when he just has to be controversial
The sun was beaming, colourful rays reflecting over your book through the stained-glass windows of the Gryffindor common room as you lounged on the sofa with your head in Lily’s lap. You were barely paying attention to the chatter of your friends around you, choosing to focus on your copy of ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ and Marlene’s soft guitar playing. The lazy afternoon is a welcome break from the increasingly stressful N.E.W.T lessons that have had you all so exhausted, you’re not sure if Peter is asleep or dead from his curled-up position on the rug.
You don’t even realise someone is saying your name until Marlene tickles the sole of your socked foot with her guitar pick, making you yelp and draw your legs in from where they were previously tucked in between Marlene and her guitar.
“What was that for?” you grumble, nudging her arm with your foot.
Marlene smirks, nodding over to James. “He told me to get your attention. Didn’t specify how.”
You roll your eyes and turn on your side to face the boy in question, his grin unfaltering as he multitasks polishing the handle of his broomstick and talking to you. “Not my fault you’re dead to the world when you’re reading,” he says, matter-of-fact, continuing when you raise your eyebrows in impatience. “I was just wondering how you could look so interested in that book. Remus said he’d do my homework for a month if I finished it the other day and I couldn’t get past five arse-numbingly dull pages.”
You scoff, adjusting your position again to face Remus as well. “And why was Remus betting you to read my book, exactly?”
“It was my copy,” Remus replies, scribbling away on his parchment, cross legged on his chair, to undoubtedly finish the Potions essay that Slughorn had set yesterday. You’re transfixed on the way his hand is moving across the page for a second, unable to fathom how someone can have such messy handwriting. You aren’t surprised in the slightest that the next words coming out of his mouth are ones you disagree with. “I wanted to see how long he lasted reading the slowest-paced book in the world.”
You abruptly sit up at this, shutting your book and forgetting plans of relaxation.
“Hey, watch it!” Lily exclaims, lifting the bottle of black polish she’s using to paint Sirius’ nails from its balanced position on her thigh to avoid you spilling it all over her white top. “If you’re about to argue, please refrain from throwing things until after I’ve done the second coat of nail polish.”
You pointedly ignore this and narrow your eyes at Remus who, infuriatingly, still hasn’t lifted his head from his essay. “I’m surprised you found it hard to read such a slow book. Thought that’d be perfect for you.”
“Look what you’ve started, Prongs,” Sirius sighs, examining his nails.
Seeing the corners of Remus’ lips pull up into a slight smile at your comment just spurs you on in defence of the book you were previously enjoying. “Besides, it’s about a real-life teenager with real-life struggles, not The Hobbit on his latest adventure.”
“Who’s Hobbit?” James mumbles, scratching his head in confusion as Marlene just shrugs, equally oblivious.
“It’s overrated,” Remus insists, finally setting down his quill to look at you. The amused expression still hasn’t left his face and you make a noise halfway between a scoff and a high-pitched squeal of indignance. “Even James agrees.”
“Oh, and James’ opinion on literature is the standard now?” You raise a brow, tutting when James starts to protest. “The only book James has finished in the last six years was Quidditch Through the Ages.”
The way James slowly slides the aforementioned book under one of the sofa cushions doesn’t go unnoticed by anyone. Sirius starts snickering, much to Lily’s annoyance as she tries to control his hand. “She got you there, in fairness, mate.”
Sirius’ chortling seems to stir Peter from his sleep and he opens one eye to peer at you. Seeming to catch sight of your irritated expression, he frowns. “Are these two arguing like an old married couple again?”
“Merlin help us if these two ever decide to get married,” Marlene utters under her breath, bent over her guitar and avoiding the weight of your glare.
“Yeah, he wishes,” you grumble, shuffling around on the sofa to get back into a comfortable position with your book. Remus’ smile has only widened in response and he seems to enjoy your discomfort as you overcompensate for showing your annoyance by wriggling about.
“I dream about it every night,” Remus replies, dryly and Peter giggles below you before turning over to sleep again.
You overcompensate a little too much by moving around, because Lily huffs from beside you and starts scrambling around for a tissue. “What did I say about the second coat?”
“I didn’t throw anything this time!”

2. when he won’t let you give someone a black eye
Defence Against the Dark Arts is your favourite N.E.W.T subject for a lot of reasons. You enjoy the lesson content, it’ll be useful in future years, and it’s the one lesson you share with every single one of your friends.
You’ve gotten used to James and Sirius messing around while Professor Marigold recites fact after fact about spells and creatures and wizards of dark nature. Its like soothing background noise to you and your classmates who all concentrate in silence most of the time.
Which is why your quill stops on your page and leaves a growing ink blot when you hear snickering and whispers from the other side of the classroom rather than from in front of you where the marauders sit in a line.
The scoffs of disgust coming from Snape and Mulciber are loud enough to attract the attention of the rest of the students and even the teacher, who eventually sets down her piece of chalk in the middle of talking about Wolfsbane potion with an impatient sigh.
“Is there some sort of pressing issue that can’t wait until after class to discuss, boys?” Professor Marigold asks with a tone of ire that would impress Professor McGonagall. “Even Black and Potter have decided to give it a rest today.”
She’s not wrong, you think, noting how they’ve been less disruptive than usual for this lesson, probably tired out from setting each other’s robes on fire in Charms the hour before.
“The pressing issue is werewolves,” Snape mutters quietly, as though he doesn’t want to make a big issue but can’t stop himself from speaking up. “We should be learning more about how to kill them and less about the price of potion ingredients.”
Lily gasps from beside you and Sirius and James tense up at his words. Remus doesn’t lift his head, but you absently notice how his grip tightens around his quill when Peter nervously turns to him. Peter isn’t one for conflict and he’s always been nervous around this particular group of Slytherins, so you’re not surprised he’s anxious.
“Werewolves are still people, you can’t just go around killing them!” you find your mouth moving on its own, before your brain can catch up. When Snape turns to direct his scowl at you, its matched by your own as well as Lily’s disappointed frown. “They didn’t ask to be werewolves, they physically can’t help it! How would you feel if people wanted to kill you for not being able to control being such an arse.”
“Miss Y/L/N,” Professor Marigold warns, setting her stern eyes on you. You’re not one for disrupting lessons or getting into trouble, so when Remus turns around to look at you with a raised eyebrow, your cheeks start to warm and you stubbornly don’t look his way again.
Snape ignores her to continue glaring at you. “I don’t have the capacity to kill people in a feral rage now, do I?” His gaze flits from you to Lily and Marlene and then lingers on the boys. “Of course, you’re defending werewolves. It’s no surprise considering who you choose to associate yourself with.”
“Mr Snape.”
“You have no need to fly into a feral rage to kill people,” you reply, voice steadily rising in volume. Sirius and James turn their heads back and forth like they’re watching a tennis match and you know the only reason they haven’t piped up to agree with you is because they’re too entertained watching the way you’re about to jump out of your seat to pounce on Snape. “All you need to do is show someone your face for them to die of fright–”
“ENOUGH!” Professor Marigold’s booming voice cuts through the laughter of everyone on the Gryffindor side of the classroom and when you turn to look at her, you see even Remus’ shoulders are shaking with silent laughter. You’re not sure why this pleases you, but it doesn’t last long enough for you to figure it out before Marigold waves her wand in the direction of the door and sends it flying open. “Both of you will wait for me outside the classroom until the lesson has finished so I can discuss your appalling behaviour.”
You gape at her for a second, before relenting and grabbing your bag, not wanting to argue with her authority. Your friends have different ideas.
“That’s not fair!” Marlene exclaims, standing up in protest. “She didn’t even do anything wrong.”
“Yeah,” James agrees, also standing up. “Snape’s the one who was being an annoying pri–”
“Sit down, everyone,” Marigold cuts him off, pursing her lips. “Everyone except Mr Snape and Miss Y/L/N. Do not even think about speaking Mr Black, or I won’t hesitate to suspend your and Mr Potter’s Quidditch privileges until further notice.”
Sirius shuts his mouth after a nudge from James and you shoot your friends a grateful smile before making your way out of the classroom, followed closely by Snape.
The door shuts behind him and you don’t bother sparing him a glance before dumping your bag on the ground and leaning against a wall to focus your gaze on a suit of armour for the next five minutes. You’re about half a minute in when you notice that one of the hands are slightly wonky and the classroom door suddenly opens.
Remus, of all people, enters the hallway to join the two of you and quickly shuts the door.
“What are you doing here?” you ask, furrowing your brows and getting up from against the wall.
“Yeah, what are you doing here?” Snape sneers at him, and you give him a scathing look before turning to Remus for an answer.
Remus pointedly ignores him to stand next to you against the brick wall. “I just pointed out to Professor Marigold that you both have your wands and she may not have two students left out here by the end of the lesson.”
“I can defend myself,” you snort, folding your arms. You aren’t sure if you’re annoyed that Remus is insinuating otherwise, or if you’re touched that he doesn’t want you to be hexed into oblivion by Snape. “Especially from him.”
“Oh, I know,” Remus raises both hands in surrender as his tone becomes grave. “It’s not you I’m worried about, trouble.”
“Ha ha,” you deadpan, rolling your eyes at the nickname. He started it around a year ago when you got your first ever detention for helping Sirius and James Charm the Slytherin chairs to throw them off every time someone sat. Your friends had kept quiet about your involvement, but Peeves had spotted you, the nosy bastard. The nickname stemmed from the fact it was the first time you had ever gotten into trouble and it never failed to irritate you. “You better be careful I don’t hex you.”
“I wouldn’t dream of annoying you,” he says, but the serious tone of voice is ruined by the way his lips are twitching in an attempt not to laugh at you. “After what happened when I said I didn’t like that one Jane Austen book? Forget it.”
“Hey, you insulted one of my favourite characters,” you point out, resting a hand on your hip. “What did Emma ever do to you? You had that hex coming.”
“I had pink hair for a week,” Remus narrows his eyes at you, but you can tell he isn’t really angry. Although he refuses to admit it, you know for a fact he didn’t hate the pink hair considering how good he looked with it. An annoying indiscretion on your part. Remus looks behind you for a split second before leaning in a little to whisper. “I won’t get in the way if you want to turn Snape’s hair pink, though. Preferably a very bright shade of flaming, hot pink.”
At risk of your own cheeks flaming up from how close he is – really, what’s the need? – you shake your head let your hair fall into your face. Almost having forgotten Snape is also there, you start when he scoffs (for what you think is the millionth time this afternoon) and you sigh before facing him begrudgingly. “What now?”
“Couldn’t handle the content of today’s lesson?” he asks, tiling his head. You’re about to ask him what the hell he’s talking about before you realise, he isn’t actually talking to you, but to the boy behind you.
“Uh…” you trail off, not sure how to respond. All three of you currently standing in the corridor know that Remus is smart enough to tackle any type of content, especially something as memorable and interesting as werewolves.
Remus’ amused demeanour has been wiped away and you can’t determine his exact expression, but his voice is cold when he talks to you. “Just ignore him.”
“You and your group of friends can’t help themselves when it comes to defending strays and all sorts,” Snape continues, much to your confusion. “It’s not enough that you’re a group full of blood-traitors and mudbloods…”
Remus tenses up behind you and you find yourself frozen for a second.
The next thing you know, you’re lunging at the greasy-haired Slytherin with every intention of hurting his face with your fists, wand long forgotten. Your fingers barely brush his robes, however, when you feel yourself being hauled back by strong arms that wrap around your middle.
“Let go!” you snarl, enjoying the way Snape has backed away, eyes wide and worried. “Did you hear what he said? Remus, let me go.”
He doesn’t relent, still holding onto you when he leans down to speak in your ear. “You’ve already gotten into trouble. You’ll get into a whole lot more when everyone walks out to see Snape with a black eye and you with bruised knuckles.”
“Worth it,” you grit out, still pulling away from his grip and throwing daggers with your eyes at Snape. After a few more seconds of pointless struggling, you relax very slightly just to turn in his arms so you can direct your next words to him more pointedly. “Not only is he a slimy, blood-supremacist twat, but he also wants to kill a poor bunch of werewolves. We should be throwing him into the bloody Black Lake!”
“I know, I-” Remus is cut off when the door opens and students start flooding into the corridor to provide a barrier between you and Snape, indicating the end of the lesson. Remus finally lets you go when he realises you’re in direct view of Professor Marigold who stands behind her desk, waiting for you. “I had no idea you were such an advocate for werewolves.”
It’s the last thing you expected him to say and you immediately look up at him and frown. “Again, they’re people. They don’t deserve to be victims of prejudice just as no one does.” He doesn’t respond, staring at you with an unreadable expression and a hint of a smile. Your frown deepens in confusion. Was he… laughing at you? Especially after you had just gotten along. “I’m so glad you find me amusing,” you say, scowling and storming back into the classroom and away from Remus.

3. when he's too good for flower crowns.
“Tell it again,” James insists, grin wide as ever plastered onto his face despite the withering look you send his way. “Getting a glimpse at even the possibility of Snivellus getting pummelled by Y/N would have made my entire year.”
“The galleons I’d give up to have been there,” Sirius releases a wistful sigh, closing his eyes as he lies down, facing the sun.
You hand him the daisy chain crown you just finished and he dutifully dons it. “I’ll alert the Ministry of Magic to order in a time-turner for an issue of utmost urgency,” you say sarcastically as you start on the next daisy chain. Sirius merely winks at you.
“I think you should’ve let her have at him, Remus,” Marlene states, unapologetic. You nod vehemently in agreement, a little too enthusiastically as you end up splitting a daisy down the middle.
Lily tuts, adjusting her own flower crown as it slips against her silky red hair. “I’m glad you didn’t. Godric knows what Professor Marigold would have done,” she shudders at the thought, ever the diligent student.
“Forget Marigold,” Peter chimes in. “Imagine what Professor McGonagall would have done.”
You don’t miss how he looks over his shoulder in case your head of house is taking a stroll along the grassy grounds.
“She would have combusted when you called him an ugly arse,” Remus pipes in, unhelpfully might you add, from where he sits slightly away from the group under a tree, reading.
The comment sends Marlene, Sirius and Peter into a fit of laughter – James is too busy staring at the way the sun is making Lily look ethereal and she’s too busy pretending not to notice while being secretly pleased. Doing a quick survey of your friends, you see everyone now has a flower crown except Remus. You make your way to the tree he’s resting against while the others chat, and sit yourself down with purpose.
Remus lowers his book very slightly to peer at you and your too-sweet smile. He raises a sceptical brow. “Should I be scared right now?”
You drop the fake smile and hold up your flower crown expectantly. “Everyone has one, but you.”
“How observant,” he says, setting his book down to look at you in mock astonishment. “Have the Aurors at the Ministry caught wind of you yet?”
“Don’t be a pain,” you groan, dropping it onto his open book. “I want everyone to wear one for the picture!”
Remus sighs, looking at the large camera over by your bag. You had saved up all summer to buy a magical camera to be able to take pictures of you and your friends in your final year at Hogwarts. The time you used your own muggle camera was a disaster of sparks and broken bits of plastic that took hours to mend. “I already agreed to your incessant picture-taking,” he reminds you, acting like it’s the most painful thing in the world. “The flower crown is not happening.”
“Fine, you miserable git,” you flick a handful of grass at him, sending him sputtering. “Now come and sit for the photo.”
You return to the group with Remus behind you and get everyone in position before hunting down someone to take the photo. Glancing around, you spot a close bunch of first-years and send Lily to use her Head Girl credentials (and warm and inviting personality, of course) to rope one of them into coming over.
“Okay, smile everyone,” you order, plopping down on the grass next to James. You elbow him in the ribs, not even having to look at him to know what he’s doing. “Stop looking at Lily and look at the camera.”
With a couple of mutterings and some nudging, the nervous first-year Hufflepuff girl shakily takes the picture and hurriedly hands you the camera in the middle of the picture sliding out of it. James and Sirius go back to playing with a golden Snitch while Peter watches, while Remus returns to his book.
Lily looks at the picture and coos over how cute everyone looks at the same time as Marlene complaining about her hair. You impatiently take the picture back to slide it into your photo album and something catches your eye.
Sirius is making a peace sign behind Remus’ head. His head that wears a flower crown.

4. when he bleeds out on you.
You’re not sure what time it is – either very late at night, or very early in the morning. You do know, however, that you want to finish your Herbology essay so you can enjoy tomorrow (or today) and cheer your friends on in the Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw Quidditch game. You only have the conclusion left and you’re confident it’ll be done in the next ten minutes.
If you can find your damned quill, that is. You could have sworn you had it ten minutes ago, just before you snuck down to the kitchens to persuade the house-elves to give you the strongest cup of coffee they could make. You take a quick sip and grimace at the lukewarm temperature before setting it down and getting up to search. After turning every sofa cushion upside down, you go to crouch behind the sofa.
You hear the door to the common room being swung open and the hushed voices of the Marauders enter, but you don’t take too much notice as you squint for your quill. It isn’t unusual for the boys to be roaming around the castle at odd hours of the night, but a hiss of pain grabs your attention at the same time you spot the quill.
“Can you guys manage taking him up to the-” Sirius cuts himself off when your face pops up from behind the sofa. He freezes in his efforts to hold up Remus, who you notice is leaning on him and James and Merlin’s balls he’s covered in blood.
“What the fuck happened to him?” Your voice comes out weak as you walk over to the boys. Remus has deep, bleeding slashes over his chest and an assortment of little cuts on his face and hands. He seems barely able to keep his eyes open but when his gaze meets yours, he winces. He isn’t the only one hurt and you realise Sirius’ arm is damp with blood and trembling, the same going for James’ thigh. “What the fuck happened to all of you, oh my God…?”
“Peter, you were supposed to keep watch,” James hisses at the boy who looks like a deer in headlights. He looks a lot better than the others, with only a couple of small cuts scattered around his face and arms.
“She was behind the sofa!”
James’ leg buckles and you snap out of your state of shock to dart forward and keep him steady. “Right. Shit, okay,” you breathe out, holding off asking any questions to prevent anyone from bleeding out. “James, Sirius, set Remus down on the sofa and take off his shirt. Peter, help these two up the stairs and go find a first-aid kit or something.”
“We’ve got a couple in the dorm,” Sirius says, summoning one of them down with a quick Accio and handing it to you. He hesitates for a second, probably unsure if he should stay and explain things, before deciding to turn in the direction of the stairs with James as Peter rushes to help them up. “Look after him, please. We’ll be right back, Moony.”
“Take your time, I’ve got him,” you utter, already fiddling with the first-aid box and trying to open it with shaky hands. You’re no healer, but you know enough to panic when you see Remus has had his eyes closed for the last few seconds. “Remus, keep your eyes open!”
He groans, cracking one eye open to look at you. “I’m injured and bleeding out and you still manage to yell at me.”
“I wasn’t yelling,” you frown, unscrewing the bottle of dittany and scrambling for the cotton pads. You try to avoid Remus’ gaze because you feel extremely silly about being more panicked than him when he’s the one with claw marks down his chest. “Don’t move, or it’ll hurt.”
While dabbing the liquid onto the deep gashes in an attempt to close them up, you ponder on the fact that he probably knows it hurts from experience. You’re not completely clueless.
“What are you thinking?” Remus whispers in the stifling quiet of the common room, looking unsure.
You don’t cease in your movements, changing cotton pad after cotton pad. It takes you a minute to muster up the courage to meet Remus’ gaze again and this time he looks more nervous than you’ve ever seen him. “You’re a werewolf, aren’t you?”
Remus gives you an almost imperceptible nod, like he doesn’t want to admit to it. You take a deep breath.
“Who else knows?” you ask calmly, as if you’re asking him about the weather.
“The boys and Lily,” he admits, swallowing hard. “Oh, and Snape.”
“Snape?” you exclaim, halting your dabbing to gawp at Remus. “I’m not saying you had to tell me or anything, but Snape?”
Remus winces and you don’t think it has anything to do with his injuries. “In my defence he found out on his own and hates me for it,” he rushes out. “And it’s not that I didn’t want to tell you… I-”
“It’s fine,” you cut him off, waving him off and wondering how good you’re hiding the fact you’re a little hurt. “You didn’t have to tell me.”
“No, I wanted to. I did,” Remus insists, looking earnest. There’s something in his voice that’s a little pained and desperate that has you meeting his eyes. “I just couldn’t have dealt with it if you started looking at me differently. The boys and Lily sometimes do, y’know? Like I’m made of glass or something. It’s refreshing whenever you scowl at me or call me an idiot or an arse or a stupid gi-”
“Okay,” you stop him, stifling a grin. “I get it!”
Remus’ eyes flash with relief for a second before you notice doubt start to creep in again. “You don’t need to hide it, by the way. I won’t hold it against you if… If you’re scared or disgusted, or-”
“What?” you cut him off again and scrunch your nose in confusion. “I’m not scared or disgusted. Why would you think that?”
“You’ve been a bit too calm,” he points out.
Rolling your eyes, you grab a bandage to start patching up the worst of the injuries before you move onto the minor cuts and bruises. “I didn’t want you to think I was freaking out, or looking at you differently,” you quote his own words to him with a pointed look, making him smile again. “I don’t, you know. Think of you any differently, I mean.”
His expression is unreadable as he just looks at you and you just look at him, bandage hovering over his chest before his fingers come up to brush the back of your hand. He lightly holds your hand, softly running his thumb over your knuckle as his voice drops to a whisper again. “Thank you.”
You offer him a gentle smile, holding his gaze for a second longer before focusing on bandaging him up again. His hand drops to the side and you oddly find yourself missing his warmth. The large bandage adheres to his skin and you run your fingers along the sides to stick them down, feeling him shudder under your touch.
You quickly busy yourself with looking for more supplies in the kit to hide the way your own breathing has increased slightly. “Hey, anyway, I almost walloped Snape right in the eye for you. If that wasn’t any indication of my standing on werewolves, I don’t know what is.”
“Ah, my knight in shining armour,” Remus chuckles before breaking into a wheeze as the muscles of his injured abdomen contract. “Fuck, don’t make me laugh.”
“Don’t laugh at me then!”

5. when you’re definitely not jealous… you’re not!
Three cups of coffee. You’re on three cups of coffee. It’s also the same number of hours you’ve slept and by Godric can you feel it in every inch of your body as the muted chatter of the Great Hall buzzes around you. Your head is in your hands as you contemplate stealing some Polyjuice potion and bribing a first-year to take a dose with your hair in it so you can go to bed and they can pretend to watch the Quidditch match.
You knock back the last sip of coffee when you sense a presence sliding onto the bench in front of you. Groggily setting the cup down, you see that its Remus. It takes a second to remember why this is concerning.
“Morning, h- Wait, what the hell are you doing out of bed?” you hiss, leaning forward to avoid anyone listening in. You scan your eyes over his chest, two seconds away from ripping his shirt off to check his bandages. “How are you even standing?”
“Relax, Florence Nightingale,” Remus says, rolling his eyes at your dramatics. He does his own quick sweep of the table and sees that most people are out in the Quidditch stands already, so he proceeds to pull the neckline of his shirt down slightly to reveal an already fading scar. No bleeding in sight. “I went to Madame Pomfrey with the boys this morning and she hurried up the process like she usually does. I feel achier than a 90-year-old woman with a metal hip, but the brunt of it is gone and Pads and Prongs are good as new.”
“Okay,” you say slowly, narrowing your eyes slightly. “If you’re sure you can sit out in the stands…”
“I can once I’ve consumed every cup of tea on the premises,” he says, reaching for the teapot. An annoyingly smug smirk starts to appear on his face while he pours. “What, are you worried about me, trouble?”
You scowl instantly. “No, I just don’t want you collapsing on me in the Quidditch stands while I’m cheering the boys on.”
“Right.” He hides his grin behind his cup of tea.
“Hey,” you mumble, nodding to Patricia Holloway who looks like she’s making a beeline to your table. More specifically, towards Remus. “Bright and cheery Hufflepuff incoming.”
“Merlin, it’s too early for this,” Remus whispers, taking another sip of tea before his face breaks out into a charming smile directed at the girl who slides into the empty seat next to him. “Morning, Patricia.”
“You look good today, Remus,” Patricia rests her elbow on the table and tilts her head to look at him with simpering eyes. It’s no secret Remus is good-looking and you’ve heard a million girls talk about him before. You’ve never seen any of them approach him yourself, though. You can’t say you enjoy it. “Are you… okay, Y/N?”
You didn’t realise you were scowling until she addresses you and you rapidly smooth out your expression, clearing your throat. Remus looks amused, which makes it harder to keep the scowl off your face. “Fine! I’m fine, just a bit confused since Remus looks half asleep,” you attempt a laugh through gritted teeth and are spurred on when Remus is actively trying to fight a grin. “And his hair currently makes him look like he’s been dragged through the Forbidden Forest.”
He can’t stop himself snorting at that, but Patricia just looks confused as though unsure how to react. She settles on a nervous little laugh, turning back to him. “I can fix that for you, here,” she says, scooting closer and starts to run her hands through Remus’ hair. You poke your cheek with your tongue, marvelling at how bold she’s being and how Remus is just sat there, still looking amused as ever. “There, what do you think?”
“A hairbrush couldn’t have done a better job,” you deadpan, softening your expression slightly when Patricia begins to look a little disconcerted. “You keep doing that, I’m going to head off to the Quidditch field.”
You all but storm out of the Great Hall, exhaustion having left you completely. It’s replaced by a newfound whirl of irritation that pools in your stomach and creeps up your throat, making you feel a little sick. It must be the coffee, you think, and you’re trying to remember if the beverage has ever made you experience this when all of a sudden there’s a hand circling your wrist.
“Stop, Y/N,” Remus says, a little breathless. You didn’t realise he’d run out after you and you feel bad about his injuries before your gaze snags on his newly tousled hair. “Godric, you walk fast.”
“I didn’t ask you to catch up to me,” you snap, purposely scowling this time. The cheeky bastard still looks amused and your irritation is growing faster than ever. “Besides, the match doesn’t start for another fifteen minutes. Plenty of time for Patricia to give you a whole new hairdo. Maybe she can give you plaits or– Why are you laughing.”
“You’re jealous,” he exhales with a smile, sounding positively delighted. Any feelings of concern have disappeared and are being rapidly replaced with wanting to thwack him upside the head. “Oh my God, you really are jealous.”
“Jealous, my arse,” you scoff, turning your back to him with every intention of speed walking out of the castle. His long legs keep up with you easily and he rushes in front of you to stop you going anywhere. You glare at him. “Leave me alone, Lupin.”
“Not until you admit that you’re jealous.” Remus is positively giddy with glee and you feel a flush of heat crawling up your neck. You set your jaw stubbornly and he’s incredulous as he shakes his head. “Merlin, you really have to argue with me on everything don’t you? I don’t care about Patricia Holloway and I’m glad you’re jealous. Means you’re less likely to break my nose when I kiss you.”
You barely get the chance to make an incoherent noise when Remus grabs you by the waist and presses his lips against yours, kissing you like he isn’t prepared to let you go anytime soon. His mouth slides hot and wet against your own and you gasp into the kiss when he nips lightly at your lip, your hands coming up to slide into his hair, making it unruly all over again.
Remus is the first to break apart, too soon, and you physically restrain yourself from chasing after his lips. He pulls back slightly, breathing fast to look into your eyes, searching for the answer you’re unable to speak yet.
“You… uh, I-I’m…” you trail off, dazed and breathless and head swirling with every emotion under the sun.
Remus laughs, pulling you impossibly close and leaving a soft kiss on your jaw, which doesn’t help your current speech issues. “If I knew that was all it took to shut you up, I’d have kissed you years ago.”
“Wha-!” You slap his arm, snapping out of the haze. You hide your current uncertainty behind a glare. It hit you like a ton of bricks, but you realised about five seconds into the kiss that you wanted Remus Lupin in every way, shape and form. You’re more than a little terrified, so what better defence mechanism than anger? “Why did you actually kiss me, you prick?”
“You are the densest, most clueless,” Remus begins, pausing to kiss you lightly a couple times when you start to scowl. “Most stubborn and most beautiful little witch I’ve ever known. And if you haven’t figured out after almost seven years that I love you, then I’m afraid we might have to admit you to St Mungo’s, because really-”
“Stop,” you whisper, lifting a finger to press against his lips, effectively silencing him. “You love me? You actually, seriously love me?”
He rolls his eyes and nods, like it’s obvious or something. You huff. “Then why have you been such an annoying pain in my bloody arse, Remus Lupin?!”
“Because,” he says, the word coming out muffled and you hastily remove your finger. “It was a good way to keep your attention. Plus, I like when you’re angry. It’s cute.”
You scowl without thinking and his smile impossibly widens.
“See?”
“Shut up and kiss me again,” you say dryly, pulling him in by the collar to give him a short, searing kiss. “Oh, and I guess I love you too.”
“So, no broken noses in my future?” Remus asks hopefully, softly sliding his nose against yours.
“No promises.”

Remus Lupin - My Love
Tumblr media
Pairing : Remus Lupin x (she/her) Reader Word Count : 0.2k Warning : Mentions of injuries. Synopsis : A drabble of Remus hearing her mumble "My Love" in her sleep. Remus feels like he's just swallowed a thousand nails when his eyes flutter open. He should've gone used after thousands of transformations in his life, but waking up has never been an easy task for him. Every ache in his body amplifies, and the scars littering his body start to hurt the moment his senses were brought back to life. Each transformation seems to be harder than the previous.
He was about to reach for the glass of water when he felt the pressure on his hand. He looks down to see her. Head only supported by her folded arms while her hand holds onto his tightly. There's no doubt that she would wake up with a sore back from the awful position she was sleeping in, but the peaceful look on her face made it hard for him to try and wake her up. She, too, must feel tired from the full moon tonight.
"It's okay, Remus," She unconsciously mutters, sleep talking to herself "I'm here."
A smile crept up to his face. His heart swells with warmth from the nonsense she just said. He knew that it probably meant nothing, that she wouldn't even remember saying anything when she woke up later, but it still pleased him to know that even in her dreams, she's still taking care of him.
"I know, Love," His calloused thumb strokes the back of her hand "I know you're here. You're always here."
She lets out a small giggle, "I love it when you call me Love."
"I know you do," Remus says with an even wider grin "You shall hear it for the rest of your life, my Love."

it wasn’t implied? | remus lupin

"i saw you," sirius said lowly, smirking, "you two think you're so sly but i see everything."
"i don't know what you're talking about."
"sure, you don't," he remarked with a roll of his eyes, "you never know what i'm talking about, not when i told you that your crush on remus was obvious, not when i tell you that remus fancies you back and definitely not when i saw —with my very own two eyes— you kissing."
"just be careful doll, i've been there before," he told her softly, making her glance at him. "you've been there before?" she repeated testingly, not understanding what sirius meant. "i was once remus when i was younger."

"where should we go next?" peter asked excitedly, holding onto the teddy sirius had won for him for dear life.
it was a hogsmeade weekend, the marauders had decided that it was a bright idea to sneak off to an amusement park. the sun was setting, a pretty mix of pink and blues with hint of gold within it. they stood in the middle of the park, pulling at their coat tightly to keep themselves warm whilst james suffered in a corner.
"definitely not the roller coaster again," said lily wearily, eyeing james from where she stood as he hunched over a garbage can with remus and sirius to his side. "anything but the roller coaster again."
"i'm pretty sure they're done with it," she said kindly, watching as remus rubbed james' back in a soothing manner, "we've been on it four times now, i don't think they'd like to go on it for any longer."
"hopefully, you're right," lily muttered under her breath as the group of boys returned.
james looked up, smiling charmingly. "what's next?"
"i wanted to go on the ferris wheel," said sirius off-handedly, his hands digging into his pocket to keep itself away from the cold, "the sunset's nice."
"okay," lily agreed; nodding her head as she approached james' side, lily looped her arm around his and began leading the way when she realized that two of their friends were missing. turning around, lily spotted the pair conversing between themselves. "guys?"
"yes?" remus looked up, finally noticing that their friends were ten steps away and blushed. "sorry."
lily only smiled, giving him a pointed look and glanced down slightly. "is she cold?"
"very," she answered, voice muffled as her head was pressed against remus' torso, holding onto him tightly. "remus is very warm."
"of course, he is. the man's a human furnace," sirius said, almost frowning, "now, c'mon i want to see prongs throw up again."
"that's disgusting," she whispered just loud enough for remus to hear, moving her head slightly to look up at him.
"it's pads, what'd you expect?" he asked in return, smiling fondly at her.
she scrunched her nose in disgust, accidentally picturing james going through hell once more at sirius expense. "less suffering for the man who's already legally blind?"
remus laughed at that, making sirius groan even more. "would you stop flirting please?" sirius whined dramatically, "seriously princess, are we going to get an apology here?"
pulling away from remus completely, she stood besides him and assessed their friends.
"sorry, i made you wait because i was cold," she started slowly, feeling as though she was a kid waking up her parents to tell them she'd done something bad. sirius tutted, pulling out his wand and casted a warming charm on her. "can we go ride the ferris wheel now?"
"of course, we can," sirius said brightly, all signs of his previous sour mood disappearing.
sirius led the way this time, bantering with lily as remus and [name] walked slightly behind. shoulders brushing against one another as they listened into their friends arguing.
somewhere between where they started to the waiting line, remus had managed to slip his hand into her's intertwining them together.
she looked up at him, surprised —not to mention, extremely flustered, and smiled. an action that remus reciprocated along with a comforting squeeze of her hand.
james, lily, sirius, and peter took a car of their own. insisting that remus was too tall (as if it made any sense) to fit into their carriage so it would be better to have her accompany him as to not have him be lonely. all four completely oblivious to just how obvious their match making attempt was.
"this is nice," remus commented absentmindedly, looking over his shoulder, "it's so pretty up here."
"it is," she concurred, eyes kept on remus. tinge of pink and blue with the slightest hint of purple, painted his face, green eyes shining brightly. "they're taking pictures of us."
remus turned abruptly, concern written all over his face, "what?"
"them." she pointed upwards, remus eyed her direction and found their friends in the other car grinning and waving at them.
lily had her polaroid camera in her hand, it pointing at them. she gestured her over, shouting about how she couldn't fit her into the frame unless she sat besides remus. she followed her request, moving to sit by his side and looked up at them.
their was a flash, lily took the first polaroid out and handed it to james who was besides her. "smile!" she shouted before adding, "move closer, [name]! you're too far away!"
again, she did what she was told, scooting over and rested her head on remus' shoulder, smiling up at lily. remus laid his head on top of hers, beaming at the camera as well. lily counted from three and the flash went, sitting back down when she was satisfied with its result.
remus hand found hers once more, holding onto it firmly. "i think i might fall asleep."
"go ahead," she said lightly, "i've been working on my levitation spell, i can get you back to hogwarts safely."
remus lifted his head up so he could look at her properly. "as much as i am honored to the first person you murder, i'm really not looking forward to dying so soon."
she moved away from his shoulder, gaping at him with mock offense. "you underestimate me, mister lupin."
"and i've always been correct with my underestimations."
"that's not a kind way to talk to your best friend."
"actually i can talk to my best friend however i want," he said matter-of-factly, "that's kind of the point of being best friends with someone, being able to act however you want."
"you know what," she said, scooting away from him, "i don't want to be near you anymore."
"is that so?" he taunted, pulling at her hand.
"it is."
"i don't believe you." he leaned forward, pushing at her buttons. the full moon was near, which meant remus' senses had been heightened, making the both of them fully aware of just how fast her heart was beating. "i really don't believe you."
within seconds his lips are on hers, closing the gap between him and her without any hesitation. the line of whether their relationship was platonic or romantic, now crossed. remus tilted his head, leaning down to help her from straining her neck. the kiss was innocent, pulling to a stop when they were ushered out of their car by their friends.
remus cheeks were red when he left the carriage, blaming it on the cold wind. james had swept remus into a conversation about the prosperity of churros when remus took her hand again, holding onto it as he amused james with questions.
sirius was walking besides her, hands tuck in his leather jacket. he nudged her lightly —an action that almost knocked her off of her feet if it weren't for remus catching her. remus scolded sirius quickly before turning to check on her, after being satisfied with her answer he turned back to james.
"sirius, you're seventeen stop talking like you're in your eighties," she said exasperatedly, "and i'm really confuse right now. what the fuck do you mean you were once remus, were you once tall and cute or something?"
sirius made a face, one of offense and irritation with the slightest tint of hurt. "are you calling me short and ugly? you wound me, sweetheart."
"i'm not calling you short, sirius. it's just that i don't have the crippling fear that you would suddenly lick my head when i'm near you."
"tall people don't do that," sirius frowned, "do they?
"i wouldn't know," she shrugged.
"anyways." sirius dragged out, moving back to the topic at hand. "what i'm trying to say is that i've put someone in the same situation as you and moony right now. it doesn't end well, [name]."
"it's really confusing —and if i'm being completely honest here, i feel guilty for everything that happened," he confessed quietly, "i made it complicated. when it could've been so easy.
"so . . ." sirius trailed off, watching her with patient grey eyes, "talk to him. make sure you know where the two of you stand before everything goes wrong."
sirius gave her one last reassuring smile before he tuned into their friends discussion on churros. remus let out a laugh at one of james' comment, a pretty smile on his lips that may or may not have pulled at her heart string.
fuck remus, where did she stand?
•••
sirius was laying on the couch, james sitting on the floor besides him along with peter while remus sat on the armchair when lily and her found them in the gryffindor's common room. there was a girl, hunched over the coffee table, a small notebook in hand talking to james and sirius as she wrote down whatever she found important.
she must've felt her presence, looking up at them with a small smile. "dorcas, we had care of magical creatures together in third year."
she replied with her name, smiling as well. "what were you three talking about?"
"a project," she said enthusiastically.
lily sat down besides james, and patted the empty spot to her left for her to take. she was about to take a seat beside lily when something tugged at her hand, she turned, following the direction of her distraction and found remus smiling at her, his hand holding onto hers.
"sit with me." she was hesitant, not knowing where she was supposed to go when the chair was so small. remus must've noticed, pulling her directly into his lap and wrapped an arm around her waist, securing her in her spot.
dorcas didn't even bat an eyelash when she continued on, "would you like to hear about it?"
"sure."
dorcas began her explanation with a clap of her hands. "so i've been reading a new romance novel and in it there's this muggle newspapers thing where people can mail something they wanted to say to someone they loved or cared for, whether romantically or platonically, it was called the W.L.U segment —standing for words left unsaid."
"i thought it was cool so i asked dumbledore if i could somehow pull an event together and he said no but i'm known to be quite annoying so i used that to my advantage and eventually he agreed."
"so." she clapped her hands together. "on march, thirteen, the fifth floor corridor will be plastered by sticky notes with hand written words on them for each person that is submitted to. it is by first name only and there would be a spell to prevent you from actually recognizing who's ever hand writing it is, so everything will be anonymous."
she had many questions, unsure how everything will work out like dorcas planned it out to. there was thousands of students at hogwarts, how can she fit them all in the corridors (even if the name were to overlap), how will the letters be submitted if it was anonymous, and most importantly —how will filch's cat resist the urge to claw off all the notes?
instead she settled on asking, "march thirteen?"
"it's when my dad first met my mother," she said with small smile, "under a clementine tree."
"can everyone just submit anonymously?" peter asked, intrigued.
"that's pretty much the whole idea, no one would know who said what. we're giving out special notes that would magick itself out of your life the second you've finished writing and it would be added to the wall. the notes will be owled out to everyone, because if you saw someone trying to get the notes you'll be suspicious of them, ya know?"
and then she added, "the identities would be unknown unless you sign it off with your full name, or initials for whoever it is you wrote it to, to guess. it's up to you really, if you want your identity to be known then you make it known."
"are you sure it will stay anonymous?" he followed up skeptically.
"cross my heart. not even the ones preparing this project would know."
•••
march came fast, so did remus' birthday —an event that had left her more confuse then she was before hand. the marauders had threw him a surprise party, one she attended in high spirits.
around midnight, marlene had dragged her into a circle where their friends was waiting for her. "we're playing truth or dare," she had told her.
the first few rounds was fun for the most part, her having done stupid dares that had spilled out of peter's drunken lips (the gryffindor is the funniest when he's absolutely wasted).
remus' birthday cake sat in the center of the circle, everyone enjoying their slices while they played the game. remus picked dare for the third time, keeping up with the courageous gryffindor spirit.
dorcas perked up at this, getting her word in before anyone else could. "i dare you to kiss the person you find most beautiful in this room."
sirius had pouted his lips out for him only to be blatantly ignored by remus. the room was —more or less— unphased when remus had made his way over to [name], cupping her face and kissed her.
soft and quick.
when he pulled away, he made his way back to his seat and acted like nothing had happened.
dorcas nudged her from her right, giggling slightly as she spoke, "i knew he would kiss you."
then the question she tried so desperately to forget resurfaces. what were they? where did she stand?
the next day comes and dumbledore introduced the project at dinner, letting dorcas up on the podium which she spoke at proudly, informing everyone of her plans and answering any questions they had.
the notes arrived the next morning, students walked around chatting about who they planned to write to and by dinner time half of the castle had written and sent off their first notes.
march, thirteen came and she was rudely awakened by dorcas and sirius pounding at her door, announcing that the project has been opened for viewing and that they needed to see it as soon as possible.
she quickly got dressed and followed them into the common room. stood by the entrance was the rest of their friend group, all looking tired out of their mind.
james led the way towards the fifth floor, the corridors walls littered with notes, all belonging to a group of names in alphabetical order.
their group went through the names one by one, being nosy when there seemed to be some sort of drama in the mysterious notes. some of the notes were on the sweet side, some malicious.
james was a common name but they were —luckily enough— able to identify which one was their james based off of how some referred him as 'the quidditch king' or 'james, potter, james potter' or the last (and definitely sirius' favorite way of identifying james out of them all) was 'james, the four eyed one.'
there was various love confessions, some cussing him for not giving them a position on the gryffindor's quidditch team, and some compliments about how much they wanted to run their hands through his beautiful, beautiful hair.
"you smell." sirius read out loud, ignoring the tiny :) that was drawn on the note to laugh at james' face. "i think that's for you, prongs."
"shut up, pads. you smell like wet dog."
then was the letter R standing tall above the name remus. on the wall stuck countless amount of notes, all confessing just how pretty they thought remus was. his pretty eyes, his pretty nose, his pretty lips and how much they wanted to kiss it and his stupidly pretty hands.
"good god moony, what spell have you put hogwarts under," james said slightly horrified, his eyes gluing to each notes that stuck under the name remus, "what have you done?"
"i haven't done anything," remus replied, his tone defensive, "and we can't be sure this is about me, i'm not the only person named remus."
"yeah but you're the only person in this school with that name." dorcas pointed out, just as fascinated as the rest of them with the amount of letters he received.
something caught her attention, making her take a step forward so she could get a better look at it. dorcas turned to her friend, fingers pointed at a note written in blue paper. "this handwriting looks familiar."
she followed dorcas' hand, reading the note to herself. i'm so confuse, remus. where do i stand? am i your girlfriend or am i just a girl that's a friend?
below it was another note written with same handwriting. i shouldn't have let you kissed me the first time and i definitely shouldn't have let you done it the second since all it did was amplify how i feel for you.
sirius cleared his throat loudly, pulling their attention to him. "this is boring," he began, grey eyes firmly locked with her, "let's go read mine."
he pulled her away with a smile to the others, hoping that they'd follow without questioning. "you wrote it didn't you?"
"wrote what." she acted oblivious, standing before the wall filled with notes for the name sirius. he, like remus, was the only one with that name.
"those notes." he rolled his eyes, annoyed.
"isn't there supposed to be a spell to prevent people from knowing who wrote it?"
"there is," he concurred, "i actually don't know for sure. 's why i'm asking you. i don't recognize your hand writing but i know the situation mentioned like the back of my hands. i can only assume and i know they can too."
"so now everyone knows that i'm confused about what remus and i are?"
"pretty much," lily joined in, standing besides her. "god, sirius why is so many people angry at you?"
"why people are upset with me is not important right now," said sirius distractedly, "what's important is that moony read those notes —just like we did, need i remind you— and he still hasn't come to try and talk to you."
"maybe he doesn't know it's from me—"
"remus is not a basket case, darling," cut in sirius. "he's being slow on purpose."
lily tsked. "men are stupid, [name]." she reminded, not sparing a second at the baffled look sirius threw her. "let's go read the ones with your name on it."
there was only so many notes for someone with her name, all littered with different colors and signed with their initials on it. she didn't know half of the possible initials but one specifically caught her eyes.
r.l
she hoped, despite knowing that she shouldn't, hoped that it was from him and that he had written it for her.
above the initials was the note itself, written in a set of neat handwritings that was so similar and yet so unidentifiable, it had her heart jumping to her throat.
i had hoped that one day i could shun you out of my mind but i cannot, not when you are the only thing running through it. not when the idea that you'd let me kiss you again is stuck in my mind. the same mind that hasn't stopped thinking about you before i even knew how much i liked you.
i can only hope you would forgive me for it. r.l
"you know," sirius said slowly, eyeing the note, "this whole confession thing would be so much easier if you just talked to each other."
"like you're the one to talk sirius," lily scoffed, "you wrote regulus a lengthy five note apology letter instead of just saying sorry."
sirius flushed at that, turning away from lily bashfully as he muttered under his breath about how she was no fun.
•••
dinner came after classes as usual. dumbledore gave the podium once more to dorcas for her to express just how grateful she was that so many people participated in the project, welcoming feedbacks with open arms.
dorcas thanked james, lily, and sirius, respectfully giving them credit where it's due. dorcas was half way off the podium when her eyes widened comically, running back towards frantically. "just one more thing."
"if someone has said something to you and you're sure that it's meant for you from that special someone." dorcas looked at her pointedly, making her avert her eyes. "talk to them, work it out. that's all, goodnight."
dessert wasn't even able to make its appearance when she was hunted down by the marauders.
"i need to talk to you." remus took a step forward cautiously. "please?"
the five of them trudge towards the nearest empty room, the other three boys leaving to give them privacy. "so," she drawled, "what did you want to talk about?"
"why did you ask me if you were my girlfriend?" he asked directly, not seeing the point of beating around the bush.
"isn't it self explanatory?"
"no, it's not actually," said remus, annoyance etching into his tone, "would you care to explain why you said so?"
"i said it so because, i wasn't sure if i was."
"you weren't sure if you were my girlfriend?" remus scoffed, narrowing his eyes incredulously, "then what were you?"
"i dunno," she said lowly, feeling stupid that this conversation was even happening in the first place, "it's what i'm trying to find out."
"okay wait." remus took in a deep breath, his hand in a pausing motion. "so for the last three months, i thought that you were my girlfriend while you thought i was just some friend who goes around kissing people?"
"that's not—"
"it's not? because, it seems to me like you thought so."
"well it's not my fault you never made it clear!"
"and it's not my fault you never asked," he argued, "because, if you did —for even just once, we wouldn't be fighting right now."
she stared at him in silence, feeling speechless. "i'm so confuse."
"you're confuse?" he asked, almost taunting, "i'm fucking confuse. i've been thinking that you were my girlfriend since i kissed you in that goddamn ferris wheel."
"you thought we've been dating for three months?"
"yes," he said with a nod, "since we went on that ferris wheel and i kissed you. you didn't pull away, you kissed me back so i thought the feelings were mutual but apparently not."
"so that night," she murmured slowly, "your birthday." she clarified. "you kissed me because you were my 'boyfriend' and not because you were drunk."
"i kissed you because, you truly were the most beautiful person in that room," remus sighed, "why would you even think otherwise?"
"i don't know—" she paused, feeling pathetic, "it's just something sirius said after we kissed, it got me thinking—"
"of course, it's fucking sirius," remus cut in, laughing dryly, "the lad makes one relationship mistake and thinks he's qualified to go off and give advice. look where that got us now."
they could hear a scowl from outside the room before a smack landed, a loud ow! and a shut up you twat, you messed this up once already following in its wake.
"nowhere bad," she said, defending sirius slightly, "he actually told me to talk to you but i didn't so it's technically my fault."
"it's not your fault, [name]." remus frowned. "this could never be your fault. i kissed you not once but twice and never bothered to talk to you about it. it was stupid of me to think it was mutual."
"but it was, remus," she told him, "the kiss. everything. it was all mutual. i just— i didn't know that i was your girlfriend."
"then i must be one shitty boyfriend," he snickered, chewing on his bottom lip.
"will you just shut up and kiss me?" she took a step towards him. "as my boyfriend this time."
remus met her in the middle, smiling shyly. "how could i ever say no to you."

James being a big bear of a boyfriend and always just like lifting u up so easily to hug and sit on his lap and even tho u hate when anyone else does it he’s so BEEFY that you’re fine with him doing it
Yessssss I'm not much of a physical touch person irl but James I would allow
poly!marauders x fem!reader ♡ 847 words
Sirius is trying to follow Remus’ example and focus on the puzzle, but his eyes keep flitting up to you worriedly. You’ve monopolized the couch, laying flat with a hand cast over your eyes and your mouth pinched in obvious discomfort. He’d tried rubbing your calf and Remus had offered you tea, but they’d both given up when the attention only seemed to worsen your mood. Remus suggested they work on the puzzle while you rest (not Sirius’ favorite activity, but forced upon him because it keeps him quiet) and now they’re both simply trying not incur your wrath.
“Quit looking at me,” you growl without opening your eyes.
In Sirius’ case, not doing a very good job.
“Fine, sheesh,” he says, and you press your lips together like you’re restraining yourself from snapping at him.
You cringe when the door opens, every line of you pulling taut. James is all smiles as he tosses his gym bag to the floor with a heavy thump. “Hello, my loves!” His voice is a decibel short of booming, but it softens when he sees you on the couch. “Oh, sorry, is she napping?”
Remus shakes his head, lips pursed as he watches your hand tighten over your eyes. “Headache,” he explains quietly.
“Oh, I’m sorry lovie.” James reroutes from the kitchen, heading for you. Sirius tenses. “How bad is it?”
“Prongs,” Sirius whispers urgently, “don’t—”
But James has already lifted you, one hand under your knees and another supporting your back as he moves you smoothly from your chosen position of rest and into his lap. He makes it look like nothing, which is the first offense (Sirius isn’t sure which of you he’s more jealous of), but the second is that you let him. Sirius and Remus have both looked up in alarm, waiting for a biting protest that doesn’t come. Instead, you remove your hand from your face, burying in it James’ brawny shoulder instead.
“Bad,” you grumble, but your tone lacks the venom you’d spat at Sirius a moment before.
James coos like he’s got a kitten in his lap instead of a viper, bringing his considerable arms around you. His palm cups the back of your neck, kneading gently at the tensed muscles there. “Where does it hurt, darling?”
“Everywhere.”
“By your eyes?”
“No.”
He hums, brows furrowing as he works steadily at your neck. You’ve gone nearly lax in his arms, trusting him to hold you up as you slump against his front. “Have you been drinking water?”
“It’s not that.” Some of the irritation is back in your tone, Sirius notices, but it’s been markedly softened for James. “I had tons of water this morning.”
“Probably a tension headache then, yeah?” He looks to Remus, who nods. The quiet boy looks as dumbstruck as Sirius feels.
James moves his grip to your sides and lifts you again, rearranging his legs to get more comfortable before placing you back in his lap. He places a hand on each side of your head, thumbs pushing into your temples and rubbing in slow, soothing circles. You begin to look like you might fall asleep.
“This is so unfair,” Sirius hisses to Remus.
“He has a power,” Remus admits weakly, “which transcends understanding.”
“Do you want some tea?” James murmurs to you after a while. Sirius’ eyes have gotten stuck watching the movement of his forearms, and he snaps them reluctantly back up.
You hum, uncertain but definitely considering it. Behind you, Remus throws up his hands. James sees him and smiles, shoulders shaking with quiet laughter.
“I’m getting the sense this isn’t the first cup you’ve been offered,” he says, looking immensely entertained.
You sigh, but even that sounds pleasurable as his big thumbs drill diligently into your temples. “Yeah, but I just wanted to be left alone.”
Remus and Sirius exchange a look. You seem perfectly fine with company now.
“Don’t be silly,” James chides lightly, “a warm drink will make you feel better. Remus, love, would you be so kind as to make her a cup?”
“Sure.” His voice is gruff, but then you murmur a quiet thanks, Rem and Sirius actually sees the moment his heart turns to mush. “No problem,” he says, softer now.
“Attagirl.” James’ hand drops to give your shoulder a squeeze, his bicep flexing slightly with the movement. Christ, Sirius might have to fake a headache later, if this is the sort of treatment those receive. “Drink your tea and then we’ll get you to bed, yeah? You can sleep the rest of this off.”
“You know, I offered to carry her to bed earlier,” Sirius says, still slightly bitter, “and she told me very clearly to fuck off.”
You don’t sound so much exasperated now as exhausted. “Siri, when you carrying me doesn’t involve setting me down every five steps for a break, then we’ll talk.”
James’ laugh surprises both of you, and he apologizes hastily for jostling you, pressing a quick kiss to your forehead before resuming his ministrations. You don’t seem all that upset about it.

hi lovie! just had a thought of remus not being able to prepare the reader for him and going “deep breath, baby” cause this man has massive cock and that’s it
this post is 18+, minors dni.
"It's gonna hurt," Remus hums, low and sweet as he presses a kiss to your flushed cheek. It's hot with lust and exhilaration, and he noses at the other one while your stomach clenches in anticipation.
"I can take it," You vow, and you really mean it, even if Remus is convinced it'll take time. You've seen him before, and he's impressive to say the least, but you're aching and wet, and there's nothing you want more than to feel Remus's thick cock slip into your eager cunt.
"Relax," He warns you, keeping his face pressed to yours, breathing in tandem with you and brushing his lips against your nose from proximity alone, "Relax, dove, y'hear me?"
"I'm relaxed," You promise, forcing your muscles to un-tense themselves. You feel the head of his cock prod at your slit, although it doesn't offer much resistance until his full circumference breaches your hole. All at once it's too thick, too big, too much, and you tense up again, thighs and stomach and hands all clenched as you gasp in a breath of air.
"Breathe, sweetheart, breathe," Remus coaches, stopping in his tracks, "Deep breath, baby, you're alright. We'll go slow."
"No, I can take it," You repeat, less confident this time, and nearly breathless, "Remus, I- I can take it."
"I know y'can," He croons, pressing another sticky warm kiss to your face, tucked between your nose and your cheek, "Just be patient, sweet thing. You can have it all, I promise. Just wanna make sure I'm not gonna rip you t'pieces, love."

big dick remus :P
i just know remus’ cock is so thick and long, he always has to prep your pussy before fucking you.
he’d mutter reassuring words in your ear, telling you to be patient and wait til you were loose enough for him. first, he would start with his fingers; teasing your clit and edging the rim of his middle finger inside your hole.
you’d bite your lips at him entering you, his lips moving to kiss your neck and keep you distracted. “my baby’s so tight.” his words were so soft spoken but also sounded so dirty coming from his mouth.
humming in response, you clenched around his digit while his ring and index fingers moved to smear your wetness against your lips, thumb pressing onto your clit. he’d shush you as a whine exited your mouth, holding onto you tighter and pushing another finger inside of you. “that’s it, open up for me.”
remus would continue working on fucking you with his hand until he was satisfied that you could take his cock. when he pulled out from you and instead ran his tip against your bare cunt, a gasp swiftly left your lips, your gaze dropping down to the sight below. the action of him dragging his length across your pussy felt so teasing yet incredibly satisfactory at the same time that you couldn’t complain and watched — mouth wide open — as he slipped himself inside of you.
your cunt was so inviting and gripped to him so well, remus had to force himself not to go overboard. he’d go and out of you effortlessly, while waiting for you to fully before quickening his pace.
as words impulsively babbled from your mouth, he thrusted inside of you while simultaneously messing with your pussy. “your cock feels so good, please don’t stop.” humming in response, remus took full notice of your fingers digging into his arms, his hands moving to hold your thighs in place and keep them spread apart.
he remained fucking you from behind as he rammed his length into your throbbing hole and your tits jolted with every slam. he kept his focus on your face, watching as your expression grew more fucked out when you suddenly threw your head back — a shriek leaving your mouth and your body moving to a halt.
remus didn’t stop pushing into you until he felt his tip throb, reluctantly pulling out and feeling himself twitch. as he clenched his thighs and his cock sprang against your cunt, almost reflexively he grabbed his length and slapped it against you a couple times, your body jerking against his chest.

His Girl
Pairing: shy!remus lupin x shy!fem!reader
summary: An oblivious boy that you've been trying to get away from for a week corners you at a party. Luckily, Remus is there to help.
warnings: fake dating, sexual harassment (catcalling, attempted forced kiss), implied attempted SA (nothing too graphic, remus steps in before the creep gets too close), no use of (y/n), alcohol consumption, language, mutual pining, secondhand embarrassment, cheesiness, fluffy ending because shy remus deserves the world (w/c: 2.4k)
“Pretty girl, come back and talk t’me! I’m getting lonely over here all by myself,” Jason Hartley slurred, stretching out a clammy hand in your direction. You were thankful that his movements were uncoordinated, because it was difficult enough to navigate through the throng of students packed together like sardines.
In the low lighting of the Gryffindor common room, you couldn't make out any familiar faces, so you set your sight on disappearing behind the nearest group of people.
The problem arose last week in potions class. Your desk partner was a kind Hufflepuff girl, but usually abandoned you to spend time with her closer friends. Jason – the boy who sat behind you – volunteered to be your partner for such occasions, and honestly, you didn’t mind at first. He wasn’t a great student, but managed to at least brew the potions correctly where many of your classmates failed.
However, Jason was unwaveringly obnoxious, and earned a daily scolding from Professor Slughorn for talking over the entirety of his instructions.
While brewing a particularly petulant draught of peace, Jason sighed loudly, causing you to turn and face him. When you asked him what was wrong, he whined and explained how his girlfriend had cheated on him with one of his friends.
It was clearly causing him a lot of grief, and you reasoned that for the decent help he provided you with, he deserved something to cheer him up. You kindheartedly offered to treat him to a butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks, to which he agreed with a smug smile.
You first realised your mistake when he met you at the front gate of the school, gleefully exclaiming how excited he was for your “date.”
You rushed to correct him, but he kept blathering on about the masculinity of Quidditch (he didn’t make the team), his aptitude in transfiguration (he was publicly lectured by professor McGonnagall only days prior), and how women shouldn’t apply for positions in the Ministry (he couldn’t name any of the departments if he tried).
By the time he finished, hours had passed and your voice was scratchy from disuse. You smiled politely as internal rage dug daggers into your palms under the table. It wasn’t even worth arguing with him about.
After you fished out your wallet and paid for the both of you, he leaned in to grab your waist and kiss you full-on, but you sidestepped away from him just in time.
As always, he was completely oblivious to any sort of rejection whatsoever. You saved yourself from walking back to the school with him when you told him that you needed to pick up some “sensitive” items in the apothecary.
You left him no room to argue before heaving the door open and booking it to the Honeydukes cellar passageway as fast as you could.
He’d been trying to track you down in the days since, and you’d successfully avoided him every time. Until now.
“Baby, please! Need you to sit on my lap, kiss me hard,” he groaned, tossing his half-consumed cup of liquor across the crowded room. Unfortunately, no one seemed to notice. You gagged. Your chest was heaving – releasing short breaths that made it feel like you were drowning.
You were running out of space to escape from him, and everyone else was too drunk to interfere. In a moment of weakness, you wedged yourself between two cabinets and shut your eyes, praying that whatever he tried would be over soon.
When a voice rang out through the muffled hum of the crowd, it was sweeter than you’d expected.
“I’m so sorry I’m late, darling. I picked up your favourite chocolate and some peonies that I thought you might like.” Your shoulders dropped. You blinked open your eyes, and found that your view of the party was blocked by the cutest boy you’d ever seen.
Golden brown hair draped over his hazel-coloured eyes, and a silver scar crossed over his nose and through his eyebrow. His Adam's apple bobbed, as if he was nervously awaiting your response. His gaze was soft, and pleaded for you to take the pink flowers extended in his hands. “Play along,” he mouthed. Your fingers curled around his larger hand, and your arm settled around his back.
“Baby, you don’t need to apologise.” You stood on your toes and cupped his jaw, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. Remus swallowed thickly and prayed that his face didn’t look as red as it felt. His hands were on fire as you embraced them delicately. “I’m so lucky that you thought of me, my love.”
You side-eyed Jason, who scoffed, and muttered words of defeat under his breath as he scurried off to bother some other poor soul.
Remus took note of the way your body decompressed, and how you continued to squeeze his hand. He’d like to think that it was your method of comforting yourself without even realising it. “Would you like to get some fresh air?” He suggested, meeting your shy gaze once again.
You nodded contentedly and intertwined your arms, letting him lead you through the portrait hole and away from the flashing lights and bass-boosted music.
As the adrenaline of escaping from Jason faded, your nervous system reminded you of who you were clinging to like a lifeline. Of course you knew of Remus – everyone did. He was one of the most handsome boys in your year, albeit shy and soft-spoken, and you’d been madly crushing on him (distantly) since you were both twelve.
Of course, this was when the Marauders were first establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with – universally acknowledged and adored by admirers, loathed by foes, and a torment to most professors.
However, Remus seemed to be immune to controversy. He engaged in his fair share of misbehaviour, but he was less impulsive than his best mates, and preferred to spend his time in the library, burrowing within fictional worlds and treasure troves of academic knowledge.
On many occasions, you spotted him deep in concentration, eyes squinted and hands deftly tracing scenes of the Black Lake onto a sketchbook.
You almost worked up the courage to speak to him once, but resigned yourself when you learned that you were not unique in your position. You chose to admire him from a distance after overhearing routine whispers of girls (and guys) fawning over him in almost every corridor of the castle.
He, however, was completely unaware of the group of admirers that giggled and twirled their hair at the mere sight of him.
He didn’t seem to ever notice you, though, which hurt way more than it should. Recently, you’d attempted to move on – yet here you were, making a fool out of yourself and melting into his side.
Thanks to Remus’ prefect privileges, you were able to bypass the security of the castle and head straight for the serenity of the lake. As you both nestled yourself in the surrounding grass, his hold on your hand loosened. “Are you okay?” He asked, concern apparent in his tone. His furrowed brow and the flecks of gold in his eyes tinted your cheeks pink. You were thankful that it was dark outside.
“I’m lucky that you were there to rescue me, s’all.” You nearly whispered. “He hasn’t left me alone all week.”
“I know.” Remus muttered, shaking his head and staring at his legs. His eyes widened. “I mean- he’s a total prick. Always acting as if girls owe him something. It’s impossible not to notice him. I’m sorry I didn’t do something earlier- in potions class, I mean.” He cursed himself for being so awkward.
Meanwhile, you felt electricity warm your stomach. Remus had really noticed you before? Sure, he was known for being exceptionally kind, but your paths hadn’t ever crossed in a noteworthy way, at least to you.
He continued. “I’m sorry if it was awkward– what I did. I don’t think anything else would have worked on him, at this point.” His voice trailed off, growing softer at the end.
“Are you kidding? Remus, that was brilliant!” You slapped a hand over your mouth. The volume in your voice startled a crow at the edge of the lake, who began to caw wildly.
You continued, more gently this time. “I mean, you’re brilliant. Of course you are, with all of the studying you do. In the library, like every day.” Remus’ grin widened as you got increasingly flustered. “I meant to say – God, I’m bad at this. What I mean to say is thank you. I know that everyone always talks about how nice you are, but now I get it.”
“What, you didn’t believe them before?” Remus teased. You opened your mouth to defend yourself, but he cut you off. “I’m only joking. You’re welcome, you’re always welcome. It was nothing. I’d break his nose, if I had the chance. In fact, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind laxatives in his breakfast, and a week-long vacation to the infirmary after duelling practice.”
“Remus!” You chided, shoving his shoulder lightly. He caught your hand on his chest, and rubbed his thumb against your knuckles lightly.
“Only joking,” He smiled widely, feeling his heart pound so hard against his ribcage he thought he might die. He wondered if you felt it from where you were sitting, only a foot away from him.
He lowered your hand, and used your distracted state as a chance to admire your carefree expression. Your lips were stretched wide in laughter, and your breath was melodic in the silence of midnight. Your features were relaxed, and he couldn’t remember the last time he saw you this way.
For years he'd taken to admiring you from afar, too afraid of stumbling over his words and becoming a bumbling idiot without a brain. He shamefully recalled the time that he gave a presentation in front of his history of magic class and froze under your tender gaze.
He groaned into his pillow the entire night as James and Sirius skipped in circles around his bed, cackling and spluttering and imitating him forgetting how to speak for ten minutes.
Still, whenever he saw you, it was like seeing you for the first time. He was a total mess, and you probably saw right through him. Your voice cut through his usual self-depracating inner monologue.
“Remus, why did you have chocolates and flowers with you anyway?” You murmured, feeling your heartbeat pick up in your chest. You hated yourself for asking this question because you already knew the answer. Your palms began to sweat. In the moment of suspense, you would have done anything to cling to blind hope for a little while longer. Maybe he liked you back. Deep down, you knew that it couldn't be true.
You were making him nervous, and Remus always seemed to exude confidence. He probably wanted to give those gifts to a lucky guy or girl who wasn’t you, and whose date you must have crashed with your personal issues.
“Oh,” he swallowed. “Well actually, Pads–er, Sirius, asked me to pick these up for a guy on our floor that he’s been trying to impress lately.” He exhaled a puff of air through his nose. “Reckon he couldn’t be bothered to get them himself. These’re yours now.” He looked up at you through his eyelashes, heart stopping when you giggled and lowered your head to smell the peonies.
You felt warmth swell in your chest. In the silence, a moment of confidence struck you. “Why haven’t we talked like this before?”
Remus’ throat felt dry. His mind was racing as he tried to think of what to say – something that was destined to only scratch the surface of what he wished he could tell you. “When we’re in the library at the same time and you're not looking, I see you huddled over your books, and I think I start having heart palpitations or something, and I – fuck, you’re so pretty.” Your jaw dropped. He realised. “Shit, did I say that out loud?”
“Remus-”
“Well, I’ve already started, might as well just say it all,” he muttered under his breath. He hoped you wouldn’t hate him after this. “You’re the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen, and I’m an idiot who doesn’t know what he’s doing. When I see you in the corridor, or in the common room, I think I lose myself, and I end up trying to act like someone else, like a less-insecure version of myself, and fuck, you’re gorgeous and I’m just– I’m-”
“Remus.” You placed your hand on top of his. He exhaled, hoping to God that he doesn’t start crying when you reject him. “Remus, I – um, I like you. A lot.” His heart stopped. He thought he blacked out for a minute, maybe two. Eventually, you noticed his vacant expression, and his eyes that were unblinking.
“Remus, are you okay? Earth to Remus?” Suddenly, he was brought back to life. He felt like somebody told him that he qualified for the Olympics, or he received outstandings in all of his N.E.W.T.s. Maybe his dreams of meeting David Bowie had come true, or even better. Definitely better.
In a moment of impulsivity, he leaned forward until his face was in front of your own. You could feel his shaky exhale on your skin, waiting for you to make the next move. You leaned toward him and gently pressed your lips against his, running your hands through the soft curls at the nape of his neck. He hummed into your mouth and stroked your cheek with his thumb.
Slowly, he pulled away for breath. “Sweet girl, can I take you out to get a proper butterbeer? Without sexist jokes, or wandering hands? Or– I’ll take you anywhere you want to go.” You beamed at him, and Remus’ heart thudded in his chest hard.
“I don’t mind the wandering hands part, actually.”
He erupted into surprised laughter – short, breathless gasps that escaped his heaving chest. “Oi, you were so shy a moment ago! Where has my nervous girl gone?” He didn’t attempt to hide the warmth that seeped into his features and illuminated him in a hue of pink, scarcely visible in the webs of shadowy moonlight that slithered through the clouds.
“Your girl, huh?” You raised an eyebrow.
“I didn’t mean – unless you also wanted to be, for me to ask you properly, because I want you to-”
“I think I could get used to that. Only if I’d get to call you ‘my boy,’ though."
Remus' smile was contagious. He felt a blooming love break free from beneath the patchwork of scars adorning his chest and the steely barriers within. He unravelled all of his defences. He was sure of it. You would be his girl, his everything, always.
The next morning, he made sure to arrange an extra special meeting between Jason, who was covered in painful head-to-toe boils, and the head of school. So help him, Jason would never see any part of you or the castle again.
A/N: Thank you so much for reading, I hope that you enjoyed! As this is my first work on this blog, likes and reblogs are very much apprecated!! Please do not copy or translate any of my work without permission.

drunk remus will forever be my kryptonite. like imagine him just rambling about everything and then he sees you and is like "ohmygodyouresopretty"
hannah oh em gee. drunk lovesick remus is my everything. I love u for this
summary: remus is drunk and whipped
gn!reader 0.5k words
You walk Remus to the bathroom partly because he’s so drunk he can barely walk in a straight line, and partly because you’re just as clingy as he is right now and you’re not even drunk.
Your arm is braced around his lower back as you lead him down the carpeted hallway. He’s rambling about all sorts of nonsense, and you can’t say you completely understand or even catch a single intelligible word. But it’s nice to listen to his voice. Even if it’s all slurred and sticky.
When you stop at the bathroom door, Remus is not paying attention where he’s going and tries to keep walking. You snag his wrist and pull him back.
“Remus,” you say, trying desperately not to laugh. “Bathroom’s back here, love.”
Remus staggers backwards into your side. His eyes zero in on the bathroom door and then he blinks. “Oh.”
You snort but cover it up with a fake cough. And anyway, Remus is too inebriated to hear you having a laugh at him. He twists the arm that you’ve got in your hand to grab your hand with his instead. Then he pushes the bathroom door open and tries to pull you with him.
“Remus, what are you doing?” You giggle, planting your feet firmly on the threshold and refusing to let him pull you any further.
Remus turns, a blunt, almost impatient look on his face. “I’m going to the bathroom, dove. What does it look like?”
You snort. This time you don’t even bother hiding it. “I’m not coming with you, Remus.”
Remus looks at you like you’re crazy. “What?”
You shake your head at him, very amused and very looking forward to teasing him for this for the rest of his life. “What, d’you want me to hold it?” You ask, incredulous. “I’m not coming.”
Remus pouts at you. “Baby,” he whines.
You hold your ground, even though he looks awfully cute when he’s pouting like that. “Baby,” you mock.
Remus scowls. “Fine then,” he says moodily. You know he’s not actually angry but he’s a damn good actor, even when drunk. He drops your hand and disappears into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
You don’t have to wait long for him to finish. A few minutes pass and then the door opens and Remus appears again. Looking far less sullen, like he’s forgotten all about your refusal to join him in the bathroom.
“Hi,” you say, grinning.
Remus stands there with his hand on the doorknob and a halo of light around his head and blinks. Stares at you hard. Then blinks again.
“Spare me,” he murmurs.
You’re alarmed, to say the least. “What?” you giggle, “Remus, what are you talking about?”
“I swear you’ve gotten prettier since two minutes ago,” he says, and he sounds genuinely boggled. Flabbergasted. “How is that possible? Are you kidding me?”
He takes your face in his big hands and stares at you intensely. He pulls your face so close to his he could kiss you. Looks at you with big wide eyes and parted lips.
“You’re sick,” he says eventually, after a lifetime of his eyes travelling all over your face. “Why would you do this to me?”
You giggle. Your chest feels tight though you won’t tell him that. “I didn’t do anything, Remus.”
Remus huffs. “Sure you didn’t,” he says, all sarcasm. “You’re—“
You kiss him to shut him up. Purely to make him stop talking, of course, and not because his doting is making your face burn.

Remus chews on the inside of his cheek as you tidy up the kitchen, you’ve been busy all day whether it’s work, studying or chores there was always something that had your attention, anything but him.
It’s ridiculous he thinks, you’re both adults with adult problems and yet here he is sulking because he feels pushed to the side. He blames it partly on the long week he’s had, nothing seemed to be going right and all he wants is to be wrapped up in your warm love and to forget about everything.
However he doesn’t want to come across as clingy, he cringes as the thought crosses his mind, because what if you get sick of it? Sick of him? It’s a thought that festers from some deep-rooted insecurity and he tries his best to talk himself out of thinking that way, but that’s easier said than done especially when those thoughts are at the forefront of his mind.
You smile over at him, the sweetest smile he’s ever seen and there’s an odd sense of guilt that builds up in his chest. He feels awful for moping about all day and he knows he hasn’t been the best of company.
He smiles back at you, although it’s strained it’s still a smile. “Sorry Remmy” you sigh, walking into the living room. He’s sitting on your couch, a throw blanket draped over his knees as he fiddles with the fabric. “But, I’m all done now” You look over at him, your smile dropping as he lets out a shaky sigh, he looks almost frozen as if he wants something but he’s holding back.
Your hand rests against his arm, and he feels the warmth of your palm seeping through his jumper. “Hey, did something happen at work?” You ask, your hand soothing his upper arm, and he thinks he might just start crying because you’re still so caring despite his sour mood.
“No dove, work was fine” he sighs glancing over at you, “I just missed you is all” Your heart clenches in your chest as he whispers the words, his tone so quiet that you almost miss it.
“But I’m right here,” you tell him, slightly confused about where this was coming from.
Then it hits you all at once, as you notice how tears collect in his eyes. You pull him towards you, his arms wrap around you immediately and his hands settle against your back, “It’s been a really long week” he mumbles against your shoulder, breathing you in. You turn your head to press a kiss on his cheek.
Remus pulls back slightly, still close enough that he can feel your body heat radiating against him and he rests his forehead against yours, the ends of his hair tickling your skin, “I’m yours for the entire weekend. No work, no studying, just me and you” you tell him, watching as he smiles widely, bumping his nose against yours.
Your hands cup either side of his face and he sighs softly at the warmth of your palms against his skin. He melts at the way your thumb grazes against the small scar just under his eye, he closes them as he leans into your touch.
“Sounds like a great plan lovely,” he says, his hands resting against your hips as he tugs you closer to him.
His lips press against yours as he gives you little pecks that turn into a slow and gentle kiss, “I love you” you mumble against him, the words have him smiling like a fool and he doesn’t miss the way you let out a breathy giggle.
“Say it again?” He asks dropping a kiss to your jaw.
“I love you Remus” you smile, and he reckons you might just give him heart failure as you play with his hair. He goes completely giddy with love and he can’t quite believe that it’s him you’re talking to.
“I love you too,” he says in between kisses as he litters your face with them, the feeling has you reeling with joy and you both are overtaken with laughter, a sound that has both of your hearts full of sickly love.

hiii would u be open to writing remus lupin x reader with the prompt *x put head on y’s shoulder* “just don’t leave…” with either remus saying it or the reader? no worries if not <3 🦌🦌
hi, my love!! thank you for requesting! i hope this is what you’re looking for! i was in a little bit of a writer block last night so this may not be my best work, i apologize for that, honey </3
cw: fem!reader, fluff, hurt/comfort, angst, mentions of remus being a werewolf, remus feels insecure, the marauders not being very helpful, established relationship, crying, 0.9k
<3
Remus isn’t one to hide who he is, you know he’s a werewolf, he’s been vulnerable with you before, so when he starts to become a little distant from you, you know exactly why. The past few days have been rough for him, you know. Leading up to a full moon is almost always worse than the aftermath. But this time, Remus seems particularly bothered. He still holds your hand to classes and reads to you at night, but something about the way he always is distracted, like loosely holing your hand without knowing and constantly losing his place while reading makes you feel like his mind is truly elsewhere.
The Marauders aren’t helping the situation either. Sure, they’re supportive of their friend and you know they’re always there for him, but the pitying glances don’t go unnoticed by both you and Remus and you don’t presume he is very fond of those looks. You don’t blame him.
At dinner, the night before the full moon, James, Sirius, and Peter keep repeating the same set of motions. Their eyes dart from each other, their food, to Remus, and back to each other. You fight the urge to roll your eyes at their obvious display of concern because Remus doesn’t really need that right now and they should know that after all this time. After tolerating the silent glances for the majority of dinner, Remus shifts uncomfortably, his eyes not leaving his food. You gently slide your hand into his, hoping offer some comfort, and when he accepts you take it a step furthur and draw small circles with your thumb on the back of his hand. This doesn’t last long. When the other three boys offer sympathetic smiles, Remus notices and stands from his seat, dropping your hand and walking out of The Great Hall with quick strides.
“Would you guys quit it?” you hiss at the boys across the table who’s eyes widen at the abrupt snap of your head in their direction.
“What?” They reply in unison and share a few nervous glances before returning to your harsh gaze.
“Remus clearly isn’t doing well,” you say, pointing out the obvious, “the least you can do is not look at him like he’s dying.” you add gesturing in the direction of the door, where Remus had walked out of.
“We’re not—”
“Save it,” you cut James off, who makes an attempt to defend the three of them. You roll your eyes, standing from your seat, “I’m going to check on him.” you state before following the previous path of your boyfriend, out the door and to your dorms.
When you arrive in the common room and head towards the boys’ dorm you hear quiet sobs echoing through the door. Your throat tightens and you hesitate to move towards the sound, but you do anyway because you know Remus needs somebody and you’re always willing to be that somebody.
“Remus?” you call out before pushing the door open and are met with a sniffling Remus, eyes red and puffy. Your heart almost breaks in two, the sight enough to make you feel the clenching in your chest and for a moment, you unknowingly hold your breath.
“Hey, lovely.” Remus greets and his voice cracks with the attempt to cover a sob that might’ve escaped his lips.
“Oh, honey.” you whisper and Remus bows his head, with shame or just to wipe the tears off his face, you don’t know. You walk towards the bed before sitting next to him, hand rubbing his shoulder, slowly sliding down to hold his hand, once more, “Do you want to talk about it?” you offer, bringing Remus to lift his head up and meet your gaze, a lump grows in your throat at his broken expression and you try to keep it together for him.
“I’m just so tired—” Remus starts, before a sob escapes his lips. He reaches out for you and you don’t hesitate to bring him into your arms, his head rests on your shoulder, your hands cupping the back of his neck, while his hands wrap around you waist, “ —I don’t want to be like this anymore.” Remus admits, his voice breaking and you feel your shirt dampen with tears.
“Hey, I’m here.” you say, gently running your hands through Remus’s hair and up and down the length of his back, “James, Sirius and Peter are here.” You add and you feel Remus’s sobs turn to sniffles against your shoulder. “Even if they get on your nerves, they mean well.”
“I know…” Remus says, the sound muffled against your shoulder. He lifts his head, your eyes meeting his puffy ones, “Is it okay if we just stay like this?” Remus asks hesitantly, as if you would ever say no to him.
“It’s more than okay.” You whisper, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. You start to shift your body further onto the bed before Remus’s tight grip around your waist prevents you from doing so. Your eyebrows furrow with confusion before hearing Remus’s desperate voice.
“Don’t leave me, please…” Remus begs, clinging onto you.
I’m never going to leave you,” you reply and Remus nods continuously against your shoulder, his hair falling into his face and brushing yours, “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” Remus says, his voice shaky but calmer than before, “I don’t know what I would do without you.” He admits and your heart warms with his words.
You smile, pulling the both of you back onto his bed in a more comfortable position with his head still tucked into your shoulder, “And you’ll never have to know,” you whisper before you close your eyes and allow yourself to rest.

Sweet Nothing
Remus Lupin x fem!reader
And the voices that implore, "You should be doing more."
To you, I can admit that I'm just too soft for all of it.
based on a request
content- fluff, sickness, hurt/comfort?, established relationship.

You feel a hand on your lower back, guiding you through the throng in the Quidditch Pitch to the castle. Raising your head, your eyes catch Remus's soft but rapt expression. His eyebrows are furrowed, his eyes opting for the best way to get you from the packed crowd with the least malaise.
You don't bother to speak; most probably, he won't hear you. Hell, you don't even hear your own thoughts in all this ruckus. However, you would always hear his calm and tender tone.
"This way, dove."
You let your body comply with his hand on your back.
"You guys are a menace," your disapproving timbre curls up his lips into a subtle smile, one that he tries to hide from you. "And I don't believe for a second that you had nothing to do with this."
He chuckles, his brown eyes catching yours for a moment. "I was with you the whole time, wasn't I?"
"They're not brilliant enough to think of a way of hexing the whole–" Your words are cut off when Remus pulls you to his right. You stumble from the sudden shove, feeling his tight grip on your arms.
You see a group of brooms whooshing from where you were standing only seconds before. "What are they doing?"
"Bastards," Remus mutters, agitated that they almost knocked you out.
"Your fault. You shouldn't have given them a reason to celebrate."
You know you are wrong; of course, the Gryffindor players would celebrate with or without the Marauder's prank on the opposite team. However, a little compunction wouldn't hurt.
"It's not my fault that I'm a mastermind," Remus grins, pulling you closer by the waist. You can hear the cheerful shouts and music from afar, knowing that James is probably capering around, frisking on Sirius or Peter.
"Should we go and celebrate with them?" you ask Remus, even though you despise the hubbub, everyone pushing and pulling others, stumbling to one another, hurting each other's toes. Who needs that? You can very well express your cheers in the common room celebrations. And Remus knows you well enough.
"No, we'll see them in the common room," he says, holding your hand tightly. "Are you hungry?"
"We just ate."
"Do you want snacks? I can get some from the kitchens if you do."
You chuckle at his tone, so soft but also pampering you. "Are you hungry? You certainly sound like you want something to eat."
"You?"
"Remus!" you elbow him, blush painting your cheeks. He laughs, a sound that manages to flutter chords in your heart no matter how many times you hear it. He brings your hand–which is entangled between his fingers– to his lips and places a tender peck on it.
"I'll bring you some chocolate from the kitchens."
That is how you know he craves chocolate.
Tumblr media
"You two should break up."
"Come again?"
"I said, break up for a day, you're making Prongs sad," Sirius repeats shamelessly at you, going through a cookie bowl.
Remus is ambling down the stairs with a book in his hand. A book which he uses to smack Sirius on the head. He winces, scowling at your boyfriend.
"Prongs being sad is none of our business."
You let Remus sit on the sofa and put your head on his lap. Under a mere second, another hand, belonging to James, plunges into the bowl.
"No matter what I do, Evans won't go out with me on Valentine's Day," he continues to inspect every cookie meticulously, looking for the right one. Your heart aches at the sight, and you decide that enough is enough. You snatch the bowl under his hand and lay back on Remus's lap with the cookies on your stomach. Remus smiles at the sight of you, his hand roaming through your hair.
"Stop sampling the cookies with your filthy fingers."
"They're my only comfort. Give them back," James attacks, ready to grab the bowl back, but Remus's hands stop him. He playfully swats James's hand away from the bowl.
"She's eating them."
You grin at James, visibly smug about your boyfriend's demeanour. "I am eating them, Potter."
"You haven't touched them since Peter brought them from the kitchens."
"I will eat them, Potter."
You don't comprehend what happens next, or you simply don't remember. Maybe James groans and leaves your side, or Sirius starts teasing you again. Who knows? You just feel Remus's fingers tousling between strands of your hair.
"What are you doing?" you whisper, a tiny smile adorning your lips.
"Braiding your hair," he drawls, his eyes glancing at your lips before averting back to your hair.
"You know how to braid?"
Remus chuckles, shaking his head. "No, but I'm learning right now."
"By ruffling my hair?"
"I'm not ruffling, dove. I'm braiding."
"No, you're definitely ruffling. I can feel it."
"I'll comb them later tonight. Sounds good?" you smirk at his raised eyebrows, hearing your heart singing. Moments like this are what soothe your worries and take away the weight on your shoulders for that week. His quiet whispers and tender touch, adoring tone and smiling eyes always manage to find their path to your heart, warming it in an instant.
"Will you also bring me milk and kiss me goodnight?"
He smiles, bringing one hand to your chin. His thumb caresses the skin and journeys to your lips.
"If that's what you want."
You roll your eyes at him, taking his hand from your face in your hand. You start to fiddle with his fingers, oblivious of the beam in his countenance. You love playing with Remus's hand. They are larger than yours, as Remus enjoys pointing out with every chance he gets, but also so soft.
Your eyes forcefully move from your intertwined hands to Remus's brown eyes. In a few seconds, your mind feels his finger resting under your chin. You gaze at him with confusion and affection as he leans in and puts his lips before yours. He doesn't kiss you, merely placing his lips inches away from yours. You know he is waiting for you.
You smile for a moment, your warm breath hitting his lips. You know it puts him on the edge when you josh him, his breathing getting heavier, the black in his eyes widening.
But you relish it more than anything.
"Don't tease, dove," he whispers, and you can feel the anticipation in his tone.
You giggle, your smile growing against his, your fingers running through the hair on his neck. You don't torture him any more, crashing your lips to his. You let out an amused breath when you feel Remus return the kiss in a second, his hands wandering your body.
No matter how long you've been together or how many times he has kissed your lips, it is the same feeling every time. The burn in your core, the desire for more and the joy of his touch. You are too familiar with all these sensations, and yet you welcome them every time with a smile on your face.
"Get a room!"
You are familiar with Sirius's shriek, too.
Tumblr media
Your throat burns with pain, your nose itching with an urge to sneeze, which never comes. You know for sure that you look terrible in your bed, with dishevelled hair, a red nose and swollen eyes. However, all this doesn't seem to phase Remus even a bit.
"You're a mule."
He is annoyed and maybe slightly worried. His eyebrows are furrowed, and displeasure has gained a seat on his visage. He is staring at you with irritated eyes and a scowl beside your bed.
"And you're rude," you say, barely managing to raise your voice from a whisper. It's not your fault that your throat hurts when you talk.
"Dove, let's just go to Madam Pomfrey."
"For a cold?"
Remus groans, sitting next to you. He puts one hand on your right thigh before speaking again.
"You'll have a fever if you keep up like this."
"I'm fine, stop worrying," you say, even though you're happy that he does.
You're happy that he worries for you and cares for you. You're happy that he never leaves your side or your hand. You're happy that even though he rarely uses the words, he still manages to tell you he loves you with actions.
You don't need to hear it. You never need to hear it; Remus makes sure that you can feel it.
"You know I can't do that," he shakes his head, persistent with his efforts. "And you know I can't take care of you all by myself."
You chuckle at his words. For the last seven hours, he's been bringing you warm soup, making sure you're hydrated enough, and he hasn't let you stand up for even a second.
"You've done well so far," you smile despite the ache in your temples. "Remus, it's just cold. I'll be fine in the morning, especially with your pampering."
You don't see the point in visiting the hospital wing for a seasonal cold; it seems like overreacting. Remus, on the other hand, seems distraught seeing you in pain. He doesn't want to agree; you can see it on his face, but he agrees anyway.
"It would help if you took a warm shower, you know."
You smile at him, knowing damn well that he wouldn't let you get on your feet without his help.
"Maybe."
Remus nods several times, immediately rising to his feet. "I'll run a shower for you."
You watch him sprint to the bathroom, and the next thing you hear is the water running. You are lucky that your roommates are not in your dorm room today. Or maybe you're unlucky that you got sick on Saturday.
You slowly start getting out of bed, your head throbbing. Remus comes back and helps you get to the bathroom. In reality, he merely follows you from place to place, as you're perfectly capable of walking.
"You're acting like I'm a toddler," you laugh at his concern, which earns you a frown.
"You are a toddler. Why else would you refuse to go to the hospital wing?"
"Because I'm fine," you grin, getting out of your clothes. Remus watches you, leaning against the doorframe, his arms crossed. "If you're waiting for me to ask you to join me, I'm not gonna do that."
He smirks at your tone, pushing himself off the doorframe. "I'll be there if you need me."
He leaves you alone, and you let hot water embrace your bare skin. By the end of the shower, you feel lighter and better, happy that your headache has eased a bit.
Remus waits for you in the room, and you notice that he has brought you another soup.
"How many times do I have to drink that?"
"Enough times for you to get better," he pushes the blanket on top of you when you lay down on the bed. "Cooperate a bit."
He takes the soup bowl in his hand and lifts the spoon. You grimace at the steam rising from the spoon.
"I'd rather not drink–"
"Open wide, the train is coming," he pushes the spoon to your lips.
"Remus!" you pull your head backwards, laughing involuntarily. "It's hot!"
"You haven't even tasted it."
"I can see from the steam."
"Fine," he groans, huffing at the spoon. "It's good now, come on."
Now that you're out of the excuses, you comply with him. Still, you pull a face when your tongue meets with the soup, albeit it is delicious.
"It can't be that disgusting, dove."
"It is," you lie when Remus offers you another spoon, a bit of liquid dripping from your lips to your chin.
"Let me see," he says, and before you can deny it, his lips are already on yours.
You let out a disapproving sound from deep in your throat, even though your stomach tingles at the feeling of Remus's soft lips on yours. He pulls back an inch, but still close enough for you to feel his warm breath.
"It was delicious," he mocks. "Liar."
"You're gonna be sick, baby," you whisper, your lips smiling a bit.
He kisses you again, this time quicker and shorter than before. "You'll take care of me."
And you will take care of him the next morning because he definitely will be sick.
Tumblr media
You don't feel your legs, nor do you remember how you got to the castle yard. You're in a trance, unable to hear or feel anything as you stride to a distant tree that will provide you solidarity. Anything except the suffocating weight in your lungs and the burning urge in your throat. You want to cry. You want to drop to your knees and wail, letting tears pour down your eyes, allowing the agony to leave your heart with your every cry.
But you don't cry.
You don't cry until you know you are alone. You don't cry until you are sure that no one can see you, no one can hear you. You don't cry until you are sure that you are out of everyone's sight who will pity you if they see your tears.
It feels too much. You feel too much. You feel too much, but you don't feel enough. You never feel enough.
You run, but you never flee. You swim, but you drown. You smile, but you cry.
The moment you see the tree, your legs give in. You fall to the ground, a cry leaving your lips. You don't scream, you don't wail. You simply welcome the tears as you sit on the ground, pulling your knees to yourself.
Your mind echoes each and every word that pulls you too deep into the ocean.
"I expected more from you."
You thought you did enough.
"It's your fault."
You thought you did the right thing.
"You'll do better next time."
You thought you did better this time.
You hear your pained sob, pitying yourself. Your nails dig into your skin hard enough to leave a mark. You want to leave a mark. You want to feel something, something other than the pain burning inside your chest.
"Dove?"
You whine at your lover's voice, so soft and tender, afraid to startle you. You don't question how he has found you. Somehow he always does.
"Go away, Remus," your tone sounds weaker than you expect, full of agony and desperation. You don't look at his face; you don't look anywhere but your hands.
You don't want him to see your red eyes, tear-stained face and shaking hands. You don't want him to hear your heavy sobs and breathless cries. You don't want him to pity you.
"No," he sits next to you, still a bit hesitant to touch you. "What's wrong, sweetheart?"
"Go away," you cry, "please."
"I am not going anywhere, dove," he shakes his head, his eyes glancing at your hands. He knows it may backfire, and he knows you may draw up your walls even higher, but he takes the risk. He puts his hand on yours, parting your nails from your skin.
You scrunch up your face when he kisses the skin where your nails dig deep, ready to burst into tears once more. You lower your head, refusing to let him see your pain.
He doesn't let you.
"Talk to me," he pleads, holding your hand close to him. "I hate seeing you cry."
Of course, he does, you think. Why would anyone want to put up with your bawling? Why would anyone want to put up with you?
You can feel the hatred poisoning your veins, darkening the light in your heart. You know this hatred, this darkness. You know who it is aimed at. You are too familiar with its burn. You know it is going to mock your weakness and insult your very being because you know you feel that hatred for none other than yourself.
When you talk, you want to drown your voice just to never hear it again.
"I'm sorry."
You don't see Remus's confused face. You don't feel his bafflement. You only hear his loving pitying tone.
"For what?" he asks and doesn't wait for your reply. "Dove, come here."
You despise your body for betraying your mind. You abhor your heart for betraying your will. You hate your frailty when it comes to Remus.
You let him hold you close to his chest, sobbing into his touch. His hands caress your hair, his lips leaving kisses on your temple as comfort. Your body trembles under his affection, the tears staining his shirt.
"It's alright. You're alright," his tone hugs the scarred part of your soul. "I'm here."
"I'm sorry, Remus, I'm sorry–"
"What for, dove? You have nothing to be sorry about," he cuts you off, feeling that you're spiralling. "Tell me what's wrong. Tell me, we'll fix it together, yeah?"
You shake your head, clinging closer to his chest. This is the part you hate most. The part where the words line up against your tongue but don't know how to get out. Your feelings mock you, and you're afraid that if you talk, he will mock you, too.
Remus knows you. He has learned you well enough to know that you are struggling. He strokes your back, encouraging you to speak.
"Come on, dove. You'll feel better," he kisses your hair.
"No, I- It's not.." you mumble something between your sobs, and Remus tries so hard to understand you. He waits, patiently giving you the time you need to organise your thoughts, all while embracing you tightly.
"It's alright. Take your time."
You inhale a deep but shaky breath, your chest trembling from all the hiccups. You wish to speak, to share your pain with your lover, but it's just too heavy. So heavy that letters are like a burden to your tongue.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," you don't know you're crying again until you feel teardrops on your hand. "I can't. This is it. This is all I got. It's not enough, I'm not enough."
"Hey, hey, hey," Remus pulls away, taking your face in his hands. "You're more than enough."
"No, no, I-I can't…I can't do better. I need to do better, I have to do better–"
Remus doesn't understand what you're talking about; your words don't make sense to him. All he knows is that your every tear is like a knife to his heart, your every sob is like a hit in the gut, and your every word is like a storm hitting his mind.
"You don't have to do anything. You're doing enough," he says, his heart clenching in pain at the sight of you. "Listen to me."
He puts his forehead on yours, closing his eyes. "Listen to me, dove."
He waits for you. He waits until your breathing calms down, your tears slow down, and your body stops shaking. You close your eyes, inhaling his scent.
"You're enough for me," he whispers, his hands still caressing your body. "I love you, and you're enough for me."
You feel the burn in your chest at ease, the burden in your tongue walking away. You feel your tears come to a halt, your soul finding comfort in his words.
"I love you, too," you whisper back.
"Then talk to me, and let me help you."
So, you talk. You tell him every word in your mind, every pain in your heart and every burden in your soul. You know he can't possibly solve all your problems or take away all your pain, but what he can do is always let you know he loves you, whether with his words or his actions.

Remus Lupin is the type to definitely fuck you while you're reading. Will literally tell you to read him a page, and if you stutter even a little bit...best believe he's going to make you re read either the whole page or chapter, depending on how he feels.
"Read it again for me love, you were doing so good."
Remus Lupin is the type to surely make sure you are completely satisfied when he's fully recovered from a full moon, sometimes not even cause he's the one that needs you.
"Love, please. Fuck, I need you so bad."
Remus Lupin definitely, definitely, definitely the type to cock warm with you when you sleep over in his dorm (every night 🤪) with the rest of the marauders. To which always leads to the most jaw dropping sex y'all will have (which is always duh)
"Shh, love, you have to keep quiet if you don't want them to find out what's happening behind the curtains. Unless you want to give them a show?" THAT SENTENCE ALONE MAKES YOU FUCKING WHIMPER ON THE SPOT WHEW ( i would've died)

She wonders if Remus knew just how beautiful he is under the sunlight. How his long lashes would make a faint shadow on his eyelids. How his sandy blonde hair seemed to lighten by a degree and the golden strands gleamed. How his cheeks would turn a shade rosier.
Oh what a beautiful sight Remus John Lupin is.
It’s taken all of her might to fight the urge and run her fingers through his hair. To tuck in the naughty strands that keep on falling to his face as he continues reading, giving him a slight annoyance of huff as he brushes them away, only to have to do the same gesture a couple minutes later.
Remus was beautiful. His tie now hangs loose around his neck. He was lying on his side on the chequered blanket they laid on the grass. James, Sirius, and Peter were busy play-fighting on the field and as always, Remus would rather occupy himself in between the leaves of his novels, giving her all the luxury to adore him privately.
Sometimes, when he would catch her staring, Remus would blush and hide his flustered smile behind his book, just like the attempt he’s doing at the moment.
“I’ve told you to quit staring,” He mutters.
“But why?” She asks, pushing his book down so she could see his face again “You look beautiful.”
Remus rolled his eyes, “Yes, of course. Thank you.”
“I mean it.” She chuckles “Why is it that you hate it so much when I compliment you?”
Honestly, Remus doesn’t know why. He supposed it’s due to the fact that he’s never been familiar with people complimenting him for his physical appearance. To be complimented on his cleverness and wit have always been one thing, but to be praised by his beauty? That was something new. The scars littering his skin had always been the cause of people to stare at him pitifully, unlike the adoration and esteem she always has in her eyes whenever he caught her.
“Thank you,” Remus finds himself saying, this time with a more genuine tone “I mean it.”
She smiles at him, finally looking down to her own book.
Now as if on cue, the moment she has her eyes away from him, it was Remus’ turn to gaze. He makes note of all the beauty marks on her face. How the bridge of her nose was shaped, the always present curl on the corner of her lips, and that little stubborn hair on her brow bone that seemed to have its own mind on the direction it was going. All the features that form the bigger beautiful picture.
Remus could see her face every time he closed his eyes. He could imagine the way her forehead would wrinkle a little whenever she was reading something she’s engrossed in, or the sound of her giggle when he would throw a joke that others wouldn’t understand, or the warm assurance he felt whenever she would pat on his shoulder. Something so trivial that shouldn’t have this much magnetism for him.
Had it been done by someone else, Remus wouldn’t have bat an eye, but she had always been an exception. The only exception.
“You’re beautiful, too.”
She looks up, meeting his eyes with a smile. The kind that would have Remus melting to the ground, “Thank you, Remus.”
—-
Remus stares at his reflection once more. The new gash on his right cheek was still red. The pain has long subsided but the ugliness, at least in his mind, of its appearance was still bothering him. He’s taken one too many days staying at the Hospital Wing, even when Madam Pomfrey had cleared him days ago, and he has no other choice but to return to his classes now.
Remus has never been more self-conscious of his appearance than now. He wanted to curse himself for ruining his already less handsome face the other night during the full moon. Perhaps he should’ve drank more potion or chewed on more herbs to keep his violence in check, but he’s never won against the other side of him. He was always the losing party, having to face the consequences the next morning alone for the rest of his life.
Now his feet drag him to the Great Hall. His heart was heavy, hand busy trying to hide the new scar. He was scared. What would she think of him now?
“Ah, there you are!” She greets him happily when he finally finds his seat “I was beginning to worry about you. Sirius said you’ve got a bad food poisoning but he wouldn’t let me visit you at the infirmary. Are you feeling better now, Handsome?”
Remus smiled weakly, still hiding his scar with his hand.
She tilts her head, trying to look at him better. Remus was now trying to act casual, taking a piece of toast with his left hand so he wouldn’t have to move his right, but now he has to figure out how to put the jam on. Trying to do it with one hand only made him look more of a fool.
“Do you need help, Remus?”
“No, I’m fine.” He says quickly “Thank you.”
But he was clearly not fine. Annoyed grunts escaping his lips as the toast wouldn’t sit still on his plate. The jam kept on falling off the steel knife and Remus could feel his head slowly ticking as if it was a bomb ready to explode.
Without a word, she took the knife in his hand and helped him spread the jam to his toast. Remus was frowning now. Embarrassed and angry at himself for making her do it. It makes him feel like he owes her a longer apology and explanation now.
“Did you hurt your right hand, Remus?” She asks softly, her kind smile still evident on her face.
“No, my right hand is perfectly fine.”
She placed his toasts on his plate, nodding in acknowledgement. Remus could see from the small glance on her face that she was curious, understandably so, from his suspicious disappearance the past days and the strange action he’s doing at the moment, but she remains quiet. Her kind smile was still present as if waiting for him to willingly explain himself.
But that revelation never came. At least, not in that morning. Remus ate his breakfast quietly, still not budging his right hand from his cheek, and completed his meal in silence. He busied himself by talking to Peter, pretending to be very much interested in the nonsense Peter was rambling about.
“Prongs,” Remus called before they scrambled to their class “Can I swap seats with you today for Potions?”
James raised an eyebrow, “Why?”
Remus put his hand down for a brief moment, letting James to see his scar but the bespectacled boy remained confused, he shrugged in confusion that made Remus groan in annoyance, “Just do it for me, please? Just for today, I promise.”
“I don’t know, Moony.”
“I’ll see you at Potions, Remmy?” She says, making the two boys turn at her tersely.
“Ah, sure.” Remus nods unsurely, waving at her as she leaves.
“Yeah, no chance, mate.” James says at the event “She’s waiting for you.”
“But—,”
“Why do you even want to swap seats?”
“I’ve told you!” Remus yelled in frustration, only toning his volume down at the stare of others.
“You’ve told me nothing. Quite literally.”
Remus groans, pointing at his scar.
“Okay,” James says, his tone trailing as he tries to process what Remus was exactly pointing at “Was that supposed to answer anything?”
“You’re so daft, Prongs.” Remus grumbles, taking his satchel and swinging it to his left shoulder “Thanks for nothing.”
—-
“I’m going to kill Slughorn,” Remus mutters as he looks at the cauldron in front of him.
The varied ingredients for whatever potion they would be brewing that day have been laid out on their tables. Remus glances to his shoulder, James sitting happily with Lily as they begin their work on the task at hand. He knew that he has to take his hand off of his cheek sooner or later but he would’ve appreciated it better if he was not sitting right next to her now.
“Shall we start?”
Remus only nods, smiling weakly.
But the boy didn’t move. His right hand was still glued to his cheek, the other hand folded in front of his chest. He was worried. He couldn’t tell what her reaction to his new scar would be. Would she be disgusted with him now?
“Remus, are you okay?” She asks with worried eyes now, her hand touching his in a comforting manner “Should I get you to the infirmary?”
“No, no, I’m fine.” He says fast, not wanting her to be even more worried.
With a deep sigh, he finally put his hand down. Painfully slow that it made her brows knitted. His scar is out in the open now. He could see her staring at it and Remus swears he could feel it throbbing once more. Her gaze was gentle and kind as always but Remus can’t help but to feel frightened still.
Her hand was still on his arm, giving it a gentle squeeze, “Help me cut the Sopophorous bean?”
Remus nods, flashing her an unsure smile as they begin their work.
—-
When Potions finished, Remus hurriedly excused himself. He was still unsure of her reaction. Was her gentle response a product of her understanding or has it shifted to the kind others gave him? The pitiful and at times degrading stare of his physique that made him wish he could peel himself off of his skin?
Remus now finds himself lying on his bed, face facing down, buried on his stack of pillows. He hated feeling this way. He was just getting comfortable with the kind of compliments she threw at him. He was beginning to feel good in his own skin, to appreciate his scar as his proof of vigour instead of shameful battle scars. Now to think that she might have changed her mind, Merlin, Remus couldn’t imagine the heartbreak he would have to endure.
His finger slowly traced the new scar. Madam Pomfrey said that she would try to make better ointment to heal it but she couldn’t guarantee that it would disappear entirely. Now as much as Remus appreciates the woman’s effort to tend him every time his afflictions cause him troubles, Remus can’t help but to feel the slightest bit of annoyance over her inability to fix his flaw.
Suddenly, a soft knock was heard on the door. He knew that it wouldn’t be any of his roommates for none of them knew any decency to knock and wait for a reply, they would just barge in with no care for the world, so whoever knocked must’ve been someone else. Someone who might not know about his scar trouble.
“Yes?” Remus answered, sitting up now.
“Remmy, can I come in?” Her voice was heard “I’ve brought some chocolates from my last trip to Hogsmeade.”
The boy hurriedly sprang to his feet, dusting off his uniform and fixing the state of his messy bed. He tries to hide all the other embarrassing scattered items of his roommates. Shoving Sirius’ dirty underwear to Peter’s trunk and kicking James’ box of pies that have started to grow mould under his bed.
“Uh, yes, come in.” Remus says, hiding his slight pant from the hurried ‘tidying up’ “Hello, there.”
“Hi, Handsome,” She greets as she enters, closing the door behind her “I wanted to give you this after the trip but Sirius wouldn’t let me visit.”
“Oh,” He says, taking the small parcel with a grateful smile “You need not to.”
“Need not what?”
“Brought me chocolates or to visit me.”
“Why not?” She asked, now taking a seat to the edge of his bed “I wanted to.”
Again, Remus could only find himself smiling and nodding without a word. His hand unconsciously travels to his cheek, still trying to cover the flaw from her.
“Come, sit.” She patted the spot next to her “Why are you so quiet?”
Remus sat down. He left a little space between them, still unsure about his whole predicament.
Her eyes were glued on him. Remus could feel the thousand of questions forming in her head. He too would want to ask questions if someone was acting the same way he’s acting. It was just too strange, too suspicious. Nothing about his gesture was normal and Remus hates that she has to be the one he’s keeping most secret from.
Gently, her hand reaches for his. Remus closes his eyes, letting his scar to be seen once more. He fears seeing her disgusting gaze. He already has that big scar that runs across his cheek. In his mind, he thought that he couldn’t get any uglier than he already is, yet with each full moon he just has to be proven wrong.
But instead of hearing her sickened remarks, Remus was taken off guard when he felt her fingers slowly tracing the new scar. Her touch was gentle. As if she was scared she would hurt him in the process. Remus slowly let his eyes flutter open. He was welcomed by that very blissful sight, of her gazing into him as if he was the most beautiful creature she’s ever laid eyes on.
“Is this okay?” She whispers “Am I hurting you?”
“No,” He says “It feels nice.”
She smiled at him before taking her hands off of him. She was looking down, her expression was hard for him to read and Remus could feel his blood slowly turning cold. This must be it. This must be the time where she would tell him how she finds him awful to look at.
“Can I confess something, Remus?”
Here we go, Remus thought as he nodded.
“I hate waiting to see you. I hate that you’re always sick and I can never seem to visit you whenever you do. I hate that your friends seem to be hiding you away from me every time I want to see you.” She started, now looking back up to see his eyes “But I’ve come to learn that with every wait, every hold and linger I have to see you, it was all worth it because when I finally do see you, everything was alright.”
His eyes softened, completely not expecting to hear her sweet words.
“You’re such a sight for sore eyes, Remus.” She continues “Like waiting up all night for sunrise. Sometimes I wonder if staring at you for too long would blind me, but I don’t think I care much about it.”
Remus smiles as she chuckles on her last words.
Now her hand finds its way back to his cheek, cupping it gently as her thumb caresses his scar softly, “I wish there was a way for you to see yourself from my eyes.”
Remus closes his eyes, trying to melt into her touch entirely.
“You’re beautiful, Remus.” She says “It should be a crime how people don’t tell you as often as they should.”
“You don’t think my scars are ugly?”
“No, never,” She answers firmly “I’ve always wondered how you always manage to get  a new one every time you got sick, but never have I ever thought of them ugly.”
With that, she places a gentle kiss on his cheek.
“I would kiss every inch of your scar if you let me.”
Remus blushed.
“In the appropriate area, of course.” She says with a laugh before turning her mischievous grin back on “Unless..”
“Stop it,” Remus chuckles, nudging on her shoulder “You’re so cheeky.”
“There’s the laugh I so missed about!”
Remus could feel his heart filled with warmth and love now. His gaze travels from her eyes and down to her lips. Oh how pleasant would it be to taste them. But would she want that? Is it safe for him to try his luck today?
“You should go for it,” She says as if she could read his mind “I’ve been waiting forever, if I was being honest, but you do you. Like I said, I don’t mind waiting.”
Again, Remus chuckles at her commentary. He now begins to lean in, trying to close the gap between them as she’s given her consent to it. Their eyes were closed now, heart thumping loud from the excitement and anticipation. They could feel the hot breath of each other fanning their faces as their nose began to touch. But before they could finally seal their lips together, a loud knock was heard on the door.
“Are you guys decent or are you still shagging each other?” Sirius shouts “Can I come in?”
“I’m going to kill him,” Remus mutters, huffing as they pull away “Him and James, both.”
“Kiss me first before you do,” She says with a chuckle.
“Yes, Ma’am.”
And for once, Remus finally cut to the chase and sealed their lips.

Remus knows that it's wrong for him to look at you this way, to even dare to think of you in this way when it's been oh so long since it happened.
And though his Hogswart days has long passed, his feelings for you never really did. Especially since he's been seeing you almost every weekend when the Potters get your friend group together for dinner and you'd —without fail— stick to his side the entire night. He knew you reciprocated his feelings then, now though? Maybe not so much.
Remus also knows that you're friends with Severus —has been ever since you've gotten your job as the Charms Professor, and though he understood —through and through— that the two of you were only friends, he can't help but feel his stomach drop whenever you'd smile at Severus a little too bright for his liking.
But he digress, you were only his friends and he has no right to feel jealous over something as ridiculous as this.
"You'll like him, Professor!" A voice insisted, tone nagging as Remus turned around a corner. "He's funny!"
"For the last time Fred," you sighed exasperatedly, catching Remus' eyes as you did so. Remus raise a questioningly brow at you, only for you to shake your head in return. "No."
Remus doesn't mean to pry, but the look on George and Fred's face reminded him too much of his two best friends —both of which were related to the Weasley's might he add! That he had to chirp in. "No to what?"
George grins brightly, "a date! Can you believe her? She's turned down ten very good looking men (They'd asked for Ginny and Hermione's approval before presenting them to you) just for Professor Snape."
"First of all, Snape is a fun person to be around." There's that pit in his stomach again, threatening to swallow him up and spit him back out. "Secondly, he's my friend. And thirdly, if you're this insistent on trying to find me a date then do it sometimes after your OWLs, I don't want you to waste your time on this instead of studying."
The twins laughs loudly, finding it hilarious that you thought they'd study for OWLs —they did end up studying at the end of the year, but they have a few months left and wanted to use it for something more fun. "Do you like Professor Snape, Professor?"
You choke, baffled at the question. "No, what gave you that impression?"
"Well you're quick to defend him," Fred says.
"And you're always with him," George adds.
Then simultaneously: "Excuse us for assuming that you fancied him."
"I don't fancy Severus," you sigh. And Remus tries not to make it obvious just relief he felt by those words. "I'm just not interested in dating right now."
"Hmm," Fred hums thoughtfully, "how about Professor Lupin then?" He's looking over at Remus now, glossing over the second portion of your retort. "Do you fancy him?"
"He's my friend, Fred."
"That wasn't his question," George says, smirking. "Bloody hell, you do like him!"
Childish. That's what this conversation was. Still, Remus can't find it in himself to not get excited by the twins next words. "Professor Lupin, are you free this weekend?"
Remus turns to look at you, noting how you're avoiding his eyes as he did so. "No, why?"
"Would you like to go on a date?"
You're peeking at him from below your lashes and he pretends not to know that you're doing so by glancing between the twins instead.
"With?"
"Oh but with this lovely, Professor. Of course!" Fred says dramatically, making jazz hands on your left side while George did the same from your right. "What do you say, sir?"
"It’d be an honor.”

perhaps whimsical!reader x one of the marauders (you choose) who’s being made fun of but doesn’t realize it? And they defend you or talk to you or something?
Thanks for requesting <3
Remus Lupin x whimsical!reader ♡ 745 words
Remus watches as your eyes drift out the window beside his couch.
“I think you’d like it,” James continues, unaware that he’s lost your attention as he tells you about the shop he’d gone to with Mary the day before. “They’ve got incense and crystals, all that stuff.”
When you don’t react, Remus nudges your leg with his.
You look at him. “Hm?”
“That does sound like someplace you’d like,” he tries to clue you in, “doesn’t it?”
“Oh, yes.” You give James a breezy smile. He returns it with ease, not a lick of pique about him. “Thank you, James, I’ll have to go. Where is it?”
James’ thick eyebrows come together. “You know, I’m not actually sure. Mary led the way there and I just sort of followed, but I want to say it was on fourth.”
You nod, and Remus smiles at your obvious expertise on the matter. He doubts there’s a shop of that kind that you haven’t been to, but you’re humoring James just to be kind. “Right, there’s a string of them on fourth street. Maybe I can ask Mary sometime and see if—oh, the fawn is standing up!”
You grab Remus’ hand excitedly, turning in your seat to get a better view out the window. Your eyes are very nearly heart-shaped as you coo over the baby deer wobbling to its feet a few yards from Remus’ home. “Oh my goodness, it’s so precious. Do you guys see it?”
Remus shoots James an apologetic look, but his friend smiles and shrugs it off, coming to lean over the couch beside you.
“It is really cute,” he agrees.
Sirius laughs. “You’ve really got yourself a goldfish, haven’t you Moony?” You don’t pay him any mind, but Remus regards him quizzically. “She can’t seem to talk to anyone for more than two seconds before she’s distracted by something shiny.”
Now, you turn, your head tilting like a puppy’s. “It’s not shiny, Sirius, it’s a fawn. Do you want to come see?”
“It’s a figure of speech, love.”
“Pads.” Remus’ voice is hard. “Don’t.”
Your brows pucker at your boyfriend’s tone. “Remus,” you sound almost hurt, “what’s wrong?”
He wraps a protective hand around your thigh, but James speaks before he can.
“It’s nothing,” he says cheerily. His voice drops to a conspiratorial whisper. “They’re always squabbling like this, they’re like an old married couple. Best to do as I do and stay out of it.”
“Oh, please,” Sirius guffaws. “Like you’ve ever stayed out of anything in your life.”
“I’m sure I don’t know what you mean,” James says. Remus relaxes as the beginnings of a bemused smile touches your lips. “I don’t partake in any such childish quarreling.”
It’s only after his friends leave and Remus is cleaning up his kitchen from all the snacks they’d left strewn about, that he says quietly, “Don’t mind Sirius, dove. His sense of humor can be mean, but he wouldn’t tease you if he didn’t like you.”
You pause sweeping up the floor, looking at him curiously. “What do you mean? I thought they were both really nice.”
“They are,” he says, “but I just want to make sure you understand that when Sirius was making fun of you, he didn’t really mean anything by it.”
“He was making fun of me?”
Remus swears he feels his heart fall right out his ass.
“Yes, sweetheart, but like I said, he was only teasing.” He gives you a small smile, but at your puzzled look, reluctantly clarifies, “You remember when he said you were a goldfish?”
You nod.
“That was it, dove. That was the joke.”
“Oh.” You smile funnily, one side of your mouth quirking up more than the other. “Is that supposed to be a bad thing? I’d love to be a goldfish.”
A little laugh startles out of Remus. “Really?” he asks.
You nod happily, resuming your sweeping. “They can see more colors than humans, did you know? And they’re really very pretty.”
It’s all Remus can do to keep from crossing the kitchen to squish you in a hug. He’s grinning ear-to-ear. “Well,” he says, trying to match your serene tone, “then it suits you, dove.”
“I think so,” you say lightly. “You should be a goldfish too, Remus. Or actually, I think I see you more as a seahorse. We could both be seahorses, if you like.”
“Don’t seahorses mate for life?”
“Mhm. Suits us, don’t you think?”

oooh, reader finding out that her name in modern!remus’s phone is something super sweet like ‘my love’ and remus finds out his name in her phone is something ridicules like ‘daddy 🥵’ or ‘dicking down specialists’
"Send me that, would'ya, dove?" Remus smiles softly at the picture on your screen, a photo of your baby cousin giving him a rather drooly, wide-mouthed 'kiss' on the cheek as Remus tries turning away. He's got the most perfect expression you've ever seen on his face, a beautiful mixture of adoration and disgust.
"Mhm," You hum, tapping a mere three times to send the photo off to your boyfriend, "There y'go, Remus."
"Thanks." He grins, then his phone buzzes on the armrest of the couch, "Ah, look, m'girlfriend texted me."
He holds up the phone with something cheeky in his eyes, and your own gaze catches the contact name he has set for you on his phone: Lovey Dovey.
"Remus," You gush, mouth curling involuntarily into a good-natured pout, "That's so sweet. You're cheesier than I expected."
"Oh, please," He scoffs, "I'm sure yours is worse. What is it, sugar bear? Honey bunches? Snookums?"
Any of his further teasing quips are silenced when you resignedly murmur, "Captain Cock."
He blinks, mouth slowly closing, "What?"
"It's... it's Captain Cock," You repeat, "That's my- that's your name in my phone."
"Captain..." He echoes, and you nod, "Cock."
"'Cause we went to see that movie," You wave your hand, desperate to explain yourself away, "The- the war one. And the guy's name was Captain Cook, and- well, when we got home, you... we- uh, we fucked, so I just," You nearly fall silent, barely able to scrape together the courage to finish, "I just named you... Captain Cock."
"A war movie made you think of my dick?" Remus verifies, and you feel your cheeks blaze warmer, a level of heat you've never achieved before.
"Hey! You were the one who put the moves on me in the theater!" You defend, "I was watching a guy's head get blown through and you had your hand on my thigh! Plus," You scoff, grumbling without meeting his eyes, "Morning after, sure felt like I'd been through combat."
"I can't believe you," Remus laughs incredulously, "You nasty thing! All this time you've been my Lovey Dovey, and all you're thinking about is what's between my legs."
"No! No," You insist, ramming your face into his chest and trying to soothe the burn of your cheeks against the material of his sweatshirt, "Remus, stop it, you're being crass!'
"I'm being-! You're the one who's got my genitals saved in your phone!" He gushes, taking your jaw in his hands and pulling your face up to hover in front of his own despite your protests. He holds you there with a delighted grin on his face, one that's wolfish and teasing, "You're a perv, Y/N. Sirius would be very proud."
