Ruby using Scarecrow's scythe and Blake using Deathstroke's bo staff and katana (and Weiss possibly using one of Captain Cold's Cold Guns) makes some sense when we see that while in the Hall of Justice they don't have weapons of any kind

they haven't arrived on Earth with their weapons, so they have to make do with stuff the League have in lockup when they're called in to action

which also explains why the weapons don't really match their aesthetics (the scythe looks more like a genuine farming implement than a weapon that fits Ruby's design, the staff has orange accents which don't match with Blake's outfit), they're just using borrowed gear because they don't have time to make their own

As much as I enjoyed seeing Laura in Deadpool & Wolverine, one thing has been bothering me since opening night, and I can’t shake it:

Why did Marvel design her a shirt that says “Savage”?

It’s a fictional band t-shirt. I spent hours reverse image searching and browsing album covers and tour posters of bands with related names, album titles, and song titles, and while it’s clearly inspired by real rock bands and tours, it was nevertheless made up. They actively chose to make up a shirt with a derogatory racial term for a group Laura and the actress who plays her is not a part of for her to wear. Someone was paid by Marvel to design it. Why?

Now companies are selling copies of the shirt, so more people will be out in the world wearing a shirt with a term that, whether you want to call it a slur or just a “derogatory racial term,” has a dark, violent history and makes many Native Americans uncomfortable. It is a word that was used to justify cultural genocide within my parent’s lifetime, that has been used as a justification for racist discrimination and hatred within our lifetimes, not just Logan’s lifetime.

Logan had band logos, too. They used Awaken the Dreamers by All Shall Perish. The title track is about fighting for human rights and ending oppression, the design features the Statue of Liberty holding a gun, not a torch, surrounded by the silhouettes of swarming military planes. Now in Deadpool & Wolverine, we’re casually using the word savage, sticking it on a “feral” character with a reputation for violence. It could be powerful if Laura were Native. She escaped from a government run institution systematically abusing and dehumanizing children based on their heritage. Logan cast primarily people of color to play the X23 children. Gabriela Lopez died at the Liberty Motel and Logan died at what was described at “the last stop on the mutant underground to Canada”. They utilized the mutant metaphor very deliberately, and I feel that Deadpool & Wolverine’s choice of costuming for Laura did that a disservice.

(Yes, I’m aware of Savage Wolverine. Its potential as an Easter egg for a racist comic book title doesn’t make it not racist)

Forge Beetles

I’ve wanted to make something like this for ages but never had motivation or something to make it for. Until now! I decided to elaborate and explore more about my OC’s species, more specifically his tribe. Hrelgere is a Forge Beetle. They’re a species I made up that are based on the predaceous diving beetle! These bugs hail from the Wild Land and are easily the most dangerous sapient species there. They’re essentially orcs in bug form.

Very happy with these monstrous freaks of nature. Would like to make more about them in the future! More specifically my dedicated OC.

the “russian propoganda farms are making you think america is uniquely bad” thing is so. firstly you gotta take it up with american publishers because books from the library conjoined with what i see and observe in my own life is what took me from being a rather moderate liberal to this point. secondly there’s this assumption that american citizens have a skewed negative bias about their own country because, what, there’s so much anti-american material being disseminated as opposed to nationalistic, exceptionalist, general “look at how fucked up other countries are” narratives? as opposed to people of a state being primarily concerned with the failings of their own state rather than what, pointing fingers at another country and being like “Well They’re Fucked Too” and then ultimately do nothing? or what, is the idea that you get more support for the US military so they can Intervene and fuck things up more before we fix our own failings? what is the point of saying this.

The scratch of the nail file against the acrylics on his own hand were soft, articulate and filled with precision.
