Studies of a beautiful red kite released yesterday on the nature reserve having recovered from being found grounded on a grouse moor a few weeks ago, full of shot pellets and with a broken wing.

Amazing work by the vets, wildlife rehabilitator and all involved! Back in the skies once more <3

Jurassic June Day 4

Quite nearly forgot today’s upload. This is Serene. She was the original main character of Juracan’s Turf before I switched to Dragon. I’m still a bit sorry that she got retired. I liked her. Still do. 

Perhaps I’ll find another use for her someday.

the crowned eagle is a large bird of prey native to sub-saharan africa. this bird is considered, though smaller than the martial eagle, to be africa’s strongest bird of prey; they regularly bring down prey much larger and heavier, such as bushbucks and various monkey species. 90% of the diet is mammalian, but on occasion, the species also feeds on large birds and reptiles. like most african raptors, they are largely non-migratory and often stay within one range. adult crowned eagles are mainly brown and black; juveniles have starkly different plumage, with an off-white upperside. as in most raptors, females are notably larger than males.
