ik ben niet de grootste fan van kunstplanten, maar geen enkele plant overleefde het in het donkerste hoekje van de woonkamer. zonder plant is het écht te kaal, dus toch voor twee neppers gekozen. en ze staan eigenlijk best wel goed!

found these two leaves on a sad (but growing) snakeplant i bought for pennies from someone else in my building on the verge of rot in their mostly peat soil, lets hope they root (and i ordered a chunky succulent soil to replace everything) fun fact about yellow variegated sanseverias: when you prop them like this they will lose their yellow coloring which is a big win for fans of mostly green snake plants

💐 once you receive this lovely bouquet of flowers, you have to mention five things you love, publicly, and send it to 10 of your favorite followers if you want. SPREAD POSITIVITY! ⛅️
🥹🥹🥹 thank you bby, I’m honored 🫶🫶
Five things i love? Alright, let’s go:
1. I love my kid, and his perfect little face, and his sweet voice when he says mama. I love his little fingers and toes, and i love dancing with him to sesame street music and looking like an idiot just to see him smile.
2. I love my Husband. He works hard for us, and comes home dog tired, but he still stays up until midnight just to spend time with me, and you’d never hear him complain about being tired. He does my share of them housework when i don’t feel well, he always makes sure I’ve eaten before he so much as takes a bite. And he takes me to spend money on plants!! 🪴
3. I LOVE PLANTS!!! Monstera babies, sanseveria babies, philodendron babies….i love them all. I love the way they reach for the sun, and how it feels to get my hands into the soil and feel the life in them.
4. I love sitting by the big window in my living room in the early morning, listening to the birds, and just breathing. Feeling the sun on my skin and just soaking up all the happy feelings.
5. I love fruit! I grew up in a rural area, so cantaloupe and watermelon, plus a liiiiittle bit of salt is *mwah* chefs kiss. It’s not for everyone, but it’s for me! I love going to local places to pick fresh blueberries and raspberries, and going to the farmers markets in town on Saturdays 🤤🤤🤤 you’ve never had a peach like a locally-grown peach 🍑

Pet Plants, the pun edition
So I’ve accidentally (and I mean I bought ZERO of these things) amassed a small army of houseplants and they’re all named for the bit. Well, one of them is less the plant being named than the container, because it’s filled with succulents. Anyway I’m listing them in order of acquisition because I really ought to sit in front of my sun lamp for at least another ten minutes.  HONORABLE MENTION: Vinelein. Started as a cutting from my mom’s pothos that the dog accidentally tore up by knocking it over, became, well, a vine. Honorable mention because after I moved cross country @seeingteacupsindragons got custody of Vinelein (although neither of us are particularly Heinlein fans, Vinelein was named for the bit) and now occasionally messages me for reassurance that he’s not dying, he’s just ugly.  1) Veronica: A planter shaped like a hippopotamus that I fill with succulents. And refill occasionally because not all succulents are either indoor winter two feet of snow hardy or summer was 100 degrees F and counting hearty. 2) Tiptree: I got an apartment out here and my mom got me another pothos. Instant text to tea of “name this plant” returned Tiptree, with the implication that even if I was going to name my plants after authors I should at least pick good ones.  3) Peter Parker & Miles Morales & (eventually) The Spiderverse: They’re spider plants. They propagate like hell. I have no idea if my original two offshoots of the spiderverse are the ones currently in my apartment because I keep clipping the shoots off and shoving them back into the pot to root. I could probably supply half the apartment complex with members of the spiderverse. 4) Ibn Siena: An aloe plant. Named for Ibn Siena / Avicenna because I did, unfortunately, archaeology and spanish minors. I have yet to make anything from his bits because I have avoided getting sunburnt and also I suspect based on the fact that he does nothing but get tall that he’s not actually an aloe vera, just a normal desert aloe. 5) Phineas Gage: A Sanseveria, aka “railroad ice spike plant” Looks like if super thick knitting needles had chlorophyll. Caused my brother to go “REALLY?” when I told him the name and asked what kind of plant it actually was, since “Ice spike plant” was ungoogleable and Phineas was oozing a bit. Phineas has since stopped oozing so I’m guessing it was a minor injury from crowding in with Ibn Siena on my windowsill.
6, Technically) Basil Rathbone, Ty Lee, and Lemony Snickett: Annual herbs, currently waiting for spring  / a viable looking plant on sale for me to replant them. Nether Basil, Thai Basil, nor lemongrass overwinters in this apartment, sadly. I was not supposed to name the plants I ate but that did not stop me. They’ll get the second, third, etc. appended to their names when I obtain new herbs. 7) Medeusa: Medeusa is a snake plant in a vase shaped like a head. an Owl’s head, but anyway.  8) Piney The Elder: I now have a NORFOLK ISLAND PINE I have no idea how much space he’s going to take up when he’s out of his christmas wrapper but I only have so much window. Currently knee high.

Today I managed to:
repot the sanseveria
repot two of the spider plants in the living room
take the trash out
wash a load of laundry
These are three items of a long list of things to do :(
While in the laundromat I frogged half of an orchid blossom (unfinished half was one row too low) and when I wanted to redo it, I found another mistake (stem too short). I want to bite something. Or cry. :(

what kind of plant should I get if im living in a dorm room with not much natural light and not much owner attention to give?
:0 well there's a few options. if you have absolutely no window but lamps / an overhead that stays on for a decent chunk of the day, any bamboo, sanseveria or aglaonema variation, several dracean variations, the zz plant, the spider plant, the peace lily, or the cast iron plant. several of these plants you could grow in a cup of water, but if not, planted in soil and then watered thoroughly when the soil is dry is fine too (usually every 2 weeks? depends on the airflow and temp in your dorm- if its warmer/draftier you may need to water once per week).
if by "not much natural light" you mean it recieves some light but only for a certain time of day, or something else, but you DO get some sunlight, then i'd recommend a christmas cactus, jade plant, kalanchoe or aloe vera (this is only if you get sunlight and put them on the window). they're desert succulents/cacti and can dry out well in between each watering. some may not need water for a month at a time.
for some indirect sunlight (meaning they're not hit directly by the sun but are recieving the light) i'd recommend any pothos and diffenbachias, and most philodendrons, excluding maybe the more rare and expensive ones. pothosnjoy, philodendron brasil, scindapsus exotica and diffenbachia tiki are specific examples.
umm my personal fav plants (they're not for everyone) that could also work are any variation of the ficus elastic, or ficus rubber tree (theres burgundy, ruby, tineke, etc), SYNGONIUMS (the white butterfly/strawberry cream/marie can be found for cheap), the nerve plant (fittonia), blue star fern or most pepperomia variations (watermelon is nice).
whatever you end up getting, unless they already come in good soil, they'll probably need to be repotted. i'd just recommend getting a plastic pot and then putting that into thr nicer pot, so you can keep an eye on the root system etc. any cacti or succulents will need their own mix, most other houseplants are fine in an indoor/tropical houseplant mix.
then yeah, put it into its spot, water it thoroughly whenever the water is dry, and if its a plant that flowers you can give it food. otherwise, just don't put it in the direct line with a fan or vent. should be fine!
this became a lot, but i hope it helps!

Extraction and Characterization of Natural Cellulose Fibers from Sanseveria Trifasciata Plant- Crimson Publishers
The present study was undertaken to investigate fibers extracted from Sanseveria Trifasciata leaves and to analyze their physical behavior of the fiber. The fibre was extracted from the leaves by retting method. Physical and mechanical characterizations were performed on Sanseveria Trifasciata fiber (STF): fibre strength, elongation, fiber length, fineness, diameter and moisture content. The functional elements of the fiber were studied using FTIR spectroscopy for better understanding of their behavior. Thus, the above characteristics confirm that this fiber has wide scope in the field of textiles application.
