Only now does it strike me that a lot of egg joke discourse is people having two entirely separate conversations, completely talking past each other.
On the one hand, we have people saying it's fine to make "have you considered you might not be cis" comments...about friends. Because sometimes someone is giving egg vibes, consciously or subconsciously, as a means of looking for support, looking for the people they know and trust to still be cool with it or tell them what they're thinking is a valid option, and it's good to turn toward those bids and offer support.
On the other hand, we have people saying not to make those kinds of comments or jokes....about strangers. Because you don't know them, they might be trans in a totally different direction than you think, and second-guessing someone you don't know about their own gender - often in a way that treats nonbinary identities as a fake thing, a phase, just a step in a pipeline for people with only one foot out of the closet - is not the compassionate trans-positive action that a small but frustrating number of people think it is.
And the thing is, both of these things are true. You can't treat strangers the way you treat your bestie! You will do more harm than good if you try!
I just wonder how many internet slapfights would not happen if people could recognize that these ideas don't contradict each other; they're different advice for different situations.

I’m sorry but guys. Come on. Death threats?? Really?? Neither on both sides deserve this treatment over a disagreement. Come on we’re all adults.
We should be civil to one another instead of trying to make this community not safe for anyone!
Being racist, transphobic, ableist, and sending death threats is not an answer nor should be taken lightly. Remember that there are REAL PEOPLE behind the screens.
I repeat. Sending death threats over a disagreement is not OKAY.

(Ama) who's gay? Please before the blizzard ninjas get you
Hold on just a moment, let me consult my trusty diversity and inclusion chart!
Tumblr media
According to the latest data on the chart, 🌈 Overwatch has taken great strides in representing diverse identities. As you can see from this chart Zarya is Russian and has zero sexual orientation, Torbejorne is the seasoned veteran, who is proudly represented as an older character 👴 and half body type and lots of ability but zero culture, and Lucio is BR, a DJ, and has ethnicity!

Since apparently, I somehow haven't already made a post saying this despite the fandoms I'm in; it's super triggering for me to see maps/"no"maps and people who make pedophilic "ship" content interacting with my blog. Please DNI

What's smarter
Telling my parents I had a fight with one of my only friends
Or
Not saying anything and drowning out my sorrows with fh fics
okay this is a ten thousand percent serious, 'as an adult' answer.
If you feel safe talking to your parents about things, do it.
There are a lot of things that suck in life and relationships and especially when you're in school still, when you are still having your first few big fights and heartbreaks and tragedies. I am lucky and privileged to have a good relationship with my parents. I know that. And I know that some of my biggest regrets about middle and high school is not telling them more.
I fought a lot, physically, in school. I was the person who got called at two in the morning because a friend was drunk in the woods. I was learning how to handle my queerness while navigating a super conservative town and a church that hid its brainwashing of the kids from the adults. And really, I didn't talk to my parents about any of it until I moved out.
I should have.
Every time I've had those conversations since, my parents have had some degree of reaction that's "we knew something was going on but didn't want to be in your business. We thought you would tell us if it was that bad." And I wish I had. Sure, I managed. But I could have had my mom tagging along on those 2am searches for an idiot in the woods. I could have had my dad explaining that depression runs in the family, and getting me started with treatment stuff that had helped him. I managed, but I could have had help.
If you and your parents have a decent relationship, talking with them about things in your life is how you make that relationship better. If you can trust them, and they know you'll come to them with problems, you'll stay closer as you grow up. After you move out, you;ll remember those moments, and you'll remember every time you got support, every time they had advice or even just had your back and let you vent.
Talk to them. And if it really doesn't help, you can always read fic after.

You ever think about how anime being good next year is the only reason to live till then?
I genuinely don’t think that’s true. I think life is inherently worth living, and that there doesn’t truly need to be any specific reason to live. Ultimately life is something that to me has no inherent reason and that’s part of what makes it so beautiful, we can all make our own reasons without being bound to some greater goal.
If you like anime and life is currently so difficult that you have an external reason to continue, that’s alright! But I wouldn’t say that’s the only reason that a person should live. There’s a lot of possible complications that could happen, and ultimately attaching your life to something outside your control may not be the best idea. Ultimately, I think you should try to live for yourself, not just for something or someone else in your life. I’m also not a professional in this subject, these are all my personal feelings so take them with a grain of salt.

hello!
i am in the middle of recording a podfic for The Oracle, and i would like to make some things clear before it goes live.
i am transmasculine and use he/they pronouns, please respect that despite how i may sound. i have tried to publish my voice before under these circumstances and it has not gone well, i have been a target for transphobia and hate speech because of how i present myself and the pitch of my voice.
this is not a post to call anyone out, or to shame anyone, it is merely a request that you respect my boundaries and refer to me as i ask. thank you all for the boundless support!

I've been thinking about this for at least a week. It's a heavy topic, and I don't want to fuck up the details. I mostly just needed time to process this news, hence why I didn't post this right away.
Heads up, I'm talking about American politics here. Mostly in regards to abortion and reproductive rights. As you can tell, I'm extremely pissed about this, so of course there will be colorful language (swearing). I will also put warnings in the tags below.
I won't speak in my normal jovial tone (that I use for my artwork and fandom posts), because I know that this is a serious issue. It also feels wrong making light of this, but that's besides the point.
Feel free to point out any mistakes that I've made writing this, and I'll try correct it as soon as I can. I'm not perfect, as I'm human. But I want this to be as accurate as possible.
SCOTUS is overturning Roe at the moment, according to a leaked draft opinion. This is absolutely fucking infuriating, in every way possible known to man. I’m a woman, and the thought of my bodily autonomy being taken away terrifies me to my very core. I know that this won’t just affect me, but plenty of afab peeps across the country. The fact that reproductive rights are being targeted by people who really fucking shouldn’t make that decision makes me completely livid.
I know that this decision will leave the abortion discussion to individual states, and that means that it will be banned in about half of them. Usually I wouldn’t bring that part up, as Roe overturned those bullshit laws. However, those laws are going to take effect in a few months time. So I need to bring this up. This is extremely important.
So what can we do about it? I don’t know. I genuinely don’t fucking know. But I’m not giving up hope. I’ll stay determined for a brighter future, and I’ll fight for that future. We all have to fight for it, even if we don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Apologies again for having to type this up. Normally I would keep my political opinions to myself. As I’m not actually qualified to talk about it. Art and fandom stuff is more of my forte. But this will actually affect about half of the country, not just myself. But I also needed to vent this out, because this is something that terrifies and infuriates me.

It's me, the anon who wants to eat the rich, I've been considering what Izo said about attacking their profits and while burning down a factory may be possible for me its a bit too extreme for me to pull off easily, so can everyone put their brain cells together (including Maxwell) and help me come up with some plausible easily implementable ways?
Molotov into a factory is going to get me arrested and it means I can only do it maybe two or three times before I am forced to end my buffoonery.
...All hypothetical, of course, Mister NSA agent. It's all parody. :)

I don't quite think this is a question we can answer with any specifics in any kind of serious matter, but regardless of your scope of activity (even if it's strictly legal), this should be a good enough framework for you to start with to do your own homework. It's a bit more with the mundane in mind, but societal upheavals come with a lot of mundane problems to solve.
To elaborate on each point in a bit more detail though:
Reading: I'm not saying you need to study tons of literature and hard theory to figure out the perfect flawless system to put into place, but doing some more serious reading will help tremendously with envisioning what kind of system you actually want to replace the current one with, and in doing so, find more specific ways to enact the kind of change you want to see.
There are flashier ways to force change, like for example the joke about molotov'ing a factory, and it's still very important to note that yes the rich are motivated by profits and thus respond more to serious threats on their profits than their lives, but it's not just the surface-level quantities of cash that keep them in power, but the whole structure itself. Even if it doesn't feel like it, anything that moves reliance away from the authoritative/economic power imbalances that be and instead towards mutual community-sustained support networks to take care of everyone's needs, those are each a number of tiny pegs you're knocking down each time. A slow and perhaps mundane method, but a methodical death to the rich by removing their fuel, if you will.
Preparation: This applies to many things, from knowing the ins and outs of any subject matter you're tackling, but also having backup plans and supplies for any number of emergencies or crises. Particularly important here though I'd say, is making sure you have the kind of equipment you'd want ahead of time if things get rough, and I mean real rough. We can all hope for the best, but the fact of the matter is things might get really, really messy, and you don't want to be shopping online for gas masks and other protective gear only to find everything's sold out or indefinitely delayed. I'd recommend looking at protests in other countries for that (past or present) and see what you can learn from them, too. The Hong Kong protests in particular come to mind, but whatever works.
Networks: Fairly straightforward, but incredibly important. Not only can you not make a community effort without a community, but also, the more people you can get involved, the easier it'll be to pull things off. It all comes down to what specifically you're tackling of course, but not only can buddies help lend a hand or cover for you, but being in touch with people involved with whatever your target is can help too in planning whatever you're doing.
Subversion: Basically, creating the society you're looking for by subverting existing structures and replacing them with better, community-led structures instead. Whatever your ideal world looks like, it's not going to just poof into existence, not now, and not even if you pushed a button to magically kill all the 1% instantly. You don't need to wait for the signal to do your part of a revolution, just assume it's already started and get working.
-
Note: I may have my own thoughts on the matter, but if you're actually serious about any of this, I unfortunately can't help too much there as I don't exactly got the most experience or knowledge in this regard yet (and also it's stupid as hell to talk specifics of what you're doing online, anyway). But, I personally find An Anarchist FAQ to be a really good highly extensive resource for any number of questions you might have, especially as it helps answer a lot of vague doubts and gives a really good framework for developing your own ideas of what change might look like. Definitely just a book to skim the table of contents for what grabs your interest though, as it is quite hefty and even I've only barely scratched the surface of it. The rest of the site it's hosted on is pretty solid, too. Definitely give the place a look-over when you can.

ngl I'm not a fan of how the very necessary discussion of how autistic girls (and many poc for that matter, not that we usually remember this) often end up masking hard due to the pressure to "be ladylike" or "not be too angry" and therefore end up being seen as "very polite" and "mature for your age" and so on and so forth is morphing into being less about how social pressures may impact how autism presents and more about saying "so there's Girl Autism and there's Boy Autism and Girl Autism makes you nice and polite and pleasant but Boy Autism makes you gross and annoying and rude and offputting and no it's not ableist at all to say that being overly excitable or trying to get a turn to talk when you don't know when your turn is or struggling with arbitrary rules is rude and annoying because Girl Autism exists uwu"

(AMA) do you think soldier will ever come out of his rigid machoness and become a fuller character outside of that (1) short story and comic or are they gonna have him sloppily make out with reaper. like canonically
While unconventional pairings can add an enthralling layer of complexity to a storyline, the canonical foundation of Overwatch has not yet hinted at such a passionate 💄 rendezvous between characters of the same gender, except if it's in comics and other media that can be easily blocked in the China region. 🧧🔥 Rest assured, Overwatch's creative team remains committed to weaving compelling and diverse narratives, exploring the depths of all characters. Soldier: 76 will undergo a metamorphosis of self-discovery soon, unearthing hidden layers and unshackling himself from the confines of societal norms, by joining the cast of Rupaul's DragRace.💅💃 We hope the Overwatch community will be captivated by this upcoming update coming soon (June) as Charisma76 🌟 embraces her inner diva, strutting with confidence 💃, delivering impeccable one-liners 👑("Get off my lawn!" ➡️ "Get off my runway, hunty!💅"), and leaving a trail of glitter ✨ in her wake. This exciting transformation celebrates individuality and serves as a reminder for us all to embrace our authentic selves!🎉🔥
