i don’t know if i’m ever gonna write the fic but i’ve been thinking abt like. the eternal stockade. the implications. lup, a lich who was trapped in a dark featureless cell for a decade completely isolated with nothing to keep her sanity but her own mind. she has to put people in the eternal stockade. how many liches does she see herself in. how many liches started out just like her. how many liches are truly too far gone. and the only liches we ever see other than her and barry are edward and lydia. they’re certainly evil, but mad? they seem pretty sane. they’re not, like, tattered echoes of souls, they’re definitely still people. even as much of a grudge as lup surely has against them, wouldn’t they remind her incredibly strongly of herself? do they deserve to be trapped just like she was? for eternity? isn’t eternity what turned john to existential despair in the first place?

Becoming deeply radicalized against the idea of crewed Mars missions, y'know how the Rovers keep sending back better and better data what if instead of that we made an even bigger one and devoted nearly 90% of its capacity to holding a guy in a bubble on top of it instead of sending back useful data, but wait! They'll eliminate like a half hour of latency and also almost certainly contaminate the landing site and possibly the entire planet, so it's not all downside.

#At least in the near term it's fucking pointless and the downsides are very large and very big #Quite frankly it is extraordinarily likely that the first people to arrive at mars will do so dead #Because they will have been sent by fucking idiots willing to take too large risks #But the good news is that the wreck will spread across and contaminate huge amounts of the martian biosphere #To the point that we will quite possibly never be able to discern the history of life on mars #But if they live at least they'll get to slightly reduce the latency on our telerobotic fleet!#And travel home with the samples I guess #Good thing Percy's tagging and bagging rocks that we just canceled the return trips for #At least once we fuck up the rest of the planet those will be sterile #Kinda still excited about Aritimis but also kinda becoming anti-human spaceflight in general #We should consider not doing that for a while and at most focus specifically on living on the moon in a controlled and limited fashion #Ground the whole fucking commercial fleet who gives a shit those capsules are both gonna get someone killed sooner rather than later #And it's not like we're learning a whole lot by having people on hand up there #They spend most of their time trying to keep the machines from falling apart #Which is the main thing people would be doing for three continuous years on the shortest possible mars mission #Like you could send a dozen rovers for the price of one crewed mission both mass and money-wise #And that's probably a lowball estimate even assuming more and more advances in rover technology #Which are happening a lot faster than the advances in life support technology #Right now we do not even have enough functioning space capsules at our low earth orbit space station #Starship HLS is a fucking joke #The whole thing reeks let's just stop sending people into space for a while what were we really getting out of it

Dick. For the canon isn't real square I am Specifically talking about the Tom Taylor Nightwing run. Usually I ignore bad runs but given this one is ongoing (though about to end THANK GOD and get replaced by Dan Watters who i have high hopes for since i adored his Sword of Azrael (2022) run but i digress) so I counted it. Especially since it's so debated if that run is bad or not, for some reason. I'm a 90s Nightwing truther. I love Dick so dearly and tbh recently I've been more enamored with him the more I read his Discowing era, I didn't used to be as big of a Dick stan as I am these days.

Bruce. Honestly where do you even start with Bruce. I want to fist fight him and also patch him up. He got me into comics and superheroes as a whole but I roll my eyes whenever he shows up in a story. He's a bastard and usually not a good father but also complex and should be dissected under a magnifying glass. I love him dearly. He's also just the worst. I think that's why I love him. I'm always a fan of unabashedly Complicated Asshole Bruce who's generally not always the best person, particularly not to the Batfamily and that being the driving force of his relationships with them, especially in shipping.

And for bonus points, Tim. Because know above all else, I'm a Tim Drake kinnie /deg. He's been my number one for a decade and I've yet to uproot him from my brain. He's literally the Worst half the time and I love him for it. And the canon isn't real refers to Tim Drake: Robin because... that sure was a comic. And that's about all I can say about it. Pre-Flashpoint Tim I miss you so dearly. I think it's fun that I want to put him in a blender and drink the juice but also want Nothing Ever to happen to him.

I truly, desperately need the Democratic party to focus at LEAST as much on the undecided progressive as on the undecided right-leaning moderate.

If you really want to earn the votes of undecided people, or--perhaps more importantly--inspire a young generation of first-time voters to vote for you, you HAVE to fucking talk to them and meet them where they are, and then prove to them that you've got their backs.

Like, yes, I'm voting for the Democratic candidate either way because the electoral college two-party system precludes viable alternatives. But forget the discourse about voting, not voting, voting third party, etc. for a minute and just acknowledge the fact that there are going to be people who are not going to change their minds if all you can give them is "not as bad as the other guy." Just, speaking purely in terms of pragmatism and sustainability, "not as bad as the other guy" is a dead end for a large percentage of voters, like it or not. Democrats have got to do better than that if they want to genuinely improve their chances of beating the other guy -- in this election and every other.

(ETA: I should probably clarify that I also don't like or trust the Democratic party, for the record, and this isn't me white knighting on their behalf. I'm just saying if they actually want to court progressive voters, they have to stop being... you know. Like this.)

I think I'm cursed with ideas and no time to explore them.

i cannot stand the aot fandom this is not a new take at all they are universally intolerable but oh my dayssss u are FORBIDDEN from making ANY take about the show it's actually insane to watch. 'aot is perfect' no show is perfect. 'tell me you didnt get the show 😂🫵' people have different opinions/interpretations about things. 'eren is a good guy they could never make me hate him' i think there's actually 4 seasons and two movies explicitely using him as a tool to show that no one is 'good' or 'evil' they are only trying to survive. hello. the fandom r all so far up aot's ass that they actually discredit its writing in the process and it would be laughable if it wasn't so frustrating

When you have to take off your socks to change into clean socks and your bare feet touch the floor for exactly fifteen seconds and the dry, smooth sensation makes you want to chop your toes off

#It’s awful #I used to think short carpet was bad but vinyl flooring is the literal WORST #They should make socks that are lined with a rubbery nubby texture for people with sensory issues and/or allodynia #who find light or sliding contact painful and need deep pressure to function #This is why my grandma always wore her penny loafers— even in the hospital bed #I know what you were grandma #I KNOW you #She knew the lyrics to every song ever from 1890–1980 and would spontaneously burst into song if something you said reminded her of a song #And her mother used to sit down and read the dictionary for fun and was essentially a walking encyclopedia #despite dropping out of school at a young age because she just absorbed everything she could find #My aunt talks really really fast and for a really long time and constantly crochets to keep her hands busy #and according to my mom would rock in a rocking chair for hours and hours #All of my uncles and my mom are slightly socially awkward and take LOONG pauses between words sometimes #and something about their neutral facial expressions is “off” and guess who else looks “off” when I’m not purposefully grandiose #Moi [frames face with hands]#me #I can’t quite put my finger on it but I look a little too “dreamy” and like a fish out of water simultaneously #Like “the lights are off but someone is definitely in there watching and it’s kind of creeping me out”#And I will also read the dictionary for fun and I also happen to be a walking encyclopedia #Right now I’m into herbalism and mushrooms and psychotropic substances so I will recite paragraphs of information unsolicited #about any of those things #I guess it’s a branch off my main interest in psychology and human biology

stuck in an endless cycle of being annoyed about some of the stuff that was in the trailer and then i see how excited other people are and start thinking "well maybe some of the stuff that upset me could go in a different direction than im expecting. and there was still some cool stuff in there. maybe im overreacting or jumping to conclusions" and then i remember what exactly i was annoyed about and start thinking maybe i was right the first time and then i just kind of feel sad thinking about how excited i was over the first two movies compared to how ive been feeling about the more recent movieverse content and then i get frustrated with how it feels like im not allowed to express these feelings and opinions with how defensive some movie fans get and dismiss all criticism as needless hate regardless of who its coming from or what theyre saying and then i go Okay im normal now . until im reminded of the movie again

#i feel like i should probably stop thinking about the movie but its kinda hard not to wiht how everywhere it is right now lol #it doesnt help that a lot of the stuff that stuck out as not so great to me are things casual sonic fans and the average movie watchers #or people who only like the movies and not the games probably wouldnt care about . so obviously thyere gonna be glossed over a lot #and a lot of people will think anyone whos concerned about those things is just being nitpicky and sonic fans hate everything etc #but honestly my initial anger over some parts has died down a lot im just feeling more . empty i guess. than anything #and also with the whole ''things could go in a different direction than you expect'' thing. yeah thats true. that could happen #but a lot of the stuff i didnt particularly like is just stuff that im inherently not a fan of . like sonic working with gun #its just such a weird writing choice even if it turns out they betray him or are lying to him or something #and also some of the more optimistic takes im seeing are just . idk guys.#i dont think that actor who is already confirmed to be playing a human is secretly voicing rouge #i dont think gun is gonna be portrayed as evil for killing maria when we already know gun was formed AFTER maria died in this universe #sorry .#and this isnt even getting into issues with some of the people involved with the movie
