Hey everyone! So today, I finished reading the second edition of “Film Studies: The Basics” by Amy Villarejo. Now, I know there is a 3rd edition, but I don’t own that one. Maybe for Christmas. But I don’t own it now so this is the one I’m talking about. I first got this book because I took a class called “Religion and Film: Screening The Sacred” and our professor gave us the second chapter to read. I decided to find and buy the whole book because, if one chapter is good, then the whole book must be great for my studies. I can kind of see why he only had us read the second chapter. That is the only chapter that trains people on how to read films in a textual way, which is what we were doing for the class. The rest of it is a lot of study on how movies are made and how to think about the contexts of movies and different schools of thoughts about movies, but not a lot that a person would use to identify religious messages in movies. However, I should have read this book earlier because I now, in retrospect, would have found this so helpful in my Critical Approaches to Literature class. So I guess better late than never, right? If you want to think about films more critically, I would highly recommend this book. The material is all pretty great, with chapter 2 being the most practical for, as mentioned earlier, giving you the tools to articulate points about films. However, the book is pretty short and covers a ton of history and theory and concepts all relating to film, but they are pretty shallow as a result of this. This is a good starting place that would introduce you to directions you might want to look more into (from the history of the camera to the way capitalism affects films). But if you already know a lot about film studies or aren’t interested in it at all, probably not something you’d enjoy. Letting you know about 5E's mess.

So yes, I am very well aware of the current dilemmas about 'Wizards of the Coast' and Hasbro's TTRPG licensing shenanigans. I already despised that corporation but as with the recent developments with their ~OGL 1.2 and all, felt like a good time to remind you all, and tell you how it is going for me on that front.

In fact, I am so invested into much that I bought Pathfinder SecondEdition core rulebook twice and got the first bestiary as well. I am currently taking notes and hints from what I like best from the 5.1E material I got at home before I sell those books. And whilst I have yet to start reading the other TTRPG material I got, including PF2E, I stand strongly for Paizo and their ORC license and all those F(L)OSS-y matters.

I am well aware I could try making my own TTRPG as well, considering my very needs for modern cozy hex-crawls and all. And as that is still coming about in the creative processes, right now I just wanted to share this update to let you all know to NOT trust WotC, and let me recommend you to try out the galaxy of TTRPGs present out there, among them being Pathfinder 2E, Cyberpunk RED, iXe and Wonderfall. I do own each of these entries but I don't own any quantity near everything under the sun.

Captain Cinderella and her band of murder hobos.

On the prison boat. Tom is on the boat dealing with a problem that leads to a new understanding about life. The guards knew to leave the prisoners alone until their shift ended. “Look here, ‘ John spoke quietly with a wicked grin, the door slowly opening. Proudly speaking as he unlocks every cell door. ‘A prison break.”

Etune rests while the boat rocks side to side during his first night in his new cell, relaxing comfortably on wood and his pillow. The warmth of his fluffy clothes and blanket made him feel at peace. He sighs at the thought, ‘ Finally~’.

Etune’s cell door creeks open, a mad man enters whispering proudly, “Prison break, wakey-wakey.’ Snickering, ‘ time to leave.” Sneaking over to another cold cell.

‘I’m not getting up. I’m NOT getting UP!’ Closing his eyes tight, heavy armor falls to the ground. 

“Great!” He whispers sarcastically, cringing his nose. 

Two minutes passed. As expected, the human was right and the prisoners neared to the stair case to the second floor shushing one another here and there while Mr. Flower rolled up his things and packed for what’s to come after they storm the stair case and left the room. Loud, obnoxious, screams could be heard from his cell while he waited calmly. He takes a moment to breathe before walking out of his cell strolling towards the stair way, himself.

He started to feel his heart knot. ‘Men, only following orders.’ Stepping over their bodies, picking up a long spear, he meets up with the other prisoners. Captain Snow fleeing into his studies while his men fight for their lives, ‘coward’ Etune coldly thought, finding a place to sit and rest.

Making it up to the deck, six sailors remained, and their Captain. Rumor has it, if Etune recalled, their Captain was ruthless and savage towards his men than his prisoners. ‘Eh. This could work.’ he waits as the Captain and prisoners are surrounded. Rolls 15 on diplomacy. “Oi!’ alerting all the sailors,’Kill Captain Codfish and join our crew! “ He announced. The crew ponders, “He ran to his money!” The Captain laughs, a soldier bleeding from an attack howls in pain. 

The sailors listen and kill the captain while the sailor impaled by Etune’s spear was thrown overboard before he began to protest. A prisoner jumps overboard retrieving his spear and mauls the impaled man.

A cat grabs the hat of the dead captain. Standing proud overall, the cat speaks “I AM CAPTAIN CINDER! EVERYONE BRING ME APPLES OR SUFFER!!” Laughing manically. Captain Cinder and her murder hobos sail to Baldur’s Gate.
