A while back I was asked to make a school cone. For those who do not know the custom. It’s large cone filled with sweets and school supplies gifted to first graders when they start school to ‘sweeten the day’.
Those cones can be bought completely finished or as a blank to be customised depending on how much time one is willing and able to spend.
(see and read more under the cut)
Mine here is a mix. The orange part was bought blank the green on added because I was explicitly told it had to be 1m large at least!
I went for the dinosaur theme because that was the phase then, searched for patterns and materials and finally decided to go for felt. The grassy looking ribbons are made of felt too to cover up the lines where I added more cardboard for extra length.
There’s also a felt tip, because the tips are the weak point, at some point the cone stands on the ground they bend (there are actually even small wooden caps to prevent that... caps I could not find in the short amount of time I had left to get this done)
Usually those cones are closed with crepe paper, but that didn’t quite vibe with the rest so I built a paper mâche volcano which was a lot of fun for me too.
Last I added the name in different reptile skin embossed papers.

Oh hey, fun fact I just remembered: at the edges of your vision, you can see motion but not color.
Seems wrong, doesn’t it? There’s no black-and-white area to the sides. But that’s because your brain guesses and fills it in.
Here’s the test:
Get some squares of colored paper, or anything else that’s all the same size but different colors. Felt pens, DVD cases, whatever. Pick one without looking (or have a friend do it for you.)
Look straight forward, holding the thing out to the side and behind you, so you can’t quite see it yet. Move it forward until you do. Wiggle as necessary.
When you first see something moving, you won’t be able to say what color it is, and it will be maddening. You can guess! But it’s just a guess! Then when you look, you may be completely wrong!
It’s a fun game for parties, and blowing your friends’ minds.

Okay, could we have a breakdown of the cone snail episode because it shows so much character development it's unreal.
I've been putting off analysing this episode for song long because everyone does it but since you asked nicely-
He's terrified when Dashi explains the roaring 40s (they are actually real things, theres also the furious 50s and the screaming 60s no I'm not making this up)
Welcome to episode 13639274 of Peso And Role Model #1. Here we find Peso and Role Model in their natural habitat; staring wistfully out the window and intensely foreshadowing. Peso wants to know everything that Role Model knows, and Role Model is happy to flex their Role Modelling skills.
Peso did it with no practise at all you're not as cool as you think-
But for real though, Peso had no practise - he just read a few pages of a manual he didn't understand anyway and he just got up and did it seamlessly when he had to not 2 hours later.
You wrote it babe why are you reading it when clearly you already know how to pilot the ship I'm sorry my mind doesn't like this
Peso is genuinely confused why Barnacles was asking him of all people to read the manual. The other crew members would be much better for the job because they're stronger and have more experience. But Barnacles asked Peso. He knows he can do it.
If Barnacles thinks he can do it, Peso will try. And you bet he read that book for the entire time before the world started blowing up and he had to go do doctor things.
No pic for this but we're not gonna mention that cone snail stings can and will kill you if not treated within the first hour because every single person on that ship should be dead right now.
Ok we're getting to the good stuff now...
Barnacles gets special treatment because Peso doesn't wanna lose his Role Model #1. He's on his own now. No one to help him except for the Vegimals but we all know they're not much help in this situation.
Do I even need an explanation for this one??
He knows he has to do it. He's the only one who can.
(Sorry about the goofy screenshot lol)
Barnacles got this psychology thing going and Peso's like "what does that even mean??" and completely ignores it, but then it gets him thinking:
This is Peso's big break moment. This sets the scene for his entire character for the rest of the show. Realising he's actually doing something that's inside his comfort zone is relieving and means that he can do it.
He's proud of himself and he knows Barnacles is gonna be proud of him too, and he's so glad that everyone is safe despite the fact that everyone he loves is dying under his care /j
Barnacles got to watch Peso actively overcoming his fears and saving literally everyone on the ship. Peso's entire character arc happens in this one episode, and Barnacles is so proud of his little boi.
No need to be modest babe we all know you're awesome.
Anyway that's the end of this analysis, it wasn't as good as the last one and I've seen better ones on this episode (which of course I cannot find when I need them for inspiration)
If anyway has any more episodes or characters you want me to analyse (or literally anything else tbh) please put it in the ask thing I love getting asks!!

Kevin did this interview today while Sky and I ran around the park + pond by our house. It was 39 degrees and overcast so Sky and I were the only ones playing at the park. I selfishly had a big sigh of relief upon seeing the empty park, and then I hear her ask, “where are the kids?” My social butterfly 🦋
I really want to listen to this episode. I don’t usually listen to his interviews unless I have to transcribe them for the magazine or an article, but I’m very instigued by Sarah. Jen Pastilof is her friend and wrote the forward of the book. Jen is someone I really look up to. She’s been very open about her mental health struggles, her deafness, eating disorders, etc as she teaches yoga, co-parents her young son, and connects with big names in both Hollywood and in the “wellness community” to make pretty big waves.
Jens book, On Being Human, really changed my life and helped me have the guts to sign up for my YTT in 2019. She has a hashtag called No Bullshit Motherhood on social media which I adore. She’s really one of the few people in this professional world that I relate to and I can FEEL is being 100% authentic. No shame is a big part of her life perspective and knowing Jen speaks so highly of Sarah… I was so excited to read this book. And not only that, to be SENT this book to read for an interview that I get to co-conduct in a few weeks time. 🤍
I meditated for less than 10 minutes this morning but I have to do this every single day. Not a couple times per week. I have to get back on the therapy wagon and stay the fuck on it. Need to do yoga more, too.
Whewww. End of the year. Time for reflecting.
