What is the process to become an SI in Railway RPF?

Indian Railways which is under the Government of India (Ministry of Railways) announced a recruitment for Constable and Sub-Inspector vacancies Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) in Level 3 & Level 6 recently. The RPF notification stated that there are 9739 vacancies for the constable as well as the Sub-Inspector posts in the RPF and RPSF. This article explains the process to become an SI in RPF. The dates are not out yet, but these exams are usually scheduled to be held in September/October.

CBT consists of General Awareness (50 Marks), Arithmetic (35 Marks), General Intelligence and Reasoning (35 Marks).

Phase II – PET & PMT:

PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TEST (PET) & PHYSICAL MEASUREMENT (PMT)

Based on the merit in CBT, the candidates will be called for PET and PM in a group of Zonal Railways /RPSF notified. Passing in the PET is mandatory and the same will be qualifying in nature.

 Phase III – Document Verification:

(i) Based on the performance of candidates in the CBT and subject to their qualifying in PET & PMT, candidates will be called for Document Verification.

(ii) In cases of two or more candidates securing same marks, their merit position shall be determined by an age criteria i.e. older person shall be given higher seniority.

(iii) Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and category certificates, verification of character and antecedents of the candidates from the local Administration and successful completion of initial training.

(iv) Candidates may please note that CRC only recommends names of the impaneled candidates and appointment is offered ONLY by the respective Railway Administration.

(v) Candidates who do not appear for Document Verification will not be considered in the final selection, irrespective of their performance in written examination and PET/PMT.

 The candidates who appear in Document Verification phase will be sent for a medical examination at the Railway Hospitals. They must qualify in medical category – B1 as prescribed by the Indian Railway Medical Manual. Those wearing glasses or having a flat foot, knock knee, squint eyes, color blindness, and other bodily defects are not eligible for appointment. 

Training:

The selected candidates undergo an initial training in any of RPF/RPSF training center as decided by the Railway Administration. During the training, a stipend of Rs 21700 plus to constable & Rs 35,400 to Sub-Inspector plus other allowances too. The candidates must pass the final examination successfully to be posted as SI.
