scent of the day: whispers in the library (maison martin margiela)

now this i adore. it's a simple, linear fragrance, but it's really well executed. the vanilla is warm and papery, the woods smell resinous like freshly polished furniture, and there is a bit of an camphoraceous/resinous incense note too, but not in a church service kind of way. it enhances the dust-motes-caught-in-a-sunray atmosphere of the fragrance and also hints at the scent properties of ink and binding materials, and even of an apothecary's medicinal cabinet. very evocative and faithful to the premise of an old library.

whispers in the library's vanilla is so heady it verges on boozy. avoid if that's not your type of scent or if you have an aversion to anything mothball-adjacent, but if you've ever felt intoxicated by the scent of an old bookshop (minus any sneeze-inducing dust), this will be a dream come true. it's very gender-neutral, too. it may be one of my favourite replica scents, next to coffee break.

🍁FALL SIGNATURE🥃

I’m aware it was over hyped( but I still like it), especially since fall is on the way. I also noticed, some batches are “sweeter” than others.as long as it’s not cloying ,I’ll still like it! I will say sometimes I prefer Khamrah by Lattafa. It has a nice nutty balance, I think it’s the nutmeg? Some ppl claim Khamrah is a clone,which I strongly disagree with. Both are fire, I want them bad for fall season, I think they’ll be my signature if I can afford them.😅

molecule 01: iso e super

bronze: (top) rum, neroli, bergamot, (middle) heliotrope, sandalwood, guaiac wood, (base) vanilla, amber, musk

description: both of these fragrances complement each other so well and together produce the effect of an angel on her off-day. molecule 01 on its own, and layered with anything has a cozy blanketing effect and provides its sheer aura of sandalwood. bronze is a boozy vanilla that has a sweetly hazy effect from the neroli and heliotrope. layered, they dance around one another to create what is best described as an essence– sweet, haunting, ethereal, melancholic?

occasion: relaxing, daytime, work

scent of the day: infusion d'amande (prada)

it is a truth universally acknowledged that all hot girls suffer from birthday blues, but this is almost good enough to snap me out of that inevitable, existential sort of disappointment. i gambled on trying it for the first time today and won big time. it's as powdery as they come, just how i like it, reminiscent of the great vintage classics of perfumery — or baby wipes, depending on your personal frame of reference. it smells clean in an androgynous, delicate and elegant way: almonds (not bitter, marzipan-like benzaldehyde; more like warm almond meal) and anise and lots of coumarin make it smell addictive but not heavy.

the heliotrope is what seals the deal for me. it's probably one of my favourite notes in perfumery, also present in my signature scents (après l'ondée and l'heure bleue by guerlain), and it characteristically expands into a luminous and intoxicating golden floral aroma when the fragrance is warmed on the skin (i.e. by someone's breath, in a warm room, or in the shower), giving it a responsive and intimate profile that i just adore. i thought i had sworn off buying full bottles, but this is extremely tempting. you know what, this might well be 26-year-old me's new signature scent.

Scent of the day: Big Love for him, by Exuma fragrance co (on Etsy)

It’s very light and easily wearable, one of my favorites in my collection. I love Exuma in general because it not alcohol based so my sensitive skin doesn’t freak out. It’s a floral almost citrusy scent with a masculine undertone. And the bottle have adventurine (not sure I spelled that right) crystals in it. I’ve gotten so many compliments when wearing it.

scent of the day: alkemia aurora

notes: soft cashmeran, orris root, cardamon infused coconut milk, white amber, white musk, white violet, white ginger, lotus flower, and a touch of honeyed cream

description: aurora reminds me a little of glossier's moisturizing moon mask— a thick, creamy cloud with a slightly spicy tinge around the perimeter. the mask smells more sterile and linear while aurora is thoughtfully layered with white musk and amber, adding a comforting, sweet warmth. as this cloud approaches, i first take in white ginger, cardamom, and fresh lotus flower. this green blend almost serves to cleanse the palate for what next follows, a dense base that whisks powder and musk into an enveloping fluffiness where violet & orris root dance in the background. this perfume smells like being wrapped in a cashmere robe, sipping warm honey ginger tea, as the luxurious moisturizer you applied settles into your skin.
