As a former teacher of both Early Childhood and Music I can't stress enough the importance of reading to your children on a daily basis. I preface this by saying that if you read to your kids they will be ELA geniuses in school. That is not always the case. Each child is unique and different in how they learn. It will allow them to hear a wide range of vocabulary words, excite the imagination, and create meaningful time with your kids. All three of my children have been early talkers, and my oldest two are both in advanced ELA at school. All three of them love books, and reading. I will use this blog to recommend some books as well as have some recorded reading sessions. I am a big believer in the classics. Encourage your children to enjoy reading, the outdoors, and limit their screen time.

What a good boon it is go have an app that makes screen time useful and also engages parents. @getlittnow is the app that I recently came across and the one I resort to regularly for reading out to baby Cheeni. Talk about the wide collection of Indian publishers - @pratham.books @tulikabooks @hornokpleasepune @duckbillbooks . You name it, and they have it on the app. The books are categorised well, over more than 15. They also have wide variety of options that makes your reading hassle free like the font sizing, zooming features .Most Importantly the preview feature that gives you a heads-up of what the book is about. In order to make the reading experience fun, they are given points or jugnus in getlitt lingo. There is also a book dare , a quiz kind once you are done reading. Matilda is 30. And it’s got me thinking about loads of stuff. Firstly how much I love books! I have, since forever, felt probably most happiest when I am engrossed in a book. Next that I love reading my daughters books. I have two young girls who never stop moving, singing, dancing and constantly driving me crazy. And yet every single night we lay in complete calm and engross ourselves in the magical world of books. This is the magic of a book. That I’ve always wanted to be a witch, the worst witch, Matilda, hermione granger, even Shannon Doherty in charmed. I would feckin love it. Probably also that I should of learnt about over eating from the little boy eating that chocolate cake. And finally that now I have packed off a child to school, thank you to all you Miss Honeys out there. Teaching our children to become lovely little adults and maybe hopefully getting Maisie to eat Pasta and not pick her nose in front of people! Happy birthday Matilda. #abc_minions This week recommended book, I bring you the fir tree. It's a cute story of a small fir tree tat wishes to grow tall as the others in the forest . It fails to rejoice the present and always keeps sighing that the others are being taken away. The book is supported by colorful illustrations. The story is short and easy read.
