The joys of tiny rolled hems, doing some hand sewing for my latest 18th century project. I did some sewing / upcycling today and made a new project bag for my knitting. As outer layer I used fabric from an old office skirt and jersey fabric of an earlier sewing project as lining. I didn't use any interfacing because I wanted the bag not too bulky. However, I need to find something else to use as a drawstring cord.
.
The overall shape / pattern is inspired by the "Prue" project bag as shown in a YouTube video by snaply.de ( youtu.be/If5uaq6_-hk ).
I said I might do some more blogging this year after enjoying doing it in the run up to Christmas, so for your reading pleasure I present ‘A Tale of Tailoring’ or ‘it’s not great, but I’m glad I did it’.

Late posting: For Halloween I was the Starbucks green slime cup that was impossible to find/buy because scalpers are scum on earth that deserve all the pain possible.
Some progress pictures of the hand sewing and slapdash beading of pearls and sequins. The drip effect was done with acrylic paint. Originally meant to include a straw but this worked for the time being.
So made a thing and now I want to dance in an open field of flowers. Anyone want to join me? So a friend of mine who is a 19th Century Living Historian like myself, asked me to fix a couple of clothing items, one needed a pewter button for the brasses, a cotton shirt needed the sleeves shortening, and his animal hide shirt/jacket had a huge rip in the under arm so I unstitched the lining and re stitched by hand the shirt/jacket and it’s as good as new. Ready for him to receive all back on Monday morning. #LivingHistory #Reenactment #19thCentury #19thCenturyHistory #19thCenturyLivingHistory #Seamstress #Fixing #Sewing #SewingProject #professional #Stitching #LovingWhatIDo #Native #NativeAmerican #NativeAmericanClothing #NativeClothing https://www.instagram.com/p/CpYbNpQLVW_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Not bad! This is definitely thicker than I expected but would be good for spring and autumn sunny but cool days. The skirt needs adding now... Was going to do a pencil skirt but... I want to twirl a bit. #homesewing #sewingproject https://www.instagram.com/p/CnzLb5HKY5V/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
