ReverieHS Question of the Week: It's your turn to recommend one of your writing, which are you recommending? And if you want, why? Does it have an emotional connection? Did you spent hours working on it even when you didn't feel like it? Did you spend hours researching? Or was it just fun? It's your turn to talk proudly of your writing, go on 🫶🏼
i would say that everything i write needs to have a purpose. if i don't feel invested in a concept, or if i don't like what i'm writing, i can't make myself write it. it's why asks/requests take me a long time to write bc i have to think about what i'm writing and if i feel it's worth writing/sharing. i have tons of unfinished drafts bc i lose interest in them, so the ones i do post are pieces i feel strongly about.
i think "falling" is really great, but maybe i like it bc it's the first story i posted here. i love the professor fic, i think i developed a really interesting/dynamic two characters. i think for me creating characters who can exist outside of their couples is really important. they need to feel like real, tangible people (even h, bc i think in fics he's a character and not necessarily the real life harry styles). it kind of makes things hard bc it takes longer than some might like and what could be a 1-2k word fic ends up being 5+, but y'all don't seem to mind, so i'll just keep doing my thing.
writing here is fun for me. it's an escape and creative outlet that i can go to when i need to, but i also want to write for anyone who wants to read. i like hearing what people like or don't like. i enjoy getting requests and putting my own spin on it, so hopefully other people enjoy it too.
and for anyone who is interested, i'm working on the third and final part of the pregnant!yn fic, so that should be coming soon, you angsty, angsty bunch
sorry if this was long, but thanks for asking! tpwk!!

RHS Question of the Week 🫶🏼 When/why did you start writing? Do you remember your first fic?
I'm like extremely honored to be asked a question of the week. I would answer these every day if I could :) Sorry for the lengthy response.
I started writing when I was in 8th grade--almost 13 years ago I think. I wrote in notebooks that I kept hidden from everyone. There were...I don't know a DOZEN composition notebooks. Each containing a collection of romantic short stories that I based on books I had read and daydreams about love.
When I got my first laptop in high school, I started writing my short stories on that. Then it just escalated from there. I wrote several werewolf fictions (it was the time, ya know). Then I watched that stupid One Direction Funny Moments YouTube video and I said, "You better not like them or you'll be more broke and obsessed just like you were with Twilight." ...So I started writing all about my five favorite boys.
It took me a while to get on Tumblr, I started my first blog before this one--this one I started in January of 2015. I was in college and I was just so tired of being ignored and wanting love. I had a lot of stories about the boys and I just started posting them. If you read the old ones, the POV is terrible and the writing is awful, but I almost think the storylines hold up.
My first fic was never posted and I've since deleted it (it was time) based on a book I read and fell in love with the characters. My first 1D fic was about Harry (of course) stealing the main character away from her current boyfriend. Very angsty and romantic in my opinion.
Thank you for including me in this ask! :)

RHS Question of the Week 🫶🏼 Do you have any creative superstitions like for example you always have to write in the same place?
I don’t think I have any creative superstitions per say, but I do have certain patterns. I like to write before I go to bed often into the early hours of the morning because it helps my flow of thought, especially because there are zero distractions. I also like to write on particular days where I don’t have a lot penciled into my calendar. I prefer to use my phone because I find that I’m much faster than typing on my laptop.

RHS Question of the Week 🫶🏼 What annoys you in writing?
Hmmm..I don’t like it when writers “the older man” or “the man did this or that” and also “the woman did this…” it just grates on me. Major grammar errors where it messes with the flow of the story. There’s more I’m sure but that’s just off the top of my head. Thanks for asking! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ - m

Hi! Personally, if I had to choose just one, I would recommend The Sweetest Fruit (can be found in my master list!)! I wrote that one for fun and to participate in a writing challenge from a while ago. The concept of that particular piece is my ultimate fantasy and it’s probably the spiciest fic I’ve written and I’m still proud of it to this day.
I know you said to recommend one but I have to give a honorable mention to my piece After the Album (also found in my master list). It’s just a really wholesome and sweet story and I couldn’t not talk about it. 🥹

hi!! a work of mine i'd recommend is Glimpse Of Us!!
it might be the least popular of my work but it comes from a real place, it's based on a song by joji and i sorta wrote this piece as a form of therapy? my previous significant other and i broke up a little over a year ago and i'm still healing so being able to put all of those feelings into words was really nice. it was just for fun, no research necessary (maybe some looking inside myself or whatever)
i spent a few hours on it (not consecutively because i'm really bad at staying motivated lmaoo) but the idea had been marinating since i first heard the song when it came out
thank you for the thoughtful questions!!!! love you lots <3

heyyyyyyy reveriehs bestieeeeee
i actually used to write fanfiction back in like 2017, i've always loved writing stories since i was a kid i started posting shawn mendes/hunger games fanfiction on wattpad but swiftly took it down because it was NOT good😭😭 i spent like 2 years writing harry fics before i ever posted because i wanted to refine it and work on my skill. i still have a lot more to improve on, but i'm definitely better than i was !!!!!

Hm that’s kind of a tough question! I’m really proud of all of the one-shots I’ve written because it feels so satisfying to me to come up with a small original idea and bring it to life. Not that I don’t enjoy writing requests and blurbs-I definitely do. It just feels more gratifying to me to complete writing something when the idea comes from me and me alone.
I’d say the thing I’m the most proud of, though, is Lakeside. It’s the only series I’ve written so far, and I absolutely loved it. I put a lot of time and effort into plot planning, doing a bit of research in order to at least make it seem a little realistic, making a mood board, and writing chapters that I was really proud of. And the thing I said above about having an original idea and bringing it to life is even more true for this. Having my brief idea for a serial killer fic that turned into a six chapter story was the coolest thing, and I was really sad when I got to the last chapter because I had so much fun writing it. Even though it wasn’t the most popular thing I’ve written, it is by far my favorite thing I’ve written.

RHS Question of the Week 🫶🏼 Do you have any creative superstitions like for example you always have to write in the same place?
Interesting question! I'm not superstitious or anything but I prefer to be somewhere quiet or with very little noise around me when I'm writing. I have a couple of places I like to write in my home and both spots have beautiful natural light so perhaps that's something I have a preference for as well.
Sometimes when I'm writing a smut part I take frequent breaks to look at Pinterest or I take my dog for a walk (or wash dishes...) - lol! I feel like the small break grounds me a little, and let's my mind level out a bit because it can get a little intense (if you know what I mean) when writing sex scenes. I also feel like the break helps me to mix it up a bit. I can start to repeat say the same thing over and over again if I'm just sitting too long in it. The break helps me rewind a little and step out of that mindset so I can describe the moment or emotions rather than just the actions - because it's just as important to write about their feelings as it is their actions during smut.

this is actually so hard for me because I’m writing so many things all at once right now and I love them all (I just really like writing and get attached to most of my characters).
But I’ll recommend Don’t Stand So Close to anyone wanting a sort of classic age-gap, forbidden love relationship. I like it because it’s been so fun to write and their love story is sweet and idyllic (in my opinion).
I have not done much research for this one. The hardest part/most time consuming is just keeping notes to remember small details and minor character names and editing/proofreading. I think the most I looked up for the story was about all the different books mentioned therein. So it’s been an easy one to write for the most part!
I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I have enjoyed writing it 💕 Find the DSSC masterlist here.
Xoxo
