Regulus checks his watch: 3:00 a.m.
James should be here in a few more minutes. Leaving Regulus some time to ponder the cold air freezing his hands and face. He wraps his cloak around his shoulders tighter. His suitcase lying on top of his shoes so he could feel the weight of it close and the pouch of money hidden in a pocket inside his winter cloak.
He was leaving. There was nothing in Grimmauld left for him. Only blurry memories and shouting. Regulus didn't want to stay between hating and loving his parents. Not when more harm came to him when he did love them. Any semblance of a normal relationship would kill him now.
Looking around the street, he thinks of how his runaway was much quieter than Sirius'. A true reflection of their differing personalities, not that it would matter now. They would be together again once this was over.
The long trail of thoughts was cut off by the freezing wind's harsh blow. Regulus quickly bent down to grab his suitcase as James came into sight. He was truly leaving, running away. It was almost like a fairytale, his lover whisking him away from a gloomy home.
"Ready?" James asks, pulling him into a hug.
"Yeah, let's go."
With one last kiss, they were off into the air.
'Like lovers running off in a fairytale.' Regulus thought with an amused smile.

“Go fish.” Remus scoffed at James. James sighed and grabbed a card from the deck.
“Got any 5’s?” Sirius asked Peter. Peter groaned and handed his 5s over.
Sirius grinned at him. He sat back in Remus’s lap, who had an arm protectively around him. “3s?” Remus asked Sirius.
“Go-“
There was a careful knock on the door. It was quiet, almost as if it were barely there. James looked at everyone. “I’ll get it I suppose.” He said, getting up from his spot on the floor.
He opened the door carefully. “Hello-“ He started, before swinging the door open. Sirius began growing worried as James sat there with his mouth agape.
“James who is?” Remus asked.
James, who was shaken out of his trance by a small, shy voice that he would have never expected from the type of person he was say; “It’s fine, I’m sorry, i’ll go.”
“Wait!” He called, grabbing his hand. “Regulus, come in.”
Sirius immediately got up and went to the door. “Reggie?” He said. He looked at the blood he was soaked in.
“James who is it?” Effie Potter called down from the stairs.
“It’s Regulus, mum!” James called.
Effie came running down the stairs, a hand covering her mouth when she saw him. “Oh you poor dear, let’s get you cleaned up.”
“You’re staying.” Sirius told Regulus.
“I will if they are alright with it.” Regulus retorted.
And James was so happy he didn’t even realize that Regulus’s gaze lingered on James for longer than normal.

I know Regulus and Sirius just were dropping crucial pieces of lore in front of their friends without even thinking, like:
“You know this reminds me of the time mom cursed me for not eating dinner haha…. those were much simpler times”
“I hate going outside late and by myself because it reminds me of the time I had to run away because my parents took things too far.. anyway, yeah I am free tomorrow.”

Prompt 2 - Doctor
@jegulus-microfic July 2, Word count 1000
Regulus had always dreamed about being a doctor. His parents had mostly approved. They would have preferred he’d chosen to be a solicitor or an accountant, but they decided that doctor was also a respectable profession as long as he went into the correct area. Such as plastics, where all the money was. They had a friend who ran the plastics department at St Thomas’s in London and they arranged for him to train under him once Regulus finished medical school.
But Regulus had other plans. He secretly sent out feelers to other hospitals and got offered a job in York. It was the one that he’d secretly hoped for. Sirius had moved up to York after he’d fled their family home. He’d gone to university there and fallen in love with the kindest man Regulus had ever met. Of course, his parents didn’t know that he knew any of this.
He’d had all his correspondence sent to Sirius’s house and he’d go out on daily walks to phone his brother on a separate phone Sirius had sent him and paid for so they could talk without their parents finding out.
Graduation day came. He was top of his class and a highly sought-after new doctor. He had his picture taken, said goodbye to his classmates and made a run for it. He left his parents complaining about the pitiful excuse for food that had been laid out for them and ran to Sirius’s waiting car.
“Hey, Reggie!” Sirius’s smile was full of love and Regulus couldn’t help himself. He flung himself across the gear stick and hugged his brother as tightly as he could. “I’ve missed you too,” Sirius spoke quietly into his ear.
They rushed back to his parent’s house and hurriedly carted the few boxes of his belongings down the three flights of stairs and out to Sirius’s car. Soon they were on the M1 and on their way north.
He hadn’t just left his parents with no idea where he’d gone. He’d told them he had found another job and was sorry he left like he did, but he had no interest in learning how to pull back wrinkly old skin, so people could kid themselves that they looked younger than they were. He thanked them for everything they’d done for him and hoped that they would still want him in their lives.
Remus was waiting for them at the front door. He flung his arms open and gave Regulus a firm, warm hug.
“I’m so glad you made it, Reggie,” He said as he ruffled Regulus’s hair. They’d become good friends over the years since he and Sirius had met, even before they’d started dating. Sirius would drunk dial him and Regulus would spend most of the night chatting with Remus while Sirius did keg stands and made a show of himself.
“Can we take you on a tour tomorrow? You can get to know the city before you start your first shift.” Sirius asked over dinner. Sirius had braved the locals to go to the chippy round the corner. It was excellent, the best fish and chips he’d ever had.
Regulus went to sleep that night, finally feeling free for the first time in his life. He took Sirius up on his offer to see the small city. They ate breakfast and hopped on a bus into the city centre. Sirius took him to see the giant cathedral towering over the other buildings. Then through the Shambles, an ancient medieval street. The narrow street was jam-packed with shops and shoppers. The top levels of the buildings overhanging the street below. They took a walk along the bar walls that wrapped around the entire city, protecting it from enemy armies. Sirius took him on a river cruise down the Ouse and then into the Dungeons to learn about Dick Turpin.
“Stand and deliver, your money or your life!” Sirius had yelled at him as he jabbed him in the back with a fake sword he’d gotten from the gift shop.
“Turpin would have used pistols, not a sword,” Regulus pointed out. Sirius shrugged and poked him again. They walked down by the river to get home. His feet hurt but it had been worth it. The city was beautiful and he’d spent more time with his brother than he had for years. Tomorrow he’d start at the hospital and he needed to be wide awake to be on his game.
Sirius dropped him off at the door, kissed his cheek and handed him a packed lunch.
“Look at our boy Remus, all grown up and off to be a doctor.” Sirius pretended to wipe a tear from his eyes.
“There, there dear. He’s a big boy now, we have to let him go,” Remus made his voice deep but struggled by the end, as he couldn’t help laughing.
“Yeah, yeah, love you too. C'ya later.” He blew them a kiss anyway and walked through the doors.
The resident in charge of them was the most handsome man Regulus had ever seen. He had to take a few deep breaths to calm his speeding heart. He felt suddenly very warm and could feel himself beginning to sweat.
“Dr Black?” Dr James Potter looked up from his list. “You wouldn’t happen to be related to Sirius Black would you?”
“Yes, he’s my brother, Dr Potter,” Regulus replied in as even a voice as he could.
“He’s one of my best friends, I’ll be sure to let him know how you’re getting on,” Dr Potter winked at him. Regulus felt lightheaded. Oh, great, now he not only fancied his mentor but the guy just happened to be Sirius’s friend. He should have known better than to move in with his brother. Well, he was going to prove he deserved to be here.
Dr Potter looked at him, his eyes glimmering with something.
“Well, this is going to be fun,” James grinned widely before they began the morning rounds.

Last wishes | jegulus & pandalily & wolfstar | mature | 1k words
Lily watched in slow motion as the curse hit James in the chest.
For one moment, one singular moment, they were invincible, her, James, Sirius and Remus. They were fighting Death eaters, feeling the adrenaline rushing through their veins powering them on. They were unyielding, and unflinching, they fought like they wanted their lives, because they did. Sirius was firing spells left and right, Remus had his back like he was born to do so. Lily was holding her own effortlessly. At least she was, that was until someone shot a spell at her that she couldn’t block, just having fired her own at another Death eater who she was fighting with.
“Lily!” James shouted, throwing his body in front of hers, preventing the spell from hitting her. It hit him instead. Lily’s eyes widened, the spark from the curse reflecting in them, as she watched James fall down.
It wasn’t Avada Kedavra.
No, The Death eaters weren’t that merciful.
But oh, Lily recognised that spell, it was the spell that ended one of her very first friendships. It was the spell that someone very dear to her came excitedly rushing to show her, only for her to say it was too dark of a spell and that he needed to forget about it. Lily was right, it was a horrid spell, one could say almost worse than Avada Kedavra, because it caused death, but not a merciful one, no. Regretfully, obvious now, that he hadn’t forgotten it. Instead, he used it now, to hurt her. It felt worse than a betrayal, somehow, it felt like ripping her heart to shreds. He said he wished her no harm, he said he wanted to protect her. Up until now, Lily has still saved a place in her heart for him.
Because even after everything, Lily loved, so purely, so fiercely, and she cared for him, she did. Not like he wanted her to, but in her own way. Her love was stong, a protector in it’s own right, always there to support her loved ones. Her love knew no bounds, she loved those scraped and those who scraped, those dressed and those naked, people’s minds of all colours.
She thought them beautiful.
Lily Evans did not hate, she did not have it in her heart to do so, she thought there was no one truly deserving of it. But she knew he would never hurt her, and she knew him smart, so she understood. Understood that the curse wasn’t meant for her, it was meant for James, it was always meant for James. Because he saw James near her, protecting her, and he knew that James would jump in front of her, protecting her until his dying breath.
It was in that moment, that Lily felt hatred for the first time.
And it wasn’t burning, like some people described it to be, it was cold, unforgivingly so. It froze and kept freezing, turning her blood to ice, her heart to stone.
Maybe that’s why she didn’t feel falling to her knees to be at James' side, her eyes not registering the cuts going all over his torso and the blood gushing from them. Maybe that’s why she didn’t even notice the Death eaters pulling away, pulling back. Maybe that’s also why she noticed SIrius screaming like his soul was just ripped from his body, Remus holding him tightly with his own tears in his eyes.
“R–”
Lily had never looked somewhere faster in her entire life. She looked down at James, who was desperately trying to say something, but couldn't because of the wound at his neck.
“Re–g–ss…”
Regulus.
And Lily understood.
Their forbidden romance, the one neither of them ever moved on from. Lily knew James didn’t love her, just the same way she didn’t love him that way. They were probably soulmates in another universe, but in this one, James looked for silver eyes and black curls everywhere, while Lily wished to every star that she would star in a certain someone’s crystals. They were meant to hold each other, but not like lovers.
And she wasn’t mad. How could she be mad at a dying man’s last wish? She could only hope she had someone of her own to hold her in her last dying breaths. And if she saw flashes of white hair and pale blue eyes, then nobody could blame her.
“Sirius,” she whispered, but even the nature seemed to hear her, with how silent everything was, as if the Sun had burned out in itself, “Call Regulus.”
And then Sirius understood too. And he wasn’t mad either. There was no time for that.
Wand still in hand, he summoned his Patronus, a beautiful full-grown wolf, but not before struggling to find a happy memory when it seemed like all light had gone out. Lily congratulated him, knowing she herself would never be able to cast a Patronus now. Sirius told the Patronous to get Regulus, and then walked closer to James' dying body, sitting down on the dirt and mud. Remus followed him.
They sat, tears in each of their eyes, and they waited.
.          .          .
Somewhere far away, the Patronus got lost, running desperately around a cave, trying to deliver the message. Somehow, even it knew it was of great moment that Regulus got there.
But Regulus it could not find.
.          .          .
Lily, could feel the moment James’ heart stopped. It was something deep inside her, that just.. disappeared. The lights had gone out, the music was cut off, and everything just stopped. And in his last moment, she did not pity James for dying, she pitied him for dying without his love, his soul. Maybe if Regulus was here, James’ heart could find a purpose to keep beating.
It was in that same moment when James’ heart stopped that the last gust of air left Regulus’ lungs, instead filling with water.
.          .          .
In the end, both James and Regulus got their happy ending, because they did not have to spend even a moment without one another. From their last moments on Earth, to their first moments in the sky, to the eternity that awaited them.
Show this fic some love on ao3!

Hi! Just slipping in for a second to say that in a Modern Au, Walburga is just like any Chinese mother in a sense that she wants her children to marry Chinese people and they just don't 😀
(totally not projecting)
Okay have a nice day! :))
sirius swans off with a tall awkward white kid who doesn’t know how to use chopsticks or what oyster sauce even is whilst regulus has a swarm of respectable chinese men and women after him but regards them all with utter disdain and disgust. walburga spends her final days ripping her hair out.

Platonic Moonwater Headcannon
Remus was the first friend Regulus made when he joined Hogwarts. Remus knew Sirius and Regulus weren’t on speaking terms ever since Sirius got sorted into Gryffindor and about the abuse the both of them experience at home so he takes the first chance he can get to befriend Regulus. The both of them get along really easily cause they both have a lot of common interests, majorly in books but Regulus only knows wizarding books so Remus starts introducing him to muggle books - literature and poetry. Regulus absolutely falls in love with them and they spend hours talking about them. They’d share notes on them.By now Sirius knows that the reason why Remus spends so much time in the library is cause he’s hanging out with his brother and he loves it cause now he knows his brother is in safe hands. Plus this gives him the chance to keep tabs on his brother through Remus.
Remus and Regulus start confiding in each other. In fact Regulus was the first one to know about Remus’s crush on Sirius. Remus finds out that Regulus loves playing the piano even though it was something his parents forced him to learn and that they actually have a Grand Piano back at Grimmauld Place but Regulus only knows Wizarding Piano Compositions cause that’s what his tutors taught him and you know what his family thinks about muggles….. so Remus then starts researching everything he can about Muggle composers- Beethoven and Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Bach , and he tells Regulus all about them. Once during the holidays Remus found a book called “ The Greatest Pianists ” at a bookstore so he buys it and brings it back with him to Hogwarts and lends Regulus the book, promising him that next time he’d look for a book with piano pieces ( or music sheets ) in them so that Regulus could maybe learn Muggle compositions.
But Regulus never got to return The Greatest Pianists because that was the year Sirius ran away and after that Regulus closed up completely. He stopped hanging out with Remus because of his anger at Sirius, even though he really missed his time with Remus. Remus knew Regulus was avoiding him but he didn’t push it cause he knew the younger Black brother was in pain.
So whenever Regulus was back at Grimmauld Place , he’d lock his bedroom door, take the book out of the little secret compartment he had on the floor under his bed and read it and cry cause he missed Remus. He missed being able to talk to him and spend his time with him. So he’d cry over all the people he pushed outta his life.
But then the letters started coming.
Letters written in a familiar handwriting.
Remus’s handwriting.
In the envelope were two pieces of paper.
One was a small piece of paper with the words “ I thought you’d find these interesting ” written in Remus’s handwriting.
And the other- A music sheet to Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata
Regulus immediately runs to the Grand Piano , rests the music sheet on the piano rack and starts playing the piece. By the time he’s done with it he’s in tears.
The letters don’t stop. Everyday during the holidays he wakes up to an owl dropping a different music sheet on his table and he’s rush to his piano and start playing them. By the end of the day he’d have learnt the piece by heart and could play it without looking at the music sheet.
His parents never found out about the letters cause Remus never signed his name on any of them.
More importantly, the letters were hidden in that secret compartment under his bed, folded neatly in between the pages of The Greatest Pianists.

Dec 7. Prompt: Beloved. Word count: 333 @jegulus-microfic
Monty opens their front door at 3:30AM with his wand ready to find Regulus soaked and shaking.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t… This is the first place I could think of to apparate.”
“Come in son, let’s get you out of the rain.”
As soon as Regulus steps into the house, he sees James barelling down the stairs where he was waiting, having his father’s back. He slams into Regulus, wrapping his arms around him. Reg buries his face in James’ chest, feeling James’ magic envelop him as he dries him and warms him up. His magic always made Regulus’ skin tingle.
“What happened baby?”
“He was there. They wanted to introduce us, convince me to take the mark. She called me her ‘beloved son’ James. ‘Beloved’. What does she know about love? I just knew it was now or never.”
James lifts Regulus’ face to his, his hand supporting Reg’s chin, and presses a brief kiss on his lips. “I’m so proud of you. You’re here now, and safe. We’ll keep you safe, right dad?”
Monty approaches them, putting his hand on Regulus’ shoulder and smiling softly at him. “Whatever it takes. They can’t touch you here. You two should head up to bed, get some rest. We’ll figure things out in the morning.”
As they head towards James’ room, Regulus stops and turns towards Sirius’ room. He opens the door gently, his smile turning mischievous, and jumps on top of his brother.
“What the fuck prongs?!??! Wait, Reggie? How are you…? What …?”
Sirius decides he doesn’t care and wraps his entire body around his little brother, smothering him.
“Are you here to stay? For good?”
“Yes Siri. Forever, I hope.”
Sirius nods, but doesn’t let go of his brother, and Regulus doesn’t make a move to get out of his embrace.
James soon realizes he’ll be sleeping alone tonight and closes the door gently behind him, smiling to himself, knowing his two favorite boys are safe together, and with him.
