Appreciation (for who they are, rather than what they do) 
Sounds like: 
“I love how passionate you are about things you are interested in”
 “You always take a minute to appreciate the simple things, it’s special” 
“You’re so kind to anyone you interact with, I love watching it” 
Open Curiosity (curiosity around their emotional state, their internal world) 
Sounds like: 
“what’s on your mind or in your heart?”
“how are you feeling about all of this?”
“i’m here if you want to talk about anything or process it all.” 
Simple Connection (intentionally making time to do things together) 
Looks like: 
playing music in the kitchen + making a meal together 
going on a hike or sitting together in nature 
trying a new restaurant together, taking a class, or doing something new for the both of you 
Energy Awareness (awareness + consideration of their emotional state) 
Sounds like: 
“I’m going through something, do you have the space to listen?” 
“are you looking for feedback or advice, or just a space to be heard?”
“i want to acknowledge i’m not really in the space to socialize recently, it’s nothing personal at all.” 
Freedom To Be Self (allows for authentic expression) 
Able to: 
take time and space for self when needed 
say no or have limits without fear
fully be yourself without hiding or denying parts of your reality 
encouragement towards growth + mutual evolution

2023.11.04 Rest and prepare, fire babe - Eight of Wands (reversed)
As a fire babe (Aries sun, Leo rising), eight of wands always feels personal to me. Familiar, relatable, and bracing. I know many sides of this card, including the special kind of fatigue that comes on its heels. It’s not a bad fatigue, but it is unique. Like how a swim workout and a running workout produce different feelings of muscular tiredness. In my history, intense recovery after this card has been necessary. However, today’s reversal is teaching me that maybe there is a way to vibe eight of wands energy that doesn’t necessitate recovery.
Usually this reversal stirs emotions that I am all too accustomed to in my daily life as a fire babe: feeling stuck, feeling like developments are slower to move than I’d like, feeling like I want to apply the kinetic energy of this card to force movement and change. Gah, the endless frustration of “it doesn’t need to be like this!”
Delightfully, this time, I am not feeling the usual dread and bracing for fatigue. It seems more like an offering of respite. The “coil and release” as Leah Pantéa describes this card in their deck, will happen in its time - truly, I can’t stop it, as it is part of my nature and my path. Right now, during reversal, I can rest and wait and find peace in the waiting (that’s new to me, and wow is it welcome). I can nurture the seeds that are taking root to feed this energy of this card when it is upright. I can foster the fuel this card craves, and I can steady my hand in rehearsal for a controlled burn.
