FFXIV Polyamory Week - Day 3 - Date Night

date nights are kind of a mixed bag in all honesty? they do a wide variety of things. full disclosure, they don't go to the saucer a TON but they do find out that estinien has a knack for the crane games and come away with a lot of plushies and other prizes ignoring that rowan currently holds over a million MGP (he's saving for the airship mount)

FFXIV Polyamory Week - Day 2 - Domestic Life

these three settled into domesticity fairly easily, all things considered? they didn't meet until right before EW of course but they had a Level of domesticity at least. post 6.0, they're around one another a lot in spite of having to travel to see each other since estinien is in thavnair and g'raha is in old sharlayan. they're usually found in either of those cities, or at rowan's cottage in empyreum. :)

and these are also old/have been posted elsewhere. but here's more of them post 6.0 enjoying the non-world-saving life (i have a lot of photos of them dflkjg)

FFXIV Polyamory Week - Day 7 - Vacation/Relaxation

sorry for yet another old screenshot being used--but it's still very them tbh :)

they travel a lot post 6.0 between thavnair and old sharlayan, and generally don't really travel for vacation. they find ways to relax no matter where they are :)

do want to say a quick thank you to the mods of this polyamory week for all their hard work, and also just for organizing it!!! i really enjoyed all the prompts, and i haven't looked at all the entries from others yet, but very excited to do so. hope everyone had as good a time as i did this week <3

so this a band au i've had bumping around in my head for a hot minute that i figured i'd share a glimpse of. it's not really in a state i can talk about it yet, i dont have a ton of concrete ideas for it as of yet, but...we'll see. sorry the lighting is kind of crap on this one.

i was tempted to pose for the au where rowan is dropped into the high school au of eorzea academy, and i may do it eventually, but this was sticking in my brain a little bit more than high school au

“He’s not done this in a while.” G’raha doesn’t turn his gaze to the newcomer, still watching the other Miqo’te that has remained behind in the studio. Rowan hasn’t noticed the lights being turned off, too caught up in his own thoughts and too focused on the drumsticks in his hands to stop what he’s doing. “Not since you and I got through to him.” Estinien continues, and G’raha spares him a brief glance this time. “…I thought we told him that he’s got the rest of the band now.” G’raha says, voice barely above a whisper. “And that he doesn’t have to be a one-man act anymore.” The only explanation Estinien offers is a quiet, “Well. Old habits are hard to break.”

FFXIV Polyamory Week - Day 1 - Sleeping positions

Turns out I already had this shot that fit the prompt perfectly (sorry for cheating that way, it WILL happen again). Usually Rowan is in the middle of the pile, but Estinien has been in the middle before--it uh. Did not go well for him dealing with a lot of purring. (Please look forward to that in the ot3 fic, haha).

FFXIV Polyamory Week - Day 4 - Role Swap

"Hey, you put me in this getup and now you're LAUGHING?"

(rowan is an omni-wol and g'raha is an all-rounder, so role swaps are fairly easy for them. estinien, however, is the one trick dragoon and sometimes they make fun of him for it. honestly they wouldn't really ever actually get this to happen unless they practically begged him, and even then he sucks bc he's basically a lvl 1 conjurer in terms of skill and experience even if he might be able to use higher level spells)

(also this was just to put him him the silly healer coat)

some additional comments from the twitter version i figure i should share here:

to be fair to estinien for this when it comes to rowan (and g'raha but it takes time for it to happen) he's willing to do a lot of things. and since they're both already dragoons it's not like he can teach. he might try to teach g'raha but g'raha's more of a mage by trade anyway. g'raha would appreciate being taught, i think, but is fine either way. and estinien does feel a bit weird when they go do stuff but they're stuck doing the same things bc he's always dragoon. it's a fleeting thought but it does happen

hello please tell me about estinien/graha/wol dynamic i have NEVER CONSIDERED it and im enthralled

OH MY FRIEND it is SUCH a good dynamic

story time

so, to start off with, how i ended up shipping it in the first place. i have been on a JOURNEY of who to ship my wol rowan with. i started with thancred bc he's squall leonhart coded, but eventually i was pulled over to shipping rowan with g'raha instead. i cannot say no to that catboy, haha. then i made a joke about rowan and estinien having had a fling bc they're the two chosen dragoons of their generation, and then the "good you're alone" bit happened in EW and it was no longer a joke, lmao

but for rowan...he's been a dragoon for basically all of MSQ. he's known estinien since those ARR days, and there's just an inherent eroticism of being the two azure dragoons of a single generation, if that makes sense? estinien and a DRG wol just understand a lot about each other given that they can have very similar backgrounds, and he and rowan just mesh well together. they understand what each other has gone through, haha

and g'raha and rowan is fairly straightforward for most g'raha/wol relationships, though they didn't get together until after 5.3. rowan knew full well who the exarch was (he has a perfect memory so knew the voice, but wasnt sure if he was dealing with an amnesiac) and after 5.0 he had some personal stuff to sort through (he lost his closest confidant outside of estinien, emotional trauma, etc).

and estinien has to come around to the idea of sharing, and g'raha has to adjust his expectations about who estinien is as a person, but they're able to find an equilibrium, if that makes sense? in its most stripped down dynamic, they are this:

rowan/wol is the glue that holds them together. a loving presence who is accepting and basically is just "home".

estinien is the quiet understanding, and the "protector" even though all three are capable of protecting themselves

g'raha is the willingness to push boundaries, the one who helps start a lot of self-reflection and personal growth. also the boundless energy and excitement, haha, poor guy is finally able to go on adventures the way he wants

BUT if you want to know more about the rowan-specific dynamic!!!!! i have a big ol fanfic about them!!!!!! you can read it here!!!!!! i havent updated this one specifically in far too long, but i've been writing other little drabbles in this series to flesh out some of rowan's other relationships. the next big update will be the 5.3 stuff for the rowan/g'raha side of things, and then after that is the ot3 FINALLY becoming the ot3, i am SO EXCITED

i decided to retake photos of one of my favorite poses for these three, based on the famous photo of anne hathaway in twelfth night. i’d loved the original but felt i could fix parts of it. i ended up going back and referencing the original a lot more to get the pose just right. unfortunately...i didn’t save the final poses, so i may not be able to get exactly this ever again. oh well!

“Y-You are certainly bold.” The Exarch stammers, turning his face away to hide his blushing. He feels like he’s a young man with a crush again, nervous energy welling up in his stomach, the butterflies in his chest.

Rowan laughs again, a gentle sound in the Exarch’s ears. He shifts, though before the Exarch can shift away, all he does is bring the Exarch’s hand to his lips and presses them gently to the knuckles. The Exarch can feel them, so soft against his skin--he can feel the way Rowan’s bottom lip was split in his endeavors, the way they feel so warm against his perpetually cold hands. He swallows thickly, eyes wide at the gesture.

Rowan’s eyes are closed, even as he straightens once more to his full height. He takes a small step back, inclining his head politely--almost far too chivalrous a gesture, but it sets the Exarch’s heart beating double time in his chest again.

“Perhaps that was not so bold. Pray forgive me if it was.” Rowan smiles again, the stars dancing in his eyes when he meets the Exarch’s gaze once more.

new house means new ways to embarrass the boys

rowan got his dream house in empyreum this past sunday, and i’ve spent the past couple days decorating both it and redoing his apartment in shirogane!! i had to put up these two portraits in the house, and they just so happened to sit perfectly in the downstairs.

rowan has the most cluttered house in all of eorzea and it’s hilarious.

i think i’ve decided that rowan doesn’t fall ill all that often, so naturally estinien and g’raha overreacted a little when he said he wasn’t feeling well...rowan, just let them take care of you xD

i’ve been varying degrees of sick myself since late october when i finally tested positive for the big C. i’m fine now but i’ve felt poor ever since, and thought this would be cute to make
