Ok, it is unacceptable of me that it took me SO long to post this. I kept forgetting about it! Shame on me. Anyway, this is NOT my art! This is a commission I had done for me a while back by the very talented artist Remarin. I got her permission to post it over here because it's amazing and I want to show it off :D
The only social media I know of for Remarin is her Deviantart account (which is where I follow her), so here's that: https://www.deviantart.com/remarin

Finally got this character painted!
This is my SSO oc who I headcanon to be a Pandorian horse. Those were hinted at in the Starshine Legacy series. Might do a full-fledged headcanon post of those later.
I based this character on the tellina horse and a character concept I adopted years back.
Adopted character from:
Remarin, Deviantart

Hi! I was curious about your study methods for anatomy/fabric folds? What are some resources you learned from, and other artists you've looked to for inspiration/guidance? Would you be open to doing personal, non-public critiques? I love the composition of your pieces and want to learn more!
hi uhhh i am very sorry to break it to you but i rarely ever do studies that isnt just. character/facial structure studies LMAOOO i used to do anatomy studies but not as much anymore and ive never done fabric fold studies. unless you count "staring at ppl respectfully on the train/video game characters from AAA games for a long time just to figure out how certain things work" as studies i dont actually do a lot of them very often.
Tumblr media
^ an example of facial studies ive done awhile ago of my two favorite capcom guys. i took one screenshot of them each and painted them. it helps a lot to get better at drawing them (and faces in general) bc i have to be aware of what makes them look like them; the shapes of their faces, eyes, noses, mouth, eyebrows etc etc. while realism isnt really everyone's cup of tea, it isnt mine's either, but this genuinely helps a lot. it should work with other stuff like anatomy and fabric folds. i recommend trying figure sketching too if that's something you can manage.
as for resources... i dont look at a lot of those if im being honest. i just kinda look at drawing tutorials i see on twitter or here, whenever ppl put them on my tl/dashboard. but i do suggest looking at this person's profile (@/MangaMaterials2 on twitter) if you have the time, they make a lot of anatomy tutorials. i also watch this person's speedpaints (@/remarin on youtube) very often. i actually learned my shading style from watching them, and they're also very good at anatomy.
for non-public critiques, im sorry but i cant help you with that. im very busy myself and during weekdays im not home with my drawing tablet for most of the day, and that makes it very difficult for me to help anyone with critiques. im also not that good at explaining things, especially when it comes to how i draw (because i just. kinda know how to do things subconsciously? i dont actively think abt what im doing when i draw so i dont know how to describe my process). you're better off finding someone who's better at teaching :')
thank you for your kind words!! hopefully these are helpful to you!

I’ve been wondering, what has been your inspiration[s] for your art? Because your art just pops each time I see it! It’s really lovely and it’s pretty inspiring ^ ^
Hello! Thank you for the ask, it is greatly appreciated and I'm happy to hear that my art is found to be inspiring! To answer your question:
Most of what I draw inspiration from is Fantasy media, DnD being a big one. Games like Lobotomy Corporation, Lethal Company, Subnautica, The Isle, Monster Hunter, and Pillars of Eternity, are some other things that I draw inspiration from with what I create. From how the story is set to how creatures are designed.
Most of it largely goes back to the Natural World, Fantasy, Dinosaurs, and Dragons specifically.
Art style wise, I've had quite a few artists I've admired over the years, and a specific thing I have in mind that I'm going for. A mix between realism and cartoon, with more lean on the realistic side.
Most of the artists I admire are back from when I was on deviantart primarily years ago: chill13, remarin, apofiss, grimmla, demonml, tamaytka, and teagangavet
Others that are more recent are from here on tumbler: Min Play, neytirix, maxx-doodles, monoflaxart, and beautysnake
There are of course many, many, many more inspiration sources but it all has been things collected over the years that I don't remember where exactly from anymore unfortunately. Plus, it would make this post a little too longer than it already is.
This took a minute to answer. I won't lie, I haven't really thought about this before, at least not in depth. Most of what I do with my inspirations is I study them and how they are constructed so that I can use bits and pieces in my own work.
I hope that this answered the question though!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! IM SO HAPPY YOU LIKE MY ART!
Also, I have no idea how I art. I do however recommend you watch Ethan Becker, Remarin, Tamaytka, oh and also bluebiscuits! Ethan Beckers videos are really good. His humor might not be your thing but he gives great advice.
I also recommend just finding artists you like and studying their work! It's fun and you can also learn how that person draws!

Heyo! Just showing this commission I did for a friend some time ago. I really enjoyed the thumbnailing process particularly, since I got a lot of inspiration from Remarin for most of the design. What do you think?

12, 19, 21?
12. Easiest part of body to draw
honestly i find it pretty easy to draw the torso area? probably because i don't tend to draw it in a lot of detail but still :)
19. Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)
KNIVES I LOVE DRAWING KNIVES!! theyre simple and the metal texture is sooo fun to shade i have a great time with it Eventually i'll get around to drawing more detailed weapons im just lazy
21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways
I'm a big fan of Remarin's work! It's very dynamic and the way they get so much detail is insaaaaane. PLUS THEIR ANATOMY UGHGHH i go so crazy whenever they make a new piece
I also adore Myth Keeper's art, the lineart is insane and the rendering hello??? the composition???
