If you thought Neopets NFTs were bad, check this out.

Since 2019, WildWorks (WW; they made Animal Jam) had been working on a fantasy MMO targeting older players called Fer.al (which I will refer to as just Feral for simplicity’s sake).

In 2020, Feral entered open beta (meaning it was made available as a playable demo) and was met with positivity for the most part, though gradually, development slowed as 2021 drew to a close, and players were getting ansty. The game is still in open beta right now in 2022, despite having monetization implemented.

In late November 2021, WildWorks announced Cinder, a “metaverse” where people could buy access through the sale of NFTs.

Understandably, the community of people raised on a game that told them to save the environment did not handle this well.

In an attempt to save some of their image, the CEO (Clark Stacey) hosted a Discord AMA during which he and an assistant assured that Cinder relied on Solana, allegedly less of a polluter than most other blockchain platforms. Allegedly.

They also argued that even if Solana was bad, you using Discord right now is just as bad (maybe even worse! you’re such hypocrites, kids). And even if it isn’t, well, you aren’t our target demographic anyway so just ignore it lol

What made it even worse was that all the content for Cinder was being recycled from Feral. Cinder’s procedurally-generated avatars are Fae, the newest avatar species to be added to Feral. In addition, the locations from Feral are the exact same ones as in Cinder. (CW: cartoon blood) A promo on Instagram shows off “Blood Tundra”, a location that exists in Feral.

(CW: cartoon blood again) However, you’ll notice that the actual post on Instagram has been edited ever since the Feral Discord (FD) pointed it out, though the image is very clearly still the same place.

Even though FD has been abandoned since the announcement of Cinder, there are several cases of things being changed/deleted on Cinder’s end as soon as they are mentioned and criticized on FD, implying that someone at WW is consistently lurking on FD and changing things to avoid criticism, but won’t actually address them in an announcement or something.

In fact, there have been no new announcements since December 2, 2021, not even when the game bugged out and automatically made available content some players paid for with IRL money before realizing it unplayable.

So FD is just festering with vengeful older teens spamming corn emojis, dissing on Cinder, and asking for other game recommendations. No action is being taken against these people.

The poor volunteer not-employed-by-WW mods are just as lost and confused as the users. They didn’t know this would happen and were left to fend for themselves with no guidance from the company they’d trusted, though all of them seem to be sympathetic with the Feral users overall. Some have resigned in protest of Cinder.

AMAs on the Cinder Discord (CD) were originally in text format, though they have since moved to audio livestreams. People using the Feral Discord assume this was done to make recording their answers and sharing them on FD/holding WW accountable more of a hassle.

A user named “CinderSpire” was presented as just some random WW employee on the Cinder Discord using an account separate from known admins like Stacey, but apparently after moving all their AMAs to livestreams, it became very apparent that CinderSpire has the exact same voice as Stacey. In fact, in a live AMA, he seemingly slips up and refers to himself as the CEO (“No, I’m-- Clark Stacey has been. . .”). (So this guy has a sockpuppet. There is no good reason to have a sockpuppet.)

Cinder has been spammed about on Reddit and its Twitter floats at about 5k followers, give or take, most of which appear to be bots (especially in the replies). As you can see, it isn’t getting much traction or engagement on any social media.

Those who join CD say engagement is low there, too, and the community is toxic/full of red flags (Pepe memes, jokes about people’s dead parents), and they refer to the teenagers playing Feral and getting mad as immature children, which doesn’t address their concerns. . . Anyone who brings up Feral or asks too many questions/criticizes the project is often banned. Mods are open in saying that all ban appeals are rejected.

WW apparently made an announcement on CD asking people to drop their wallet addresses for a giveaway, and people began posting exactly that out in the open until they set up a Google Form in a later post/edit. Which, in case you didn’t know, is extremely unsafe. Anyone can put anything they want in your wallet with or without your approval as long as they know your address, and this includes crypto with a smart contract (bit of code that can do things) that’s been written to run a malicious script if you interact with it, potentially stealing everything in your wallet.

Now is a good time to remember WW had a massive data breach a couple years back.

Someone sent Clark Stacey a picture of corn and got blocked, so now everyone sends him corn. Sending corn memes gets you banned from the Cinder Discord. 🌽

Today (2/16/22), the first NFTs are being minted. People who actually bought Fae are complaining that the graphics suck and there’s nothing to do, and are already demanding rarity charts/etc. so they can flip their tokens to an even bigger loser for more money. . . but they can’t just yet, because they haven’t sold out, which tells you a lot about the community and the way a project like this is run.

Instead of posting an update to the Feral Discord, or literally saying anything to address the existence of their community, the owners just bumped slow mode up from two minutes to ten, just before the mint, and now the server is a riot because clearly these idiots are lurking around and just really, really hope everyone playing Feral shuts up.

TL;DR: The guys who made Animal Jam tried to make an NFT game but they’re running it exactly like a scam.

i saw some pretty ghastly shit on my dash last night, and i have nothing better to do than to weigh in. but instead of naming names, i'm going to try to toe the line and redact some specifics & paraphrase while trying to represent this as fairly as possible. take my word for it when i say i got my hands dirty enough to get the full picture on this.

person a makes a post that says something to the effect of "it's wrong to e-stalk someone with the express purpose of sexually shaming them for a callout post. if someone is circulating a post that's saying 'this person is into omegaverse? it's that disgusting?', in my opinion, OP is significantly less safe to be around than the subject of the post. most of the time this happens, it's targeting a trans woman, and this is good enough reason to be more critical about this practice"

before i move on here, it's important to point out that this sort of thing happens so often online that it's impossible to look like a statement like that and definitively say it's referencing something specific. i think the most egregious example of this i can think of relating to a callout here is five years back where a nontrivial amount of the post was. like. screenshots of sexually explicit conversations between 14-15 year old users. and that's just tumblr. not even getting into the far slimier versions of this on kiwifarms, 4chan, or if you really want to turn back the clock, encyclopedia dramatica or something awful.

the post makes the rounds and is intercepted by person b, who does some mental calculus and deduces that it was made in reference to a large callout post that was going around. unfortunately i have not been able to dig the post up for the life of me because everyone who's been talking about this situation has been vague about this, but the gist is that it had several people on it an the broader theme was extreme sexual creepiness – race play, noncon, pedophilia, and bestiality included in the mix. person b expresses surprise that person a apparently sided with racists, and people who sexually assault children or animals, but concludes that person a is a cis white woman and "they're usually all three".

person a gets angry about this for reasons that i think don't need to be elaborated on. "this statement could be applied to this call out, therefore it definitely is, and person a is defending these people specifically and she's doing it because she's like them". both are doubling down. person b is also saying that person a was the mod on an anti social justice blog in '14. there is no evidence for this, other than the blog having a mod from the same country as her, with the same nickname, which is very, very flimsy grounds.

so, what exactly happened here? A doesn't mention any of that stuff in the post. omegaverse, maybe you could make some kind of case for if you're reading the post as "defending omegaverse" rather than "condemning sexual harassment". but i don't think racism and sexual abuse apologia is an entirely fair thing to extrapolate, even if omegaverse is the given example and it's a dubious trope. especially because the big call out wasn't about the omegaverse, right?

the short answer is i'm not sure what B was doing here, but i feel like her response being to try and dig up dirt on A's online past, and deferring to something speculative and unsubstantiated when she can't readily do that is a massive call for concern.

but all that out of the way, i want to talk a little bit about how situations like these are good examples of how frivolously extremely serious allegations can be thrown around.

for one, making a joke about "well most of the people in this demographic group fuck children and pets anyway" doesn't really seem like the kind of shit you say if you take abuse seriously by any real measure. but it gets worse.

do you guys want to know why conservatives are really fond of casting gay & trans people as pedophiles and child groomers? it's because it's very, very common for people to be okay with violence against people who sexually abuse children, and feel urgently enough about this that they're willing to turn a bit of a blind eye to forgoing due process in support of that, due to the weight of it. their goal is to tap into that same justified anger and visceral disgust and weaponize it against a group they dislike. so seeing B react to A's post highlighting that this sort of cyberstalking tends to hurt trans women the most with "well white women tend to be pedophiles, amongst other things" strikes me as very, very reckless advocacy. and that's me being a lot more generous than they deserve.

also:

you could apply this vague post to a callout –> she's probably a creep in the same way they are –> *additional accusation based on extremely circumstantial events*

you can follow how this has a way of calling into suspect the original allegations in the callout, right? if this vague statement about a common instance online can be used to suggest that someone is a pedophile, how exactly was that determined for the other people involved in this? did someone come forward and say "this older user put me in some very uncomfortable sexual situations" or was it a similar situation of "i read their post in the worst possible light"? we understand that it's extremely dangerous to create a boy who cried wolf situation with stuff like this, right?

there have been plenty of bunk callouts on here. some cases like the lesbian makeup application photo, which was just complete shit. or the mitski sex trafficking debacle, that was the unfortunate result of a user having a psychosis episode – even though they later told people over and over again that they had written it while hallucinating and it still kept circulating. surely we need to have some kind of vetting process? but many situations of abuse are not going to have a paper trail, which complicates things.

what to do, then? i guess something like this, it's worth your time to dive into posts that have more of a gossipy "they said a bad thing" tone and figure out why it something is being said/if it's a fair interpretation of events. as for things where this isn't an option, i truly don't have any ideas.

either way, the kind of internet conduct where you just assume the worst possible faith at all time isn't keeping anyone safer.

Some DA trivia and dev commentary from Twitter

There’s a lot of different tweets, so I’m just pasting and linking to the source rather than screencapping them all or making several different posts or something. Post under cut for length.

User: Was dragon age 2 your favourite in the franchise?

David Gaider: DA2 was the project where my writing team was firing on all cylinders, and they wrote like the wind- because they had to! Second draft? Pfft. Plot reviews? Pfft. I was so proud of what we all accomplished in such a brief time. I didn't think it was possible. [source] DA2 is, however, also where the goal posts kept moving. Things kept getting cut, even while we worked. I had to write that dialogue where Orsino turned even if you sided with him, because his boss battle had been cut and there was no time to fix the plot. A real WTF moment. >:( [source]

Mike Rousseau: I remember bugging that! And then being told it wasn't a bug, and being so confused. Doing QA for DA2 was an experience. Trial by fire. [source]

DG: So I think it's safe to say DA2 is my favorite entry in the DA franchise and also the sort of thing I never want to live through ever again. Mixed feelings galore. [source]

DG: I wrote Fenris, so uh - me, I guess? Or maybe his cinematic designer, who put in the puppy dog eyes. [source]

User: If DA2 had just been an expansion, do you think it would have been better received? There was a lot of great stuff in there, and I think my initial dislike of it was because of the zone reuse. If it hadn't needed to be a full game, would that issue not have arisen?

DG: Hard to say. It was either going to be an over-scoped expansion or an under-scoped sequel. If it had stayed an expansion, it might never have received the resources/push it DID get. [source]

User: I'd love to visit the universe where you had an extra year or so to work on it. You did a very good job as it stands, but it definitely had rough edges. Not just the writing team either. The whole game had hit and miss moments, that just a little more dev time could have fixed.

DG: On one hand, DA2 existed to fill a hole in the release schedule. More time was never in the cards. DA2 was originally planned as an expansion! On the other, if we had more time, would we have started doing that thing where we second guess/iterate ourselves into mediocrity? [shrug emoji] [source]

Jennifer Hepler: This is what I love about DA2. Personally, I greatly prefer something that's rough and raw and sincere to something that's had all the soul polished out of it. Extra time would have helped for art and levels, but it would have lost something too. [source]

DG: Right? I think we could have used some time for peer reviews (and fewer cuts), but I think the rawness of the writing lent a certain spark that we usually polished out. [source]

JH: Definitely. I think the structure (more character-driven) and the tightness of the timeframe let each individual writer's voice really come through. Polish can be very homogenizing. [source]

DG: I should add I'm not, by any means, against iteration. Some iteration is good and necessary. The problem that BioWare often had is that we never knew when to stop. Like a goldfish, we would fill the space given to us by constantly re-iterating on things that were "good enough". [source]

User: DA2 was my gateway into the series and I’m so happy it is. I love the game the way that it is. It’s one of my favorites of all time. But I am also aware of everything that was said here. If it were remastered, do you think it would change?

DG: I'd be surprised if it was ever remastered. If it was, do you really think they'd change things? Do remasters do that? No idea. [source]

User: Both sides got undercut as I recall. Didn't that whole sequence also end with the mage leader embracing blood magic? It was very much "a plague on both your houses" moment, at least for me.

DG: Yep. Orsino was supposed to have his own version of Meredith's end battle, which only happened if you sided with the templars. That got cut, but the team still wanted to use the model we'd made for him. So... that happened. [source]

DG: I would personally say that DA2 is a fantastic game hidden under a mountain of compromises, cut corners, and tight deadlines. If you can see past all that, you'll see a fantastic game. I don't doubt, however, that it's very difficult for most to do that. [source]

PW: I love DAI with all my selfish "I worked on this" heart, but DA2's follower arcs and relationships are probably my favorite in the series. [source]

User: As I've expressed many times, I love the game, especially it's writing and characters but, for me, the most impressive aspect of it, in consideration of it's lack of time for drafts and revisions, is the 2nd act with Arishok. What amazingly complex character and fantastic duel

User: Just played it again and I have to agree. Though he is bound by the harsher tenants of the Qun, he makes valid points about free marcher society. Though it is obvious that he and Hawke will come to blows eventually, the tension builds gradually and understandably

DG: Luke did such a fantastic job with the Arishok I found myself sometimes wishing the Qunari plot had just been THE plot. [source]

User: What do you think would have changed, story wise, if you had more time for DA2?

DG: I would have taken out that thing where Meredith gets the idol. It was forced on me because she needed to be "super-powered" with red lyrium for her final battle. Being "crazy", however, robbed her side of the mage/templar argument of any legitimacy. I hated hated hated that. [source]

User: I deeply lament that there wasn't/couldn't be some sort of DA2 equivalent of Throne of Bhaal's Ascension mod.

DG: I'd have done it, if DA2 had allowed for anything but the most rudimentary of modding. ;) [source]

User: I mean, and I think I understand where you were trying, but how much legitimacy did the Templars and her as top Templar have after they're keeping the mages locked up against their will in the old slave quarters? Feel free to not reply.

DG: I think it's the kind of discussion which requires nuance, and which discussions on the Internet are not prone to. [source]

User: Was a compromise that the quest lines don’t branch? It felt like it was supposed to be that way but then you end up in the same place later regardless of what you pick. Like I hoodwinked the templars so good to help the apostates escape but in Act II they were caught anyway.

DG: I remember us having a lot more branching in the initial planning yes. Most of this got trimmed out in the first or second wave of cuts, in an effort to not cut the plots altogether. [source]

DG: "If you could Zack Snyder DA2, what would you change?" Wow. I'm willing to bet Mark or Mike (or anyone else on the team) would give very different answers than me, but it's enough to give a sober man pause, because that was THE Project of Multiple Regrets. [source] I mean, it's the most hypothetical of hypotheticals. It's never gonna happen. I wouldn't be surprised if EA considered DA2 its embarrassing red-headed stepchild. We'd also need to ignore that in many ways DA2 was as good as it was bad BECAUSE of how it was made. But that aside? [source] First, either restore the progressive changes to Kirkwall we'd planned over the passing of in-game years or reduce the time between acts to months instead of years... which, in hindsight, probably should have been done as soon as the progressive stuff was cut. [source] I'm sure you're like "get rid of repeated levels!" ...but I don't care about that. All I wanted was for Kirkwall to feel like a bigger city. Way more crowded. More alive! Fewer blood mages. [source] I'd want to restore the plot where a mage Hawke came THIS close to becoming an abomination. An entire story spent trapped in one's own head while trapped on the edge of possession. Why? Because Hawke is the only mage who apparently never struggles with this. It was a hard cut. [source]

User: I would LOVE to hear more details about this! I don’t suppose there’s any chance of a short story?

DG: I don't even remember the details of the story, sorry. There was a fight, and you caught the bad guy and then realized none of it was real and woke up idk [source]

DG: I'd want to restore all those alternate lines we cut, meaning people forget they'd met you. Or that they knew you were a mage. Or, oh god, that maybe they'd romanced you in DAO. So much carnage. [source] I'd want to restore the Act 3 plots we cut only because they were worked on too late, but which would have made the buildup to the mage/templar clash less sudden. Though I don't remember what they were, now. Some never got beyond being index cards posted on the wall. [grimace emoji] [source] As I mentioned elsewhere, I'd want to restore Orsino's end battle so he wouldn't need to turn on you even if you sided with him. And I'd want an end fight with the templars that didn't require Meredith to have red lyrium and go full Tetsuo. [source] Heck, maybe an end decision where you sided with neither the mages nor the templars. Because it certainly ended up feeling like you could brand both sides as batshit pretty legitimately, no? That was never planned, tho. No idea how to make that feel like an actual path atm. [source] Maybe an option to go "umm, Anders... what are you DOING?" 👀 [source] And, of course, a Varric romance, because Mary took that "slimy car salesman" character we'd planned and did the impossible with him. I can feel Mary glaring at me for even suggesting this, tho. [source] Lastly, the original expanded opening to the game which allowed you to spend time with Bethany and Carver BEFORE the darkspawn attacked. And, um, that's about it off the top of my head. Zack Snyder, WHAT PANDORA'S BOX HAVE YOU OPENED. [source] Shit, I remembered two more things: 1) Restore the "Varric exaggerates the heck out of the story" at the beginning of every Act, until Cassandra calls him on it. Yes, that was a thing. 2) Make DA: Exodus. Yes, I am still bitter. [source] God damn it, I meant "Make DA: Exalted March". The DA2 expansion, NOT Exodus since that was DA2's original name and makes no sense. Because the expansion ended with Varric dying, and that will always be on my "things left undone" list. [source]

DG: Well, you know that scene in Wrath of Khan where Spock goes into the dilithium chamber because he's a Vulcan? Well, imagine that but with Varric and red lyrium and because he's a dwarf. ;) [source]

John Epler: I distinctly remember referencing the bit from MGS4 where you crawl through the microwave corridor in the split screen, while cinematic battle rages on the other half. [source]

DG: It would have been glorious, John. Glorious. [source]

JE: I don't think I've ever been so certain what a shot should look like as I did Hawke coming in and finding Varric in the broken throne, just like when he was telling Cassandra his story. [source]

DG: It would have come full circle! Auggghh, it still kills me. [source]

JE: The true secret behind videogame narrative is knowing how to make yourself seem a lot more clever than you actually are. [source] 'Oh, we TOTALLY planned that.' [source]

User: Ok, this thread [the DA2 regrets thread, which is the big chunks above] but Inquisition.

DG: My regrets about Inquisition are, more or less, the normal kind. Nothing so dramatic, I'm afraid. [source]

User: You can keep your Varric romance, I want a Flemeth romance goddamnit!

DG: I would allow for one flirt option, and then a recording of Kate Mulgrew laughing for three minutes straight. [source]

User: I had a hypothesis about the repetitive caves in DA2. They're repetitive because it's Varric telling the story and he didn't consider them important. They're like sets in a play. (Okay, I really suspect it was a time/money/resources thing but I like my fake explanation better.)

DG: Hang a lampshade on it, maybe? Cassandra: "But that's the exact cave you were in last time?" Varric: "Whatever. They all look the same, I'm not THAT kind of dwarf. Can we move on?" [source]

User: that makes sense, hypothetically to make Varric romanceable and keep his arc—that had to happen for the main plot—I imagine you would have to make double the content (or more)? which would've been a tall order given the time/budget constraints the game was under

DG: Right. When it comes to "romance arc" vs. "follower story arc", we generally only had time to do one or the other. Never both. Romancing Varric would have meant not getting the story of his that you did. [source]

Mary Kirby: The one exaggeration I really, REALLY wanted, that we never got to do was Varric narrating his own death scene with Hawke weeping over him, then cutting to Cassandra's pissed off glaring at him. [source]

DG: Haha! The one I wanted was Varric's plot where he takes on the baddies single-handedly, sliding across the floor like Jet Lee, action movie-style, until finally Cassandra gets irritated and he has to admit Hawke & the rest of the party showed up to help. [source]

MK: We did that one! (He didn't do any Jet Lee moves, though.) Jepler gave him letterboxing to get The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly showdown vibes while he shot a ton of mooks single-handed. [source]

DG: Wow. Shows how much I remember. [source]

JE: I found it! I remember seeing this sequence as my treat for doing a bunch of much more challenging work. It was fun to see how far I could push our limited library of animations. [link] [source]

User: no disrespect but that’s surprising and rich of Mary “Hard in Hightown” Kirby to think DA2 shouldn’t have had a Varric romance when she wrote an entire book of Varric’s self-insert character pining over his Hawke insert character… HIH is the reason we had VHawke Summer 2018

DG: I can't *really* speak for Mary, or how she feels about it now compared to back then. I only know how she felt about it back then, and I'm not sure it was as much the concept of the romance but that Varric's entire story would be bent to "romance arc" ...a very different thing. [source]

JH: I remember pushing to have the first DLC start with Hawke having an option to ask Varric, "Did you tell Cassandra about us?" and if you picked it, Varric would answer, "Of course not, baby. I told her you were sleeping with X..." and then proceed as if you had had a full romance. [source]

DG: I still wonder how that would have gone over. x) [source]

JE: Okay, one more DA2 thing. Putting together the cinematics for this scene was a blast. [link] [source]

MK: These lines are my greatest legacy. I want "Make sure the world knows I died... at Chateau Haine!" inscribed on my tombstone. [source]

JE: I was so glad no one said 'no' to the crane shot. [source]

MK: It needs that crane shot. It's the perfect icing on that cake made from solid cheese. [source]

DG: The designers were all "we need more combat" and I think we were all "I think you underestimate just HOW interesting we can make this dinner party". [source]

JE: And finally. I think @SherylChee wrote the one-liner. I think we had a collection of like, 20. [link] [source]

Sheryl Chee: Yeah! Something like that! I remember submitted a whole bunch and Frank said you only needed one. Wish I'd kept the other fifteen. [source]

JE: A random chooser where, each time through the scene, you get a different one-liner. [source]

JE: DA2 is the project I'm the proudest of. I also absolutely get that it didn't land for a lot of people. But I don't think it's inaccurate to say that, in a lot of ways, DA2 defined my career. [source] Everyone spent a year working at their maximum ability. I was a fresh cinematic designer and was given all of Varric's content, as well as the Act 1 Finale mission. It was a lot for someone who had been doing the Cinematics thing for literally 6 months. [source] There's some stuff in there I can't look at without wincing. And there's some stuff I'm genuinely proud of. Not to mention, it was my introduction to most of the writing team. Several of whom I'm still working with today! Albeit in a different capacity [source] Also, weirdly, one of my most enduring memories of Dragon Age 2 is how much Bad Company 2 we'd play at lunch. It was a LOT. [source] Every game I've worked on has a game I played attached to it. ME2 is Borderlands. DA2 is Bad Company 2. DAI is DayZ. I, hmm. There's a progression there. I don't know how I feel about it. User: Is DA4 going to be tarkov then?

JE: I've kind of churned out of Tarkov for now. Probably Hunt Showdown, at least right now. [source]

User: I think people also don't take nuance into consideration -- like I FULLY acknowledge the flaws in my favorite games and will openly criticize them, but that doesn't mean they're not my favorite games anymore??? You can like and thing and still be critical of it.

JE: A lot of my favourite shit is deeply flawed! I acknowledge it and I think it's interesting to dissect the flaws. [source]

User: I still wish Justice was an actual character in DA2 rather than a plot point.

DG: There was a moment during DAI where we *almost* put in you running into Justice with the Grey Wardens, and he's all "Kirkwall? I never went to Kirkwall" [source]

User: Does that imply that Justice was shoehorned in to DA2?

DG: Nah, it was an in-joke where we thought it'd be fun to suggest that "Justice" was simply some demon that tricked Anders in DA2. Wooo those tricky demons! We didn't do it, though. [source]

User: [about templars] except, I don't think it had very much legitimacy to begin with. keep in mind, we interact with other characters with the same argument. The one that comes to mind is Cullen, a sane templar in power. The templar's side of the argument is inherently flawed.

July Colorful Column: Remus is a Crip, and We Can Write Him Better.

There is one thing that can get me to close a fic so voraciously I don’t even make sure I’m not closing other essential tabs in the process. It doesn’t matter how much I’m loving the fic, how well written I think it is, or how desperately I want to know how it ends. Once I read this sentence, I am done.

It’s written in a variety of different ways, but it always goes something like this: “You don’t want me,” Remus said, “I am too sick/broken/poor/old/[insert chosen self-demeaning adjective here].”

You’re familiar with the trope. The trope is canonical. And if you’ve been around the wolfstar fandom for longer than a few minutes, you’ve read the trope. Maybe you love the trope! Maybe you’ve written the trope! Maybe you’re about to stop reading this column, because the trope rings true to you and you feel a little attacked!

Now, let’s get one thing out of the way right now: I am not saying the trope is wrong. I am not saying it’s bad. I am not saying we should stop writing it. We all have things we don’t like to see in our chosen fics. Maybe you can’t stand Leather Jacket Motorbike Sirius? Maybe you think Elbow Patch Remus is overdone? Or maybe your pet peeves are based in something a little deeper - maybe you think Poor Latino Remus is an irresponsible depiction, or that PWPs are too reductive? Whatever it is, we all have our things.

Let me tell you about my thing. When I first became very ill several years ago, there were various low points in which I felt I had become inherently unlovable. This is, more or less, a normal reaction. When your body stops doing things it used to be able to do - or starts doing things you were quite alright without, thank you very much - it changes the way you relate to your body. You don’t want to hear my whole disability history, so yada yada yada, most people eventually come to accept their limitations. It’s a very painful existence, one in which you constantly tell yourself your disability has transformed you into a burdensome, unworthy member of society, and if nothing else, it’s not terribly sustainable. Being disabled takes grit! It takes power! It takes a truly absurd amount of medical self-advocacy! Hating yourself? Thinking yourself unworthy of love? No one has time for that.

Of course, I’m being hyperbolic. Plenty of disabled people struggle with these feelings many years into their disabilities, and never really get over them. But here’s the thing. We experience those stories ALL THE TIME. Remember Rain Man? Or Million Dollar Baby? Or that one with the actress from Game of Thrones and that British actor who seemed like he was going to have a promising career but then didn't? Those are all stories about sad, bitter disabled people and their sad, bitter lives, two out of three of which end in the character completing suicide because they simply couldn’t imagine having to live as a disabled person. (I mean, come on media, I get that we're less likely to enjoy a leisurely Saturday hike, but our parking is SUBLIME.) When was the last time you engaged with media that depicted a happy disabled person? A complex disabled person? A disabled person who has sex? No really, these aren’t hypothetical questions, can you please drop a rec in the notes?? Because I am desperate.

There are lots of problems with this trope, and they’ve been discussed ad nauseam by people with PhDs. I’m not actually interested in talking about how this trope leads to a more prevalent societal idea that disabled people are unworthy of love, or contributes to the kind of political thought processes that keep disabled people purposefully disenfranchised. I’m just a bitch on Tumblr, and I have a bone to pick: the thing I really hate about the trope? It’s boring. I’m bored. You know how, like, halfway through Grey’s Anatomy you realized they were just recycling the same plot points over and over again and there was just no WAY anyone working at a hospital prone to THAT MANY disasters would stay on staff? It's like that. I love a recycled trope as much as the next person (There Was Only One Bed, anyone?). But I need. Something. Else.

Remus is disabled. BOLD claim. WILD speculation. Except, not really. You simply - no matter how you flip it, slice it, puree it, or deconstruct it - cannot tell me Remus Lupin is not disabled. Most of us, by this point, are probably familiar with the way that One Canonical Author intended One Dashing Werewolf to be “a metaphor for those illnesses that carry stigma, like HIV and AIDS” [I’m sorry to link you to an outside source quoting She Who Must Not Be Named, but we’re professionals here]. Which is... a thing. It’s been discussed. And, listen, there’s no denying that this parallel is a problematic interpretation of people who have HIV/AIDS and all such similar “those illnesses” (though I’ll admit that I, too, am perennially apt to turn into a raging beast liable to harm anything that crosses my path, but that’s more linked to the at-least-once-monthly recollection that One Day At A Time got cancelled). Critiques aside, Remus Lupin is a character who - due to a condition that affects him physically, mentally, emotionally, and intellectually - is repeatedly marginalized, oppressed, denied political and social power, and ostracized due to unfounded fear that he is infectious to others. Does that sound familiar?

We’re not going to argue about whether or not “Remus is canonically disabled as fuck” is a fair reading. And the reason we’re not going to argue about whether or not it’s a fair reading is because I haven’t read canon in 10-plus years and you will win the argument. Canon is only marginally relevant here. The icon of this blog is brown, curly haired Remus Lupin kissing his trans boyfriend, Sirius Black. We are obviously not too terribly invested in canon. The wolfstar fandom is now a community with over 25,000 AO3 fics, entire careers launched from drawing or writing or cosplaying this non-canonical pairing. We love to play around here with storylines and universes and races and genders and sexualities and all kinds of things, but most of the time? Remus is still disabled. He’s disabled as a werewolf in canon-compliant works, he’s disabled in the AUs where he was injured or abused or kidnapped or harmed as a child, he’s disabled in the stories that read him as chronically ill or bipolar or traumatized or blind or Deaf. I’d go so far as to say that he is one of very few characters in the Wide Wonderful World of media who is, in as close to his essence as one can be, always disabled. And that means? Don’t shoot the messenger... but we could stand to be a tiny bit more responsible with how we portray him.

Disabled people are complicated. As much as I’d like to pretend we are always level-headed, confident, and ready to assert our inherent worth, we are still just humans. We have bad days. We doubt our worth. We sometimes go out with guys who complain about our steroid-induced weight gain (it was a long time ago, Tumblr, okay??). But, we also have joy and fun and good days and sex and happiness and families and so many other things.

Remus is a disabled character, and as such, it’s only fair that he’d have those unworthy moments. But - I propose - Remus is also a crip. What is a crip? A crip - like a queer - is someone who eschews the limited boundaries placed on their bodies, who rejects a hierarchy of oppression in favor of an intersectional analysis of lived experience, who isn’t interested in being the tragic figure responsible for helping people with dominant identities realize how good they have it. Crips interpret their disabilities however they want, rethinking bodies and medicine and pleasure and pain and even time itself. Crips are political, community-minded, and in search of liberation.

Remus is a character who struggles with his disability, sure. But he’s also a character who leverages his physical condition to attempt to shift communities towards his political leanings, advocates for the rights of those who share his physical condition, and has super hot sex with his wrongfully convicted boyfriend ultimately goes on to build community and family. Having a condition that quite literally cripples you, over which you have no control, and through which you are often read as a social pariah? That’s disability. But using said condition as a means through which to build advocacy and community? Now that’s some crip shit.

Personally, I love disabled!Remus Lupin. But I love crip!Remus Lupin even more. I’d love to see more of a Remus who owns his disability, who covets what makes him unique, and who never ever again tells a potential romantic partner they are too good for him because of his disability. This trope - unlike There Was Only One Bed! - sometimes actually hurts to read. Where’s Remus who thinks a potential romantic partner isn’t good enough for him? Where’s Remus who insists his partners learn more about his condition in order to treat him properly? Where’s sexy wheelchair user Remus? Where’s Remus who uses his werewolf transformations as an excuse to travel the world? Where’s crip Remus??

We don’t have to put “you don’t want me” Remus entirely to bed. It is but one of many repeated tropes that are - in the words of The Hot Priest from Fleabag - morally a bit dubious. And let’s face it - we don’t always come to fandom for its moral superiority (as much as we sometimes like to think we do).

This is not a condemnation - it is an invitation. Able-bodied folks are all but an injury, illness, or couple decades away from being disabled. And when you get here, I sincerely hope you don’t waste your time on “you don’t want me”ing back and forth with the people you love. I’m inviting you to come to the crip side now. We have snacks, and without all the “you don’t want me” talk, we get to the juicy parts much faster.

I Love Stories

I'm not really sure where I'm going with this. But, maybe I just have to vent some frustration. I love stories. I love writing. I love world-building. I love looking for small things that are overlooked, or just not explained, and expanding on them. I love fandom. I like it when I can write content that other people enjoy. It gives me a sense of fulfillment that is hard to find. But, sometimes I can't. I do my best when I'm mirroring. What that means is that I have an easier time doing things when other people around me are also doing them. It's easier for me to exercise at a gym, because there are people around me that are also exercising and I really want to give it my all. It's easier for me to study when I'm in a location or with someone else doing the same thing. I feed off of the vibe.

I also have a big fear of abandonment, and being alone. And fandom really slapped me with two doses of that this year. Let me preface the rest of this by saying when people refuse to communicate, people on the other end can only make assumptions. And if you don't want assumptions made about you, you have to communicate. I was a member of a fandom discord server for a long time. But, I was suddenly kicked out under several accusations--while the moderators actively ignored their own procedures. I am on the autism spectrum. Sometimes I try to relate to other people by sharing that I have had similar experiences. Sometimes this is misinterpreted as me trying to shift the center of the conversation onto me. Apparently I did this a few times and instead of talking to me about it, people complained to mods--and the mods declined to speak to me about it. That by itself is unhelpful, but not a huge deal. I appreciate it when people can just talk to me, but I get that some people don't like communicating directly. I was also accused of being a pedophile when I talked about aged up characters who were 17 and 18 at the time of canon with an OC of similar age. And I don't want people acting like they had zero knowledge of their peers messing around when they were teens. I, myself, made out with a boyfriend when I was in high school. (and later decided to break up with him, partially because he was an awful kisser, but that is a different story.) And several people on this same server did the same thing. But, I was the only one kicked out without warning. When I spoke to a mod about this, I was told that 'Oh, well normally we would have spoken to you about this directly and warned you--but you were just too intimidating to talk to.' And that's bullshit. I was also actively told that this was a mod decision made despite their knowing it actively went against their own rules. I was told to 'understand' that they couldn't clarify things amongst the other users. No. I had to accept what happened because it was 'for the good of the group' and 'their hands were tied.' And to that I call fucking bullshit. That's just a cover for 'it was more convenient to kick you' and 'we didn't feel like doing our jobs.' I joined another server. In this server, I think I was the only non-black user. I'm Asian. At one point, I was also kicked out of this server without warning and without any mods returning my PMs. And I had discussed what happened with the previous server with the admin before I joined. So it wasn't that. I also clarified that I was Asian in this server at a later date--to the surprise of everyone else. Once again, I DMed some members of the sever. No response from the mods. And I can only imagine they enjoyed gossiping about me the way they gossiped about other tumblr users in the same way when I was still in that server. But what happened directly before? I made a youtube video criticizing a single section of a single work of black author that I liked. The author herself commented that I made very good points, and had great ideas. She asked if she could use some of them. Now, most of my videos barely get any reaction from anyone. But, I had a bunch of thumbs-down on that video in particular. So what am I left to assume, but that I was kicked for criticizing someone's work in a way that the author herself acknowledged was a good critique. Some time later, the thumbs down reactions were removed. And honestly that seems fucking suspicious to me.

I'm not going to say anything about race here. Because I don't think that's the issue. Maybe something about toxic insularity. Definitely a lot about poor communication or the choice not to communicate. What I'm going to say is that I think it's fucking bullshit that people will act like they have your back and support you -- but will toss you out like trash the moment you do something inconvenient for them. A lot of my former fandom friends have left fandom. A lot of them have left social media, because they didn't like it anymore. I understand that. But it's so fucking painful that people can seem to like your content and encourage you, but be so two-faced behind your back. I hope that one day I can find another writing community. Or another fandom community, and I won't be treated the same. I love making content. But, I also hate the way fandom interacts with me. So I'm torn. Part of me wants to throw a tantrum and remove all of my content from all fandoms. But, I don't think anyone would actually notice.

And I don't think I would have considered fandom writing again if my Star Trek Worldbuilding hadn't started getting so many reblogs. Do you like my content? Do you like what I write? I'm honestly glad. Because that's what I wanted.

But I also hope that some of you read this, and come to understand...something. I don't know what I want people to get from this. I guess I just wish I had friends I could trust.

Fe or Fi?

Hello there, how are you doing? Sorry to add one more submission ion flooding your blog, I’m not sure this will be of any use but I’d have a little question… The other day, I had a conversation via texting in a group chat, when this guy started taking me apart and we had a nice chat about MBTi but the thing is it completely destabilized me… To contextualize, a girl said something about ISFPs being the most honest type and got a shitstorm of offended people calling her out (not really relevant to the whole story but that’s related to the first answer I wrote) and I started chatting with her. Then the guy came in and here is what we said (Sidenote: I use a fair amount of emojis when I write… I’m not sure how important it is to the whole wooly booly but “he” mentions me being “bouncy” in the beginning so I thought I’d clarify what he means by that since we never met in real life ^^)

Me: sorry but the « we’re thankfully not that miserable » SOUNDS like trying to put ISFPs on a « special snowflakes » position :/ I’m not saying that’s what you intended, just that’s how it sounds to others and I think it’s important to understand what’s wrong in how you deliver a genuine good message and causes you to be misunderstood ^^’ Him: offtopic but I’ve been thinking for a while, are you sure you’re not ENFP ? You’ve got that emotional enthusiasm a lot of times, where I just wouldn’t bother (like… here ^^). Could be mobilizing Fe, but I’m starting to think it extends beyond that and includes Fi views (of being inclusive and enthusiastic). Me: I thought for a long time I was a Fi user too (and I still have moments when I question my type…) :) But after asking people who knew better than me, read about all those differences and basically, I care way too much to fit in and be accepted at the price of being my “true self” to be a Fi, even more a high Fi user. The person I show in this group is far from being the same as I am in real life :) The contrast with my sister, who is ESTJ and one of my ENFP friend is shocking (that’s when I started wondering if I was really one ^^). Even what you point out could be a proof I have Fe since Fe tries to actively impact others’ opinions and mood while a healthy Fi would be more “as long as you don’t hurt me or someone I like, I don’t care what you think :) ”. This quote for example, I used to think I had this mindset, that I wouldn’t mind what someone else believes or does, but the sad truth is I do. I will never violently shut someone off because of that but I’ll try to convince them what they believe or do makes no sense, and become extremely obnoxious in the process… Recently I started wondering if I’m not an FJ, maybe my Fe is actually higher than I first thought, but again, when I meet my ESFJ friends, my ISFJ step mother and my ENFJ best friend, I can see I’m clearly not as easy going with my emotions and feelings as them. I can be expressive and even fake emotions to adapt to the people around me, but in comparison, they’re way more enthusiastic and upbeat than I am, and know exactly how to respond to someone in distress when I would just stand there, awkwardly… ^^‘ I don’t know, of course I could be wrong and I’m still constantly learning but anytime I doubt, I see someone posting about ENxP and ExTP and I just feel a punch like “that’s so relatable it hurts” x) But I’m interested in all comments and advice ^^ I’m still trying to stop constantly questioning if I’m not an ISxJ or any other type, anyhow… Him: mmh, Fi users can be as much concerned with what others think of them. Fe vs. Fi is rather a question of how/why :) At least, I’m pretty convinced you’re not an ISTJ (and I don’t think I know when ENTP that could have doubts being ISTJ… doubts usually revolve around ENTJ, INTP, stuff like that, so this one is weird ^^). Me: Haha I’ve been through every single one of them x) I think the only types I was sure not being were INxJ and ENTJ since I don’t relate to high Ni at all :)

Now I guess it’s all a little confusing and really, if you don’t have an answer, I won’t expect you to bother thinking too much about it, but my only real question is if anything I said showed I’m a Fi user? :/ I won’t ask about my exact type, it’s just somehow, I “absorbed” this person’s opinion like a sponge, as if it were mine… and the more I think about it, the more I think maybe I was wrong all along… Also, the people I mention (friends, family…) are people I tried typing myself, so it could explain my mistakes, since I used them as comparisons. If any of you have the patience going through this, thank you a lot (thank you a lot anyway ^^) and have a nice day/evening!

There’s misconceptions about the judging axis from both of you, here.

Fi is not “emotional enthusiasm.” Fi is subjective judgments. A Fi user will judge that as fine, and this as not fine, in an inconsistent manner. When a Ti user points out, “But that is inconsistent,” a Fi will shrug and say, “That’s how I feel. I care about this, and I do not care about that.” It has nothing to do with emojis, or coming across as :) in conversations, it’s a process of self-filtering that ultimately comes down to, “I do not like this. I would not like that to happen to me. I have no experience with that to pull from, so I cannot tell you how I would act in that situation…” in an uncompromising manner. That’s why people call Fi “selfish.” It goes through SELF.

Fe is others-referencing. It needs no personal experience to care, it does not filter through self, it mirrors other people’s feelings, and it often “forgets” self in defending others and/or seeing through their eyes. “You should not do that, it is inappropriate / it offends others / it is an ill-informed opinion.” That is why Fe can be called “overbearing” or “interfering,” because it tends to police people who are not behaving appropriate to the situation. Fe thinks there are appropriate emotions in this context, and inappropriate emotions, and it’s better to express the right ones.

Just about everyone cares what other people think, just on a sliding basis. I care very much what people think of me… but it is all tied to my core Enneagram. I have no doubt your caring is also tied to your Enneagram, and that you have a social stacking, which further makes you AWARE of what others think of you.

Your comment that you “fake feelings to fit in” makes me think you are not high Fi, but then why are you doing it? It’s the why that matters, not the what. It’s why you think as you do, and feel as you do, and react as you do, that makes up your type, not what you are doing. People of different functions do the same things for different reasons. Other people being enthusiastic and upbeat really has nothing to do with you, because you may not be an enthusiastic or upbeat person, and neither of those things are “necessary” to be a Ne-dom. All you need to be a Ne-dom is... well, dominant Ne and inferior Si.

Several thoughts:

1) The fact that you others-reference so much in your argument could be one or two things – you are an extrovert or you are a Fe. An extrovert is not inward focused, it looks to the outer world first. A Fe is so busy thinking about other people’s behavior, it’s not thinking about itself. Which one are you doing?

2) Your inability to find your type and “constant questioning” does suggest high Ne, because they are universally the people who find it hardest to settle on a type and who are prone to picking out minor details to support a ridiculous self-typing (I say this from experience, I look back on typing ISFJ with angst). This comes from Ne’s tendency to believe things without any proof, and inferior Si’s inability to come up with specifics to ground their thinking in reality.

3) “I absorbed this person’s opinion like a sponge.” If you are running with other people’s ideas because they seem rational and reverse your thinking process to incorporate this new idea (despite having no proof), then you are probably a Ne-dom – they are inconsistent in their thinking because other people’s ideas stick to them like flypaper. It makes them adaptable and open-minded but also prone to pursuing absurd ideas about themselves, because that’s what this other person said about me!!

So I’m just gonna get right to the point. I love playing Skyrim, I love playing as my OCs in Skyrim. I especially love modding the living heck out of this game while playing as my OCs and pretty much living vicariously through them.

However, as much as I love this game IT IS SEVERELY LACKING IN LGBTQ+ CONTENT AND THE OPTION TO MARRY SOME CHARACTERS OF THE SAME GENDER AND ONE INSTANCE OF AN MLM COUPLE THROUGH A LETTER BECAUSE THEY’RE BOTH DEAD AF IN THE DRAGONBORN DLC IS NOT ENOUGH FOR MY QUEER ASS!

So what to do? Mods! It’s 2020 and a lot more people are openly accepting and open-minded, right? So finding LGBTQ+ mods should be a lot easier, right? Eh.........no. I’ve spent several days trying to find mods to make my Skyrim playthrough as queer as I possibly can make it, specifically for my High Elf OC who is trans (FtM), very effeminate, has a none muscular body and build and very gay. I think now, after several days of research, tutorials, testing and an endless amount of headaches I think I have the mods to make my play through true to how I imagine and have written this character as.

Bare with me for a few seconds, I promise I’ll get to the point and this is worth reading. I’m trying to get as much information in this as possible.

Disclaimer:

This mod list is only for the PC version of the game. Look, I’m super, super sorry but basically over 95% of all these mods are exclusively found online and even if they ARE on beth.net they aren’t used at full capacity from what I understand. Believe me, as a mainly console player, it breaks my heart that I can’t include the consoles for this list.

I won’t be linking to just Nexus. I’ve found a bunch of mods outside of the Nexus that are reliable.

I’ll only be working with the Special Edition version of the game. It’s the one I have and am playing on.

I will NOT be covering female body replacers. At freakin’ all. There are literal dozens of mods covering this. There will only be ONE and it is for very specific reasons only.

In my little venture into finding these mods I came across a lot of homophobic, transphobic and downright disgusting comments within the Nexus. I also found out a lot of queer mod authors were driven out of the Nexus because of said homophobic people. This is what happened to Vector and also why SavrenX refuses to upload anything other than weapon, item retextures to the Nexus. Nexus users and community overall is very homophobic and toxic so I’m very sorry if you see or read something upsetting. I advice you avoid the comments (known as posts on Nexus) tab as to avoid seeing some vile shit. Ignore them and don’t engage them ffs, they just want a reaction out of you. There’s no correcting these assholes much less educating them. They ain’t worth your time. Just report and move on.

The majority of the mods linked in this post have been tried by me, if I haven’t tried them out I’ll say so. Again, I’m learning as I go along and believe me this hasn’t been an easy task to find all of these working mods.

No, I won’t be searching or uploading any ports, texture, mesh or mod edits I myself have done. I ain’t confident in how well I may have or not have edited the mods and more importantly that’s as bad as uploading art that wasn’t done by you. Sadly, you’ll have to do these changes yourself. I’ll try my best to link tutorials. Also don’t go and harass the authors for a port or an update ffs.

I’ll most likely be editing this list as I learn more.

Yes, I will leave links from adult sites. A lot of these sites pretty much force you to sign up in order for you to download their content. It’s fine, just make some random account and you’ll instantly gain access to the mods. Just know there’ll be nsfw images, gifs and videos everywhere in these sites.

While I will be referring to male characters a lot of these if not all can also cater to non-binary characters too!

No, I will not be covering sex mods. I have no intention of adding them to any of my load orders and I really don’t care to. You’re on your own for that category. Try Lover’s Lab.

*Body Mods/Replacers/Races:

Schlongs of Skyrim (aka SOS). Not the only choice out there but the most current and fully working one. Pretty much mandatory for a bunch of mods so might as well have it, ya know?

Tempered Skins for Males. Was known as Better Males; pairs up beautifully with SOS. Super amazing work if you ask me.

Shape Atlas for Men (aka SAM). This is literally the god king of all male body replacers. Want a twunk? This mod will do it. Want a regular Joe? This can do it. Want a bear of a man running around in Skyrim? Yeah, girl, this can do it. Ever since I discovered it I have been obsessed with it! HOWEVER, the full working mod is only available for Old Skyrim, maybe for Legendary Edition but I’m not sure. Vector said he had plans to port the full working mod to Special Edition but confessed he was having issues with the scripts. Also afaik Vector’s last updates on working on the mod were back in late 2016 so I think it’s safe to say this beautiful mod will never be seen running on SSE. Sadly Vector just up and left the modding scene somewhere in 2018. It none of our business but from what I read he faced a lot of homophobic harassment from people not liking his body mod or giving him shit because he didn’t want to make a female body mod. He even faced harassment from our very own community.

Not all’s lost though. Some of the amazing modders in Vector’s site have made a working version for SSE.

SAM Light, SAM Morphs for RaceMenu, SAM SE Vanilla Armor Refit, SAM High Poly Conversion, SAM Light Texture Add-on, High Poly Head

The Ultra Femme. Title should be super self-explanatory. Super good if your character is really femme or non-binary or trans. I haven’t tried out this body myself and I’m not entirely sure whether this is compatible with SE or not. RefurbMadness has a lot of mods hosted in her site and still has some in Nexus that are being hosted by the site’s Care Taker. I’m actually gonna link a few later. I honestly suggest going through her site and reading up everything. She’s pretty clear when it comes to instructions, the only problem is she’s not exactly clear on whether her mods are compatible with SE or not. Maybe it’s written somewhere in there, I’m still new to modding and need very clear descriptions (you kinda gotta talk to me like I’m 5 when it comes to mods). I need to check more of her content and test a bunch of things. She also has armor and clothing mods.

Milkdrinker Male Texture and Slim Male Body for SoS (<3<3<3). Both by the same mod author. Sadly only available for Old Skyrim but the only reason why I linked it is because both mods are super easy to convert to use for SSE. Sweetie, if I managed to do it, you can do it too. Watch this, or this or this or try to Google it and see what comes up. Personally I tried the Slim Male Body and it was pretty good. Unfortunately you’d have to refit all the armors to fit either body yourself.

Transgender Race and NPCS SSE. Like I said before I wasn’t going to link or talk about any female body replacers except for one. This one! Look, there are a few out there but they’re extremely transmisogynistic and fetishistic and use a lot of outdated and transphobic language plus they’re mostly sex mods so I will abso-freaking-lutely NOT be linking them. Anyway, the people behind this port are back to working on this mod and have plans for adding transgender men. As of now the mod only has transgender women. They can’t add more genders due to the engine limitations and FYI they used “race” in the title because this isn’t a body mod, it’s actually a race. This is one of the few mods that won’t play well with SoS.

There IS one more body or better said, race, I tried but I really didn’t like it. Mod worked as it was advertised but--well, whatever, it’s for personal reasons that I didn’t like it and it depended way too much on a lot of more mods and it bloated up my LO something fierce so for that reason I ain’t gonna link it. Mod’s called Femboy if you wanna give it a try yourself.

*Extras (edits, armors, clothes and more):

Enhanced Character Edit SE. Tl;dr this is like RaceMenu but on steroids. It offers way more sliders and because of this it has fantastic potential to mold your character’s body to your personal liking. I used this instead of RM for my High Elf I mentioned earlier. He has a more “delicate” frame and is much thinner than my other OCs and this mod did exactly what I’ve been trying to achieve for a very long time now. Works like a charm.

SSE Luscious Locks for All - Unisex KS Hair. Makes it so that male characters can use all the hair options that comes with KS Hairdos SSE. Guys with long hair! Yummy! <3

Oooooooorrrrrrr you can just install ApachiiSkyHair SSE which has a bunch of long hair options for men to look fabulously yummy! This is the one I’m using.

Femfeet Redesigned SSE Port For Everyone. Look, it’s a foot texture mod, that’s it. Works with Better Males aka Tempered Skins and SoS, so yes, your guys will have pretty feet. Load this AFTER you body mod of choice.

Apachii Divine Elegance Store. This store has so much to offer. Really beautiful clothes and armors, exceptional jewelry, wonderful accessories aaaaaand your male character can also use the nails that are offered by the mod. So if you want your male character to have some stunning and colorful manicures done this mod offers it. They also offer actual claws that also comes in different colors so you can have both styles. Look, imo this is a must for femme male and enby characters. Your guys are going to look beautiful!

Immersive Jewelry - Earring for Male Characters. This enables Immersive Jewelry earrings to be wearable and visible on male characters.

Light Elven Armor for Men, Light Glass Armor for Men, Light Daedric Armor for Men. Tired of women being the only ones to get skimpy outfits? Ja, me too! Here’s some of the armor mods RefurbMadness ported to SSE before she left Nexus. There’s more available for Old Skyrim but you’ll need to convert them over to SSE yourself.

Slof’s Lair. Slof has a collection of skimpy armors, some accessories and even modern clothes (if that’s your thing). They have a link to their Nexus profile on their page but instead of adding all the links I just figured to leave the link to their site so you can check everything they have to offer. I haven’t tried any of Slof’s mods myself though I’m super interested in the Just For Men collection of mods and the Goth Shop (chill, it’s mostly Tera armors without the need to download that massive Tera mod).

Tera Armors Collection - Special Edition. And here’s that massive mod I previously mentioned but it’s actually a really good one. I’ve tested this out on both pc and Xbox One and it looks gorgeous on both!

The Well Dressed Mage. Not exactly skimpy but kind of revealing. Idk, these look lovely af and I wanna try them on my Altmer. Maybe someone else will want to try these too.

Modular Bandoliers and Pauldrons for Males. Pretty simple and to the point. Haven’t tried it since it wouldn’t go with my elf’s more refined bitchy tastes.

Bad Dog’s Skimpy Clothes SE. Some skimpy outfits for guys that were converted over to SE apparently not too long ago.

Bodyslide and Outfit Studio. So none of the stuff listed above is to your liking. That’s where this comes in. Thing is you actually CAN convert female armors and clothes for male use. So download the armors and clothes you wanna use and throw them and the body meshes you use into Outfit Studio. I myself am still learning how to go about doing this and the tutorials out there are kinda hard to come by. Try this video. I followed it and managed to convert a female outfit to fit on a male body I was using. Still need a lot of practice though but am working on it.

As far as makeup goes you can edit the colors of your character’s eyeshadow, eyeliner, cheeks and lips but with ECE or RaceMenu you can edit the colors further. May need to do some extra hard tweaking some choices though, not gonna lie. If I find a much better option I’ll post it.

I’m currently trying to find how the heck to get male characters to wear heels or if there’s a mod that has it. Like, that’s the last thing I need to make clothes complete. I’ll get back to this when I find it.

*Animations:

FNIS PCEA2 - Player Exclusive Animations (Dynamic) SE. So you got your character, you’ve dressed them and done up their hair and all that and to this point it’s all come together perfectly...until your femme male/enby character or your butch female/enby character starts walking and standing idly by and the poses and animations are completely and utterly wrong. Why is he walking like an angry gorilla? Why is she walking like a Victoria’s Secret model down the walkway? Can you switch their animations?

YES!!!

PCEA2--and yes, you will need FNIS to get this working--allows you to make animation changes to only your character. You can even add and/or remove which animation packs you want your character to use! I’ve just barely begun testing this mod as well as adding some specific packs for my Altmer and the pretty female idles works like a charm for him. I downloaded FNIS Sexy Move SE to try this out on him and see if it works but according to Fore it should work as long as you installed everything correctly and ticked the appropriate box to activate the animation pack you want. I’m not entirely sure if you can customize the choices given by each animation pack, probably something as simple as deleting the animations you don’t want and leaving the one you do want. I’ll have to test this further.

*Gameplay and Voices:

Simply Gay Letters. Simple and sweet little mod that adds some letters in certain places all over Skyrim tying certain NPCs to other NPCs. The hinted at couples are all the mod author’s headcanons so if that bothers you I suggest moving on.

Queering Skyrim - Blueflower Necklace. Basically it stops female NPCs from showing interest in your male character when wearing an amulet of Mara. Queering Skyrim - Lavender Menace Necklace does the exact same thing but for female characters.

Same Sex Perks - A Lover’s Insight - Agent of Dibella - Allure. Y’all remember Confirmed Bachelor from New Vegas? Remember how no Beth game has put it in their games again but are totally adding some lazy attempts to include us LGBTQ+ folks? The author has a pretty clear and easy to understand description of the mod in the page. There’s also Gay Insight - A Lover’s Insight Tweak which does the same as the other one but much simpler. I guess it’s up to you and your tastes when it comes to which one to use. I myself am using Same Sex Perks since it adds other perks.

Player Voicesets for SSE - Custom Voice Version. I downloaded this but I haven’t installed it yet. If I understood correctly this lets you change your character’s voice to any of the in game voices. My advice? Go into the page and read everything.

PC Head Tracking and Voice Type SE. The reason I haven’t installed the previous mod is because I have THIS one installed because of the head tracking but it also comes with an added voice feature so this might clash with the other one. I still need to test whether they do the same thing or not.

Skyrim - Player Re-Voiced Series. CaseyTheVA was kind enough to make a bunch of voices for your character. Just your character. I’ve tested these on Xbox and they are legit really freakin’ good! They seem to have added a lot more since the last time I checked. Unfortunately these are only available on beth.net or for Old Skyrim on the Nexus. You could just download them from the game’s mod page and remove the files and upload them back into the game using whatever mod manager you use. I did this with Cheat Room. Or you can port them yourself from Nexus. Honestly the quality alone is worth all the trouble.

Usually, when people get weird rejections it’s often passed off as “lazy reviewers” whom just pick something random. But, lazy people usually go for the things that are the least effort... they’re lazy JUST because they want to get an “Upgrade”. There’s a fundamental flaw in this process.... it’s also NOT as tho Niantic is unaware.....

But...... it’s funny how I’ve found a strong correlation to the PokéStops submissions I put through that got accepted, and the ones that didn’t.

I hereby testify that all of the ones that went through were ones I never mentioned on social media, and the ones that got rejected were ones I DID mention were my submissions.

Why?

Because we’re a community. We share the intel, the techniques, the methods, and resources.

I also noticed that intel I publicly gave out so others could also submit a nomination when Wayfarer went live, were also rejected under suspicious illogical reasons....

However, after multiple tries, and the glossy luster of the new Wayfarer wore off, those slacked off periods ended up having the submissions going through....

But, since everyone kept insisting it’s just “lazy viewers” I went along with it.... but I also noticed that areas that went through were usually places and areas I did NOT tell anyone about. But areas that I did publicly divulge WOULD get rejected because it was specifically something I PUBLICLY WANTED.

This pattern was very strong.

Then, when I got a rejection reason accusing me of harassing people, abusing Niantic’s system, and basically accusing me of being a Nazi, I blogged about it last week.

I also vented about it on social media.

1 key 🔑 point I said was that we knew months ago that the usual reason that a PokéStop submission could be rejected also according to OPR Ingress players was a bad photo. 📷 Being that I’m actually a photographer 📸 I worried about my exposures being bad, and often reshot the photos to be sure persons, minimal cars, and animals were out of the shots, lighting was good, composition was Level, etc...

And I mouthed off that if they’d just picked photo rather than accuse me of being a Nazi, plus the fact that it got rejected in hours when there was nothing wrong with my submission, I wouldn’t have caught on that a pack of haters were plotting to sabotage me.

There were other odd behaviors of people being rude to me since June, and it ramping up this month in Discord. People I didn’t even know, and weird inside jokes of people laughing at some kind of inside jokes, blocking me, and posting photos bragging about how I was blocked. People “liking” those posts and laughing at me because in their private DMs they are trashing me.... OBVIOUSLY. I also noticed there’s persons I can’t “like” posts to, nor reply to... and I don’t even know who they are. I can see their posts, but they don’t seem to see mine... and the head of the Discord was pressuring me to tell him who.... I just don’t want these punks to be kicked out. Yes, they’re jerks & immature.... but I don’t think they should shut out of the community over it... or banned from playing the game.

Well..... it’s been getting weirder...

After my post exposé of how people were ganging up on my nominations, probably scouring anything local to my area, presuming it’s mine, or connected to my intel, the very next day another submission went through within less than 2 hours!

So.... to me, it seems as tho they’re stalking my social media, realized they were busted, felt guilty, then pushed that other one through. I’d also publicly said THAT area was one I was currently suspending any further activity from submitting anything to....... I never said I didn’t have any left in my cue tho.... so, either that pack of them hanged up to push it through based on guilt.... OR THEY THOUGHT SOMEONE ELSE MADE IT.

But, get this.... I publicly TOLD everyone in the Discord server that it got accepted.... so, I kept waiting for it to show in game.... it usually shows either the following day at 2PM, or the day after that at 2PM.... but days went by, and NOTHING was there...

I wondered why.... because I so meticulously planned everything out... I left instructions in both submissions, because 1 was bear the previous one, but were near the edges of 2 different cells.....

So, by the end of the week, I checked the PokéStop......... AND IT WAS MOVED.... meaning SOMEONE MOVED IT AFTER IT HAD ALREADY BEEN PUT IN THE GAME.... THEY ALSO moved it into the OTHER CELL, which cancels out that other POI from showing in BOTH Ingress but ALSO Pokémon Go...

Then, I realized that ONLY OPR could do that....

But, didn’t OPR get shut down????

So, I publicly asked.....

Then, as I was outside playing Ingress I noticed that OPR shows that I have “agreements” in my stats and several, even tho my Level was only 6, then Leveled up to 7.... so, is OPR still there?

In OPR higher level players get personal preference biases to the final say of Portal/PokéStop submissions and can move them....

Apparently, we can suggest a PokéStop point to be moved also.... but, in Ingress if someone does it I CAN SEE THEIR USER NAME!

Oh! And I SAW WHO DID IT!

I recognize this player!

This player started used to have a lower level than mine, but is NOW Level 8... meaning they can move stuff, and change things...

But............... this person IS ON THE OPOSING BLUE TEAM. The Resistance Team. I’m on The Enlightenment Team.

So... is this whole thing based on a BEEF IN INGRESS???? Well, at least THIS suspect seems to be connected to it.

Well, I called this person out.

This person KNOWS that I play BOTH Pokémon Go AND Ingress as the same name AND my social media is the same name. Implying that they are cyber stalking me, and have an enterage.

This saboteur person ALSO can read the Discord and is in there.

I recently vented on social media that this person flubbed up. Because accusing me of abusing Niantic’s system, being a bully, a Nazi, and harassing people just by making a PokéStop submission, and it happening incredibly fast not only was dubious but it’s a TELL that I’m being actively sabotaged by a group of bullies that have it out for me, for some unknown reason....

Plus, I just HAPPENED to mention on Tuesday that I KNEW who the player was in Ingress, and I’m ONTO THEM, effectively calling them out....

Well, yesterday (Wednesday) in the evening THIS SPECIFIC PLAYER decides he wants to start playing again....

As you can see.... he hasn’t touched my portals much since November.... but, interestingly enough.... he did actually start playing THE MOMENT my new PokéStop by Marylou’s went up..... weirdly coincidentally.... but also, I added in 2 submissions there.... which 1 was a goddess and the other was a male Buddha... but SOMEONE combined them as a DUPLICATE even tho they ARE NOT. YET ANOTHER WEIRD COINCIDENCE..... oh, and it’s VERY OPR...

So.... when I’m in game, and I realize that THIS GUY was the one who MADE THE EDITS BECAUSE INGRESS TELLS ME WHO DID IT AND I CAN SEE HUS NAME, then I out him n call him out on Tuesday.... Wednesday he comes back out WITH A VENGEANCE!

Do u have any idea how much time it takes to put up all those portal fields in Ingress? But, it also takes quite a while to take out the opposing teams’ stuff. I know. I’ve been playing for a year. Well, there’s pages upon pages of him trying to take me down! He must’ve been out there for 2 hours in the sub freezing cold!

I use Mods on my portals.... maybe u should look that stuff up, dude. Just sayin’.... 😆

I got a rejection on something that was stuck in the cue for a long time... and honestly THAT ONE seemed fine and reasonable to me. It was one I submitted just to see what happened. To check quality control. It was the Satellite Radar Dish from the Cold War. I had a feeling it probably wouldn’t go through... and it didn’t. I’m OK with that. And the reasons given were all thoughtful ones.

But THIS yet again just shows how brainless, impulsive, reckless, and Sadist u are.

Remember when I said on social media that I wouldn’t have ever caught on that I was being sabotaged if they’d JUST picked Bad Photos as a reason? Yeah, I JUST recently publicly said that this week & last week.

But, since it’s CLEARLY a pack of bullies, and SOME can’t help themselves because they’re weak minded and have no self control over emotions, impulses, and ego, they ACCUSE MY SUBMISSION NOMINATION of a PokéStop AGAIN of being harassment.... which u can clearly see is no such thing.... but they ALSO accused me of having a bad photo!

BTW I’m a photographer and a cinematographer....

I’ve NEVER EVER had a rejection that claimed I had a bad photo EVER. I found that especially weird, since according to the several lives steams I sat through when Wayfarer went public was that it was the most common reason. So, I would and did worry about it often... then, I mouth off about this in the past 2 weeks, and ANOTHER STRANGE DIRECTLY CORRELATING COINCIDENCE just HAPPENS to be BAD PHOTO AND ACCUSE ME OF A CRIME AS HARASSMENT.

If I must say, I’ve noticed that several players that have access to Wayfarer often chicken out. So, there’s a small handful of us that collaborate and share input, intel, techniques, methods. We’re so good out scouting out POIs that it’s not even a contest. We’re wizards at digging through archives, resources, data.

It’s really a shame that there’s nasty folks out there screwing up.

If we get stuff in game, and we’re very good at troubleshooting and working around problems & obstacles, YOU could actually play on the POIs we added in game.

Honestly, we’re really good at it because we do our due diligence. If Niantic let us loose in a spot anywhere on the globe with unlimited submissions, we’d Turn This Mutha OUT!

You sabbatuer bullies can only stop us to a point. You can’t stop us forever, and you can’t keep us down.

In response to this post https://cs-discourse.tumblr.com/post/185916110098/sorren-fey-picks-about-10-people-as-potential and just the general stuff about the new CS staff, Sorren Fey should be able to add people without Tess doing so for them. I've been an admin on a couple sites, one I created, and another a former close friend created, and I had the same permissions and abilities on both. Granted, I have no idea how CS does things, but they should have roughly the same abilities as every other admin on the site, or at least access the Administration Control Panel (ACP), which is this (ignore the phpbb being out of date, the newer versions are horrid for writing so I'm not touching them for as long as I can and I'm already several versions too late for perfect writing ones because 3.anything is shit for what I do and I shudder to think of CS ever updating to them), and something all admins should have. Features may not be the same, but they all should still see this general looking thing, as opposed to just the Moderator Control Panel, which is still on the site, with a lot less features and more just logs for what has happened.

There are different levels to being admin, which are these, but I'd be incredibly surprised if the site has been handed over to them, and Tess no longer does things with the site, that they couldn't at least edit users and groups.

This is also how you add members to a group, since this feels relevant. Ranks (the text under some names) is a different process, as is colored users, but I'm tired and have things to do and those aren't relevant so here's this.

I completely get not trusting someone else with your site, but I feel like for them to be an admin, that trust would be there, and enough to edit groups and things? I can also understand Tess wanting to review the people to double check because even if the site isn't a bit part of her life anymore, I can still see there being some basic overseeing because it probably means a lot to her, but even then Sorren should have the ability to add users to a group and fix them up with ranks and colored users. The only thing I could see them not having permissions for, is being a founder, which is basically admin, but you can delete other admins.

And since not being able to delete warnings came up, if a mod tells that to you, I'd be hesitant to believe it. I know for a fact global moderators can see this panel (unless CS has the permissions changed), because that former close friend knew one on a different site, and mentioned to me how that friend could see they changed their username and how embarrassed at that they were. My assumption may be wrong, but I'm guessing that RP Moderators have global mod permissions, just for the RP boards and not the rest, and maybe a few less abilities, and given that the warn button is right next to the one for users notes, I'm pretty sure warnings would show up here, with a nice and pretty delete system. I'd show you the rest of this but it also shows IPs and I'd rather not give y'all mine. Also just in general, a system that doesn't let you remove a warning is kind of ridiculous and phpbb is definitely advanced enough to have that.

Also I'm probably being really fucking gullible and naive here, but I'm kind of inclined to believe at least some of the stuff people are saying about the new mods? I've not gotten a warning or anything since they banned links and shit in rp posts years ago and Pandle warned us for linking a song, so things have probably changed and I'm just going off of old news, but just ahh I'd not be surprised. I think the CS staff and mods are doing a wonderful job (not perfect, but I want to make it clear that I do have an immense amount of respect for them, and what it takes to run this site and they're a lot better than any other staff I've ever seen in other places), but I've definitely seen mods on other sites (Advanced Scribes namely, which I could go on forever about and do have receipts for most) do similar things or just not act as you'd expect the staff of such a site to do, and considering CS is a children's site, we're going to get a lot of young people (including young adults, like myself, because while you're labeled an adult, most are just out of school, and still have a lot of learning and experiencing to do) who are still figuring things and themselves out and stuff like that can happen. That's no excuse, because they're still old enough to know that's wrong, but ahh I hope the point I'm trying to make there makes sense. What's being said may not be true, and people may not be who they say they are, but I'm still inclined to believe that there's at least some truth to it because of things I've seen, and my own experiences with different staff teams.

Of course, I could be completely wrong with all of this since I've had no interactions with the staff in years and I'm really just on CS for the kals and friends I've made so I really have no idea what's going on with any of that, but since people are wanting proof of things I feel like being able to see this side of things might help, or at least bring a little clarity to what's cloudy and help people come to their own decisions on their own. I'm also still finding my way around the control panel too, so some stuff may be wrong as well, and for that I am sorry, but I tried to keep to things I know about so ahhh hopefully I've not gotten everything horrible wrong for you all. Anyway, I'm sorry if this is a jumbled mess, and I hope you all have a lovely day <3

An Update on the Latest Fanfiction.Net Nonsense

(for those of you who, like me, haven’t really paid much attention to the site since maybe 2014)

So, like a lot of fanfiction writers, I’ve mostly moved to A03 and haven’t really kept current with the site drama that goes down from time to time on Fanfiction.Net. I’m not sure how long it’s been since I’ve interacted with the forums on that site, but I’m pretty sure it’s been multiple years. Unfortunately, this nonsense is now my problem, and it may be your problem too.

If you are unlucky like me, you might’ve received some confusing spam reviews over the last few weeks or months. Hopefully, you’ve also seen that post about the more recent Fanfiction.Net profile hack, and are safely logged out of your account. Again, I am not really plugged into FFN site culture at all anymore, so when the spam reviews mentioned “CU,” I had no idea what they were talking about. Now I do, though.

Turns out that CU stands for Critics United, which is one of those annoying forums made up of people who have decided that they are going to act as moderators for Fanfiction.Net, without any actual authority whatsoever. You know, those people that leave reviews telling authors that they’ve violated Fanfiction.Net’s TOS with their songfic or whatever and then if the 12-year-old in question doesn’t remove the lyrics to “Every Time We Touch” from their fic, they report the kid to the actual mods and get the story taken down. I don’t have the best opinion of those types of groups. Even if the people that they are reporting are violating the Terms of Service, these people are getting the fics taken down because they don’t like fics with bad grammar, songfics, CYOA-fics, RPF and other types of fics that violate the TOS. Also, while they do “offer” to help authors bring their fics into compliance with the TOS, when the alternative is them reporting the fics to the site so they’ll be deleted, their actions are better described as “coercing” or “threatening.” I can’t help but think it’s a bit of a power trip for at least some of them, even if it isn’t an entirely conscious one.

Apparently, whoever it is that is sending all of these spam reviews also does not approve of Critics United, or at least wants us to think that how they feel. Most of the spam reviews I have received goes something like this: “Hate CU [long number] CU are C**ks. For freedom! Spread the message! Mary out.” The reviews I have received do not have the asterisks. While Reddit users reported that the profile hack changed over time, for a while people’s profiles were being changed to the sentence “I support Critics United.” It’s difficult to say whether the profile hack is the same person and they are attempting to frame Critics United for their actions, or whether it’s a different person, with motives more along the lines of identity theft or other such malicious things, attempting to disguise what they’re doing as a product of forum drama.

It is worth noting that there are no shortage of people with a motive to do this as revenge against Critics United. There are several forums on Fanfiction.Net specifically dedicated to complaining about Critics United, though many of them are inactive at this point. Critics United also maintains a list of the fanfictions they have interacted with in one of their forums, and it is not a short list.

Don’t get me wrong. What the spammer is doing is not justified, no matter what has been done to them. I wasn’t even aware of Critics United, and yet my story was targeted. The same is true of a number of other people I know. As for whoever is hacking profiles, whether it is the same person or not, that is even less justified. The spam is annoying; the profile hack has wiped out people’s data and also scared at least a few people into deleting their accounts. Some people on Reddit speculated that the profile hacking might be the work of a white hat hacker, but if they are, they are doing a terrible job of trying to be a good guy.

That said, I remember way back when I was still super active on Fanfiction.Net, and I ran across the community that is now FROG, but was then Eliminator. I remember finding it quite upsetting that people acted this way— deliberately looking for rule breaking fics and working to get them thrown off the site. I was scared to stand up to them though, because even though none of my fics are really songfics, a few of them have a single line of lyrics in them, or are named after songs, and I thought that might be enough for these zealots to come after me. Now, though, I’ve got an AO3 and a Tumblr and absolutely no patience for this nonsense.

If this person really is after Critics United and not just using that motive as a smokescreen, then I’m really glad that when Critics United finally pushed the wrong person, it was somebody who knew too much about computers and not enough about consequences, rather than someone violent. That said, I’m still not too happy that I have literally hundreds of stupid spam reviews on my fics, especially if it’s all because of a forum made up of 10 people who also don’t understand that much about consequences.

If it’s an actual hacker, I will be so angry if my personal info gets stolen because Fanfiction.Net’s admins do not care about their site.

I’ll finally answer these as my inbox is filled with these..

Zeena - Up until recently, I didn’t really notice her at all. She and other mods weren’t really doing shit, but recently, she’s been doing somewhat good about it. She mostly goes unknown because she seems to just stick to the threads that are being bumped too often by the person who made it. Other than that, there isn’t much. I don’t see her anywhere else other than issuing trade thread warnings.

tarkeli - They do their job. But they really aren’t the best at it. They’ve been playing it safe with Zeena with the whole bumping issue. While there is a lot to cover, there still are more places to help out, but where they chose to is just not the best. When it comes to new discussion topics, just hope tarkeli skips yours. While doing good and closing spam threads, they have a bad habit of looping in perfectly fine threads with the idea that they’re not discussion topics, when they do have a subject and many points are open to be discussed and the ideas are to be further developed. I had high hopes for this person, but now I hope they’re the first gone.

Cerru - I honestly feel like she’s a bit of a hypocrite. While, once again, a mod playing it safe with dealing with the bumping issue, she herself contributes to it. She bumps and reposts her own shit almost just as much. If she or anyone else wanted to help that situation, they’d make reposting and bumping more strict with time.

Dama - I really wonder if the hiring person of CS notices anything about staff would leave and give up their position. Most, if not all, have to do with College and University. Most get too busy and can’t stay around. It’s not to say they can’t do, and they can’t manage time to get on, but it’s just reoccurring, and I’m amazed people still get hired when it’s known.

And while I’m on the topic of reoccurrances, let me repeat myself in saying they’re playing safe, because well, they are, once again with the bumping issue.

What the fuck is it with these new mods who are only going after someone bumping too often? I’ve come across so much shit lately on CS and I’m amazed that after a week or two, it’s still up there. A bunch of cussing, someone giving out their age, someone selling pets for DA points. - You know actually on that point, I’ve seen a mod post on that topic, but you know what about? That’s right, Bumping. Oh, but pets for DA Points? 100% Okay, fine by me, nothing wrong here, never has there been a time that mods/admins had to address this harshly because they’ve stated many times that you can’t do that.

These people are unknown, and they know fucking nothing. They don’t join discussions, they don’t and haven’t been in any, as you can see from their shit’s worth of posts. They address the easiest of things because they’re too afraid to actually do the shit they were hired for.., Oh but wait, one person decided to, and well, they fucked up. Several times. At least they tried, but then again, if you don’t know what the fuck you’re doing, don’t apply and let someone else do it.

I also will comment on what a lot of people pointed out, the lack of posts. Now how in the fucking hell would you think hiring someone who has been on the site and active the whole time but just barely has enough posts to fit in the criteria, was a good idea? This person isn’t active in the community. This person is not going around and trying to be involved. This person does not understand discussions nor is a part of any on the site. How the fuck were they a good choice? They’ve had a few years of running a club? They’re modding a site right now that doesn’t have the same user capacity that CS does, but still some experience? That’s just bullshit. If you’ve been around and know the site, you know what to look for and where to look for it. You know what to do. Sorry for going on. The selection was just bullshit. I hope they either realize this isn’t what they’re able to do and leave, or someone of higher authority realizes their fuck-up and does something about it. Or maybe, the new mods drop the slack and do their job.

juice box. - Honestly, probably a good choice. They seem active with art communities and know what they’re doing. Although shitty choice in games, they’ll probably do good.

katsue - I don’t know really what to say for Oekaki mods. Usually people who post in Oekaki follow all the rules, so there never seems to be much going on. So we’ll have to see how it goes.

Zelery - They seem active in the Oekaki forums, so I think they’ll be looking out, but then again, not much goes on, so we’ll have to see. That’s all I really can say.

INCLUDING, I HOPE, THE PROBLEM THAT HAS AFFLICTED SO MANY PREVIOUS COMMUNITIES: BEING RUINED BY GROWTH

But though I can't predict specific winners, I can offer a recipe for recognizing them. Give Me a Reason (2/9)

December 2012

Makkachin was panting with happiness and exertion, although she waited patiently for Victor to remove the leash and towel the remaining snow off her legs before bounding into the flat and making a beeline for the water bowl. Victor smiled fondly as the poodle attacked the water, lapping at it with the same enthusiasm she had for everything else in her world.

He wasted no time in hanging up his coat and kicking off his boots into the drying tray by the door, knowing that he had a bare few minutes before Makka started whining for dinner. Victor’s own meals during the competition season tended to be pre-packaged, perfectly balanced things that went from the freezer to the microwave to his stomach without concerning themselves with such trifles as flavor or texture along the way, but princesses were never meant to live like that.

“Tonight’s supper is rabbit florentine,” he informed her with the air of a maître d’ reciting the day’s specials. Makka wagged her tail and looked fascinated. The spinach wasn’t actually fresh, but had been run through a juicer, along with a few other vegetables that provided necessary vitamins for an older dog’s digestive health. It looked like swamp muck, but then so did Victor’s protein shakes, so he supposed he couldn’t judge the stuff too harshly. He spooned two large dollops into her bowl, noting that he’d need to make another batch soon.

The rabbit was just that; half a rabbit, raw, cut into chunks with the bones intact. Then came a series of supplement powders, some from the vitamin cupboard and some from the fridge, containing live cultures of healthy bacteria that needed the cold to keep them alive. A raw egg was next, and then the entire thing was crowned with a generous drizzle of fish oil for omega-3s and coat shine.

After a quick toss to ensure that everything was evenly coated with egg, oil, and vitamin powder, Victor set the bowl on the floor. Makkachin pounced on it almost before he could get his hands out of the way, and the kitchen was filled with the sounds of happy whines and crunching.

Ten minutes later, the bowl was licked clean of even the tiniest scrap of oil, and Victor’s own dinner had been nuked and consumed. He assumed it had been chicken, being far too rubbery for fish.

Cleanup was quick, and Makka knew Victor’s routine well. She was already on the couch by the time the plastic meal tray had been disposed of, and dog dish and flatware filed away into the dishwasher. Victor curled up next to her on the sofa, burying his fingers in the warmth of her fur, closed his eyes, and allowed himself to just be for the first time that day.

Several long moments later, he reached for his laptop.
