My Little Secret
Title: My Little Secret
Category: Samurai Warriors/Pokemon Conquest
Rating: T
Pairing: Aya/Kanetsugu
Summary: After a gruesome battle, a day before harvesting season, the Uesugi clan goes to retire for the night, while others focus on healing the wounded. One important figure hides among the shadows to focus on others.
Disclaimer: I do not owe any rights to the Samurai Warriors or the Pokemon franchise.
Author’s Note: This is my secret santa gift for @setethx for the Samurai Warriors Secret Santa Exchange. That’s right! I was your secret Santa! I hope you enjoy this story!
~~Story Begins~~
The lingering scent of gunpowder, smoke, and blood flew into the light spring breeze as the leaves danced into the Uesugi camp in a swirl of reds and oranges. The cries of worried Pokemon partners, families, and wounded soldiers filled the otherwise silent night where they would otherwise be asleep in preparation for the busy day tomorrow.
In one of the tents saved for the wounded, an Alakazam watched in worry as his partner helped tended to the wounded soldiers, ignoring their own serious injuries, especially the deep gash he had quickly bandaged so no one would notice his side bleeding.
“I can sense your worry, my friend,” Alakazam’s partner said. “I will take care of my wound once the seeds have been planted for the harvest season. A lot of our farmers were caught in this battle with the Oda forces and they will need all of the help they can get.”
Alakazam nodded its head. It did love its human partner and shared its views of righteous and justice. It was how its human trained him since he was a small Abra, but he still worried over his human. The psychic pokemon could already tell that the wound was taking its toll on him, but if left untreated, it’s going to get infected.
“Lord Kanetsuga,” a peasant said as they entered the wounded tent. “I know it has been a long night for our soldiers and our lords, but we could use the help in getting our crops planted.”
The peasant bowed as he continued to talk. “We understand if you cannot help us this season as you fought extremely valiantly in the battlefield and helped take care of the wounded.”
Kanetsuga laughed. “Nonsense, my friend,” he said with a laugh. “I would be more than happy to help with the harvest season again. We must cheer up the spirits of the people as well as it is a time to celebrate! Just allow me a few minutes before I join.”
“Of course, thank you so much Lord Kanetsugu,” the peasant said before leaving.
Alakazam looked at its partner who had already lost some color. It raised its concern in its heart and Kanetsuga could feel it. He patted Alakazam's head with a weak smile. “Don’t worry, once the planting is done, I’ll take care of the wound and then sleep. You go ahead and get some rest. You worked just as hard as I did during the battle and must be exhausted.”
Alakazam watched its partner leave the tent as the dawn’s early rays started to break through the night. The pokemon left the tent and proceeded to head to its human’s private tent.
The sun has risen a few times and something was wrong back in Illusion Froslass and her human partner could sense it as they returned from their training in Avia. They had heard about the Oda forces invading from Cragspur to Illusio, but Kanetsuga had defended it bravely.
“How interesting,” Aya said. “Kanetsuga would have been at the entrance with a report over the month’s events. He’s not in sight and neither is his Alakazam.”
Her Frolass let out a hum of questioning.
“Maybe the unsuspecting warlord of Aurora moved him to a different kingdom,” Aya said and shook her head. “No. They have been strategic in making sure that someone who is originally from the kingdom and knows the terrain stays there.”
“Lady Aya,” a messenger said as he ran up to her. “I’m sorry for the delay, but I have the report.”
“Where is Kanetsugu?” Aya said. “It is unusual for him to relay on a messenger when my dear brother or myself return.”
The messenger looked nervous. “He is currently unable to, Lady Aya. That’s what my report is about.”
“Oh? He has been known to get sidetracked with helping around Illusion, but he never forgets when we are scheduled to return,” Aya said.
The messenger shook his head. “Lady Aya, Lord Kanetsuga is currently running a dangerous high fever. The doctors are unsure if he will make it through another month.”
“Lead me to him,” Aya said in the chill tone of voice that was usually reserved for Lady No.
“Yes, ma’am,” the messenger said, “but as a warning, he hasn’t been very conscious or audible in what he’s saying.”
When Aya reached his private quarters and walked inside, she instantly knew this was going to be a tough battle. Alakazam looked up at her from his spot by Kanetsuga’s side, his powers were still working on changing the bandages on the wound that was infected with puss leaking out.
“You have been doing a good job of taking care of your partner by yourself,” Aya said. “Get some rest. Frolass and I will help.”
Aya would not let anyone know that she was slightly pleased when Kanetsuga leaned his head into her chilled hands when she placed them on his sweaty forehead or that the happy hum he let out was as adorable as her Frolass.
Maybe when Ransei is finally united as one country and the war is over, maybe she will tease Kanetsugu about this. Then maybe she could convince her brother to nudge Kanetsugu to act on his feelings for her, but with a war where Nobunga has no problems exploiting weaknesses, and No taunting her about beauty whenever they are in each other’s presence, she can only enjoy these little moments. Until then, she will enjoy these moments where they can be themselves with their pokemon and not have to worry about expectations.

Have you heard the news, warriors?
Tumblr media
It’s time for another year of the Pokemon Conquest / Samurai Warriors Secret Santa!
Let's face it, this year has been rough for Ransei. So we've decided it's time to bring back some holiday cheer! We’ve had so much fun watching this exchange grow over the last three years, and we hope that year four can be the biggest one yet!
How does it work?
- Reblog this post anytime before December 1st to let us know that you want in. Once you’ve reblogged this post, send your wishlist through Tumblr’s messaging system to head mod @daphneblakess
- What should you put on your wishlist? 3 to 5 characters, ships, kingdoms, clans, etc. from the Pokemon Conquest and/or Samurai Warriors games. Please tell us which game continuities you would like your gifts to be from! This helps to make the exchange accessible to people from both fandoms, and to pair you with someone similar. NSFW requests are allowed, but only if both parties are comfortable with it and over 18.
- On December 1st, your Secret Santa will be messaged your url and wishlist. While it’s not mandatory, we encourage you to send them some friendly anons throughout the month!
- You will have until December 25th to create your gifts. We understand that not everybody feels confident gifting artwork, so your gift can also be fanfiction, a playlist, headcanons, or anything else you can think of! The only requirements are that it matches something on your recipient’s wishlist, and that it looks like you put effort into it. After all, you wouldn’t want to receive something that looked like it was made in five minutes.
- On December 25th, post your creation in the tag #pokemon conquest secret santa and tag the user who it’s for! If for some reason you won’t be able to post your gift until past this deadline, or if you have to drop out, you must notify us at least a week in advance. We understand that life can get busy around the holidays, but it’s not fair to your recipient when everyone else has gotten their gifts and you’ve left them hanging with no explanation.
- The final deadline to post gifts will be January 1st, and this will only be extended to people who message us before December 25th. Due to issues with this in prior years, we will unfortunately have to blacklist anyone who fails to post their gift by this deadline from participating in the future.
More than anything else, we want this exchange to continue being about having fun, helping people in fandom meet each other, and creating new content! We need you all to help make that happen. Happy holidays, and as always, we can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Yo @chromaticcs , I was your secret santa this year! I wrote a short fic around the Honor Trio in winter, based off the Christmas Carol story! Hope you enjoy!
“But Mitsunari, you haven’t left the castle in weeks!” Kanetsugu said as he was dragged out the door by an exhausted Mitsunari, who was also trying to force out Yoshitusgu and Yukimura.
“Even so. I have no time to entertain you all, I’m busy with the administration of Lord Hideyoshi’s-”
“Mitsunari, the country won’t fall apart in one day” Yoshitsugu said. The group were now outside the castle’s doors. “You, on the other hand, look ready to drop any second.”
“I’m doing fine!” He snapped, “Aren’t you all taking it a bit too easy? Don’t you have your own domains and lords to serve?”
“Mitsunari-” Kanetsugu tried to speak up, but by then Mitsunari had shut the doors on them.
“What shall we do?” Yukimura asked the group, “we can’t leave Mitsunari like this, he looked nearly ready to drop dead”
“That is true, but it’s difficult to change his mind when he’s determined like this. For Mitsunari, his work will even take priority over his friends. Like this, Mitsunari will certainly...” Yoshitsugu trailed off… They were all well aware of how his habits pushed people away. Without a doubt, Mitsunari could someday find himself all alone one day if he kept this behavior
“Then we shall show him the value of bonds!” Yukimura exclaimed
“And how do you propose we do that?” Yoshitsugu asked in response
“I might be able to help with that”
Sakon emerged from behind a nearby tree.
“I think I might have just the idea for this, if you’ll cooperate...”
Night fell, and Mitsunari kept working late into the night. The words on the documents before him began blurring into unidentifying squiggles, and his penmanship into abstract lines and curves. He shut his eyes, just a second wouldn’t hurt…
He was awoken by a sudden chill. The windows had been opened, and the cold rushed in. He got up to close them, but noticed another presence in the room and jumped back.
“Yoshitsugu?!”
“No, I am a spirit, taken form of one who is familiar to you.”
“Yoshitsugu, this isn’t the time to-”
“Silence!” Intense cold wind rushed in, shaking furniture and scattering papers all over the room. “You have been neglecting the people around you too long in favor of less important matters.”
Mitsunari scrambled to gather the scattered papers “Yoshitsugu, I told you already that-”
Another cold gust rushed in, Mitsunari and the spirit shielded their faces with their arms
“You will be visited by other spirits tonight, in order to make you see what you have been missing in the world beyond this castle.”
“Wait, Yoshitsugu-” a final, even stronger gust of wind picked up, and Mitsunari shielded his face once more. When it was over, he was alone in the room again, the window was shut again, and there was snow and papers all over the room.
“Did he have to leave such a mess?” he muttered as he began picking up the papers once again, hoping none were damaged.
Just as he was done picking up all the papers, the windows were once again blasted open, letting in a small blizzard as a figure clad in red appeared
“I am the spirit of the past!”
“Yukimura? You’re in this too?”
“Nay! I am the spirit here to show you the past, come!” the spirit walked up to Mitsunari and dragged him out the window, with Mitsunari struggling all the way
“Wait, I’m hardly dressed to go out in this cold.”
“Behold, these visions of the past!”
Before them, there were some crude snowmen, one appeared to be wearing a snow helmet resembling Hideyoshi’s, though perhaps it was some strange deerman with many antlers? In front of it, there was another snowman that resembled Mitsunari, or perhaps it was a fox man.
“What is this…?”
“Mitsunari, you’ve placed great importance upon doing your own work. However, you mustn’t forget that the reason you’re here, the reason you met Lord Hideyoshi in the first place was because he was in need of a break.”
“That’s true… But even so, what’s this got to-”
“Lord Hideyoshi had been working hard in battle, and his need for a break is what led him to you.”
“Listen Mitsunari. Before meeting Lord Hideyoshi, you were alone, weren’t you?”
The spirit in red pointed his lance to another snow scene, a small castle, about 2 feet tall, under siege by many little snow figures and with three snow figures defending it
“When Ueda Castle was besieged by the Tokugawa, you came and helped defend it, and made an oath with comrades.”
“What are you trying to say?”
“Mitsunari, you cannot forget your comrades and drown yourself in work.”
“That’s enough Yukimura, you can’t convince me. There are things I need to do while the Lord Hideyoshi’s land is still fresh in order to ensure it lasts.”
“Very well. Then perhaps the next spirit can convince you.”
Yukimura took him back inside, and then the snow erupted from beneath Yukimura, obscuring him from vision. He heard a squirrely voice tell Yukimura to follow her, and then he was gone. Mitsunari closed the window, wondering what Kanetsugu, who he guessed would be the next visitor, would have in store for him.
A few hours passed, Mitsunari kept working, having lost his sleepiness from the cold and being disturbed, and then the door to his room burst open and his next visitor was revealed.
“Behold! It is I, the spirit of the present!”
“Kanetsugu. At least you didn’t come in through the window and let all the snow in.”
Ignoring what he said, the spirit of the present continued
“Mitsunari, you have been overworking yourself, and you’ve been ignoring your friends as well. I am here to show you what you have been missing out on”
He opened the windows and dragged a reluctant Mitsunari outside
“Kanetsugu, wait, let me get a coat or something warm” but his complaint fell on deaf ears
The spirit of the present led him to a new snow scene, this time, there was a family of monkeys, and a small snow diorama of a sort of festival.
“Mitsunari, look! Since you were gone, Yukimura’s pet monkey has become a father! You missed the birth of Mitsunari junior!”
“You named the monkey after me?”
“And you missed a festival we had at Ueda castle! We- I mean, your friends- missed you. And what’s more, we’ve seen how much of a toll staying at your desk all day has been giving you. Earlier today, you looked just about ready to collapse. Please Mitsunari, consider taking a break, spend some time with us away from work.”
Mitsunari was silent for a bit. “Alright, I’ll consider it. But for now, leave me be. It’s too cold out here for this nonsense.” and he went back inside, leaving Kanetsugu out in the snow, hoping that his words had reached his friend.
After going back inside, Mitsunari had had enough of dealing with his friends’ antics. He knew they meant well, but his work was too important, wasn’t it? He decided to head to bed for the night, and he soon nodded off.
He awoke to another chill, but this time, it was different. He got up to shut the windows, but they were not open. This was not a chill you get from being in the cold too long. This was the chill you got when a predator has decided to make you its meal. From behind him, a low, chilling voice uttered “I am the spirit of the future”
Mitsunari quickly turned around. “You! You’re that Hojo ninja, why are you”
“I will show you what awaits you in the future.” Before Mitsunari could react, the spirit’s clawed hand reached for his face, and he saw nothing but black.
“Your manner of pushing them away will be your doom”
Mitsunari saw a battlefield before him. Yoshitsugu and Sakon lay deceased. Mitsunari was on the ground surrounded by foes. In front of him was Ieyasu, and by Ieyasu’s side were Masanori and Kiyomasa.
“This can’t be. Masanori and Kiyomasa would never-”
“Never betray the Toyotomi? No. You on the other hand, are easier to betray than you think.”
The spirit changed the vision again. Now, they were at Osaka Castle.
Yukimura was making a last stand against troops bearing the Tokugawa banner. Mitsunari tried to help, but his hands made no impact on any of the troops. The scene changed again. Osaka Castle was in flames. Then again. A small temple, and a grave bearing Mitsunari’s name.
“What trickery is this?!”
“There is no trickery here. Just the future. You will push away those close to you, and make your allies distrust you. You will be the downfall of the Toyotomi.”
“Spirit, tell me this isn’t set in stone. I can change, I will protect them!”
He got no answer. A strong wind tore the visions apart, and Mitsunari was lost alone in the dark.
The next morning, Kanetsugu, Yukimura, and Yoshitsugu were at Mitsunari’s bedside.
“Ha! I’m glad to see you have opened your heart and home to us after all Mitsunari.” Kanetsugu chuckled
“We told you it wasn’t good for you to stay working so long. Now you’ve gotten a fever from overworking” Yoshitsugu said.
“I have a fever because you all kept dragging me outside, and letting the snow in” he grumbled
“You should just take it easy Mitsunari. Let us help you for now.” Yukimura said.
“Alright alright.” he conceded to them, and got comfortable in his bed as they Yukimura brought him some tea. “Hey, what was with that “spirit of the future” last night. I understand the past and present, but wasn’t that one going too far?!”
They looked at him puzzled.
“What spirit of the future?”

Secret Santa Fanfic
@hunny-pp This is for your request in Secret Santa for this year. I hope this is great. Merry Christmas to you and Merry Christmas to everyone else. AAAA My first fanfic to be posted on Tumblr :')
Carnival Competition
Rating: K
Modern AU
Summary: Shingen and Kenshin are going to Osaka carnival to see who can win the most games at the carnival.
The carnival's in town as everyone from all over the land of the rising sun go to one of the most underrated festivals in the land; Osaka Carnival. The fun games, great food, and amazing rides that it had was all in good fun for everyone to enjoy. Once Shingen heard for himself that the carnival was going to be in town tomorrow, he just had to call Kenshin to join him for the carnival. He was disappointed that he didn't show up last year, then again they weren't dating at the time. Maybe this year would go in his favor? He and Kenshin could at least compete in the games, kinda like a battlefield? Shingen was in Osaka for a quick vacation and the carnival would be the top of the cake. With that in mind, Shingen picked up the phone and began to text to Kenshin.
Shingen: My stoic dragon "nemesis", are you still awake?
Kenshin was comfortable on his futon at his Castle, just starting to head off to bed and sending a quick prayer to Bishamonten to thank the god of war for allowing him the pleasures of life. There was wine, business, and finally Shingen. Shingen was probably one of the most worthy friend and business partner he could ask for in this life. Although he didn't show much happiness on his stoic face, his actions show that he cares for him, especially when he accepted to be Shingen’s boyfriend. Speaking of Shingen… 'Bing Bing'. Kenshin heard his phone go off. "It is almost time to go to bed… Who's texting me?" He said, visibly annoyed. He picked up his phone and once he saw the message, he softened a little bit. It was Shingen.
Kenshin: Tiger of Kai, my "nemesis", I was about to go to bed, but I can talk for a bit.
Shingen gave a good-natured chuckle at Kenshin's message sent a couple of minutes later. Of course he forgot that Kenshin would be getting to bed around this time.
Shingen: Sorry about that, I was hoping maybe this year we can go to the carnival together. Think of it as a date.
"A date?" He mouthed to himself. When was the last time they had a date together? It had been a while. They were both taking it slowly so they wouldn't be discovered and to have it at a carnival, that everyone was going to…
Kenshin: Are you sure you want me to go?
Shingen was not giving up on making him go to the carnival. They were always competitive when it came to the games. A lightbulb went off in his head. He can use the games as an excuse for him to go.
Shingen: I bet I can win a lot more games than you. Don't worry I'll give you some prizes :)
Shingen always knew how to push Kenshin's competitiveness button. They both were like strategists in their own businesses but eventually one must come on top eventually. He really now was interested in this carnival but he would conceal his intentions to him.
Kenshin: It is tempting to go to the festival to have a friendly competition. Go have fun. Good night "nemesis"
Shingen shrugged at his message. At least he tried to convince him to go. At the back of his head, he did feel that Kenshin would come here. He just had that hunch.
Shingen: Good night. Don't have a rough night.
As soon as he got Shingen’s message, Kenshin got dressed again, called his limo driver, and took a blanket. He would now begin to surprise Shingen to the festival date. "Shingen, let's see who wins the most games." he thought with confidence. They always liked competitive plays over each other. He just thought of what kind of games would be there to play as the limo left with him inside, going to Osaka, as he drifted to sleep.
~The next morning- 8 AM~
Shingen saw the shining sun glimmer in the curtains as morning came and he was just starting to wake up from the tiger's slumber. This short bald man yawned as he sat up in the bed, slowly getting his act together. It was also very hot today when the festival and vacation was in the summer. He could only imagine what the south had to deal with like the Shimazu in the summer. After 10 minutes of just sitting there, he finally got up to brighten the room. The curtains opened and Shingen shielded his eyes from the brightness a bit. Once it got adjusted, he finally saw a limo in front of the hotel. It had the Uesugi symbol on the side and the limo was white. He could see Kenshin come out the doors. "Hahaha, I knew Kenshin would be here!" Shingen said to himself. He put on a tiger print t-shirt with some khaki shorts and some sandals.
Kenshin walked out of the limo with a nice short sleeved buttoned white shirt with white pants with some nice black loafers. He was casually sleeping the whole ride so he would be well rested for today. Carnivals are mostly energy sucking. The driver let him know he's here so he doesn't have to rest during the day. "Great Bishamonten, please give me strength to have fun today and beat Shingen in a whole bunch of games." He prayed. They both met in the lobby and gave a hug. "Haha, I knew you would come. So are you ready for the carnival?" Shingen asked. Kenshin gave a small smile and nodded. "I am. Looking at the clock means that it had just started." Said Kenshin as he looked at the clock which read 9:00A.M.
Looking out at the carnival laid out before them, it was full of life and high fun energy. Many games, food stands and other attractions can be seen before them. People were walking around them full of laughter and friendly talk. You can't really hear what they had to say because there were so many people and they were loud. Shingen and Kenshin simply walked side by side together holding pinkies looking out at what games they should play.
The first game they saw was kinda strange with a huge log and there were lines in the ground. Musashi was actually the one hosting that game. "Hey you two! Do you want to try the log toss? 1 yen to try it and the rules are clearly read on the sign." He managed to get Shingen and Kenshin's attention. "You want to have a go Kenshin?" Asked Shingen. "Sure" said Kenshin blatantly.
They both walk up to the wooden sign. It was well made with no chances that anyone can get a splinter and it looked really smooth for writing on as shown in words that are painted on. It says the following:
Log toss:
'You throw a log as far as you can. This can be played for competition. If you are solo, you win a prize no matter what. If you are against each other, then the winner gets a prize.'
Shingen was known to do some lifting at the gym sometimes, Kenshin watched him while he worked so he knew as well. They've decided to do the competition version. The prizes included stuffed animals, posters and pins. Shingen went first as he went and picked it up by the sides then he spinned around a few times getting ready for the wind up. He threw it up and away pretty far and it landed with a thud and the ground shaked a bit. Musashi ran to where the log went with a measuring tape and a flag. "150 feet-1st person!" Musashi announced. Kenshin smiled at Shingen’s impressive performance. It was as expected for him as was a worthy challenge for Kenshin to try to beat.
"You're next Kenshin." Shingen said as he stood back with a smirk, a smirk that Kenshin loved a lot. "I have practiced a bit in lifting." Kenshin remarked as he picked up the log. He winded up by standing back a bit then using the force that he gathered to launch the log forward as he stepped forward. It flew not as high as Shingen did but it definitely was going far. There was a thud in the distance and Musashi was running fast with the other marker. "Not bad! It's about… 160 feet. The second person wins!" Musashi announced happily as he went to pick out a prize. Kenshin kissed Shingen on the forehead proud of his own victory. "Well done 'nemesis'." Shingen said, congratulating him. Musashi gave Kenshin a big tiger plush. 'It would be perfect for Shingen.' Kenshin thought.
Many hours go by with more prizes, food, the times they went through a funhouse and a haunted house in a succession while holding many little toys, pins, posters, more stuffed animals. It was a lot to carry for a long time, then again they had played lots of games. Games were ring toss, balloon pop, guess what's approximately in the jar, bumper cars, test your strength, and many other games.
It was the last few minutes of the carnival to be open for the day. There was one more game they wanted to try for a magnificent dragon plush. Shingen was immediately reminded of Kenshin when he saw that plush. "Kenshin! Before we go let's try this game!" They both look at the bucket of water with ducks floating right along. The sign read the following:
Lucky Duck:
'You hook a duck on the hook stick provided to you. Get a star duck (which the star is on the bottom) to win any prize you want.'
"This game sounds simple and quick." Kenshin remarked. "You can do this game." Said Kenshin as he gave the game owner 1 yen to play the game.
Shingen concentrated on the pond itself like a fire trying to get hotter by the minute. Any of those ducks could have a star on the bottom and any number of the ducks could have stars. They all looked the same. All he could do would be to guess which one had the star and which ones didn't. He took the hook stick on the ground and just went for it, eyes closed. When he opened them again, he looked underneath the duck and a gold star was at the bottom. He won the game and the dragon. "This is great!" thought Shingen as he got the dragon in his hands.
As Shingen turned he saw Kenshin take the tiger plush out of the mass of prizes they won and handed it out like it was a gift for him. Shingen saw a slight blush on Kenshin's stoic face. "So umm… this is for you 'nemesis'." Kenshin said in a softer voice than usual. Shingen laughed out of kindness a little, knowing that Kenshin wasn't used to the sometimes sweet moments of their relationship. "Thank you 'nemesis'. In return, I will give you this dragon I just won."  Shingen blushed a little bit as he received the tiger and Kenshin received the dragon. They soon divided all of the prizes in between them. Shingen’s vacation would go on and Kenshin would join in for the last week that Shingen had left.
--------------------------------------------------
P.S. as a bonus I give you some headcanons of the pairing on google slides that I made myself. This helped me create the fic lol.

The Pokemon Conquest / Samurai Warriors Secret Santa is back for year 3!!!
And whether you're a pro, or this would be your first time participating, we're happy to have you! After all, you guys' incredible creations over the last two years are why we've brought it back again.
How does it work? Simple! Reblog this post any time before December 1st to let us know that you want in. Once you've reblogged, message us your wishlist. This consists of 3-5 characters, ships, kingdoms, clans, etc. from the Pokemon Conquest / Samurai Warriors games, as well as which continuities you would like your gifts to be from. This helps us make the exchange accessible to people from both fandoms, and to pair you up with someone similar! NSFW requests are allowed, but only if both parties are comfortable with it and over 18.
On December 1st, your Secret Santa will be messaged your url and wishlist. While it's not mandatory, we encourage you to send them some friendly anons throughout the month! Who knows, it might even help give you inspiration! You will have until December 25th to create your gift. We understand that not everyone feels comfortable with an artwork exchange, so your gift can also be fanfiction, a playlist, headcanons, anything really! The only requirements are that it match up with something on your recipient's wishlist, and that it looks like you put effort into it. After all, you wouldn't want to receive something that looked like only five minutes were spent on it.
On December 25th, post your creation in the tag #pokemon conquest secret santa and tag the user it's for! If for some reason you won't be able to post your gift until past this deadline, or if you have to drop out, you must notify us at least a week in advance. We understand that life can get busy around the holidays, but it's also not fair to your recipient when everyone else has gotten their gifts and you're keeping them waiting. The final deadline to post gifts will be January 1st, and this will only be extended to people who message us beforehand.
More than anything else, we want this exchange to be about having fun and helping people in fandom meet other users! We hope to make this year even better than before, and we need you all for that to happen! As always, happy holidays, and we can't wait to see your incredible creations!

Not Worthy of the Light
 Title: Not Worthy of the Light
Category: Pokemon Conquest/Samurai Warriors
Pairing: Nene/Hanzo
One-sided: Oichi/Hideyoshi
        Nene/Hideyoshi
Rating: T
Summary: The brighter the light shines, the darker the shadow becomes. When the light dims, the shadow protects the lights and tries to restore it.
Author’s Note: Merry Christmas! @liifesword. How did you know that I love to write for rare-pairs and the pair of Nene/Hanzo is beautiful. I’m sorry that I can’t draw so I hope this story works for you. I also took some elements from the Samurai Warriors franchise and combined it with Pokemon Conquest.
Disclaimer: I own no rights to the franchises mentioned.
~~Story Begins~~
Ninjas were supposed to stay hidden in the shadows. Their names only known to their lords, but there were always those who did not fit the mold. The ninjas that do not blend in with the shadows, but filter into the light, those are the ninjas that are most dangerous when their emotions run high. If you bring upon a ninja’s personal wrath, the only thing I can advise, is to run out of town, but even then you might not make it out with your life.
-Excerpt from The Way of the Ninja by Motonari Mori
The only way Nene could be described was a candle with a flame that made shadows dance with her movements. The way she moved on the battlefield, spinning out of her enemies attack range while her Crobat swooped in for the finishing blow or a poison strike rivaled even the dances of Okuni on the stage or off the stage.
Hanzo would deny it publicity, but he knew he was a coward when it came to Nene, even though it always seemed like he was scolding her and Kunoichi. He would use excuses to visit her kingdom of Viperina, ignoring the laughter of his Spiritomb and Gengar, ignoring the knowing looks that Ieyasu and Tadakatsu shared when Hanzo was gone.
He was content to watch Nene and her Crobat from his beloved spot in the shadows.
Until that monkey showed up.
Nene’s full focus centered on that monkey and his equally ridiculous monkey partner like it was the center of her world. She treated him like he was the sun when Hanzo knew that Nene could outrival the sun with personality. Even when the monkey’s attention was making Oichi jealous over his status as Nobunga’s right-hand man.
Oichi was unimpressed and neither was Nobunga, since Nene was the one who got him that position. Nobunga also gave the proper big brother speech and the face that Hideyoshi wore is one that Kotaro still looks back on as one of his fondest memories.
That didn’t stop Hideyoshi and his quest of gaining Oichi’s heart, even to the dismay of Nobunga, Oichi, and the warlord of Aurora, and he tried another way to make her jealous. He courted Nene in public which caused a lot of warlords to give warning advice (Kotaro’s promise of chaos hidden in his message from Ujiyasu to Nene was heard) if she needed Hideyoshi to be taken care of. Hanzo was one of the many ninjas who had to resist the temptation of hunting Hideyoshi when he started to chase after other females while Nene stayed loyal to him.
No one saw the light that is known as Nene begin to dim except for the one who protected her and watched from the shadows.
~~~
The first spring breeze fluttered through the newly reawakening leaves as the region enjoys its first spring with no bloodshed. The glow of the crescent moon illuminated the dark night and the lone female with golden armor and brown hair that stood on the balcony.
“Have you come to laugh at me as well?” Nene said as tiny bumps formed on her skin. A mixture of cool air from winter trying to keep its grasp on the region as the days grew warmer and the ominous feeling of being prey that always accompanies two ninjas from the shadows.
“…No,” Hanzo said as he stood beside his fellow ninja. His black and dark purple armor blending into the night, the only movement that was noticed in the night was the black hair tied out of his face. A simple illusion to think his enemies were being attacked from the corner of their eye, but their fate already sealed as the ninja was behind them.
They stood there in comfortable silence, a trait that calmed Nene so much during the war in Ransei. Her Crobat flew into the night, just as careless as her partner used to be and not the shell that she is now. His Gengar watched from the shadows just as vigilant as his own partner.
“He’s an idiot,” Hanzo said.
“Is the world ending after the war stops?” Nene said. “Kuniouchi said the same thing to me this morning. In fact, that was her alarm for me.”
“…”
“Everyone has been watching me, but you have kept an eye on me even beforehand. I always found it comforting and even now it’s been a big comfort. Especially since I know he’s in town right now, trying to outdrink Keiji and chatting up Okuni.”
“Okuni finds the monkey dull and boring,” Hanzo said. “The monkey is not work the pain. You are worth more than him with your Crobat alone, let alone your own ninja skills.”
“Hanzo…”
“We work in the shadows, Nene,” Hanzo said. “We can mask our emotions until the perfect moment arises for our revenge. His guard is never up, it is always down. Even when we were in war.”
The silence between them came back as they stared at the moon. The silhouette of a Crobat cawing out its sorrow of his mistress’s heart the only sound in the night.
“Hanzo.”
 A slight movement of his amethyst eyes let her know she had his attention. It was little movements that she had to look for when he interacted with the other lords to see how he treated them. It took awhile for her to realize she was one of the two lords who used body language to talk.
“Can I borrow your Gengar for a few nights?”
“…If you must.”
~~
Ninjas must always hide their emotions in case their enemies use it to their advantage. However, there are two sides to every tale, ninjas emotions can also be their most powerful weapon. Soon, the region of Ransei would know that the anger of Lady No or Lady Aya and their long feud over beauty did not make them the scariest woman in the region. For the anger that Lady Nene had shown made Lady No and Lady’s Aya child’s play in comparison.
-Excerpt from The Warlords of Ransei by Motonari Mori
~~
The older Warlords watched as Hideyoshi started to become paranoid. His two trusted officials, Kanbei and Hanbei, both had a knowing look, but refused to say anything. Kanbei has been the one to keep Ignis in order and with the help of Hanbei, Nobunga, and the warlord of Aurora, they were working on making a treaty to force Hideyoshi into giving up Ignis to Kanbei as he has been neglectful in his duties as a warlord.
When they finally found Hideyoshi, his Inferape told their pokemon about how his master has been haunted by nightmares and hallucinations. That it was just this morning, Hideyoshi had woke up to a blade being pressed against his neck by Lady Nene with Crobat’s fang dripping with a dark purple liquid right above the blade. What she said to Hideyoshi, Inferape did not know, but Hideyoshi had been rocking in the corner of a dark room for a majority of the day.
~~
“Hanzo, are you here to question me over Hideyoshi’s claim?” Nene said when she felt that familiar chill that no longer made her feel like prey (unless it came from the agent of chaos).
“I do not know of what you speak of,” Hanzo said with a slight glint in his eye that told her he was playing ignorant.
“Then what brings you here?”
“Lord Ieyasu has personally let me go from his services and I am in search of a new master,” Hanzo said.
“Do you wish to join me in Viperia?” Nene said.
“If I may be of service to you, Your Ladyship.” Hanzo said.
