Open Letter to Sen. John Kennedy
Open letter to Senator John Kennedy, from Louisiana. Dear Senator John Kennedy,                 I am writing to you in response to your questions in front of the April 26th Senate Hearings on Abortion. You asked the doctors, professors and other experts present whether they would support a bill that called for unfettered access to abortion up until birth. I noticed that you had difficulty with…

These clowns are insane.
In case you forgot, the former Democrat turned Republican was one of the assholes fist-bumping Rafael Cruz after they blocked healthcare for veterans with cancer from toxic burn pits.

🗣️AMERICA HAS A SERIOUS GUN PROBLEM
Tumblr media
Robert Card, an Army reservist with a history of mental health issues, is suspected of killing at least 18 people at multiple locations in Maine on Wednesday.
Hours before the rampage, the Senate voted 53-45 to adopt an amendment making it easier for veterans with mental disabilities to get guns. The Department of Veteran Affairs is currently required to send the names of veterans who need assistance managing their benefits to the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System.
The amendment adopted on Wednesday, introduced by Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), overturns this requirement. “My amendment would prevent government workers from unduly stripping veterans of their right to bear arms,” Kennedy said. “Every veteran who bravely serves our country has earned VA benefits, and it's wrong for the government to punish veterans who get a helping hand to manage those resources.”
Five senators who caucus with Democrats - three Democrats and two Independents, all up for reelection in 2024 - voted with Republicans to adopt the amendment.

Sen. John F. Kennedy wrote the Pulitzer Prize-winning book “Profiles in Courage” in 1956, focusing on eight U.S. senators Kennedy felt were courageous under intense pressure from the public and their own party. If you were to write a book about Republican House and Senate members in the three years since the Jan. 6 insurrection, you’d have to title it “Profiles in Cowardice.” Just weeks before the Iowa caucuses, all the members of the GOP House leadership have endorsed former President Donald Trump. That’s the same Trump who sicced a mob on the Capitol, urging his supporters to “fight like hell.” Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a presidential candidate, was asked Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” why Republican politicians remain loyal to Trump. He replied that it’s “a combination of two emotions: fear and ambition.”

A Senate panel Thursday advanced a bill that would require the Supreme Court to adopt a code of ethics after a fiery partisan debate over recent scandals involving justices that underscored the measure’s low chances of success.
The legislation, backed by Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee, is a response to revelations about justices − in particular, Justice Clarence Thomas − accepting free luxury travel. Polls suggest public approval of the Supreme Court has reached historic lows, and even Chief Justice John Roberts has described the ethics issues swirling around the nation's highest court as an "issue of concern."
Citing a “steady stream of reports of justices’ ethical failures,” Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, described the legislation as “a crucial first step in restoring confidence in the court.”
But Republicans on the committee − who voted in unison against the bill − framed the legislation as a “very partisan” effort to “bully” a Supreme Court, where conservatives have a 6-3 majority. Republicans offered a series of amendments, including one that would make it easier for federal judges to carry weapons and another that would bar journalists from publishing stories about draft opinions without approval from the court itself.
Republican senators called the legislation “dangerous” and “unserious.” Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., described the proposal as "dead as fried chicken on the Senate floor.”
“This bill is going nowhere,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. “What you're trying to do is not improve the court. You're trying to destroy it as it exists.”

MYTH BUSTING
On July 24, 1964, President Lyndon Johnson announced the existence of the USAF Lockheed SR-71.
~This was six months before the first test flight on Dec. 22, 1964.
~He read his script correctly. It said SR 71.
~The Press’s copy of what the President said RS -71, the rumor started that Johnson made a mistake and it had to be renamed. This is not true.
During the 1964 Presidential campaign, the Republican nominee, SEN Barry Goldwater (AZ), repeatedly criticized President Johnson and his administration for falling behind the communist Soviet Union in the Arm’s race.
Vice Pres. Johnson “inherited” the Presidency when John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963. He automatically became President. He was reelected in 1964. In 1968, when he was running yet again for President for the second time, John F. Kennedy’s brother Robert decided to run against him. Johnson dropped out of the race; by then, the public was fed up with Johnson and his views on the Vietnam War. Bobby Kennedy was assassinated like his older brother was.
This is when Lyndon was brief about the fastest airplane in the world. He kept that information as a weapon to win the war of politics against Goldwater.
USAF Chief of Staff, GEN Curtis LeMay, preferred the SR (Strategic Reconnaissance) designation and wanted the RS-71 to be named SR-71.
Before the President’s speech, LeMay successfully lobbied to change the designation to SR-71. The transcript given to the press ahead of time still had the earlier RS-71 designation in place, creating a MYTH that the President had misread the aircraft's designation. Now, you know the real story.

Conspiracy theorist and anti-vaxxing nutcase RFK Jr. has been trying to use his family name to help his marginal presidential campaign.
He's been getting a lot of pushback from other family members. The latest to criticize him is Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of John F. Kennedy and son of Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg.
Jack Schlossberg excoriated his mom's cousin and has fully endorsed President Joe Biden for re-election.
To paraphrase the late Sen. Lloyd Bentsen: RFK Jr. is no Jack Kennedy.

John Neely Kennedy (R-LA) United States Senator
I did not know I wanted to hear the conservative 71-year-old senator from Louisiana reading aloud what sure sounded like it could be the beginning of a porn scene.
On A Side Note: Can I get Sen. Tester to read those lines too?
