Will never forget how long the 2-metre walk from my bed to the window in the morning of 24.02.2022 felt as I was desperately trying to persuade myself that the booming, earth-shaking sound was just an unusually vicious thunder, and simultaneously thinking 'what if I pull the curtains open and there is no rain?' I pulled the curtains open, and there was no rain. No thunder clouds. Just the faces of neighbours also woken up by the missile explosions looking out of the window. That's when I understood that the war began.
Here's a reminder that Ukraine still needs donations badly to fight off the invasion.
United 24 and Come Back Alive are both verified charities that support the Ukrainian military. They offer various options, for example, collecting money for medical equipment, humanitarian demining and rebuilding Ukraine if someone doesn't feel comfortable donating towards weapons.

Good fucking morning from Ukraine after the massive shelling by russia with almost everything they've got. I personally heard pretty loud explosions over my head. Thanks to our air defence I am alive.
But still there are lots of injured people across all the country as well as some dead.
"Gentle" reminder that russia is a terrorist state
Upd: the numbers of injured and killed are growing

On February 20, 2014, Russian soldiers with weapons but without identification marks invaded Ukrainian Crimea. Soon, Russia occupied the peninsula, began armed aggression in the east of Ukraine, and in 2022 — a full-scale war.
Ukraine has been fighting for freedom, justice, and peace for ten years. We fight to liberate Crimea and every Ukrainian village, town, and city. But most importantly, we fight for people who are subjected to terror and intimidation in the temporarily occupied territories yet resist Russia's suppression and wait for Ukraine.
We are at our home, we are with our people, with our dream of a peaceful future and duty to protect what's ours. No one will take our freedom. Because we know what we are fighting for.

This is my homecity, Kyiv, on the 2nd of January after russia attacked Ukraine with Shahed drones, 16 Tu-95MC bombers, "Kinzhal" and "Kaliber" missiles during the night.
(Overall russia launched 99 missiles of various types and 35 attack drones over Ukraine during the night and morning).
As for now, 49 people are injured, 43 out of them were hospitalized. 2 people died.
I cannot express the pain I feel seeing the beautiful and strong city where I was raised being so viciously destroyed in the front of the whole world. And I certainly cannot imagine the pain of those, who suffered during the attack today and who lost their loved ones, one of them being Lyudmyla Shevtsova, doctor of biological sciences, professor, teacher of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
DON'T LOOK AWAY.
DON'T FORGET THE FACE OF THE TERROR.
SUPPORT ARMING UKRAINE SO WE CAN DEFEND OURSELVES, OUR LIVES, OUR CULTURE FROM BEING DESTROYED.

A short reminder that Russia is imperialist, has been imperialist for a long time, and there's no way around that fact.
Sections of the Western left have developed a narrative according to which Russia has been gradually surrounded by NATO and that supposedly "provoked" Putin. It's increasingly difficult to sustain the notion that Russia is simply "defending itself" after 24 February 2022, but the thing is - the invasion did not come out of the blue. One needs a different narrative to understand what Russia actually is: an aggressive imperialist power alongside other imperialisms.
So, a different narrative:
- 1994: Russia, with US support, acquires Ukrainian nuclear arsenal in exchange for the assurances to respect Ukraine's territorial integrity
- 1997: Russia acquires the Sevastopol naval base and almost all of the ships (82%, to be exact)... in exchange for the assurances to respect Ukraine's territorial integrity!
- 2004: Russia meddles in Ukrainian presidential elections, fighting hard to force an undemocratic fraudulent outcome, but fails
- Mid-to-late 2000s: As punishment for Ukraine electing Yushchenko, Russia uses energy blackmail, a form of economic coercion not very different from the IMF and World Bank lending and conditionality
- 2008: NATO refuses to adopt a roadmap towards Ukraine's membership and in effect postpones the decision indefinitely. Ukraine's security is in no way guaranteed, while Russia has already demonstrated the propensity to use coercion to force Ukraine to do its bidding
- 2009: Dmitry Medvedev, then president, writes to Yushchenko that "Russia does not pose and cannot pose any kind of threat to Ukraine", so seeking NATO membership is stupid. Yea, sure
- 2014: Russia, which "does not pose and cannot pose a threat to Ukraine"... annexes Crimea. Really, Dima?? I thought you were for real??
Of course, by annexing Crimea Russia not only makes all the previous statements that it "can never pose a threat to Ukraine" a ridiculous lie, but also breaks the 1994 memorandum and 1997 treaty. "We are the Kremlin. Our word is worth nothing"
- Crimea's annexation provokes armed separatism in Donbas that Russia supports and coordinates, including direct military command and control, and then completely subordinates Donbas "authorities", in effect occupying the region
- Ukraine's still not in NATO, its security is still in no way guaranteed, and the supplies of US weapons only begin in 2018. They are kept to a minimum... out of fear of provoking Russia!
- Nevertheless, on 24 February 2022 Russia launches a full-scale invasion to establish 100% control over all of Ukraine in one way or another. There is literally no military development on the ground that could have provoked the invasion. On Russia's part, it's a war of choice in exactly the same way the invasion of Iraq was a war of choice for the US in 2003.
Now, this is only the general outline. One should add Russia's drowning of Ukraine with spies and agents of influence, money to corrupt Ukrainian politicians and massive acquisition of Ukrainian assets to impose economic and political dependency.
These are well-known facts, but so many on the left refuse to see the story behind them. It's a story of decades of imperialist aggression, culminating in a war that cost 150,000 lives in 2022 alone. Any discussion of left-wing internationalism should begin with recognizing the reality of what Russia is and what it did.

Odesa wasn't sunny this weekend. But it's always beautiful no matter what.
You can get my sims version of the Odesa Opera Theatre here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The hotel building from my previous post (WIP).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course Passage - a former hotel with the remains of shops and cafes. I don't think I'll ever build it in Sims, as all the beauty and uniqueness of the building is in its sculptural groups. Photos and editing are a bit cringe cuz it already was evening + not a single sunray in the sky and the weather was terribly cold.
P.S: 2 days ago, Odesa was attacked by russians, as a result of which 12 people died, 5 of them were children.

The Russians are demolishing the Drama Theater in Mariupol. The video from the scene shows that the area is being cleared with construction equipment.
On March 16, the Russian military dropped an aerial bomb on the Drama Theater in Mariupol at a time when hundreds of people were fleeing shelling there.
According to various sources, between 300 and 600 people died during the bombing of the theater.
International organizations consider this a war crime of the Russian Federation.
In the summer, information appeared that the Russians did not take the bodies from under the rubble, but simply filled the corpses with concrete. Now, by demolishing the drama theater, the Russians are trying to further hide the traces of their crimes.

Oh, joy))
Just had a fight with my father
Who’s completely lost to the propaganda, because he is extremely easily influenced
So i showed him those videos from Kyiv
And he says
“Answer this: Why won’t Zelensky sign a peace treaty?”
And I ask him
“Answer me this: Is this an excuse to kill innocent people???”
On which he says that every day everywhere people die whether you like it or not
So I ask him
“Are you serious??? Are you insane??? Are you fucked up????”
And he spilled alcohol on me))0
And called me a piece of shit
Who doesn’t understand anything
And who’s opinion doesn’t matter
Now))
This is exactly how our government looks on it’s people
He speaks their words
Because he listenes to their propaganda every single day from every device
From multiple devices at once even
Has been for years
Now.
How am i supposed to change minds of thousands of brainwashed people in my country
If I can’t even change my father’s mind
What am I to do
I can’t even hate him
Because I know that he literally has an official mental disorder
Which made him believe all kinds of liars - cultists, medical frauds - for as long as I remember
What am I to do?
What am I to do when people say that it’s not just Putin’s war, that russians must pay, that Russia must be bombed in return
Aside from the fact that the majority here is agains the war
But, just as in Hitler’s Germany, we are forced to keep our tongues shut
Which we don’t
And we get beaten up, arrested for bigger sentences than rapists and murderers
Used to instill more fear in people’s hearts
And to tell stories about “foreign agents” who were sponsored by “The West”
Should we start a civil war?
Should we kill people who are just too naive and bombarded by all sides by levels of propaganda Goebbels would look up to?
And
As a journalist
Believe me when I say that this propaganda is WICKEDLY smart
It uses all the methods known to history of information in a rapid fire speed
It even turned around my own desire to not see things “one sided” into the decision not to see anything at all in fear of being lied to
Which is dumb
But should i be killed for this?
I just kept listening and talking to people
Different people in my job
And a funny thing about a tattoo artists’ job
Is that there are many soldiers getting tattoos
Good thing is, many of them come and tell us that they quit, that this war is pointless, that it’s just our government making money from it
But some don’t
Yet when I talk to them
They
Talk like
People
Not some monsters
Just people
But they truly believe
That they’re doing a good thing
That they’re fighting to free the oppressed
That they’re fighting to protect their people
Or to avenge their fallen comrades
I
I might be just too naive and empathetic myself
But
I don’t want them killed either
I don’t want any deaths
Haha
I want a third path
Hahaha
Yeah, I might be too influenced by the ideas of a fictional character who is also called stupid and naive for his views
But
I don’t know
The only people I want to be punished are those who rule this machine of war and hate
And not only from our side
But
Maybe it was also told to me by propaganda
But i don’t think that American government wants this to stop too
I think I saw it in english media as well that US government is known for profiting on wars all around the world
Forgive and correct me if I’m utterly wrong
But in that same post that said that the entire russian population supports war
Was said that we could’ve stopped it
We
Tried.
Before the arrest of Navalny and soon after our opposition had the biggest rise in this century
We had so many mass protests
They were all brutally suppressed
Young men, women, literal kids and, I shit you not, literally VETERANS, GRANDPAS AND GRANDMAS who ALREADY LIVED THROUGH ONE WAR were BEATEN AND ARRESTED BY POLICE FORCES which are supposed to PROTECT THEM
After the arrest the oppression of opposition has strengthened
We lost our leaders and organisation
Protests began to lessen
Yet with the declaration of “The Special Military Operation” people ROSE AGAIN
And the same thing happened
But worse
So many brutal laws were adopted
All to ensure not a single negative word or movement against the government
So yeah me and my family might be soooo fucked for what I’m writing right now
I’m really not so sure if tumblr is safe
I’m riding on sheer hope for a fluke
But
I just
I am so sorry for keeping my eyes closed for so long
This app and talking to people here is what made me open them
What let me express my rage and made it boil to the point where I couldn’t shut up anymore
I don’t know if I should post this or not
I don’t know.
I might not
Will it make a single change?
I know a way of doing this safer and for a longer time
Actually
It would even be more influential
Yeah
But I wish there will be time
When I can no longer be afraid
And when my words will be heard loud and clear
Along with all the voices of those
Who stand with the free world
For peace and love
And
Hualian)

Daily life of Ukrainian artists
While people here are praising some dumb non-existing movie about russians and russian culture this is what a life of the creators of Ukrainian one looks like. I was literally drawing this during another massive missile attack by that exact country you are so fucking crazy about rn. So I guess happy enjoying the culture of murderers and terrorists for y’all!

💔 A Ukrainian poet and soldier, Maksym Kryvtsov, was killed by Russians at the front. He first volunteered for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2014. After the full-scale Russian invasion began in 2022, he returned to its ranks to defend Ukraine.
Just yesterday, Maksym posted a photo with his new poetry book called "Poems from the loophole". It was recognised by PEN Ukraine, an NGO protecting freedom of speech and authors' rights, as one of the best Ukrainian books of 2023.
Shortly before his death, Maksym also posted a photo with his ginger cat on Instagram. The cat, to whom he had dedicated a poem, died with him.
Russia keeps killing Ukrainian poets and trying to destroy our culture. The evil must be held accountable for every crime, every life, and every word taken away.
