Ruth, what do you think of the song Jesse's girl?
.......I don't like it.
If someone is in a happy healthy relationship you shouldn't want to step in on that....
On that note, if Hollywood found someone willing to put up with him then God help whoever is trying to break that up.

favorite couple form the challenge?

These beauties from the 1930s. I think they were the purest and most genuinely romantic couple of this entire family.

thoughts on the departed:
Shelley Duvall did a spectacular job in Popeye, endeared many young people with Faerie Tale Theatre, and was candid about her battles with mental health.
Richard Simmons was true to himself and helped many people adopt diet and exercise to lose weight, and if you ever saw his TV show... it was really well-done.
Dr. Ruth Westheimer spoke frankly about sex and taught people that they should be free to enjoy themselves. I admit liking Susan Johanson more but I can't downplay Dr. Ruth's honesty.
Donald Trump was a real estate developer and TV perso Whoops, these things only come in threes, sorry.

Ruth, you do tech at the Starlight, right? Would it be possible to get a fog machine under the front row seats? The director wants like a walking on clouds effect or something and I ain't got the brains for that shit.
( @checkered-tailed-maverick )
Ugh, seriously? I mean, I guess, but you don't want to have to trust people not to fuck with it. if they really want a fog machine, it should be at the front of the stage or in the wings. And make sure to test it, those things are old.

Year So Far Book Asks: 6, 8
6. Biggest surprise
Along with Vanity Fair, some of the biggest surprises were:
I did not expect Elizabeth Gaskell's Ruth, a Victorian fallen-women novel, to be (overall) such a sweet, gentle story with such lovely atmosphere.
I did not expect that I would love reading a biography of St. Thomas Aquinas and grow to love the man as much as I did (though if anyone could pull that off, I should have expected that Chesterton could).
Charity and the Churlish Captain by Nina Clare seemed like a mindless Heyer pastiche with an annoying romance-novel heroine--and then it surprised me by giving her a surprisingly deep character arc as the characters have to learn how to deal with some pretty dark suffering.
8. Favorite new character
Ever since I finished Vanity Fair, there's a pretty good chance at any given moment that I'm thinking about Rawdon Crawley. I've long-wished Austen would have had the courage/ability to show a reformed rake, and this almost did that. His character arc was so lovely and meant so much to me. One scene of his story will forever haunt me, and I will forever wish he could have had a happier ending than he did.

What do you think some of your OCs and their partners look for when house shopping? (And congrats on your new house! Can't wait to see pics if you feel like sharing.)
This is a fascinating question - mainly because most of my OCs could have bought the house I'm buying, given it was built in 1931. (Link leads to an image of the original catalog listing for my house, which is a kit home.)
I haven't thought about everyone, but off the cuff:
Marj and Lip must have: a large yard, a tree to build a treehouse around, multiple rooms for many children and the dog, and a garage large enough to stash Lip's newest woodworking project.
Fred and Brady must also have a large yard and lots of room for children, though knowing them, the budget will not stretch as far as a music room. A piano is nonnegotiable.
Molly and Tab are very comfortable in Molly's small, bookfilled Boston apartment until the arrival of the twins forces them to reconsider the size of the space.
Ruth and Joe move into a Brooklyn apartment with as few stairs as Ruth can find, eventually moving over the dress shop.
Cord and Bucky don't really want kids - a small house with minimal upkeep near the Air Force base they both work at will be ideal.
