Ichigo knew what it was like to feel as if his heart had been ripped out and SHATTERED into a million pieces. He had been through his fair share of rough situations, had been dragged down quite a few times but he'd always found a way to GET UP again-- & every time, he got up stronger than before, holding onto his heart & picking up the pieces whenever it got broken.

There's a slow blink, the words failing to register for some time... was Makoto saying what she thought she was? The words only made her heart ache, because it implied that Makoto was somehow a bad person, someone that didn't deserve to be seen in such a light.

"Mako-chan --" Ami starts, her expression quickly growing serious. It was not a common expression for Ami, unless she was lecturing her friends to study. "please listen..."

Having been completely wrapped up in his own battle, arms growing increasingly sore from every swing of his sword and with each passing moment that this battle dragged on only brought more fatigue to his body, the presence of someone new in this battle was...unexpected.

Even moreso in that they seemed to be an ally - or at the very least, someone not fighting against him. His questions could wait for later, though. Gripping onto her sword, he gives her a silent nod of acknowledgement, of thanks, before once again bringing his attention back over to the enemy.
