The tragedy of Severus Snape
The reason why Severus Snape is the most tragic character in the Harry Potter series
Snape‘s character isn‘t so tragic because he didn‘t „get“ Lily.
His character is so tragic because he was doomed from the very beginning.
It‘s so tragic, because he was hit by his drunk father.
It‘s so tragic because he was neglected by his mother.
It‘s tragic because he was separated by his childhood friend by being sorted into a house where you couldn‘t survive as a halfblood if you didn‘t adapt to the social rules of said house and joining a hateful cult.
He is a tragic character because he is bullied from day one and sexually harrassed in front of the other students.
His loss of Lily is so tragic, because she was the only friend he ever had.
It‘s so tragic because she was the only person in his life to show him understanding and kindness, warmth and love.
The love of a friend.
It‘s so tragic because noone ever showed him love again after Lily.
It is so tragic because he is silenced over the werewolf incident and forbidden from telling anyone he was almost murdered.
It‘s so tragic because he has to see his almost murderers and bullies get away with it without any form of punishment.
He is silenced.
It‘s tragic because he has to watch the love of his life marry his childhood tormentor.
It‘s tragic because he has to kill one of the only people he ever cared about. The only person who knows about his true loyalties.
It‘s so tragic because he dies believing the world will always believe him to be the villain.
A traitor and the murderer of Dumbledore.
He dies thinking that the truth about his loyalty will die with him and Harry.
It‘s so tragic because the only other person in his life to show him kindness(, when he stays with him while he dies,)is the son of the love of his life who he lost.
It is so tragic, because he dies in the belief that he has doomed this boy, the boy he always protected.
He dies in the belief that all of it was in vain.
He dies thinking that all of it was for nothing.
He dies believing that he is sending Harry who he tried to protect all these years to his death.
His death is so tragic because of all of the above reasons and also because he is murdered in cold blood.
He is killed slowly. He is terrified. He knows what‘s coming and that he can‘t safe himself.
He is killed by the person he fears the most.
His death must have been unbearably painful and agonizing.
He must have been in so much pain.
It’s so tragic because he never had a chance.
Snapes character is so unbelievably tragic because he was never intended to have a happy ending.
It‘s so tragic because his whole life was nothing but a tragedy.

This picture gave me an idea for another Hazbin Hotel Au
Tumblr media
(I found the picture in Pinterest. I don't know who made it, but it's great and it made me laught)
So, the idea for the AU is this:
After the fight against Adam and the exterminators, a new sinner arrives at hell. The first thing it does is to take everything from the Vees. Becoming that way in a new overlord.
The Vees are left homeless and powerless, they want to take back what's rightfully theirs.
"But how? They lost everything!" So they thought, until Valentino found Angel Dust's soul contract in one of his pockets.
Apparently, Valentino kept the contract there when Angel tried to steal it. That's why it wasn't with the other contracts when the new sinner attacked the V Tower.
Vox proposes the idea of forcing Angel to let them stay at the Hazbin Hotel, so at least they stop being homeless.
Velvette and Valentino didn't like the idea at first (Because they view the hotel as nothing more than a joke) but they end up agreeing with Vox's plan to stop being hungry and to stop having to sleep in the streets.
And so, chaos ensues.
(I think I'll call this AU Vee's Redemption or Vees at the hotel. What do you think about it?)
๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;
Also, do you want the new sinner to be Adam or do you want to create the new sinner with me?
I think the second option would be funnier, but please, share your thoughts in the commets.
๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;๑⸙;
Edit = The new sinner
At the end I decided to call the AU Vees at the hotel.

The best thing about zuko's redemption arc is the fact that he RELAPSED. Something that I have never seen before. It's such a good idea and it tells us so much about his character and story.
He's a confused fella who only wanted to be appreciated and get his honor back. That was his main focus.
Therfore a redemption is a hard thing to process. Especially when all you have ever been taught is how your nation deserves greatness no matter how you get it.
So he commits the unthinkable, fights alongside his sister, betrays Katara, betrays his LOVING UNCLE and goes back to his father and his "home" a hero.
But as soon as he's back, he doesn't feel fulfilled. He actually starts questioning his father's plans. He starts realising how cruel all this may be. Then finally he chooses to work out what to do next, what his real destiny might be. And boom everything falls into place. I mean yeah he gets a little nudge from his LOVING UNCLE but he still moves on his own.
He leaves to get his honor back again. Though this time it's for good and it's by DOING good. Since he also understands that no one is giving you your honor or taking it away. You alone affects it and that's just beautiful.
So yeah thank you for enjoying this Ted talk😘.

Me: I mean, I like Astarion well enough, always good to ahve a tortured morally ambiguous twink around, but I'm not sure I understand why players thirst over him so much. I dunno, maybe he's just not my type?
Me, later: *recruits Minthara in a Good playthrough and facilitates her subsequent redemption arc and bringing out the hidden goodness in her as she learns to see the world beyond power and cruelty and falls for you at the same time.*

Underrated Ninth Doctor Things:
How distinctly working class his vibe is! Aside from his nice leather jacket, his outfit is fairly simple, his accent is from a working class area (Eccleston is from a working class background himself), his companion is working class, and he wears a pair of sturdy work boots. I really love this about his vibe since the working class, particularly in English media it seems, aren't portrayed very well.
His seriousness. A lot of people seem to not like this about him, but I really like it. He's serious for good reason — he just blew everything he'd ever loved and known to hell, which is why it makes sense he's more somber than other Doctors. Not to mention that seriousness as a quality in general is underrated — sometimes serious people aren't buzzkills! A huge benefit to serious people is that they're more careful oftentimes, which seems like a lack of fun, but can often be better in the long run.
His sense of humor. Can he be harsh? Yes. But almost every Doctor can be. He's also got a lot of great one liners. "What are you gonna do, moisturize me?" Classic!
His care for innocent lives. He may have gone too far at times with killers and villains, but when it came to innocents, Nine cared very deeply. He was heartbroken over the death of a pig creature and proclaimed that he would rather be a coward than a killer. There are so many instances of this throughout his run, it's beautiful.
His redemption. Nine is a man who'd just killed billions. This is the story of him pushing back his old self. This is the story of him turning from the man who'd destroyed worlds and becoming the man who saved them. This is a story of a good soldier who'd proclaimed he'd never be a coward, turning from that and becoming a man who said he'd rather be a coward than a killer.
His wonder. As a character he fills us with wonder. And as a character he shows wonder at the ordinary. (When he's not insulting species under pressure, of course.)
His portrayal of mental health. This is just my opinion of course, but Nine seems to display symptoms of trauma and depression. But it's very realistic. People with trauma and depression often don't show it in ways you would expect and they don't show it all the time. Nine will lash out when someone brings up something related to his trauma, such as when Rose asks him about where he's from. He'll also laugh and crack a joke. That's just how it is sometimes.
The joy he takes in certain things. Like his euphoric "just this once, everybody lives!" or how excited he gets at the chance to impress Rose. When Nine is happy, I'm happy!
Christopher Eccleston's acting! I think Eccleston gets a lot unnecessary hate from people for leaving. The man wanted to stick by his ethics and he was going through a very difficult period of his life. And even if he just didn't want to be in the show anymore — so? He doesn't owe you an explanation as to why he doesn't want to be part of a show anymore. In addition, playing the Doctor doesn't mean his life has to now revolve around Doctor Who. The man gave us a great performance and that is all we are allowed to ask of him.
All in all I love Nine and I love Chris Eccleston's performance! Add on more reasons you love Nine in the notes!! :)

Snape and what a victim is supposed to look like.
Or: The reason you all hate him so much while making up excuses for other characters!
Would he still be so despised by the fandom, if he had been portrayed as weaker? As more emotional?
No, i don’t think so.
Others have said this before and i have to agree with what they said:
Y‘all are angry, because he is not the perfect victim.
He is not what you would expect a victim of abuse and bullying to look like.
He is confident.
He is strong.
He is sharp.
And he is bitter.
He is so, so bitter.
he harbours resentment.
He does not forgive those who wronged him.
When that is exactly what you would expect from a victim, is it not??
A victim is supposed to look weak and behave weak and to suck it up.
And to forgive.
When you tell people they have to forgive their tormentors, do you really tell them that so that they can heal?
Or…. so you don‘t have to deal with the mess?
Maybe, so you don‘t have to adjust your world view?
People are not obligated to forgive their tormentors.
It doesn‘t matter if they have changed.
What matters is how they made the victim feel.
And if the victim feels if they can forgive them.
And if they chose not to forgive, they turn in something else in your eyes.
They turn into the hater, the bully, the bad guy.
Bacause the victim is supposed to forgive and forget and let it go and not be bitter about it.
A victim is supposed to turn into a good person.
To learn from their experiences to be kinder to others.
To not treat others like they have been treated.
They are not supposed to not be able to let it go.
And if they are not able to do that, well then there‘s something wrong with them.
If a victim doesn‘t turn out the way they wanted them too, well - then they had it coming from the beginning and they probaly deserved what happened to them because they would have turned out bad either way!
Snape is the opposite of what a victim is supposed to be like.
Severus turned into a resentful and bitter adult.
He was never able to move on and heal from his trauma.
And at the same time, he knows who he is and what and doesn‘t make up excuses for his behaviour and instead just accepts himself the way he is.
And that is what makes you so fucking mad.
He turns into an asshole and is not sorry about it.
He is openly resentful and at times hateful.
And he is not fucking sorry about it.
And it makes all of you mad because that is not what is supposed to happen.
And let‘s not lie to yourselves- if he didn‘t have greasy hair and a hooked nose- you would look at him from an entirely different angle.
Like you do with Tom Riddle, or Regulus Black or Draco Malfoy.

thinking about redeemed villains who can't cope with how much suffering they caused in their past.
redeemed villains who only allow themselves the bare minimum for survival- plain gruel, a blanket when they sleep on the floor, tattered old clothes- because they don't feel like they deserve anything nicer.
redeemed villains who lie awake at night with every horrible thing they've ever done running through their mind.
redeemed villains who take dangerous risks on behalf of the heroes because they don't feel like they deserve to live.

Hello, I was wondering if you could have any friends to lovers drarry fic rec for me? I enjoy slow burn with a kind and soft Draco (where he isn’t a bully) or one where draco stood for the light side of the war (so preferably during the war). I just want want to see Draco have a strong friendship with the golden trio, really! (I don't mind if the romance is a subplot. I just want a focus on Draco)
(I quite literally watched Harry Potter with my sister thinking Draco was going to have a hell of a redemption arc and was sorely disappointed... So here I am seeking for comfort fics)
Anyways thanks in advance!
Hi anon! I feel you, Draco’s redemption arc was poorly done and so frustrating :( I hope you’ll enjoy these as they combine slow burn, friends to lovers and redeemed Draco. Some are told from Harry’s pov and while Draco’s not always soft I think his characterization will be right up your alley. You might also enjoy GallaPlacidia’s Draco, her fics were taken down but you can find them here. Finally, I have also added my personal favorites redemption arc as a separate category, highly recommend them. Enjoy!
Friends to lovers slow burn:
Vortex by @xanthippe74 (T, 20k)
The idea of perfectly-matched soulmates feels more like a curse than a blessing to Draco. Who would want a soulmate who was a schoolyard bully, a Death Eater, and a convicted felon? Certainly not Harry Potter. And Draco is determined to take this secret to the grave.
Nice Things by aideomai (M, 22k)
The first thing that happened was Theodore Nott came back from France.
With Great Yawns and Stretchings by sugar_screw (T, 22k)
The coffee is very good. Really. And the cats are so cute. That's why Harry goes so often.
Moldova's Magical Tea by @aibidil (E, 32k)
Neville Longbottom, Luna Lovegood, and—to everyone’s surprise—Draco Malfoy are opening a magical tea shop to revive wizarding tea culture and, hopefully, to bring the community together after the war. Harry, who is unemployed and trying to find his way in post-war society, wants to help his friends with their new business—but that means spending a lot of time around Malfoy.
Open For Repairs by @drarrytrash (M, 35k)
After the war, Draco works at a tv repair shop and Harry breaks things.
Follow the Water by @xanthippe74 (T, 38k)
Harry Potter’s life is fine. Maybe a little dull and predictable, but he shouldn’t complain about that, right? When he unexpectedly finds himself at Luna’s house one afternoon, Harry gets invited to join the secret wonderland that she’s creating with a surprising group of friends. Maybe a summer outdoors is just what a former hero needs to bring some zest back into his life.
Modern Love by @tackytigerfic (E, 61k)
Harry Potter, of all people, knows that life isn’t always fair. And no one gets to be happy all of the time. But surely there’s something more—something better—than a rubbish Ministry job, and a lonely old house, and that feeling that everyone out there is doing a better job of living than Harry is.
Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love by @aibidil (E, 80k)
In which a group of wizards' rights activists goes on the offensive after a prohibition against love potions, forcing the magical world to confront the horror of magic's role in sexual assault and the murky legal nature of consent. Ron, Hermione, Harry, and Draco are swept together to solve the case, and in the process they're made to confront their own love and lust—with and without potions.
At Your Service by Faith Wood (E, 95k)
Hogwarts students are in danger; Harry is determined to save them all. There's only one thing he knows for certain: Draco Malfoy is somehow involved.
All Life is Yours to Miss by Saras_Girl (M, 114k)
Professor Malfoy's world is contained, controlled, and as solitary as he can make it, but when an act of petty revenge goes horribly awry, he and his trusty six-legged friend are thrown into Hogwarts life at the deep end and must learn to live, love and let go.
My favorites - Redemption arc:
And Save Me From Bloody Men by @blamebrampton (T, 10k)
Draco Malfoy once watched others fighting to stop the world falling apart. This time, he's not just watching.
Slithering by astolat (E, 27k)
Draco found the nest down in the Manor’s cellars, while he was clearing them out.
Heal Thyself by astolat (T, 47k)
"Are you going for the course?" Lovegood asked. "You have the NEWTs.” “What course?” Draco said, then, “No, don’t be ridiculous,” when he realized she meant the notice pinned up on the board he’d been staring at: Applicants To The Introductory Mediwizard Course For The Coming Term Shall Present Themselves In The Chief Mediwizard’s Office By August 24th.
A Young Radical's Guide to Love by @blamebrampton (T, 66k)
Memories of the war are still fresh, which is all the excuse Decent People need to do appalling things. In this quietly waged conflict, Draco Malfoy is happy to be on the right side of things for once, and even happier to find he’s not alone.
A Thousand Beautiful Things by geoviki (M, 104k)
Draco Malfoy struggles with changed fortunes, shifted alliances, an ugly war, and an unusual spell, with the help of a concerned professor, an insightful house-elf, and an unexpected Gryffindor friend.
Changing Tides by carpemermaid (E, 109k)
Draco has spent half of his life spouting the things his father has taught him without much thought about how he feels about what he says. When he unexpectedly comes face to face with the Dark Lord, he grapples with the harsh realities of the world and struggles with his changing views on life.
Far From The Tree by aideomai (E, 112k)
The arrival of Harry Potter’s children—snapped back in time, the children themselves guessed, twenty or so years—was the most interesting thing to happen at Hogwarts for years.
By the Grace by lettered (T, 140k)
Harry is an Auror instructor. Malfoy wants to be an Auror.
Eclipse by Mijan (T, 287k)
Draco swore his revenge on Harry for Lucius's imprisonment, and Harry all but laughed at him. But Draco is planning more than schoolyard pranks this time. The old rivalry turns deadly when Draco abducts Harry for Voldemort. It's the perfect plan, guaranteeing revenge, power, and prestige, all in one blow. But when Draco's world turns upside down, the fight to save himself and Harry begins, and the battle will take them both through hell and back. If they come back.
Twist of Fate by Oakstone730 (T, 302k)
Draco asks Harry to help him beat the Imperius curse during 4th year. The lessons turn into more than either expected. A story of redemption and forgiveness.
