hi i’m gonna show my incredible bias for nightcord by sharing all my thoughts on their new designs

- excluding miku, they all have flowers on their outfits now, meaning their outfits themselves are not “empty” anymore. they have each found reasons to live and don’t want to disappear anymore. there is life within all of them now, and i wouldn’t be surprised if somewhere down the line, actual plants start growing in the sekai itself (or really i just think that it would be really cool and beautiful if that happened)

- miku has gears on her dress instead of flowers. i’m thinking that could be a nod to how she is artificial in the sense that she’s a virtual singer, and technically doesn’t grow in the same way that her human counterparts do, but it could be something bigger

- miku also isn’t in a disheveled outfit anymore (she found her other sock! hooray!!). it’s far more put together, and it’s still mostly white, which still contrasts with everyone else’s dark gray. i think that that’s really good when it comes to mafuyu’s hope, because that is essentially what miku represents in this sekai. so it’s really good to see that miku looks better, because it means mafuyu’s hope is (hopefully) stronger

- the core four have one of their hands near their faces (in a covering way? maybe, maybe not), with kanade and ena’s hands near their mouths, and mafuyu and mizuki’s being near their eyes. i’m not exactly sure what to interpret that as, but it’s a detail i think warrants an acknowledgement, because they didn’t do that for their old designs

- kanade is standing, and miku is sitting instead. again, i’m not certain what that could mean right now, but it could be that kanade is more focused and determined than before, so she doesn’t want to sit down. or she just gave her chair to miku because miku wanted to sit or smth. idk

- mafuyu has a plain layer underneath the outside part of the dress that’s been cut out. i think that’s most definitely an indication for him showing his truer self. also, ena now has her paint brush, and mizuki has a different lollipop, which i think is just neat.
