[ AQUA UV-05 / EPSILON UV-ε ]

the first of the bosses! these will be posted in the order that kalani encounters them, which isn’t the same as the universe numbering (don’t worry, I haven’t skipped any)

This version of the Earth has been transformed into a water world through the power of Primal Kyogre, with only 5% of its surface having any land at all. The planet is ravaged by brutal storms and constant cloud cover worldwide.

Water types thrive in this world, and ice, flying, and ghost types are able to survive decently well too. There are a handful of surviving human settlements clustered on the scattered islands that remain.

ARCHIE AOGIRI: A connection with the Blue Orb and Kyogre has changed Archie’s physiology, granting him with gills, webbed fingers, and a tendency to become very easily dehydrated. He is most comfortable in the water, but the meddling of Rainbow Rocket has forced him onto dry land again against his will for the first time in years.

Interestingly, this universe has no noticeable differences from the base universe at all up to this point. Its future is what sets it apart - doomed to be cut short once Cyrus returns.

CYRUS AKAGI: Stolen from the universe in his moment of triumph, Cyrus is still bound to fabric of his universe’s spacetime by the red chains. Despite this, simply existing in an alternate (albeit extremely similar) universe is enough to restrain that power from “universe-ending” to “completely inaccessible.”

don't worry giovanni's persian is perfectly fine, he just doesn't use it for battle anymore hahaha. this persian is currently living a great life being pampered by team plasma grunts back in the gamma universe LMAO

[ PLASMA UV-03 / GAMMA UV-Γ ]

finally here’s the big one! featuring the masterminds behind the whole ordeal.

ghetsis absolutely could have stayed behind in his own world while giovanni did the work of subjugating the other universe, but he decided that he needed to keep an eye on his subordinate, just in case… because despite his comfortable position as ghetsis’s lapdog, giovanni still has a taste for further power. for now, he obeys his king and keeps his schemes to himself.

while this alternate version of colress doesn’t actually invade the base universe with the rest of rainbow rocket, he’s still worth mentioning because his technology is why they can do this stuff in the first place. (and because I wanted to draw him)

As far as the physical world is concerned, this universe is identical to the base universe. The primary difference here is the state of the world, which has been entirely taken over by Team Plasma. A global-scale psychic suggestion field blankets the Earth to keep the population compliant. Under Ghetsis’s rule, the world lives in relative harmony with little conflict and little to worry about.

Though Team Plasma’s takeover was not entirely on the back of psychic mind-control technology, the implementation of the psychic field secured their success and expansion beyond Unova. However, the field comes with the tradeoff of global stagnation in progress and creativity.

GHETSIS HARMONIA: Ghetsis rules over his world as the king of Team Plasma, yet is still as power hungry as ever. Taking Reshiram was not enough, so he sought out Kyurem to further boost his power. Control of his own planet was not enough, so now he seeks to further expand his influence to worlds beyond. He has no special abilities aside from the technology in his cane that allows him to control both Pokemon and people. 

GIOVANNI SAKAKI: Giovanni Sakaki, former leader of Team Rocket, serves as Ghetsis’s right hand within Team Plasma. Any who manage to break free from the control of Team Plasma will “mysteriously disappear” at the hands of Giovanni and his Mewtwo. Now he acts as leader of Rainbow Rocket, the internal subdivision within Plasma that acts as its cross-dimensional muscle.

COLRESS ACHROMA: Colress is the sole reason Team Plasma can keep its chokehold on the planet and travel between universes. He’s the pioneer behind the light-based mind control technology that covers the globe and bends the population to Plasma’s ideals. This version of Colress is blind due to his extensive work with Necrozma and to protect himself from the very technology that lets him control the world.

[ COSMOS UV-07 / ETA UV-η ]

hey wait a second this guy wasn’t in usum what’s he doing here.

rose appears relatively normal most of the time, but when he’s worked up, metallic spikes break through his skin

This Earth has been thoroughly irradiated after the explosive awakening of Eternatus, which now freely roams the planet spreading destruction. Safe havens from this carnage exist in the form of Macro Cosmos’ handful of specially selected protected cities. 

Within the walls of the gleaming Macro Cosmos Refuges, life resumes almost as normal for those lucky enough to be residents. But outside, a nuclear wasteland awaits, nearly uninhabitable to humans and populated almost entirely by poison, steel, and ghost type Pokémon.

ANANTA ROSE: In the process of bringing Eternatus to full power, Rose fell into the core where it was kept, simultaneously killing him and overflowing him with enough pure energy to bring him back again. He considers Eternatus his savior, now blessed with its power - making him extremely radioactive and dangerous for any mortal to even just stand next to.

sorry if this has been guessed before and/or is obvious but!! i was showing bgen to my partner & i realized that camellia's fun fact about the honedge mentions it being somewhere else and. is the final form of that honedge supersymmetry lysandre's sword, by any chance?

yep! that sword originally belonged to the brother of the king of kalos (…lysandre’s ancestor…) and like how az used the weapon to give life to his floette, his brother used it to imbue the sword with death to give him an edge in the war… the result is an aegislash that keeps itself powerful through the life force of those that it kills. as you can imagine this synergizes quite well with how lysandre ends up in the theta universe hahaha

lysandre believes the sword/aegislash is his birthright but couldn’t find it anywhere lol. instead camellia was the one to find it, not knowing its history, and proceeded to sweep her way through the kalos league with it… in the base universe she succeeds in stopping lysandre’s plans (and he dies in the process), but in the theta universe he wins and gets the fancy aegislash as a trophy

[ MAGMA UV-06 / ZETA UV-ζ ]

next up is maxie! he’s now better adapted for groudon’s desolate earth except for his susceptibility to sunburns...

This version of Earth has been scorched by the power of Primal Groudon, melting most of the icecaps yet still ending up with only 5% of the surface covered with water. There is very little cloud cover or precipitation at all, and the tropics are completely uninhabitable.

Most life is clustered near the poles or underground, where the only freshwater on the planet remains. The main surviving types of Pokémon are ground, fire, steel, and rock. 

A connection with Groudon and the Red Orb has transformed Maxie into something less human - though not at all immune to sunburns. His arms and legs are covered with scales and tipped with claws, and he no longer needs water to function. He’s more aggressive and prone to anger than before, especially now that he’s been dragged into some humid island region against his will.

[ FLARE UV-08 / THETA UV-Θ ]

lysandre certainly wins the award for most bloodthirsty member of rainbow rocket. when he’s gone a while without “feeding,” he begins to appear like the living corpse that he truly is, and covers his face with various masks.

A world devoid of life following the successful firing of the Kalosian Ultimate Weapon, supercharged with the power of Yveltal. Little life remains - plant, pokémon, or otherwise - making survival difficult for the unlucky stragglers left behind. 

It is unsurprisingly difficult to keep a select group of people alive after killing off pretty much all renewable food sources on the planet, so even the survivors of Team Flare have little hope despite their preparation. The only ones really flourishing here are the abundant numbers of ghost type pokemon.

LYSANDRE ELISEO: Firing the ultimate weapon takes its toll, and for Lysandre it came in the form of undeath. Despite effortless immortality, he can only maintain his youthful appearance through absorbing the departed souls of others. Even his own loyal team members were not safe from his vanity-driven bloodlust, and now being brought to a universe teeming with life is nothing but a blessing for him.

[ AETHER UV-09 / IOTA UV-ι ]

lusamine doesn’t carry any pokemon with her, but she doesn’t really need to either because of her symbiosis with nihilego. she really wants nothing more than to be back in her own universe and reunited with her beloved ultra beasts...

One of the few observed universes even less stable than the base one, this world is plagued by countless wormholes to other dimensions. Ultra Beasts and extra-dimensional monstrosities run wild, transforming much of the world beyond recognition.

Though some native life still remains, the invaders have drastically reshaped ecosystems much more than the planet can handle. Despite the efforts of strong trainers and human ingenuity, life is difficult for the surviving humans fighting against the onslaught of alien intruders. 

LUSAMINE WEISS: Lusamine calls herself “Queen of the Beasts,” having fully fused with a Nihilego and somehow still thriving. Being brought into the base universe has cut her off from the stolen Solgaleo that she used to create countless wormholes in her own world, so she poses no threat to the Earth in an extra-dimensional sense.

Hey, I noticed that you mentioned that Zekrom was in its stone form in the Plasma universe and that Team Plasma was attempting to awaken it in order to fuse it with their Kyurem or something like that. But isn't Kyurem always shown to forcibly turn the other members of the Tao trio back into their stone form before then fusing with them?

achieving the full complete form of chowarim is a little different than just filling kyurem halfway!

yes, for any form of kyurem to fuse with either of the other two dragons they have to be in stone form (same method to go from base form -> white/black kyurem -> chowarim. tldr you are what you eat). but the formation of chowarim requires that all three of the components have a shared goal/desire/motivation in mind, whether that's genuine or mind controlled or what. so the reason zekrom being locked in stone form poses an issue for ghetsis in the gamma universe is because, well, it's a bit hard to put a photon visor on a rock and have that work? nor does zekrom want to come out of stone form either hahaha. they don't know about the shared-intent requirement for chowarim in the plasma universe, so just trying to get white kyurem eat the dark stone doesn't do anything...
