since he met her- Phil's been there, been there to see her change, been there through everything and cared for her.

She probably views Phil as more of a dad then Wilbur at this point, right?

Wilbur probably won't even recognize his own kid if he were to come back-

Hey, all,

I have long been tempted to do a readthrough/commentary of the Hobbit/LOTR because other people did it* and I am nothing but imitative. As it happens I have had the immense good fortune to find a copy of The Hobbit for 50 cents at the thrift store** so I am tentatively planning a readthrough, which (if it comes to pass) will be over on my dreamwidth, and will start in January because I have so many other things going on in the Thanksgiving+Christmas season.

so why post about it now, well, for two reasons:

I would kind of like to talk about the different adaptations of The Hobbit in vidya games, comics and such, so if you know of an obscure one I would love to hear about it. I want to start collecting material and figuring out how to present it. (and if it goes well I might eventually do the same for lotr so go ahead and send lotr stuff too if you're willing)

and I have a related dilemma

I have not watched the peter jackson hobbit movies. And those suckers are long, all together, so if I decide to watch them, it might take me until january to get around to finishing all of it.

Now, usually, I am a very open minded and wonderful person (uwu) who doesn't decide how to feel about something before trying it. I stayed open-minded about the Ralph Bakshi movie! And I liked parts of it! However, I don't think I would enjoy jacksonhobbit. I have seen a lot of pieces of it floating around the Internet and it looks like everything I didn't like about the LOTR movies but without most of the things that made up for it. With that in mind, I at first wasn't planning to watch those movies before doing a commentary of the book, because it would take up quite a few hours of my life and my review would be mostly whining**. I don't think my perspective on those movies is oh so unique or insightful enough that a critique from me would elevate past whining and these movies are well known enough that anyone reading my posts probably has their own opinions already and I don't need to tell them what the pj hobbit movies are.

But on the other hand, without seeing those movies, my review would be somewhat incomplete. And maybe some people like whining. I don't know. Nostalgia Critic still gets a lot of views, guys.

TL;DR i thought I would subject the question to the gladiatorial arena of the tumblr poll. I might not do exactly what the poll says in the end but it gives me something to consider.

*I refer specifically to tolkien-feels and frodo-with-glasses who have already done this better than I will. I'm sure many, many other people have also done it, but those are the two accounts I personally read.

**i also found the two towers and rotk, from the same set! but not fellowship. like this post to increase my luck that i will somehow also find fotr from this same set, for fifty cents at the same thrift shop, weeks after finding the rest of the books. it sounds unlikely, but it was unlikely to find any of the series at that thrift shop, and here they sit on my shelf

*** i saw a comment once on youtube that said something to the effect of 'the pj hobbit movies arent great but I've never seen anyone complain about their depiction of gollum' and I just... have a feeling I could be the one to prove that statement wrong. And the thing is, that statement doesn't need to be proved wrong.

While reading the scott pilgrim comics I was excited when mathew patel came in because I was all like "omggg!!! desi rep!!!" but was kinda disappointed when he got very little attention. And the anime fixed that!!! I'm so happy he's getting sm attention now yippee!!!

Alright, I loved the Fiona and Cake finale, but at the same time where is Marcy?

I was really looking forward to Marcy and Simon having some kind of talk or a moment without dialogue and as much I loved this series it disappointed me on that front a bit.

No hate at all to the series, it’s amazing, I just wish that there was a specific moment like that in ‘Cheers’.
