All I want in life is to see Ocean at the End of The Lane adapted by Studio Ghibli to make my relationship with animation, art, and storytelling come full circle. Obviously unlikely but it honestly surprises me that Mr. Gaiman's work hasn't hit anime yet? I'm not a style mimicker but I wanted to try my hand at more digital background painting as well as creature design and this was really fun. I've wanted to see manta-wolves for ages and while I know I went at it very literally, I hope it still fits. This book means so much to me. I hope I did it some small justice.

More Senpai! This one’s a redraw of his first dialogue portrait, I plan on drawing the second one soon
I’m gonna call him Sempai like the original image’s file name to distinguish him from the original Senpai

Miyamoto Musashi (宮本 武蔵, c. 1584 – 13 June 1645), also known as Shinmen Takezō, Miyamoto Bennosuke or, by his Buddhist name, Niten Dōraku, was a Japanese swordsman, philosopher, strategist, writer and rōnin, who became renowned through stories of his unique double-bladed swordsmanship and undefeated record in his 61 duels. Musashi, as he was often simply known, is considered a Kensei, a sword-saint of Japan. He was the founder of the Niten Ichi-ryū, or Nito Ichi-ryū, style of swordsmanship, and in his final years authored The Book of Five Rings (五輪の書, Go Rin No Sho) and Dokkōdō (獨行道, The Path of Aloneness).
Musashi said “Do nothing which is of no use!” This simple but powerful statement plays an important part of my everyday life!

MINI UPDATE + SKETCHES
Before anything let me just say how thankful i am of the response to the first part! everyone has been super supportive and is equally excited for the future of this project like I am!
The support really helps me stay motivated drawing, animating, and editing everything for y’all so from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!!!!
onto the update now:
with part 1 released i’m gonna be starting work on part 2 very soon! as i’ve (probably) mentioned before the turnaround on that should be MUCH quicker than the first part because this doesn’t have nearly as much animation as this first vid! the goal of pt. 2 is to focus more on characters and their responses to Raku now being alive- with some twist and turns in it ^^ Progress shots will be shared as work is being done but not nearly as much as before sadly lol
With all that said, i leave you with some silly lil sketches- hope you enjoy and stay tuned for more ^^
