TRIPLE THREAT CHALLENGE vs HWANG YEJI

when she had first heard the news-- yeji told herself she wouldn’t try out for it. as they days went on however she found herself more and more intrigued. a part of her wanted to try it, just for the experience-- another part of her wondered if she was ready to even try. she wasn’t a triple threat. yeji was a dancer after all-- so she wondered what on earth she would get out of applying.

yeji consulted her cousin, friend and oppa-- they all said she should try. 

there was nothing for her to lose, if anything she would be a little more known? maybe? it wasn’t fame she was after-- yeji just wanted to perform.

like that the days before the performance went by, yeji prepared a song that had both singing, dancing and rapping. the rap was in english-- having lived in the us for three years she felt more comfortable rapping in english rather than korean. there was also the singing but yeji never thought of herself as a good singer, average at best-- so apart of her worried that this song might be out of her range but she mustered up the courage. looked up how to warm up and keep your voice warmed up on youtube, google and naver. in the end she learned a couple tricks that she thought helped.

april 21st came faster than she had imagined and now she was in a line-- all ready.

“hwang yeji?” she heard her name get called and she teacted immideately, “yes!”

then it was her turn, “introduce yourself,” and like that she was faced directly with the ceo of trc entertainment.

“i am 19 year old, hwang yeji.”

short and sweet, that was what she wanted her introduction to be-- then she got into her starting pose. the song started, when it was time she started singing-- putting on a bright and loveable expression on her face as she sang the first couple of lines but then her act dropped. her look became sterner.

yeji put a little more strength in her voice, unintentonally pulling her voice into her chest so it was fuller. making it easier for her to reach the higher notes-- they weren’t all that high but they had been within her comfortzone. every move she made was purposeful and soft at the same time. her facial expressions portraying what the lyrics said.

what came up soon was the rap, it was what had wrried her but she had practiced and memorised them. the rap started and she focused on delivering the lyrics properly. she might have stumbled a little once or twice but overall the rap section passed smoothly and then the end of her performance was approaching fast. that was the curse of only having a two minute long performance-- she needed to catch his attetion in those two minutes, the ceo. so she put on her best act and then sang the last line.

yeji ended the song and performance in the pose, she stood there for a couple of seconds before quickly bowing at tiger jk and the other coaches. yeji put on a bright smile, “have a good day,” she said before being escorted away. yeji put on her jacket-- now all she had to do was wait.

Last time’s project was so fun that I decided to try again! You should watch this video on Yeji noona’s channel too (link below) as she’s the one who had the idea to do it in the first place, but as expected I wanted the video on my channel too! Just for completion’s sake you know, but also because I think everyone who knows me even a bit know that I love Luxe so much! I can’t not have their covers on my channel! Anyhow please enjoy! I hope that I’m able to do Ella noona at least a bit justice!

The moment he had seen the words ‘Luxe’ and ‘dance cover’ in the same sentence, there was absolutely no helping it. Although it was a stranger he had to contact the person and offer his help, even daring enough to suggest for himself to cover the spot of the person he adored the most. In his heart he knew that he could never be as good as his idol, but if he could at least do her just a bit justice he would be incredibly happy. Either way it had been in no time that Eric had somehow ended up being one of the girls, and honestly there was just something different about working in a group of all girls instead of the mixed one from last time. Hyojeong was someone he had become familiar with in his and Minhyuk’s cover of Lil’ Touch, but other than that he didn’t know a single soul. That had however never been a problem to Eric Sohn who had no reservations about speaking to strangers. To the point where Yeji had even had to shut him up multiple times during the entire process.

Although this was Yeji’s project, the boy had been quick to pit in his own ideas fearlessly -- “are we going to be wearing make up?” had been one of them that seemed to take especially the original mastermind by surprise. When he heard that she had intended it to be more of a casual thing, not something fancy or impressive, Eric had been absolutely offended. He could not do a Luxe cover and not give it his all, so along the way he had pressured everyone into making the most of their appearances and going all out. It wouldn’t surprise him if Yeji had multiple times wanted to punch him, but this was one thing he wouldn’t back down on. If they had denied him the makeup he wouldn’t have minded much -- after all it was weird for a guy to want to wear it willingly, but he could not accept them to do this half heartedly. It was all or nothing.

It had been a while since he had time to sit down and play a game. A long lasting fan of Pokemon Hwanwoong had always kept his obsession a secret in the thought that it was rather childish, but after accidentally busting himself on Pokemon day he didn’t see any point in beating around the bush anymore. But ever since he became a trainee, money were more tight and he often spend most of it on paying for bills and food, only able to set a bit aside every month. Today was the day however. Today he would finally buy a Switch.

He had to prepare for the upcoming game first and foremost, but there was also the fact that despite claiming to be a huge fan, he hadn’t even played Let’s Go. Thus he had made his way to the game store to satisfy his cravings. There was however just one problem. The Switch was placed in a really high location probably so children couldn’t reach it. And Hwanwoong was not, by any means, a tall person. Tiptoeing the box was only just out of reach despite how much he struggled, and soon he went back to the ground where he looked around to see if a staffer could help him. Unfortunately it seemed like a girl was looking at him and immediately Hwanwoong’s face became beet red. “It’s--” he began fumbling for words. “I-- It’s like-- The box... is kind of out of reach... ahahaha.......” It wasn’t that he was short. Other people were just too tall.

Lounging in his bed after a long day in the office, Myungsoo pulls up the Twitch homepage and grabs some snacks that were lying at the foot of his bed. Myungsoo may not be a “gamer” so to speak, but he did casually check out some streams sometimes after having to cover some gaming events for his newspaper.

Shoving some chips in his mouth, he clicked around to see who was currently streaming and saw that the fairytv account was currently active. A proud smile appeared on his face as he clicked onto Chaewon’s stream, shoving more chips into his mouth as he watched her. Myungsoo thought Chaewon was adorable and loved listening to her high-pitched voice as she streamed. He knew that people probably thought he was creepy watching a girl so much younger than him but Myungsoo really didn’t have any strange ulterior motives, he just found her amusing.

The smile soon fell off of Myungsoo’s face when Chaewon announced she was going to be quitting streaming to focus on her Youtube channel instead. Myungsoo began spamming the comments quickly; hoping that she would be able to read it despite them moving so quickly.

eyes glued to the book in front of her, minju was struggling to stay focused at the task at hand. it was one of those rare days where minju decided to show up to school, but her mind was far away from thinking about chemistry formulas. the bell had rung not too long ago, and it had become routine for her and chaewon, one of her best friends who was unfortunately in the class above her, to meet up in the school’s library before deciding what after school activity they were going to do.

today though, minju’s mind was not focused on what the duo were going to do with their spare time after school. instead, she was stuck in her gloomy thoughts, wondering just how she was going to survive next year. graduation was getting closer, and it was impossible for these thoughts not to run through the year two’s mind. the pair had been inseparable at hanlim, chaewon being the only reason minju would occasionally go to school. when minju first enrolled at hanlim, the two had immediately clicked, their awkward personalities being drawn together like magnets. chaewon was the first person she had come across in what seemed like forever, who understood her. on days she was feeling especially sad, chaewon was there to cheer up her up and convince her to get out of bed, before proceeding to walk with her to school. wiping away a tear that had just escaped from her eye, she looked up only to be greeted by the face of her best friend. clearing her throat and sitting up straight, she let out a mumbled, “hi chaewon”, hoping that it was not visible to the other that she had been in tears just a few moments before.

Chaewon was one of Minhee’s friends, or something. That was how he initially heard of the girl and he’d checked out some of her twitch streams, finding her an absolutely adorable person in general. He watched some of her twitch streams for a while, before finally deciding to make contact with the girl. He had been watching her streams for a few weeks now and he could see her appeal. She was uber cute, very sweet and like Minhee, had some sass to her, so he obviously thought that they could do a collab together, and he was just trying to figure how appraoch the girl without seeming like a weirdo. he then just decided on the straight up method. he rolled into the chat on one of her streams.

His first reaction upon receiving the mail back had been disappointment. The word ‘extra’ weighed much more heavily on his mind than he liked it to -- it didn’t really have that cool sound of lead role. It wasn’t going to get people turning their heads and ask him if ‘he wasn’t Eric Sohn from that commercial’ and that ‘he was so cool’. But after weighing it with the alternative of complete rejection, he supposed his current role was alright. It was better than not getting a role at all, and he supposed he just had to start somewhere, build up his influence. Who knew what places acting in a commercial could bring him? In fact he supposed that he should thank the fact that he had even been considered despite having no experience whatsoever.

Come the day of the shooting, Eric could feel his annoyance with the fact that he had to spend a Sunday on this rise. Why couldn’t it have been an ordinary school day so he could have been excused from classes for the day? Probably because of how young the actors in his group seemed to be honestly and the fact that a lot of students would have had to be excused, but the point still stood. If anything he could take joy in the fact that the world hadn’t been unfair enough to let his brother film on another day and that they were in the same situation, as he might have felt very mistreated if Dowoon got to take the day off and not him.

Either way introductions had to get out of the way and to his surprise Eric had found a face that he had been working together with very recently for a dance cover, Chaewon, and a face that he was sure he had seen before, Minhyung, or, as he had introduced himself, Mark. It had taken a while to remember as it was quite far back and the time surrounding it had been very tumult to Eric, but eventually he had placed the other as someone he had been in a group with in the MGAs, and immediately he had felt incredibly stupid for not realising right away the moment he heard the name Mark.

Recognition however also erased all senses of jealousy he might have felt towards one of the people who did actually get picked for lead role, because in an instant he had already forgotten about his feelings on the matter and instead started to hang around the older male like a leech. ‘Mark hyung,’ the name had been repeated several times and countless of questions had been shot the other’s way, as had comments on how cool he was and also a few on how jealous Eric was, as he too wanted to see North America. Of course his fear of planes was a minor issue, but he would deal with that when the time came. If the time came. It had to. One day.

Although every actor in his group was still young, Eric took the crown as the youngest of the lot, and although he had already started high school, he had only had half a month to get used to the ways and workings of being a high school student. Even more so the fact that he had to pretend to be classmates with these hyungs and noonas, some of who were four years older than he was and a noticeably more adult. As much as he would like to believe himself to be more mature than he actually was, both his height and his baby fat singled him out, especially next to people such as Taehyung. Perhaps that too was why he decided to stick so much around Mark who wasn’t that much older than him and definitely not that much taller either.

The scene briefing was really to the point and if there was one thing Eric had confidence in it was his ability to make great expressions, so this was going to be a piece of cake he felt. Maybe acting was his call all along instead of his brief attempt at a modelling career, because in this kind of thing he at least got to be expressive, which had been what had them reject him in the first place when he tried to audition. Without much ado, he sat in his assigned position, waiting for the cue to lean in and try catch a glimpse of the small screen that would show the game. He had full faith that he could do this beautifully, even as a mere extra.

Are there moments where you regret moving to a new country? Would you undo it if you could?

"at times, i’m think i’m regretful and then other times, not so much. looking back, i realise how much i took for granted. but at the same time, i made the conscious decision to come with my mom to south korea. if i had of wanted to stay in japan, i could of pushed for my grandparents to take care of me more, but i didn’t. so no, i don’t think i would undo it.”

“ hmmm... ” she was lost in the thoughts of her own mind, ideas flowing to her brain. all that make-up, and how can she make sure its used before they dry up. it took a good minute, but when it did, she snapped her fingers in excitement. “ i have an idea! " she says excitedly, looking at the other with a big grin on her face.

“ usually on twitch you have certain challenges, right? ” she inquires, but she wouldn’t give chaewon the time to reply. “ how about one involving these? might as well use them, right? ”
