ADRIA ARJONA, CISFEMALE, SHE/HER -——- cassidy venture has been identified as a twenty-eight year-old resident with sense manipulation. their files indicate that they work as an assistant, and may be closely linked with the underground. they are known to be loyal and dishonest, and knew the deceased because she was his assistant and his spy.
Basic Bio
She wasn’t much of anyone before she met Raúl. She was the fourth child of five and her parents didn’t have much. Mutants weren’t common in their family and her powers triggered many questions from her father, who insisted that her mother had an affair with someone. Most of her siblings were scoundrels, loyal to none but their own, and more than willing to let someone else take the fall for something they did. Manipulation was something they all knew well.
Gang--and the Underground--activity was common in her neighborhood, the place most people preferred to avoid. Her elder siblings fell into place in the gang established in her apartment building long before she even knew what a gang was. She joined them more so through association than any conscious decision. One minute she was Adam’s little sister, the next she was sent out as a scout for drug runs.
Raúl found her while she was in the middle of a job. Their brief conversation led to an offer: work for him and he would use more with her gifts than petty theft. She didn’t believe him, despite the positive words that swarmed around him. But she took the offer anyway. As far as her gang knew, she was a liaison, working for Raúl as he secretly funded their more dangerous operations and letting them know his secrets. But she really told Raúl of their plans and listened in where he wanted her.
He delivered on his promise to her. As one of his many assistants, he was able to give her a good salary that most people mistook as a sign of his generous nature. And after a few years, he had done more to earn her loyalty than any gang member.
His death has left her unsure of her place between the two worlds and a fear that her gang might call for her back. She’s grown used to the pampered life Raúl has given her and she had no intention of ever going back to who she was.
Powers
Sense Manipulation: She can alter anyone’s main five senses, increasing or decreasing them as much as she wants. Her use of her powers are usually subtle to people who aren’t her, marked by your sense of hearing being a bit dulled or your eyes being a bit blurry (from tiredness most assume). For herself, her ears are always more sensitive (picking up on conversations from across rooms) and her eyes are much better as well.
Range: She can affect anyone she could physically see (sometimes even with the use of cameras if she is confident of their position in the room). She doesn’t have to maintain eye contact with that person; they just have to remain visible to her. The minute she can no longer see a person, her hold dissipates, slowly returning to where the sense originally was. Obviously, with improved vision, her range with this power tends to vary.
Likelihood of Discovery: It would be unlikely for anyone to notice that she is using her powers since she has long trained to have a subtle touch with it. Only the acutely aware would notice her manipulations and of them, very few could recognize that it’s her doing it.

TYLER HOECHLIN, MALE, HE/HIM -——- grant flag has been identified as a thirty one year-old resident with no powers. their files indicate that they work as an author/investigative journalist, and have no affiliation. they are known to be resourceful and impulsive, and knew the deceased because he was investigating a possible connection between him and the underground.
Background
Grant grew up as a military brat, he, his mother and his younger sister being dragged around the country after his father as he was constantly stationed somewhere new. It meant that he never really had much chance to socialise with others his age beyond his sister, mostly he just spent time in his room reading anything that he could get his hands on. This meant that from a young age he had quite an interest in a range of various genres, though his favourites were always those that veered towards non-fiction.
During his teens he spent a lot of time writing, though nothing substantial came from this time period it did build up enough of a portfolio that by the time he applied for a job in a local paper he was able to score himself an internship with a prestigious reporter. He quickly moved up the ranks over the years with a lot of determination, mostly by throwing himself into dangerous situations in order to investigate for his articles and it quickly became apparent that Grant would do whatever he needed to in order to get to the truth of the situation, and he always did no matter who it upset on the way.
With the rest of his family finally settled in Diamond City all seemed good, and then his sister was killed in an “accident” which completely devastated the family. With Grant’s new status as a sleuth reporter something for him never added up about the police reports and the story they were being fed. In his grief he threw himself into the investigation which let his career as a reporter slip, but he knew that this was something he needed to do in order to honour his sister. In the end he managed to uncover a whole conspiracy that his sister had been killed in a power battle between two powered individuals, of which had links to the rumblings of an underground and to Raul Suraez.
Keeping the last two facts to himself Grant worked on a book about the murder and it’s cover up, managing to get a publishing deal through a contact of his mentor that he’s sure helped when it came to the soaring sales. Though it wasn’t all cheery, his mother was furious that he had taken the family tragedy and turned it around to further his career and make money, in the end she refused to take any of his offered profits and has refused to speak to him since. Grant has had to deal with the estrangement from his parents while smiling on book tours, interviews and while accepting his Pulitzer prize for his work.
Throwing himself back into his work Grant accepted a job at the Diamond City Gazette as a cover for what he considers to be his real purpose; looking into this supposed connection between Raul and this underground. He has always been somewhat reckless with his life when investigating but now somehow he’s dangerously worse, fully aware he has no powers to help protect him in a world full of powered people and yet he’s more determined than ever to get to the bottom of it all even if it kills him.

ROSA SALAZAR, FEMALE, SHE/HER -——- ridley shaw has been identified as a twenty five year-old resident with portal creation/manipulation. their files indicate that they work as a professional ballerina, and have no affiliation. they are known to be intelligent and stubborn, and knew the deceased because her parents were friends of his and invested their money in the heroes union.
Background
Ridley’s family came from money and her childhood was filled by being more of a prop for her parents to show off her accomplishments to their friends rather than any real quality time, she was enrolled into anything that she showed even a slight amount of competence for. Though many of these activities fell short, varying from the violin to ice skating, there were a few that did manage to stick. It quickly became apparent that the young Ridley showed great promise for ballet and so her parents dropped all her other extra curricular activities and nurtured her talent with only the best ballet academies and teachers that money could buy.
Of course her ballet wasn’t the only thing that the Shaw’s funnelled their money into, charmed by Raul and his initiative they were more than happy to make it known they were donating funds, further encouraging their daughter to represent their family by being an active part of the heroes union. And for years that is exactly what she did, under the alias ‘Blink’ as a young hero Ridley’s days were either filled with whatever she could do to please her parents and their high standards and very little for herself.
And then the unthinkable happened, after donating into yet another project easily convinced again by Raul not even hours later it was all gone. The entire Shaw fortune had vanished and no one seemed to be able to work out how or who had done it. In the midst of their financial fortunes Ridley was handed what she considered to be a golden ticket, offered a scholarship for her ballet in New York. Leaving behind her parents to pick up the pieces of their lives Ridley packed up and left without much of a thought about them or the heroes union.
Six years passed in New York, the relationship with her parents grew to be civil though somewhat restrained and their few visits were very much centred around her larger achievements. Ridley was beyond thrilled to be accepted into the prestigious New York City Ballet company shortly after graduating, it had grown beyond her parents drive and become her passion in life to thrive as a professional ballerina, her time as a hero long since forgotten.
She was forced to step away from that life and return to Diamond City when she was informed that her father had become seriously ill, and though her parents had steadied themselves financially it was nothing close to what they used to have and so needed Ridley’s help to fund his care. She was eagerly accepted into the Diamond City Ballet Company and quickly became a poster girl since she had links to one of the foremost dance companies in the world, and for the most part Ridley didn’t mind though part of her didn’t feel like she had earned the honour. Though it certainly meant a good paycheck which helped her parents and allowed for her to keep her own apartment in a comfortable lifestyle.
Since returning Ridley kept her distance from the Heroes Union even before Raul’s death, sure deep down that both he and the initiative had something to do with the Shaw’s going bankrupt. Now with all the rumours swirling around she is even more sure of it, though without proof there is little more she can do.
Portal Creation & Manipulation
“The power to create portals for transport between two non-adjacent locations  The user can create, shape and manipulate portals, allowing them control portal size, location/destination, etc.”
When Ridley’s powers first manifested it was fair to say it often ended with disaster, mostly in her sleep she would dream of a location and when she woke found that she had transported herself and sometimes half of her room there with her. It was strange for a good few years as she tried to curve this nighttime disappearing act, especially as she found that during the day she struggled to make a portal any bigger than an apple. With time and practice Ridley managed to get control over her abilities and learn exactly what she could and could not do. Eventually the nighttime mishaps became infrequent, and now they are only the result of bad dreams when Ridley is particularly vulnerable and loses control. It did mean that Ridley was able to travel places without any need for vehicles or other public transport, though if she hasn’t been to a place before her landing spot can sometimes be a little tricky.

** honestly I’m awful at having open plots so pls just hit me up either on here or discord if you would like to plot with Ridley!! **

NOAH CENTINEO, CISMALE, HE/HIM -——- rowan oakrest has been identified as a twenty-two year-old resident with fire and ice manipulation powers their files indicate that they work as a comic shop clerk/student, and have no affiliation. they are known to be caring and reckless, and did not know the deceased.
Background
He comes from Antelia, Missouri, a town with a population under 1000.
He’s an only child, but had neighbors around his age that were basically like his siblings.
Both of his parents work in agriculture, and he spent a lot of time on a farm with his maternal grandparents.
In the summer, he helped out around the farm for a bit of allowance money. (Most of it was spent on comics and games.)
In his junior year of high school, his grandmother and grandfather passed away within a few months of each other, so his grades in school slipped. Around this time, he also got his first taste of depression.
Around the middle of his senior year was when his powers developed, and, while it was cool as fuck, he definitely scared people in the community.
Rowan did his best to keep his powers in check, though there were a few accidents with fire that he doesn’t like to talk about.
He got a job in town as a librarian.
He had always dreamed of being a hero, so when learning about the Heroes Union, he saved his money to move out to California.
After moving to Diamond City, he found a job and started learning about being a hero in his free time.
He’s trying his best to go to school and work, but his grades are definitely slipping.
Personality
Rowan is legitimately always on the move, and definitely has a short attention span.
He’s easily excitable about most things, especially animals, board games, and comics.
He’s generally happy and wearing a smile most of the time.
Rowan is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he gets by.
He’s also grossly optimistic, almost to a fault.
This boy is also super reckless and doesn’t think a lot of things through. Like, if he saw a superhero battle, he’d probably drop what he was doing and join without hesitation.

MENA MASSOUD, MALE, HE/HIM -——- zaki faruq has been identified as a twenty seven year-old resident with telekinesis and invisibility. his files indicate that he works as an actor and may be closely linked with the heroes union. he is known to be charming and ingenuous, and did not not know the deceased. ( nat, she/her, 18, gmt )
so here’s my second muse. hope you’ll plot with us!
zaki was born to a life of wealth and privilege. his parents were egyptian millionaires and he was a wildly popular teen heartthrob. he crossed over to hollywood successfully, hence him moving to america.
having powers makes stunts easier, heh. and when he played a role in this universe that’s similar to aladdin, it made the “special effects” all too realistic. but his power to turn invisible has always been volatile and harder for him to control.
on one hand, sudden invisibility gives him perspective. no one bends over backwards to kiss his ass or baby him when no one can see him. that helps him improve as a person, which is something he wants to do. it’s why he’s getting involved with the heroes union.
i headcanon him as having a wife now. or maybe a girlfriend. ideally, a woman of colour. please hit me up if you wanna give him a wife/gf who’s a woc!
he’s not dumb, but he’s naive. very sheltered.
he was visiting for the gala when raul died.
please plot with us!

the final chara of the trio for Karo and it’s... Anna Castillo!! also known as Sels, to those who dub her a hero in the heroes union.
Anna Castillo has been identified as a twenty five year-old resident with psionic weapon manifestation. their files indicate that they work as a bartender, and may be closely linked with the heroes union. they are known to be honest and brash, and knew the deceased because he had inspired her to join the heroes union.
History
Her dad was a police dad, and he raised her on his own. She doesn’t remember her mother much. But it was ok. They had a good working relationship and he was always super supportive of Anna.
High school happened and suddenly she tried to cut bread with a a psionic butter knife. They threw away the toaster.
She graduated and hopped majors for a while until she heard about the heroes union.
Then it was just a matter of dropping out of college and joining up. Her dad was skeptical at first, and before she joined the union, he had her help out with the police station to get some practice (under the identity of an anonymous consultant).
Someone called her a Sellsword one day and the nickname Sels just became a thing.
She eventually joined the Heroes Union officially, and ended up being kind of the liaison between the union and whatever official security agency they worked with.
She also took up a job as a bartender when she turned twenty because she wanted to move out and get her own apartment.
Personality
Has this tendency to curse someone out from across the street if they piss her off and then promptly trip over whatever obstacle she wasn’t paying attention to.
Hates lying and liars.
Such a stickler for the rules. Lawful good. Occasionally can border Neutral Good if she’s flying in a rage of some sort.
Blunt. Will not hold back insults.
Keeps some of the sketchy customers of the bar off her back.
Also mostly amuses her dads police force. They’re all on good terms. She was basically raised by them so they all know that the weird hero who sometimes helps them is totally Anna. No one’s gonna tell on her though.
Powers
Psionic Weapon Manifestation: Essentially, she can create any weapon she wants out of psychic energy. All her weapons end up with a weird reddish glow around them. Mostly, she sticks with swords because they’re pretty simple to form. But if she really concentrated hard enough, she could build more complex objects.
Wanted Connections
The Regular: They come into the bar all the time. Whether they’re a bother or a friend is entirely up to their personalities. The Nuisance: She doesn’t like them. Maybe they have different views on morality or whatever, but she’ll just barely tolerate them if they have to be near each other. The Besties: She needs a girl squad. Please. I love them so much. Just a bunch of girls kicking ass. The Push-Pull: Are they absolute arch-enemies or are they a married couple? They’ve probably been married for like five years and both of them are just in denial.

aaand Karo is back with miss Euna Young, slightly unhinged little chaos girl but still here for all the science that she can do in the world.
euna young has been identified as a twenty four year-old resident with chaos and memory manipulation. their files indicate that they work as a research intern, and may be closely linked with the underground. they are known to be energetic and cruel, and knew the deceased because they were privately funded to conduct illegal research.
History
Grew up a spoiled rich girl. Extremely eccentric, especially for someone who came from a family of old money.
Her parents tried to send her to finishing school for junior and senior year of high school but that didn’t work out in their favor.
Instead, Euna found out she could explode things via chaos manipulation, and make the other girls think that they did it instead of her.
Also she figured out that she really liked dissecting things.
So she skipped town to her grandparents house in Diamond city and got a job from a weird shady company that let her do science as long as she kept it on the down low.
Personality
Can and will dissect things at all times.
Not subtle at all.
Definitely doesn’t care that much about societal norms.
If she’s talking and you start to walk away she will yell and throw a fit.
Uses the uwu emoji too many times a day.
Honestly it seems like her sole purpose in life is to annoy you.
Doesn’t like being told not to do something. There are exactly two people who can tell her what to do and she annoys them both to no end. Probably.
Powers
Chaos Manipulation: It’s like she can focus the amount of entropy in a single area, increasing its state of disorder and maxing it out to the point where it looks like something glitched out. She also constantly draws entropy from her surroundings, and that’s what she expels when she uses her powers.
Memory Manipulation: A little trickier? It’s mostly subtle shifts in someone’s memory, because the human brain puts up some red alert flags if she tries to change it into something totally incorrect. Damn human biology. But for the most part, she uses it to erase herself from situations that people saw her doing something illegal. She also uses it to keep her reputation with her grandparents good.
Wanted Connections
Significant Annoyance: somehow she’s managed to get on their nerves. How? Easier than you might think. She exists. Significant Obsession: Hi yes somehow she’s got it into her head that she’s dating this person despite all protests of the other party. Significant Priority: The one person that she’ll actually genuinely care about ever. Good morning and good luck if you ever harm this person because she will come after you with a vengeance.

Hey everyone! It’s me, Karo with the blue boy Caden Santos. Various iterations of him have culminated into this particular version of him, so here’s a few things to know about him.
Caden Santos has been identified as a twenty nine year-old resident with empathic abilities. their files indicate that they work as a highschool english teacher, and have no affiliations. they are known to be patient and passive, and did not know the deceased.
History
Parents divorced when he was like, nine. His dad remarried and he has three half-sisters that he really loves very much.
Emotionally distant from both his dad and his step mom, and he hasn’t heard a damn thing from his actual mom in like. Twenty years.
Instead of being an angry child about everything he ended up being an absolute doormat. Zero sense of self preservation.
His powers kicked in at 17, when all of a sudden he could feel everything from everyone around him and he freaked out.
Ran away in fear of what might happen, but they found him a year later under the impression that he ran because they’d been so emotionally distant.
He never told them about his empathic abilities
After experimenting with his abilities, he figured out that he could use them to help other kids and so he decided to become a high school teacher.
After college he moved to Diamond City and snagged a job as a High School English teacher.
Personality
Patient to the point where it’s kind of like. Why do you tolerate this person?
Passive in that he definitely really couldn’t care less what you do as long as he can figure you out in the end. (His philosophy is that as long as there’s a reason then it’s probably for the good of someone)
May or may not be obsessed with getting people to like him. With good reason tbh.
Soft. Very. Likes hugs. Tactile as f u c k.
He does this thing where he’ll ask questions if he thinks something is morally wrong and try to point it out via that.
If that doesn’t work and it turns out there’s a good solid reason for it then he’ll just look kind of sad.
He does hate getting super emotional. It makes his powers get wildly out of control so he’ll try to stay pretty calm.
Definitely the type of person to attempt to logic his way out of drama.
Powers
Empathic Detection: Caden can pick up all emotional sensations, as well as certain strong physical ones like extreme pain in the form of phantom sensations. For instance, anger might be a burning in his chest, or happiness as a bubbling in his throat. He can only pick up sensations within a radius, which depends on his own emotional state. Most times, at his baseline, it reaches 7 feet. Out of control, reaching up to 12 feet, and focused it can retract to 3 feet around him. It never completely disappears unless he’s sleeping.
Empathic Projection: Much like detection, it only affects people in a certain radius (usually two feet below his detection radius). It has the opposite affect, in which he can project his own emotions onto other people within this radius. They’ll pick it up not as signals for happiness or sadness or whatever, but rather as those physical phantom sensations. For instance, if Caden feels a *choking* guilt, it might project onto someone else as *choking*, but they might interpret it for themselves as nervousness or sadness.
Empathic Connection: Both Empathic Detection and Projection, but on a specific person. Connections are hard to forge and if/when they break is extremely painful to Caden. It doesn’t matter if the person is far on the other side of the world, if Caden has an Empathic Connection to them, he’ll be able to sense their emotions as if they were right next to him, and they can sense his as well.
Wanted Connections
Professional Hugs: He likes hugs. Let him hug. Please. Sibling-esque: Caden grew up basically raising his siblings. That’s a hard habit to break. Intense Confusion: The one person that he just can’t seem to figure out. So he’s intrigued.. Burdens of Burdens: He will need someone to just. Emotionally stress to. Anyone willing? Tea for Two: Coffee doesn’t sit well with him. Tea is better. Or juice. Keep him company. Same Soul: An Empathic Connection that gets perhaps a bit too close for Caden’s comfort.

SUMMER BISHIL, FEMALE, SHE/HER -——- sonia ghani has been identified as a twenty seven year-old resident with barbed wire conjuring/manipulation. their files indicate that they work as a/an bar owner, and may be closely linked with the underground. they are known to be charismatic and domineering, and knew the deceased because he tried to bug her bar & she threatened his life in response. ( kaz, she/her, 21, gmt )
hi darlings!     i’m kaz,   someone whom, at some point,  is going to have to bench this character & come up with a new mutant babe.    until that point,   i’d like to present to you: sonia ghani.   my barbed wire wielding qt that is the product of my over active imagination.  i’m sorry in advance.
so sonia was born  ‘sonali gahir’ in a  slum known as dharavi in mumbai. her parents didn’t have a lot of money but sonia was used to it growing up.   she was about eleven when her mutation first appeared as like an itching under the skin, then she woke up like surrounded by barbed wire.  her dad got all freaked out  and  was drunkly slurring about it in a bar when a man overheard.  this man offered him money for his daughter and he took it bc A+ parenting.
the man ran a human-ran mutant fighting ring called ‘gods & monsters’  they trained sonia to use her mutation and nicknamed her haywire. she was there for about a decade, being raised to fight and occasionally kill other mutants.  there were other crimes committed through the group though and the man who ran it liked to use his mutants as muscle.   then there was a deadly accident with a young mutant and all the humans who ran the ring ditched , leaving the mutants to all be arrested.
sonia was in prison for a year before she escaped with the help of the guy who ran the ring. he had a weird little obsession with his ‘most powerful’ so he got her out  and got her to america where he was laying low in an empty bar he owned.  when she got there he helped her get fake documents, changed her name to sonia ghani and gave her the bar to own. he expected her to be grateful.   she actually attacked him until he fled, leaving him with a whole bunch ‘o’ scars.
her bar, which she renamed  ‘ rogue ’  is mainly designed for mutants looking for a place to lay low or let of steam.  it’s kind of an unwritten rule.   she has a tough male mutant bartender who acts like the owner in order to keep her name off things.   most people think he’s in charge unless they know sonia.   it’s not unheard of for sonia to run dodgy things through the bar,   it is kinda all she knows.   hence why she has ties with the underground.
raúl found out about the bar and offered money to have them spy on mutants for him. when they declined he bugged the bar.  when sonia found that, she almost killed him, threatening his life with her barbed wire.
her powers are awesome.  it’s like that scene from the first silent hill film with all the barbed wire around the hospital bed thing ( why tf did they do a second one? )  but yeah,  she can produce masses of barbed wire from her skin.  she’s desensitised to it all so it doesn’t hurt her.   i think this was the product of a fever dream or something. idk.
is gay af.
has a bit of a disliking for humans bc they were the ones who ran the fighting ring.
queen of ‘is this a bad time for a joke.’
takes nothing but simultaneously takes everything seriously.
very immature.  enjoys making people uncomfortable.
and yeah... that’s about it for now.    i can’t wait to start writing sonia again so hmu if you have any plots. i’m open to legit everything so come @ me bros. can’t wait to rp with all of you.

DANIEL SHARMAN, MALE, HE/HIM-——- Nicholas Novak has been identified as a twenty-six year-old resident with Pain Manipulation. Their files indicate that they work as a hitman, and may be closely linked with the underground. They are known to be intelligent and vindictive, and knew the deceased because he hired Nick to sow terror throughout Diamond City( Louisa, she/her, 19, EST )
Background
Nick is a killer, but no one is born a killer. He was born the son of jewelers in a neighborhood on the outskirts of Diamond City, and grew up a pretty normal kid, getting good grades in school and helping around the family shop with his twin sister. Despite the fact that his entire family had mutations, (his father could change his body to be composed of any material he touched, his mother could control plants, and his sister had superspeed), his powers didn’t emerge until much later, leading him to grow up believing himself a bit of an ugly duckling. He wanted nothing more than to be like the rest of his family with their incredible talents.
He discovered his powers when he broke his ankle during a high school soccer match when he was seventeen. Nick wanted the pain to stop and it did, which lead him to realize he could control his own pain levels. He realized about five minutes later that he could control the pain of others when he reduced a boy to the ground screaming after an insult to his sister about being a mutant. Nick thought little of the incident. What he did to the boy was far overshadowed by the excitement of his new abilities.
It turns out, however, that he’d made a major mistake. That boy he’d just essentially tortured was merely echoing the prejudiced statements he’d heard from his parents, who were powerful lawyers now out for Nick’s blood. It wasn’t long before Nick saw the inside of a mutant-specialized juvenile detention center, separated from his sister and parents. In juvie, he met all sorts of mutant kids that had been absolutely fucked over by one person or another. He saw fear around every corner from guards and prisoners alike. Slowly but surely, his faith in society and humanity began to ebb away. He saw what it was like to be broken. Now he wanted to fight back against the whole damn world.
On his eighteenth birthday, when he was going to be transferred to an adult prison to finish out the remainder of his sentence, he received a mysterious visitor: Raúl. Raúl informed Nick that he could be quietly removed from the prison system if he agreed to turn himself into a weapon on behalf of the underground. Once he had served the equivalent of his jail time on their behalf, he could be compensated for his work. Nick accepted the offer very quickly.
Over the next few years, he received training from various deadly members of the underground. He learned how to use guns and knives and poisons and he learned how to cover his tracks, though it was often unnecessary. There’s no tracks that can’t be covered, no evidence that can’t go missing, with the right combination of money and power. Once his training was complete, he concluded that he couldn’t just go back to his family. Not as he was, and besides, he’d be killed for leaving anyway. Better to just move on and hope they had forgotten about him, despite the fact that he hadn’t forgotten about them.
For the past few years, Nick has been killing whoever Raúl points to without hesitation and sometimes picking his own targets when allowed. He mixes up his M.O., for the most part, killing with an impressive variety of methods. Nick rarely uses his power during a hit as it more directly ties him to a crime scene. Well, that’s not true. He rarely causes anyone pain with his power during his hits, but he does always use his power.
See, before his victims go, Nick stops their pain. He sends everyone off as gently as he can as a promise to himself that he’s still an okay guy.
Let’s hope we never see the day he breaks that promise.
Power
Nick can cause and decrease feelings of pain in himself and others. When causing maximum pain, the pain itself does no long-lasting physical damage but can render an opponent immobile. (Essentially the effects of the cruciatus curse for hp fans). He can reduce pain so that it isn’t felt at all. He often uses this pain reduction on himself, with dangerous after-effects. For instance, he could keep his hand in a fire for a very long time- but he’d still receive the burns. He can only control pain, not actual harm. He must also be able to see his target in order to decrease or increase their pain.
Wanted Connections
Under construction! Hit me up tho

— mateo’s personality is rather... dry and serious. unlike his father, who he clearly did not get his sense of humor and charm from, mateo is much more curt and straight-to-the-point. his constant mood is dark cold brew and being Jaded all the time. rather than grand displays of emotion, he'd rather just inhale deeply to show any sign of irritation, sadness, yadda yadda. he’s greatly disinterested in small talk
— the only time you’ll see him vicariously active and full of energy is on a picket line or at a protest
— deep deep deep deep deep down, he’s a softy, but despises showing that intimate vulnerable part of himself. it’s not that he thinks he’s a weakness, but he feels like every part of himself isn’t real and worthy of love. he’s let himself go just a bit...
— he’s raúl’s son and definitely has a lot of heavy, conflicting emotions around his father’s death. for one, there’s a lot of regrets he’s feeling, especially as he never felt like his father was a father figure to him. should he have got to know his pa a little more? was that on him? mateo always wished he could have been closer to his father, as he was always treated more like... a prop, or a badge of honor to make raúl look good. perhaps some things were impossible to recuperate
— especially because mateo was hella suspicious of his father. even he had no idea that his father had established the underground, a secret ring of connections in the dark underbelly of diamond city. sure, he had inklings, and, sure, everything pointed towards the fact that he had dark affiliations. but mateo wanted to believe that perhaps his father wasn’t that.
— having inherited the heroes’ union from his father, he has no idea how to run such a huge enterprise, and finds himself overwhelmed by all the burgeoning responsibilities he has stepping into his father’s shoes. because of this, he’s had to put his labor organizing on hold to try and manage his father’s empire (which is going poorly, might i add)
+  +  +  powers
— his first and foremost power that he’s currently always using is shapeshifting, or the ability to change his form at will.
— had a lot of gender and body dysphoria growing up, so much that even leaving his room was a feat in itself. when he found out one day he had shapeshifting capabilities, he tirelessly worked to master his power so he sustain a new form for himself. many many years later aka now he’s now comfortable in the body he’s chosen to live in, having accumulated different features that he likes for himself.
— his other power is illusion manipulation. mateo hardly has had time to master it, let alone practice, so his techniques are rusty and unrefined. for the most part, he’s able to create illusions that feel real in multiple sensory dimensions but don’t exist.
— did he kill his father and was able to get away with it from his shapeshifting and creating illusions? idk maybe idk idk...
+  +  +  history
mateo grew up without his father in his life, living down in san diego, ca (occupied Kumeyaay) with his single mom. all his life he was curious to know who his father was, and his mother adamantly refused. it wasn’t until college where his father suddenly came into his life, captivating and charming him as the perfect father figure he never knew he wanted. in such a time where mateo was struggling to develop his powers and grapple with gender and body dysphoria, raúl was everything he hoped for and more. against his mother’s warnings and begging, he moved to diamond city to live with and be closer to his father.
the feelings of intense happiness he felt with his dad, however, slowly began to dither off as he got to know him. mateo was uncomfortable with the press and publicity he received as raúl publicly made know that he and his long lost son were reunited, forging a narrative that he’d been denied the chance to see him all his lie. mateo slowly began to doubt if he could trust his father, especially when it felt like he was a living trophy meant to follow and praise him so eagerly. sure, his father occasionally checked in on him and treated him like a son, but there was something about his father that he could never really pinpoint - he never truly felt like he could trust him.
as rumors on the street surfaced that raúl was connected to the underground, the emboldening critics made mateo a little suspicious and betrayed that his own dad would use him. mateo secretly began to investigate his father, but his search was largely fruitless. his dad always managed to charm him, keep him right where he wanted. it worked every single time. and yet he never failed to feel close to his dad, only more and more distant as the years passed.
he considered going home to his mom. as a labor organizer, it was tiring working in the big city, and it felt like all of his work was going nowhere. especially because at times it was at odds against the heroes union, of all things. he vowed to quit diamond city and never return. he didn’t even go to the gala, opting to stay home. so when news broke out that his father was found cold, and mateo found his name at the inheritor of the will... he questioned if he were ever able to leave. maybe he should have listened to his mother in the first place.
+  +  +  wcxns
— acquaintance/friend. with all of these new obligations, it has been impossible for mateo to even get a breath of fresh air. perhaps they are that to him - they remind him there’s people on the ground that care about him, in some sense. but he’s scared they might see him differently.
— an open shoulder. mateo’s not really one to open up, but for whatever reason he’s now taken them up on their offer. it’s 11pm, and the sullen rap of knuckles on their oaken wood door means he’s finally ready to process. he’s more a listener, anyways, and would be more than happy to listen than work on himself.
— informant. they want dirt on raúl, and who better to consult than his own son? mateo’s half hesitant, half down, but he’s more or less down for the cause. anything to get to the truth has his backing.
— he hella sus. something about the suarez family never adds up. mateo’s got his own line of suspicious activity going down, what with his late night walks through alleyways and his occasional connections to the underground. it’s hard to pinpoint mateo’s own alliances and connections, so they’re keeping a close eye on him for anything suspicious.
— a continued pawn. they know mateo’s in raúl’s throne and would be more than happy to exploit him for that. with enough pressure and enough charm, mateo falls for it every time. especially because he’s so occupied with bullshit that he’s hard to keep a track of moving pieces. they’re here for themselves, and he hardly knows it til it hits him.
— political differences. anyone watching mateo try and run his father’s empire knows he’s largely inefficient. they make it known he’s terrible with managing the heroes union, and perhaps clash with him on how to operate things. sometimes they agree, but most of the time they cannot find middle ground on how the process should run.
— personality clash. there’s nothing mateo hates more than a personality that’s ready to dominate the conversation or push him around. especially if there are others at stake, he’s more than willing to fight for the underdog, even if he can’t fight. perhaps they’re forced to work together, and it’s an absolute struggle.
— jealousy. he watched his father shower them in praise while he was at the sidelines without anything but a pat on the back. mateo doesn’t want to admit he’s jealous, but the fact that his father dedicated so much time to everyone else instead of him is really eating him alive. he’ll play fake nice, but he can’t help himself to a twinge of snark when he’s feeling particularly snideful.
— mortal enemies. oh boy. mateo prides himself on being absolutely tolerant of people, but this person grinds his gears. they remind him of everything he’s terrible at, all of his regrets, and perhaps that his father’s death could just as well be his fault or something. they bring out his insecurities, and anyone as guarded as mateo just wants to chew them out at any chance he can.
— crush. they ground him, in a way that other people can’t. he’ll likely say hi, exchange a few words, but he’s clueless as to how to approach what he wants. after all, years of self loathing and uncomfortablesness in himself haven’t exactly dissipated...

JACOB ARTIST, DEMIBOY, THEY/HE -——- patrick woods has been identified as a twenty-nine year-old resident with fusion, possession, and power enhancement. their files indicate that they work as a scientist, and may be closely linked with the underground. they are known to be diligent and cryptic, and knew the deceased because they were privately funded to conduct illegal research. ( admin rowlet, they/he, 24, pst )
whaddup whaddup! here’s pt.2 of rowlet’s shady character duo, pat pat! i’ve listed some wanted connections here, but feel free to smash that like button if you want a plot with him, or if you just feel like pressin’ it. anyway, on with the show!
+  +  +  overview
— usually quiet, likes to think he’s witty and funny but in reality he’s just awkward as hell and doesn’t know how to talk to people. he could, on the other hand, talk endlessly about scientific jargon that nobody gives an absolute f about. and video games, especially puyo puyo. all he listens to is video game music.
— extremely passive, if you punched him he’d probably rate it on a scale of 1-10 and tell you how to improve. the aquarius is strong with this one. would never hurt a fly, and if he did he’d put a Hello Kitty bandaid on them because uwu
— but also like... he’s a shady bitch? says very odd things that can be misconstrued as a threat or something dangerous. is he srs or nah? that is the Question. he’s one third of raul’s illegal science team that is euna and isaac, otherwise known as the Bisquick Crew™, they research illegal things and create illegal substances. what you may ask? i suppose that might be revealed soon...
— copes with his anxiety thru fusion (more below)
— i feel like i just gotta include this somewhere lol but this bitch chubby cuz he eats goldfish (the processed crackers shit, not like actual Goldfish) and lumpia all day, please squish him in a hug.
— now that raul’s dead he’s trying to maintain his composure on the legitimacy of his research and where it will be going forward without his boss.
+  +  +  powers
— okay this is the part where i follow up and explicate on Pat is a Shady Bitch. his primary powers are fusion and possession, which allow him to combine with other mutants. who controls their fused mutant body is really a matter of willpower. most of the time pat is more inclined to take a backseat so he can study up, but when he’s feeling particularly devious or itching to get in the driver’s seat he can just take over. idk maybe he possessed someone to kill raul oh whoops.
— also has power enhancement, so whoever he’s fused with gets a sharp, nifty upgrade to their powers, tenfold easily. it’s good for people who are just exploring their powers cuz they get to know what a taste of control feels like without having to even put in the work.
— fusion wears off the second both parties consent to defusion or if they get knocked out. not like sleep but like... air knocked right outta them. the aftereffects of fusion can result in separation anxiety, especially if the fusion was sustained for quite awhile.
— the resulting fusion only contains subtle traits of his dna, so he could technically just hide in someone else’s body and not many people could tell. it would also be possible to fuse more than two mutants, but pat has never done such a thing.
+  +  +  history
patrick woods grew up without many friends. not because he was a mutant, but more or less because he grew up shy, lonely, and socially awkward. raised in oakland, ca (occupied Ohlone) not too far from diamond city, his two non-mutant parents worked tirelessly just to put bread on the table. as a result of their absence, pat didn’t have much of a support system growing up. his one constant source of validation was how proud he made his parents in school, and so he invested his time into his classes to do well. he could never sustain any friendships, as his peers found him too erratic and secretly needy.
it didn’t help when his powers began to manifest towards the end of high school. most people made fun of him, as if he was a dare to be conquested. but the one thing about fusion was that it let him into the minds and bodies of others, and he began to use it to study his peers. but, more than that, he used fusion to cope with not having friends, becoming co-dependent with his powers. and, in doing so, discovered that it was the perfect, unconventional way to do research.
he set his dreams on becoming a scientist and entered a ph.d program. during the research phase of his program, he decided to conduct his work in diamond city not just because it was close to home but because of the large mutant population. his dissertation on mutant genome sequencing was discovered by raul, who kept him in mind for a secret project. shortly after completing his dissertation, he packed his bags to move full time to diamond city to work for raul under what would now be known as the underground.
+  +  +  wcxns
— acquaintance/friend. definitely have interacted, perhaps not in awhile. perhaps they used to grab taro milk tea with boba together every once in awhile.  but what was once a friendship became distant, perhaps because of raul’s death. will it unite them or cause a rift?
— fellow geek. nintendo+ nerds for life. they’re friends on discord and steam, and have likely stayed up until 7am playing video games together when the sunrise hits their face. such is the tortured life of a gamer. pat hasn’t logged on in awhile, and maybe they’re concerned about him.
— training buddy/research subject. the current mutant he’s researching, on the down low or not. they needed help with their powers, pat’s all game for helping people. little do they know there’s a catch, but sometimes the benefits far outweigh the negatives. after all, pat gives good, honest, and thoughtful feedback.
— fusion buddy. it started as either a joke or an experiment, really. but now they’re slightly co-dependent on sharing a body because their separation anxiety has gotten out of control. they’ve tried to break it off, perhaps for awhile, but they always seem to keep coming back to each other.
— panic button. when all else fails, call them at 3am. pat’s not exactly an open person, but something about them makes him invite himself over so he can snuggle up or sleep on their couch. when everything goes wrong, they’re the first person to hear it.
— political differences. being a member of the underground can be really polarizing, especially since pat’s doing illegal work. he tries to justify to himself that he’s doing something good, but this person and him absolutely butt heads over what is morally correct, what is grey, what is wrong. it never ends well.
— he hella sus. they know he’s up to no good, past his dumb ol’ facade. they see him around, perhaps either on a commute or have interacted with him a little more personally. and they see right past his facade of innocence and geekiness. pat’s up to no good, and they know it.
— tensions high. put them in a room together and it won’t end well. one would never think pat could become such a fesity, snarky person, but here he is, chiding away. whether it was a falling out or some petty disagreement that exploded, these two are on the precipice of a fight.
— the crush. they reduce him to rose-pink blushes. most of the time he’s already tripping over his words, but he can hardly utter a word around them.
— accomplice. down to get materials for his research at whatever cost. he needs mutant and dna samples, he has a secretly funded lab, dangerous chemicals, and raul backing him. or he did. now they have to figure out what they’re doing post raul’s death, and it’s up in the air.

Jake T. Austin, Male, He/Him -——- Izaya Matias Pryce had been identified as a eighteen year-old resident with florakenisis/Ghost physiology. Their files indicated that they worked as a student and may have been closely linked with the heroes union (though he had connections with the underground as well). They had been known to be familial and easily controlled, and knew the deceased because of his public image.( 1amc3a10t, she/her, 20, PST)
Backstory:
Izaya was born in Guatemala to a pair of young parents who had just begun to understand how the adult world worked. His father had come to Guatemala from the east coast of America and met Izaya’s mother, they fell in love rather quickly and got married. What Izaya’s mother had failed to tell her husband was that she was a mutant, the man had openly expressed his hatred for the race and she feared that coming out may result in danger or the end of the relationship. The family was nothing but normal until Izaya began showing signs of a mutant ability at the age of four. It started out small with buds popping up in the dirt he rolled around in, or plants being brought back from wilting when he spoke softly to them. Knowing that this was something special he ran to his parents excitedly to share the news. His father lashed out. Taking pity on her only child his mother paid for two tickets to Diamond City, California and left the boy near the closest police station. Confused and unable to speak the countries native language Izaya shoved himself into the nooks and crannies of a nearby building and waited in fear until his mother would come back and rescue him. His mother never came, but after a long and restless night, a beat cop doing his daily patrols stumbled upon the child and took him to shelter.
It took him only two weeks to find a home in the loving arms of the bright-eyed beat cop and his two weary husbands. Although they all struggled to understand each other these fathers refused to give up and enrolled in both supplementary English courses and Spanish classes. It took Izaya a while to learn and he had to enroll in school a year later than his peers but once he began to understand, he began to thrive. At home on the outskirts of the city, they lived a quiet life in a secluded cottage with acres of supple land that Izaya almost immediately turned into a garden. After the initial excitement of watching the life bloom slowly quelled he was struck with a deep fear that his new family would throw him out just like the other, but their reaction was quite different, he began to pull away and cower when they ran to him with arms open wide but they didn’t seem angry, rather…they were excited. Izaya’s ability was heavily celebrated, two of his fathers were mutants and immediately began teaching him to control his powers, while the other quietly reminded him that abilities don’t make the person, personality and actions do.
At the age of six, a new Pryce entered the family, a toddler by the name of Zachariah. The first day together was spent staring each other down, the second-day Izaya decided this child was a demon. Years later Zachary became Izaya’s biggest fan and constant support system, although Izaya never stopped believing the kid was a demon the little devil did become his best friend.
At the age of fourteen, he approached his papa with a fake sort of confidence that oozed the fear of rejection and demanded to be included in the Heroes Guild. He knew he may be young but he was capable and was well aware that the control over his abilities were amazing. He was immediately rejected. Papa explained it wasn’t safe, and although he would make a wonderful hero when he was older this was not the time to dive headfirst into a dangerous career. So, he went to Papi and begged, but he said the same thing. In a huff, he approached his dad, who also said the same thing but in a bit more supportive manner. After a lot of thinking and days of watching Izaya mope around the house his father’s let him tag along with his Papa for one day. That day turned into years, and the public came to know him as the flower wielder Eden.
At the age of eighteen, he died. It was supposed to be a routine fight, nothing hard, nothing new. He was just…in the wrong place at the wrong time. He can still feel the piercing pain that rang through him when he was shot, the alien power that coursed through his body as he slowly turned to stare his killer in the eyes. It was an ally, it was a friend. He had collapsed to the concrete with a thud, hands pulling him onto someone’s lap, frantic talking he couldn’t understand but…none of it was his fathers’. Papa wasn't there today, he let Izaya go without him, that was a mistake. He desperately tried to reach out to someone who wasn’t there, grasping at memories of his life as they flooded his vision. As his breathing got harder and his body went limp he could hear the familiar whirl of news trucks, his last thought was a hope. A hope that his family wouldn’t find out from the news.
***
Papi - Draxton
Papa - Vincent
Dad - Theodore
Brother - Zachariah
Izaya had always been closest to his Papi despite him being an extreme helicopter parent. Vincent was a bit too aloof for Izaya’s tastes and Theodore was the one who was the most grounded. Though, he did, and still does, love them all very much.
D: *kicks open door*
D: Hey bitches, I’ve got the child you ordered. They only speak Spanish but Theo you’re fluent in it-
T: Wrong. I took 2 years in high school.
D: Vincent you’re fluent in it-
V: Russian. I’m fluent in Russian.
D: Well I’m fluent in it-
T/V: You’re Australian.
D: Fuck.
Papi- Plays the role of a detective but works in the underground manufacturing and distributing whatever is needed.
Papa- Hero in the Heroes Union.
Dad- Owns a bar and does bounty hunter work when needed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Random Headcanons:
-Living in Guatemala for the first four/five years of his life has caused him to speak in a somewhat heavy Guatemalan accent.
-He enjoys music and it has a calming effect when he becomes anxious and/or worried. Surprisingly he is a wonderful singer and a decent dancer.
-He will hoard objects that he finds ‘pretty’ or ‘cute’, if he gives someone something from his collection that means that person is special.
-He’s slowly learning how to cook but he can bake fairly well, especially recipes that include lavender. He also knows how to make body butters and perfumes using flowers.
-He’s just a bit touch-starved and will hold on a little bit too long when it comes to hugs. For those that don’t understand what happened in his past, it’s kinda awkward.
-He loves animals and they happen to be the one thing that will always get him to smile.
-He’s naturally curious but doesn’t like asking questions. So he’ll follow people around and/or stare at individuals until he receives some suitable answer.
-He may cause arguments here and there but he hates when others get into fights.
-He has a fear of older men that stems back from the emotional abuse and abandonment caused by his father.
-His ‘hero name’ is Eden.
-He is rather perceptive of individuals feelings, though he doesn’t always act on that knowledge.
-He speaks with a slight lisp.
Connections:
Friendly Fire- It was an accident, they never meant it to go that way. Why in the hell would they ever want to kill a kid? This individual, from the heroes union, caused the end of Izaya’s life. They had been allies, worked closely together, but they were both in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Earthy Possessions- Izaya may have known them during his life or they may be complete strangers but the ghost has become particularly enthralled by their presence and enjoys being around them. Whether he’s invisible or fully present depends on
Casper the Friendly Ghost- This particular individual is mortified by even the slightest sight of Izaya. They hold a strong opinion that ghosts are things of fiction and should not be casually floating around their city. Whether they lash out at the specter for even daring to be real, or run away in a panic the moment they meet eyes is up to the writer.
Polter-guys, run- Izaya absolutely despises this person, but he’s not entirely sure why? Whenever he’s around this individual he is filled with disgust, hate, and anger. He has yet to lash out and become violent though he isn’t sure how long he can keep his temper in control.

JUNG JINSOUL, FEMALE, SHE/HER -——- jeong misuk has been identified as a twenty two year-old resident with astral plane manipulation. her files indicate that she works as a college student, and has no affiliation. she is known to be lionhearted and irascible, and knew the deceased because he saved her from a kidnapping. ( nat, she/her, 18, gmt )
hi, everyone! i’m v tired and one of my exams will be tomorrow so this isn’t gonna be the longest, but... ( trigger warnings for mentions of abuse, depression, etc. )
misuk was born somewhere in south korea. her parents brought her to diamond city bc they were intoxicated by the idea of the american dream, especially the american dream in the so-perceived mutant-human utopia.
her family in korea are very lovely, kind people. growing up, she felt like she got stuck with the worst ones in her family as her parents. it worsened her feelings of isolation, because they were all the way there and she was now here with just her unkind parents.
it wasn’t until she was a teenager that she took matters into her own hands and found a way to see mental health professionals. she was sure she had anxiety and depression and ptsd ( due to a kidnapping that raul saved her from way back, but more on that later ). she hadn’t seriously considered that she was on the autism spectrum, however, until she was informed of the possibility. she now knows she is autistic, even though she doesn’t conform to the standard idea of an autistic person.
she was kidnapped as a child. it was extremely traumatic and made figuring out whether or not she was on the spectrum a bit difficult (bc some symptoms of ptsd and signs of autism are similar, like being sensitive to touch). raul saved her life. people would think she should be or assume she’d be endlessly grateful for him because of it, but she isn’t. she does want to be a hero and save others’ lives, but she’s not one for following raul’s footsteps. she just doesn’t feel like it.
independent sort of hero. she doesn’t associate with the heroes’ union.
misuk is also pretty short-tempered and irritable. an anti-hero heroine, really.
she’s smart. not a savant, but smart. she’s all over the place in college because of her depression, though. she keeps on switching courses.
BISEXUAL.
her power allows her to travel through physical spaces that are not quite the reality we know. it’s a bit like teleportation -- she can visit anyone she wants, except it won’t be in the Real World, it’ll be an in-between world. she basically manifests like a ghost. fitting, she thinks, for a girl who’s practically dead (on the inside).

EIZA GONZALEZ, FEMALE, SHE/HER-——- Paloma Vega has been identified as a twenty-eight-year-old resident with super strength. their files indicate that they work as an actress, and may have no affiliation. they are known to be talented and jaded, and knew the deceased because she tried to be a whistleblower on a mutant testing operation years ago only for no one to believe her. (Louisa, she/her, 19, est )
TW: drugs, gaslighting
Paloma Vega was born for the spotlight. She grew up in Hollywood and from the moment she saw her first movie she knew she was destined to be on the screen. She got her power very early. From the age of five she was a whirlwind of a child, accidentally ripping doors off hinges and causing the family repair contractor to just become part of the family. It took her a while to gain control of her strength, but that is probably just because it takes five-year-olds forever to gain control of anything.
Little Paloma didn’t let her power distract her movement towards her goal. Every day she would come home from kindergarten and beg her parents to get her in front of some cameras. She would throw very destructive temper tantrums about the fact that she didn’t have a talent agent, a concept generally beyond most five-year-olds. Eventually her parents caved in and started taking her to auditions for child actors.
She was cast in a few commercials very quickly. Paloma was a beautiful child and had an energy and enthusiasm that was unparalleled. The tantrums stopped. She reined in control of her strength. When she was seven she got her big break as the titular character in “Raising Lola”, a sitcom about a family of non-mutants and their daughter who has super-strength. It had a laugh track. It was terribly written. It won no awards. But it was extremely popular nonetheless, and so it stayed on the air far longer than it should have. Her mother homeschooled her as Raising Lola filmed.
After the sitcom, opportunities started throwing themselves at her. There seemed to be no limit to how far her star could rise. She acted in a wide variety of projects before carving out a home for herself in the action movie genre. For many years she was action’s silver screen darling, playing a diverse portfolio of heroes and femme fatales and detectives and damsels that all probably should have been wearing just a little bit more clothing.
Then, during a film shoot in Diamond City, she witnessed something odd: a strange glow from the windows of a supposedly abandoned warehouse. She had spent enough time playing hero that part of her had begun to believe she was one. So, on a reckless impulse, she ripped the door to the warehouse off its hinges and waltzed into a mutant testing facility. Needless to say, she was immediately captured.
Most of her time in the facility is exceptionally blurry. She couldn’t be kept in restraints because of her power, so instead they kept her heavily sedated at all times. Occasionally she caught names and faces- among them, the name Raúl Suarez- but nothing more concrete.
One day, about two months into her stay there, someone made a mistake. Maybe they gave her the wrong dosage, or they gave it too late, or they forgot to give it at all, but Paloma woke up from her medicated fog. She immediately burst through the wall of the facility, kept running, and didn’t look back. She freed no other test subjects, she fought no testers, she just ran. In that moment she realized she wasn’t the hero after all. She didn’t have it in her.
Paloma did, however, run straight to the DCPD. She told anyone there who would listen about the testing facility- about where it was and what went on inside, about the names she had heard, the faces she had seen. Unfortunately, Paloma had made a key mistake. She was an A-Lister who had gone missing on set for two months, and the gossip columns had mostly hypothesized she was on a drug bender somewhere. Now she was showing up at a police station extremely disheveled, with drug tests showing she was high as a kite on a strange concoction of painkillers, confirming the rumors. She was laughed off by every officer except one, who kindly said they would check out the facility tomorrow. Only by the time tomorrow came the facility was gone, and the warehouse was just a warehouse.
For a few days Paloma wondered if she really was just a celebrity recovering from some bad trip because she’d been gaslit to hell, but when she tried to get back to work she found peculiar roadblocks that drugs couldn’t explain away. Yes, her first instinct wasn’t to find out more about what had happened, it wasn’t to find other cops or heroes who would listen, it was to act again, even despite the fact that she was going through heavy withdrawl symptoms. Above all else, it is her passion for acting that drives her.
She returned to the set of the movie she had been shooting before she went into the facility in hopes that they had miraculously been waiting for her. No, her part had been recast. Fine. Understandable, it’s a tough industry and she was missing for two months. She called up her agent she had worked with for twelve years and he answered the phone only to say that he no longer wanted to work with her. Sad, but maybe it was better for his PR if he didn’t work with people who were suspected addicts. As she ran through her list of industry contacts from the A-Listers to the guy who directs the commercials for male pattern baldness medication, every single one of them turned her down. That cued her that something sinister had actually happened. If anything, her two month absence should only have made her a more desirable hire given all the press she’d gotten. Whoever was orchestrating her blacklisting clearly had one hell of a reach- Though she could never fully shake the thought that maybe it all had just been one bad trip.
In theory, she could have gone to the press with her story. None of her press contacts seemed to be blocking her the way her film contacts were. But she had learned a lesson. If she didn’t have evidence, no one would believe her and she would only become more of a laughingstock.
She stayed in Diamond City after the debacle (which was two years ago) because she didn’t want to go back to Hollywood and stare at the stardom she could no longer have. The whole incident left her jaded as hell. Her career and reputation she’d curated for over twenty years was gone overnight and she didn’t have the skillset to do anything about it. On top of that, the people who did have those skills didn’t believe her. She spent most of those two years trying to kick a painkiller addiction and only slightly succeeding, telling the press her early retirement was a personal choice (super false), and keeping her head down.
And then a few weeks ago Raúl Suarez died and his speculated connection to the underground was released to the public and she knew, she knew she wasn’t crazy and finally people would believe her and finally she would be able to act again and she wasn’t crazy and-. No. Calm down, Paloma. Nothing was solid yet. There was still nothing she could contribute to the investigation and she didn’t exactly trust the DCPD. Besides, even if they uncovered the whole operation it wouldn’t necessarily un-blacklist her.
But for the first time in a long time, Paloma has begun to hope.
TLDR: A-list action movie star makes a dumb decision, ends up in a mutant testing facility, escapes but finds she’s been blacklisted from the film industry and loses her sense of purpose.
Power: She has super strength. It’s pretty straightforward. She’s never done any combat training other than stage/stunt training because she’s a normal civilian though so like she doesn’t really know how to use it in a Useful Manner ya know? Other than Lifting Stuff and Pushing Stuff. She hasn’t learned how to be a badass, but with some actual training she could probably become a real powerhouse.
Personality: Paloma is a jaded diva. She won’t sign autographs, she’s incredibly cynical, and she’s fairly paranoid. She’s not mean (bc i can’t play ppl who are Mean), she’s just distinctly not nice. However, it’s worth noting that she can change her personality at the drop of a hat as needed. #acting

NATALIE DORMER, CISFEMALE, SHE/HER -——- sanne barber has been identified as a thirty two year-old resident with death sense and sonic scream. their files indicate that they work as a morgue technician coroner, and may be closely linked with the underground. they are known to be intelligent and abrasive, and knew the deceased because he employed her to help cover up underground related deaths.
Background
Born in Sweden to non-powered young parents the start of her life was as normal as could be, until the responsibility of raising a child with a sonic scream began to wear down the family. Drugs and alcohol problems grew in the house and her parents abused their young daughter who was struggling with her further manifesting powers during her childhood years. Eventually at the age of eleven Sanne woke up in the middle of the night knowing that her parents were about to die in a house fire caused by her father falling asleep with a lit cigarette, instead of warning them she got up and walked out of the building and sat down cross-legged in the street as she watched the house set alight just as she had predicted.
Cleared of any involvement in the fire, feigning that she had totally succumbed under her new power which safely removed her from the situation, Sanne’s grandparents shipped the fledgling teenager off to a boarding school in America with no interest in her. Her past followed Sanne to the school, most people gave her a wide berth which at this point suited her just fine. Instead she focused on learning to speak English fluently and her straight A average, though she was still very much plagued by her powers. In such a large establishment filled with hormonal teenagers it was not uncommon for deaths to occur, and every single time Sanne was there pulled to the scene like a bad omen.
At 18 with her grandparents responsibility for her over Sanne decided to stay in America and worked odd jobs in order to fund her college experience until the endless voices she heard became too much for her and required a lengthy stay in hospital. While there she caught a lucky break and was drawn to the morgue and through her power was able to inform the doctors that the dead person had in fact been murdered, and told them who did it. Seeing the advantages that her powers had for them and the police the coroners office offered Sanne an internship, which eventually lead to a full time job and a doctorate.
The entire time Sanne took after her parents and relied heavily on drugs and alcohol to help deal with the excessive voices, a habit which followed her to a job in Diamond City. It was at that point that Raúl became interested in her and after helping her bury a drug related charge introduced her to The Underground, using her powers to further interrogate those that opposed him and he’d bumped off. And just making the most of her job to cover up the murders that were linked to him and the underground.
Since her whole life everyone had kept Sanne at arms distance she found she had no qualms about assisting with the Underground, it gave her a purpose and she’s good at what she does. She’s a very isolated person and since she’s had very little social interaction which means she has grown to be very harsh and candid.
Death Sense & Sonic Scream
“The user can sense the coming of death, determining when someone is dead or dying or if others have died in a specific location. The user has the ability to listen to the voices of the deceased.”
“The power to emit highly enhanced scream of a high amplitude”
Her sonic scream manifested as a toddler and once Sanne was old enough it was easy enough to keep that under control, helped that any time it happened by accident she would face a beating. It was when she was six and while holding the hand of her teacher announced that she was going to have a heart attack, which later that day was exactly what happened, that her further powers became apparent to everyone. Over time Sanne realised that for her to be able to specifically predict someones death she had to have physical contact, and so she employed wearing gloves at all times in order to avoid any accidental contact. This physical touch can also allow her to hear the voice of a dead person, though she is unable to communicate with them only to listen to what they have to say. Often Sanne can hear the voices of the dead but it’s clearest with contact, the rest of the time its just constant noise that will become overwhelming. Like the banshee’s of myth Sanne is drawn to both upcoming deaths or the sight of a new death, she won’t realise what is happening until she’s there hovering nearby. This pull is most common when the death count is higher.
