All Americans get into at least one car crash within there life time is actually statistically wrong. Car crash Gerald is a statistical outlier and should not have been counted.

If Retrograde Motion mc were to try out scp 666 1/2 what would happen and what do they think about the 682 just gave up and die after trying it
It'd be difficult in the first place to convince MC to eat it in the first place and if they do, they might just die to end the suffering early

173 Influential SCPs
I went to SCPper, found the most upvoted articles by users who've made at least one SCP, and sorted by time. These aren't necessarily the 173 best articles on the site, but I think they're likely to be the most influential. Longtime fans have probably read most or all of these but maybe this could be a starting point for newcomers.
I think sorting by time is important because the Foundation's been around almost 17 years. Writers come and go, trends come and go, new writers are influenced by what came before, and later articles are often longer and more complex than earlier ones. Just sorting by most upvoted bounces you around time; on the main wiki you read mostly series 1 articles then get dunked into SCP-5000. I hope this is a more natural progression, and that by the end people have more context for what's going on.
Using upvotes from writers only is important because the more writers like an article, the more likely later SCPs are to be influenced by it, so those articles are more likely to be important for understanding the wiki as a whole.
I might do an alternate version of this list that replaces the extremely long articles with shorter SCPs.
If you have trouble understanding one of the articles (some of the later ones get LONG), look it up on r/SCPDeclassified. If you would prefer audio narration/explanations, The Exploring Series and TheVolgun are both excellent. And of course, make sure to look in the sidebar on the wiki for guides, lists and explanations.

Oh let me recommend you some that I like that are a bit obscure by mainstream standards but I still think are pretty neat
Serious ones:
SCP 5733(if you end up liking it also check out SCP 6733)
SCP 1508
SCP 3171
SCP 2884(Extremely relevant at this point.you'll see why)
SCP-5167(this is way better than it should be, you'll see why)
Joke SCP-s
SCP 666 1/2-J
SPC-3008-J(you'll like this one)
SCP-3333-J
That's all for now, let me know if you like them
These were all absolutely wild, thanks for the recs! I do remember hearing about SCP-3008 at one point because an endless nightmare IKEA is just one of those concepts that tends to get some serious mileage, but reading the full story was honestly fucking hilarious.

I figured out something too.
It’s more of a “I saw a question on author clefs blog and it’s making me think”
But he says clef technically isn’t an scp. So he’s not in containment
And he’s technically right. The scp clef was involved in was one that directly affected him. It wasn’t him that got contained, it was the house he lived in, the trauma he went through. After he was brought in the foundation didn’t know how to handle him, but he ended up working with them.
He has a number, but he’s not in containment.
My only similar example would probably be something like Gerald and 666-j. It’s his number but it’s not HIM being contained. It’s his driving skills.
Hmm

been reading a lot of scps lately and i think my favorite kind is the kind with like, neat implications about the nature of things
some i think are kind of a mess, they get carried away with "what if there was a cool guy" and unless they can sell me on their cool guy (they can't) I'm fuckin out
scp-093, the red sea object, is my all time fave- it isn't perfect, but it does some really neat stuff with the idea of like, an alien intelligence abusing the structure of religion to get what it wants, and the changed world its decisions resulted in
but then there's fuckin... 4444, garber gore. what if a dangerous invading alien species was a fucking idiot. it's a funny way to take the 2000 election and make it into entertaining sci-fi.
666-J deserves to be a standard non-joke entry, I love the idea of a guy whose interactions with any and all vehicles are explosive devastation. it kind of takes my own anxiety about driving and says "is this you?" and makes me laugh at it, which is pretty cool
6599, which is literally scott steiner being so online that he manifests in your house and beats you up, is absurd from every angle- including and especially the fight with Damien toward the end- but it absolutely rules because it's a fun take on interacting with and rehabilitating the classic "internet tough guy"
finally, 5655 is essentially a wish-granting genie that sucks, and i love it a lot. in this case, a lot of the neat implications are just about where this little guy gets his magic, but in this one case, they did in fact make some guy that i like
now obviously there are some fun reads out there like the Tiamat story, and i like those too, but the ones that really grab me tend to be somewhat tightly focused on how the SCP affects things and why it needs/needed to be contained, rather than "it's a scary murder monster that makes you poop all your bones and it floats through walls"
not to be too reductive but practically all of the "what if there was a scary man" scps are like this to me
anyway the scp wiki is still a fun read after all this time, i just found it noticeable how after the 6000 series or so, a lot of the top-rated ones are more about The Adventures of One Weird Guy and the stuff he encountered rather than, well, what I'm looking for
but that's bound to happen in a decade of website, I'm sure someone will write something that kicks ass and post it like, tomorrow

SCP-666-½-J: The Roaring Flames of Hell
SCP-666½-J is a crab-stuffed mushroom entrée produced by the internal Foundation catering service Containment Cuisine for the 45th annual Site-19 Foundation Formal. Roughly 42% of the 1,500 attendees consumed SCP-666½-J and were subsequently affected by its anomalous properties. SCP-666½-J's effects started to become apparent approximately one hour after the conclusion of the main course, at which time event goers began to complain of slight abdominal pain. By the second hour, many attendees were complaining of significant digestive distress and all restrooms in the immediate vicinity were filled to capacity with extended queues. By the third hour, medical, investigative, and plumbing personnel were being flown in from surrounding sites to aid in relief efforts.
SCP-PL-KOT-J: It's a social experiment
This has no description, it's just a picture of a cat.
