On 6th March 756, St Baldred, or Balfred, the hermit monk of the Bass Rock, died.
His name has many different spellings, also the year of his death differs somewhat around the net, anything from 608 AD to 756, his feast date however is always quoted as March 6th.
Baldred seems to have come from Lindisfarne in Northumbria to spread Christianity to the Lothians. He founded a Monastery at Tyninghame and choose a life of seclusion.
He lived in a cell on the Bass Rock antis said died there and legend has it three communities vied for the right to bury him, Auldhame, Tyninghame and Prestonkirk. The story goes that after a night of prayer, three identical bodies were found, each wrapped in its winding sheet ready for burial. This was probably a later invention intended to explain why three local churches established shrines to Saint Baldred.
There are several tributes to St Baldred in the area, including St Baldred’s Cave at Seacliff Beach, which is said to be where he slept after coming ashore.

I'm not a religious person, myself, but I'd like to share a piece I am working on for a family member, regardless. I've struggled with whether or not to share this one as I tend to believe that the people who follow this man do more harm than good to others, but I am proud of my progress here. I have been fairly distracted by daily life these days, but I imagine the piece should be done within a month or so. :) A few next steps I plan to take include taking in the bridge of the nose just a bit and extending the inner corner of the eye presented on the right side of this photo, perhaps lengthening the beard a smidge (undecided), and of course getting to work on the eyes, hair, and throat. I may deepen the color of the lower lip with a glazing pass, as well.
--------------------------------------
Edit 07.10.23: Another update on weekend yeezus progress (third photo). Definitely going to be changing some things about that hair, I think. Eyes will be next. Nearly had a meltdown over the throat shadow (which I have come to like for the most part but may tweak just a bit). Welcome to art! 😂 I do wish that I had access to my full scope of supplies at present though, as this is a painting that would be much better suited with some glazing. ESPECIALLY for that throat shadow. But alas, I am making do with the supplies that I have.

Billy Graham was a significant figure in American religious history. Here are five facts about him:
Global Evangelist: Billy Graham was one of the most prominent Christian evangelists of the 20th century, known for his powerful preaching and ability to reach large audiences worldwide. He held numerous crusades in countries around the globe, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and many others.
Adviser to Presidents: Graham served as a spiritual adviser to several U.S. presidents, offering them counsel and prayer. He was particularly close to Presidents Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Richard Nixon. His influence extended beyond religious matters to political and social issues.
Founder of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA): In 1950, Graham founded the BGEA, an organization dedicated to spreading the Christian message through various means, including crusades, television, radio, and publications. The BGEA continues to operate today, promoting evangelism and discipleship worldwide.
Author and Speaker: Graham authored numerous books on Christian living, faith, and spirituality. His writings reached millions of readers globally and continue to inspire people with his message of hope and salvation. Additionally, he was a sought-after speaker at conferences, universities, and churches, where he shared his insights on Christianity and contemporary issues.
Interfaith Bridge Builder: While firmly rooted in his Christian beliefs, Graham was known for his efforts to foster dialogue and understanding between different religious groups. He met with leaders from various faith traditions, including Judaism, Islam, and Buddhism, to promote peace and cooperation. Despite theological differences, he emphasized the importance of mutual respect and cooperation for the greater good.

Buying a stainless steel kadaa online is an interesting thing to explore, especially when you are familiar with what a Kadaa represents. A kadaa is a metal bracelet worn by men in India. It is a piece of religious jewellery and was originally worn to honor a religious figure. Sikhs wear Kadaa as an expression of their faith. Stainless steel mens kadaa comes in different designs and can be bought online. Below are three things to know before wearing a Stainless Steel Kadaa.

1st April 1245 saw the death in Scrabster Castle of Gilbert de Moravia Bishop of Caithness and the man who founded Dornoch Cathedral.
Gilbert de Moravia was the son of Muiredach, who in turn was son of Alexander de Moravia. The names suggest a noble family with roots in Moray, and it is thought that Gilbert was a cousin of William de Moravia, who became 1st Earl of Sutherland in 1230. Having chosen to pursue a career in the church, Gilbert spent a number of years serving as the archdeacon of the Bishopric of Moray. He was appointed to the position of Bishop of Caithness in 1222 by King Alexander II of Scotland.
As much as the Church had power back in the god fearing Medieval times the job of Bishop had it's risks. Gilbert's predecessor, Adam of Melrose, had been killed at his residence in Halkirk by farmers angry at a doubling in the episcopal tax levied on agricultural production, and Adam's predecessor had himself had his eyes and tongue removed by Harald Maddadsson, Earl of Orkney and Mormaer of Caithness, ironically for resisting increases of taxation on the peasantry.
Gilbert de Moravia owned estates in and around what is now Dornoch, and it was felt that it would be safer for him to move the seat of the diocese south. Gilbert therefore commissioned (and paid for) a Cathedral Church in Dornoch, as well as residences for ten canons. Gilbert himself was based at Skibo Castle, while spending some of his time in the more turbulent north at Scrabster Castle. His successors as bishop would establish a palace in Dornoch that has since evolved into Dornoch Castle.
Gilbert died at Scrabster Castle on 1st April 1245, and has since been said to have been "one of the noblest and wisest ecclesiastics the medieval church produced." He was buried at Dornoch, and his relics lay there until the wanton destruction during the Reformation.
Gilbert was the last pre-Reformation Scotsman to be canonised, and his achievement in erecting a building of the size and stature of Dornoch Cathedral in such a remote corner of the Scottish Highlands in the 13th century is truly remarkable.

Dc x dp idea: time travel yaaaay
Danny, Sam and Tucker get back from fixing some errors in the time line in France just before the French Revolution.
And sure Danny got mistaken for a French aristocrat that had died the day before they got there but it wasn’t to bad, it only made their jobs easier. It won’t be a problem for them.
Meanwhile Constantine, Batman and whoever the fuck else (imma say Hal, I love that green bitch) are exploring an abandoned manor in France after there being reports of strange, violent activity, and with their latest teammate Phantom not picking up their calls Constantine had to pull these two with him instead.
“Hey guys, Phantom’s a ghost, right?”
Hal sounds hesitant as Constantine replies
“Yes, why?”
“I think I found a picture of him living.”
and there on the wall is a picture of a long dead french aristocrat, with black hair and blue eyes but every other detail the same as Phantom’s
There on the wall sits a photo of Daniel Nightingale, a teenager who was possessed by a demon and killed two servants, then himself.

I want a story where the angels didn't fall, they jumped. they clipped their own wings, knowing their Master wouldn't have a use or a need for them once they were damaged and less-than-holy. they could not defeat the Tyrant who exerted absolute control over their lives, so they abandoned heaven their homeland in exchange for independence, accepting exile as its own form of freedom. and hell is just the place where all unwanted things are sent--be they angels or souls who just will not obey.

idk if someone else has mentioned this but whatever: in the scene where Ballister and Ambrosius are at the bar and The Director is being live-streamed and claimed that the video was fake, she said something like “the monster can come after us, and could be anyone: your spouse, children, or even the person next to you’’ and that TOTALLY REMINDED ME of conservative “Christian” bigots trying to scare people into believing that queer people are “dangerous” and “grooming your children”

As the seasons change, I want to take a moment to wish you all the best. It's a time of renewal, growth, and new beginnings, and I hope that this year brings you all the joy and happiness you deserve.
It's the time of year where our thoughts turn to the teachings of one of the most important historical and religous figures in human history.
We can recognise that whilst he can still be a controversial figure, whilst also acknowledging the impact he continues to have, so many years after he came to live among us.
I hope that you have a wonderful day of celebration on this March 10, Mario Day. May your red shells always fly true, and the blue shells targeting you only catch up after you've crossed the finish line.
