6. I’m gonna redo this question – the most shocking announcement for me is Minami Maito’s transfer from Flower Troupe to Senka.
Tumblr media
“I am Minami Maito of Flower Troupe.”
This seemed like a sentence that would never change. Flower Troupe-born Minami Maito for the X number of years in her career, now and evermore.
Until today. Today, I was really shocked.
I’m going to write what I feel in a chronological way of how I processed this because the transfer of Maiti is going to bring climate change in terms of understanding Maiti’s career, history of nibante strategies, and Flower Troupe, in particularly Rei. (Disclaimer: I put “almost” and “unless” to make these hypotheticals.)
(1) Reimai combro divorce is real and I’m taking it in. Some may say “Come on, Maiti doesn’t need Rei to shine, they don’t have to be together and they can both shine their own ways”. No, I’m talking about Reimai in terms of their relationship. Like Grand Theatre performance “MAYERLING”/ “ENCHANTEMENT” will almost be the last time of Reimai on stage, and we don’t know when the next one is confirmed. (And it is definitely not “A Battlefield for Two” because she has a dinner show on April 20-27 and after the dinner show, she will become Senka, there’s no time for her to rehearse. That’s already the first moment that Reimai’s not going to be there.) Last GT performance of that means almost last NOS together, last WOWOW together and some others. Talk to me about a friendship for the last 14-16 years and suddenly this kind of parting will not be easy, at least that’s what I think.
(2) “MAYERLING” and “ENCHANTEMENT” is almost the last of Maiti wearing these nibante feathers. She has worn 2 (in Fashionable Empire and in this one coming up; The Fascination! which we remember dear by heart of this regret but that she is definitely nibante in that performance). Some discuss that “They can’t possibly rank Maiti lower than Nibante when she is already official”. So in justification, Senka Maiti means she won’t have that feather moment so close in the near future yet, unless they’re planning something great for her or there are other large movements in other troupes. Also I’ll really miss Maiti because with how strong the ensemble is for other troupes, we can’t see Maiti in the chirashis so quick yet in the near future after "MAYERLING”. (Note: Currently the nibante of Moon Troupe is Houzuki An, 92nd class; the nibante of Snow Troupe is Asami Jun, 95th class; we are UNSURE of Star Troupe but it is unofficially Seo Yuria, 95th class; the nibante of Cosmos Troupe is Serika Toa, 93rd class) Does this mean also fewer bromides for her?
(3) I also want to know if this is an Aichan (Aizuki Hikaru) card situation. Aichan was in Cosmos Troupe for 12 years before transferring to Senka and then to Star Troupe as nibante for the next 2 years, having an interesting 14 year Takarazuka Career. I hope Maiti does not become Senka for a hot moment only to T-word after a few performances but not in Flower Troupe. If she gets to be in Senka, being such a great Takarazuka lover since she was a child and having her only dream to be a Takarasienne, I hope she goes further and expands longer into her Takarazuka career. In hindsight, please be ever happy with Mayupon (Kizuki Yuuma) and Saori-san (Takashou Mizuki) in Senka, have the greatest fun. It’ll be interesting on an encouraging note to see Maiti in some performances here and there in different troupes. Does this also mean that her frequency in shows is not as expected yet…? Mayupon’s very prominent, multiple appearances in Moon and a few times in Flower and in Cosmos. (Also, putting forecasts in advance but I’ll find it a bit weird when Maiti t-words and her sayonara show is not in Flower Troupe, but we’ll see again)
(4) This means official nibante for Hitoko (Towaki Sea) and sanbante for Honoka (Seino Asuka) for the new arrangement, and subsequently the very obvious on what it implies for Rei. They say, when you are Top Star your clock is already counting down but I think Maiti’s transfer gave me the first shock. It really made me pause there and just look at my phone, unbelieving my eyes. When Rei chooses to announce it will be the second blow, but I think this has given me mental preparation for it all already. It also makes me wonder what kind of performances Flower Troupe will have in the future – as per (1), it will be a pity to see Maiti’s absence among the cast lists of Flower Troupe.
(5) This affects my subbing plans in 2023, that I need to translate Minami Maito’s “CAST” side-B, alongside finishing up with “Dance Olympia”.
“Melancolique Gigolo” also becomes a priority for me, because this was their first show that they were uncanonically Top Star and Nibante position.
I’ll have to be honest that I’m not the happiest with this announcement. It opens doors for future possibilities of Senka’s Minami Maito but also I’m so cautious of whether it is a good arrangement for her. Nevertheless, when the time comes I will have to accept the fact when I watch “MAYERLING” and “ENCHANTEMENT” in March in Hong Kong cinemas. This also makes me want to purchase her two nibante feather bromides as per (2).
(Note: Those two are the only Reimai bromides I have: HANAOTOKO in “Beautiful Garden” and “Love Burns in Firenze”. It will definitely encourage me to go on a splurge for more Reimai bromides.)

this is 100% a call out post i REFUSE to stand for any sort of unbased judgements/hate towards my top star.
Have you even watched the goddamned show? I have btw.
Firstly, Achilles has a fucking wife. That’s literally part of the Iliad and this is an extremely loose adaptation for it. Are you going to shame?? A zuka show?? For giving a figure who literally has a wife a wife??
Secondly, Achilles deadass gets so sad when Patroclus dies that he time warps into modern New York. It’s not Gay gay but its a PRETTY FUCKING IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIP TO HIM.
Thirdly, its obvious throughout the entire show that Rei is being paired off with both Hana and Maitii. Literally everyone’s been joking about how maitii is rei’s wife on the side. Their dances together have so much chemistry and there’s this trio dance thats just 💕💕 (I adore hana but dggd reimai... reimai...)
All in all, fuck you, reigumi doesn’t need your support anyways, fuck back to party city or wherever you belong.

The 72 hours bandh proposed from midnight of July 2 by Joint Action Committee (JAC) as the Government’s failure to give any positive responses to the demands included in the ultimatum served by 22 organizations in connection with the construction of Mapithel Dam/Thoubal Multipurpose Project has been called off after a detailed discussion with CM N. Biren Singh on Monday at CM’s secretariat, Imphal.
Earlier, convenor of the JAC, LM Thanmi submitted a joint memorandum to the Prime Minister, Governor and the Chief Minister in connection with the issue on February 28, however no response was received.
A release said that discussion was held in presence of minister of IFCD, Letpao Haokip, MLA of Phungyar assembly constituency, K. Leishiyo, MLA of Chingai assembly constituency, Khashim Vashum and members of the JAC, MDAVHCEO chairman, AS. Solomon, MDAVHCEO vice-president, Thanmi Reimai, JAC-AFCMD secretary and Letsei Mate. Yuzuka Rei: “When I get to encounter this significant performance…” Takarazuka Revue Flower Troupe National Tour
(Note: This was an article published by Sankei from 5 years ago when Rei led the national tour in 2018. Somehow it appeared on my X timeline from retweets and I have to translate this. It also includes Reimai, so that is self-explanatory why this interview is so valuable.)
Takarazuka Revue Flower Troupe otokoyaku star Yuzuka Rei leads the national tour “Melancolique Gigolo” (director: Masatsuka Haruhiko) Exciter!!2018” (director: Fujii Daisuke) which will be performed from November 22~December 16 in 11 locations in the whole nation. As her first leading national tour, Yuzuka comments with enthusiasm, “I hope to create a performance that you’d think it would be great to come and watch.”
■ “2 mischievous people grew up, to become 2 mischievous people on stage (LOL).”
A national tour performance representing the troupe and the revue, she strongly feels, “The importance of this task and the responsibility to shoulder on.” “For audiences who first come and watch Takarazuka, this may be an important performance affecting their first impression. I will do my best to make them feel this encounter is meaningful.”
More than anything, this is a memorable performance to her, and her favourite one. “When I heard about [the news of performing] the performance, the impact was great and at once, I got very excited thinking about it.”
“Melancolique Gigolo” was a national tour performance that she participated as the lowest underclassmen upon her 2nd year entering the Revue in 2010. Her classmate (douki) otokoyaku star Minami Maito was also part of that performance.
“We really cause trouble to people…But we were not discouraged, instead I could only remember those fun memories (LOL.) The two mischievous people behind the stage wings are again acting as 2 mischievous people on stage,” she laughs.
This is an original comedy that has been restaged many times since the premiere in 1993. In a stage set in the 1920s Europe, this is a story of the bright Daniel (Yuzuka) and Stan (Minami) dreaming of becoming rich overnight, one filled with laughter and pathos.
“I once again feel how much I love the male character image depicted by Masatsuka-sensei. I find it so sublime and fancy to feel the vibe and interactions unique to male friends.”
Her partner for these interactions is her douki Minami who plays as Stan, “The past actresses’ portrayals of Daniel and Stan have been so different, and I hope we would not be bound by that, so as to show the relationship close to what Minami and I share.”
So far, the Daniel we see are quite mature and cool, and Stan is contrasted to him as a free-spirited man. And the previous stars all have diverse careers. Now we have Yuzuka and Minami, the douki-combi who has entered the revue for 10 years.
“Sensei told us rather than acting up mature men deliberately, you could create the relationship shared by young men who seem more mature than they are. So I wanted to create something only we could deliver.”
The two characters aren’t always together, but their bond seems close. For herself and Minami, “Truly, sometimes we don’t say it out, but we feel the connection is there.” From underclassmen times, she described that “we’re two-people-in-a-set” and would always move along together.
“Our houses are close together, we’re together for class and even our lessons are together, so at times it feels like rivals (LOL). We don’t chitter-chatter a lot, but there is a strong connection. If we could show [that kind of chemistry] too, it would be great.”
Also, she has fond memories of the show “EXCITER!!”, filled with ultimate and cool scenes. When she first entered the Revue in 2009, she was assigned to Flower Troupe and that was the first show she performed in. Then, in the restage next year [2010], and the national tour last year [2017], she performed in all 3 of the shows.
“It was the first show I got to be in as an otokoyaku. So I have a lot of memories of it. No matter what year I am in or how many restages it has been, it will always be impactful.” It is a show full of fantastic choreography, direction, structure and lighting.
“I’m so happy that I could encounter this performance at first, and this famous show was unforgettable to me, that I was also thankful for the opportunity that I could be with Minami to perform in this.”
She said, usually with Minami they’re both shy, that they never exchange direct words of “Do your best” “Are you okay?” But this time when they both heard they’re doing the show, naturally both of them said “thank you” to each other.
“This is the show where we both got to be in together when we first became Flower Troupe members, and we were embracing our 10th year where we have never left and stayed in the same troupe, and we’re going to challenge this show again. So I told her, I was thankful, for this bond, for this opportunity.
Yuzuka was born in Tokyo, with 2 elder brothers and 2 younger brothers. She described herself as a child that would be playful and get hurt a lot, “I feel slighter responsibility because I’m the only girl among our 5 siblings.” She learnt piano and classic ballet.
The ballet teacher suggested her the way of attending Takarazuka Revue. When her mother got the admission letter for the Takarazuka Music School, she was drawn to the syllabus, and even without knowing much about Takarazuka, she decided to audition for it. “You could sing and dance tap dance from the morning [to night]. I wanted to do Japanese dance too. So for my future career, I entered the Music School.”
The audition venue “felt far from what I expect, so the unfamiliarity makes it feels like a social studies field trip. So I was calm.” As an applicant, she was surprised by the slick regent hair and firm hair buns of other applicants.
She was long-haired then. She already tied her hair, but a second-year Music School student helped her tie it into a hair bun. “I was going to make a more beautiful hair bun on my second try, but they helped me fix it instead,” she smiled bitterly. She succeeded the audition in one go.
Then came the time to decide for otokoyaku or musumeyaku. On the day of selection, “Since I was at the height when I could choose either, I became desparate when they started calling in order. The person beside me said otokoyaku, so I also said otokoyaku. It happened like that,” she laughed.
That Yuzuka reached her milestone of becoming an otokoyaku for 10 years entering the Revue. As someone who is closest to support Top Asumi Rio, she also did a role swap with Asumi in [the] Hakataza [performance] this year. She recalled “that was a tough mission”.
“This year was a fulfilling year, drastically different from the past 9 years. I had more time to face myself, and I could truly felt the change.” Therefore in the next year, “I want to open up to myself once more”. “Now, the good and bad things I felt so condensed. I hope in this favourite performance of mine, that I could open up a little more this time,” she spoke as her eyes sparked with light.
