GOD WHAT A FUCKING SEQUENCE!!! CHEF'S KISS MWAH MWAH MWAH#and then just the lovely little moments of fanservice. obvious stuff like kaz wavedashing or he & jin doing the namco logo thing 1 last tim#but then obscure stuff like jins t3 df1 glitch & kazuyas weirdo t4 re-stun combos?? like how many ppl are even gonna know about that shit??#they hella did not have to do that but they did & it makes me so so so happy#so yea the t8 story is like 80% a fun entertaining little romp & 20% the hypest shit i've ever ever ever seen#and also reina is the best new character namco have made for tekken since steve in t4#it's funny cause in the whole leadup to t8 i was having a little trouble figuring out who i was gonna main#cause in t7 i spent most of my time bouncing around basically the whole cast before finally settling on julia near the end#obv no julia in t8 so i had to pick someone else & no one in t8 was really jumping out at me#lots of super cool characters that i'd already played quite a lot of but not really anyone that's like ok yea that's my fucking guy#lots of sick af potential secondaries but no main basically#then they released the reina trailer & i was like ok yea that's my fucking guy#sick design sick stage sick AS FUCK music & a bunch of mishima staples to go along with it???#she's got an electric? hellsweep? wavedash? flash punch combo? stonehead?#plus some heihachi specific staples? demon breath? heaven's gate? iron hand? fucking HUNTING HAWK??? then yea that's MY FUCKING GUY#so yea reina fucking rules & i just wanna play her against real ppl please for the love of fuck#OH ONE MORE THING THEY DID ANOTHER GREAT JOB WITH THE MUSIC. Kagenogure's truth 1?
I know I haven’t been posting as much as I should, and I know that I did not write or draw anything for Shino’s birthday. I do have an unfinished comic for his birthday but I am definitely ashamed to show it since not only is it unfinished, but it looks awful. Anyway… Here I wanted to share some scenes and headcannons about Kagenogure. mostly because I need to vent a little bit out of what I am looking forward in my village and I do think it would be good to actually get a hold of what the village is about and what is happening in that horrible village.
So here is a little scene in which Reina is trying ot get hold of her "new power" as a seed of the village. Of course, she doesn't fully understand what is she seen not that she has a new power. But, basically, seeds can connect with Chakra footprints, that are left in the village by their ancestors.
----
It was quite scary for a child of mere 8 years to face those specters. She felt her blood freezing at their eerie sight. She gulped her saliva and looked at them puzzled. “Why can I see you?” muttered, scared. The tall figure turned her back, her luscious and clean mane dancing with her, her eyes covered with violet silk and a lovely dress that let her bulky body shine. She was fair, tall and definitely out of this world. She let a big smile shine “I never imagined that you would come up with such a pretty, little one!” Reina stepped back and held her ragdoll, a mere communion of old clothes and two bottoms to make it look almost like a doll. She covered her face with it “I am not supposed to see…” The gentle figure bent over to have a better look at her, she felt coldness when she removed some of her hair to see her face “What are you doing here? These are the Aburame grounds only Aburames and our lord can enter?” she laughed and hugged her knees to see her better “ I do not think he would discover me” she laughed once more and twisted her head. Reina curiously touched her hair as an innocent childish act “It is soft” muttered “Is it?” said the lady “I try to keep it neat and clean” Reina touched her own, her father tried to comb it as good as he could, but without a proper comb it was hard. Having a shower was something that she was limited to three times per week and her hair only once per week. It wasn’t soft nor clean. She stepped back even more.
Her insect started to buzz feebly, almost warming her to step away. “What’s your name?” said the child “My name …? “ She smiled.” “Why can I see you?” Reina couldn’t see anymore, well, at least not properly, for her people have become weird black figures that danced around her, ever since the Uchiha seal was imposed upon her. Everything became foggy and made her dizzy, with the Hyuga seal. But her image was clear as water, clearer even than before she had the seals. The figure just laughed even harder. “Wait until I tell this to the rest” Reina got scared “Who are the rest? What are you doing? We have had enough problems!” she barked with angst. The figure laughed and disappeared among the foggy trees ``Wait!” Reina cried “I do not want to cause more problems…please…enough…” The little ladybug sat on the floor, she touched her aching ankles where the Nara sigil marked her. At least Shiori’s father, Sakumo, allowed her to wander around the Aburame’s ground. She wept and decided to lay there hugging her ragdoll. “I don’t want to cause more problems… Please… Papi has had enough… Please… Take me with you”

Alexia Putellas x Child!Reader
Jenni Hermoso x Child!Reader
Summary: Alexia tries to get her act together
Tumblr media
For as long as she will ever live, Alexia will never forget her mother's face that day at Alba's door.
She will never forget the genuine horror on her mother's face even as she took control of the situation. She will never forget that night when Alba slammed her against the wall after the final of the Copa de la Reina. She will never forget the way you hid behind Jenni's legs after your ballet lesson.
It's all she thinks about even as she sits in the rocking chair with a sleeping Jaume in her arms.
"Ale?" Olga says sleepily," It's three in the morning. Come back to bed."
Alexia doesn't want to. She doesn't want to let Jaume go but she doesn't want to look at him either.
He was so perfect. His birth had been quick and easy unlike yours. Alexia had felt an instant connection to him, unlike when she suffered a bought of post-partum depression with you. He was so soft and so perfect and yet...
Alexia couldn't believe that she has pushed you away in favour of him.
She had a beautiful son and daughter. Two children, not one.
She thought having a sibling would be the best thing for you. She wanted to build a family with Olga. She never considered that she hadn't actually included you in that family.
"Alexia," Olga says, a bit more awake now," Come on. He's due for a feed soon. I'd like some sleep before that."
Mechanically, Alexia places her son back in his crib, wiping away some of the drool on his face as she allows Olga to lead her back to bed.
A sense of numbness follows her now and it's clear to everyone.
Word has spread amongst the team now about what has happened. They know the bare minimum, only that Alba took Bambi and that Jenni has dropped everything to fly across the world for you.
No one knows why, officially. It's clear that Mapi and Ingrid have informed a few team members. Paredes, in particular, cannot look Alexia in the eye anymore and some of the younger players are wary seeing that.
Her life is falling apart. She had no idea you were the linchpin holding it all together.
Olga lays next to her, head pillowed on Alexia's chest.
"You're so tense," She says," Relax. Everything's going to be fine."
Alexia scoffs. "Is it?"
Her question hangs in the air for several minutes. Neither of them speak. Neither of them move.
"Yes," Olga says eventually," You need to stay positive, Alexia. If not for yourself then for your daughter-"
"Your daughter?" Alexia echoes Olga's words perfectly," My daughter? Is she not ours?"
The silence is telling and Olga rolls over and away.
"Is she? Jaume is ours. y/n is yours."
Alexia sits up in bed, reaching over to flick a lamp on. This wasn't a conversation she could have in the dark.
"We have a son together. We're going to get married. In what world is Bambi just mine?!"
"In every world!" Olga sits up too. "She has always been yours, Alexia! I am just the woman her Mami is marrying! Nothing more, nothing less!"
"How can you say that?! We're making a family together! Bambi is included in that family!"
"Of course she is but when have I ever taken that role in her life?! You took her to football! You take her to ballet!"
"She stays home with you all day!" Alexia bites back, standing now until they're both yelling at each other over the bed. "You make her lunch! You keep her occupied!"
"And you do her baths and her bedtime routine! You do her morning routine too! God, Alexia, I am essentially her glorified babysitter! You have never once let me take over those things!"
"You didn't ask?! Olga, if you wanted to do that stuff just ask me!"
"And be rejected? No! You've never given any indication that I was even allowed to try!"
"Because I thought you didn't want to! Bambi has always been mine! Forgive me for not knowing how much to put on your plate. I was trying to make this transition easy!"
"An easy transition?! Alexia, I was pregnant! I was already thrown in the deep end! Adding a self-sufficient kid wouldn't have been much worse!"
They're both screaming at each other now and Jaume clearly hears the noise because he cries from down the hall.
Alexia takes a deep breath, eyes shutting briefly as she counts to ten to calm herself.
Olga goes to get Jaume, moving out the door.
"If we're going to get Bambi back," Alexia calls after her," Then we have to both want her!"
The forms about your ballet class lay on the kitchen table when Alexia gets up the next day. Things were frosty last night when Olga came back to bed with Jaume but they seemed to be looking up when Olga said that they would have a mature conversation about the Bambi situation when Alexia got home.
Alexia picks it up as she eats her breakfast, skimming through it. It's for an extra class on Thursday nights (five until seven) on top of your usual ones. Apparently, it's for those little kids that have real potential. As in, the potential to be great.
Alexia had been one of those kids but for football instead of ballet. She had excelled. She was one of the greatest in the world now all because her father saw the potential in her and signed her up for a team.
She had tried to do the same with you. She took you to the under-fives Barcelona team but it hadn't turned out how she want it to. The other children had left you in the dust. Alexia had hoped that it would be a one time thing, that the first session was a fluke.
You were already so different to her and even back then, she knew that when Jaume arrived things would be different.
She'd tried to get you into football so you would have something to bond over together, at least until Jaume was big enough to play with you.
But it wasn't meant to be and her Mama had insisted in signing you up for something else.
Originally, Alexia had planned on it being another team sport, desperate to have something at least similar to football that she could cling to.
Instead, her Mama had reminded her of last Christmas when the family went to go see the Nutcracker and how enamoured you had been.
Ale's Mama had pushed and pushed for ballet and Alexia was glad that she had.
The forms sat signed on the kitchen table as Alexia washed up her bowl and dialled a number on her phone.
"Hola, Mama," She says," It's about Bambi..."
It's after training that Alexia goes to see her Mama and sister. They meet up at Eli's house and all crowd around the kitchen table.
Jenni is there too and when Alexia asks who is looking after you, she's told that Mapi and Ingrid have taken you for ice cream.
"I don't like this," Alba mutters from where she's leaning against the wall. She's the only one not sat, arms crossed over her chest. "How do we know that she's not going to take Bambi home and neglect her again, huh?"
It's the hardest words Alexia has ever had to say but she pushes them out of her mouth. "I don't want you to give me Bambi back, not now at least."
"What do you mean, Alexia?" Her Mama asks.
"I...I have a lot of making up to do," Alexia admits," I broke her trust and that is not an easy thing to get back. If I want Bambi to come home then she has to want it to. I don't want her to be unhappy again."
"What are you saying?"
"Let me visit her, please. Let me earn back her trust, please."
Everyone knows Eli is in charge here. She is the head of the family and everyone defers to her on big decisions like this. This is a family matter. This is about her granddaughter's happiness and her daughter's peace of mind.
"Bambi is very fragile right now," Eli says quietly but the house is so silent everyone can hear her clearly," This is a serious matter, Alexia and if it was anyone else's daughter, child services will have already been called."
Alexia looks down at the table, the same table she would be scolded at when she was young.
"Your father would be ashamed of you." Eli's words are hard and biting and it's exactly what Alexia wants, even if it causes a sharp pain in her chest. "This is not how we raised you. That little girl is so beloved by everyone and what you have done...I love you, Ale, but it is unacceptable."
"I know, Mama. Please, let me make this right."
"Bambi coming home is her choice. It is not a when...it is an if. If I decide that you are doing more harm than good then there will be other actions we can take."
She looks at Jenni, who up until this point has been silent and Alexia's eyes dart to her too.
"Mama, what are you talking about?"
"Eli," Jenni says," She is trying. We don't need to-"
"Jenni still has adoption papers," Alba says from her corner of the room," All they're missing is your signature. Mama is saying that if this cannot be resolved and Bambi doesn't want to come home..."
She lets the idea hang in the air. She doesn't need to say it out loud. They all know what she means.
"It won't get that far," Jenni says, looking at Alexia for the first time since all of this became real," Bambi loves you."
Alexia pushes through the lump in her throat and the tears pricking in her eyes. "If I cannot make this better then she will have the best chance with you."
Jenni looks away first. "She has ballet on Saturday until one. We can do a visit then."
"Thank you."
Olga is sitting with Jaume when Alexia gets home. It's an almost perfect image. All it's missing is you at Olga's feet, playing with your trains.
She can imagine it, your trainsets spread all over the floor and your ballet bag left abandoned on a chair. You will smile when you see her and Alexia will litter your face with kisses before doing the same to Olga and Jaume.
It will be perfect, Alexia promises herself.
"Hey, little man," She coos to her son, hefting him up into her arms and pressing a kiss to his forehead.
Jaume giggles at the affection, lips smacking together as his hand whips out to grab at Alexia's nose curiously. He's been a little fussy recently and extremely sensitive to changes in light but he seems a little happier now.
"That's my nose," Alexia says. She wiggles it. "Is it really funny? Huh? Is my nose funny?"
"Jaume seems to think so." Olga rises from the sofa and pecks Alexia's lips. "How was your mother?"
"Helpful."
"And Alba?"
"She was...Alba."
"And Jenni?"
"How did you-?"
"I am not blind or deaf, Ale. Your team gossips. Jenni has comes back to Spain for y/n."
"Amor-"
"I'm not threatened," Olga laughs," You broke up for a reason but even I know that a meeting of y/n would involve her. How was it? What did they say?"
Alexia manages a smile. "I can see her on Saturday, after ballet. There's a place where you can paint pottery nearby. I think I'll take her there."
"That's nice," Olga says.
"I..." Alexia's been floating in a happy bubble ever since she started to drive home. She doesn't want to ruin it but she has to know. "Did you have a think about what we talked about?"
Olga sighs. "I love Jaume," She says after several beats of quiet," Because he is mine, yes, but mostly because he is yours as well. And I love you so much."
Alexia doesn't like where this is going. "And Bambi?"
"I'm sorry, Ale, but I do not love y/n but...I think I could learn to because she is so much like you and I love you. I do not know y/n like I know you and Jaume. I want to though. I want her home with us so I can love her like I love Jaume. I am sorry if it is not what you want to hear but it is my truth and I hope that is enough."
Tears fall down Alexia's cheeks.
"It's enough. It's enough, amor."
Alexia spends all week waiting for Saturday. There are matches to prepare for and media commitments to do but you're all she can think about.
She wonders if she should bring you a new train to mark the occasion but the model train store has finally shut down and Alexia cannot get one for you in time.
Next time though, she promises herself that she'll got you a new train for your collection. Her palms are sweaty and she's nervous when she spots you and Jenni walking down the street hand-in-hand.
You're still in your ballet clothes but you've got one of Jennie's jackets on and it's dragging on the ground behind you because it's too big. Your hair is still done up in a bun and a few wisps fall down to frame your face.
"Bambi," Alexia says, suddenly breathless when you look up at her.
"Hola, Mami," You reply, ducking a little bit behind Jenni as you greet her.
"Your Mami and you are going to paint some pottery," Jenni says," And I'll be right here to pick you up when you're done."
"You won't be late?"
"Of course I won't be! You're my most favourite little girl in the whole wide world! I'd never be late to pick you up!"
You smile and giggle when Jenni peppers kisses all over your face before gently moving you towards Alexia.
"Hola, Mami," You say again.
Alexia smiles and takes your hand. "Hola, Bambi."
You look very nervous and your hand is unusually warm in Alexia's, though she puts that down to you coming straight from ballet.
There's a big wall where you can choose what to make. Alexia gets a mug and, unsurprisingly, you want the train. It's at the very top of the shelf and you can't reach and you don't want Mami to get upset at you for asking when you could easily get something that's closer to your height.
But Alexia notices.
She's making sure to pay a lot of attention to you now. To the way that your ballet pumps are wearing a bit at the soles and the way you play with the sleeves of Jenni's jacket.
"Do you want the train, Bambi?" She asks," Do you want me to pick you up so you can grab it? Can I touch you?"
You nervously nod and Alexia pretends to not notice the way that you don't breath until you're safely back on the ground.
The little shop is quaint and fairly quiet and Alexia lets you choose the table at the very back.
Very gently, she telegraphs her every move to you as she rolls up the sleeves of Jenni's jacket so you don't get paint on it.
You're both quiet as you paint.
Your little tongue is stuck out in concentration as you dip your paintbrush into the paint and move it to cover your train.
"You moved up in ballet," Alexia says eventually," How was that?"
"Was good," Is the response from your tiny voice," It is harder now but still fun." You blink a few times as the overhead light buzzes and you scratch at you neck. It's been a little itchy since you last saw Mami and you don't like.
You haven't told anyone because you're scared they're going to get angry at you. You're a big girl now. Big girl don't complain about something as silly as itchy skin.
"I'm very proud of you," Alexia says," And I'm glad that you're enjoying ballet so much."
Your watery little smile back makes Alexia nearly cry herself. "Really, Mami?"
"Of course. I am so proud of my Bambi. You make me proud everyday."
"Are you sure, Mami?"
"Yes. I am very proud of you."
You sniffle a little and duck your head back down to continue painting. It hurts to move your head though. It's all stiff and tight so you have to hold it at an odd angle so you don't cry - though you're not sure if it's because of the pain or the fact that Mami is acting like this is the Before.
The Mami from the Before never got angry when you asked silly questions. The Mama from the Now got angry at you once when you asked a silly questions when Jaume was crying.
You hope that this Mami won't be mad because you ask a silly question.
"Mami," You ask softly, the memory plaguing you ever since your Jenni returned to you," Jenni says she wanted me when I was little. Did you want me?"
Whatever bubble Alexia was in before pops and it's like icy cold water has been dumped on her.
"What do you mean, Bambi?"
"You and Miss Olga wanted Jaume," You say," And my Jenni says she wanted me. Did you want me too?"
"Bambi..." Alexia doesn't want to think about those first few months of having you. The post-partum depression had hit hard and Alexia could do little but deal with yours and hers basic needs.
She had loved you and resented you all at the same time and the guilt had weighed on her for months.
"I always want you."
You shake your head before wincing and returning your head back to its awkward resting position. "But did you want me then? When I was little like Baby Jaume and when I was in your belly?"
Alexia moves from her chair to kneel in front of you. Her hand comes up to cradle you. Either her hands are big or your face is tiny because they cover your entire cheek.
"I love you," Alexia says," You're my Bambi and I've always loved you."
"But did you want me?"
"Bambi..."
"Mami...Mami, I..."
Alexia doesn't want to lie but she also doesn't want to tell you either. There were moments, that first week she found out she was pregnant when she didn't want you. She hadn't been overjoyed at the prospective of you. She hadn't wanted her career to be derailed by something as silly as a child.
She doesn't want to tell you the truth because she knows that it will be damaging to you. You're not old enough to be told things like this. You're not mature enough to be told this kind of information and not have it linger and fester within you for years.
But Alexia's always valued honesty. She doesn't like lying but she had lied to you all your life. She doesn't want to lie again now even if it's about something like this. Adults cannot fault other adults for telling their truth but you are neither an adult nor can you understand what this means for you.
"I want you now," Alexia says instead," I want you when I go to bed every night. I want you when I wake up every morning. I want you when I score a goal and when I win trophies. I want you, Bambi."
You sniffle and scratch more insistently at your skin, your wrists this time.
"I miss you sometimes, Mami," You say," But coming back to your house is scary."
"Thank you for being honest, Bambi. You don't have to come home if you don't want to." Alexia forces down tears. "When I next see you, we should go and see Abuela and we'll explain things to you, okay?"
"Okay, Mami."
"Is your train done?"
Your train actually is done so Mami gives it and her mug to the lady who works there to finish off and you both walk outside.
"They should be done in a few days," Mami tells you," And then when I next see you, I'll give you your new train."
"Okay, Mami." Her hand is in yours and you think that is enough for today, pulling your hand away as Jenni turns the corner and lets you run to her.
"Hey," She laughs, swinging you up into her arms," How did it go? Was it fun?"
You don't answer, burying your face into Jenni's neck.
"I..." Alexia says," I think next time when should go to my Mama's...Conversations are...difficult sometimes."
Jenni nods. "I see," She says," Next week, maybe?"
The words are complete autopilot. Alexia hates what she's said the moment they're out of her mouth but they're completely out of habit and she doesn't even think before she speaks.
"We'll see," She says," I'll have to check my schedule." She clamps her mouth shut the moment she says them. "I mean- No, I meant-"
You look resigned, like you are so used to this that it barely effects you but Jenni looks furious. She hefts you up higher in her arms.
"Say goodbye to your Mami, Bambi."
"Bye, Mami."
"Hey...Wait, no, Jenni. I didn't mean-"
"Bambi needs to have a nap," Jenni says," She takes one right after ballet. We changed her schedule for painting today. I should get her home."
Alexia wilts, slouching her shoulders and curling in on herself. "Adios, Bambi. I love you!"
Jenni is already walking around and you don't offer your own I love you in return.
Jenni's steady steps feel nice as she walks you back to Tia Alba's. Your itchiness increases and you scratch more harshly at your neck.
"Ma-Jenni?"
"Yes, Bambi?"
"Can we have cuddles tonight?"
"Of course we can. I love cuddles with my favourite little girl. Are we having them on the sofa after bathtime or in bed together?"
Before Ma-Jenni came home, you slept with your Tia Alba. Now you sleep in the same bed as Ma-Jenni. She's big and strong and she holds you just right. She doesn't let you go the whole night. You go to sleep in her arms and you wake up in her arms.
"Bed cuddles please."
"I love bed cuddles."
You grin. "I love bed cuddles too!"
You scratch at your neck again and Jenni gently pulls your hand away. She frowns, swiping at your skin with her thumb a few times.
"You've got a bit of a rash there, Bambi," She says," We'll have to keep an eye on that."

Hi lovely I love ur stuff 🩷 I have a little request/idea - obviously feel free to ignore it
I was thinking R has a really thick accent (English - either Scouse (Liverpool), Geordie (Newcastle) or West Country (Devon/Somerset/Farmer) or Aussie or something really thick like hard to understand from native speakers let alone anyone else) but R plays in Barca and has a crush on a Spanish player (Maybe Patri? maybe Ona? Maybe Alexia?) and is tryna talk to them more and maybe ask them out but they just get looked at funny and they walk off and she goes to Kiera and Lucy and is like what have I done? Do they all hate me? And [Crush] overheads them and goes round to their house after training and is like I really wanna get to know u, I think you’re really pretty etc but I cannot understand a word that comes out of ur mouth to the point where I am questioning whether it’s English

you never thought your accent would get you into trouble but you were entirely wrong. and we’re not talking about trouble like criminal, we’re talking romantically.
you’re from liverpool, your thick, scouse accent distinct in your dialect. at home in england, the accent was understood most of the time, with an occasional person asking for clarification about your words but you didn’t mind.
even some of your england teammates had to ask you to repeat yourself occasionally when you got overly excited or stressed, your accent proving to be the hardest to understand at those moments.
you often needed a translator for even native english speakers if you spoke too quickly, lucy and later grace helping out when people were truly confused.
when lucy and keira moved from manchester city, you moved with them, having played in the club for 2 years and desperately wanting a change. and so, when the contract arrived from barcelona for the three of you, you accepted it without a second thought.
you had supported barcelona in liga F, having a huge appreciation for the way the spanish players moved, the quick passes and the goals that came out of nowhere. you were excited to pick up those skills to adapt to your own play.
and through your extensive research, you grew a special appreciation for alexia. in your eyes, alexia was the definition of perfect, not only her football skills, but her as a whole.
you would watch her interviews and videos for ‘research purposes’, claiming it was to practise your spanish. and it was, until you zoned out hearing the gentle hum of alexia’s voice, getting distracted entirely but you weren’t complaining.
when you got caught making heart eyes at your phone during england camp, the teasing was so relentless it wasn’t even funny.
“our little (y/n) has a crush on la reina! (the queen)” lucy exclaims in the change room, you immediately turn off your phone and look up at her with an icy glare, only making her smile at you affectionately with a pinch to your cheek that you were quick to swat away.
“you’re not much older than me” you glare, “5 years is 5 years” she shrugs, moving away when you launched an empty bottle at her.
“go on, tell us about your crush” leah smiles, millie and rachel pretend to kiss each other while looking at you and you heat up in the cheeks.
“i’m only watching so i can pick up spanish” you defend, lucy laughs loudly, out of the three transfers, she was definitely the one who picked up the most spanish.
“excuse me, lucia, and everyone in here,” you scoff, “is it such a crime to watch a video of my future captain?” your accent was so heavy at this point, everyone cracked a little smile at you.
“so you were watching videos of alexia then?” leah smirks, you let out a frustrated groan, “leah, shut up man” everyone laughs, the teasing continuing until keira and alessia told everyone to stop.
during the whole of camp, it wasn’t uncommon you got caught looking at photos or videos of alexia, the teasing was so bad you thought you would explode.
when the time finally came for you to join barcelona, you were incredibly nervous. the fear of underperforming playing on your mind, only becoming worse at the thought of embarrassing yourself in front of a certain blonde you couldn’t take your mind off.
lucy and keira assured you everything would be fine, but you weren’t convinced, unsure of how you’d react when you finally saw alexia.
when you all walked to the change rooms, it was shocking how welcoming everyone was. hugs and kisses to the cheeks had you feeling so accepted amongst your new team.
and funnily enough, the last person to greet you was alexia, sending you a charming smile that had your stomach erupting with butterflies.
“(y/n), yes? bienvenida! (welcome)” alexia grins, her arms pulling you into a warm hug, her scent enveloping you and making you borderline dizzy.
“(y/n) is a big fan of you” lucy teases as alexia lets you slip from the hug after you mumble a quick hello. alexia gives a surprised smile, looking between a cheeky looking lucy and a sheepish looking you.
“you’re very good, too, I look forward to playing with you,” alexia’s hand moved to give your bicep a gentle squeeze and you swore your heart stopped, your cheeks were tinged with pink and you could barely formulate a sentence.
“yeah, i’m excited to play with ya” you breathe out, you move to your new cubby and get changed into the barcelona kit, feeling at home already even though it was your first day.
due to you busying yourself with avoiding alexia, you missed the way her gaze lingered on you as you changed, she was intrigued by you.
what you didn’t know was alexia had done her own forms of research. she had heard your name countless times in the media, a rising star in the making.
she respected the way you played, a midfielder who wasn’t afraid to take risks but also managed to avoid fouls frequently.
she wanted to get to know you as much as you wanted to get to know her.
weeks and months fly by and it was easy to say you felt comfortable amongst the team. your spanish was surprisingly getting better, being able to go through training without a translator most of the time.
the girls reciprocated you well, you’d go to team bonding nights and laugh and joke around with them. it was obvious to everyone except alexia that you were harbouring a crush on the captain.
the ways your eyes would follow her every move with pink cheeks honestly exposed yourself. and what made it harder was that alexia and you were growing closer each day.
one day you were chatting with mapi and ingrid, more like you getting teased while you begged them to stop before you were interrupted by a certain someone.
“do you want to be my partner?” alexia questions from behind you suddenly, making you choke on your own spit as she looked at you with a kind smile. “really?” you breathe out, she nods, nodding her head to the pitch for you to follow her.
you’d both been able to converse easily as the months went by, she’d have to ask you to slow down a couple of times when you both talked about something you had in common but it worked.
as you both trained together, you chatted and laughed, talking about random topics.
when you both got to shooting practice, alexia analysed your every move. she would give little nods of approval when you touched the ball, sending you an encouraging smile if you made eye contact, your heart was fluttering around her.
“you should put more weight into your hips when you kick” alexia corrects, you look at her questioningly, she huffs out a little laugh and comes to stand behind you.
her large hands place themselves on your hips and she turns them slightly to the front. her front was pressed against your back and you certainly weren’t breathing. she noticed you tense but chose to ignore it.
“focus here before you kick so it’s stronger” alexia says next to your ear, squeezing your hips gently before letting go of you. “try again, vamos! (let’s go)” she exclaims, you do as she says with her corrections and it was a much better result.
she smiles proudly, “buena niña! (good girl)” she laughs, coming up to you to squeeze your shoulders encouragingly, your cheeks were burning.
the entire team watched the interaction with big grins, ready to tease you for how sheepish you looked.
“gracias (thank you), ale” you scratch the back of your neck with an embarrassed smile, she shakes her head, “it’s nothing, thank me with a goal next game” she jokes, pinching your cheek teasingly before walking off to get some water.
you’re left there in shock, lucy and keira approaching with cheesy grins. “you’re in love” lucy coos, poking your shoulder teasingly while you shielded yourself in a hug from keira.
“i’m so fucking stupid, why can’t i be normal” you groan, keira laughs, her hand rubbing up and down your back. “you’re just shy, which is weird to see because you’re the complete opposite” she laughs, you pull back to throw her a glare.
“it’s cute” lucy chuckles, “i can’t wait to tell everyone about the development” she grins, her and keira share a hearty laugh seeing your face go pale, while you attempted not to scream.
“don’t you fucking dare” you grit out, “i won’t” lucy winks, unfortunately she did and by the time training was over, your phone was blowing up with text messages talking about the interaction.
you looked at lucy with a stone cold glare while she blew you a kiss, alexia watched how angry you were, she could practically feel it radiating off you on the other side of the change room.
“estás bien? (are you okay)” alexia walks up to you, holding a cold drink out to you. you take it after a moment of hesitation, “uh, yeah, sí” you smile, “lucia is annoying you?” alexia grins, looking over at lucy to see her and keira whispering while looking at you. “yes, she’s very annoying” you grumble, your eyebrows furrowing.
alexia smiles fondly at you, her hand moving to your face, her thumb smoothing out the crease between your eyebrows. “wrinkles” she tutts, your breath caught in the back of your throat as you looked up at her.
“are you coming tonight?” she says like she didn’t just make you flatline. she’s talking about a team bonding session at her house. “yeah, i think so” you smile at her, “think or know?” she teases, was she flirting with you?
“know, i’ll be there” you mock, she nods with a pleased expression, “hasta luego, lindura (see you later, cutie)” she winks, moving to grab her bag from her cubby and leave, making sure to look back at you another time with a soft smile before walking out.
you get pulled out of your trance once you hear your phone blowing up again, checking it to see lucy had recorded you watching alexia leave. you throw your head back in frustration but chose to avoid letting the older girl feel your wrath, you were still on a buzz from the thought of alexia flirting with you.
when you arrived at alexia’s house, you brought her a bottle of wine with a sheepish grin. when she opened the door for you, she pulled you into the warmest hug, both of you fitting together like a puzzle.
“finalmente! (finally) i was waiting for you!” she grins as she pulls away, taking the wine out of your hands and grabbing one of yours to drag you into the living room where everyone was.
her hand was so warm against yours, soft against your skin and you really didn’t want her to let go. “you look beautiful” alexia smiles before she ushers you to sit down, you barely had the time to tell her how breathtaking she looked, dressed casually but still looking like she could be on the front of a magazine.
you sit next to mapi and she immediately bombards you with questions, “have you kissed yet?” she questions, you slap her knee, “ingrid, your girlfriend is a bully” you huff, ingrid laughs, nodding along with you with an apologetic smile.
everyone was watching a movie while eating, alexia sitting beside you, the two of you would chat back and forth with small giggles and smiles shared between you.
by the time the night was ending, alexia’s arm was resting behind you on the couch, basically over your shoulder while you were in your own little bubble.
when you left that night, you couldn’t stop thinking about all the interactions you had with the catalan, you needed to do something about it. fast.
on a match day for barcelona, you decided it was time for you to tell her about your feelings. it was clear you were flirting with each other. confirmed during the game.
in the second half, you managed to get a goal, using the technique alexia had taught you a couple of days prior.
she was the first one to you after, the loud roar of the crowd drowned out when you felt alexia’s strong arms wrapping around your waist.
you both smiled so brightly as she congratulated you, placing you on the ground, giving you an affectionate kiss on the forehead and squeezing your shoulders. this told you everything. it wasn’t just her being friendly, it was alexia making a move.
at the end of the match, the two of you lingered in the middle of the pitch, you were fidgeting so much alexia was worried.
“(y/n)?” she dips her head to make eye contact with you, “estás bien? (are you okay)” you nod, opening your mouth to speak but nothing came out. “take a deep breath” she smiles, a hand on your shoulder offering you comfort but also stressing you out.
“ale” you start, she nods with an encouraging smile, “i really fancy ya, ale, i’ve been wantin’ to tell ya for a while” you blurt out, alexia’s eyebrows furrow, she looks a little confused.
the silence was loud, why hasn’t she said anything back. if this was her rejection, it hurt more than anything she could have verbalised.
“you know what, forget i said anythin’” you run off before she could say anything. “qué? (what)” she was about to ask you to repeat yourself, one - because you were speaking too fast, two - she didn’t know what fancy meant.
you heard her call out for you but you ran into the change room, knowing keira and lucy were in there. “keira!” you yell, “fucking check my pulse!” you shove your arm in her face and she looks at you in shock. only a couple of people were inside, and the ones that were were shocked at how you tumbled into the room.
“jesus, your heart is going so fast” keira says as she presses her fingers to the inside of your wrist. “fuck, why couldn’t you tell me i’m dead and this is a nightmare” you groan, your hands running over your face frustratingly.
“what’s wrong with you?” lucy says as she walks out of the shower to see you in absolute shambles. “everything!” you explain each and every detail and they look at you sympathetically, understanding now why you were so upset.
what you didn’t know was alexia was outside, ear pressed to the door as she heard you explain that you were trying to confess. she feels her stomach tighten, cursing herself for not understanding what you were saying.
“whatever, i’m going home, don’t follow me” you grit, tears pooling at your waterline as you rush out. alexia had moved out of eyeline when she heard you, quickly going into the change room and drilling lucy and keira for your address that they happily gave her with sly grins. happy to know it was all a misunderstanding.
that afternoon, you hastily wiped your tears away thinking about alexia. you had misunderstood her intentions clearly, you were disappointed with yourself.
you heard the banging from the front door and groaned, knowing your fellow england teammates were probably on the other side with ice cream and apologetic smiles.
“i told you both not to follow me-” you huff, the door opening to see alexia standing there, a bouquet of bright flowers in hand. “hola (hello)” she smiles, “what are you doing here?” you ask softly, “can i come in?” you nod, moving back a little so she could step inside. she hands you the flowers and you take them with a confused expression.
what type of rejection was this?
“i heard you speaking to lucy and keira before” she starts nervously, both of you walking to the kitchen so you could put the flowers in water, they were beautiful.
“it’s fine if you don’t feel the same” you shrink into yourself, brushing the petals of one of the flowers between your fingers.
“hermosa (beautiful)” she calls out, moving around your counter to stand directly in front of you. “me gustas mucho, y quiero estar contigo (i like you a lot, i want to be with you)” she says earnestly, speaking in her mother tongue and hoping you understood because she was speaking from the heart.
you freeze, each and every word quickly translated in your head. “amor (love), you’re very beautiful and nice but you speak very fast, i did not understand a word you said before” she laughs, you can’t help but laugh too, shaking your head at how fast you fled the situation.
“i’m sorry, ale” you grin, “don’t be” she dismisses, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear, relishing in the blush she just produced on your cheeks.
“me gustas mucho (i like you a lot), alexia” you smile, she gives you a dazzling expression, appreciating how you spoke her mother tongue to her so she really understood this time. “muy bien, preciosa! (very good, precious)” she coos affectionately, her hand cradling your cheek as she directed your eyes to hers.
“we will teach each other, sí?” she grins cheekily, you hum along with her words, “sí”.
she pulls you closer to place a sweet kiss on your lips, your stomach lurching at how soft they were against yours.
you both smile into it as she drew you closer, your arms wrapping around her neck while her free hand came to rest on the small of your back to press you against her.
she pulls away, not without pressing a few more kisses to your lips through the giggles and the small chatter between the two of you.
when you both came to training the next day hand in hand, sighs of relief were heard from everyone. lucy whipped out her phone as quickly as she could and sent pictures to the england group chat, your phone blowing up more than ever.
now that the team saw you interact, the teasing somehow got worse every time alexia would kiss you, or even hold your hand.
the pining drove everyone insane but the loved up versions of the two of you were insufferable. you were attached at the hip, just how you and alexia wanted.

Princess
PAIRING: Dad!RAN HAITANI X Mom!READER, (DOMESTIC AU, PARENT AU) RAN AND READER ARE IN THEIR 30S. Genre: Fluff, Slight angst, Heartwarming, Slight crack at the end.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
You and Ran had two cute daughters, Reina, your eldest who was 4 years old, and Rimika, your newborn of 10 months.
You had picked up your kids from your parents house after you returned from work, after which you changed them into their nightwear and pajamas, serving them their dinners, before putting Rimika to sleep. As you put Rimika to sleep, you noticed your other daughter no where in her room, making you confused. After making sure your youngest was asleep, you walked into the living room, only to find your daughter, sitting on the couch with her legs spread, her blond small braids on her shoulders, her arms crossed, staring at a distance with a pout. You'd never lie that you two made exceptionally cute kids, but you had to figure out what was going on in your daughter's mind.
"What's on your mind sweetie?" You said, as you sat beside her on the couch, folding your legs up on the couch, your one hand resting on the top of the headrest, where you leaned your head against, while your other hand poked your daughter's cheek.
"Nothing..." Your daughter mumbled, the pout still not leaving her face, making you snort, "Are you sure? You can tell me if something's troubling you, okay? Im your mama, and ill help you no matter what, and so does daddy. So dont be shy or scared to tell us anything, because we are here for you."
"Okay.." Your daughter mumbled, making you more confused. Reina was an energetic and cheerful girl, but also surprisingly mature for her age. So it was an obvious surprise seeing your cheery baby be quiet and calm.
You two stayed in silence for a few moments, as you continued watching TV, since you were waiting for your husband to return home and have dinner together.
You could see Reina take glances at you, opening and closing her mouth for a few seconds. You didnt want to force her into telling you, as you wanted her to develop the trust for you from within her. After a few minutes you heard your daughter speak.
"Mama"
"Yea?"
"Why does Dada spend so much money?"
You looked amused at your elder daughter, Reina, as she looked cute with her head tilted slightly, eyebrows furrowed curiously.
"What do you mean?"
"Well...today at school, Mimi said that her mom scolds her for asking too much toys, and that she needs to grow more big and be a good girl to get more toys. But when i ask Dada to buy me something he gives me what i want. Does this mean I'm a bad girl?"
You then fully turn towards your daughter, lowering the voice of the TV, before speaking, "No sweetie, thats not completely true. Yes you need to be good girl and grow big to get some much cooler toys, but Dada buys you stuff because he loves you very much, and just wants you to be happy and see you smile."
Listening to this, your daughter's eyes sparkled, as she crawled and sat beside you, "Really?"
"Yes really"
Reina then put a finger on her lips in her thinking pose, as she sat facing towards you on the couch, "Why does Dada love us and Uncle Rindou so much then?"
You took a deep breath, thinking of how to exactly answer this question, "That's because when Dada was just like you, he didnt have anyone to love him and uncle Rindou, just like how Dada loves you. Thats why Dada gives you big warm hugs so that you know that he will always be there for you."
Reina crawled towards you more, as she hugged you by the waist, making you hug her as well, as you soothed her hair with your one hand. You decided to let her stay awake this time, as you knew she wanted to see her dad.
After half an hour, you heard a jingling of keys, before you saw the lilac haired man walk in, exhausted, his eyes glimmering as soon as it fell on you and your daughter.
Reina broke from your grasp, before rushing towards her father, yelling 'Daddaaa' as Ran kneeled down to catch her into a hug.
"Heyy Princess, I missed youuu." Ran said, as he picked her by both his hands and hugging her tightly, as you walked towards the father daughter duo, "Okay Reina, let Dada clean himself up before you yammer his ears out."
After Ran came out of the bedroom freshened up, he saw his daughter sat on the kitchen counter talking about her favourite cartoon, while you readied both of yours dinners, humming and replying to her conversation in between.
As Ran walked towards the kitchen, Reina spotted him, squealing and telling him to pick her up by signalling him by her wide open arms. He picked her up, balancing her by his hip and one arm, while the other held his plate, as you two settled on the couch.
As you three talked with each other, Reina twiddled with her braid, before asking,
"Dada i want to ask you something."
"What is it princess?"
"Does your Mama and Dada love you?"
You both looked at Reina surprised at the sudden question before looking at each other, wondering how to answer the question, before Ran took deep breath, looking towards the TV for a few seconds, before audibly exhaling, "Well sweetie, i dont have a mama or dada."
Reina tilted her head in confusion, "Why not dada? Where are they?"
"I don't know sweetie. Me and uncle Rindou don't know where they are."
"Why?" Reina prodded.
"Because my Mama and Dada didn't want me and uncle Rindou, so they threw us away."
Ran was used to it and was in terms with it since him and his brother were young, so he said it casually as if it was not a big deal. Reina pouted sadly, as she stopped twiddling with her blonde braid.
"Awwww" Reina said sadly, as Ran nodded, as he continued eating his food. "I know right. But now i not only have uncle Rindou, but your mama, Rimika and you as well now."
Reina stayed quiet for a few seconds before innocently looking into Ran's eyes.
"I want you Dada."
Ran stopped mid bite, as you both looked at her in surprise.
He could feel himself becoming warm, surprisingly feeling his eyes blur slightly, as he put down the spoon on his plate before tugging his baby towards him, "Come here pumpkin." Ran cooed, hugging Reina tightly as Reina reciprocated the hug, as she buried her face in his chest. Your heart swelled with warmth as you heard your daughter's heartwarming words, and the warm interaction between the father and daughter.
Ran and Rindou had to work their asses off before they were one of the toughest delinquents in Roppongi in their teens, and they were happy and enough with each other. So they didnt bother with their parents' absence majority of the times, but that also meant them having lack of parental affection as well.
Ran never thought about his future much until he met you, making you one of the few people he cared about, asides from Rindou and some of his friends. And now you gifted him with two beautiful daughter with equally beautiful hearts. And hearing his daughter's words, he never knew that such her few words would make him so vulnerable and loved, as if his inner child had been healed.
"I want you Dada. I love you."
"I love you too, so so so much princess, more than anyone can imagine." Ran said as he showered her face with kisses, not breaking the hug, as you rubbed your hand soothingly at his back.
"Dada will always be with you and would fight any bad guys trying to hurt my princesses."
Reina giggled as she was showered by her dada's attention and kisses. After finishing your dinners, Reina played with you both, as she kept on chatting and talking about her day in school, and how she got a star in her hand by the teacher for good job. Soon, unsurprisingly, she felt sleepy as she let out a yawn, making Ran moving to pick her.
"Dada i wanna play with you more."
"We'll play tomorrow. Now you're very sleepy."
"Awww I'm not. Pwease Dada." Reina whined as she wrapped her arms around Ran's neck and pulling him down, as she sat on the floor, whining, but her sleepy eyes saying otherwise.
"How about you go to sleep now and Ill tell you a bedtime story."
Reina blinked, as she thought about the offer before nodding and letting Ran pick her up, as she buried her face on his shoulder.
As he settled Reina in her bed, Ran told her a fairytale bedtime story, as Reina listened closely, before she felt her eyes droop.
As Ran saw her fall asleep, he soothed her head by his hand before kissing her on her forehead. He then kissed lightly on Rimika's forehead before walking out of the kid's room, and entering both of your's master bedroom, as you readied yourself to sleep.
As you both got on the bed, you had a slight smile on your face, as you placed a hand on his shoulder, "Hey, you okay?"
Ran looked at her, "Yea, in fact, im more than fine." Ran smiled genuinely, which made you kiss him on the cheek.
"im glad. Reina really does love you a lot, sometimes even more than me which makes me jealous. A complete Dada's girl. I wont even be surprised if even Rimika would favor you more." You joked, as Ran snorted lightly, as you both sat leaning against the headboard of the bed.
"Well its the Haitani genes, baby? What did you expect? Im the cooler parent obviously" Ran smirked, making you playfully roll your eyes.
We sat for a few seconds in silence, before Ran spoke up, "I was thinking of taking a holiday from work tomorrow, and spend some time with the kids. Ill inform Rindou about it"
"I think thats a good idea as well, its been a while, and Reina and Rimika did miss you a lot. But inform Rindou now, because we both know damn well you wont wake up early in the morning, and even if you do, you'll become a grumpy old man."
Ran rolled his eyes, at your comment, reaching towards his phone by the bedside table. "You are just proving my point the more you roll your eyes."
"Watch your tongue woman." Ran glared playfully, as he texted Rindou about his leave, before setting the phone aside, wrapping his hands around your waist, as you switched off the bedside lamps and laid down on the bed to sleep. Ran snuggled you towards him, your back towards his chest, as you could feel his chest moving.
"By the way, you need to stop spoiling your kids more. We already have a mini you in the form of our eldest daughter, and if you spoil her more, she's gonna turn into a brat."
"What wrong with a mini me? Im great."
you turned around, facing him, your eyebrows raised, giving him a 'really' look, "No offense, but i cannot let our daughter inherit your personality of all people."
"I have a great personality woman, what are you talking about. Im charming, fun and easy going."
"You have a shitty personality."
"Oh yea? Bold words coming from the woman who married and had sex with this personality, not to mention, have two kids."
You rubbed your fingers at the bridge of your nose as you sighed, knowing he had a point, as Ran smirked, his droopy eyes lit up in amusement.
"Fine, just dont spoil them too much. As it is Reina has started throwing tantrums more than usual, i dont want her to continue like this."
Ran raised his eyebrow amusingly, as he calmly and jokingly spoke, "Reina doesnt throw much around me though?"
"Of course she won't, she knows you'll give her anything you want."
"And that i will always do, no matter what. She's my little princess after all."

Miguel Headcanons: Mrs. O'Hara - Two
3k+ - husband!Miguel O'Hara x spider-wife! reader
Tumblr media
summary: Mr & Mrs. O'Hara, again! warnings: no real smut but still suggestive content! so mdni. back pain, bcuz of spider duties but nothing graphic. suggested switch! miguel omfg. fluffy/that lovey dovey shit. lmk if I missed some! pretty tame aside from me sprinkling suggestive stuffs ;) notes: heyyy, the long-awaited part 2 is here. but this time with me dabbling in some spice. slight au ofc. i rlly enjoyed writing this, got a few things in the works. besides that, enjoy my loves! this was extremely self indulgent
pt. 1!
Your husband is and has always been bark and bite, it’s common knowledge
But god is he literally the softest man you’ve ever met
You’re his world and more, his life through and through
He craves your love and attention, always
In public, he HAS to be touching you in some way has and will throw a tantrum
But when in private? He’s literally all over you
“Lyla honey, can you pull up last week's mission reports please?” You called out, scrolling aimlessly through a plethora of your husband’s holo-screens. Lyla’s familiar orange hue showed up by your right shoulder, “Hey mama, you got it. Mind telling me what exactly you're looking for, pretty lady?” She asked with a familiar teasing tone. You gave her a sly smirk before answering “In search of Hobie and I’s latest report, I needed to add a follow-up.” She dissipated briefly before reappearing next to the holo-screen you were occupying and pulling up the documents. You thanked her before she blew you a playful kiss and dissipated once more. “Mi reina?” Miguel called out softly, “You up there?” You walked to the edge of his platform and shot him a goofy smile, answering his question. You begin to lower the platform before you return to working the screens. Miguel frowns as he’s greeted with the sight of your back to him but quickly takes the opportunity to grab the new swivel chair (before you he had no chairs, up until he just utilized a shitty old one. Since having to work in his office more frequently you’ve been adding upgrades and decided to start with the chairs) and pulled it behind you, wrapping his arms around your thighs
“How was your debrief, love?”
He grunted pulling you closer, nuzzling his face into the middle of your back while caressing your thighs. You chuckled at the action, used to his clinginess.
“That bad huh, honey?” You teased, earning you a soft smack to your lower stomach. He lifted his head for a second before letting it fall back into place followed by another grunt. “Talk to me caveman, I don’t speak grunt.” Another soft smack. He attempts to get you to sit on his lap but it’s your turn to give him a small smack, reminding him that you have to finish the report or you’ll forget again. “I could’ve done it for you mami. Just leave it.” His arms found their home around your thighs again, this time a little tighter to secure you in place. “He speaks, how wonderful” you reply sarcastically, still seemingly unfazed by his behavior. You can feel him pouting behind you, before letting out what you can only identify as a cross between a whine and groan. That makes you break and start giggling at his childish behavior, finally giving him the satisfaction of falling into his lap. Without fail, he presses his face into your neck and moves to wrap his arms around your middle to make sure you don’t try and get away again. You maneuver your hand to scratch at his scalp, earning you a groan of appreciation.
“You smell so nice cariño,” He sighed, pressing a soft kiss in the junction between your neck and shoulder. You hum and let him cuddle you, assuming that the debrief this morning was a little hard on him. You’re a fool for thinking his intentions are innocent as you’re met with the familiarity of his teeth softly sinking into your pulse point. It’s almost embarrassing at the way you preen at the sensation, and you feel the cockiness radiating off of Miguel. The way his lips curl into a smug smirk, and his hands take the opportunity to softly squeeze your jaw and grant himself the access he needed. Through half-lidded eyes, you remember exactly where you are, and while you’re no saint to that happening here; that familiar beep of his watch brought you to your senses. You could feel the irritation practically oozing off of him, as you turned to face him with a quirked brow “Answering that one? It’s Jess.” He lifted his head to reveal his irritated expression and lightly poked your cheek with his pointer figure, “Maybe if I just let it ring, she won’t bother…” He murmured to himself, greedy hands switching to kneading your thighs before you scoff and answer it for him.
“MI- Oh god.” He couldn’t help but roll his eyes, “What?” He asked harshly.
You flicked his forehead as he snarled at the hologram, “He meant to say yes. What’s up, honey?” You spoke up, narrowing your eyes at the impatient man below you.
“Hey, mama. Miguel, you’re needed, like right now. So I suggest you wrap this up.” She wagged her finger back and forth, motioning to the two of you tangled together
He flat-out ended the call after that, letting out a dramatic sigh. He dropped his head between your shoulder blades and planted a kiss there. “Go now,” You softly demanded before standing up with a stretch, turning to face him. The look on his face was priceless, pure frustration paired with an angry pout. You couldn’t help but laugh before he moved excruciatingly slowly out of his office, but not before giving you one last kiss followed by a smack to your ass.
The nickname “mama” honestly stemmed from how much Miguel had called you “mami” I witnessed this my whole life and it is by far my favorite term of endearment so everyone be quiet
Both Lyla and Jess picked up on it quickly and had so lovingly started calling you it to fuck with Miguel. But it really just stuck.
But despite the playful nickname, it really rang true
You were a caretaker at heart, it shined in everything you did
From fieldwork to HQ assignments, you looked after everyone you were involved with
Now everyone who knew you beforehand was aware of this, great friend or friendly colleague
But not everyone was aware of the fact and it was a feat to deal with those who took it as something else
You handled numerous duties, and recruitment was one of them. You and Jess had handled a lot of backbone assignments, which allowed you to be on the field, but a lot of it required intense research on spider people. So when a new spider landed on your radar, it didn’t hurt to work your magic. He had been bitten only six months prior and had a background in scientific research. It would be difficult to get a brand new spider across to Miguel, but his skill set held a lot of potential.
So with much deliberation between you all, you settled on your brand new recruit. He was ambitious, yet very naive. Despite the fact, you wanted to give him a chance. Walking him through Sector 13 was a breeze, and while he may be naive, you weren’t. Yes, it was technically on you for bringing him in, but that didn’t mean you were anticipating his innocent flirting. You’ve seen this time and time again, young and feeling a light ego boost from being Spider-man.
You brushed it off with ease, professionalism always being a top priority. With that being said, you deflected his advances and went on with business as usual. When you had taken into account his persistence, you should’ve known he would’ve been the same way in his flirting.
“As you’ve witnessed, HQ is divvied up into a multitude of sectors. But for right now I’ll be taking you to Sector 8 to run diagnostics and to introduce you to Miguel O’Hara”
He nodded eagerly before questioning, “That’s the man Jessica mentioned previously, the boss?” You politely nodded, “I see. What’s he like anyway? Anything to anticipate?” You honestly would have rolled your eyes in any normal setting, having to describe your husband was interesting, to say the least. “I think you’ll know when you meet him” you chuckled airily, he smirked “While on the topic of getting to know one another. How about you? Will I be getting to know you?” While blatantly flirting, he was quite nervous, making his voice crack just a little toward the end of his question.
“I’m sure you will be, while I do play a part in recruitment, I also do fieldwork so I’m sure our paths will cross from time to time,” Another polite deflection. He was a sweet man, truly, but it would be best if he didn’t find himself landing on your husband’s bad side on his first day. You went on with the tour, mental checklist depleting as you ran him through the operations. You’d be lying if you said you hadn’t kept Miguel’s office last on the checklist.
As you trekked through the “evil lair,” you heard him mumbling to himself about how inaccessible the place was, an off-handed joke to see if you’d laugh. You gave him a kind smile, still in professional mode. You two finally found yourselves below the platform, and you honestly should’ve expected the dramatic silence as he lowered it excruciatingly slow. You rolled your eyes, drama queen, you thought to yourself. You felt him nudge you lightly, “Is..is it always like this?” You giggled quietly, “Yes, yes it is. Please don’t mind him.” You could feel Miguel’s scowl towards the man before you had even caught a glimpse of it, but when he had turned around he resembled what you could only describe as a peeved cat, claws and all.
You introduced the recruit coolly, “And this is Miguel O’Hara.” You could tell he was nervous, and was he subtly hiding behind you? Oh, please take it easy on him Miguel. “Nice to meet you sir-” The man couldn’t even get out a full sentence, “Please, there’s no need for pleasantries.” Your eyes hurt from how much you were rolling them at this point, shooting him an unimpressed look. “Well, um…I wanted to thank you for this opportunity. I admire your work here, as from one scientist to another-” If even possible, Miguel’s glare hardened “Again, no need for pleasantries. Mrs. O’Hara here has well informed me of your background and I will say, I do not need another reminder.”
You could’ve shot a web over his mouth at this exact moment. Miguel always kept an eye out for you, and that meant him utilizing abusing the plethora of surveillance around HQ. You should’ve known better, he had indefinitely caught his flirting.
“Oh I didn’t even realize that, oh my god, I am so sorry-” Did not catch a break whatsoever, “Mrs. O’Hara, My wife.” You pinched the bridge of your nose, this fucking man. “Yes, Mrs. O’Hara. Please excuse me, If I had known I swear I would not have done anything” Miguel nodded slowly, but not yet satisfied. “We both greatly value professionalism, so be very careful with how you conduct yourself here. You’ve been briefed, Jessica will be coming to retrieve you outside of my office. You’ll be assigned your first mission after training. Feel free to excuse yourself, preferably right now.” He answered flatly, enjoying the sight of him squirming.
As quickly as he came, he was gone. You stood there, arms crossed, paired with a scowl of your own. It was almost like you two were having a staring competition, seeing which one would break first. It was until your chests were nearly touching you felt Miguel’s hand brush against your hip. You went to flick his hand, but being two steps ahead he caught your hand, “Not quick enough are we, Mrs. O’Hara?” Smug asshole. You pulled your hand away, gently switching to rub at his chest. You were teasing him, he knew that, but he was very curious about your next move as you were getting closer to his neck. You took your time tracing his collarbones, before moving to cup the side of his neck and rubbing your thumb along his throat enjoying how his Adam’s apple bobbed. You didn’t miss the way he subtly tilted his head back, just a smidge, now it was your turn to be smug. But instead, you swiftly moved your hand to the back of his neck, bringing it down just a little, making it so his lips barely brush against your own. You could hear his heartbeat, not missing the way it quickened at your actions. You kept him there for a few seconds, wanted to see if he’d even try and go for it, you could’ve laughed at how right you were. You caught his movement, digging your nails into the back of his neck as a warning. You scoffed at his submission,
“Jealous are we, Mr. O’Hara?”
Some days, you two played the game of cat and mouse
Who was the cat or the mouse? Depended on the day
But on stressful days, you two seemed to be so in tune with each other
Despite not sharing spider senses, Miguel always and I mean always knew when you were stressed and vice versa
As mentioned previously, you two held a lot of responsibility in the Spider-Society
So on days when it comes too much, you’re both there to be each other’s comfort
“Fuck,” you hissed as you go to maneuver your body gingerly onto the top of the ledge of a building, patrolling. It didn’t help when the late-night drizzles of the city slowly started to turn into ice-cold raindrops. You could’ve laughed at the irony of the situation, your back aching from a very slippery brawl that occurred during last night's patrol. It had been pouring for a few days, bringing out the pungent smell of Earth-65’s city along with the unknown that lurked in the shadows. You’ve been a little more on edge, the downpour has been having some serious repercussions on your back. There was no doubt that you were a very agile fighter, but when water is added to the mix it makes you just a tad bit clumsy the way this is actually me in real life and I unintentionally self-inserted here.
So here you were, your sore and slightly bruised back being offered a fiercely ice-cold soothe from the rain. Stars are utterly drowned out by the ambient lights, and your senses are unpleasantly filled with the smell of sulfur mixed and the musk of damp concrete causing you to scrunch up your face under your mask. Focus, the massage gun can deal with the back pain you remind yourself of, the patrol at hand.
If it wasn’t for the icy reminder, you honestly would’ve forgotten what you were doing on Earth-65. Gwen had been off, the both of you splitting up in order to cover ground. An anomaly has been a real pain in the ass for the past few days, managing to slip from your grasp, the source of your back pain. Gwen had specifically asked for you to come with her, you’ve been training with her recently to help her build progress while on missions. She felt more at ease with you there, and you could not turn her down after knowing that. You’re met with an orange glow by your side, a small smile coming to your lips. “Hey, mamas. Just wanted to let you know, Miguel is gonna pop in soon to take the mission from here. Talk about drama!” She exclaimed, picking at her nails. You gave her a confused look, “Uh…Lyla, honey, I’ve got this covered.” She tsked and giggled at the comment, “Oh I don’t doubt it, ma. But what I do doubt is that back pain you’re feeling, after adding some software updates to that pretty little number you got on I’ve been able to read your vitals along with that pain. You’re experiencing some bruising from that blow you took last night, along with some concerning muscle straining. Therefore, Dr. Miguel is ordering you out on this one sweetie.” You groaned, she was right but you needed to get this finished, you needed to be there for Gwen. But without further protest, you see the familiar split as a portal opened. In all of his glory, there stood your husband, and you know he had a quizzical look under the mask.
“Mi vida, why aren’t you headed home? You need rest…”He said softly, voice full of concern. You move to hug his middle, his body temperature a stark contrast from the cold, putting you at ease. “Amor, I can do this. Gwen needs me and I understand-”
His hand moves to cup the back of your neck, “Stop. I understand, but you need to go home right now. I’ll be there in a few hours to help but right now I need you at home, in bed. Quit pouting, it’s not gonna help your case.” You sighed, he knew, he always knew. Usually, you’d resist, be stubborn and carry on, but god was the ache in your back really starting to irritate you. “Don’t take this as me accepting defeat, this is all in the name of medical concerns.” You mumbled, forehead resting against his chest. “Oh is that the great, amazing Spider-Woman accepting defeat? I don’t know, it really sounds like it.” You let out an annoyed sigh, “You want me to go home or not? Because we can hash this out together.” He snorted at your sarcasm before softly smacking the side of your thigh. “Go home mi reina, I’ll be there soon.” You nodded, not wanting to argue any further, you lifted your mask just below your nose. He smirked, letting his dissipate to reveal the bottom half of his face as well. The kiss is full of passion, a little rushed, but effectively showed your love and genuine concern. You didn’t expect the light pressure of fangs sinking into your bottom lip before you slowly pulled away, watching him release your lip with a cocky smirk. “Malo” you murmured teasingly. You shoved him lightly, before opening your own portal and heading home.
“Mi reina,” You stirred, eyes still closed, Miguel’s scent overtaking your senses. You felt your body be gently flipped onto your stomach, you were going to question the action until you felt his skilled hands working exactly where your pain was. You let out a whimper, the pressure stinging just a bit. He shushed you quietly, “I got you. Just relax.” You listen to his soft command, the pain starting to ease up. You were too tired to hide the noises you were making, letting them flow throughout the house as his thumbs massaged your lower back. “See how great it is when you listen to me, mami?” You lazily kick at his thigh as he readjusts himself to straddle your thighs, earning you a small ‘oof,’ a lazy smirk making its way to your lips at the noise. “Fine, I’ll be quiet,” You hummed, you were dozing back off into sleep at this point, your back feeling much better now. But it was when you felt his hands drift lower was when your eyes peeked back open to watch him. “Tryna get action down there? Good luck with getting me to do that, my back is sorta bruised, you see.” You felt him roll his eyes before he started to knead your thighs, earning him a soft moan from you. “Who said you need to do anything besides sit there and be pretty amor?” That made you giggle, “Touché, my love.”
You let him continue on with his ministrations, only half-awake. But he went back to massaging your back, continuing until it lulled you to sleep. He rolled over beside you, turning his body to face your sleeping one, he gingerly stroked your cheek with his thumb. “Te amo, mami.” You both fell asleep, your bodies finding their way to each other throughout the night. That night Nueva York started to rain as well, the soft patter of the rain on the window only adding to both of your comforts.
That morning was spent tangled up together as well, but this time very awake and with you thanking Miguel in his favorite way.
BONUS!
“MIGUEL!” As if on queue, his head started to ache. “Fuck,” he grumbled “Jess, yes. How are you?” He replied sarcastically. She stormed up to him, the hands on her hips emphasizing her annoyance. “Why the HELL are you scaring the newbie? Over something he didn’t know of ALL things?!” Her shouting was turning his ache into a full-blown headache. “Next time tell him to be a goddamn professional and not flirt with my wife.” He muttered, arms crossing in the process. “Oh yeah, professional. Shall I remind you of last week’s little chat? Remember the one with you practically groping-” He groaned loudly, “Don’t even start-” She let a sarcastic laugh, “Me? Start with you? NEVER!”
He was reminded of why he stayed in his office, far from everyone else.

Tumblr media
Miguel O'hara x AFAB Reader
a/n: you lost bud? go back to part one first doofus
wc: 2.54k
tags: Minors DNI, NSFW, accidental breeding kink (oop), hold the moan, creampie, slight hint to voyeurism, moreeee adventures in babysitting, pregnancy, grief, PTSD, jealousy
synopsis: You and Miguel have some stuff to share.
thanks to @cheezit-luv3rr @playmatenextdoor @montyrokz @drefear @haradasaya for asking to be tagged, lookie there. you're special)
"Easy, mi amor, easy," Miguel urged into your ear, hand plastered over your mouth while he thrust into you. "Mayday's sleeping."
You crooned behind his hand, eyes fluttering while your nose pursed hot air over his finger. It was entirely wrong, but felt too damn good to care.
While you were putting away clothes from the laundry, Miguel rested Mayday down in her travel crib then teased you into the closet.
Now, the two of you were facing the closed closet doors; his cock was thrust deep into you, one hand clamped over your mouth while the other scrubbed at your clit.
"Guess this is how'd it be with our own May, huh?" Miguel breathed lowly. "Sneaking away to fuck, hoping we don't make another?"
You trembled in his hold, your body twitching in lewd delight. Your head rested against Miguel's shoulder, eyes hazy as you stared at his taut jawline. Miguel glanced down at you, met your lust-blown eyes and smirked.
"I'll call you Mamí in front of el niño," Miguel's hand on your clit dragged up to cradle your soft stomach. "Mi reina, mamacita."
His words planted themselves deep within you, meeting the tip of his hot cock pressed tight within your walls. You squeaked, your hand folding over his at your stomach.
Miguel seethed into your ear, his grit teeth worming into the shell before gruffing out another word. "Make me a Papí, amor. I wanna be a Papí."
You felt dissolved into warm ooze, pliable to his manipulation. He was saying everything you wanted to hear, pushing into you just how you wanted until you shivered and came.
Miguel paused, opening his mouth against your temple as your hot, gushy walls squeezed and worked at his cock.
"You feel deliciosa. Make me cum, mamacita. Work on my cock."
Your knees melted apart, wincing inward as the sensitivity got to you. Miguel released a gruff breath along your hair, pulling you off of your feet and further onto him. Supple in his hold, his hand now an arm cradling your stomach as he straightened his back to spear you on him.
Your eyes shut, shuddering as you felt hot again; coming again, you felt your wet slick down your thighs and across Miguel's tight waist. Miguel chuckled mirthlessly, feeling your wet sop on his skin with your pussy now a vice grip on him.
He ducked his face into your hair and paused, cumming hard into your begging walls; Miguel's moans echoed through your skull, his praises to you so low and congealed. You sighed at him, reaching for his hand to finally catch your breath.
His words muttered, his accent bleeding into his consonants. "Mi vida, mi sol, mi cielo."
You pat at his forearm, your smallest form of comfort to him. Kissing at his neck, you offered a whisper.
"Okay, honey?"
Miguel inhaled the soft scent of your hair and pulled himself up to meet your lips. "Perfect, amor."
He kissed at your nose, reveling in the warm pool the two of you. Miguel held his hand to your jaw, resting his forehead to yours.
The two of you held on for a few more minutes until Miguel's ears perk at Mayday's stirring. For a moment, he believed it was your daughter. With another breath, he remembered.
Miguel retreated from your hot, still-throbbing walls now plush with his seed. He redressed himself carefully, reaching down to pull your skirt back up. With another kiss to your temple, he moved for the doors and opened them.
You stepped out and broke into a smile at Mayday standing in her crib. "Better than finding you on the wall, May."
You wiped your hands on your skirt, adjusting your clothes just in case, then picked up Mayday. "Food? You hungry?"
Miguel stood by the bed, staring at the folded clothes in the basket then to you holding May. The kid rested her chin on your shoulder, leaning into your neck.
You glanced back at Miguel, your brows downturned and your bottom lip starting a pout. Resting your chin on top of the little girl's head, you cooed.
His heart clenched so hard that he almost fell to his knees in response. The moment you and Mayday shared made his grief constrict, his happiness swell. He wanted that for you. For both of you.
Miguel paused in his movement, holding himself still from going to the bathroom. He was going to grab you a box, because that was the deal. Your brows furrowed at Miguel, watching the silent storm of his mind breach to his face.
"Miggy," you began, tilting your head to begin your query.
He came back into place, looked at you then placated his hands to his hips. "I'll be right back."
You stepped in place of him, stopping him from leaving the bedroom. "Hey, it's okay. Relax, relax." you drew out your last word. "We have time. Let's just go get some lunch."
-
You lied.
You didn't have time. There was no need to beat a clock that was already broken, to race a timer that wasn't even set.
Sitting across from Miguel, you studied his profile while he cut up pasta before Mayday. You hid a gulp, imagining him doing the same for your child.
You wondered how you'd tell him, when the best time to bring it up was. The two of you had Mayday until Sunday, a whole 'nother day until Peter B. came to pick her up.
"Nena," Miguel tried to pull you in, to make you look at Mayday holding a spaghetti noodle in her ham fist. With a glance to you, he saw you miles away in your mind.
He clenched his jaw, ready to bring you back, but Mayday squealed and managed out of her seat. Miguel rested his hand on yours, his other pulling Mayday's little legs to sit back down.
"Miguel," you began and by the stringent in your voice, you regretted saying it. You attempted to smooth it over with: "Honey."
Your throat felt dry, though you'd drank three glasses of water beforehand. Now, you were fighting the urge to run to the bathroom but only for the acid that was starting up your throat.
Your hands went around Miguel's, his large hand cradled in yours. You held his eyes, not realizing a new ice enveloped your spine.
"I..." You slowly forced a breath between your pursed lips then licked your top lip.
Miguel's brows wormed through emotion, confusion to concern while you swallowed and glanced at May. You looked around at the patio, empty of other patrons.
This wasn't how you wanted to tell him, but the secret was growing within you.
"I..." How could you word this? This didn't feel like a fuck-up, this felt almost divine after hearing Miguel's confession. But that only made the next part difficult. How were you going to tell him that this might not be...
Miguel's hand reached to cradle your cheek. "Are you okay?"
Your nerves were shooting out to him, your demeanor making him antsy. He didn't know what to expect from you now. Miguel couldn't put anything together by looking at you.
And you weren't giving it up in your mind. He prodded, inquisitively, to see if he could ease your thoughts. But inside it was a rage, muddled with the two of you and everything he'd confessed to you when he thought you were sleeping.
Instead of mentioning it, he waited for you to answer him. You shook your head, blinked.
"No, yes," you managed to answer, confused on what to say and how to say it. You couldn't say that you needed to talk, the phrase itself twisting in your gut.
Mayday stood up again and Miguel glanced at the toddler. "You, sit."
You cut to May and grinned, watching her plop back into her seat. Miguel guided your eyes back to him, sitting forward to lower his voice. "Is there something wrong?"
You shook your head, your mouth prying open and shut then back again. He was good with kids, you knew he was. But would he be good with this kid? Would he be happy with this kid or would he treat it like the band-aid over his bleeding heart?
Then Miguel could see it. His tap into your mind found the source. He scoffed, his lips flashing to a grin of disbelief. His brows flexed, his hand grabbing your wrist as he straightened up.
You stared at Miguel's face, the sudden realization painting his expression. You pulled your free hand back to your temple, attempting to shield it from Miguel. "I hate when you do that."
Miguel snorted an air from his nose, amused by your admittance. "I'm sorry, amor, but you were struggling."
You shut your eyes, breathed out shakily. Still, tears began to pool behind your lids and you licked at your lips. "I...I wanted to say it first."
Miguel broke at the crack of your voice, out of his chair and knelt before you. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Nena, tell me. Say it."
You opened your wet eyes and looked down at Miguel, his arms folded in your lap holding your hands. "I'm..." you swallowed hard again, worked through the pause in your words. "I'm pregnant."
The words came out as a relief to Miguel, dropping your hands to hold his face in his. He bowed in your lap, almost in praise to you and your beauty.
Your face broke into a grin, tears streaking your cheeks as you carded your fingers through his hair. Leaning forward, you rested your lips to the back of Miguel's head.
"I want you to love this baby alone," You whispered. "They are not Gabriella."
Miguel stiffened at the mention of her name. Of course you knew, he saw that you knew, but your words staked into his heart and made him sit up.
"Of course, of course, nena. I-I wouldn't..." He tried, but inside he felt the jealousy worm into place.
It wouldn't be Gabriella, there would only be one like her. And whether that was him or you that made her her, it wouldn't be the same.
You scanned the depth of his dark eyes, believing his stammered words. "I know what you said about wanting kids, but only one kid. If you don't want to do this, we can..."
Miguel's face hardened an inch, his stern nature returning. "No. No, don't even say that. I want to do this. I want to, if you do. And I can tell you do."
He raked his eyes over you, your beautiful form with glistening eyes and streaked cheeks. Miguel cradled your face, ran his thumbs under your eyes to wipe away your tears.
"I love you, and I want to be with you. Do whatever you do."
Miguel could've said again how happy he made you, but it wasn't necessary. He knew what you were hung up on.
"I'm selfish, I know that," Miguel admitted to your lap, bowing his head to show his vulnerable neck. "I know I said I only wanted her, but I want you more."
He raised his eyes to meet yours, pondering if he was worthy of your acceptance. You swiped his hands from your cheeks, then held onto them.
"Stop being Romeo for a minute and talk to me," you said, dropping your bundle of hands to your lap.
"I am," Miguel responded. "I'm here."
He glanced over to Mayday, who was blowing bubbles into her sippy cup, then back at you. "I am. We're having a niño."
You cut your eyes at his term, allowing him to stand up and caress your chin to eagerly kiss his cheek. It almost felt too easy, how he was taking it.
-
Miguel was restless that night. He'd kept May up past her bedtime, pacing through the living room as he replayed your lunch date.
He felt he'd said something wrong, that he responded wrong to something important. You told him this wasn't Gabriella, and for a half-life he felt disappointment.
Whatever miniscule sliver in him that made him feel that way, he wanted to find it and yank it out. There would be no Gabriella like the original.
There was no other, and he had to admit it. Holding Mayday against his chest while he rocked her to sleep, Miguel knew that this was his happy ending.
He'd expected a canon event to sound in the background, on his wrist, when you actually uttered the words; when nothing did, Miguel was concerned still.
A sting came to his nostrils and he bit it away with a sniffle. You'd given him what he wanted even when he couldn't ask for it. Miguel pursed a steady breath from his lips, turning in his pace to stride again.
He wasn't replacing Gabriella, she was never his. Just an attachment he'd gained while on his path to self-retribution. Miguel had to ignite the deadened patches of his soul only for them to be tilled and made new.
You aided him in that. You climbed out of bed and stood in the doorway, watching Miguel keep May close to him.
"Miggy, let's put her to bed," you muttered when he turned around to face you.
He froze in his stride, staring at you with welling eyes. Miguel sniffled again, knowing he still had work to do. This would not be his fresh start, this would be his wake-up call.
"One second, hermosa." He offered, looking down at Mayday and pulling her up to nuzzle his cheek to hers.
"She's so cute," you cooed, stepping before Miguel to stare down at her.
He nodded, looking away from the kid to you. "We get to have our own."
You smiled, spared a breath of wonder. "Yeah, and they'll be just as cute."
"Cuter," Miguel added, the word tacky and foreign on his tongue. He chuckled lowly when you looked over at him. "Let me be biased."
You leaned in to kiss Miguel's cheek then by-passed him to use the restroom. "Go, put her to bed."
Miguel nodded and did as you instructed, then waited up for you to return. He held a hand out for you to take. "I wanted to apologize for making you think..."
"It's fine," you cut in, leaning forward to peck Miguel's lips. "I know that it's hard to heal."
Miguel took a deep breath in, out. He stared up at you, tilting his head as his chest caught something sticky.
"I am happy with you. I am healing with you." He stressed softly. Miguel shook his head an inch, his nose stinging yet again. "And if I made you feel for a second that I didn't want that, I am truly sorry."
You held Miguel's jaw in your hands, ran them up through his hair as you examined his sullen face. The bags under his eyes were dulling, the red in his eyes prominent.
You took his apology and bit back your own messy look. Instead, you kissed between his brows, the tip of his nose then his lips.
And Miguel felt at ease, relaxing his shoulders and pulling you into his lap.

[series, 1] - 'the lions come at night'
Tumblr media
Reina 'Little Lion' Matsumoto is known for her reckless driving on the track, earning her the nickname she partly shares with a certain 3x WDC. Off the track, however, she's known for being bubbly, bright, and kind. When she's reached out to by F1 about joining their new 'Siblings Mentorship,' a program that will pair her with a 'similar F1 driver' as her mentor for the upcoming season, she fully expects Daniel or Lando.
Her surprise comes in the form of Max Verstappen, and though she thinks they won't be that much alike off track, she's quick to find it's quite the opposite. Reina learns she needs someone who understands what shes going through to lean on, and Max learns that sometimes healing comes in breaking a cycle that's not your own.
(multipart series, non-linear in writing)
warnings/notes: mentioned/implied abusive father, father being manipulative and nasty via phone call, [word] used to show other languages being spoken, probably inaccurate/purposefully inaccurate f2/f1 information but its for the plot, also purposefully incorrect NASCAR information (RBR having a currently running NASCAR team being part of it), and probably incorrect Japanese culture (please correct me, I'm not Japanese myself!!), 5k words.

MAX HAD ALWAYS ENJOYED MEETING YOUNG FANS. Especially the ones who were karting or just getting into motorsports, there was something strong and pure in their hearts--a full love for what they were doing that was so refreshing to him. The media could wear him down day after day, racing every few weekends and changing time zones over and over making him a bit of a husk. He and the people he worked around were always so drained and tired, but one meeting with a young fan, listen to their proud "I'll be just like you when I grow up" and a big grin as they snapped a photo with him would always set him right.
Victoria had called him soft but he didn't care. He was the go-to babysitter of her two sons for a reason, the so called 'baby whisperer' by her husband and the beloved Uncle Max who they cheered on every other weekend on TV. When Victoria's eldest had an F1 themed birthday party with his class, Max had shown up with some of his gear in his car just in case, and ended up being the life of the party as he let each kid try on some of his old helmets and gloves and such.
Max loved the few and far between meetings he had with kids because they always seemed to come to him at the perfect times. Like the day Christian asked him if he wanted to do a program a few other drivers were a doing. It was a season long 'older siblings' mentorship for teens in the F3 or F2 leagues so they could get insight into what being an F1 driver was like and how it differed from what they were doing now. It had been mentioned off hand, with Christian expecting Max to say no and that he 'didnt want to do that media stuff', but imagine Christian's surprise when the man instantly said yes. He said it with no hesitation, a small smile peeking on his lips as he asked who he'd be helping.
"Reina Matsumoto." Christian had said and Max's eyes widened with a mix of excitement and genuine happiness as a grin peeked at his lips as he looked through Reina's social medias. It was a face Christian hadn't seen much, typically reserved for Penelope or Victoria's boys.
"Oh, wait until I tell Kelly!" He'd laughed, following the driver and shutting off his phone as he'd crosses his arms and smiled.
Geri had laughed with her whole heart when Christian told the story to her that night, watching as she attempted to pack three school lunches, do the dishes, and clean up while he was making his way over to help her. He dropped his bag on the floor by the island, hands coming up to her back as he slipped behind her and into the kitchen.
"He's got a big heart," Geri said gently with a grin on her lips, pausing mid sandwich packing to press a kiss to her husband's cheek. Her nails scratched slightly as she pat his shoulder as she handed him the dishes she needed put away, "and look at him and little Penelope! He's practically her father."
"This is a teenager though." Christian emphasized as he opened the cabinet with one hand, the other balancing a stack of plates from dinner--porkchops, he'd missed it due to being in the office for the exact thing they're talking about.
He sets down the dishes in their respective spots and shuts the cabinet as he turns back to Geri, "She's seventeen, she’s Bluebell's age.”
"First of all," Geri zips closed the remaining lunch bags for the kids and turns to Christian as she points at him, "Teenager or not, Max knows how to deal with kids. We've seen that."
Geri then flicks her wrist to show a peace sign she points at Christian once more, "and second, she's from Formula Two and she? Is it Matsumoto?"
"Yep. The Reina Matsumoto, Miss Little Lion," Christian nods, the girls nickname being given due to her driving style being very similar to Max's when he was her age. Controlled chaos, slightly reckless depending on the day, but she almost always left unscathed.
"Her dad was one of Japan's top Tour Racing drivers," Christian explains as he moves to help Geri finishing wiping off the counters, "Her mom raced drift cars in the states, works in NASCAR now. Reina used to live with her dad in Japan. She just moved to England to continue pursuing racing."
"So she has two motorsports parents... how much pressure is on her?" Geri crosses her arms as she leans back on the kitchen island and Christian lets out a low whistle as he rubs his forehead.
"I don't know, they don't exactly brief me on her entire past, Ger. But from what I was able to dig up on her father? It's not good."
"Do you think they teamed her with Max because of how they were both raised?" Geri pushes off the counter to open the fridge and waves over Christian to help her stuff the lunch boxes inside with all the leftovers and other foodstuffs stacked in the fridge,
"I don't know. But looking at the words 'Project Matsumoto' as the third term when I looked up her name; and having it be an article where her dad says he pushes her to be her best 'no matter what he has to do to make her'? I can't imagine it's anything good."
Geri sighs, rolling her neck and then nodding, "But how's her mother?"
"Oh, Hana is a sweetheart. She owned the NASCAR side of Red Bull Racing until about... two years ago, when she took full custody of her daughter. Now she does engineering, she has nothing but good articles about her."
"So, dad who forces her to be the best in every race she does, and a mom who was in racing but doesn't seem to push her too hard. Parents divorced, she lived with her father, now she lives with her mother." Geri recounts and when Christian nods sharply she starts to laugh and rub at her forehead.
"So... literally Max?" She says and Christian just nods again. There's no other way to explain it, she was simply a younger version of Max. But maybe there was a chance here, to save some of the love for the world she had left, because while Max was a genuine sweetheart he was always a bit haunted in Geri's eyes.
If she could save Reina from looking the same way, that would be her own personal WDC.

Dear Reina Matsumoto,
I READ MY NAME FOR THE THIRD TIME, fingers dusting over the slight texture change from the ink on the white paper that slightly creases in my hand. René had handed it to me at Prema last weekend before I went home for Christmas. Inside was a little invitation from Formula One. I had assumed, and kinda prayed, it was some sort of contract for any team (my fingers had crossed briefly for Red Bull) but was also a bit more delighted to see it was an invitation to their 'siblings' mentorship program. I took my time reading the letter, glossing over the words asking if I would be fine being trained by a handpicked Formula One driver who matched my driving style and my personality...I was elated.
I didn't know many drivers who matched both, maybe like Lando as the closest, or if we pushed it a bit maybe Daniel but his driving was more reserved than mine. I had explained to my mother, and she had joked saying my closest match would be Max. But I doubted they'd put him with me. I doubted he'd even said yes to the whole thing, everyone knew Max hated media stunts that didn't involve him driving some weird ass vehicle or like, putting snow chains on an F1 car.
I roll over to slide the note back on my bedside table, sighing as I curl deeper into my blankets to try and fight off the chill I still felt after my afternoon run in the light snow. Probably my last exterior run of the year, I was lucky to get one so close to the end of December.
The heater fan is on high blast next to my bed, rolling warm air across my chest as I look out the window and into the setting sun on the snow tipped trees of Washington State. My mom had worked hard to get us here, to her parents home up in a coastal town, where I can faintly smell some sort of curry dish being prepared by my grandmothers nimble hands. My grandfather a fisherman, my grandmother a school treasurer, my mother a business owner and engineer, her only daughter an aspiring Formula One driver.
Quite a group.
My attempt at warmth is abruptly ended by my mother knocking on my door, waiting only a brief moment before entering. She's dressed from work, I can tell it was some sort of zoom meeting by the slippers she has on. Her hair is pulled back, makeup light on her face as the warm golden rays slip through into my room from the hallway.
"You got mail, Rei, did you not see it on the counter?" My mother asks with a slight huff, sitting on the edge of my bed and cranking up my heater with a complaint about how its still too cold in my little room. It was supposed to be an office, but when I visited my grandparents and moms side of the family (since my aunt and cousins lived with them here in the states) it became my room so I didn't have to share with toddlers.
"Jiji was cooking, didn't wanna disturb her." I say softly, looking over at my mother and noticing the giddy expression on her face. Her eyes are sparkling as her nails crease the edges of the letter.
"What?" I ask, looking up at her through the thick fuzzy blankets that cover me and basically cement me down to the bed with their weight. Another wonderful thing about my grandparents, they were always prepared.
"It's from Oracle Red Bull Racing." my mother emphasizes each word with a huge smile that only seems to grow. My mother had raced for Red Bull back when she was a bit older than me, and owned their NASCAR team for years, which she now was an engineer for. I think her excitement bleeds onto me as I throw myself up into a seated position and snag the unopened letter. I take it and nearly tear the damn thing open, my mom laughing as I hand her the envelope and flip the letter open to read aloud.
"Miss Matsumoto/Matsumoto-san," I say and then whistle, "Someone did their homework."
My mom laughs and urges me to keep reading, and so, I take a deep breath and read the words that seem so powerful even with their tiny ten or so pixel statue.
"We at Oracle Red Bull Racing wish you well this holiday season, and it's an honor for me, Christian Horner, to welcome you to the family as the younger sister/mentee of three time world champion, Max Verstappen!--"
My mom squeals in excitement at the same time I do. The usually reserved side of her gone as she leaps off my bed and jumps around as I kick my legs in excitement. Seconds later I'm falling back as my mom is crashing into me in a bone crushing hug as she laughs with watery eyes I ignore for both of our sakes.
"Oh! Oh my god, that's so exciting!" She shouts.
"[Is everything okay?]" I hear my grandfather rough voice call from the base of the stairs in Japanese and my mother lifts her head away from my ear to shout through the doorway,
"[Yes, yes, everything is fine!]" My mother laughs once more, "[Just some very good news,] keep reading Rei, keep reading!"
"Okay, okay!" I laugh, grabbing the letter and continuing down the page, trying to keep myself from skipping ahead in excitement.
"We are very excited to get to know you over this season, and look forward to meeting you in person for the first time soon! In fact, we have extended an invitation for you to meet Max and the rest of RBR at our home base in Milton Keynes on January 5th-10th. We will provide you and one guest a flight over if needed, room and board at The Berkeley in London as well as transportation to and from our garage.
We eagerly await your response. Thank you and welcome!
Christian Horner."
But the letter doesn't stop there, in fact, there's a little hand written note that's been scanned to fit on the paper and I squint to read the scratchy handwriting.
'Reina,
Hello! It's Max, your 'big brother' or mentor for this upcoming season. As you may know, I'll be your right hand this season when it comes to advice with driving and media, but I wanted to extend an invitation for you to ask/talk about any of your interests or just life in general. I genuinely cannot wait to get to see how we get along (as I'm sure we will) and I hope you have a wonderful holidays with your family.
See you in January!
Max Verstappen.
(ps. I wrote my phone number on the back of this, feel free to send me a text/call and introduce yourself!)'
The exciting news brings my family to tears of joy as we celebrate with loud laughter and tight hugs. Max Verstappen. A three time world champion helping me of all people learn the real ins and outs of racing? It’s like a dream come true.
And even though I know it should be the absolute last thing I ever could even think about asking, he’d been raised similar to myself. I needed to know how he handled it, or the lack thereof.

WALKING INTO RED BULL'S HEADQUARTERS WAS LIKE A DREAM. My mom chats with the woman whose brought us in eagerly, and excitedly points to a photo of her on the wall from the early 2000s. I'm shocked to see Christian Horner's in the photo as well. Reading the little plaque under makes it all click, it's a photo of all the 'team principles' or their equivalents of each Red Bull Sporting branch at the time.
My fingers skim over the names, EHC Red Bull München, FC Red Bull Salzburg, Hansen Motorsport, JMB Racing, and eventually I find my moms name, 'Hana Matsumoto (neé, Tanaka) Team Leader: Red Bull Racing (NASCAR).'
"Ah! Glad you both could make it!" A voice calls and I snap my head to its source, making his way across the big expanse of the lobby is Christian Horner, Geri following close behind her husband with a glittery smile. My mother shakes his hand and the two begin conversing, immediately snapping back into some sort of old pals situation while I step back to admire it.
My mother, after my father abandoned us when I was twelve, refused to touch racing for years, except for when it came to me and my karting. When I advanced to rally, she got back into working for NASCAR as an engineer, and then when I was going into Formula Four she had become a head engineer for Red Bull's NASCAR team.
I had never had an opportunity to work for Red Bull myself, narrowly missing making their junior team due to my dad's interference. I had hated Red Bull due to my fathers influence, but once or twice I caught my mother reminiscing over old images of her in her glory days of drift cars and owning a NASCAR team, and it made me wonder...
I wondered about wearing navy blue, standing on a podium, racing a car that would rocket itself around a track with no issue. And then slowly my mind would shift and I would wonder what else my father had stolen from her other than money and her daughter for years. A stolen daughter for some sort of prize he could never get for himself. A Formula One racer. Something I could be, something he would beat into me.
"And you must be Reina." Geri's voice catches me off guard and pulls me out of whatever pouty moment I've found myself in. The smile on my face is real as I allow her to pull me into a tight hug, her warm hands settling on my back as she squeezes me. It's safety in two arms, immediately, and I relax into it as I place one hand on the center of her back.
"Geri Horner, it's such an honor to finally meet my favorite Spice Girl." I say into the hug and Geri laughs, stepping back to squeeze me shoulders in her hands as she looks me over with an approving grin.
"Good to know you have taste!" She teases, turning to my mother who nods and laughs as she makes her way over to where Geri has come to distract me. Christian grabs his phone out of his pocket, glancing behind him, but I miss what he calls out as my Mom starts to speak to Geri.
"Yep! God, we have so much Spice Girls stuff in our house in Washington you'd think it was a museum." My mother giggles, patting my back as she sends me a small grin, "I think you even have a replica of the union jack dress."
"It's in Fukushima, so who knows if it's still there." I hum, my smile dropping for half a second as I remember the cold home I had lived in for years, before I force it back up, "But I bet I can find photos of it!"
"Would love to see them." Geri places a hand on her heart, then turns to Christian as he approaches us. He brings us to a small room, two chairs facing a few cameras, interns and workers milling around the room as I'm instructed to sit down in one of the chairs. I sit down as told, crossing my ankles as my mom frets with my collar and sweater for a few moments, then presses a kiss to my forehead and tells me to be kind before slipping behind the lights that shine on me.
"Alright, we're gonna have you introduce yourself..." A woman starts to explain the protocols to me. The stream is running right now, people can see me, but the audio is muted. On her signal, I'll introduce myself, and then they'll start a QnA with me while they wait for Max to arrive. I nod along, smiling when she compliments me and laughing at her jokes with practiced kindness. I wasn't media trained, but rather trained by walking on eggshells and keeping peace for years.
Eventually, I'm cued in, and I wave happily.
"Hello!" I cheer, "I'm Reina Matsumoto, known as Rei or Little Lion, this is my third year racing for Prema in Formula Two. I finished my first season with them in second, right behind Oscar Piastri, my second season I unfortunately didn't complete due to personal issues and an injury, and so I'm looking to use this season as a comeback to finally get my hands on an F2 win.
"I'm going to be mentored by Max Verstappen, which is... just really incredible." I feel heat rush to my cheeks and I let a giddy smile cross my face, "So yeah! Let's get on with the QnA?"
A man steps up so I can see him, and holds up a phone, he scrolls before landing on a question he likes,
"Can you explain your racing journey to us?"
"Oh! Yeah! So I started karting in Japan with my father when I was barely three, and started competing on my fifth birthday. I kept karting, I won, I lost, y'know, and got into rally racing for a few years when I was around ten to fourteen, then I went into Formula Four when I was fifteen, did half a season of F3, and then jumped to compete in Formula Two the last three years." I explain, having to pause a few times to think and make sure I'm getting my age right. Trying my best to keep my voice happy as I recount the time spent with my father, "Around the time I switched to Formula racing, I also moved in with my Mom, Hana Tanaka, in the United States and lived partially in England."
"Do you race for Japan or for the States?"
"I'm racing for Japan since I'm technically a citizen of Japan living on a work visa in the UK. I lived in Japan for years, my mother traveling back to the states a lot for work, and--uhm," I swallowed, glancing down at my left wrist briefly as my hand twitched and my pinkie struggled to close up in the fist I balled up, "I lived with my father there when my parents divorced, from when I was nine to thirteen."
"Do you have a favorite F1 driver who is racing right now?"
"If I say anyone other than Logan or Oscar they'll be very upset." I grin, kicking my feet a little, "They're basically my older brothers! They took me in when I started racing F2, since we all raced together, and I'm really proud of both of them and all their hard work."
After maybe ten or so more questions, the man leans back as someone whispers something to him and he nods, there's a bit of a shuffle and then I see a door open. I know it's Max who walks in even if I can only see his shadow behind the lights. I try to hide my giddy smile as the same woman from before steps in front of me and begins to announce Max and I are meeting for the first time. I take a deep breath, swallow my nerves, and plaster on the most professional smile I can muster. Max is much taller than I am, that much is obvious when he dips under a light to come in front of the camera and I stand immediately to greet him. I expect him to go for a handshake, but I'm pleasantly surprised with a hug. We take our respective seats, Max gives his little introduction to the camera, and then we're off.
"So this is a drawing challenge." We're both handed whiteboards and I grin, looking at Max who laughs and looks down at the whiteboard being set in his hands. I can see a little playful gleam in his eyes, something I've never caught before in the hundreds of photos and videos I've seen of him. It's intriguing but I don't have time to stare, and this is hardly the place to do so.
"You guys are about to be amazed at how much someone can suck at art." He says, uncapping his pen.
"You both have to try and draw each other in three minutes," She says, "and then there will be a poll on who won."
The timer goes off then and I prop the whiteboard up and begin drawing. I had doodled as a hobby, so I make it less realistic (because lord knows I can't do that) and make it more cutesy. I giggle at my drawing as I add a little flare to it and when times up, we flip them around. The crew audibly awes over mine and Max laughs, tilting it so he can see it past the glare of the lights.
"Oh my god, I need someone to save this so I can have it. This is genuinely the cutest thing anyone has ever drawn for me." He looks at it in awe and I laugh into the back of my hand as he takes the whiteboard from me and just looks at it.
"Proud dad moment," I grin, trying to hide my obvious giddy attitude at the fact that Max fucking Verstappen was praising my shitty art skills. He nods, holding it up and telling everyone to look, which only makes me blush and grin harder.
We move on from that a few moments later, we're asked to draw each others cars, then we play a few rounds of pictionary where Max fails horribly the whole time. By the end of it, I'm laughing teary eyed as I lean onto his chair for support--and he's pretty much in the same boat as me as we both struggle to catch our breaths.
"How the hell is this a cat?!" I wheeze out, pointing at the oddly long cat he's drawn with a much too big head and much too small legs, "don't you have two? Do you not know what they look like?!"
"I can't draw! It's the thing I can't do!" He leans back in his chair, struggling to catch his breath and I have to pause to dot under my eyes so my makeup doesn't run. After a while we catch our breath, and move into QnA.
Max asks me, from a Twitter tag we both idly scroll on our phones, "What are some of your favorites? Racers, colors, TV Shows, etc?"
I look up as he asks the question and a big grin splits across my lips as I proudly announce, "When it comes to F1, I'm one hundred percent a Vettel girl,"
"Really?" He says, and I start laughing as I nod to him, adjusting the way I'm sitting as I lean on the arm of the chair a bit and wave my phone as I speak,
"I grew up watching him and Lewis Hamilton winning, y'know, so it was always like--my dad would always reprimand me and say stuff like 'you should race risky like Hamilton' or 'go fast like Vettel' so they're kinda cemented into my brain as the like--top drivers."
"My dad was the same with some older drivers, always had to practice like I was the best of the best." Max nods, but waves for me to continue on with answering the ret of the question,
"NASCAR is huge in my family, my mom works for Red Bull's NASCAR team," I explain, looking to where I think my mom stands behind the camera, "So my favorite driver from there? I'd say Jimmie Johnson or Kyle Busch. I've met them both quite a few times, since they both raced with Red Bull, and Kyle is one of my sponsors for racing right now which is so kind of him to do."
I continue when Max doesn't have a comment, "Favorite color, blue." He agrees, "TV Shows..? Right now I'm binging Doctor Who--I'm on Matt Smith's doctor right now."
"Oh, which episode?"
"Uhm... I just finished The Almost People. So I think next is A Good Man Goes to War?" I turn and watch Max's face light up as he makes a soft gasping noise in the back of his throat.
"Oh you have to tell me how you like that episode. It's so good."
My eyes widen, "You've seen Doctor Who?"
"Kelly watches it all the time. When I started watching them with her she made us restart at The Ninth Doctor and watch from there, and then we went back and watched all the older episodes but her favorite is The Ninth Doctor so she made me start there. I think my favorite is him or The War Doctor."
"My favorite so far is the eleventh." I smile, kicking my feet a little once again and Max nods.
"A solid choice."
We run through another twenty minutes or so before signing off, and the energy in the room is light and almost electric as we begin to pack up. A phone call ends up with me slipping out into the hall as everyone mingles, my mom loudly laughing with Kelly and Geri as Christian brings Max over to introduce to my mother. I catch Max's eye fleetingly as I whisk around and slip out into the much quieter hall, pressing my phone to my ear.
"[Hello, Dad.]" I say into the phone, the ten missed calls from him already enough to make my blood icy and my hands shaken.
"[Why weren't you answering me? Am I not important?]" His voice is hard as it always is when he thinks I've wronged him. It makes my heart pound a little bit harder, makes me swallow, makes my hands twitch.
"[I was doing work with Red Bull, Dad. I wasn't with my phone, I'm sorry.]" I say into the phone, crossing one arm over my chest as I look out into the little track behind the building from the windows, walking up to lean against a pole that separates the panes of glass.
"[Oh, about that, you didn't want to tell me? Hm? That you even thought of signing up for that? You're going to waste the talent of a three time world champion on yourself? On the lack of talent you have? You couldn't even beat that Australian boy, now you expect Max Verstappen to want to help you?]" My fathers voice grows harsher, the insults digging deep into my chest and ripping at my confidence and my heart. I hear the door next to me open, but I can't even spare a glance as my fathers hateful tirade continues. I lose track of what he's saying, his voice louder, and when I don't respond he claims I'm 'losing my heritage' and switches to English to mock me. I feel someone behind me, eyes glancing up in the reflection to see Max leaning on the wall on the other side of the hallway.
"[Dad--]" I try, but he cuts me off with more ramblings.
"A waste of talent, a waste of that mans time!" He shouts, "You are nothing but--"
A hand comes to grab the phone, a thumb thats not mine pressing to end the call. I flinch at the touch, but it's warm, and when I look up Max just watches me before slipping my phone back into my hand and sighing. Nothing is said, he just turns and nods over his shoulder. Max moves like a ghost back to the doorway, eyes peeking over at me from under his hat and his voice carries down the hall to me.
"You're not wasting my time. I picked you."
And then he slips into the room where I can hear my mother replaying some story of my early racing days to someone, and I blink back the tears that well up with my shaky sigh. Then something hits me, eyes widening as I stare after Max's retreated form.
Max had picked me to be his mentee.
He picked me. Me.
And a giddy smile crosses my face before I can try and suppress it.

New Mate | Dominik Szoboszlai
Tumblr media
Pairing: Dominik Szoboszlai x Female Reader
Summary: In which Dominik joins the reader's friend group and the two spark up a connection even though the reader doesn't want to acknowledge it.
Word Count: 7.7k
Warnings: brief drunk Dom, halloween party, kiss, corn field
Note: I just love friend groups and this fic goes through them doing friendship fc stuff but mainly fluff with Dom and reader. Sorry, it is fairly PG. It's a bit long because this will probably be the only fic I write within the next few weeks/months. I also really really love Halloween.

“This is Dominik,” Trent introduces Dominik to the group. Trent, dressed in his dark red training outfit stands next to Dominik, who’s brown, disheveled hair drips from the raindrops despite having an umbrella sticking out of his backpack.
Jude smirks, holding out his hand for Dominik to shake. Dominik makes a show of wiping his hand across his grey sweats before greeting Jude.
“He’s the one who’s suspended from training for a week,” Trent says.
Jude’s jaw drops, “Mate! You didn’t have to tell him that.”
“Well he heard all about this ‘Jude’ person today in training and was confused on why you weren’t there.”
Dominik chuckles at the guys, before turning towards you, Reina, and Marie. His eyes dance around the three of you and then settle with a shy smile as he holds eye contact with you.
“Y/N, Reina, and Marie, in that order,” Trent says.
The three of you shake hands with him and then he sits down in the empty seat next to you, a bashful smile on his face as he listens to Trent and Jude bicker.
You turn towards Reina, who eyes him suspiciously, and say, “I bet he doesn’t last four weeks.”
Reina smirks, “How much?”
“A twenty.”
“Ohh, that confident?,” she joked.
“C’mon, when has someone new ever lasted that long with us? They always end up leaving.”
It was true, the group was formed when you all were nearly ten years old. You had known Trent after beating him in a race at school. You had met Reina the same year, finding out that you were neighbors shortly afterward. As for Jude and Marie, you met them while playing pick-up footy a year later. Five was already a crowd, let alone adding another, but individually you all were close. There would be days where you would only hang out with Jude, or Trent, or Marie alone or some combination of whoever could make it. You all studied together as well, took some classes together, and as of recently, moved in together.
Moving in together was something different. You had already lived with the girls but allowing Trent and Jude to move in was them metaphorically signing a lengthy pact that they would be good roommates—and because they begged on their knees for a week.
Reina leans in closer to you, “I’ll take the bet. Something about him tells me he’s here to stay. I don’t think Trent would have told us to be extra nice to him and introduce us to him so fast if not.”
You nod in agreement, the situations were different this time.
You glance down at your phone for the time, “Oof, I’ll see you guys later, I have to head to class.”
“You have class right now?” Dominik inquires, glancing up at you as you stand.
Nodding, you put on your rain jacket, “Yeah, it starts in about twenty minutes or so.”
“Oh I have class too, here let’s just walk together,” Dominik suggests and stands up.
Reina lets out a snort while Marie waves at the two of you. Jude and Trent bid their goodbyes as you wait for Dominik to sling his backpack over his shoulder. Walking out of the library and through the elevators is quiet, but comfortable nonetheless.
“I still don’t know my way around campus if I’m being honest,” Dominik chuckles.
“Do you know the name building? Maybe I can help,” you offer, deciding to listen to Reina’s pestering voice in your head.
“If you could just point me in the general direction,” he says nervously. “It’s called ‘Glass Hall.’”
“Oh that’s where I’m going.”
Perfect.
“Really?” Dominik excites. He places his hand on his chest and lets out an exhale, “That makes me feel a lot better actually.”
As the two of you near the library doors, he holds them open and then slips his umbrella out and opens it up. He tucks it between the two of you so you stay fairly close to him even though you have a rain jacket with a hoodie on. He’s already gone through the trouble.
“Didn’t think you knew how to work your umbrella after seeing you come in wet.”
He laughs loudly in your ear, “I was in a rush meeting Trent and thought I’d be okay just running a little bit, but no.”
You laugh with him, bumping into his shoulder every so often but neither of you make the motion to step aside. As you make your way around campus to Glass Hall, Dominik looks around, his head seemingly constant on a swivel as he takes in his new surroundings.
His eyes catch yours, a shy smile riddling his face, “I’m trying to remember. The boys only showed me the way to the fields and the main part of campus behind us.”
“You’ll get it down quickly, don’t worry. It’s like one of those things that once you know, you don’t have to think about it ever again.”
He nods, “Fast learner, hmm.”
Once you reach Glass Hall, Dominik folds his umbrella and shakes it. His eyes scrunch up at the building, “Thought there’d be more glass.”
You stifle a laugh, “No, definitely not. ‘Glass’ just happened to be their last name.”
He shakes his head with a smile, holding the door for you again, “Thank you for helping me get here.”
“Of course, I have to go use the restroom now, but the room numbers are pretty easy to find. Just follow the signs, we’re on the second floor right now.”
He nods, “Got it.”
Somehow, someway, you don’t expect Dominik to find the classroom after you. You took your time in the restroom, knowing you had some minutes to spare, so once you scouted the room and didn’t see Dominik—not that you were expecting him to be in the class—you thought you were fine. However, the moment you glance up at the double doors, he makes eye contact with you and you feel your cheeks raise in heat. He eyes the empty seat next you and immediately makes his way to it.
A childish chuckle erupts from him as he plops down, “I walked in circles.”
You fight off any annoyance you had towards him. It wasn’t that you didn’t want to get to know him, it was more so that you had yet to know him at all. You knew exactly how Jude or Trent were in the classroom, knew that you couldn’t sit next to Reina or else you would talk to her throughout the lecture, but there was nothing for Dominik.
You furrow your brows, “Did you get lost?”
“No, it just was too early to come in, the class from before was still in here.”
You nod, “Maybe I should’ve asked what room number you were in.”
He laughs, “It’s okay. It would’ve been a surprise either way.”
Somehow, class goes smoothly without much interruption. Dominik pays attention to the lecture, jots down his notes in a journal and steals any glance towards you that he can get.
“Do you want to grab coffee?” he asks on his way out of the class.
“No it’s okay, I think I’m going to head back to the house, I’m not sure yet.”
He nods, “Ah, well it was nice meeting you.”
“You too, Dominik.”
----
Four weeks later, he was still sending you bashful smiles and trying to get you to crack. You engaged in conversation and his jokes, but he sensed that you still had some kind of wall up. Your responses were never too personal or sometimes downright vague. He would still ask if you wanted to grab coffee or lunch before meeting up with the group after class but you respectfully declined each time. On the other hand, Dominik cringed at the amount of times you had rejected him in the past weeks. Especially when you showed up to the library with coffee in your hand alongside Trent just after saying you needed to save money.
The class you shared with Dominik met for two days out of the week and each day the two of you would walk together to the library or you would split off somewhere else. The group would already be there in the study room, their classes either finished or were going to start in the next hour.
But it being the fourth week of class also meant that the group was due for doing something fun to take off the stress of studying and being in the house together. It was Dominik’s first time out with the group where you all were finally going somewhere other than a restaurant.
Now, squished beside Dominik in the backseat of Reina’s car, you had to let whatever metaphorical wall you had down because half of your ass was planted against his thigh.
“Oh fuck off!” Jude curses loudly, swiping his arm towards Marie who sat in the passenger.
“Hit me one more time, Jude,” Marie turns around and threatens. You can feel Dominik’s thigh tense underneath you at her outburst. The two of them argued before but Marie was never this upset.
“What?” Jude taunted, “what are you going to do?”
Marie reaches over and grabs a piece of Jude’s skin, twisting it within her pinch. Jude squirms onto Trent, Trent then pushing him onto your side that you fall more onto Dominik. Your head bumps against his, while your hand reaches for his other thigh so that you don’t slam into the door.
“Alright, both of you, chill the fuck out,” you tap Marie’s hand off of Jude’s calf while he groans. He folds his arms across his chest. His elbow stabs into your side that you have to lean more onto Dominik, who’s been quiet the entire time.
“This is why we don’t go bowling,” Reina mutters.
“I’m taller than all of you yet I’m in the back,” Jude huffs.
“Shut the fuck up, Jude,” you and Marie say in unison. He rolls his eyes, grumbling underneath his breath.
Once you all arrive at the bowling alley, you trickle out of the car, taking Dominik’s hand as he holds it out for you.
“Thank you,” you say warmly and he nods, closing the door behind you. Marie comes around from the passenger seat and gives Jude a side-hug, Jude’s annoyance doesn’t waver and you chuckle.
“Is he going to be upset the entire time?” Dominik whispers.
You shake your head, “I promise by the time we walk through those doors he’ll be smiling.”
Dominik raises his eyebrows, amused with your confidence, “Yeah?”
You hold out your pinky, “They’re fine.”
He takes it, promising the meaningless bet. His face squirms from the sunlight beaming down onto him, “Good, Marie is terrifying.”
Upon entrance, Dominik holds the door for everyone and like clockwork, Jude and Trent laugh loudly at something Marie says. You give Dominik a wink, him smiling brightly from the back of the group.
The six of you divide into two groups, you teaming up with the girls while the boys team up. Throughout the night, Dominik seems to always be at arm's length near you, always standing or sitting beside you between turns.
Of course he played as if there was real money on the line, easily getting strikes and spares. Even when Marie tried to distract him on the line, he got the spare like it was nothing. Trent was the one who usually was good at bowling amongst the group, but he was a solid ten points behind Dominik now.
That also meant that the girls were losing terribly.
“He’s too good,” Trent shakes his head as Dominik hits another strike. The ball curled right into the center pin at the last second, knocking them all down immediately.
You blew out a raspberry, impressed, looking back at Trent, “How does it feel to get knocked down from the one thing you're good at?”
He laughs, “Shush.”
Dominik comes back and sits down in the seat next to you, letting out a small sigh. Trent’s facial expression is still wide with shock. Jude, up next, immediately sends the ball into the gutter, cursing loudly.
You snort, “That kid.”
“How has he only hit 15 pins this entire game?” Dominik laughs.
“Look look,” Trent leans over and points at Jude getting ready to take his second chance. He rolls the ball and it seems promising, until it takes a roll to the right and goes down the gutter—again.
The three of you burst into laughter, Jude’s huffing and puffing only exacerbating the laughs. You don’t realize your hand had wrapped around Dominik’s bicep to support your laugh until you let go. He doesn’t seem to be phased by it at all though.
“I’m done, I’m done,” Jude complains, sitting down. Reina gets up for her turn, ignoring Jude’s antics.
“Jude do you want to pick the restaurant then?” you suggest. Jude looks up at you from across the table and nods, taking out his phone and searching for places nearby. You almost felt bad that Jude was a sore loser, but he was good at other things and loved to boast about them, so emphasis on the almost.
With the girls losing by nearly 100 points as the final score, you shake hands with the boys, giving Jude a sympathetic hug.
“You are such a loser,” you whisper.
“We beat you though.”
“You got the least of points.”
“It’s a team sport, I just let the lads down.”
“God you are so dramatic,” you laugh and he breaks out of character, laughing with you. Midlaugh, you catch Dominik’s eye on the both of you, a faint smile on his lips as he stares.
“Good game, Jude.”
“You too.”
Jude ends up sitting in the passenger seat on the way to the restaurant because he ‘has to give Reina the instructions’ to the restaurant. Marie is on one side of you while you are still squished against Dominik. His arm is spread out around the seats. Trent is pressed against the window so you couldn’t complain much.
Jude characteristically picks a crowded restaurant that has a short wait time but you slither between the line to go use the restroom. The girls don’t come along, insisting you were good to go alone, but quickly realize you’d regret it fast.
“Hey,” the guy waiting next to the men’s restroom says. He’s a lot older, jet black hair with wide blue eyes. His rustic brown leather jacket reeks of sweat and grass.
“Hi.”
“How’s it going?”
“Um, good.”
“You’re really beautiful, you know?”
You purse your lips, “Thanks.” Whoever was inside the single girl’s restroom needed to hurry up.
“What’s your name?”
You give him a fake name, fighting the urge to roll your eyes. There’s a moment of silence before the men’s door opens, instead of him going inside, he stays still. Even though there’s music and the clatter of a busy restaurant in the background, it’s lethally quiet in the hallway. The second the man grabs his phone, a thumping feeling evades your stomach. You swallow hard, hands beginning to pool with sweat as you imagine trying to defend yourself.
“Oh, hey!” There’s a chirpy voice coming towards you, Dominik. You can’t help but to gulp as you look up at him, although his smile doesn’t waver. He wraps his hands around your head, pulling you into his chest, “I’ve missed you, babe.” He says it loudly for the guy to hear and you don’t hesitate wrapping your arms around him, realizing what he was doing.
The women’s restroom door opens and she walks out, the guy still not moving. After a couple of seconds, the guy finally leaves and Dominik pulls away.
“Are you okay?” His hands are reluctant to let go, scanning your face it seems for every and any expression.
“How did you know?”
“I was watching you.” He says it as if it was a casual fact, as if it wasn’t a big deal. You were used to the boys being protective but this felt different, none of them had noticed this time except Dominik. “Do you still need to use the restroom?”
“Yeah,” you let go of him and he nods.
“I’ll be right here.”
“Thank you, Dom.”
He nods, “No problem, édesem.”
Your cheeks burn as you close the restroom door, certainly not understanding his last word or even recognizing its spelling so you can’t search it up. You’d have to ask him later on what it meant, but for now you were going to ignore the creepy guy and enjoy your time with the group.
The rest of the dining goes without a problem for you and the group, you sitting next to Trent while Dominik sits across from you. The table is so small that you can feel Dominik’s knees bump into you from time to time but you pay no attention to it. He would send you small smiles throughout dinner, asking you what you were gonna get, and engage in conversation.
He was kind, much different than any other guy you had been introduced to by the boys or met in class. After the small debacle with the guy by the restroom, you realized just how far Dominik was willing to go to care for the group—or how far he had already gone. At one point, you had walked into the study room and he was shirtless as Trent and Marie used him to practice placing electrodes around his chest. Or when he stayed with Jude until the night to help him with his math homework. During the dinner nights that Dominik would join, he would help clean the kitchen afterward without having to be told, immediately helping whoever was cleaning.
“There’s a pumpkin patch!” Marie exclaims from the backseat as you all make your way back to the house. “You have to stop Reina, look, it's still open!”
“A corn maze,” Jude hums, “you know I’ve always seen those in the movies but I’ve never been.”
“It’s quite dark,” Trent murmurs.
“Makes it all better,” Dominik chimes. His low voice is right next to your ear and it sends goosebumps down your spine because you don’t expect to hear him at all. “Corn mazes in the dark—oof. Perfect.”
“See, Dom, that is some death wish type of stuff,” Reina shakes her head.
“You don’t like scary things?”
“No!” Reina pulls over anyway, intrigued with the twinkling orange lights. The area was still well-lit with people lingering around despite the night sky in full effect.
“Do you like scary movies?” Dominik whispers, tapping your shoulder.
You face towards him, your response at the tip of your tongue but it halts at his eyes. They’re set on your lips, a small smile plastered on his face as he looks up at you. He leans his head against the space between the window and headrest, that small smile turning smug.
“N-No,” you admit, cheeks going hot under his gaze. You slowly turn your head towards the front, trying to shake off his stare but to no avail.
Arriving at the pumpkin patch, you and the girls immediately head towards the pumpkins, searching through the smaller ones for the perfect one. You watch as some younger kids knock on a couple of them and then place them to their ears. Dominik chuckles, doing the same and sending one of them a goofy smile as he catches her stare.
“It sounds perfect.”
“How do you know?”
He shrugs, “I trust myself.”
“Ohh,” you gawk while he raises his eyebrows up as he bluffs. You laugh, pushing against his arm, glancing at the girls who had two smaller pumpkins at their sides. You keep on walking around the sections of the pumpkins, scanning them and holding them, before finally settling on one. As you search for the group, you notice Dominik is the only one waiting for you some steps away.
He nods to the start of the corn maze, “Come on.”
“They all went into it?”
“Yeah, it’s not long, I think.”
“Not long if you don’t get lost,” you grumble. It looked a little spooky, especially with the glow of the lights dimming the further you stepped into it. The soothing incandescent lights were replaced with fewer fluorescent ones.
Dominik smirks, adjusting the grip on his pumpkin, “It’s not scary. Little kids are going into it.”
“They also jump off playgrounds without caring.”
He chuckles, pushing you gently along.
“I can just wait out here.”
“Come on, édesem, then you never have to do anything.”
You hug the pumpkin a little tighter and step further into the maze. The leaves of the corn slap alongside your body as you and Dominik make your way through it, so far there were no scary pop ups.
“So bowling?” you say, trying to get rid of the eerie quietness. “How did you get so good at it?”
Dominik holds up some leaves so you can get through it, “We played it a lot at my old school. Me and my teammates. We had bowling lanes at our school too, and it was small, so they were always empty.”
“Oh so you’ve had a lot of practice?” you were shivering, trying to hold onto this pumpkin without making it obvious that the growing darkness was making you a little more scared. The corn crops were nearly Dominik’s height, and so looking up at the sky seemed so vastful when you only had a sliver of space to do so.
He chuckles, “I have. We competed a lot and I don’t like losing.” You laugh, it’s so strained that he sends you a look, “You okay?”
“It’s just a little scary.”
“There are signs! It would’ve been scary if we had none and we got lost in here,” he jabbered.
“We still can,” you turn towards the sign beside you just to make sure that you were going in the right direction. “They’re hanging by a piece of tape, what if it falls off? Or a kid rips them off—Dom?” Dominik’s presence beside you had suddenly disappeared. You hadn’t even felt him walk away or heard him squeeze into the crops. His body heat had still ghosted the skin of your arm.
“Okay, Dom, very funny,” you groan, spinning around in place. You knew he couldn’t have gone far. “I’m scared, you got me, now come out.”
Seconds in silence went by, and what seemed to scare you more was knowing that Dominik could see you but you couldn’t see him. The thought of other people lurking in the crops being able to do the same crept across you that you shuddered.
“Seriously Dominik,” you mumbled. “I’m getting scared okay, it’s not funny.”
You let out a groan of frustration, rubbing your temples with one hand. The light starting to flicker didn’t help, you looked up at it immediately.
Great.
“Dom—”
As you turned towards the path, you smashed into Dominik’s chest, recognizing his skull and bones necklace before you shut your eyes closed. You shriek and let go of the pumpkin in the process, him catching it midfall. His laugh fills your ears but you can feel your heart damn near beating out of your chest. You hadn’t heard yourself scream that scared in so long that you hit his arm.
“Jesus!”
“Okay, I won’t do that again.”
“You are such an ass!” you say through shielded eyes. His hand is resting against your back as he pushes you into the direction of the exit. Your heartbeat doesn’t calm down until you both stumble out, finally getting rid of the weight of the fear across your back.
Dominik still wears an arrogant smug as the two of you head towards the paying booth for the pumpkins. You pull out your wallet, glancing at your last twenty, “Oh darn, I was going to use that last twenty for Reina.” You shrug, taking it out.
“I can pay for them,” Dominik suggests.
“No it’s okay.”
“We can call it even, me scaring you in the corn maze and I pay for your pumpkin,” he says. “Really, it’s fine.”
“Okay,” you concede, slipping the twenty back into your wallet. As the two of you stand next in line, you search for the rest of the group, seeing only Jude, Marie, and Reina in a section. Trent had to be somewhere close by but you weren’t worried, just glad that they weren’t lost in the corn maze.
Dominik turns towards you after he’s done paying, “What were you giving Reina money for?”
“Oh, this dumb bet,” you chuckle, “I lost.”
“Yeah?” he muses. “What was it?”
You bite onto your lip, seeing his lopsided smile and glowing eyes. The tip of his nose had a barely-there red tinge to it from the cold. His hair combed over and gelled in a neat manner and his beard trimmed. He looked content. Content with walking around with you and being in the group over all.
Realizing he had been waiting for an answer, you let out a cough, “Reina and I bet you wouldn’t last four weeks with us.”
He laughs, “Why is that?”
“Because no one ever does, I guess they get intimidated because we are all so close to each other that they feel like they don’t belong.”
He nods, already knowing much of the friends’ history, “I can understand that. And you lost?” He stops in his tracks, his eyebrows furrowing as his smile slowly fades, “If you lost that means—that would mean you had to bet that I wasn’t going to last? Right? Because it’s been nearly a month.”
“Yeah, and you are still here standing strong—”
“But you didn’t think I’d be here.”
“Well, yeah because—”
“Wait wait wait, when exactly was this bet made?”
Dominik’s demeanor seems reluctant to hear the answer to the question that he already knows. Obviously it was early on, four weeks ago to be exact.
You bite onto your cheek, “The first day we met.”
His face scrunches as if he’s been let down—because in a way he has. He shifts his pumpkin to the other side of his hip, running his fingers through his hair not caring that he messed it up.
“So this whole time, it’s why you’ve been so superficial, why only you in the group have been so—just not wanting to hang out with me. Almost avoiding me. Rejecting anything I offer and being hesitant to say yes. You’ve been trying to push me out this entire time for a twenty?”
“No, Dom,” you say the moment he stops. You swallow the lump in your throat, not realizing what you had been doing that the entire time. Disgusted with the way he’s grossly misunderstood the situation, you try to reason with him. “That’s not what happened. It was a dumb bet, meaningless. It didn’t mean anything. You’ve fit into this group like you’ve known us our whole life.”
He shakes his head, licking his lips as he lets out a shaky sigh, “I fit in with everyone except you. You’ve always given me a hard time.”
“By not accepting coffee?”
“By not giving me anything. Everything I know about you is from either watching you or what the group tells me. I ask you where you work and you’re like: ‘Oh, it’s nearby.’ You never give me anything to grasp,” he pinches his fingers together. “I had to ask Trent when your birthday was because you said: ‘Not near.’ What was I supposed to do with that?” The laugh he lets out is almost bitter, absolutely gobsmacked with all the cues that he missed, only realizing them now. “If you didn’t like me, you could’ve just said that. I wouldn’t have taken offense.”
“Dom, that’s not true. I do like you, you’re a great guy and have been nothing but nice to my friends and I.”
“Where do you work then?”
“On campus, I’m a tutor.”
His eyes are riddled with hurt and skepticism. So skeptical that it tugs at your heartstrings because you know he doesn’t believe you. His tongue makes a noise against his teeth as he pulls out his wallet. He pulls out cash, “Here’s the twenty for Reina.” He doesn’t wait for you to grab it, shoves it into your hand so you have to hold it or else it'll fall onto the grass.
“Dominik.”
He shakes his head, “I thought I had finally found a group of friends besides my teammates, Y/N. Maybe the reason no one gets close to you all is because you’re betting against them to lose the entire time.”
The gnawing feeling from your chest travels to your throat, causing you to let out a cough. The feeling of betraying him made you feel so bad, like you had committed a crime. Hell, you might as well have after looking at the realization dawn onto him. His eyes were far from the tender and shy ones you met on the first day.
The car ride back to his apartment was quiet on your side. Dominik doesn’t say a word or laugh the entire time, and once you get to his place, he murmurs his goodbye’s to the group and goes inside.
----
“I thought Dominik was coming?” Jude says to Trent as he enters the kitchen. It had been two weeks since the pumpkin patch and Dominik hadn’t shown up to the library at all. He was either skipping class or found a new seat because he wasn’t sitting next to you either. However, he made it to training and his games without a problem so he was still around somewhere.
Trent shrugs, “He said he was taking care of his roommate. Roommate is hungover.”
Jude cringed, “Ouch.”
Reina bumps into your shoulder on the couch, “Have you got your outfit for tomorrow?” Tomorrow was Dominik’s Halloween party, even though you felt like shit, you had to go in order to talk to him. Hopefully your presence wouldn’t ruin the mood. Dominik had invited the group very early on, knowing that it would just be his teammates and their partners that would be there.
“Of course,” you smile. “Finally got Barbie’s pink hat yesterday.”
“Good!” Reina exclaims.
The two of you talk some more, the boys and Marie joining in on the couch to watch a movie. Even though Dominik had been with you and the group for such a short time, his missing presence was more noticeable the longer he was away. The spot on the couch that everyone designated for him, hadn’t been touched or occupied since his last visit. It started to get sad staring at it being empty.
----
Dominik’s party seemed to be a lot more boisterous than what you were expecting. The players were loudly singing along to the music in the background, their costumes coming undone throughout the night as they partied. The party wasn’t at Dominik’s apartment because having a party in his apartment would’ve most likely gotten shut down immediately. Instead, it was at one of his teammate’s with Dominik’s car parked out in the front.
Dominik dressed up as a cowboy with a brown felt hat and brown boots. Dark jeans with a large belt buckle, white and gray long sleeve shirt that stopped at his forearms. His hair wasn’t gelled as it peaked out of the hat; he looked handsome in his well-thought outfit. He was talking to his friend when you all walked in, his eyes meeting yours and skimming your outfit. Despite him letting his eyes linger on yours, he never smiled or waved. You had to look away eventually, grimacing, waiting until the group went up to greet him. That was the only time you were able to mumble out a greeting as he bent down to give you a hug.
It wasn’t until an hour in that you went upstairs to go use the restroom and found Dominik in the hallway waiting for you. He pointed to a bedroom and let you walk in first.
“Hey,” he says. The lamp next to the door casts a shadow on his eyelashes that makes his eyes look blown and vulnerable.
“Hey,” you purse your lips. “Are you sure we can be in here?”
“It’s Harvey’s room, we told him to lock his doors,” Dominik’s arms are crossed behind him near the door knob but you can hear the small sound of the door locking before he releases his hands.
Dominik’s eyes still hold a dubious flicker in them as he looks at you, waiting for you to say something. He leans against Harvey’s desk.
“Dominik, I'm sorry about all of that. Firstly, it was only me. The group had nothing to do with the bet, they didn’t know about it at all except Reina but she was on your side the entire time. I was just,” you let out a small sigh, “the longer we stayed in contact, I started to realize that you were probably going to last more than a month and that you were a great guy. I didn’t want to be wrong, that me getting close to you was for no reason. I have nothing to hide, really, I’m just not used to opening up to people that much because I’ve known them my entire life. There is nothing to open up with them.”
Dominik nods, shuffling his hands alongside his belt buckle and pockets. His eyes don’t leave yours. The light makes them appear softer, and you can’t tell if he believes you or not because of it.
“I’m sorry for hurting you. It was selfish, very selfish. I should’ve thought about how that would’ve affected you if you were to find out before taking on the bet.”
“It’s okay, I—um—I believe you,” he says. “It just made me really confused because the boys, Jude and Trent, they talk about you a lot when you’re not around, and it was like the things they said weren’t adding up to the version I was with. But then I would see you interact with the others and it was like, that is you. I like who you are when you’re with the group, and I know it will take some time for you to see me as part of one of you guys because of the history, but I really wish you did. It shows sometimes, but…not a lot.”
You almost want to cry at his words, you have to blink rapidly to chase away the tears because they were near. Dominik simpers and you have to fan yourself, “I promised I wouldn’t cry in this makeup that Reina took forever putting on me.” Dominik only laughs as you turn away from him, it being the only way you can stop whatever is happening. “I do see you a part of the group, which is weird to say because I’ve never seen someone else like that, but you not eating dinner with us yesterday like you usually do on Friday’s, really made me miss you.”
Dominik steps forward with a smile the moment the first tear falls.
“Stop laughing, I feel like shit!”
His hat bumps into your’s that he takes both of them off and places them onto Harvey’s bed, “You should, well not anymore because I forgive you. I missed the group and you.”
He gently wipes away the tear that you missed and dries it onto his jeans, not caring if the makeup will potentially stain his jeans or not. “I’m so sorry, Dom.”
“Shh, it’s okay. I know I said I wanted to see the real you but your crying hurts my heart a little,” he says, his accent growing stronger with each word. “The tears keep coming, gah.”
You laugh throughout the tears because he’s being very sweet and gentle with you, even though you shouldn’t be the one receiving the consoling. It should be him that’s more upset but he doesn’t have a hint of anger in him at all. He’s been more focused on you even before you started crying, he was all eyes on you even when you weren’t looking at him.
“Barbie did have a crying scene, you know, so this is fitting.”
Dominik’s face contorts up with confusion, his hand resting on your shoulder as he thinks.
“You didn’t watch Barbie?”
“No.”
“You monster!”
He cheeses, “You aren’t crying anymore.” He throws a fist bump.
“No, because I can’t believe you didn’t watch that movie.”
“Maybe we can watch it together,” he suggests.
“We will,” you say without hesitation. Wiping away the last tears with force, he stifles a chuckle. His messy hat hair and cheeky smile, it made your cheeks warm up.
“Are you okay?” he asks.
You nod, “Are you?”
“Of course,” he wraps his arms around your shoulders and pulls you into a hug. He kisses your forehead and then tucks his head further down into you. He was a great hugger, making you sigh in content as you held onto his strong back.
Once you release, he grabs the hats and places his on top of your head. You’re too engrossed with the way his eyes seem delicate but focused to do such a simple task that you don’t notice the brown brim until he puts on your pink one.
“Hey!”
“We look good,” he says, pointing to the mirror that’s focused behind you. You turn around, his eyes beaming into yours once you find him. “I really like your outfit, the pink, it’s nice.”
“I like yours too,” you say as you turn back towards him. His Adam's apple bobs as he swallows down, his lips parting slightly.
“What do you like about it?” He tilts up the brim of your—his—hat up so that he could see your eyes.
Caught off guard with the question, you glance down at his outfit, feeling his gaze follow your downcast. “I like the belt buckle, and the boots.” You let out a nervous laugh, it stopping immediately once his finger finds your chin, picking your head up to look up at him. You can’t make out the glint of his eyes but it’s intoxicating, drawing you in.
“Édesem,” he repeats. His finger trails to the side of your neck, resting it alongside there while his thumb ghostly traces against your jaw.
The nickname snaps you out of your daze, grounding you to your surroundings, “I still have no idea what that means.” Even though you were still, the urge to pull him closer was strong. It was intoxicating! Luring you in as if you had no morals. His lips and eyes were all you stared at.
His teeth break out through his smile, “It’s Hungarian.”
“I assumed,” you said, your hands finding his hips. Your touch seems to catch him off guard, his mouth eliciting a small gasp as you pinch the material of his shirt between your fingertips.
“Sweetheart, it means sweetheart.”
You can’t help but to break out in a smile, “This whole time you’ve been calling me ‘sweetheart,’ I bet you got a kick from that, hmm? Me not knowing?”
He laughs, throwing his head back, “I’m trying to kiss you right now and you’re ruining it.”
“Then kiss me goddammit,” you urge, gripping onto the sides of his shirts. He chuckles, tilting your head up a little more before kissing you. It’s soft at first, but then his belt buckle hits you near your stomach and you scowl. You block his bulging belt buckle with one hand and he groans, feeling the added pressure down his pants. He laughs within the kiss, pulling away and kissing your cheek before releasing you. Your hands remain tight on his shirt, and he sends you a mischievous glance.
“I told Harvey we were just going to talk.”
“We’re talking,” you say.
He raises his eyebrows, “You’re trouble, édesem.”
“No way,” you let go of his shirt, brushing off the wrinkles and sending him a wink. He shakes his head, bending down to kiss you one last time before unlocking the door and getting out before anything else can happen.

“Someone has to take Dominik’s car home, preferably with Dom,” Trent says, holding a drunk Dominik underneath his arm. Dominik clearly hadn’t thought through how his car would get out of here. It would be towed before morning if they didn’t move it, and they were the only lingering ones left from the party, “I’m not all that sober and it’s manual.”
“Like any of us know how to drive manual!” Reina groans. But you did know, having learned how to drive manual some time ago.
“I can do it.”
“Yeah?” Trent raises his eyebrows.
You nod, “Yeah, I got him.” You open Dominik’s car door and help him get inside.
“Just take him to the house,” Trent suggests and you nod, knowing damn well you weren’t about to drive all the way to Dominik’s apartment.
Both of your hats are underneath your arm as you get into the car. Dominik’s holding his head, trying to soothe the impounding headache that’s about to come.
You look towards him after putting the hats in the backseat, “Seatbelt?”
“The car is spinning,” he spurs your name, groaning. You reach up to grab the seatbelt across from him and buckle it for him. He dramatically looks up at you, “You smell good.”
“Thank you, Dom,” you roll your eyes. You adjust the seat and drive to the house. Dominik is fairly quiet for the ride, closing his eyes and nodding off. Trent and the rest of the group should arrive shortly after you.
Dominik leans onto you as the two of you enter the house, him immediately going to the toilet and throwing up, “God I haven’t been this drunk in years. I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright, you can go to sleep here.”
“Can I shower?” The buttons of his shirt are undone, his chest peeking out from underneath. Sweat brimmed around his hairline, making a few pieces stick to his face.
You nod, “Yeah you can. I can find a set of Trent’s clothes for you, I think you both are the same size.”
As you enter the hallway, you can hear the clatter of the rest of them entering from downstairs. You get a set of clothes from Trent and take them up to Dominik, who’s mindlessly staring around in your bedroom.
“You creep,” you mumble.
That goofy smile he wears, you wanted to smack his face for being so handsome even when he was drunk.
“Thank you,” he murmurs, kissing your cheek and then going into your restroom and showering. You take that time to change out of your outfit and grab an extra blanket and pillow for Dominik to use on the couch.
Once he finishes showering, he steps out of the restroom, the shirt slinged over shoulder while he towels off his wet hair. It’s a battle keeping your eyes leveled with his, especially when his teasing smile only adds more flame to the fire.
“You have a nice room,” he says.
“Thanks,” you smile. He sits down on the bed and the moment he starts to lean down you shake your head, “No, no, you are not sleeping on my bed.”
He chuckles, “I’m just laying, resting my head!”
“Dominik, if you sleep—”
“I won’t.” He glances at the wall of pictures you have with the group, he fixes the one that’s crooked, before looking back at you, “I can’t wait to be up there.”
“I have my camera if you want to,” you point to the polaroid sitting on the bottom of your nightstand.
His curious eyes follow you and then look up towards you, “Yeah? I don’t have a shirt on.” His arms suddenly cover up his chest as if he were getting cold.
“We can take one tomorrow or another time if—”
He shakes his head, “It’s alright. Go for it.”
You point the camera in his direction, him cheesing widely and then you hand the photo to him as he waits for it to develop. You take that moment to freshen up in the restroom. You couldn’t have taken more than ten minutes, but that’s enough time for Dominik to have slumped over and fallen asleep. Low, rhythmic snores come out of his nose while his legs hang off the side of the bed. The polaroid is pinched tight between his fingertips.
You groan, accepting that he would be sleeping on your bed. Swinging his legs onto the bed is enough to make him stir but not wake up. Once you get situated on the other end, you turn off the lights and he flips over, his words are a slurred mess as he says: “I missed you, édesem.”
The next morning, Dominik wakes up before you. He looks at you confused, double checking that the rest of his clothes were on and then lets out a loud sigh, waking you up.
“Sorry,” he says meekly, “I got scared.”
“Of what?”
“That we—”
“Ugh,” you groan, throwing a smaller pillow at his shoulder. He laughs, and then immediately clutches his head as he falls back down onto the pillow. “There’s some medicine on the nightstand and water.”
It was still too early for you to wake up, especially with the way the rain pattered against the window. Your room was freezing but not underneath the blankets. You flipped over and faced the wall, closing your eyes while you listened to Dominik stir around. He got up and went to go use the restroom, coming back wearing a gray hoodie of yours.
“It fits,” he cheeses. A small smile creeps onto your lips, he looked so happy. A little goofy with his ruffled hair but handsome. You turn over as Dominik slips back underneath the covers. “Can I?”
You nod and he pulls you closer to him, letting his legs tangle with yours. He kisses your cheek and neck slowly, feeling you squirm underneath him with each ghost of a kiss. The palms of his hands sneak underneath the hem of your shirt and rest on your lower back. They’re so cold but they’re a nice contrast against your searing skin. He lets out a small hum as he closes his eyes, sleeping with you.
