What We Learned In Week 4
Pacific Division
• Black Hole Son - Dak Prescott continues to prove why he's worth all the money he asked for in the offseason. Kareen Hunt and Josh Jacobs is the best one/two punch in the league and Black Hole Son proved again why they are the defending Super Bowl Champions defeating Yuba City Sultans in a tightly contested game, pushing their record to 4/0/0; now going home against Evolution in Week 5.
• Hyrule Empire - Russell Wilson kept cooking and gave his team the best chance to win. Hyrule Empire's defense was unable to stop Aaron Rodgers which ultimately lead them to their first loss. You can blame the polls or you can go back into the film room and correct the mistakes on the defensive side of the ball. The offense has this team rolling, but when playing an elite team, the defense crumbled - it's a must fix if this team wants to contend.
• Thunderbuddy4Life - The owner/general manager said it best, "It seems like after that monster week 2 game, it's been like, 'that's good enough for the season.'" You've got the owner/general manager calling out the team in a Jerry Jones-Esq style here, the quarterback play has been subpar at best, and a running game and wide receiving core that can't stream things together consistently. They need to hope Michael Thomas gets back to one-hundred percent to have any source of offense. Without Michael Thomas, this team is middle of the road at best.
• Balls Deep - They can't win. They're injured and depleted in all areas on the field. Without healthy players, this team will continue to lose. Reports are saying Jimmy G might be able to play this week but that is a big might. Without healthy players like we said, it will be hard to find a win.
Mountain-West Division
• Rainelo Hawks - Goff isn't the guy in Seattle. Jared Goff doesn't give this team the same kind of threat and fire that Kyler Murray gives them. Even though this team is led on the ground mainly, Kyler is versatile; he can pass and run it, Goff is a pocket passer and that is it. Rainelo Hawks should roll with Murray going forward.
• PURPLEHAZE - Waiver claims Sunday mornings can be risky, PURPLEHAZE even in a loss found two gems going forward; Robert Tonyan and David Moore. Signing these two guys will help boost an inept offense that hasn't given them a lot of points. Week 4 even in a loss gave them the points they need to contend. Still concerning is the quarterback position, some rumblings around the organization are calling for Justin Herbert going forward, we'll see what the coach decides.
• Ultimate Savages - A tough loss late on Monday night. Ultimate Savages is been playing good ball but is running into what many other new franchises run into; veteran teams that are hard-nosed and ready to teach the young buck a lesson. Being a fresh franchise in the EFL it'll be a learning curve for the Ultimate Savages but Brees will continue to build this team forward and it'll be only a matter of time before they get McCaffery back. When they do they'll be fighting hard for what looks to be a Wild Card spot.
• BroncosTillDeath - Injuries galore, no quarterback, no problem! Odell Beckham Jr. is all this team needs. He did it all and he got the win for his BroncosTillDeath. With empty spots on their reserves to place their injured players on IR and question marks at quarterback, we'll have to wonder if they elect to help build around OBJ or just continue to rely on him and him alone.
Deep-North Division
• LilShupeScoresBIGPoints - LSSBP continued to dominate and get back on the winning side of things. Josh Allen is playing as good if not even better than Russell Wilson. He's got this team rolling in his third season with LilShupeScoresBIGPoints, holding onto first place in their division and with a win over VanillaGorillas already they just need to continue piling up those wins and once again will continue to be a threat to appear in Super Bowl XIV.
• VanillaGorillas - VanillaGorillas rookies looked good in Week 4, they were able to put together a strong outing against Division Rival, Straight Edge Society. Watson hasn't had the best year but he's doing what he can with these rookies, at 3/1/0 they're in a good spot. They'll continue to ask a lot from their young rookie core Week 5 against Hyrule Empire in a 3/1/0 vs 3/1/0 game which will spell big Playoff implication.
• Buds Bums - Lamar, Gurley, and Gordon were able to churn out a win late against PURPLEHAZE. A stellar performance and a big win to push them to .500. It was needed after a tough close loss against Black Hole Son the week prior. A big division matchup in Week 5; they'll need to continue their Week 4 play. Lamar Jackson continues to get better and with this running game behind him he'll always have the play-action in his arsenal.
• Straight Edge Society - It's been a tough few losses for Straight Edge Society. A majority of these losses they could've and should've won. They lost another game in Week 4 being down by quite a bit. This team isn't built for comeback victories, we see that we've learned that. Mahomes and company need to get up early and score often, they cannot find themselves in games where they are climbing up an unscalable mountain.
South-East Division
• The Busy Killers - Delvin Cook was able to shoulder this game on his back, he took this team on his back and lead them to a victory. Ridley was nowhere to be seen and Carson Wentz played his wildest and toughest game of the season as a single performance. Wentz looked battle-tested and stepped up to the call. The Busy Killers holding a slim 3/1/0 lead in their division - they'll play their third division game this season in Week 5.
• Evolution - Big win in Week 4 knocking off one of the two remaining undefeated teams entering Week 4. Evolution did it with Rodgers at the helm, who threw for 4 touchdowns and again looked like one of the G.O.A.Ts in the league. Evolution put together a 43 point comeback and as they get set to travel to Las Vegas to face off the 4/0/0 Black Hole Son's they'll have to rely on Big Ben while Rodgers takes a game off due to injury his knee late in the 4th quarter.
• The Canadian Cripplers - Speaking of the G.O.A.T - Tom Brady threw for 5 touchdowns and had a hell of a game. The Canadian Cripplers still were in a dogfight till the very end, where Mason Crosby was able to seal the victory for these Cripplers. At 2/2/0 they sit at 1/1/0 in the division and still have a chance to win this division with the G.O.A.T going forward. With Cam Newton still on the Covid-19 reserve list, this will be Brady's team for at least another game or two.
• Yuba City Sultans - This team seems similar to Straight Edge Society. They play tough, they play tight, they come very close to edging out opponents in barn burners, yet; they still haven't been able to put together a consistent enough game to get the victory. Their only win was against BroncosTillDeath who isn't the greatest of teams. In week 4 they almost defeated the defending Super Bowl Champions, but again was unable to hold strong late. Unanswered questions at quarterback hinder the consistency, but Burrow looked stout and threw for 300 yards exactly. If they decide to roll with Burrow over Stafford then they have to be willing to endure the pains and aches of what it's like to start a rookie quarterback in the league. That means not a lot of wins. Burrow has that 'IT' factor but it'll be a curve at least for this first season.

Fantasy football rankings 2018: The top 150 players in PPR leagues
Tumblr media
Training camps have begun, which means you’ll soon be in the midst of your league’s fantasy football draft. If you are fortunate enough to have the No. 1 pick, this will be one of the harder years to figure out who you should draft first. Todd Gurley led all running backs in fantasy scoring among running backs in 2017, though that was his first and only year to finish in the top five in PPR scoring leagues.
Over the last two years, no player has impacted fantasy teams than Le’Veon Bell, especially when it comes to PPR. During that span, Bell has caught a ridiculous 160 passes, the most among any running back. Unsurprisingly, he’s been the highest-scoring non-quarterback player during that span.
If you get the top pick in a PPR league, Bell is your best bet, especially now that he’ll play under the franchise tag for potentially the final time, making 2018 effectively a contract year for him.
If you choose to go wide receiver in Round 1, you’ll have an interesting debate between DeAndre Hopkins and Antonio Brown. Hopkins is the reigning scoring champ among receivers, but dating back to 2013, no receiver has scored more points than Brown in PPR leagues.

2017 fantasy football rankings: Top 150 overall
Welcome to the 2017 preseason! To get you ready for your drafts, we've got an updated rankings of the top 150 overall players in fantasy football heading into Week 1 of the preseason. Check out our full 2017 fantasy football preview draft guide!
Editor's update: We updated our preseason rankings following the second week of preseason action. The most notable change is reflected in the adjustment of Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.
Bruce Arians wants to get David Johnson more touches. Everyone else wants to get more David Johnson.
The Arizona Cardinals running back was already worthy of No. 1 overall status in fantasy football drafts when he was averaging a paltry 23 touches a game in 2016.
But … 30!?
That, and Johnson’s stated goal of rushing and receiving 1,000 yards each this season makes Johnson SB Nation’s consensus choice for top overall fantasy football pick in 2017.
Nobody touched the ball more in 2016 than Johnson. No one gained more total yards from scrimmage and no one found the end zone more often. Again … on 23 touches. And with Carson Palmer not getting any younger or better, it makes sense for the Cardinals to rely even more heavily on their third-year back. Arians promises that even with 20 carries and 10 receptions per game, he will not wear Johnson out or leave him open to injury. Fantasy owners will take him at his word and watch the yards and touchdowns pile up.
But don’t despair if you’re sitting there with the second pick. Le’Veon Bell might not get 30 touches per game, but it’s what Bell might get when the season is over that could allow him to challenge Johnson for 2017’s most productive player.
Bell, who will play for the Steelers this season under the franchise tag of $12.1 million, will be a free agent in 2018, and that is all the incentive he’ll need to put up a monster season. Adding to Bell’s attractiveness as our No. 2 overall pick is his potential to play in all 16 games this season — something he has done just once in his first five seasons.
Despite missing four games in 2016, Bell finished third with 1,884 yards from scrimmage – 200 yards better than the No. 4 man on the list -- and was just 230 yards shy of Johnson, who played all 16 games. Bell had just five fewer receptions than Johnson, despite Johnson out-targeting Bell 120-96.
Bell ranked fourth in total touches (336), just 37 behind DJ. Bell was one of just two running backs to average over 100 yards rushing per game.
Give Bell four more games to work with (including two against the Browns) and he can make a pretty good case to go No. 1 himself.
The only other running back to make our Top 5 is the Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott, who led the league in rushing average as a rookie, was second in yards from scrimmage, and finished third in touchdowns. Elliott, who ranks fourth on our list, could miss a game or two to start the season because of a suspension. Elliott looks to follow in Johnson’s footsteps and do away with any talk of a sophomore jinx.
Antonio Brown, our unanimous top wide receiver on the board, checks in at No. 3 overall, as the era of taking a dominant running back first in fantasy drafts continues to recede. Odell Beckham Jr. of the Giants and Atlanta’s Julio Jones rank fifth and sixth, respectively, as five wide receivers crack our overall Top 10.
Unlike his teammate Bell, Brown signed a five-year deal with the Steelers in the offseason and should be motivated to improve on what was, by his lofty standards, a down year in 2016.
Beckham Jr., who ranked third in receptions (101) and yards (1,367) to go along with 10 touchdowns, will have the best No. 2 receiver of his career alongside him in 2017, with the Giants’ acquisition of former Jet Brandon Marshall.
Perhaps the most intriguing player move in the offseason was DeSean Jackson to Tampa Bay, where he should take some of the defensive pressure off superstar Mike Evans, who ranks No. 8 on our list. Evans caught 96 balls for 1,321 yards and 12 touchdowns last season despite being essentially the only option for Jameis Winston. With Winston a year older and Jackson demanding attention, Evans could be in for a monster season.
Rounding out our Top 10 are Chargers running back Melvin Gordon at No. 7, Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green at No. 9, and Buffalo running back LeSean McCoy at No. 10.
Our first non-RB/WR appears at No. 20 with tight end Rob Gronkowski, who will look to bounce back from an injury-plagued 2016. Our first quarterback appears at No. 31 with Aaron Rodgers, as the quarterback position remains one that can be deferred until later in drafts.

Fantasy football mock draft: 10-team, 1/2 PPR
Tumblr media
12:56 PM ET- ESPN.com staffWe're officially in the vacuum of space between OTAs and training camp. Seems like a good time for everyone to chill and enjoy summer, right? Not if you're aiming to win a championship. You know the top NFL competitors are hard at work right now. So, too, are fantasy folks who want to own their drafts when they count. That means taking part in some mock drafts to get a feel for things and work out the kinks, which is exactly what our experts did with our latest mock.
Tumblr media
More people play on ESPN than anywhere else. Join or create a league in the No. 1 Fantasy Football game! Sign up for free >> Following our first one, a 10-team PPR format, we're back with this 10-team 1/2-PPR mock. For the uninitiated, that means your players will score a half-point for each catch they make. You can take a look at the results below to see where you may find good values, which positions are shallow or deep, and which draft strategies our experts tried at this point of the offseason. The participants, in order of draft position, were: Marcel Louis-Jacques, Matt Bowen, Kyle Soppe, Eric Karabell, Tom Carpenter, Field Yates, Daniel Dopp, Tristan H. Fantasy football rankings 2018: The top 150 players in standard fantasy leagues
Tumblr media
The 2018 fantasy football season is almost here, which means you’ll soon be in your league’s fantasy draft attempting to build a title-winning team. That will begin with whichever selection you have in Round 1, which, as usual, will be loaded with great running backs from which to choose.
This is actually one of the deeper classes of proven backs that will go in the first round of most drafts. Le’Veon Bell and Todd Gurley top the list, followed by Ezekiel Elliott, Kareem Hunt, and Devonta Freeman. All of them have finished in the top three of scoring among running backs at least once in their career.
If you choose to go wide receiver with your first pick, there are some worthy first-round options in Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, and DeAndre Hopkins to pick from.
The way this year is shaping up, your first-round pick needs to be either a running back or receiver, as there aren’t any tight ends or quarterbacks worthy of a first-round pick in most standard leagues. Quarterback especially has a lot of value outside of the top guys, and you can get a reliable starter in the middle rounds like Alex Smith, Philip Rivers, Kirk Cousins, and Deshaun Watson.

Fantasy football 2018: These are the biggest bye week implications
Tumblr media
Normally, fantasy owners do not pay too much attention to the bye week period. However, with bye weeks starting in Week 4 and wrapping in Week 12, owners need to pay more attention to when players sit this season. It is smart to be prepared for your best player to miss a critical week.
The last month of the fantasy regular season, 20 teams will have a bye week. Notable players such as Tom Brady, Travis Kelce, DeShaun Watson, Todd Gurley, Jarvis Landry, and Zach Ertz will miss a game in the final four games of the fantasy regular season.
