Aaron Judge can set a career high for: games played (157 in 2022, 157 current), ba (.311 in 2022, .325 current), obp (.425 in 2022, .461 current), slg (.686 in 2022, .708 current), ops (1.111 in 2022, 1.169 current). Homers would be a stretch but he's been hitting them lately so who knows (62 in 2022, 58 current)
He already set a new career high in: doubles (36), rbi (144), bb (133), ibb (20), hits (180), total bases (392)
Edited to update numbers (+correct typo)
He leads mlb in hr and rbi (and even if ohtani caught him in hrs, he has a big lead in the al). He trails Witt (.332) and Vladdy (.325) in ba. If he goes on a tear he *could* win the triple crown. Idk if that's likely, and the post season is the priority, but he's got 6 4 3 games to give it a shot.
No disrespect to Soto or Witt, but he's the al mvp hands down
Even if he doesn't hit another homer this is an absolutely unreal season (especially considering he was hitting under .200 in april)

Cubs move on from Seiya Suzuki’s interpreter and look ahead to second half of season
[original article]
The Chicago Cubs are making a subtle but potentially significant change coming out of the All-Star break, dismissing the interpreter who has worked with Japanese outfielder Seiya Suzuki through his first two-and-a-half seasons in the majors.
Toy Matsushita will no longer serve as Suzuki’s voice in interviews with American media, a team source said Thursday, framing it as an organizational decision to go in a different direction. Those responsibilities, which also included relaying messages from the front office and the coaching staff to Suzuki, will be absorbed by two Cubs staffers.
Nao Masamoto, a longtime Cubs employee who manages their Pacific Rim operations and major-league video system, will continue to support Suzuki. Shota Imanaga’s interpreter, Edwin Stanberry, will also assist in communications with Suzuki.
The Cubs will open the 2025 season at the Tokyo Dome with two games against the Los Angeles Dodgers (March 18-19), Major League Baseball announced Thursday, matching up two iconic teams on an international stage.
The biggest story of this year’s Seoul Series was the gambling scandal that engulfed Ippei Mizuhara, Shohei Ohtani’s interpreter. The Cubs, the team source stressed, are not dealing with a similar situation here.
The Cubs want to continue to be known as a destination for Japanese players and seen as a place where they can reach their full potential. Masamoto is so trusted that he remained good friends with Yu Darvish even after the Cubs traded the Japanese pitcher to the San Diego Padres following the 2020 season. Stanberry has done an exemplary job of accentuating Imanaga’s personality during interviews and helping him assimilate into the team’s culture.
Intentional is the oft-repeated description of how Imanaga built relationships with coaches and teammates. That was publicly displayed during the welcome-to-Chicago news conference where he recited the lyrics to “Go Cubs Go.” Behind the scenes, it also involved keeping some distance from his interpreter and strengthening his sense of independence.
A rookie only by major-league standards, Imanaga, 30, pitched a scoreless inning in the All-Star Game. He’s 8-2 with a 2.97 ERA through 17 starts, making his four-year, $53 million contract look like one of the most prescient signings from last winter. He’s also on the cover of Chicago Magazine’s recently released “Best of” issue.
Imanaga has also benefitted from the team’s learning curve with Suzuki, who signed a five-year, $85 million contract after MLB’s lockout ended in 2022. Suzuki is a supremely talented hitter and tireless worker who has dealt with some injuries and a weird issue with catching routine fly balls in right field.
When Suzuki is locked in, though, he can elevate an offense that has several weak spots. His mixture of power, patience, mental approach and contact skills are close to an ideal version of what the Cubs value in their hitters. Streamlining the communication could be a way for the team to make sure he’s confident and decisive.
Suzuki, who will turn 30 next month, is a good major-league hitter (.811 career OPS) who should be in the prime of his career. His first-half production (13 homers, 45 RBIs) was boosted by a hot streak in July (.321 batting average, .942 OPS) that lined up with one of the team’s best stretches all season. The Cubs (47-51) need that kind of performance to shut down any discussions about a sell-off at the July 30 trade deadline.

Who is the Highest-Paid Player on the Atlanta Braves?
Tumblr media
The Atlanta Braves are one of Major League Baseball’s most storied franchises, known for their rich history, loyal fan base, and consistently competitive teams. Over the years, the Braves have fielded some of the biggest stars in baseball, and with stardom often comes big paychecks. As of 2024, the highest-paid player on the Braves roster is first baseman Matt Olson, who signed a massive eight-year, $168 million contract extension in 2022.
In this blog, we will explore Matt Olson’s rise to prominence, the details of his contract, and his overall impact on the Braves, both on and off the field. We’ll also touch on how his deal compares to other contracts in MLB and what it means for the future of the Atlanta Braves.
Matt Olson’s Path to the Braves
Matt Olson was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the first round (47th overall) of the 2012 MLB Draft. A talented first baseman with power-hitting potential and superb defense, Olson quickly made a name for himself in the A’s organization. After spending several years developing in the minors, Olson debuted with the A’s in 2016, where his power and glove immediately impressed fans and coaches alike.
By 2017, Olson emerged as one of the premier power hitters in the game, smashing 24 home runs in just 59 games. His incredible slugging percentage (.651) and defensive prowess made him an invaluable asset to the Athletics. Over the next several seasons, Olson continued to solidify his reputation as a star in the making. He earned his first Gold Glove Award in 2018 and was selected for the MLB All-Star Game in 2021.
However, after the 2021 season, the A’s embarked on a roster overhaul, and Olson, who was approaching free agency, became a valuable trade asset. The Atlanta Braves, fresh off a World Series victory but faced with the potential departure of franchise icon Freddie Freeman, saw an opportunity to acquire Olson and traded for him in March 2022. Shortly after the trade, the Braves signed Olson to an eight-year, $168 million extension, securing him as the team’s long-term solution at first base.
The Contract: Breaking Down Olson’s $168 Million Deal
Matt Olson’s contract with the Braves is one of the largest in the franchise’s history. Here’s a breakdown of the key details:
Total Value: $168 million over eight years
Average Annual Value (AAV): $21 million
Duration: 2022-2029, with a club option for 2030
Signing Bonus: Olson received a $15 million signing bonus as part of the deal
This contract made Olson the highest-paid player on the Braves, surpassing several other stars on the roster, including Ronald Acuña Jr. and Ozzie Albies, both of whom are signed to team-friendly extensions. The deal was a major investment for the Braves, but one that they deemed necessary to secure a long-term replacement for Freddie Freeman, who ultimately signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Olson’s Impact on the Field
As the highest-paid player on the Braves, Matt Olson has lived up to expectations. Known for his powerful bat and elite defense at first base, Olson provides a combination of offensive and defensive production that is rare among first basemen.
Offensive Contributions
Olson is best known for his power-hitting ability. Throughout his career, he has consistently ranked among the league leaders in home runs, RBIs, and slugging percentage. His left-handed swing is tailor-made for Truist Park, the Braves’ home field, where he regularly launches towering home runs into the right-field stands.
In his first season with the Braves (2022), Olson hit 34 home runs and drove in 103 runs, solidifying his place as a key part of the team’s lineup. In 2023, he followed up with an even more impressive campaign, smashing 42 homers and driving in 120 runs, all while maintaining a solid .275 batting average. His presence in the middle of the Braves’ order provides protection for fellow stars like Acuña Jr. and Austin Riley, making the Atlanta Braves one of the most dangerous offensive teams in baseball.
Defensive Excellence
While Olson’s power-hitting gets much of the attention, his defense at first base is equally impressive. He has won multiple Gold Glove Awards, recognizing him as one of the best defensive first basemen in the game. Olson’s ability to scoop errant throws, stretch for outs, and make difficult plays look routine gives the Braves’ infield a level of confidence that is hard to quantify.
His defense not only saves runs but also keeps pitchers out of tough situations by turning potential errors into outs. For a team with championship aspirations like the Braves, having a reliable defender at first base is invaluable.
Olson’s Leadership and Influence
Beyond his on-field contributions, Matt Olson has quickly emerged as a leader in the Braves’ clubhouse. Despite being a newcomer in 2022, Olson’s work ethic and professionalism earned him the respect of his teammates. As the highest-paid player on the team, there are always expectations for leadership, and Olson has embraced that role.
His calm demeanor and steady presence provide a stabilizing force in the Braves’ locker room, especially during the high-pressure moments of a playoff race. Olson has been vocal about his excitement to play for his hometown team (he grew up in the Atlanta area) and his desire to help the Braves win more championships.
How Olson’s Contract Compares to Others in MLB
While Olson’s $168 million deal makes him the highest-paid player on the Braves, it is relatively modest compared to some of the mega-contracts handed out across MLB in recent years. Players like Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, and Fernando Tatis Jr. have all signed deals worth well over $300 million. However, Olson’s contract is still a significant investment for the Braves and reflects their confidence in his ability to anchor the team for years to come.
What makes Olson’s deal particularly valuable for the Braves is the timing. The Braves were able to lock him in at a time when salaries were continuing to escalate across the league, securing a power-hitting first baseman who is also an elite defender without having to break the bank entirely.
Conclusion: Olson’s Future with the Braves
Matt Olson’s arrival in Atlanta marked a new chapter for the Braves, and his performance so far has validated the team’s decision to make him their highest-paid player. With his power, defense, and leadership, Olson is a cornerstone for the Braves as they continue to pursue championships in the years to come.
As of 2024, Olson remains the highest-paid player on the Braves roster, and his long-term contract ensures that he will be a key part of the team’s future. For Braves fans, having a player of Olson’s caliber locked in for the long haul is a reason for optimism, as the team looks to build on its recent success and bring more titles to Atlanta.

Jack Suwinski: The Emerging Baseball Sensation
In the world of professional baseball, there are those players who come and go, leaving little impact on the sport. Then there are those who, despite their youth and inexperience, manage to make a name for themselves by demonstrating exceptional talent and potential. One such player is Jack Suwinski, the young slugger who has been turning heads and causing a stir in the baseball community.
Tumblr media
Born on May 17, 1998, in Elk Grove, California, Jack Suwinski is an American professional baseball player who currently plays for the Pittsburgh Pirates as an outfielder and first baseman. While he may still be a relative newcomer to the Major Leagues, Suwinski has already shown that he has what it takes to become a star in the sport.
The Early Days: From High School to College
Suwinski's love for baseball began at a young age. He attended Elk Grove High School, where he played both baseball and football. It was during his high school years that Suwinski began to make a name for himself as a talented athlete. He was named All-League and All-City his junior and senior years, and he even led his team to a section championship in his final year.
After high school, Suwinski went on to play college baseball at the University of San Diego, where he continued to hone his skills and develop as a player. In his sophomore year, he hit .316 with 10 home runs and 41 RBIs, earning him a spot on the All-West Coast Conference team.
Drafted by the Padres: A Dream Come True
Suwinski's hard work and dedication paid off when he was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 14th round of the 2016 MLB draft. This was a dream come true for the young player, who had always dreamed of playing professional baseball.
Suwinski began his professional career in the Padres' minor league system, playing for the Tri-City Dust Devils, Fort Wayne TinCaps, and Lake Elsinore Storm. He steadily climbed the ranks, eventually making it to the Padres' Double-A affiliate, the San Antonio Missions.
The Trade to Pittsburgh: A New Chapter
In 2021, Suwinski's career took a surprising turn when he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates as part of a deal that sent former Pirates' outfielder, Bryan Reynolds, to the Padres. This move proved to be a blessing in disguise for Suwinski, as he was given the opportunity to play at the Major League level with the Pirates.
Suwinski made his MLB debut on April 7, 2022, and quickly became a fan favorite due to his impressive performance on the field. He finished his rookie season with a .205 batting average, 10 home runs, and 31 RBIs in 95 games.
A Natural at the Plate: Suwinski's Unique Approach
One of the things that sets Suwinski apart from other players is his natural ability at the plate. He has a unique approach to hitting, which involves a combination of patience, discipline, and power.
Suwinski's patience at the plate allows him to wait for the perfect pitch, which he can then drive into the outfield for a hit or a home run. His discipline is evident in his ability to work the count and draw walks, which is crucial for a team's success. And his power comes from his strong, athletic build and his ability to generate bat speed and leverage.
A Team Player: Suwinski's Impact on the Pirates
Despite his young age and relative inexperience, Suwinski has quickly become a key player for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has not only provided much-needed power to the team's lineup but has also displayed a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn from his teammates and coaches.
Suwinski's team-first mentality has made him a valuable asset to the Pirates, both on and off the field. He has become a fan favorite in Pittsburgh and has helped to energize the team and its supporters.
A Bright Future: What's Next for Jack Suwinski?
As Suwinski continues to develop and mature as a player, the sky is the limit for his career. He has already shown that he has the talent and potential to become a star in the sport, and there is no doubt that he will continue to make a significant impact on the game of baseball.
In the coming years, Suwinski will no doubt face new challenges and opportunities, but with his natural ability, strong work ethic, and team-first mentality, there is no doubt that he will continue to rise to the occasion and achieve great things in the world of professional baseball.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Jack Suwinski is a young baseball player with a bright future ahead of him. Despite his youth and inexperience, he has already demonstrated exceptional talent and potential, both on and off the field. With his unique approach to hitting, strong work ethic, and team-first mentality, Suwinski is poised to become a star in the sport of baseball. As he continues to develop and mature as a player, there is no doubt that he will continue to make a significant impact on the game and inspire a new generation of baseball fans.

Minnesota Twins-San Francisco Giants Series Preview
7.12.24-Joe Ryan RHP (6-5) 3.29 ERA Vs. Kyle Harrison LHP (4-4) 4.24 ERA

The Twins At A Glance- The Minnesota Twins had a surprisingly tough series against the White Sox. They won two out of three games and have a (46-27) record since April 22nd, which is the best record in the American Leaague. They head to San Francisco to close out the first half. Matt Wallner has been on fire since his call-up. He is hitting .545 with two homers and three RBI in four games. Carlos Correa has hit four homers and seven RBI in July. The Twins offense is averaging over six runs per game in July. Willi Castro was named as an All-Star replacement for the injured Jose Altuve. He has been the Twins MVP with how many positions he's played. Joe Ryan will get to pitch against his hometown team on Friday. Josh Staumont has thrown 19 2/3 scoreless innings to start his Twins tenure. Brock Stewart walked two and struck out one in his first rehab outing with the Saints on Tuesday.
The Giants At A Glance- The Giants have mostly been a .500 team this season. They made a late splash by scooping up Matt Chapman, Blake Snell, and Jorge Soler in free agency. Chapman has been decent, Soler only has ten homers, and Snell hasn't been fully healthy until now. Heliot Ramos has really come on with fourteen home runs and forty-five RBI. He will be at the All-Star Game in Arlington next week. LaMonte Wade Jr. has been great with a .316 average and always seems to find a way on base. Patrick Bailey is one of the best young catchers in the game currently. Jung-Hoo Lee was having a solid rookie year before tearing his labrum in his left shoulder. The Giants rotation is geting healthy again as Blake Snell is back. Alex Cobb threw two innings in a rehab game for San Jose and Robbie Ray is close to a rehab start. The Giants bullpen has shouldered a lot of the workload and still have a 3.92 ERA, which is 14th in baseball. Taylor Rogers has a 1.93 ERA, Ryan Walker has struck out sixty-two over 48 innings of work, and Tyler Rogers has a 2.70 ERA. Erik Miller has emerged as a solid lefty out of the bullpen. Fridley native Sean Hjelle has been good out of the 'pen as well.
What To Watch- The Giants are (11-10) all-time against the Twins. The Giants won the last series in May of 2023 at Target Field. The Twins swept the Giants in August of 2022 at Target Field. The Twins haven't been to San Francisco since 2017. Joe Ryan is (2-0) with an 0.82 ERA in eleven innings against his hometown Giants. Chris Paddack is (1-1) with a 3.82 ERA in seven starts against the Giants. He has a 4.18 ERA in 23 2/3 innings at Oracle Park. Wilmer Flores and Mike Yastrzemski have homered off Paddack twice in his career. Blake Snell is (2-2) with a 5.97 ERA in six starts against the Twins. Kyle Harrison, Simeon Woods Richardson, and Hayden Birdsong have never faced their opponent. I love the new interleague format where you see every team in the other league.

Alonso also has 40 home runs alongside HOF legend
Alonso also has 40 home runs alongside HOF legend
Pete Alonso (29, New York Mets) has conquered the 40-homer mark of the season.
Alonso started as the fourth batter and first baseman in the home game against the Seattle Mariners in City Field, New York, on the 4th (Korea Standard Time), leading his team to a 6-3 victory with three hits (two home runs) and four RBIs in four at-bats.
It was more like a one-man show. Alonso hit a timely RBI with two outs and a runner on first base in the bottom of the first inning when he faced 0-0. He then hit his 40th home run of the season in the bottom of the third inning with a 2-0 lead over the left fence to a line drive. Seattle right-hander George Kirby's fourth curve was pulled to lead to a 385-foot (117.3m) long drive. Alonso is the third player to surpass 40 home runs this season after Shohei Otani (LA Angels) and Matt Olson (Atlanta Braves, 44 home runs). Kyle Schwaber (Philadelphia Phillies, 39) and Mookie Betts (LA Dodgers, 38) also approached 40 home runs, but Alonso's bat turned fiercely first.
Alonso, who made his big league debut in 2019, hit 40 home runs in his third season following 2019 (53 home runs) and 2022 (40 home runs). MLB Dotcom, the official website of Major League Baseball, said, "The only big leaguers who recorded 40 home runs three times in the first five seasons were Ralph Keiner, Eddie Matthews, Albert Pujols, and Ryan Howard. Two of them (Kainer, Matthews) entered the Hall of Fame (HOF) and the third player (Puhols) will soon enter, he said, shedding light on Alonso's record.
Alonso's bet didn't stop in the seventh inning. Seattle right-hander Trent Thornton hit his third four-seam fastball in the seventh inning with one out and no runner in the seventh inning, which was chased 5-3, and crossed the left-center fence. The distance was measured at 397 feet (121 meters). The 187th home run of his career. MLB.Com ranks Alonso fifth in the Mets' history home run after Darryl Strawberry (252), David Wright, Mike Piazza, and Howard Johnson. If Alonso stays in Flushing (Mets) for a long time, it is almost certain that he will become the Mets' all-time home run king in early 2025.
Alonso joined the Mets in the second round of the 2016 rookie draft, 64th overall. He exploded 53 home runs (120 RBIs) in 2019, breaking the record for the most home runs (52) in a season of MLB rookies achieved by Aaron Judge (New York Yankees) in 2017, becoming the NL Rookie of the Year. That year, Cody Bellinger (then LA Dodgers) set a new record of 39 home runs for NL rookies in 2017, and surpassed the single-season Mets record of 41 held by Todd Hundley in 1996 and Carlos Beltran in 2006. His career record is .254 with 187 home runs and 480 RBIs.

Trout delivers the boom against Dodgers
Tumblr media
ANAHEIM (News4usonline) - Mike Trout had only one hit in his four at-bats against the Los Angeles Angels in the second game of the Freeway Series played between the Los Angeles Dodgers and their Orange County neighbors. That one hit that Trout delivered came in the bottom of the first inning with a runner on base.     Trout got all of it and blasted a two-run home run off of Noah Syndergaard to give the Angels a quick 2-0 lead. The Angels would go on to beat the Dodgers, 5-4, at Angel Stadium. But the bigger story was Trout.

Freeman/News4usonline The three-time American League MVP, on the pitch that he smashed off of Syndergaard, looked very much like the deep ball threat he has been throughout his career. Coming off the World Baseball Classic, this is a big season for the Angels and for Trout. The Angels, with a healthy Trout and Shohei Ohtani, could do big things during the regular season. The Angels have been impressive with the second-best record in spring training, just behind the Kansas City Royals in the won-lost margins. But no one won’t be counting those games once the regular season starts. What will count is the team’s mental approach and how they perform during the regular season. And the Angels will count heavily on Trout doing what he has been doing in the past which has landed him multiple MVPs.

Freeman/News4usonline In 2022, Trout bopped 40 home runs. He managed to hit that many dingers in just 119 games. The nine-time Silver Slugger winner missed time last season dealing with rib cartilage inflammation. Hopefully, that malady is behind him. If so, Trout will likely be competing with Ohtani for the MVP award. Last season was sort of a rebound year for Trout, who managed to collect 124 hits and score 85 runs and drive 80 RBI. A healthy Trout translates into a lot more. In 2021, Trout was anything but himself, having played in only 36 regular season games due to a calf injury. So far, Trout hasn’t played much during spring training, mostly because he’s coming off playing for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. Trout batted .296 and drove in seven runs while leading Team USA to the championship game where they eventually fell to Ohtani and Japan. The focus now for Trout shifts to trying to lead the Angels to the postseason, something the team has not done in the past eight seasons. The last time the Angels made the playoffs was after the 2014 regular season. The expectancy for the ballclub this year is that Trout and Ohtani can take the Angels to the postseason level. With pitchers like former Dodger Tyler Anderson on the mound, the Angels have a real chance of attaining that goal. Anderson, who went 15-5 in his only season with the Dodgers in 2022, took his former team to task, going 5 1/3 innings with five strikeouts in picking up his second win during spring training.    Read the full article

“Bit rugged, Big Star!” / Manny Machado (San Diego Padres) / Major Leaguer resume Vol.57 / WBC Dominican Republic
 Major Leaguer resume Vol.57
WBC Player’s resume Vol.43:
Story:
Today's player's resume concerns the San Diego Padres' slugger, Manny Machado. He will commit to Team Dominican Republic in the 2022 World Baseball Classic.
The KAISPO's baseball analyst said, "Machado has been a top player since his amateur days and has become widely known as one of the best players since joining the Major. He has performed at a high level every year. In 2022, Machado batted.298 with 32 homers and 102 RBIs, competing for the NL MVP award. He is strong on the off-speed ball hitting and has the skill to deliver a batted ball into the stands with his wrist strength and hip rotation. He also captivates fans with his strong arm as a third baseman. I am sure he is a crucial player in the Padres' long-awaited World Series title."
Manny Machado, a well-known player as a high school senior, was selected by the Baltimore Orioles as the third overall pick, following Bryce Harper and Jameson Taillon in the 2010 MLB draft. He made his big league debut against the Kansas City Royals on August 9th, 2012, as a starting third baseman and batting ninth, going 2-for-4 with a triple.
Since the 2013 season, he has become a leading player for Baltimore, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the San Diego Padres and one of the greatest players in MLB. Machado has appeared All-Star six times, received the Gold Glove twice, and the Silver Slugger once.
The 30-year-old right-handed hitter has hit 30+ homers five years in a row since 2015. In 2020, the pandemic-shortened season,  Machado batted .304 with a .950 OPS, 16 long balls, and 47 RBIs for San Diego to win his first Silver Slugger. In 2021, he recorded .278 with 28 home runs and the National League's third most, 106 RBIs. In 2022, he marked a slash line of .298/.366/.531 with 32 homers and 102 RBIs and showed brilliant defense as a third baseman, competing for the National League MVP with Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt.
In his major league career, Machado has batted .282 with 283 home runs and 853 RBIs in 1445 games at the end of the 2022 season.

Minnesota Twins-Arizona Diamondbacks Series Preview
6.25.24-Joe Ryan RHP (5-5) 3.13 ERA Vs. Brandon Pfaadt RHP (3-6) 4.37 ERA
6.26.24-Simeon Woods Richardson RHP (2-1) 3.26 ERA Vs. Ryne Nelson RHP (5-5) 5.18 ERA
6.27.24-Chris Paddack RHP (5-3) 5.29 ERA Vs. Jordan Montgomery LHP (6-4) 5.71 ERA
The Twins At A Glance- The Twins started their long road trip off nicely by taking two of three games from the A's in their last trip to Oakland. They head out to the desert to face the Diamondbacks in a three-game series this week after a day off on Monday. Austin Martin has been hot since getting called up. He is hitting .455 in his past eight games. Carlos Correa has hit four homers and knocked in seventeen in June. Carlos Santana has produced with four homers and fifteen RBI this month. Royce Lewis has hit nine homers and driven in thirteen runs in June. The starting pitching needs to be better and was the last two games in Oakland. Bailey Ober threw a complete game on Saturday and Pablo Lopez threw eight shutout innings with fourteen strikeouts on Sunday. The bullpen has thrown one inning over the past three days and got some much needed rest. Josh Staumont hasn't allowed a run in 16 1/3 innings since getting called up.
The Diamondbacks At A Glance- The Diamondbacks are playing better baseball after a rough first two months of the season. They are (13-8) in June and return home after a road trip to DC and Philadelphia. Christian Walker leads the offense with seventeen homers and fifty RBI. Joc Pederson is having a good first year in the desert with ten homers and thirty-four RBI. Ketel Marte has been solid with fifteen homers and forty-three RBI. The D-Backs have been without Alek Thomas, who has been out with a hamstring injury. He should be starting a rehab assignment soon. Gabriel Moreno is out with a thumb injury. Merrill Kelly will be out until after the All-Star Break with a shoulder injury. Zac Gallen has been out with a hamstring injury. He was scheduled to throw batting practice on Monday. The Diamondbacks starting rotation owns a 4.66 ERA, which is fifth-worst in baseball. Jordan Montgomery was a late signing and has been terrible. He has a 5.71 ERA in twelve starts. The Arizona bullpen hasn't been much better with a 4.49 ERA. Paul Sewald has a 0.66 ERA with nine saves since returning. Ryan Thompson has been a good reliever with a 1.16 ERa. Justin Martinez has been good out of the bullpen as well.
What To Watch For- The Twins swept the Diamondbacks in early-August last year. Who would have known that the D-Backs would have made it all the way to the World Series. The Twins are (17-10) all-time against the Diamondbacks. The Twins lost two out of three games in their last trip to Phoenix in 2022. Joe Ryan, Simeon Woods Richardson, Brandon Pfaadt have never faced their opponent before. Ryne Nelson gave up six runs over three innings his only outing against the Twins. Chris Paddack is (2-3) with a 3.22 ERA in nine starts against Arizona. Joc Pederson has two career homers off Paddack. Jordan Montgomery has a 7.01 ERA in five starts against the Twins. Christian Vazquez has three homers off Montgomery in his career.

The trademark of the sky hook shot
The trademark of the sky hook shot
Tumblr media
As an American basketball player, his position was center. His real name was Ferdinand Lewis Alcinder Jr., but he changed his name when he converted to Islam. His trademark was the goggles shown in the picture and the sky hook shot, which was virtually impossible to block.
He was a permanent Lakers player and led the Showtime Lakers in the 1980s with Magic Johnson.
He played from 1969 to 1989, scoring 38,387 points in his career, the highest record in the NBA, and has not been broken until 2022.
Born in New York City in 1947, he played swimming and soccer in addition to baseball before basketball. He took basketball lessons from 1961 when he was 14 years old, when he was a member of the Power Memorial Academy (closed in 1984), by coach Jack Donahue (1931-2003). He has been outstanding since high school, recording 71 consecutive wins in high school, and he entered the prestigious UCLA in 1966 and won the NCAA Tournament for three years under coach John Wooden (1910-2010).
The rumor, which was passed down like a legend at this time, was divided into first graders and senior students immediately after entering the school, and the first-year team led by Abdulzaba overwhelmingly beat the senior team. The problem is that the seniors were the main members who won the NCAA playoffs just before that. It is quite a famous fact because of the popularity of slam dunk. Abdulzaba (then Lou Alcinder) entered the school in 1965 and his freshman season was the 1965–66 season, when UCLA won the tournament in the 1964–65 season, the previous season he entered. "They started the 1965–66 season and were number one in the country, but number two on campus," Abdulzaba said.
However, the team that lost to Abdulzaba at this time was the winner of the previous season, but it was not strong at all, perhaps because of the power leak of the seniors who graduated that year, including the ace named Gail Goodrich. According to the results of the 1966 NCAA Tournament, UCLA did not advance to the tournament, let alone win.1966 tournament results. Looking at the detailed results, the UCLA team at that time was 18 wins and 8 losses. UCLA roster for the 1965–66 season. Of course, Abduljava is not that great, but it is a bit ambiguous because the team he won was not that strong even though the team he won the previous season was the team.
By the way, the team that won in 1966 was a school called Texas Western, famous for winning the NCAA tournament for the first time as a black team, and Glory Road is a movie about coach Don Haskins and players who led the team. Introduction to the movie, produced by Jerry Brookheimer. Currently, the University of Texas Western University has changed its name to the University of Texas El Paso campus, and it still exists.
Anyway, Abdulzaba's college life, which debuted in the NCAA tournament after finishing his first year, can be explained in just one word. The best NCAA player of all time. It was Abdulzaba's time from 1967 to 1969 at the height of UCLA's seven consecutive NCAA tournaments. What a fraud unit it was, as soon as Abdulzaba finished his sophomore season, the NCAA made a rule against dunking. And the monster, who is banned from dunking, develops a sky hook himself.
Technically, Abduljava did not create Sky Hook. When George Mican of the Minneapolis Lakers, the predecessor of the Los Angeles Lakers, already dominated the league in the early days of the NBA, his favorite shot is a hook shot called to Hyundai. Abdulzaba also referred to this, and showed his unique form with his unique long-lasting visuals and high RBIs. Hook shots are basically shot with Big Man's arms stretched up, so the RBI is much higher, the shooting speed is faster, and it's much harder to block than regular shots, but the accuracy is significantly lower if you move away from the goalpost. However, unlike conventional hook shots, Abdulzaba's sky hook is shot using Abdulzaba's unique height and jumping power with his arms stretched in the opposite direction of the goal (not horizontally, but ↗ upward at this angle), so it is almost impossible to block the ball further by drawing a parabola. In addition, even if you block it from the back with a relatively low RBI, it is the same that it is impossible to block because the basic height is too high and rises quickly. It's such a unique shot that it's called a "sky hook" separately from the existing hook shot. As you can see from the shot scene, the hook shot usually doesn't draw the parabola very high because it feels like throwing it, but the sky hook draws a long and high parabola. Of course, this raises the level of difficulty to the extreme, because if a hook shot feels like putting the ball up, the sky hook is almost like throwing from the other side. However, Abdulzaba was able to make such a difficult shot with a high probability with his extreme fingertip sense, so he was able to use it as his main weapon. Other big men know that Sky Hook is powerful, but they can't use it because it's difficult to know. It is the same case as Michael Jordan, who used Faderway as his main weapon, which usually players should avoid because it was a tough shot. To sum up, there have been hook shots before, but it is the only one in NBA history to throw a hook shot like that.
The NCAA was able to avoid league destruction in a short period of time, but instead presented 20 years of disaster to the NBA's of disaster. Upon graduation, he participated in the 1969 draft and was named to the Milwaukee Bucks, which was founded two years ago as the No. 1 overall nomination. Then, of course, I won the Rookie of the Year award. At this time, NBA's rival league ABA also offered unconventional conditions to lure Abduljava, which is that it will make him debut in the team he wants. Something that has been treated enormously since the time of the draft.
He led the team to victory early in his second year as a member of the championship early on. This was the first win in Milwaukee Bucks history, which still has no presence. At that time, the Milwaukee Bucks were only in their third year and became the fastest winning club since their foundation, which has not been broken. He spent six seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, although his career has been very long and his days with the Los Angeles Lakers have been broadcast a lot. Oscar Robertson, who was about to retire, who was short of winning the championship, including being hit by Bill Russell and hit by Wilt Chamberlain, helped him win the championship.
But for Abduljava, who was born in New York, the largest city in the U.S., and spent his college years in Los Angeles, Milwaukee, a small city in the central part of the U.S., was simply boring to him. So after winning, I constantly ask the team to win and trade to my hometown team because I have done enough to do so. I knew the team would no longer be able to catch it, so I reviewed it positively. Originally, he wanted to go to his hometown of New York or New Jersey, but the trade card didn't fit, so the Milwaukee Bucks Front asks Abdulzaba for understanding and trades him to Los Angeles as an alternative. It's a video of what happened to Milwaukee Bucks after that. Still, Abdulzaba played more than 40 minutes every season for the Milwaukee Bucks for six seasons, making it 20-10 as if he was eating, and contributed greatly to the establishment of the new Milwaukee Bucks league, including their first final victory and second place in the 1973-74 season. On top of that, it was certain that it would go on a free contract if it was not traded. As Oscar Robertson, who led the Milwaukee Bucks to victory, filed an NBA complaint with John Harbliceck in 1970 to secure a free transfer of players who became the cornerstone of the FA system in 1976, Abdulzaba was highly likely to be a beneficiary of the FA system in the near future, even if he remained on the team since 1975. For this reason, the Milwaukee Bucks had no choice but to give up Abduljava. In fact, the NBA's free agent system was established after the end of the 1976–77 season, when the first free transfer was then Los Angeles Lakers guard Cage Russell. Russell signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bulls and made a free transfer. 사설토토
He then played as a key player after moving in 1975, and after Magic Johnson and James Wardy came in 1980, he left them to attack and became a goalkeeper for Runngan, who was dedicated to under-the-goal defense until the age of 41 (12) and played as a major player for the Showtime Lakers in the 1980s. It was an option for the Los Angeles Lakers until they got older and handed over the team leader role to Magic Johnson. Of course, even after Magic Johnson became the team's leader, Abdulzaba, who was in a half-court opens situation, was stable itself, so he scored 20 points by the age of 38 and recorded a 50% field pitch rate. It means he was a monster even when he was that old.

CSG Grades Iconic 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle Card Valued at Over $2 Million
Tumblr media
Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG®) is thrilled to announce that it has just certified two examples of the iconic 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle card, one of them valued at more than $2 million! Graded CSG 8, it is the most valuable card that CSG has certified since it launched in early 2021.
Fewer than 20 are graded higher out of about 2,000 in the world, including one that sold for $12.6 million in August 2022, setting a record for most expensive sports card at auction.
"It was an honor to authenticate and grade what is one of the most valuable cards in the hobby," said Andy Broome, Vice President of CSG. "This resounding affirmation from the collecting world follows CSG's monumental efforts to quickly become one of the market's leading third-party authentication, grading and encapsulation services. We look forward to seeing more cards of this caliber."
In addition to the Type 1 example graded CSG 8, CSG also certified a Type 2 example CSG 4.5. A card with that grade would be expected to sell for about $100,000 at auction.
On its certification label, CSG attributes the type of the Mickey Mantle #311 card. Minor differences, such as the direction of the seams on the baseball on the back of the card, distinguish the two types. To learn more about the differences, click here or watch the video below.
The Mantle card stands at the pinnacle of the sports collecting world for many reasons. In 1952, Mantle's All-Star career had just begun, and the world of sports cards was being revolutionized by a newcomer known as Topps Chewing Gum, Inc. Topps' ambitious 1952 set is widely considered to have set the framework for modern sports cards. Unfortunately, it did not sell well, resulting in an inglorious fate for high-numbered cards like the #311 Mickey Mantle. Legend has it that New York City-based Topps loaded unsold cases of these cards onto a barge and sent them to a watery grave.
Mantle played for the New York Yankees from 1951 to 1968, when they won seven World Series championships. He won the Triple Crown in 1956 (leading in batting average, home runs and RBIs) and the Gold Glove Award in 1962. Many consider the Hall of Famer to be the best switch hitter in history.
Increasingly, collectors are turning to CSG to certify some of the greatest sports cards in the hobby. CSG also holds the distinction of being the fastest third-party grading service to certify more than 1 million cards. Among the great cards that CSG has graded are:
· multiple high-grade examples of the 1986-87 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan rookie card · a 1952 Topps #261 Willie Mays card graded CSG 8 worth well over $100,000 · a 2003-04 Topps Chrome Refractor #111 LeBron James graded CSG Gem Mint 10 that realized $98,100 in a March 2021 flash auction through PWCC · a c.1922 Romeo and Julieta Cigars Jose Mendez graded CSG 2.5 that sold for $19,470 at a Hake’s sale in March 2022 · a 1977 Futbol #11 Diego Maradona graded CSG 4
Backed by the same senior management team behind the industry’s leading collectibles certification services (Numismatic Guaranty Company™, Paper Money Guaranty® and Certified Guaranty Company®), CSG has leveraged world-class expertise, advanced technology, innovation and operational excellence to quickly have the second-largest capacity of any third-party sports card grading service. Online tools such as Verify CSG Certification, the CSG Population Report and the CSG Registry give collectors and dealers free access to a large amount of helpful information that benefits the collecting community.

Red sox roster
Tumblr media
To be honest, McGuire and Plawecki just aren’t better options for the Red Sox than Hernandez. 277 with 11 long balls and 51 RBI in Worcester while performing very well defensively. In 2022, Hernandez is the definition of productivity. He’s yet to actually play in the bigs, though. The 24-year-old is on the 40-man roster and was on the taxi squad when Vazquez was shipped off to Houston. But, there is a catcher waiting in Triple-A ready to make an impact: Ronaldo Hernandez. That leaves them with limited options behind the dish now, with Reese McGuire and Kevin Plawecki. The Red Sox just traded away Christian Vazquez. Sure, he won’t get a lot of playing time this year with Boston but just getting him to Fenway and gaining that experience in the MLB will be crucial for his growth down the road. The Red Sox wanted to see Casas improve against left-handed pitching and he did before sustaining the ankle issue.Īt 6’4″ and 252 pounds, Casas is an absolute specimen. 263 with 10 homers and 34 RBI this season and although he’s dealt with some injury problems this season, it truly wouldn’t hurt to bring him up. He is a special talent who looks ready to make his mark in the show right now. There are already rumors swirling around that the 22-year-old could be promoted to the Majors as early as next Tuesday in order to salvage his rookie status for the 2023 campaign.Ĭasas currently ranks 28th on Baseball America’s top 100 prospects. It’s power-hitting slugger Triston Casas. But he’s also not the future at this position. That’s a big reason the Red Sox went out and acquired Eric Hosmer, a veteran with a proven track record. It’s clear Bobby Dalbec isn’t the long-term answer at first base. 2 star Red Sox prospects who must be on expanded roster Here are 2 prospects the Red Sox needs to call up in the coming weeks. After all, the organization still has some intriguing youngsters in its system waiting for the call. It’s an opportunity to give some youngsters a chance to contribute at the big league level and see if they can help Boston make a playoff push. With September inching closer and closer, that means the rosters expand. They’re at the bottom of the AL East with a 59-60 record as of Friday night and although the team is just five games out of a Wild Card spot, it just feels unlikely Alex Cora’s group will actually make the postseason because of their lack of consistency. Considering his resume, it’s unlikely to occur. The Boston Red Sox are not having a good year. The only thing he can do is start hitting before this happen. Sanchez is out of minor league options so he would have to be DFA’d in order to remove him from the 26-man roster. However, with an underwhelming start to his career with the Red Sox, they are probably just waiting for a better choice. Boston could certainly use a bench player like him on the roster. Players like Sanchez can win more playing time. as the next Red Sox player who gets designated for assignment. It’s only a matter of time before he joins Jackie Bradley Jr. He hasn’t hit this year in the opportunities he has gotten. Able to play multiple positions on the dirt, he’s a 30-year-old journeyman whose time in Boston is dangerously close to ending. Yolmer Sanchez isn’t offering the Red Sox much more than an infield option. 1) Red Sox roster doesn’t need Yolmer Sanchez Between now and September 1, expect these three to be on the roster bubble for the Red Sox. Not so unexpected will be these three players losing their roster spots. Who had them nabbing Eric Hosmer at the trade deadline? Actually alive in the American League Wild Card race, it’s very unlikely they will pull off a miraculous late-season run.īetween now and September 1, we can still expect the Red Sox to do some unexpected things. (Photo by Maddie Malhotra/Boston Red Sox/Getty Images)Įxpect these three Red Sox players to be gone from the roster by September 1.Īt the trade deadline, the Boston Red Sox bought, they sold, and they stuck with what they had.
