In my opinion, the best thing the 1990s did for Super Sentai was introduce the 6th hero for real.  We had hints of the 6th Hero going back to 1984′s Choudenshi Bioman when Shota Yamamori became the Magne Warrior for a VERY brief time (two episodes).
Tumblr media
And then again in 1987 When X1 Mask briefly aided the team in Hikari Sentai Maskman.
Tumblr media
But it wouldn’t be until 1992 when we finally got a real 6th Hero who would stick around (ok he didn’t make it to the end but Death will do that to a guy) in the form of Dragon Ranger in Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger.
Tumblr media
It is almost impossible to overstate how important the arrival of Burai was to the franchise.  A sixth hero added a new character to shake up the status quo, to change existing team dynamics and to add a shot of fresh, new plots to a show to kick things up and renew interest.  It didn’t hurt that Burai had a cool plotline and a fantastic mecha of his own.
Tumblr media
With the success of adding a sixth man, the formula for Super Sentai as we know it today was set.  Every year we have at least one new hero joining a team and while some come and go, some stay and become valued members.
Heck, a good 6th man can even save a flagging show.  In my opinion, the things that kept me watching 2015′s Shuriken Sentai NinNinger (other than Pink who was AMAZING) was the introduction of the Cowboy Ninja from America, StarNinger!
Tumblr media
And even now, we get the amazingly over the top and flamboyant Zox Goldtsuika a.k.a. TwoKaiser in this year’s show.  I was enjoying Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger but his introduction (right after the introduction of the amazing new villain Stacey) really cemented it as a must watch each week for me.
Tumblr media
And while not EVERY 6th Hero is fantastic (looking at you SignalMan and NinjaMan) I would say that their addition was the best thing to come out of the Sentai in the 1990s!

What if earlier sentai were incorporated by Power Rangers as Secret Agent or CIA Rangers?
Tumblr media
Here’s how I’d envision it.
Tumblr media
Billy contacts Gosei in order to research the different ranger forms they've gained access to thanks to the Super Megaforce Power Rangers. It's through him that they discover that the U.S. government has been making their own rangers even before Grid Battleforce became a thing, around the late 1970s all the way to the 1980s.
Government Rangers
-  The U.S. government have known about the Power Rangers since the exploits of the Wild West Rangers, who retired as honorary government agencies and turned their power coins in for study.
- Their research revealed that Zordon has been attempting to make Power Rangers since before banishing Rita Repulsa to the dumpster 10,000 years ago. He's been around for millions of years, in fact, and has been making rangers since the dinosaur period, hence the MMPR being dinosaur and prehistoric themed. Even before man developed into a civilization, Zordon has been looking on earth for rangers to help battle against Evil Space Aliens.
- The government or agent rangers are as follows:
1. Secret Agent Power Rangers (Himitsu Sentai Gorenger) and Special Agent Power Rangers (J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai): The United States government, specifically the CIA, created their own Power Rangers based on the Wild West Rangers' Power Coins to combat Space Aliens taking over terrorist groups at the time. No zords just ships. (1975-1978)
2. Battle Force Power Rangers (Battle Fever J): The United Nations created their own Power Rangers with representatives from different countries. The first Earth Task Force Power Rangers were able to access their own zords to deal with the giant monsters of the day being unleashed by the Alien Terrorist Groups, which combined to form the Battle Force Megazord. (1979-1980)
3. Electro-Magnetic Pulse Power Rangers (Denshi Sentai Denjiman): CERN (formed back in 1954) then tries their hand at making a new ranger team by combining the Morphin Grid' power with electro-magnetism, resulting in the EMP Power Rangers. They were summoned to defeat an AU version of Rita Repulsa (Queen Hedrian) that was never trapped in the dumpster. (1980-1981)
4. Solar Power Rangers (Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan): CERN gets into contact with Zordon at last and learned about the original Solar Rangers from thousands of years ago. They ended up creating their own Solar Power Rangers to combat the cyborg version of the same AU Rita Repulsa from before and an AU version of the Machine Empire. (1981-1982)
5. Power Rangers Victory (Dai Sentai Goggle-V): The U.N.'s second attempt at an international team of rangers, but this time taken from civilian athletes and Olympians instead of soldiers. The Second Earth Task Force Power Rangers or Power Rangers Victory dealt with the Illuminati, which was responsible for the destruction of many past civilizations. (1982-1983)
6. Power Rangers Bionic (Choudenshi Bioman): The Bionic Rangers were developed by the U.N. and CERN using advanced bionic technology using info on the direct descendants of Zordon's prehistoric attempts at creating Power Rangers with the Dino Power Coins. Their D.N.A. and early exposure to the Morphin Grid made them more powerful than the average government ranger soldier. They faced off against heralds of our universe's Machine Empire led by the brilliant scientist turned deranged crackpot cyborg Doctor Man. (1984-1985)
Tumblr media
7. Power Animal Rangers (Choujuu Sentai Liveman): The Animal Rangers were the first animal-themed rangers and the second team of civilians being used as Power Rangers since Bionic. They too had roots from Zordon's prehistoric attempts at creating Power Rangers and their powers evolved from using dinosaurs to using modern animals. They faced off against relatives who ended up becoming part of the Illuminati. (1988-1989)
8. Power Jet Rangers (Chojin Sentai Jetman): The Jet Rangers bird-themed Power Ranger team of U.S. Air Force pilots that served as CERN, U.N., NASA, and Zordon's attempt at combining Morphin Grid powers with the tech they've developed to create their own rangers. They faced off against virus-themed super villains from space. Eventually, Zordon decided to man his own team of rangers without the government's help. (1991-1992)
New Powers or Powers Never Before Seen on Earth (AU Rangers or Alien Rangers)
- There were also new powers accessed by Super Megaforce never before seen on Earth. These were alien or alternate universe rangers ended up facing off against different sets of invading villains as managed by Zordon and Alpha-5.
1. Power Rangers Battalion (Kagaku Sentai Dynaman): The Battalion Rangers were from the alternate timeline where the AU Rita Repulsa resides. They battled her invading army of Evil Space ALiens but failed and were de-powered but their power set were preserved in the multi-dimensional Morphin Grid. The Blitz Rangers are the new powers of the Battalion Rangers. (1983-1984)
2. Power Rangers Blitz (Dengeki Sentai Changeman): The Blitz Rangers has the legendary creature motifs of Dragon, Pegasus, Griffon, Mermaid, and Phoenix. They also have elemental powers to them. They came from the same universe as Battalion and sent AU Rita back in time into a different earth timeline... the original MMPR timeline where her counterpart was trapped in a dumpster for 10,000 years but around 5-6 years ago. (1985-1986)
3. Power Rangers Prism (Choushinsei Flashman): The Prism Rangers seem to use hard light/prism power as hand-to-hand combat power augmentations. It is unknown how exactly this team obtained their powers, but they were known to have known Zordon, and so were likely to have been empowered by him. The Prism Rangers resided on an extraterrestrial planet, where they were attacked by a young Astronema who wanted to know Zordon's location. (1986-1987)
4. Lightning Power Rangers (Hikari Sentai Maskman): These Rangers seem to be highly adept at martial arts. Their Legendary Ranger Keys also allow the Legendary Megazord to perform an aura attack. Their power is based on harnessing the body's aura power. They faced off against an Underground Alien Empire but won in the end. Their version of Rita has no powers and has a son who's a commander in the Alien Empire.  (1987-1988)
5. Power Rangers Super Turbo (Kousoku Sentai Turboranger): Actually, the original and more powerful version of the Power Rangers Turbo power set. Zordon derived the Turbo Ranger powers from Super Turbo. By gaining this power set, the Turbo Rangers also end up with new powerful vehicle zords out of it. (1989-1990)
6. Supersonic Power Rangers (Chikyu Sentai Fiveman): The Supersonic Rangers were the Ranger team of Planet Xybria. The team were killed and their powers destroyed following the betrayal of their Green Ranger. Even though their physical Morphers were destroyed, their Ranger Powers have been preserved within the Morphin Grid. (1990-1991)
Tumblr media
7. Power Rangers Thunder Squadron (Gosei Sentai Dairanger): The powers the MMPR recently unlocked as the Thunder Power Rangers whose totems allowed them to control the Thunder Zords. The original Squadron Rangers are a Ranger team from Planet 0117 of the A47 Galaxy. Having received their powers from the Morphinaut, they cycled through multiple Ranger powers across time & space before eventually becoming the said Squadron Rangers. (1993-1994)

Did you know❓ 👉 Choudenshi Bioman (超電子バイオマン, Chōdenshi Baioman, Super Electron Bioman) is Toei Company's eighth installment in the Super Sentai metaseries. Its 51 episodes aired on TV Asahi from February 4, 1984 to January 26, 1985 with a movie being released during the show's initial run. 👉 It is the first Super Sentai series to have two females in the main five as well as the first Super Sentai series to have a female Yellow Ranger. The international English title is listed by Toei as Bioman. It was dubbed into English in the Philippines in the late 80's. 👉 The once prosperous Planet Bio (バイオ星, Baio-sei) is destroyed after a world war erupted over the use of a scientific discovery called "Bio Particles". The Planet Bio Peacekeeping Alliance (バイオ星平和連合, Baio-sei Heiwa Rengō), which sought to use Bio Particles for peaceful purposes, sends the giant robot Bio Robo and an assistant robot named Peebo to prevent the same tragedy from happening on Earth. 👉 Bio Robo arrives in 15th century Japan, where it showers Bio Particles on five young individuals. Five centuries later, the descendants of these individuals, infused with Bio Particles, are chosen by Peebo and Bio Robo to become the Bioman team to protect the Earth from the Neo-Empire Gear, an organization led by mad scientist Doctor Man. #Hero #Superhero #superheroine #Tokusatsu #comicsuperhero #comic #Asia #DidYouKnow #asiasuperheroesfans #character #tokufans #supersentai https://www.instagram.com/p/CT5hrL4hz0g/?utm_medium=tumblr

Choudenshi Bioman
With that. I have watched 25 Super Sentai Shows and will be officially done. The last 80’s show I’ll watch is Flashman and subbed Turboranger and I am officially retiring from old Sentai. I was having high hopes going into this series thinking it could be a deep and dark series but I think overall it’s a show that gets lost in itself. I do think this overhyped for the simple fact the main villain is a narracist who instead of making a monster of the week he has Giants of the week that were easily defeated each episode. I’m very disappointed with the minute the first yellow 4 died it just seemed like no one cared. It really shows in the show. But maybe that’s due to production. Idk.
Pros: The suits. I think these suits brings that futuristic tone to what current Sentai needs. I honestly can’t remember the last time a Ranger suit especially a helmet was that detailed and futuristic looking. Red One suit stands out for me the most and his attacks. Red One fire sword is probably one of the coolest special attacks in 80’s Sentai. Green Two I stopped taking seriously he was just a weak second in command for me. Blue Three suit is definitely on par with Red One and both Yellow Fours were interesting in their own right. I adore Pink Five she’s a 80’s beauty.
Cons: Peebo is the worst Sentai Robot I’ve watch. He’s annoying. Like beyond annoying. The Villians also takes a hit. There was just too many of them for me to care and wish majority of them died back in episode 31. Bio Hunter Silva did save some of this show but at times he was lost within the show due to the other villians. And I’m sorry but episode 30 is probably one of the worst episodes of the show. Dr Man is going through his change. His second in commands are plotting to kill him attempts in doing it. A Mecha human starts speaking out the clear blue and tries to run to Bioman in order to seek some sort of refuge for doctor man. As if that’s already bad enough. Did the team not forget Dr Man is the reason why the original yellow 4 died or is it just me?

Can you do a top ten female sentai yellows
Yes!  That’s a perfect topic for a list and one I am really happy to be asked!
As much as I like pinks, most of my favorite Female Sentai members have been yellows.  This isn’t going to be the easiest list to put together but it will be a lot of fun!
So, without further ado,
TOP 10 YELLOW SENTAI HEROINES
10. Jun Yabuki/Yellow 4 (number 2) from 1984′s Choudenshi Bioman
Tumblr media
The original Yellow Four didn’t last long (thanks to behind the scenes drama) and was killed in episode 10.  Her replacement was an Olympic hopeful archer who originally joined with a sense of naive enthusiasm but soon discovered just how serious the job was.  She’s a fantastic character and though her career was the result of a tragedy, she’s a good start on our yellow list.
9 Moune/Gosei Yellow from 2010′s Tensou Sentai Goseiger
Tumblr media
I am not the biggest fan of Goseiger but that has nothing to do with the cast or the heroes.  My favorite of them all is Moune who is just adorable.  She’s the youngest member of the team and a rather strict perfectionist often butting heads with the more laid back Eri.  She was an instant favorite the moment I saw the episode where she learned how to be a cheerleader to help cheer up a girl in the hospital.  Great episode!
8. Marika “Jasmine” Reimon/Deka Yellow from 2004′s Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger
Tumblr media
Jasmine is a fun character despite her rather serious nature and complicated history.  She is an ESPer who can read objects through touch, which is why she wears gloves to deal with not reading every object she picks up.  It was not easy growing up with her powers but she managed to channel them into a career in law enforcement.
7. Chisato Jougasaki/Mega Yellow from 1997′s Denji Sentai Megaranger
Tumblr media
The Photography expert of the Digital Research Club, Chisato often ends up playing the straight woman to her friend Miku’s clumsy antics.  This seems to be a running theme with Yellows, being the more serious member but Chisato was one of the first I got to see in that role and she’s stuck with me ever since.
6. Ranru Itsuki/Abareyellow  from 2003′s Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger
Tumblr media
A bicycle courier who ended up as a heroine by accident, Ranru loves mechanical things.  She was once an idol but could not stand the role and quit to pursue her love of technology and machines.  She is the most strategically minded of the Abarangers and often takes pictures of the enemy to help decide how best to confront them.
5. Sara/Yellow Flash from 1986′s Choushinsei Flashman
Tumblr media
Raised on a planet coated in ice, Sara learned to sharpen her mind over her emotions and is often seen to be as cold as her icy adopted home. This cold exterior masks a very caring soul who is just a bit reserved and unsure of herself.  She uses her intellect to determine the objectives and weaknesses of her foes and how best to work against them with her teammates.  I love her outfit, she looks like a space sailor!
4. Natsuki Mamiya/Bouken Yellow from 2006′s GoGo Sentai Boukenger
Tumblr media
A very perky, cheerful girl who is pretty much the opposite of her team’s serious Pink, Natsuki starts out with no real memory of who she is or where she comes from.  The eventual revelation of her true origin is one of the most amazing parts of the series and though she carries a heavy legacy, she is always the chipper, perky member of her team.
3. Kotoha Hanaori/Shinken Yellow from 2009′s Samurai Sentai Shinkenger
Tumblr media
Speaking of Legacies, Kotoha was never supposed to be Shinken Yellow.  That was her sister’s destiny but her older sister fell ill and could not go when the summons from Shinken Red came.  Kotoha took her place and is basically the team little sister.  She has serious self-esteem issues and feels like she doesn’t belong with the others even when she proves herself over and over again.
2. Umika Hayami/Lupin Yellow from 2018′s Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger vs. Keisatsu Sentai Patoranger
Tumblr media
Umika is the most recent addition to this list and places this high because I think she is just adorable and has a great backstory.  Her fashion sense is amazing and she has always had her own style, even when it set her apart from her peers.  She is a true friend and would literally do anything to protect or save her friends.
Honorable Mention: Yumeria Moegi/Akiba Yellow from 2012′s Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger
Tumblr media
Yumeria is a cosplayer and Office Lady who loves to dress up in different outfits and draw yaoi manga.  She’s a fangirl through and through and only really works her boring job to afford her fandom pursuits.  She’s cheerful, a wealth of knowledge about Sentai and would be on the actual list if she were from an official series.  Sorry Yumeria.
1. Luka Millfy/Gokai Yellow from 2011′s Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger
Tumblr media
A thief, a scoundrel, a pirate and someone seemingly obsessed with money, Luka might seem kind of one dimensional at first but there is a lot more to her than meets the eye.  She’s actually doing all she can to gather money to buy a place for poor orphans like herself, so no one ever has to suffer the way she and her little sister did.  That’s what makes her my favorite Yellow of all time.
Thanks for the question!

How come we dont get any more "-man" sentais? The last "-man" sentai we got was Gingaman. After that it has always been "-gers" Is it because of Power Rangers? I like both suffixes but I just wish there was more of a variety.
You know, that’s a good point.  We really haven’t had many “-man” shows in a long time.  Seriously, I hadn’t realized it’s been since 1998 that was had one!
Tumblr media
The 1980s were really the high point for series labelled “-man” with Denshi Sentai Denziman, Kagaku Senta Dynaman, Choudenshi Bioman, Dengeki Sentai Changeman, Choushinsei Flashman, Hikari Sentai Maskman and Choujuu Sentai Liveman from 1980 and 1983-1988.  There wasn’t really a “-ger” series in the 1980s until 1989′s Kousoku Sentai Turboranger.
Tumblr media
Then in the 1990s they started to move away from the “-Man” series and towards the “-Ger” more and more with only Chikyu Sentai Fiveman, Choujin Sentai Jetman and the previously mentioned Gingaman using that designation in 1990, 1991 and 1998 repectively.  Everything else was Rangers.
Tumblr media
We haven’t seen a team with “-Man” in the name (or a team without a designator like those from 1977-1981) and it’s been since 1999 that we had a team designated by a “Five” at the end. For the record, there have been two of those with Dai Sentai Goggle-V and Kyuu Kyuu Sentai GoGo-V.
Tumblr media
The 21st Century has all been Rangers or just “-gers”.  This may be one of the effects of Power Rangers impacting the source material (or at least Saban’s and Disney’s money which helped fund Super Sentai for parts of the 2000s and 2010s).  It may also just be a brand recognition thing with the Ranger designation sticking for the entire franchise.  It’s hard to say which is the case but I would really like to see another “-Man” series pop up in the future.
Tumblr media
Heck, if they ever wanted to do something weird and have a series set in the past for nostalgia sake, it would be a good fit like Showa Sentai Retroman (昭和戦隊レトロマン)!
Thanks for the Question!
Edit: Thanks @jordanthehumanhedgehog for reminding me I had left out Denziman!  How could I leave out Denziman?

Liveman and Jetman are great Super Sentai series, but an issue that those series have is that most of the mech fights seem tacked on. The robot does one or two moves and immediately finishes. Which Super Sentai series are the best for robot fights?
That’s honestly a problem I have with a lot of Super Sentai.  The robots pretty much exist to sell toys and have since they were introduced back in 1979′s Battle Fever J (based on the toy sales of Leopardon from the previous year’s Spider-Man).
Tumblr media
That said, there are series that integrate the mecha fights much more organically than others.  One of the first to make the robot battles a major focus of the story was 1984′s Choudenshi Bioman.  In that series, there really weren’t monsters of the week but a new giant robot (which was always giant from the start) piloted by one of the established villains of the New Empire Gear.
Tumblr media
The rendered the robot battles way more important than they felt in other series and made them the actual big finale of an episode rather than the second part of the battle with the monster of the week.  It’s never really been repeated and makes the show stand out as relatively unique.
A more recent example of a well-done mecha integration with the plot would be 2012′s Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters.  In that series, the villains had to use a smaller mechanical monster of the week based on a machine or object infected with a special virus, as an anchor to allow them to teleport in the giant robot enemy in each episode.  This lead to a countdown timer being present anytime the smaller enemy appeared until the larger one was teleported in from the enemy’s alternate dimension.
Tumblr media
This would give the heroes a limited window of time to defeat the smaller enemy before they had to deal with the larger.  Sometimes, the didn’t and the team would have to fight on two fronts with some dealing the the smaller Metaroid enemy and others piloting the Buster Vehicles to take on the Megazord.
Tumblr media
Those are just two good examples.  There are others of course.  I felt that some episodes of Engine Sentai Go-Onger handled the mecha battles really well as did Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger.  However, the two examples I gave above are the ones I feel best merged the giant robots with the rest of the action to make them truly feel a part of the story rather than just a gimmick to sell more plastic toys combiners.
Thanks for the Question!

This might be a weird question, but as someone who's just started out on sentai, out of the 3 series I've watched my favourites have always been the Green ranger, so I was wondering who your favourite Greens are?
Oh Green is one of my favorite colors!  There have been a lot of great Green over the years going all the way back to Midoranger from the very first series, 1975′s Himitsu Sentai Goranger.
Tumblr media
He was the youngest member of the team and very enthusiastic if a little inexperienced.
However, my favorite greens are of more recent vintage.  Let’s start with probably the most famous Green in the West, Burai a.k.a. Dragon Ranger from 1992′s Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger.
Tumblr media
Burai was not only an excellent Green with a great suit but he was the very first actual sixth hero.  The idea had been toyed with before going back as far as 1984′s Choudenshi Bioman and even a Green in 1987′s Hikari Sentai Maskman with the introduction of X-1 Mask but they were one or two episode characters only.
Tumblr media
Burai on the other hand was a long-term character coming in around the beginning of the second 4th of the series to shake things up.  He was tough, brash, angry and started out as an antagonist before joining the team on a semi-regular basis.  He also had the most amazing Guardian Beast in the form of Dragon Caesar!
Tumblr media
His arrival shook up the status quo of not only his own series but the entire franchise by making the sixth hero a staple of Super Sentai from then on.  Did I mention he had a pretty awesome suit as well?
Tumblr media
That’s really important.
Jumping forward quite a bit is another of my favorite green Don “Doc” Dogoier a.k.a. Gokai Green from 2011′s Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.
Tumblr media
Don is the Gokai Galleon’s Maintenance Man, the ship’s cook and the kid brother character to all of the rest of the crew.  He’s not the best fighter in the group relying more on a technique I like to call ‘flailing wildly like a heavily armed muppet’ than anything approaching strategy or skill.  Yet, he’s generally the most expressive and emotional member of the group (at least until the ball of enthusiasm that is Gai shows up).  He wasn’t what you would call a willing recruit though as he was kind of press ganged into joining the crew before finding his place among them.
Tumblr media
Lastly, we come to the most recent Green on my list, Hammi a.k.a. Chameleon Green from 2017′s Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger.
Tumblr media
Hammi is our first proper female green (there had been a female green in the Shuriken Sentai Ninninger Returns but she was actually just a normal girl possessed by the spirit of a male former villain).  She is a space ninja raised in a Ninja Village on another world and as such is the Mistress of stealth and surprise attacks.  Due to her Chameleon powers, she can actually blend so well into her surroundings that she appears to be invisible.  She is intelligent, capable and a little sentimental regarding his home and her former teacher.
Tumblr media
Though I dearly love her as a character, I really wish she had gotten more time to shine and more focus episodes.  At least she was the main focus of the Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger vs. Space Squad movie, which was a great film.  She also got to wear a really neat ‘evil ninja’ costume in that movie.
Tumblr media
Anyway, those are my three favorite greens!  Thanks for the question!

Do you know if/think that Gush from Liveman is inspired by Hakaider? Their characters might be different, given that I don't know how the original Hakaider was as a character, but between the all-black android look and the gun, I do see some similarities in their designs. Of course, "evil black robot/android with a menacing gun" is hardly an innovative design, but after seeing Mechanical Violator Hakaider, I did get those vibes.
It’s very possible and wouldn’t be the first Super Sentai character inspired by Hakaider.  For the record, the original Hakaider from 1972′s Android Kikaider was a cyborg created using a robot body and the brain of Kikaider’s creator, Dr. Komyoji and programmed for one purpose, the kill Kikaider.
Tumblr media
He is actually so single-minded in his goal that when it appears DARK, lead by his master Professor Gill seems to have destroyed Kikaider without him, he attacks them!
He is eventually defeated and his brain returned to the good Dr’s head.  This is not the end of him though as the defeated Professor Gill puts his brain in Hakaider’s body and created new Hakaider copies to serve as his minions in the sequel series, Kikaider 01.
Tumblr media
Oh and for fun, Hakaisuru (破壊する) is the Japanese verb (To Destroy) and the word Hakai (破壊) just meaning Destruction which is pretty much Hakaider’s only purpose.
We see a much more obviously Hakaider-inspired enemy in 1984′s Choudenshi Bioman with the character of Bio Hunter Silva.
Tumblr media
He even kind of looks like a Silver version of Hakaider.  He is an alien robotic hunter charged with destroying anything infused with Bio-Particles by the Anti-Bio Union during the Civil War on planet Bio. After the planet’s destruction, he left as well to hunt down any remainders of the civilization of his own creators. Like Hakaider, he is single minded in his goal and serves as something of a spoiler for both the heroes of the Bioman team and their enemies, The New Empire Gear, often getting in the way of the other villains’ plans.
So, while Gush in 1988′s Choujuu Sentai Liveman might be somewhat inspired by Hakaider, he’s not the most direct copy in the history of Super Sentai for sure.
