They made this record at #compasspoint #chrisblackwell studio in The Bahamas - long ago in in 1982 I was hanging there with a young Irish band and it was such a great creative space whilst there was Chris & Tina making a Tom Tom club record - just the greatest of vibes and hang with Edge from U2 & members of AC/DC - yes you get such great music like #swamp #thismustbetheplacenaivemelody go see either David or The Tom Tom Club if they ever tour again Enjoy! Somewhere in the late '80s I saw this U.K. 12" EP at a friend's house. I had a bunch of Flamin' Groovies records but not this one. I've searched high and low for this thing since then, finally stumbling across a clean copy yesterday at a new record store I'll never tell you about (maybe, if you buy me a can of beer). I'd forgotten how much better this Gene Clark song sounds at 45rpm. When compared with the version on the "Now" LP it's almost as if a fat guy in a thick tweed overcoat was shoved away from the front of your speakers. Thwummpp. And, other than a U.K. Sire cd collection, I can't think of another place to hear the Groovies perform Paint It Black and the original version of Shake Some Action (inferior version, btw).
