Buster Keaton in The Cameraman (Edward Sedgwick and Buster Keaton, 1928) Cast: Buster Keaton, Marceline Day, Harold Goodwin. Sidney Bracey, Harry Gribbon. Screenplay: Clyde Bruckman, Lew Lipton, Richard Schayer; titles by Joseph Farnham. Cinematography: Reggie Lanning, Elgin Lessley. Art direction: Fred Gabourie. Film editing: Hugh Wynn, Basil Wrangell. The Cameraman, Buster Keaton's first film under contract to MGM, isn't quite up to the standards set by The General (Keaton and Clyde Bruckman, 1926) or Steamboat Bill Jr. (Charles Reisner and Keaton, 1928), but then what is? Keaton plays a sidewalk photographer who is smitten with Sally (Marceline Day), a receptionist in the studios of MGM's newsreel department. To try to win her, he buys an antique movie camera and sets out to get a job with the studio. Of course he screws up his first attempt and is shown the door, but several adventures later he succeeds in getting not only the job but also the girl. Keaton would come to regret signing with MGM, a studio strongly producer-driven, and he fought with producer Lawrence Weingarten over the concept and script for The Cameraman, eventually getting his own way after persuading the studio's creative director, Irving G. Thalberg, to back him. But the relationship with the studio was fated to end, especially when sound arrived and Keaton came to be seen as a relic of a fading era, so this is the last of the great Keaton films. There are some masterly moments in The Cameraman, such as the scene in which he and a much larger man struggle to change into their swimsuits in a too-small changing cubicle, (The scene, incidentally, gives us a glimpse of a shirtless Keaton, revealing a strikingly toned athletic body, the product of years of doing his own stunts.) There are perhaps too many scenes that Keaton is forced to share with a very cute trained monkey, distracting us from his own work.

First radiant player valorant na
Tumblr media
Valorant’s ranking system has already been through plenty of changes. The feeling of getting stomped by one player on the enemy team who outclasses the other nine people in the server is a lot less common nowadays… discounting the occasional smurf.īut there is one thing about the changes in Act III, changes which still remain, that I’m not a fan of…. The struggle is even more real for people who usually solo queue.Īnd so, I think that particular change in Act III, the one which limited rank disparities in Competitive, was excellent. For the rest of us, we have to play an intense game where one mistake could mean instant death, and where we must rely on four other players. Hackers are some of the only people playing Competitive Valorant on easy mode… until they get banned, anyway. In the immortal words of Reggie Fils-Aimé, “If it’s not fun, why bother?” So, it’s of critical importance for the Competitive climb to be as non-disheartening and -frustrating as possible. Ranked is one way how we show our love for a game when we’re not spectating, a way to get personally invested and involved with our favorite games. Even if Competitive Valorant is just something you and some buddies do to relax after work, with little regard for winning or losing, there’s no doubt that sick plays get the adrenaline and dopamine pumping. We play the same mode of the same game, and (at least try to) use many of the tactics we see our favorite players pulling off. Watching is entertaining, but playing feels like the real deal.Īnd even if you weren’t just watching the pros show their stuff on YouTube or Twitch, the ranked climb is an extension of the esports scene. Whether you were just checking out a FlowAscending video on YouTube and want to try (and fail, if my experiences are anything to go by) whatever whacky wall boost shot he pulled off this time, or just caught the Grand Finals of a VCT event, I think more than a few of you can relate to the feeling of closing all of your browser tabs (have to maximize those frames per second!) and booting up the game after that video or stream ends. The Competitive / Ranked mode climb is there in part to capitalize on this vicarious urge gamers often get to play after watching. The longer I watch pros play a game – whether it’s Valorant, Overwatch, Smash, Street Fighter, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Melty Blood, chess, or even football, disc golf, soccer, you name it – the more I get the urge to play that game myself. Instead, I’ll transition to a common phenomenon I think most of us have experienced in some game or another. It’s hard to keep myself from blogging just about Sentinels, since they’ve taken up a huge portion of my Valorant consciousness recently. A shocking, but honestly inspiring, development. This leaves them just one chance left to qualify for the upcoming exclusive LAN event in Reykjavik, Iceland – the VCT Stage 2 Challengers 2. After TenZ returned to Valorant esports and took the Stage 1 NA Masters title with the Sentinels, they experienced a shocking upset at the hands of Built By Gamers in Stage 2 Challengers 1. That trailer points to a renewed emphasis on Competitive that’s perfectly warranted after so many sick tournaments around the world have taken place in recent memory. Competitive Online Play as an Extension of Esports

It's the last Republic Pictures horror film and the other half of the double feature with CATMAN OF PARIS: this week your hosts review VALLEY OF THE ZOMBIES (1946) directed by Philip Ford & starring Robert Livingston, Lorna Gray/Adrian Booth, & Ian Keith!
Will this poverty row horror help liven up the dying genre, or will it add to Republic's sinking ship?

Rich Oliver says: I have some old Blackout skits that were given to me by Mrs Reggie Lanning that were given to Reggie by Buster and Fatty Arbuckle, she said as a gift. I would love some feed back as there is no signatures to verify this. They are all typed on Onion skin paper with a very old (well new at that time) typewriter.  Thank you for any help or info.

[Iroh’s phone rings.
He doesn’t recognize the number but he answers anyway.
“Hello?”
For a few moments all Iroh can hear is shallow, raggedy breathing on the other end of the line. Then finally, he can hear a hoarse, familiar voice that he hasn’t heard in years.
“Uncle Iroh? I need your help. Can you...can you come pick me up?”]

Life in Eden by WitchofEndor
Her daughter is five years old when Ursa realises what she and Ozai have been doing to their children. By each choosing one to bestow with their approval, they’re pitting them against one another. Perhaps Ozai is doing it on purpose, but Ursa isn’t. She resolves to heal the damage she has done.
In which Ursa tries to be a better parent to Azula, and it doesn’t change very much. And then, quite abruptly, it changes everything.

Blonde Pigtails and a Strawberry Headband by bendycello
After the Hargreeves return from 1963, a few things happen. First, they're kicked out of their house by dear old Reggie. Second, they all move into a house downtown together. Third, Five gets enrolled in high school. Not by his own free will, of course. It goes downhill from there.
Or, the Hargreeves learn the hard way that life can be dangerous even without the apocalypse as a constant looming threat.

Wei Wuxian opens the letter and skims through, feeling his frown deepen with every line. “Oh. A request from Yiling. This man Tong Shen writes, 'I can’t explain what’s happening — you wouldn’t believe me if I tried. The hills are moving and they are hungry. Please send aid, Hanguang-jun, this humble one begs you.' Well, my curiosity is certainly piqued."
A few months after the events of Guanyin Temple, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji take on a night hunt of an unusual sort: The Burial Mounds are spreading, quickly and with no apparent explanation.
In Wei Wuxian, it brings old, long-buried things bubbling to the surface.
