be proud of your original characters. it's no easy task to create a character from scratch, to make them believable and real and human. it takes time. it takes dedication. so what if they aren't perfect right away? so what if there are still things you're only now figuring out after time? characters evolve, they go through changes and arcs and stories just like real people do. and it's okay if your character develops over time, you don't need to have it all figured out right away. there are some things that will only ever clear up after writing them for a while, finding their voice, and seeing the way they interact with other characters. but this is your character, your creation, and you deserve to feel proud about it no matter what.

your replies will not be perfect, and that's okay. you don't need to use ten thousand words from the thesaurus. you don't have to be shakespeare. you don't have to put pressure on yourself to put out a perfect, novella-length reply every time you sit down at your computer. this is a hobby you do for fun, not a classroom where your words are being graded at every turn - be gentle with yourself. you are doing your best. applaud yourself for your own passion and creativity. applaud yourself for trying. applaud yourself for every one liner you do, every small paragraph. applaud yourself on the days you only get one thing done - you wrote something beautiful. you did something fun. really try to love this hobby again. no one cares about word count. no one cares about the thesaurus. people follow your blog because they want to write with you. don't forget that.

you're probably not going to be fantastic at writing your muse(s) right away, and that's okay. sometimes, developing a strong & personal interpretation of a muse that you love and are comfortable with takes time, thinking, planning, and lots & lots of writing with your rp partners. however you choose to portray your muse(s) is unique and special, and it's okay to not feel confident in your initial portrayal(s)! remember to be patient with and kind to yourself ♡

Thank you for the follow back! I've been toying with putting my muses in earthly-historical verses but I am less than studied on the Civil War and the Regency era. I think @lvsteternal, another friend, wrote her masters thesis on V.iking burial rites predating C.hristianity, mini clarification. At least, based on numbers (oc and canonical/historical). My greatest number of muses is 18th century/late 18th century/rococo/american war of independence. For that, I ‘blame’ (affectionate) @honorhearted / @curseconsumed, @annastrxng & @historiavn.

@annastrxng - the Anna Strong of all time, also, a wonderful person and very welcoming.

@johngravessimcoe - an excellent portrayal of a most fictionalized version of a soldier in red/green who actually was reasonable irl. Makes Simcoe a bastard (affectionate), without being ‘unreasonable’ war is hell after all. No one’s innocent, not under the circumstance.

@cabbxges-and-kings - she deserves a gold medal for writing Ave Woodhull as she does, enough said.

@audaciiae - the ‘spicy Quaker’ of all time, love me some good Robert Townsend content, those who sit upon the fence are impaled by it.

@neroengland - new friend! Despite the fact, we in the history community cannot stand Henry viii, they understand how terrible he is, as a person (Henry viii and George iii were actually very relatively enlightened monarchs in context of their given times, I’m not condoning either/any monarch, but context matters a lot) and still are able to get in the T.udor monarchs mind and make him at the very least relatable to someone (me) whose a six wives defender to the core.

it's okay if you aren't writing right now. it's okay not to be online. it's okay to take breaks. this is a hobby, not a job, and you should spend your time however you want to, not how others may want you to. don't stress yourself over not being around enough; it doesn't matter if you take days, weeks, or even months — it's okay to do things the way it works best for you. and if that means taking longer to reply, then so be it. people are usually far more understanding than we give them credit for.
