first thing that came to shade was eerie. but she means it in the "wow I respect you" way, not the "you're creepy" way. also for some reason I can see her calling her something like "long ago iago" in a kind of sing-songy way ? like considering her accent I think it would work (I imagine her having trouble saying Iagos name tbh, more like "aaago" or "yago") so it would be almost like "long ago, ago" idk but it came to mind. also I can see her referring to Iago as "tongue" if she refers to Puck as "teeth", as in "sharp tongue" and "sharp teeth" bcuz she is kinda unnerved about Pucks teeth situation (going to Iago like... does he really have teeth in the back of his throat ???) and Iago seems like the more sharp witted (no offense Puck !!) of the two

long ago iago is so cute WTF!!! oh i think they'd like that, too.... and being called eerie. they kinda like how eerie and odd they are, or at least they like when that's ACKNOWLEDGED with curiosity rather than judgement (it's how they often look at the world, so it's nice to be on the other end of that). and being nicknamed after their sharp tongue is Very befitting! The sharp brothers........

Also Iago would say that Puck has teeth in the back of his throat. He doesn't, but they'd tell her that because it's funny.

despite growing up in the underdark as she had, and despite the fact the sun still hurt her eyes (though since the tadpole it hurt them far less) fel did not like the dark. or, she did not like the kind of dark that the shadow-cursed lands wrought. the whole place made her feel increasingly nervous - the fact the whole of this tadpole issue seemed to be coalescing at moonrise made the drow anxious.

yet, their newest party member had brought a comfort to that anxiety. shade was incredibly skilled at navigating these lands and seemed entirely unafraid of the curse. several others had gone out to deal with the thorm children, including their ever diligent leader. picking herself up off the seat at her space in camp, and carrying her embroidery with her, she sits down near shade's tent.

she says nothing for a long moment, before offering the square of black fabric towards her. it's little more than a handkerchief, but there are 3 moths embroidered at the corner, and a curling vine-like border around the rest, the white thread standing out vividly on the dark fabric background. "it's a thank you, for the help you've been here so far." she explains, softly.

(hope I'm not too late !) Shade wasn't altogether sure of what to give Cricket for his birthday, but she wanted to give him something. so she took some time to collect some of the more interesting creepy crawlies that she knew inhabited the shadow-cursed lands - certainly they were odd specimens, being able to survive in the darkness ? some even glowed ! - and carefully housed them in an old glass case she had scavenged and dressed to accommodate the new insectoid inhabitants, which she left for him in his tent, accompanied with a note: "I'm not good at birthday gifts, but I know you like bugs, so I thought you might enjoy some of the bugs from around the shadow-cursed lands! happy birthday, I hope this is okay. -shade"

       He only took a break to get himself a sip of water.      Cricket tended to forget drinking in general. One could call him a walking cactus   —   which was not too far from the truth. Living in a desert made him the least liquid-demanding member of their group.

Surprise awaited him when he took off his glasses in the comfortable dim light of his own tent. A jar he would not remember putting there. And it was buzzing with life.

The note attached was quickly plucked off, reading over it a few times to take in as much information   —   to not miss anything.

The Thri-Kreen did like bugs. They were kin, in a distant way. Albeit not specifically the inhabitants of these Cursed Lands, it left enough motivation to study them. Not only new cultures interested the druid. This vastly different flora  &  fauna did too.

One confident smile graced the half-insect's lips while lifting the present   —   the glass with little bugs, scuttling along the surface with greeting chitters.

   Shade, you truly are a gem . . .

"Protip: 'not that serious' and 'i'm bleeding a lot' don't really belong in the same sentence." she said as her eyebrows furrowed in concern. She reached into her back and pulled out a healing potion, offering it to Shade, a careful eye watching in case the bleeding was more serious than the potion could help with.

neyvin holds out the bowl of soup towards shade. it's a thick stew, mostly root vegetables that wouldn't go bad and some lentils. "you saved philip's life today, undoubtedly." they murmur, sitting beside the other once he is sure they have accepted the offering of food. "and for that, thank you." he said, "not just from me, but the others as well." neyvin gives a warm smile.

"they're a little frightened, but they will come around. it's been...hard." he said, looking back towards the inn. "apologies if it is not the finest stew, we'll need to get more supplies soon, once we can figure out where."

the road had been long, tiring, humiliating. time & time again, he was humbled by circumstance. the only thing keeping him hanging on was the occasional tadpole, the extra power to stay standing. it was getting to be too much though. every step through the shadow-cursed lands felt like a step closer to death, away from his family & towards hs inevitable demise. he'd almost lost faith that anyone he loved was still alive, out there somewhere waiting for him to find. 

perhaps this is why his heart leaps in his chest when shade approaches, with a familiar face in tow. there were many nights he'd lamented over the fire about how much he missed his hound, his most faithful companion in life. he would talk about his sweet, brown eyes & his hilariously tiny head compared the rest of his body. it's surreal to lay his eyes on the creature again & tears spring to his eyes. a grin splits his usually immovable features & he drops to his knees, arms open as fergie bounds towards him. 

" fergie!" he yells it, forgetting where they are & everything that's happened so far. the only thing he sees now is fergie... & shade. shade who found his heart, his soul, a new reason to get going. he kisses the dog on his forehead while the creature furiously wags his nub of a tail. ellis lifts his gaze after a long moment, wiping his wet eyes. his voice wavers in a way he would normally try to hide, but it's beyond him now. it's the happiest he's been in a long time & he owes it all to her. 

" he's alive, you found him, you saved him, you brought him home." he reluctantly pushes himself off of his knees, petting fergie on the way up. he scoops her into a tight hug, a sincere gesture he can't quite stop. he forgets about his fear, his trepidation. all he feels now is love, " i will never be able to repay you for this. "

☆ I suppose the dialogue I have going on. I've always noticed how I can get close to how a character speaks. But that could just be me who is noticing that.

☆ Aphra!! I will always empathize this but I love to interact with other characters outside of Constantin, De Sardet, and Kurt. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy those who do write those three, but I also love to see other characters being picked up as muses. Particularly Aphra and Petrus. Better yet, even see another Vasco rper running around.

Aubrey was the only one that seemed to be willing to follow her, driven by the concern that raced through her bloodstream until it felt that was all she was.
