One Shots
meet cute of the century (f a s) by @lovelyhan ✩♬ ₊˚. the last thing you expected when you volunteered at your city’s local animal shelter is to meet the hottest cat person in the world. now if only he’d just adopt one of them so you’d stop ogling him every time he drops by.
Midnight Appetite (s) (ft. mingyu) by @writeformesinpie ✩♬ ₊˚. You have found yourself in possession of an invite to the exclusive host club The Midnight Appetite. Within moments of walking into the establishment, one of the hosts sinks his claws in, staking his claim on you for the night. It isn’t long, though, before he adds another to your table. This isn’t how you thought your night would go.
class project (s) (ft. mingyu) by @smileysuh ✩♬ ₊˚. You’re less than enthusiastic about being paired with notorious frat boys Mingyu and Wonwoo for a class project. They make it a point to change your opinion of them... by being the ultimate meanies.
The Peephole (s) by @rubyreduji ✩♬ ₊˚. wonwoo can’t stop thinking about how he wants to ruin his roommate, the peephole in his wall isn’t helping tamper those desires either
homewrecked (a s) by @ncteez ✩♬ ₊˚. Wonwoo doesn’t seem to realize that you’re giving him the best option out of a relationship that doesn’t even involve you. With a cheating best friend on one side, and a loyal Wonwoo loving her from two hours away on another, you decide that home wrecking isn’t always a bad idea.
April Shower (f s) by @sluttywoozi ✩♬ ₊˚. Wonwoo meets a lot of people through his career as a travel photographer. Not one of them has ever made him want to stay in one place, until he met you.
wedding weekends with wonwoo (f) by @suhnshinehaos ✩♬ ₊˚. jeon wonwoo, the perfect man. kind, smart, successful career, and not too bad on the eyes. all his friends are getting married and everyone’s aunts, mothers, and family friends are trying to set him up with their friends, sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews at every wedding he attends. he’s tired of it. what better way to solve his problem than to employ your help, someone who’s having the exact same one?
penance (s) by @smileysuh ✩♬ ₊˚. You’re hyper-aware of the fact that all four of your lovers are just outside the confessional, that they’re listening in- it’s making your mouth dry, your palms becoming sweaty as you rub them against your dress. “When you last confessed, you mentioned greed and lust as your sins. Would you care to elaborate more on that?” The priest asks. “Maybe it will be easier, now that you’re amongst… friends.”
Loud Leather & Loud Thoughts (a f) by @bitchlessdino ✩♬ ₊˚. Hard to maintain a good acquaintanceship if it started off on the wrong foot, but Wonwoo tries to do just that, no matter how much you resent him from childhood. Now reunited as adults, you're questioning whether your negative impression of him has stuck since being away or have you grown up just enough to realize how much between the two you have changed?
Closer (s) by @hannieehaee ✩♬ ₊˚. after making it all the way to your final year of uni still having not experienced a single orgasm, you decided to take matters into your hands. your solution? asking your best friend wonwoo to teach you all he knew.
game on (s) by @ahloveisboo ✩♬ ₊˚. it’s been a shitty day and all you want to do is be close to wonwoo.
Chat, is that Rizz? (s) by @sailorrhansol ✩♬ ₊˚. Your rivalry with Wonwoo has existed for as long as you’ve been streaming. It’s fun, and both of your communities love it. Wonwoo is happy to play along - at least until you question his rizz while live, and he feels like he should remind you just how much rizz he has.

Pls, pls, pls I need more WLW book recommendations!!!
Adults, YA, spicy, soft, I don’t care. I just need wlw books because I want to switch from fanfics only to actual books as well
Okay, here we are, enjoy :)
Bright Falls Series by Ashley Herring Blake: 1. Delilah Green Doesn't Care -> Delilah Green swore she would never go back to Bright Falls - nothing is there for her except memories of a lonely childhood - but when Delilah's stepsister pressures her into photographing her wedding with a guilt trip and a large check, Delilah finds herself back in Bright Falls once more. She plans to breeze in and out, but then she sees Claire Sutherland, one of Astrid's stuck-up besties, and decides that maybe there's some fun (and a little retribution) to be had, after all. 2. Astrid Parker Doesn't Fail -> For Astrid Parker failure is unacceptable. When Pru Everwood asks her to be the designer for the Everwood Inn's renovation, which will be featured on a hugely popular home makeover show, Astrid is thrilled. However, Astrid never planned on Jordan Everwood, Pru's granddaughter and the lead carpenter for the renovation, who despises every modern design decision Astrid makes. Is she going to pursue the life that she's expected to lead or the one that she really wants? 3. Iris Kelly doesn't date -> Everyone around Iris Kelly is in love and she’s happy for all of them, truly. Iris doesn’t want any of that—dating, love, romance. She’ll stick to her commitment-free hookups. There’s only one problem—Iris is a romance author facing an imminent deadline for her second book, and she’s completely out of ideas. Perfectly happy to ignore her problems as per usual, Iris goes to a bar and meets a sexy stranger, Stefania, and a night of dancing and making out turns into the worst one-night stand Iris has had in her life. To get her mind off everything, Iris tries out for the lead role in a local play, a queer retelling of Much Ado About Nothing, but comes face-to-face with Stefania, whose real name turns out to be Stevie. Desperate to save face in front of her friends, Stevie asks Iris to play along as her girlfriend. Iris is shocked, but when she realizes the arrangement might provide her with some much-needed romantic content for her book, she agrees. As the two women play the part of a happy couple, lines start to blur.
Falls from grace by Ruby Landers -> Savannah Grace and her band were huge stars in Nashville. Now enlists Noah Lyman - an indie musician - to help her break out of country music and make a name for herself for once and for all. They have to spend the winter in Savannah secluded vacation home in the woods of Vermont, and Noah brings along his best friend Brynn Marshall and pretend she’s his wife? After all, what could possibly go wrong?
The secret of you and me by Melissa Lenhardt -> Nora hasn’t looked back. Not since she fled Texas to start a new life. Now she can live—and love—however she wants. The only problem is that she also left behind the one woman she can’t forget. Now tragedy calls her back home to confront her past—and reconcile her future.
Books by Haley Cass: - Those Who Wait and the follow-up Forever and A Day -> Spencer Sutton, the daughter of a congressman, and Charlotte Thompson, New York City’s youngest deputy mayor, meet on SapphicSpark, a women-seeking-women dating app. Sutton isn’t built for casual, and Charlotte needs to keep a low profile as the race heats up. In spite of that, a friendship blossoms as Charlotte helps Sutton navigate the dating world. - Down to A Science -> Ellie Beckett is a scientific genius finishing a Ph.D. at MIT, sitting on her stool at her favorite bar, putting the final touches on her thesis - her life is predictable and comfortable enough, until the night Mia Sharpe walks in to play pool with some friends and things are never the same again. and On the same Page -> Riley Beckett met Gianna Mäkinen their first year at Boston University, and it changed everything for the both of them. She knows Gianna doesn't do romance or relationships, and she knows nothing could ever come between them. But when a holiday party mix-up sets in motion a domino effect of changes, Riley has to question everything she thought she knew about their relationship. What, exactly, does Gianna mean to her after all? - In the Long Run -> Taylor Vandenberg is busy running a successful travel blog. Brooke Watson and Taylor’s younger brother have been best friends for the majority of their lives. It means that even if Taylor isn’t physically present, she’s always been a part of Brooke’s most monumental life experiences. When Taylor lands back in Faircombe for an extended stay, it leads to more run-ins than Brooke would like. And more feelings than either may want to admit. - When You Least Expect It & Better Than Expected (I haven't had a chance to read them yet, but I have seen them recommended a lot)
If tomorrow doesn't come by Jen St. Jude -> On the morning Avery Byrne plans to end her life, the world discovers there are only nine days left to live: an asteroid is headed for Earth, and no one can stop it. As time runs out and secrets slowly come to light, Avery fights her way home to save the girl she has been in love with her whole life. But can Avery also learn to save herself and find hope again in the tomorrows she has left?
Kiss her once for me by Alison Cochrun -> Ellie had a Christmas Eve meet-cute with a woman at a bookstore that led her to fall in love over the course of a single night. The next year, Andrew, the shop’s landlord where Ellie works, proposes a shocking, drunken plan: a marriage of convenience that will benefit both of them. They make a plan to spend the holidays together at his family cabin to keep up the ruse. But when Andrew introduces his new fiancée to his sister, Ellie is shocked to discover is the mysterious woman she fell for over the year before.
6 times we almost kissed (and one time we did) by Tess Sharpe -> Penny and Tate keep almost kissing. It’s just this confusing thing that keeps happening. You know, from time to time. For basically their entire teenaged existence.  They’ve never talked about it. They’ve always ignored it in the aftermath. But now they’re living across the hall from each other. And some things—like their kisses—can’t be almosts forever.
Nottingham: the true story of Robin Hood by Anna Burke -> (A retelling of Robin Hood's story with a Female Robin and wlw couples) After a fateful hunting accident sends her on the run from the law, Robyn finds herself deep in the heart of Sherwood Forest. All she really wants to do is provide for her family and stay out of trouble, but when the Sheriff of Nottingham levies the largest tax in the history of England, she’s forced to take matters into her own hands. Relying on the help of her band of merry women and the Sheriff’s intriguing—and off limits—daughter, Marian, Robyn must find a way to pull off the biggest heist Sherwood has ever seen.
Forget me not by Alyson Derrick -> Stevie has a terrible fall. And when she comes to, she can remember nothing of the last two years—not California, not coming to terms with her sexuality, not even her girlfriend Nora. Suddenly, Stevie finds herself in a life she doesn’t quite understand. And Nora finds herself…forgotten.
It goes like this by Miel Moreland -> Eva, Celeste, Gina, and Steph used to play in world-famous queer pop band called Moonlight Overthrow. But after a sudden falling out leads to the dissolution of the teens' band, their friendship, and Eva and Celeste's starry-eyed romance, nothing is the same. Until a storm devastates their hometown, bringing the four ex-best-friends back together. As they prepare for one last show, they'll discover whether growing up always means growing apart.
Dominion Series by J J Arias: 1. Losing Control  -> Talent agent Adriana Ortiz’s world is rocked when she’s thrust into the tumultuous orbit of Roxy, the raw, enigmatic pop rebel with a notorious edge and a guarded heart. Tasked with steering the wild Roxy on a whirlwind tour, Adriana boards Roxy’s opulent tour bus. The nights are filled with roaring crowds, but it’s the electric tension between Roxy and Adriana that sets the air on fire. A forbidden connection that threatens to consume them. Is the wild, unbridled Roxy worth the risk to Adriana’s career, or is she just another woman falling victim to Roxy’s charms? 2. Fighting for Control  -> Lola Barros is a rising talent agent burning with ambition. Carmen Vargas is a dedicated lawyer poised to conquer the legal field. Their shared high-rise is the only thing these two powerhouses have in common. After a trivial parking mishap snowballs onto a full-blown feud, Lola and Carmen are thrust into unconventional anger management sessions and their fiery rivalry gives way to smoldering desire. But yielding to desire isn't straightforward. Between the shadows of demanding careers and familial expectations, their love is tested. Can Lola and Carmen find a balance between ambition and affection? 3. Relinquishing Control  -> Natalia Flores rules her exclusive talent agency with an iron fist, brokering blockbuster deals while keeping everyone at arm’s length. But beneath the cold exterior lies a heart that yearns to be understood. Enter Professor Samantha Reyes—brilliant, fierce, and unwilling to let Natalia manipulate her way into the film rights to her book. Their encounters spark with tension and undeniable chemistry. In a world where control is everything, can two powerful women let go of their fears to find a love that’s worth the risk?
11:59 by Erica Lee -> TJ Edmonds has created a whole brand around not getting attached to other people. She has a best-selling novel and a popular phone app both dedicated to helping people stay detached from their significant others, so they don't get hurt. But the only reason she can move on so quickly now is because she still hasn't let go of someone from her past. It's easy to guard her heart when she no longer has it to give away. TJ texts Brooke everyday at 11:59 pm with no answers. What happens when, in a moment of weakness, this someone reaches out to TJ?
Price and Prejudice and the city by Rachel Lippincott -> Seventeen-year-old Audrey Cameron has lost her spark. After an embarrassing run-in with her ex-boyfriend, she’s told that she needs to get back out there and take risks. What she doesn't expect is to be transported to Regency England! Lucy Sinclair has her own problems when Audrey lands into her life, claiming to be from two hundred years in the future, it's a welcome distraction.
Never ever getting back together by Sophie Gonzales -> Maya and Skye are invited to star on the reality dating show Second-Chance Romance, to compete for their now famous ex-boyfriend's affections while the whole world watches. Skye wonders if she and Jordy can recapture the spark she knows they had, but Maya has other plans.
The art of us by KL Hughes -> Charlee and Alex fell in love at nineteen and dated for four years. Theirs was an enviable love — evergreen and growing. Unbreakable…Until it broke. Alex’s job now brings her back to Boston, after five years. When, by chance, they meet again, Charlee and Alex are swept up in a whirlwind of heart-rending history, tossed between past and present, and lovers old and new. Will their lingering connection be enough to convince them that some loves are meant to last? Or should the past remain in the past?
That secret something by Emily Wright -> Rebecca Lawson is off-limits. Jess knows this, but Rebecca has captured her heart for as long as she can remember. She’s sporty, tall and confident—all the things Jess is not—but most of all…she’s her best friend Lily’s sister. But when Jess and Rebecca are forced to spend time together the forbidden feelings intensify and sparks begin to fly. Amidst the chaos of raging bridezillas and other wedding disasters, can Jess resist temptation for the sake of her friendship?
The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid  -> Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. Summoned to Evelyn's luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the '80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way
That summer feeling by Bridget Morrissey -> Turns out you're never too old for a summer camp romance. Or a change of heart. When a divorced woman attends a sleepaway camp for adults only, she reconnects with a man from her past - only to catch feelings for his sister instead.
Some of these are my absolute favourites, I've lost count of how many times I've read them. I cannot get enough of "the bright falls series", "One the same page", "Those who wait", "The secret of you and me" and the last entry "Falls From Grace". No matter how many times I read them. And sometimes I wish I could read them again, as if for the first time, if that makes sense. Anyway, I have a lot more titles. Let me know if you want them or not. Enjoy the reading

Which social media would Sherlock Holmes characters have, according to a discussion I had with my friends in the middle of a night a couple days ago. This is ACD Holmes I think but leaning onto Soviet movies somewhat.
(And yes I'm aware telegram isn't popular outside of russian-speaking internet but just let it be part of the joke i guess)
Holmes: a lot of fake accounts on every website ever, but the only place that he actually posts on for himself is his telegram channel about tobacco varieties that has almost no followers. When Watson learned that Holmes has telegram, he was pissed because he thought Holmes is there to buy drugs.
Watson: he's a really popular ao3 writer. Also has a tumblr blog and an insta where he posts pictures of food, pictures of Holmes and sometimes his drawings (which he photographs with a lot of random stuff in the background for "aesthetics"). He also created a number of "official" Sherlock Holmes accounts without telling Holmes and makes all the posts there himself.
Mrs Hudson: facebook, where she posts recipes, household advices and stuff like that, and occasionally grumbles about Holmes and Watson. Also whenever they do something that really pisses her off, she would list the flat for rent, but always take it down shortly.
Moriarty: tumblr where he mostly posts about maths and a personal website to advertise as a private math tutor. Also a private telegram channel that Holmes somehow managed to follow from a fake acc.
Lestrade: EVERY social media ever. Most notably, twitter, where he always gets in fights (especially with Holmes's fake accs). He also set up an official Scotland Yard tiktok where he just makes really bad edits of policemen just walking somewhere with some music and lots of filters on.
Irene Adler: Instagram. Also onlyfans where she posts really rarely and she's always fully clothed, but she still has like thousands on thousands of followers there.
Mycroft: an official twitter that he hired someone to manage. Also facebook.
Mary Morstan: She doesn't actually exist, it's just one of Holmes's fake Instagram accs where he posted pictures of "Watson's wedding" to escape rumours.
Sir Henry Baskerville: onlyfans with only one subscriber whose username is infusoria666. Everyone but sir Henry himself knows it's Dr. Mortimer. Also Dr. Mortimer tried to set up a travel blog for him but ended up having to post there by himself.
Dr. Mortimer: tumblr blog full of skulls and also a youtube channel. He's also one of the few people who follow Holmes's tobacco telegram, and probably its biggest fan. When they met, he mentioned his youtube channel a lot, hoping that Holmes will ask for a link, but he just ignored even the most obvious hints.
Also:
Baker Street irregulars all have tiktok. They force Watson to watch skibidi toilets.
Lestrade writes with a lot of errors and uses emojis excessively.
Moriarty writes immaculately with all the capital letters and punctuation and periods in the end of every sentence. Holmes does the same but with no capital letters.
Holmes followed Irene Adler from one of his female fake accs. She in turn followed his tobacco channel from a male acc, and commented under one of his posts recommending him to follow a blog on autism.
Once Watson posted a photo of his lunch on his insta and after that a photo of Holmes with a caption "desert :)" and refused to delete it.
Holmes made a youtube channel about beekeeping when he retired.

The next morning was a whirlwind of chaos. I got dressed in my everyday clothes after I got up and ate the breakfast that was brought to our room for us before heading out to attend to the list Totin had given me. He was busy with last-minute stuff and had me to check that everything and everyone was prepared for the dress rehearsal that evening. It wasn’t too long of a list and was definitely manageable, even being as pregnant as I was.
First on the list was to make sure that the ceremony space was set up correctly. I loved Totin to death, but he was very particular about things that he has envisioned in his head. This would be no exception, and if a single thing was out of place it would upset him and that was the last thing I wanted to do.
“This one, it’s missing a flower.” I said, pointing out one of the displays placed at the end of one of the rows.
“Yes, we know, that’s why we placed it further back, so it was less noticeable.” One of the decorators that was with me explained.
“No, it needs to be fixed. Nothing can be out of place or missing.” I said, continuing to look around, trying to see if anything else was wrong.
Everything else seemed to be okay, so I sent the servant droids to round up everyone who would be in attendance for the rehearsal dinner to give them the information they would need. We were meeting in the great hall. Since the palace was so huge it took nearly half an hour to get everyone rounded up and to the meeting location. Once everyone was there and was sitting, I rose from my seat and cleared my throat to get everyone’s attention.
“Okay, thank you, everyone, for meeting me here. I am just going to give you a rundown of how everything is going to happen for today and tomorrow. Today, after lunch, if you are in the wedding party, meet in the pre-disclosed getting-ready area for hair and or makeup for tonight.
As we all know, Totin and Dasar do not do anything small or simple and everything must be photographed and or recorded. So, please be sure your attire does adhere to the dress code for each event. I highly recommend eating at least something, because once hair and makeup are done, everyone will get dressed and then head to the ceremony space for the rehearsal and who knows how long that will take,” everyone laughed a little at that, knowing how Totin can be about his events, “Dinner will be after the rehearsal. Then tomorrow will look very similar to today but the getting ready process will start after breakfast and not lunch because the ceremony is early in the afternoon.”
Everyone nodded along as I gave all the details. Once I was finished I allowed them to ask questions to clarify anything, then once everything was settled, I dismissed everyone to continue their day until it was time to get ready for the rehearsal.
The next big thing on my agenda was to check that everyone’s gowns and suits were ready for them in the getting-ready areas. Maul tagged along to keep me company.
“Okay, there should be…38 different suits in here.” I said, checking my datapad.
“38?” Maul asked, shocked.
“Yup… they know a lot of people. I have all their names and a picture of what they submitted to wear. I just have to make sure they match up and are labeled for the right person. And that the servant droids have pressed and steamed them.”
“Here, give me the datapad. I’ll call out the names and what they should have and you can check them.” He offered.
“Thank you.” I said, handing him the datapad.
I didn’t mind that he was getting the easier part of the task. It was my task to do after all, and I was fully capable of doing it alone. I was just happy to have help.
We had gotten about halfway through the suits when there was a knock on the door. I looked at Maul with my eyebrows furrowed before calling out.
“Come in!”
The door opened, and in rushed Totin. He was clearly frazzled.
“Have you seen the servant droids?” He asked.
“No. Last I heard, they were supposed to be prepping all the dresses… why what’s wrong?” I asked calmly.
“I can’t find my suit… Dasar has his, but mine is missing. I told them to steam and press it with all the others, but now I don’t know where it is! Dasar pressed his own and offered to do mine, but I didn’t want him to worry about it but now I am thinking I should’ve let him do it because now mine is gone! I can’t walk down the aisle naked, Yn, I can’t! Well, I could, I would look great, but this isn’t the time nor the place for that…”
As he continued to spiral, Maul subtly flashed me the datapad. At the very bottom of the list, Totin’s name was there with what he should be wearing as well.
“Totin,” I took a step towards him and carefully grabbed his arms, “deep breath.” I did the same to get him to do it with me, “Now, did you tell the droids to bring all suits to this room?”
“Well, yeah. Are we missing another one?” He asked, clearly missing what I was trying to get him to realize.
“No. Totin, all of them are here.” I said, emphasizing all.
The relaxation and relaxation was visible all over his body.
“It’s here?”
I nodded, “It’s here.”
He sighed heavily, and I released his arms before leading him to the last suit hanging along the wall.
“You’re a lifesaver. You know that, right?”
I smiled, “I try. Now, do you want to take this with you now or do you want to send for one of the droids?” I asked.
“I think I’ll just take it…” he said, carefully reaching up to take it off its hook.
I continued to get everything else ready that I needed to. It was then a little over half an hour before lunch. Perfect timing.
“Maul, I arranged to have lunch brought to the room, care to join me for a quick nap? Maker knows I’ll need one to make it through tonight.” I joked, already starting the journey back to the room.
“It would be my pleasure.” He said with a slight smile. “Just so we’re clear, I mean an actual nap, not a handsy leading to more type of nap.” I said with a small laugh.
“You’re no fun.” He teased, but I knew he wasn’t really disappointed, he knew I had a lot to take care of both today and tomorrow, and this rest was needed.
Once we got to the room, we just at half an hour for me to close my eyes before the food got there. After we ate, Maul escorted me to where the ladies were getting ready before heading off to get ready himself. Although he wasn’t actually in the wedding party, he was my date for lack of a better term, so he had to get drug to all the preparations.
Since I had to go double-check that everything was running smoothly, I had to get hair and makeup done first. It was nothing fancy, just some light, natural makeup and a nice touch-up on my hair to keep it out of my face.
Then, I had one of the girls there help me put on my dress. I used to be able to get into and out of dresses without any assistance, but being pregnant threw me way off balance, so it was nice to have an extra set of hands to help with the zipper. Then last thing to do was to put on my shoes. Tomorrow, for the wedding, I would wear actual heels to match everyone else, but I knew that if I wore them tonight as well, my feet would be beyond sore tomorrow, so with Totin’s approval, I opted to wear flats for tonight.
Once I was ready, I made sure everyone in my dressing area was good to go and did not need anything from me before I left. Then, I made my way to where those wearing suits were getting ready. I knocked and made sure everyone was dressed before entering. Things were understandably going quicker in here. There weren’t as many needing makeup done in here, so most of them were just getting their hair touched up or fixed for the evening. In Maul’s case, he was doing a quick touch-up on his horns at one of the far mirrors. I smiled to myself, remembering the times I’d gotten to help him. I wanted to go over and offer my help now, but I knew I couldn’t. I had to make sure everything was on track. I made a few quick announcements to everyone and when there were no questions in response, I left with the handful of people that were ready and walked to where the rehearsal was taking place.
I had a datapad once again with me. This one gave a detailed list of who walks when. It didn’t take long for more people to trickle in and so I began lining everyone up. I called out names and got them in line and told them whether they would stand on Totin’s or Dasar’s side when they got down the aisle. Dasar showed up and stood at the front of the line. It took about 10 minutes from when the last few people arrived for me to get everyone where they needed to be. Luckily, though, instead of walking individually or splitting at the end of the aisle to either side, they had decided that each pair would stand together, alternating which side they would stand on. My name was last on the list, right before Totin, which was a huge honor. I got into my spot and asked Totin if I was good to tell those inside to open the doors and begin the rehearsal.
“Yes, that’s fine, but why isn’t Maul here?” He asked glancing to where the Zabark in question stood off to the side.
“He wasn’t on the list…” I said, confused.
“Well, I thought it was a given that he would be walking you down?” He said as if it were obvious, “Everyone is walking down with their partners if they have one.”
It was only then that I realized that everyone here was a couple.
“Oh…” was all I could say before excusing myself to go get Maul.
He was just as confused as I was for a moment, but regardless, he came over to join me. Once we were back in line, I used the comlink to tell them to start, and soon, the huge double doors opened in unison, and music began to play. Luckily someone was at the doors telling people when to walk, so I wouldn’t have to do that as well.
I felt a tap on my shoulder as Totin leaned down, “You didn’t really think I would let you walk down the aisle without the man of your dreams did you?” He said right before it was our turn to walk.
I felt heat creep up in my cheeks as Maul and I walked down together. I was holding onto his arm, stealing glances up at him from time to time.
“What?” He asked quietly.
“Nothing… I just hope the next time I am walking down an aisle after this wedding is at ours.” I said.
Maul very rarely smiled genuinely, especially in the public eye, but upon hearing my words, he had the biggest smile out of anyone in that room.
“It will be, I promise.” He whispered just as we got to the end of the aisle.
We turned to go stand on the side that Totin would be on and waited for him to walk down as well.
Surprisingly, the rehearsal of the ceremony only took about an hour. They didn’t say their actual vows, wanting to save them for tomorrow. We all practiced our exit, and then it was time to head to the dinning hall for dinner. I was getting really tired as the night drug on, and after eating, my tiredness only grew. I had scooted my chair closer to Maul and had been resting my head on his shoulder. I hadn’t meant to fall asleep, but the next thing I knew, Maul was nudging me slightly.
“I’m so sorry.” I said quickly, glancing around to see who had seen me asleep.
“It’s okay, Totin wanted me to come tell you that you can leave. We both know you have been on your feet all day, making sure everything was running smoothly. Which we thank you for, so much. Go get some rest. We will see you tomorrow.” Dasar said gently.
“Tell him I said thank you.” I said before turning to Maul.
He stood up before helping me do the same. He bid Dasar a goodnight before leading us out of the hall. The walk to the room felt like it was taking ages. When we finally got there, the moment we were in the door, I was already turning my back to him to get him to help take my dress off. He undid the zipper and carefully helped me out of it. Then he took the garment over to the wardrobe to hang it until the housekeeping droids came to get it. He brought me a tunic to sleep in, as I sat down on the edge of the bed.
The next morning was a whirlwind of getting ready. I allowed myself to sleep in a little later and just get ready in my room instead of with everyone else. The golden dress fit perfectly and complemented Maul’s tan suit nicely.
“That’s a good color on you.” I commented as he fixed the jacket in the vanity mirror.
He hummed in response.
“I am almost ready. I was just going to repolish my horns one last time.” He said, grabbing what he needed from his toiletry bag.
“May I help?” I asked.
“Of course.” He said, moving to sit down in the chair, which I had used to do my makeup earlier.
I admittedly took longer than I needed to with the task, wanting to soak up every moment of calmness before the inevitable chaos of today started.
“We need to get going, love.” Maul finally said gently.
I nodded, “I know…”
Without a word, he stood up and walked me back to the bedroom to help me with my shoes. Then, before I knew it, we were watching Dasar walk down the aisle for real. Their vows were absolutely beautiful. You could really tell how much they loved one another. I slightly cursed my damn hormones as my eyes began to water when they kissed. Maul subtly pulled out a small handkerchief and passed it to me so I could wipe my eyes.
After the ceremony, there was about an hour lull to allow everyone to change into the reception attire. This dress was a lot more fun than the one I had worn to both the rehearsal dinner and the ceremony. It had sequins that were sure to catch the light and shine and sparkle all night long…or as long as I would last.
Maul didn’t really change, instead, he just removed his suit jacket, leaving him in just a tan vest over a white button-down.
Once we were both dressed, we made our way to the grand ballroom, where the reception was to take place. Once again, we were lined up in the same order we were in for the ceremony; however, now, both Dasar and Totin stood behind Maul and me. Someone with a datapad was going down the row asking everyone how they would like to be announced upon their entry. I was a little shocked when they stopped before they got to Maul and me but Dasar told me to just trust him.
It wasn’t too long before we were next. I was a little confused by what Dasar had said… how were they going to announce us?
“Now welcome, Lord Maul, Lady Mand'alor Yn, and their heir to Crimson Dawn!” The DJ said, causing a huge uproar of applause as Maul and I walked in.
I was a bit embarrassed that he included our titles, but everyone here knew of those titles, I just didn’t want to take away any attention from them. Also, under different circumstances, the mention that our son was the heir to a crime syndicate wasn’t something I wanted to be announced; however, again, everyone here already knew that.
Within no time the party was in full swing. The formalities like cutting the cake, the first dance, and parent dances were all over and now it was time to have fun. I found a few old friends of Dasar and I and danced with them as much as I could. And I must say, despite my center of gravity being completely thrown off, I held my own pretty damn well and was still able to get down. Unfortunately, one aspect of the pregnancy I couldn’t work around was the fact that I get winded much faster now. Unfortunately, I had to take frequent breaks between dancing to catch my breath.
Maul was dotting over me the whole time, though. Anytime I came off the floor to sit down to take a breather, he was right there with a glass of water for me. However, eventually, I couldn’t keep going much longer and I knew my night would be coming to a close soon.
I walked off the floor to sit down again and was surprised when I couldn’t find Maul anywhere. Regardless I took a seat, figuring he may be off getting himself a drink or something and would return soon. Which he did. He sat next to me in his chair and grabbed my hand.
“You doing alright?” He asked over the music.
“Yeah… getting tired, though. I think it may be time to call it quits.” I said with a laugh, though I was very serious.
“Do you have the energy for one more dance?” He asked.
“For you, always.” I said with a smile.
The song that was playing ended, fading into a much slower song. One that I recognized quickly. It was one of my favorite slow songs. Maul stood up and offered me his hand. I took it and he helped me stand before leading me to the dance floor. He held me close to him, and I leaned into him, cheek resting against him. I had slipped off my heels earlier in the evening so he was quite a bit taller than I was now.
“I love you.” He whispered mid-song.
“I love you too, Maul.” I said, pulling back just enough to look up at him.
“I had the housekeeping droids pack our things already. They left us both something to sleep in and something to wear tomorrow to depart in.” Maul said quietly.
“What? We’re supposed to stay a few more days.” I said, confused and slightly hurt. There was still more celebrating that would happen. Admittedly, they would be much more of a party atmosphere with drinking and even possibly some spice, I wanted to be here for it, for my friend.
“I know you wanted to stay, but I have arranged something for us, with the help of Dasar and Totin. They said we could return later after the baby to celebrate with them again.” He explained.
“Okay… what are we doing?” I asked still confused.
“That is a surprise.” He said with a small smile.

Dearest Marmee,
I must thank you once again for recommending the tickets to the theatre. We have been home about a month now and my wife has not stopped gushing about it to anyone who will listen. I knew she had the soul of a poet but I could have never guessed how much that evening would mean to her.
We were the last to arrive, nearly missing the admissions, as we had stopped off to have our portrait taken there in London. But after all, how could we miss the opportunity to be photographed in our finest clothes, and so in my opinion anyway, we were only fashionably late!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will admit only to you, some of the play went above my head, but my Winifred, oh how she laughed throughout the entirety of the performance. She understands things like this you see, and I suppose your Jo is likely the same; I think it is something engrained in all the great writers of the world to be able to understand why the curtains are yellow and not blue.
And boy, does my wife admire Mr. Wilde. She truly believes he will go down in history as one of the greats. She is very fond of all his work, and she suspects we should expect more excellence out of him before his career is finished.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite feeling a little out of my depth, I enjoyed myself all the same, especially after Winifred explained that the play mocks the wealthy in subtle ways. Mr. Tree, the gentlemen who played Lord Illingworth, is a galant man taking a slap from Mrs. Arbuthnot that way; how the sound of the sting echoed throughout the entire hall! I was downright shocked, and my wife in stitches, finding it absolutely hilarious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At once the show finished, and as Mr. Tree and Mrs. Beere took their bows, everyone cheered for their outstanding talent, and I do believe my wife applauded harder than anyone else in that audience. The show was a treasure, and I trust it will be remembered for generations to come. However, what I will remember most, is my Winifred.
And while everyone marveled at the actors, I couldn’t keep from marveling at my wife instead. Her beauty, her cleverness, her whimsical laughter and dazzling smile, and most of all, her natural aptitude to understand the work...aside from the day we wed, I can't think of a time she has ever appeared more beautiful to me, or more herself.
It was though she belonged there, amongst others who appreciate literature, and my, I can't help thinking what it would be like to sit in that theatre and see her work performed on the stage instead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had hoped that our viewing of ‘A Woman of No Importance’ would give her the confidence she needs to be published. It would truly be a shame for the world not to know her work; I encourage gently, but she is stubborn, you see and hardly allows me to read it. She does not recognize her own talent.
Since we've been home though, I have found her early in the morning, asleep at her typewriter more times than I can count. So at the very least, I am pleased to see her passion burning inside once again. Now...if I could only find a way to ignite it.
Yours Sincerely, Lawrence

Chapter 12: New Normal
Gale Cleven × Hope Armstrong (ofc)
Series Masterlist
This story is based on on the fictional portrayal of these men from the MOTA to series.
Summary: Gale finds himself arriving at Stalag Luft, finding Hope not quite as he left her. As the girls try to find a new normal within Stalag Luft, Hope struggles with her insomnia and pushes her friends away.
Collab: A Pair of Silver Wings by @major-mads
Tumblr media
October 9th, 1943, Dulag Luft
Gale tapped his leg rhythmically against the wooden, the anxiety buzzing inside him. He felt as though he was on a high and at any moment he’d leap out of his chair and start wrecking the office. He wondered if this was how his father felt after having too much to drink. Gale had never been a violent man, choosing to talk things out rather than use his fists but after the events of the last few weeks, he felt like killing every Kraut that walked through that door with his bare hands.
He shouldn’t be here, in some dowdy German interrogation room. He should have been back in England with Hope, using the four days leave they had obtained after their wedding. They should have been in London, in the obnoxiously posh hotel John had booked for them, making use of the four-poster bed. They had the whole thing planned out, they weren’t even going to leave their room, instead choosing to spend those four days in their little bubble of wedded bliss, laying in bed until noon.
Gale had planned to read a book that Hugh had recommended to him a while ago, and Hope was excited that she could spend a whole ninety-six hours with him, it was the longest amount of time they would have ever spent together.
The large wooden door swung opened and a tall Luftwaffe Lieutenant strolled in, whistling a tune as he went. He barely looked at Gale, shuffling through the folders on his desk until he pulled one free, thumbing through the pages with a satisfied smile.
“Hmm,” he sat down on the opposite side of the desk, a vile smirk on his lips. “So you are the infamous Major Gale Cleven. It is good to finally meet you, Major. I am Lieutenant Haussmann.”
Gale glared at him, his bright blue eyes boring into the other man’s chest, refusing to meet his gaze and give him the satisfaction of his attention.
“So Major Cleven, do you care to tell me about yourself?” Haussmann sat down opposite, thumbing his way through a folder absentmindedly. Gale wondered what he was looking for. What information could they possible have on him?
“Major Gale Winston Cleven. Serial number 0-399782,” Gale replied plainly, ignoring the frustrated look on the Lieutenant’s face. Gale could only imagine that he’d been receiving the same reply from all of his crew, not to mention from the other crews that had gone down with them. There’s only so many times you can hear names and serial numbers before the task becomes tedious.
“Now Major, you know I know that information already,” Haussmann tutted, “Is there nothing of interest you would like to share? We could have a quid pro quo. You help me and maybe I can help you in the future. Sounds good?”
“Major Gale Winston Cleven. Serial number 0-399782,” Gale repeated, his gaze never once faltering. He could keep this up all day, all night too if he had too.
“Alright then, let’s have a look,” Haussmann began turning the pages of the file that Gale could only assume was about him. He mumbled to himself, Gale picked up the odd words like the State of his birth, his date of birth, his unit, until Haussmann sighed.
“I remember why I know you now,” he pulled free the picture of Hope that Gale had tucked into his jacket pocket when he’d jumped. It was from the night of Dye’s party. It was the picture of Hope, Meatball and himself that the photographer had taken for them. Hope was smiling brightly, tucked close into his arms while Meatball sat at their feet. Hope was in her Class A uniform, her dark locks curls and her lips painted bright red, just how Gale liked them.
“You are Lieutenant Armstrong's fiancé, yes? Yes, I do remember you now. She also had a picture of you,” Hausmann recalled.
Wait, how did he know Hope? Was Hope here? Had she been captured too? Was she still alive?
Haussmann continued talking, rambling about something but Gale had spaced out the moment he’d heard Hope’s name. She was alive after all.
Haussman seemed suddenly interested in something tucked into an envelope within the file, pulling free the two gold wedding bands and the dainty gold necklace that Gale had along with it. He’d bought it for Hope’s birthday but she’d gone down a few days before he’d had the chance to give it to her. He’d planned a little surprise party for her on base but everything had quickly gone hushed and no one mentioned it after news that the girls plane had crashed.
The moment he had heard that the girls had gone down, Gale’s heart had stopped beating, frozen in time. It had turned to stone and he feared that he would never be able to love anyone like she had loved Hope. In this damp and dreary office his heart started to beat again, slowly at first until it resumed its normal pace, pounding in his chest as the idea of a reunion with Hope filled him with joy.
“You are thinking of her? Yes, I can see it in your eyes,” Haussmann sneered, leaning across the desk, “Do not get your hopes up. I fear women will not survive long in a place like this. They are not as strong.”
“You’ve never met my girl Hope,” Gale mumbled under his breath but Haussmann’s ears perked up.
“We will see,” he snapped, rising from his desk, “You may take your possession, Major. As I told Lieutenant Armstrong, I have no use for your rings. You are no use to me if you tell me nothing.” He hurried out of the room, allowing the guards in who grabbed Gale harshly, but not before he’d grabbed the wedding bands, pulling him from the chair and leading him back towards the cell he had frequented before his brief interrogation.
The cell was damp and cold, the cot uncomfortable and unforgiving, but none of that mattered now. All that mattered was that Hope was alive and she was here.
Gale slumped down on a bed, the breath that he’d been holding since the tragic news finally being released in a long, relieved sigh.
His girl was here and Gale was damned if he didn’t intend to find her.
He thumbed her dainty, gold wedding band between his fingers, pushing it back and forth along the gold chain he’d purchased for it. It held a small locket on it, embossed with delicate little flowers and held a picture of himself inside. He pressed his lips against the cool metal, a silent tear slipping down his cheek.
“I promise I’ll find you, Hope. I promise.”
Tumblr media
October 14th, 1943 - Stalag Luft III 04:00
Two weeks they had been at Stalag Luft III. Two weeks in the hell hole, but to Hope it felt like two years. Sleep didn’t come easy for her. The first few nights she spent on high alert, her eyes watching every movement outside the hut. She was convinced they’d be moved again and after losing her friends in Dulag Luft she wasn’t going to let the same happen again. Ruth tried to reassure her that they weren’t going to be split up again, but even she was unsure of what was planned for them. She had tried to stay up with Hope for several nights, but sleep eventually overtook her and she slipped into a dreamless slumber.
After several nights without sleep, Hope grew irritated, snapping at any minor inconvenience, but she’d been forced to bite her tongue when the guards barked orders during their morning and night appells. The stern glare Frank sent her told her now was not the time to put up a fight.
She hadn’t meant to be so short tempered but as she’d watched Ruth and Frank sleep, she’d resented them for resting easy. Her mind spun twenty four hours of the day, constantly on alert, constantly in overdrive. Frank had joined Ruth is staying up with Hope, taking it in shifts to try and distract her from her constant worry.
“Do you know what happened to her in Dulag Luft?” Ruth whispered to Frank one night whilst Hope paced up and down the corridor.
Frank shook his head, surprising a yawn, “She won’t tell me what happened. When I found her, Ruth, I…” Frank shook his head, blinking away a few tears, “Well, she wasn’t the same Hope I used to know.”
After Hope rejoined them, her pacing finally ceased and she sank down onto her cot, her eyes finally growing heavy, and as the guards patrols seemed less frequent tonight, they had gradually slipped closed. Her body slouched against the end of their cot, not the most comfortable positions lead against the wooden beam but exhaustion had taken over.
Her mind swam over the events of the last few weeks, coming to a halt on the day of the crash. Images flashed behind her eyes, pulling her deeper into the abyss. Flak shook the plane around her, spinning into a nosedive. Ruth’s voice was close by but she couldn’t see her. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest but she wasn’t frightened, not really. She was worried for Ruth, and Frank, they didn’t deserve this end.
It was strange really, the feeling of falling, watching as the world flashed passed you in a blur. The descent from the sky that should have terrified her but instead comforted her in some way as she plummeted.
Over the last few weeks she grew to realise she wasn’t as strong as she thought she was. She didn’t look after her friends when it mattered most, so maybe she did deserve this end.
Hope knew it would all be okay in the end. Despite the height the C47 was plummeting from, she could see Gale waiting below her. His smiling face and open arms at the bottom of her long fall was a welcome sight. Would he catch her? What did it matter? He either would or he wouldn’t, either way at least it would all be over.
She spread her arms, allowing the wind to take her like a bird, sending her in whichever direction it pleased. She could hear a faint voice in the distance, calling out to her. It sounded like Ruth, a voice that had grown so familiar to her over the last year.
She reached towards the voice, seeing Ruth’s face beaming back at her, her own hand outstretched. But what about Gale? He was waiting for her and…
“Hope!” Ruth shook her violently, her voice stricken with worry as her friend finally came to, lurching forward off the end of her bunk and nearly knocking herself out on the bunk above her. “Hey, it’s okay.”
Hope stared back at her, dark eyes wide and full of tears, sweat trickled down her forehead and her chest heaved against her overalls. It took her a moment to realise what was going on as Frank’s worried face appeared beside the blonde’s. Ruth reached forward, trying to brush away the hair that had fallen across Hope’s forehead, but Hope caught her wrist, squeezing it painfully.
“Don’t touch me,” she hissed, pushing herself quickly off the cot and marching towards the door of the hut, not once looking back at her friends. Since didn’t care if they hadn’t had the 6am roll call yet, she couldn’t stand it any longer.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she felt her way along the darkened corridor and out into the compound, ignoring Ruth’s desperate pleas. Her heart hammered violently in her chest as her shoulders shook, tears running freely as she gasped for air, choking on her own emotions.
Stumbling blindly through the dark she felt herself falling, landing with a thump. She crawled around in the mud, feeling for her way. The rest of the compound was lit with bright, white searchlights, but behind the hut was pitch black.
She managed to haul herself to her feet, ignoring the way her right knee ached or the grazes on her hands trickled with fresh blood.
Maybe this was what she deserved after all.
Hope wasn’t sure how long she’d spent outside but Frank found her shortly before roll call, hauling her to her feet. Neither of them mentioned their previous interaction and Hope was grateful for that.
She followed him to where Ruth was waiting on their block’s steps, her brow creased in worry. When she saw them approaching, a sympathetic but worried smile tugged at her lips. Hope forced a smile in return, linking her hand through Ruth’s and squeezing it gently. Ruth was pleased to see even the faintest smile on Hope’s face. She’d been so withdrawn since their arrival at the Stalag that Ruth began to worry that she was slowly slipping away before her eyes.
The trio made their way over to the mess hut. They each collected their modest breakfast of black bread, which according to a few of the old timers, was filled with sawdust.
“I miss the breakfast back at base,” Frank whined as he chewed through the tough, brown slice. He was thankful he had always had good teeth, otherwise you risked losing a few just at breakfast.
The girls nodded in agreement, their mouths watering at the thought of powdered eggs, toast, maybe even some bacon and hot coffee. They were thankful for the Red Cross parcels that, although few and far between, helped supplement their diet a little.
Ruth still kept a vivid memory of the man by the gate when they arrived, just skin and bone. Hope had seen a man similar in the infirmary where she was helping out and told Ruth that the man was still in good spirits, which he was, but that didn’t help the fear that grew inside Ruth’s chest.
Would she end up just like him?
Hope was thankful for a job in the infirmary working alongside a few of the camp's doctors. She’d been given a sense of purpose which had been taken from her, and despite the lack of sleep and the ache in her chest, she managed to pull herself out of bed each day for that purpose. Ruth was happy for her. Hope was born to be a nurse, it was her calling and seeing her helping people again gave them all a little hope.
Ruth found her own purpose in the camp by teaching some of her fellow POWs how to read. Many of them were just boys when the depression hit and were forced to drop out of school to work the fields to keep their families afloat. So every morning after breakfast and their morning appell, Frank walked her to the Kriegie school, nicknamed Kriegie University, and she taught a few classes throughout the day. Some were basic reading classes, and others were literature studies like the ones she taught back in the states. If there was one thing Stalag Luft III had an overabundance of, it was books. The south compound’s extensive library was a popular spot, and it gave Ruth the perfect material to use in her classroom.
Frank had taken up working in one of the camp’s gardens. The girls had encouraged him to take up a study he might have been interested in but he seemed happy in the garden. “You girls know I’m better with my hands, that’s why I fly the plane.”
He supplemented his time between garden and playing football which seemed to bring some of the old Frank back. Watching him play reminded the girls of the fun loving young man he actually was. The war had aged them all and they sometimes forgot that Frank wasn’t really that much older than them.
After breakfast and the 6am appell, they went their separate ways. Hope tried to push the events of the morning away as she strolled towards the infirmary, a spring in her step. The dark purple bags under her eyes told a different story but she ignored them.
She reached the infirmary door, her eyes falling upon ‘Lazaret’ inscribed on the door. It seemed that the Germans liked to make their presences known wherever they went. Pushing open the infirmary door, she winced as it swung back loudly on its hinges.
The infirmary was a long room with a bench down one side, and cupboards underneath and a washing sink. The examination table and stool sat in the middle of the room, and the basic lab facilities of a microscope and hand driven centrifuge sat on a bench on the other side.
The rest of the ward contained a room, which was a dormitory for 10 -12 men in double bunks; this was where Hope spent most of her time. At present her patients consisted of a young RAF pilot with a compound fracture to his thigh, another British pilot with broken ribs, a young American bombardier with a head injury and a Czech pilot with a broken arm.
Hope had enjoyed being back on the ward, it had been so long since she’d done hospital rounds that it bought memories back from her training.
She’d been working alongside an English doctor from London, Edmund, and an Australian medical student, Robbie. Hope found both men easy to get along with, and there were even moments when she managed to forget she was a POW. The infirmary was her escape. Edmund had been her first friend at the camp. Despite his upper class upbringing and well spoken English, he was down to Earth. Robbie was very bouncy and full of life despite their current situation. He had been a Hampden pilot and still talked enthusiastically about his flying days.
“Good morning, Hope,” Edmund called from the examination table where he was plastering another young man’s arm. “I’m afraid I’m adding to your ward, you’ve got another fractured arm.”
Hope smiled cheerfully at the young man, who returned the gesture with a pained grin, “Not to worry, Doctor, I’m sure one more won’t hurt.” There was a running joke between the medical staff that whenever they managed to discharge one patient they gained three more.
Robbie greeted her as she strolled into the ward, tying an apron around her middle. He cocked his head to one side, “What happened to you?” He motioned to the dry mud smeared across Hope’s knees and hands.
“Oh, I slipped,” she replied, moving over to the wash basin and cleaning herself up. She winced as she ran the rough cloth over her grazed hands. She could see now why Frank and Ruth had looked so worried this morning, she must have looked quite the state.
Robbie shrugged, seemingly satisfied with her answer. “Could ya help me with this one bloke?”
Hope nodded, carefully manouvering between the beds until she came alongside the young man with the head injury. He’d been unconscious the whole time he’d been at Stalag Luft and Hope worried he may never wake up.
She carefully helped Robbie roll the young man onto his side, gasping at the sight before her. Robbie glanced over, his face pained, “Bloody hell! Poor bastards. Hows’t keep happening?”
He gestured to the blood marks on the young man’s back, indicating pressure sores.
“I don’t know, Robbie,” Hope replied sadly, carefully cleaning the wounds before she could apply fresh dressings. “We keep turning him, there’s not much else we can do. Just keep them clean and keep roaring him. If we can keep him off his back to give them a chance to heal that would definitely help.”
The young man nodded, following Hope’s instructions. Hope wasn’t sure what else to suggest. If the young man had been in a proper hospital then they may have been able to see the extent of his head injury, but here, there was much choice but to make him comfortable and wait it out.
The morning flew by quickly with ward rounds, changing sheets, redressing wounds and feeding all the patients. By lunchtime, Hope’s stomach growled loudly and she was ready for whatever measle meal had been prepared.
She caught up with Ruth and Frank just before they got in line for lunch. They were deep in conversation about something but they became silent when they noticed Hope.
“Everything alright?” She asked, falling into step beside Ruth who gave her a reassuring nod.
“Yes, I was just telling Frank about my morning, I’ve been so busy with classes that I almost missed lunch.”
Hope was pleased to see the way Ruth’s eyes lit up as she spoke about her teaching. She would have loved to have known her before the war, before they each had a part of themselves ripped away, but seeing her now reminded Hope that they might be able to find their old selves again one day.
Lunch consisted of thin, runny potato soup with a few vegetables from the camp garden. Frank beamed as he pointed out his effort in helping prepare the vegetables for their meal.
“Who knew Frank was so green fingered,” Ruth chuckled, slurping the soup from her spoon.
“Well they way he used to hug those hedges back in Norfolk,” Hope jested, “It’s a wonder ‘The Angel’ never ended up in one.”
Frank rolled his eyes dramatically at the girls' antics, pleased to see they could still laugh about something. He wasn’t sure how they kept him smiling but they always managed it. He worried of course, between Hope closing herself off from them and Ruth’s endless worry he wondered how they smiled at all. There were moments when it felt like they were back in Berkshire sitting around the mess hall telling stories from their childhoods.
“Well, I always said you should have got your pilot wings, Hope. I wouldn’t have minded you as a co-pilot.”
Hope gave him a faint smile. Thinking of perusing a different career seemed so far away from where they were.
“She’d have given you a run for your money, Frank,” Ruth giggled again, finishing up her soup. She glanced over at Hope who just sent her a small smile again. There were moments when she saw the old Hope again rather than the closed-off shell of the woman she had become. She wasn’t sure what to do, but she could only tiptoe around on eggshells for so long before someone cracked.
“I should be getting back to my classroom,” Ruth declared, pushing back her rickety, wooden chair and stepping back. “I’ll see you both later.”
“Be careful, Ruth. Do you want me to walk with you?” Frank asked, half pushing his chair back but she waved him away.
“It’s not far, Frank. I’ll be fine,” she smiled at Frank but nudged her head towards Hope, trying to prompt Frank to follow through on their earlier conversation.
Frank nodded.
“Bye Rue,” Hope’s quiet voice could barely be heard above the noises around them but Ruth did. She sent her friend a small smile. It felt like that’s all they did now, keep smiling at each other.
As Ruth disappeared, Frank turned to Hope, his face suddenly set in a concerned look. His eyebrows drew tightly together and his lips set in a thin line.
“What are we doing, Hope? You can’t close us out…”
“I’m not,” Hope interrupted, placing her spoon down into her bowl. “I’m just getting on with my day. There’s not much else I can do here, so I just have to get on with it.”
“But you don’t have to do this alone, Hope. We’re all here for you, but I need you to open up to us. Please don’t shut us out, especially Ruth. She was really upset this morning…”
Hope but her lip, recalling her outburst from earlier, she hadn’t meant to snap but she also couldn’t sit and talk about how she felt. She felt so much and it was too much for one person to bare, but it was also too much to share. She couldn’t share it, not with anyone. Certainly not poor Ruth, she had already gone through so much.
“I’m sorry,” was all she could mumble, scraping her chair back from the table, “I’m sorry I’m such a burden to you all.”
“Hope, you’re not a burden…”
“I need to get back.” Hope didn’t look back to see Frank’s broken face as she left him alone at the table. She couldn’t help it, she just couldn’t . She hated seeing the hurt in her friends eyes all the time, she was a nurse she was meant to help them not hurt them.
Pushing the conversation from her mind she made her way back to the infirmary, it was the one place she could be useful, be herself. She knew what she was doing wasn’t healthy but how could she burden her friends with her own problems. She had to be the strong one, always the strong one.

October 22nd, 1943, Stalag Luft III
Hope stared blankly at the prisoners that walked by, ignoring the shouts and calls from others. She wasn’t sure why she’d gone to the gates, there wouldn’t be anyone there for her. Hope supposed that maybe she came to the gate as a nurse, to help anyone injured that might need her, maybe it was to renew her sense of purpose. She could use some of that right about now. Or maybe it was the subconscious hope that maybe there would be someone she knew, someone who knew Gale and Hugh, someone who could bring her comfort.
Her fingers gripped absentmindedly around the cool wire of the compound, leaning against the fence for support. She could feel her knees growing weak, as if each passing man somehow drained the life from her and…
“Hope?”
Hope raised her head at the sound of her name being called, the rest of the voices around her seeming to vanish as…
“HOPE!”
Her vision seemed to blur as her dark eyes raced over the faces of the incoming prisoners. She couldn’t find him, she couldn’t find him and…
A warm hand wrapped around hers, a familiar warmth that made her heart stop and leap simultaneously. The warmth spread through her, embracing her in the golden light that she had longed for.
“Oh Hope,” his voice sounded weak, broken as it fell from his lips, but it was him. He was alive and he was here.
“Gale?” She whispered, weaving her hand through the fence further to grip hold of his jacket, feeling the rough leather beneath her fingers. “Gale?”
“It’s me. I’m here,” he reassured her, pulling her as close as he could through the fence. Despite the awkward angle, their lips met briefly. The faintest of kisses and yet the one that had conveyed the most love, more love than any of their kisses before.
“I can’t believe I found you.” Large tears rolled down his dirty cheeks, his blue eyes shining and a loving smile cracked across his lips. “I found you, just like I promised.”
Before Hope could reply a guard appeared, shoving Gale away from the fence and raising his weapon. Hope opened her mouth to scream but nothing came out, not even a whimper.
Gale’s hands flew up, he backed further away but his eyes stayed on Hope’s. “I’ll find you, Hope. I promise I’ll find you,” he called as he was pushed further from her.
Hope’s legs carried her along the fence line, following Gale’s every move until she couldn’t any longer. She watched as he disappeared into the crowd, his worried expression the last thing he saw.
She gripped the fence, screaming his name as her heart shattered. How could this pain be so much worse? She’d already lost him once but to lose him again would kill her.
She sank into the mud, ignoring the way it seeped through her clothes, wetting her skin and causing her to shiver. The wind was harsh, blowing painfully against the skin on her face, but she didn’t move. She couldn’t. The only thing she could see was Gale’s face disappearing into the crowd.
Hope wasn’t sure what happened next, but a warm hand on her shoulder brought her back to the present. She noticed it was growing dark now, the night drawing in quicker than she had realised. Looking up, her eyes met a wide-eyed pair that she remembered well from Thorpe Abbotts. Crank.
They thought she was dead.
Hope glanced behind him and noticed Frank Murphy and Glenn Graham. All men that Gale had introduced her to. Frank was behind them, a sympathetic smile on his lips as he looked down at her.
“Frank,” she croaked, not realising how thirsty she was, “It’s Gale. He’s here, Frank.” The tears began to flow freely again and Hope didn’t know how she had any left to cry.
Frank was beside her in an instant, clutching her close as he lifted her up into his arms, her tiny, frozen body pressing against him, “I know, Hope. I know he is.”
Hope felt Frank’s warm lips press against her forehead as her eyes slid closed. Finally, her body relaxed in his arms.
Frank shared a worried glance with the other airmen. None of them had ever seen Hope look so broken, but knowing Gale, he’d do everything in his power to get to his girl. In the meantime, they had all made a promise to Gale that they would look out for Hope and Ruth. They knew all too well the hell John raised after losing Gale, too, and the least they could do was to look out for his girl.

[CN] MLQC's Lucien Binding Knot Date English Translation
⚠️ SPOILER ALERT!! ⚠️
This post contains a detailed spoiler for a date that has not been released in EN yet! Feel free to notify me if there are any mistakes in the translation~
Tumblr media
She told me that a person's life is too short. In the blink of an eye, it's five years, and then another blink, it's ten years.
That's how she and her husband lived their lives, bickering and muddling through, and they ended up spending their whole lifetime together.
Looking back, the bumps in the road and trivial matters along the way don't hold much significance compared to being able to harmoniously live together for a lifetime.
Translation under the cut~
[Notes from Lux: Here's the CN video link if anyone want to follow along his Voice Acting. VERY recommended to re-read S1 chapter 9 and his Chinese Wedding SP Bound By Love/A Love Not in Vain because this date specifically references these two stories. AND perhaps Sacred Mountain Date regarding his belief in God(s)]

[Part 1]
Tumblr media
Lucien: Today is Saturday. Didn't we agree not to work?
Lucien places a bowl of freshly washed blueberries on the coffee table and casually feeds me a few. I sit on the sofa, engrossed in the documents on my laptop.
MC: Kiki has sorted the photography registration form; I need to quickly finish reviewing it so that I can contact them earlier.
Recently, our company launched a charity project called "Taking Family Portraits for One Hundred Elderly People." After the announcement was made, we received dozens of registration forms in just two days.
MC: By the way, Lucien, if any professors from Loveland University are interested in this project, you can invite them as well.
MC: We've rented the best photography studio, and the photographers are top-notch, so you can rest assured about the photo quality.
Lucien: With so many people applying, I think we should try to avoid giving slots to people we know, right?
MC: Don't worry. Even though we're promoting it as a hundred people externally, we've discussed it internally and will try to accommodate as many as possible.
MC: We're willing to help strangers, let alone the people we know.
Tumblr media
Lucien: In that case... I do have an idea.
Lucien points to the peace knot hanging on my wall- a knot that Grandma Wen taught me to weave, and it still hangs on one side of Lucien's bookshelf.
MC: Are you talking about Grandma Wen?
Grandma Wen is an elderly person who lives alone. Lucien and I have a close relationship with her. We've learned how to weave knots from her and even borrowed wedding attire. So, we visit her whenever we have free time.
She is also very hospitable to us, always arranging snacks for us to enjoy. She also advises us young people not to focus only on work but to remember to take care of ourselves.
Tumblr media
MC: Actually, I did consider inviting her at first, but Grandma Wen's husband has already passed away, and having her take a family portrait alone might be a bit…
Lucien: Are you worried that it might make her uncomfortable?
Seeing me nod, Lucien leans back on the sofa, tilts his head, and smiles slightly.
Lucien: [chuckles] I think she won't mind at all.
Lucien: How about we ask her? One never knows.
After a lengthy discussion, we decided to call Grandma Wen. I carefully choose my words and extend the invitation, but Grandma Wen laughs heartily and readily accepts.
We finalize the shooting schedule. Lucien and I will pick her up together when the time comes.
However, Grandma Wen suggests she'd like to bring her cat, Baby, along for the photoshoot.
-
[Part 2]
On the agreed-upon morning, we arrive punctually at Grandma Wen's doorstep. While Lucien parks the car, I take the initiative to go and knock on the door.
The black-and-white spotted little cat lies under the eaves, rolling around playfully and occasionally pawing at something in the air, looking quite content.
Tumblr media
MC: Baby~ Come here kitty for a hug~
But the little kitty pays no attention to me, completely engrossed in rolling on the ground. It rolls several times and ends up a meter away from me.
Lucien: (gently calls the kitty) Baby, come here.
Just as Lucien approaches, Baby suddenly gets up, takes two steps, and runs to Lucien's feet. It raises its paw and paw at the cuff of Lucien's pants, meowing incessantly.
Tumblr media
MC: That's quite a contrast in treatment!
MC: Although I've played with it plenty of times before, it still prefers you. That's unfair!
Lucien lowers his gaze and sighs at the cat.
Tumblr media
Lucien: [chuckles] You see, I didn't do anything, but she's angry just because you like me more.
Lucien: If you could talk, I'm sure you'd also think this is even more unfair to me, right?
Lucien crouches down and strokes the cat's head, using his fingers to rub its cheek gently.
Lucien: Please remember to be a little more coquettish with her later. Otherwise, I'll be in a tough spot.
Tumblr media
MC: ...Hmph, you're not in a tough spot at all!
Lucien can't resist laughing and takes out a sealed bag of cat treats from his pocket, feeding them to Baby.
Lucien: Baby is actually relatively easy to please. Just give it some treats a few more times, and it will be circling around you.
Grandma Wen: MC, you're here…
I turn around and see that Grandma Wen is already standing at the door.
MC: Grandma! You look so beautiful today!
Grandma Wen is wearing a short jacket with a standing collar and a diagonal button today. It's evident at a glance that the craftsmanship is exquisite.
The satin fabric is smooth and lustrous, while the embroidery is lifelike with intricate stitching.
Grandma Wen sheepishly waves her hand.
Grandma Wen: These are old clothes I haven't worn in seven or eight years. It's rare that I've taken them out.
MC: Old clothes? I can't tell. They look just like new…
MC: Is the embroidery on the hem here the Lotus Pond? Each lotus is transitioned with several colors... It's really beautiful!
MC: Did you embroider this yourself, Grandma?
Grandma Wen touches the hem, smoothing the embroidered threads of the lotus leaves.
Grandma Wen: My husband made this for me when he was still alive.
Grandma Wen: From pattern drafting to embroidery, he did every step himself, insisting that his craftsmanship was better than mine.
Grandma Wen: These embroideries used to be even more beautiful, but unfortunately, the thread colors have faded over time.
MC: I can't tell that the thread colors have faded. I think it looks incredibly beautiful.
MC: Your complexion looks great today. When it's time for the photo shoot, we'll have a hairstylist do your hair. We must create a hairstyle that compliments this dress perfectly.
Lucien walks over carrying a cat carrier and lets Grandma Wen check Baby's condition.
Tumblr media
Lucien: I used some cat treats to coax it into the carrier, and it didn't make any fuss and was very well-behaved.
Grandma Wen: Baby~ Baby, today we're going out for a photoshoot. After we get in the car, you must be good and not cause any trouble for your brothers and sisters, okay?
Grandma Wen claps her hands toward the cat inside the carrier, and Baby starts to scratch the carrier, about to meow. But Lucien offers a cat treat, and it immediately quiets down.
I give Lucien a thumbs up - only he can do it.
Lucien: How about you sit in the back with Grandma Wen later? If Baby wants to come out, you can feed it some cat treats.
MC: Mm, no problem~
Grandma Wen: Is it time to leave? Let me grab a few things.
Grandma Wen goes back inside and returns with a Chángshān covered in a dustproof cover. I have a vague idea of who the owner of this robe might be.
Grandma Wen: I made this Chángshān for my husband when I was young. It was his favorite outfit. I'll bring it along for the photoshoot. So, it's as if he's also accompanying me.
Tumblr media
Lucien takes a half step forward, probably thinking that the gown in the bag is not light and wanting to help Grandma Wen get it into the car. However, when he catches my gaze, he takes a step back.
Lucien: Let's get in the car, Grandma.
Lucien opens both car doors, assists Grandma Wen into the car, helps her fasten the seatbelt, and then checks that the cat carrier on my lap is secure before closing the car doors.
-
[Part 3]
Tumblr media
After arriving at the photography studio, the makeup artist has to apply makeup and do the hair for Grandma Wen.
I'm worried that Grandma Wen might hesitate to communicate her needs with the makeup artist, so I am constantly accompanying her, talking to her, and helping her with her makeup.
Lucien is responsible for taking care of Baby, who starts running around as soon as they enter the photography studio.
Grandma Wen: When we first found Baby in the wild, it was only as big as the palm of a human hand. I made a nest for it with a towel, and it slept under the dining table.
Grandma Wen: In the blink of an eye, it has grown so big.
Grandma Wen: When it was little, it wasn't this mischievous. It used to lie in the corner every day obediently and didn't let anyone approach. As soon as someone got close, it would run away.
Grandma Wen: Now, it plays with birds, teases dogs, and does all sorts of daring things. There's nothing it's afraid to do.
Grandma Wen gently squeezes my hand and says.
Grandma Wen: You should go outside and take a look. It's not easy for Professor Lucien to keep an eye on Baby all by himself. There are machines everywhere here. Don't let that smelly cat cause any trouble for you.
I nod and walk out of the makeup room.
Tumblr media
In the living room of the photography studio, there is a bright lounge area. Lucien is holding a cat teaser toy, playing with Baby as it pounces back and forth on the sofa.
MC: You even brought a cat teaser wand?
Lucien: Not just that, I also have a cat jingle bell ball and a laser pointer in the trunk.
Lucien: I consulted my colleagues who have pets, and they said that if you want your pets to behave well for photos, you need to let them play for a good hour beforehand.
Lucien: Once they get tired from playing, they can cooperate more.
I walk over and sit down on the sofa, gently petting Baby's head. It doesn't resist and tilts its head up, allowing me to scratch its chin.
Lucien finds a moment to rest and casually picks up a book from the bookshelf, leaning back on the sofa.
MC: (smiles) It seems like this method is working. It's already behaving quite well now.
Tumblr media
Lucien: It's probably just temporarily tired from playing. After a short rest, it will be jumping around again.
Lucien: After all, it's the most mischievous kitten I've ever seen.
Lucien gently taps the top of the Baby's head, and the kitten raises its front paw, quickly grabbing his finger.
Tumblr media
Lucien: It climbs trees, catches birds, and even fights with stray cats... When it's full of energy, there's no stopping it.
I recall not too long ago when Baby went missing again. When we found it, it was in the middle of a fight with a stray cat outside, and its face was scratched up.
We were afraid that Grandma Wen would worry if she saw its condition, so we didn't return it directly. Instead, we told her that we were taking it to the hospital for a check-up and would bring it back once it recovered.
MC: (smiles softly) Do you remember what you said the last time we took Baby to the hospital?
Lucien: Hm?
MC: You said that despite its many escapades, Grandma Wen never considered keeping it indoors and always let it go out to play.
Tumblr media
Lucien: I remember, if it were up to me, I wouldn't let this little cat run wild everywhere.
I pick up the cat teaser toy and start playing with the little cat, swinging it on and off.
MC: As soon as we mentioned taking a family photo, Grandma Wen immediately thought of bringing the cat along.
MC: It's clear that in Grandma Wen's heart, it's her most important family member.
Tumblr media
MC: That's how it is among family members. No matter how worried or concerned we are, we still want the other person to be happy and do what they want to do.
Lucien: ….Our Great Producer has something to say and found a good way to start the conversation.
Noticing that I had a hidden agenda, Lucien had already guessed what it was.
Lucien: Grandma Wen already told you, didn't she?
MC: Right before the makeup session, Grandma Wen pulled me aside in a corner to talk.
MC: She said that you've been to the Matchmaker's Temple alone several times before and also visited her along the way.
I sigh meaningfully.
MC: Professor Lucien, have you encountered a problem that materialism* can't solve?
-
[T/N: Materialism in this context is more of a philosophical belief that only physical matter exists and that everything can be explained through the physical world and natural laws.]
-
Tumblr media
Lucien leans back leisurely on the sofa, wearing only a light smile.
Baby rolls over under his palm, purring contentedly.
Lucien: Gods don't solve problems. I'm a researcher, and I still have to uphold certain principles.
Lucien: But when it comes to matters of the heart, it's just too complicated... variables abound, and there's no optimal solution.
Lucien: So, I often wonder if a certain little fool occasionally worries about me or gets angry for me. Is it because I haven't done well enough?
He lifts the corner of his eyebrows, seeming not to be troubled by this matter, just candidly sharing his feelings.
The unbridled sunlight streams through the curtains, illuminating the tenderness in his eyes with exceptional clarity.
Lucien: Questions without answers are better left to metaphysics.
Lucien: Even if the problem doesn't get solved, you can still find some comfort in it to some extent.
As Lucien speaks, he no longer plays with Baby. The cat feels neglected and keeps nudging Lucien's palm with its head.
I stroke its fluffy head and realize that it's been a very long time since the first time I saw this cat with Lucien in the wheat field.
Some things probably don't have answers in either science or metaphysics; the experiences of life are what will eventually reveal the truth.
MC: Lucien, do you know what Grandma Wen just said to me?
Lucien: Tell me.
Tumblr media
MC: She told me that a person's life is too short. In the blink of an eye, it's five years, and then another blink, it's ten years.
MC: That's how she and her husband lived their lives, bickering and muddling through, and they ended up spending their whole lifetime together.
MC: Looking back, the bumps in the road and trivial matters along the way don't hold much significance compared to being able to harmoniously live together for a lifetime.
Lucien straightens up, seeing that there's no one around, and then suddenly leans down to place a kiss on my forehead.
Tumblr media
The warm sunshine reflects in his eyes as he looks at me. He smiles a little and casually picks up the kitty, holding it in his arms as if nothing happened.
Lucien: Grandma Wen is right.
-
[Part 4]
Tumblr media
After the lighting technician adjusts the lighting, Lucien and I stand in the corner of the photography studio.
Grandma Wen sits on the mahogany bench, spreading her husband's Chángshān flat across her lap. The photographer holds Baby and places it on the Chángshān.
The naturally mischievous cat is being incredibly well-behaved at this moment. No matter how the photographer handles it, it's willing to cooperate and even knows how to look at the camera.
Photographer: Grandma, please reach out your hand and gently touch the cat's head—yes, that's right, just a natural touch will do.
Photographer: This cat is so well-behaved, cooperative and calm.
Grandma Wen: Good Baby, I'll make you some fish to eat when we get back tonight.
Photographer: Grandma, let's maintain this pose and take two more shots.
Lucien gazes at the scene before him, momentarily lost in thought.
Tumblr media
Lucien: From the first time we entered her house, I noticed that there were no photos of her and her husband displayed in her home.
Lucien: Upon careful inquiry, I discovered that they had indeed never taken any photos together.
Lucien: ...Two people spending a lifetime together is something worth commemorating. They should have had a photo together.
After he says that, he turns his head slightly and whispers in my ear.
Lucien: Thanks to the producer's help, at least Grandma Wen has a family portrait now, regardless of the circumstances.
For a moment, I'm unsure of what to say.
He's truly humble for someone who has doubted his understanding of love.
—--------------------------------------------------------
After the shoot, Lucien and I accompanied Grandma Wen back the same way we came.
Grandma Wen: Stay for dinner. You two don't be so polite…
Grandma Wen: I feel bad that both of you have been busy all day. Having a meal together is no big deal, just a few extra pairs of chopsticks.
We don't want her to have to deal with cooking after a long day of photoshoots, so we politely decline.
Tumblr media
Lucien: Grandma, it's still early. MC and I plan to visit the Matchmaker Temple, so we won't stay.
Lucien: You've had a long day today. Remember to rest well.
MC: Yes, Grandma. After the photos are developed, I'll bring them to you right away. We'll have the meal you promised then.
Grandma Wen didn't insist on keeping us any longer, but she promised that the next time we visit, we must stay for a meal. We quickly nodded in agreement.
—--------------------------------------------------------
On the way to the Matchmaker Temple, the sun gradually sets, casting a beautiful array of evening colors between the trees and stone steps. It's hard for anyone walking through this scenery not to feel relaxed.
MC: It's quite rare for this place to be this peaceful.
Tumblr media
Lucien: Festivals have yet to happen recently, so there are very few tourists. The Matchmaker God can take a break too.
MC: With no incense burning at the Matchmaker Temple, does it mean that everyone hasn't been facing relationship difficulties? It seems like a good thing, doesn't it?
Tumblr media
Lucien: (shushes and whispers) Shhh... with a troubling view like that, you might upset the Matchmaker God. Be careful not to displease him.
I can't help but laugh at his teasing, and I also find his words reasonable. I quickly pull Lucien to pay respects to the Matchmaker and offer incense.
I hope that the Matchmaker is understanding and doesn't take my words to heart.
After offering incense and making a donation, Lucien and I found a couple of chairs inside the temple and sat down. We plan to watch the sunset for a while and leave when the temple closes.
The faint scent of sandalwood here blends with the natural aroma of the forest, creating a tranquil and enduring atmosphere that instantly soothes the heart. I lean closer to Lucien and ask softly.
MC: Lucien, what wishes did you make when you came here alone before? Have any of them come true?
Lucien bends slightly, brushing away a cluster of dandelion seeds that accidentally caught onto his shirt cuff. He then leisurely curves his lips into a smile.
Tumblr media
Lucien: I don't even remember the specific wishes I made anymore.
Lucien: They were probably just about small things, like planning to meet up but then having something come up at the research institute, causing me to break the appointment.
Lucien: Another example is when I promise to sleep well, but then accidentally stay up for a few nights and get caught by you.
Tumblr media
Lucien: (laughs softly)....
Lucien: Now that I think about it, they were indeed all trivial matters, and you've always been very understanding.
Lucien lifts his gaze, meeting my eyes.
Tumblr media
Lucien: Although we quickly forget these minor disagreements.
Lucien: But occasionally, I do pay attention to these little disagreements that fill our lives. After all, even the smallest things have their own meaning.
I can't help but let my lips curl up slowly, and Lucien lifts his chin, revealing a somewhat helpless expression.
Lucien: It's evident that the Great Producer is very pleased with my introspection.
Tumblr media
MC: …..Pfft, not exactly 'very'.
MC: I'm just marveling at how Professor Lucien sets such astonishingly high standards for himself.
MC: It seems like I don't reflect on my actions much when I make you angry... But from today on, I'll try to change that.
Lucien: [chuckles] It's okay.
Lucien changes the topic, and a smile spreads in his eyes.
Lucien: Now that I think about it, these little bumps and trivial matters aren't really that important.
He takes a knot from his pocket and hands it to me. The way the knot is tied resembles the peace knot that Grandma Wen had taught me before, but the weaving method seems more intricate.
Tumblr media
Lucien: This is a knot that Grandma Wen taught me to weave as a special thank you for us.
Lucien: She also said that the name of this knot is yí shì yíjiā (宜室宜家).
Lucien: Today, it seems like I have a clearer understanding of the meaning of this word.
-
[T/N: 宜室宜家 is a Chinese idiom that means "live harmoniously; make a harmonious and orderly home." It is often used as a congratulatory message on a wedding. The idiom comes from a line in the poem "Tao Yao" in the Book of Songs, which reads, "之子于归,宜其室家" (the son is returning home, where he should live harmoniously with his wife and make a harmonious and orderly home). And it fits with the date theme of living harmoniously together for a lifetime despite all the small bumps🥺.]
-
Suddenly, my heart feels soft, and I take a small step closer to Lucien's shoulder. I pick up my phone and open the front camera.
I put both of us in the frame.
The setting sun casts a gentle glow behind us, and the breeze is light, creating a tranquil and beautiful atmosphere.
MC: The sunset today looks beautiful. Let's take a photo together.
Tumblr media
MC: 3, 2, 1–
My trailing voice fades away in the warm breath as Lucien lowers his head and kisses me.
----------------------------------------------------------
[Bonus Call - "Family Portrait"]
Lucien: Hello, it's me. I have some good news to tell you.
MC: What is it?
Lucien: Didn't you put Grandma Wen's family portrait photo on the company's public social media account?
MC: Um... Grandma Wen said it was okay, so I posted it. What's the matter?
Lucien: A professor from the university recognized Grandma Wen's clothes and said he had seen the person in the photo before, right at the West Moon Street intersection.
Lucien: This professor was a photography enthusiast when he was younger, and at the time, he noticed Grandma Wen's well-dressed appearance and couldn't resist taking a photo.
Lucien: Later on, he always wanted to give the photo to Grandma Wen, but he went to West Moon Street a few times and never encountered them again.
MC: "Them?"
Lucien: Mm, that's the good news I wanted to share. The photo the professor took is a picture of Grandma Wen and her husband.
MC: That's quite a coincidence!
Lucien: There's an even greater coincidence.
Lucien: I just got my hands on this photo, and in it, Grandma Wen is holding a tiny kitten the size of her palm.
MC: Is it Baby?
Lucien: Judging by its patterns, it seems so.
Lucien: Although the photo is quite old, I've contacted a professional photo restoration expert, and if all goes well, it should be restored within about a week.
MC: So, we can bring this photo to Grandma Wen next weekend?
Lucien: Exactly. They're real family portraits, and I hope it can truly make up for her regrets.
MC: ...It's really amazing, it feels like there's something guiding us in all of this.
Lucien: Who knows, maybe it really is.
Lucien: Let's go together to get the photo restored later. I know you're eager to see it as soon as possible.
MC: Um—I'll finish up what I'm doing, and then I'll come find you right away!
--------------------------------------------------------
[Lux's Short Rambles]
I didn't expect this date to be this good huhu. It's far better than last pet date where it feels like a plot that got way longer than it should 😂. It's also nice to see old NPCs getting mentioned again. The story of Grandma Wen with her husband is touching.
The theme of spending a lifetime together, despite how short life is, never fails got my heart clenched. And I love how this date highlights what a sensitive person Lucien is (in a good way, well, most of the time). He doesn't mind her getting angry at him because he knows that she does it because she cares about him. But he also genuinely fears that she might not be happy; so he goes to the Matchmaker's Temple alone and cares about these small conflicts, believing that they also have meaning :". But in the end, such trivial things and bumps on the road don't matter compared to being able to live their whole lives together, so rather than getting caught up in minor conflicts or trivial matters along the way it's better to priotize living together harmoniously for a lifetime.
He also noticed the smallest things, like how Grandma Wen and her husband never had their photo taken together since the very first time he and MC met Grandma Wen back in S1 Chapter 9. To quote MC, for someone who claimed he doesn't understand what love is, he's truly humble; perhaps back then, he already understands what love is in his heart by loving MC.

Fic Recs #1
It's two A.M.. I'm not quite sure what to do because I'm not sleepy. Why not do a small recommendation list?
Actual recs under the cut. Read until the end!
All of these are pre-season 2, and take place in the show universe.
Talk About It (T)
by hope_in_the_dark (on Tumblr as @hope-inthedark)
Aziraphale and Crowley have been best friends for sixteen years. Crowley's been in love with Aziraphale for almost that long. When Aziraphale tells his family that he'll be bringing his boyfriend to his step-brother's wedding, things get a bit complicated. A Fake Dating AU.
Word count: 20806 (Complete)
I love fake dating AUs SO MUCH. And this is for sure one of the best ones out there. It's the perfect length, and there are snapshots through time that are simply lovely. I'm usually not a fan of the "long-time friends" trope, but this fic does it wonderfully. I don't want to say much more because I don't want to spoil anything but - it's great. Read it.
.
.
The Curve of Old Bones (E)
by Jenanigans1207 (@jenanigans1207)
Aziraphale watches as Crowley’s smile grows, sharpens and turns distinctively dastardly. And even though Aziraphale knows what he’s in store for, he’s entirely unprepared for the words that slip out of Crowley’s mouth next. “Name’s Anthony Crowley, Aziraphale’s husband.” Aziraphale is eternally grateful that he wasn’t taking a sip of his tea at that exact moment for he would’ve surely choked on it. -- When Crowley claims to be Aziraphale's husband to ruin what he assumes is a date, he doesn't think anything of it. But a day later it comes back to bite him in the ass when Crowley finds out that the date in question is, in fact, his new boss, who is looking to hire Aziraphale and hoping that Crowley, his husband, will put in a good word for them. Now Crowley is caught in a tight spot: either admit to his new boss that he was lying, or convince Aziraphale, his sort-of enemy, to pretend to be his husband to save face.
Words: 201271 (Complete)
Fair warning before you start: this one is LONG. I read really fast and even for me, this took a while. Every word is beautiful, but this is (well. Partly.) a slooooooww burn. If you don't like pining, or the two main ones being idiots: don't read this. But if you decide to give it a go, this story is absolutely worth your while.
.
.
Married at First Sight (T)
by Aracloptia (@aracloptia)
“Well, that was a thing,” Crowley said once they were out of earshot. Without talking about it, they were both heading down the field, towards the lake where the photographer (and likely a few more people from the TV crew) was waiting. “That was a wedding,” Aziraphale replied, surprised at his own annoyance that somebody called a wedding a ‘thing’. “Yeah, obviously, didn’t miss that part,” Crowley said with a shrug, and waved abruptly in Aziraphale’s general direction. “Neither did you, from the looks of it, since you’re dressed like a wedding bride and everything.” “Excuse me, I am a—“ Aziraphale stopped himself, and started over.
——— In which Aziraphale ends up marrying a rude stranger who wears sunglasses.
Words: 92583 (Ongoing)
Ha. Yet another fake relationship AU... This time it's a fake marriage! But it's so so so cute and lovely and if it were corporeal I would want to squish its cheeks. There's a bit of miscommunication, so people who don't like that can be cautious, but it gets resolved and they become the better for having gone through it.
.
.
The Next Time We Wed (T)
by seashadows (@godihatethisfreakingcat)
“Guys, I’ve looked at the marriage license,” Anathema said, “and I’ve gotten copies of our notices and everything. The names on the documents aren’t Newt’s and mine anymore. Apparently they never were. They’re yours.” When a drunken attempt to help a friend gets Crowley and Aziraphale accidentally married, their decision to fake it instead of fix it changes their relationship in a way neither of them realizes the other wants. Over the course of a few short months, two supernatural beings discover that there are plenty of things they don’t know about each other, two humans finally get married (again), and everyone learns how to be a little braver.
Words: 21131 (Complete)
The footnotes. The FOOTNOTES. I love a good footnote, and this fic is riddled with them. It's one of the very first Good Omens fics I read and loved, so it has a special place in my heart. The humour drew me in immediately, and the plot and emotional moments kept me in. READ IT. READ IT NOW, I SAY.

Everything That's Meant (T)
by journeytogallifrey (@journeytogallifrey)
When two unconventional lead actors are cast in the series adaptation of Agnes Nutter's Prophecies, sparks fly and new ground is broken. Aziraphale Fell, classically trained and known for powerful biopics, yearns for a popular lead but is hindered by his brother's insistence that he stay in the closet. Anthony J. Crowley has perfected flashy, charismatic villains, but wonders if a hero will ever be on the cards for him. With Aziraphale as the angel Raphael and Crowley as the demon Asmodeus, something feels... off. But a breakthrough during a late-night rehearsal sets into motion something greater than they ever dreamed. Now all they have to do is overcome nefarious producers, bigotry, and a set that seems to be haunted by all manner of spirits and curses - all while falling for each other in a way Crowley finds exhilarating and Aziraphale finds terrifying. If they can survive it all, they'll come out the other side with the series of their career... and maybe even a chance at their own happily ever after. ~~~ Pre-written; updates daily until complete!
Words: 105043 (Complete)
I was lucky enough to witness this as it was updating, and it's wonderful! I'm very fond of actor AUs, and this was a great one. Journeytogallifrey made good choices, and there are plenty of moments where I audibly laughed, gasped, or cried. Special mention to Crowley's relationship with gender.

wasteland, baby (M)
by john1513 (@alwayscomewhenyoucall)
“Listen. Fell. I...I might, uh, have an idea.” “You do?” Aziraphale said, and hated the hopeful way he said it. “I’ll do it.” “You...won’t like it.” “Will it keep me out of prison?” “Maybe. Maybe the both of us. For now. Ideally.” “Then yes.” Crowley’s expression tightened, and Aziraphale wasn’t sure if Crowley wanted to cry, or laugh. “You really, really won’t like it.” “I’ll like prison less.” He responded plainly. Crowley’s face twisted into something soft at first, just for a second, before searing into a careful little smirk, and Aziraphale knew that smile, that Cheshire cat smile, much too well to not be cautious. “Crowley, dear. What are you doing on the floor?” He cleared his throat. “Angel. Remember when I said you wouldn’t like it? Well, uh, here we are.” His smile grew awkwardly, apologetically, and Aziraphale had a sinking feeling about it. “Angel. Will you marry me?” ----- Crowley and Aziraphale plan a fake marriage to avoid having to testify against each other in court...they get much more than they bargained for.
Words: 45748 (Complete)
I found this while looking for fake relationships, but I'm not quite sure the term applies. It's just so sweet and kind and GOOD and fluffy. If you like both being nice, go here. And even if you don't. It's technically a mafia AU even though I forgot about that part so there's a little bit of grittiness nonetheless. Overall a very nice read.
.
.
And finally, for the last one...
Fifty-Two Blue (M)
by bendycello (@bendycello )
It would be a gross understatement to say that Crowley simply didn't like Aziraphale. He was posh and stuffy and arrogant, and Crowley couldn't figure out why everyone else in the program liked him so much. It hardly mattered; they were competitors, and Crowley didn't need to make friends to become a surgeon. It takes several unleasant encounters, the excessive use of house plants as a coping mechanism, and getting stuck in an elevator for Crowley to start reconsidering his priorities. Or... Crowley and Aziraphale are surgical interns with competitive streaks a mile wide each, and they really do not like each other at all. Until they do. (This whole fic is pre-written and completed, and updates will usually be weekly on Saturdays!)
Words: 37976 (Ongoing)
So. Anyone who knows me well knows that this is on my mind 24/7. I post about it fairly regularly. I go insane when a new chapter is up. It's *The* Fic. When I started this I knew this was going to be there. I can't even describe it it's just SO GOOD ARGH. (it's also long) I've read it so much Chrome automatically sorted it into one of my most visited websites. (I'm not even kidding.) The humour is perfect, the plot is too, the CHARACTERISATION. OH MY GOD. IT'S SO GOOD AND SO COMPLEX. I'm trying to stop myself from going on a rant about it because it could last for a while.
.
.
I also love receiving recs, so if anyone wants to boost their fic or wants to share a great one, please do!
I really like fake dating (if you couldn't guess), human AUs, all that sort of thing. But please feel free to share anything that doesn't deal with those themes!
I'm OwlWolf22091 on Ao3, in case you want to check out other bookmarks :P

A/N: Happy Mother’s Day to my US mothers out there. I hope you had as lovely a day as Kensi. Just think, this is her first Mother’s Day as a mom of three.
***
A Picture Worth a Thousand Words
“Is she gone?” Rosa asked, popping her head through the front door.
“Yeah, she just left,” Deeks confirmed, holding back a smile as Rosa crept in, clearly enjoying the subterfuge. She had a couple of canvas bags with her, which she set on the dining room table. “Will Andrea be here soon?
“Yes, she’s about five minutes away.”
“Sweet, I’ll get the twins up and feed them so we’re ready once everything’s set up.”
A few weeks ago, amidst a midnight feeding, it had occurred to Deeks that Mother’s Day was quickly approaching and he’d planned absolutely nothing. With all the recent changes between the twins, leave, and looking for new jobs, it had gotten lost in the shuffle. Deep down, he knew Kensi wouldn’t care much—she always said she didn’t need holidays to know how much they cared—but Deeks wanted to celebrate her. Especially since last Mother’s Day had been overridden by doctor’s appointments and the aftermath of Anna and Callen’s wedding.
Between him and Rosa, they’d come up with a photo album along with a few other gifts. Rosa had recommended one of her friends, Andrea, who was a burgeoning photographer for the photoshoot.
Deeks went to wake up Sophia and Caleb and feed them. Fortunately, they woke up happy, giggling, and babbling away. When they were done eating, he dressed them in little blue outfits he’d kept hidden at the back of the junk closet.
Once they were dressed, Deeks brought them out to Rosa, who had changed into a sundress in a similar shade to the twins’, and headed back in to his and Kensi’s bedroom to change. He chose a dress shirt in Kensi’s favorite shade of blue along with white pants.
By the time he came back out, Andrea had arrived with her equipment, and was currently down on the floor, playing with the twins. When she saw Deeks, she hopped up, brushing a handful of curly brown hair out of her eyes.
“Hi Mr. Deeks.”
“Hey Andrea, thanks so much for coming,” Deeks said, reaching out to shake Andrea’s hand. Caleb held out both arms, and he stooped to pick him up, cradling him on one forearm.
“Of course. I love family photoshoots,” she assured him. “So, just so I’m clear, how much time do we have today?”
“Kensi is at a in-service so she should be gone for a good 3-4 hours.” Negotiating Kensi’s absence had been the most difficult part to finagle, since she spent significantly more time at home these days.
“Perfect,” Andrea said with a grin. “Should we start outside?”
“Come on, my Sofía,” Rosa said, scooping Sophia up. “Let’s go make pretty pictures for mommy.
***
A Few Weeks Later
“Deeks, why did you let me order the tiramisu?” Kensi groaned, leaning her head on his shoulder. He grinned, briefly cupping her cheek, and kissing her temple. She had a post-nursing Sophia balanced again her chest while Caleb snuggled into the other side of his neck.
“Because it’s Mother’s Day and what my Ladybird wants, my Ladybird gets,” he said, grinning even wider when that earned him a giggle from Kensi.
“You’re ridiculous.” Her hand creeping up his chest said otherwise.
“Hey enough flirting!” Rosa called out. Caleb startled at the sound of his voice, turning his head to find her in the room. He babbled something, reaching for her with an open hand. “It’s time for presents,” Rosa continued excitedly. She’d taken great joy in crossing and creating Kensi’s gifts.
“Oh my god, you did not have to get me presents on top of breakfast in bed and dinner,” Kensi protested. Ignoring her, Rosa jogged out of the room. Kensi narrowed her eyes at Deeks, but he just shrugged innocently.
Rosa returned a minute later with two wrapped packages and a gift bag.
“Here, I’ll swap you,” Deeks offered, holding out his free hand for Sophia.
“Open this one first,” Rosa encouraged as she gave Kensi the bag, sitting on the end of the couch. Kensi reached in and pulled out a tuft of tissue paper and a black and white gift certificate.
“Ooh, a spa session. I know where I’m going after work this Friday,” Kensi said. “Mama needs a massage.” She wiggled Caleb’s foot. She looked to Kensi and Deeks then. “Thank you, guys.”
The next gift contained a selection of Kensi’s favorite snacks. Rosa handed her the final gift, folding her fingers together in with slightly nervous anticipation.
“This one feels like a book. Did you get me the next one on in that series I—” She broke off as the paper fell away to reveal a large photo album. “Oh my god,” she whispered, running her fingers over the cover picture.
“Open it up,” Deeks suggested, and she silently turned to the first page, which featured Deeks, Rosa, and the twins on the patio swing. She flipped through a few more pages, shaking her head at each picture.
They’d chosen a variety of professional shots as well as several candids.
“These are so beautiful,” Kensi murmured, running her fingers over a crisp picture of her cuddling the twins, their heads all thrown back in laughter.
“We wanted to give you a physical reminder of how much we love you and how important you are to this family,” Deeks explained softly. “We couldn’t do this without our Mama Blye.”
Kensi pressed her hand over her mouth, eyes suspiciously wet, and he felt his own eyes tear up slightly too. She reached for Deeks, her mouth wet on his when they kissed. Pulling back, she looped her arm around Rosa’s shoulders, tugging her closer so they were in a modified group hug.
“It is perfect,” she murmured, squeezing them tightly before she leaned back, wiping under her eyes. “I love it so much.”
“You’re welcome,” Rosa said.
“I don’t know when you found the time. When did you even take this?” Kensi asked, shaking her head in disbelief as she continued looking through the album, flipping back to the front cover. It featured the entire family perched on the front steps.
“Remember when I told you I needed a current family picture for a class project?” Rosa asked.
“Oh I completely forgot about that.” Kensi pressed her palm to her forehead, then narrowed her eyes at Rosa. “That’s extremely sneaky of you.”
“I know.” Rosa nodded smugly.
“I can’t believe how much effort you put into all of this,” Kensi continued.
“It was worth it.” Rosa nodded in agreement to his statement. “Happy Mother’s Day, Kensialina,” Deeks murmured. “We’re lucky to have you.”

KunZoi doujin: LOVE
Tumblr media
This doujin is by and_ananan (twitter), and is a presumably post-canon/post-resurrection story about Kunzite and Zoisite's wedding night, plus a little bit after, and the rest of the Shitennou show up too. Again, this is R18 and definitely NSFW.
It's very cute and silly, highly recommend checking it out! Something really special about this one is the way the cover is printed—it's on some special material that gives it a really cool texture and shine, in addition to the gold foil. Unfortunately, that doesn't come through in photographs.
Available here on booth!

PRINCE FONSI DEMANDS PATERNITY TEST
Uh-oh... Is trouble brewing for the soon-to-be husband and wife?
The latest buzz from Selvadorada reveals that not only is Prince Fonsi rethinking the whole wedding thing (which has been "pushed back" at least twice), he also seems to be doubting whether or not he's gonna be a daddy.
Multiple Selvadoradan news outlets reported that Prince Fonsi is unsure whether his fiancée is telling the truth. A source reportedly close to the Prince shares:
"Fonsi, to begin with, agreed to marry Felicity because she claimed she was pregnant. He didn't want to leave his child fatherless, so he stepped up. He was convinced he could fall in love with her eventually, but what was important was he would be there for the baby. Even his brother, the King, advised against it, but Fonsi was adamant. He would be a good dad to his kid.
But then suddenly, shortly after the engagement was announced, Felicity said she wasn't pregnant and that it had been a false positive all along. The King immediately recommended that his brother call off the engagement, but Fonsi thought it would be a huge embarrassment to Felicity and her family to announce it so soon after their engagement was made public. He agreed to announce the end of the engagement a few months after, which was why it was "rescheduled" multiple times.
But lo and behold, Felicity was pregnant again, this time complete with a doctor's note. At first, Fonsi was pleased, but considering recent events plus rumours of Felicity's alleged infidelity, he's now demanding that a paternity test be conducted before any wedding will take place. This has, of course, the full stamp of approval of the King. The King is convinced that something doesn't seem right and the 'math' doesn't quite add up."
Tumblr media
The Selvadoradan King, who happens to be Fonsi's older brother, has always been protective of his younger sibling. The source further reveals:
"The King hates this situation. He loves his brother to pieces, but he's just really frustrated that he's once again in trouble. It's not the first time Fonsi has been put in a difficult position because of his impulsive character and hard-headedness. The King acknowledges that his brother's heart is in the right place. Sadly, Prince Fonsi isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, if you know what I mean. That's why His Majesty is always on the lookout for his brother. He can be a little gullible and short-sighted at times. He means well, but I'm afraid he's just not very bright."
Despite the dramatic turn of events in the Fonsi+Felicity saga, it looks like the Prince is putting a brave face. His Royal Highness made a solo engagement today to the Selvadorada Polo Club, and was photographed looking every bit like his jolly and carefree self.
