I really love Relationship-Roman. 

(I mean not with Grace obviously because we are introduced to them when their relationship is already failing which is kinda of sad. Because we never get the chance to know Grace and Isla really. And a least for Isla Roman had a soft spot, I guess.)

Anyway I just love how he is with Tabitha. He’s really sweet and silly with her. He compliments her and seems devoted to her. I mean he asks her how she’s doing while he is away. He asks her advise. He takes her seriously even though her advise backfires on him. He constantly seeks her out to cuddle. Of course their have their problems and in the end it didn’t work out for a lot of reasons. I just love this cute, kind and all around loving person Roman can become when he’s in a somewhat healthy relationship where the persons involved are equals. 

And now image Roman in a relationship with Gerri. I mean a genuine one, in which he eventually officially becomes her trophy-boyfriend (and maybe later on trophy-husband). I mean he would just knock it out of the park, right? He would annoy the shit out of her with all this sweetness and love he would shower her with. He would make a game out of it. What over the top romantic gesture would make Gerri roll her eyes the fastest? And so on...

He would be all over her all of the time and she would rebuke him about it 95% of that time, only indulge him when he’s earned it or when circumstances allow it. But I also think he would learn to be a real partner to her. He would learn to listen to her problems and worries and make a decent attempt to support her. I truly believe he could learn to be considerated of her needs and boundaries given the chance. Because that’s who Roman can be when he’s in a healthy relationship with the right person. 

And now I will stop torturing myself with these useless what-could-have-been-fantasies...

I think I messaged you about this before your temporary exile but I think an au where Tabitha accepted Roman’s spontaneous proposal would be fun to explore.

Oh yeah, I remember this! I love the idea of them actually being forced to work everything out by a commitment that firm, because there are multiple things to work out, but Roman has never actually felt safe enough in a relationship to work them out, I don't think. I like Roman/Tabs for this because I feel like he does trust her, he's just got a lot of shit in the pandora's box that is his head under serious lockdown.

I think she's a refreshing presence for him relationshipwise - she cares, but she's as incisive as a Roy, and that allows her to cut through to Roman at a level he understands, so. She could have well stood a chance had Roman not decided to pursue Gerri.

It’s strange everything i’ve seen of the love life for Roman Roy from succession tells me he is basically 100% on the ace spectrum. Like the man is somewhere on the grey ace-Demisexual side of things.

I watched the wild scene where he tries to have sex with Tabitha and that whole thing is just screaming

“I want to try this but I just need to not be myself to do it”

And I have had this Experience, like the getting into it and then it just shuts off like

“Yeah nope this is, nope no”

like he wants to have sex with her because he thinks it’s the way to move things along (from what I have seen im on episode 3 of season 1 but my TikTok fyp is just scenes from all over the place so)

Like he has some form of sex drive and interest cause that phone scene with Gerri….and the bathroom door scene….like…he would be down for mutual diddles while in bed with someone.

But full on sex I think he gets so in his own head to please his partner that unless he’s so out of it mentally he just can’t really, get there.

Like he wants love and connection but can’t do the sexual intimacy part.

Like I already have my daydream character ready. She’s a normal working person and Roman falls for her, and she helps him connect to normal people but like they both have sever family issues so they bond over that and she tells him she doesn’t wanna bang him and it’s like not needed for her to stay with him. And she also crochets him a winter hat and scarf out of super soft yarn and he wears it all winter long and won’t let anyone touch them.
