So I'm rewatching season one, and something I had completely forgotten about happens. Sang-won calls Yi-kyung while she's fighting the spider monster.
Thanks to season 2 we know Sang-won's timeline goes;
Working as a scientist on the monster project.
Shows symptoms, volunteers for study.
Is tortured horrifically during "study", his fiancée is told he's dead.
Escapes the lab in the body of another scientist.
Gets with a group in a church, kills all of them.
Is found by the Shin Jung-seop gang, comes to green roof.
So timeline wise it only makes sense for him to call directly after his escape. He gets access to a body and a phone and immediately calls the woman he loves.....but then goes on to just start killing everyone with a care. Seemingly without giving a crap about Yi-kyung ever again. What happened?
Like season two has he directly finding her next to his own (original) body, passed out and suffering and he just walks away....
I really hope we get more (read ANY) interact between them in the final season.
Also in season one he stops Ji-su getting assulted, but is fine with torture and killing, what is his deal?!?
Please share you thoughts on this and his whole character, I need answers! XD

ZENITH ENTERTAINMENT is a fictional South Korean entertainment company. It was founded in 2016 by former SM Entertainment executive LEE TAEIN, shortly after his supposedly amicable departure from the company.
They are best known for their first and flagship group FABLE, who continues to be the only artist formed solely by the company. Zenith is also notable for the way CEO Taein notoriously inserts himself into the smallest of business decisions, and their refusal to take trainees since Fable’s debut.

(Spoilers for Sweet Home but gives context on his role in the drama)
Ui-myeong is the right hand of mercenary gang leader Shin Jung-seop. The group ambushed the remaining survivors of Green Home Mansion Apartment. The mercenaries torture the survivors, gathering them in a boundary circle, and shoot them if they cross the line. They tell the story of how they had encountered a chapel full of dead bodies, as a result of the people in there killing each other, showing how humans can be scarier than monsters.
Ui-myeong is the only member of the gang who is calm, rational, and understanding. He even stops one of the gang members, Kyeong-mo, who was hurting and harassing an injured Ji-su who pretended to be unconscious.
The mercenaries are ambushed and, during this attack, a resident named Seon-young then appears after escaping the room she was quarantining in while she fought with her monsterization. One of her arms is transformed, and she kills one of the gang members before heading towards Hyuk Lee (the leader of the group of survivors), but Hyun-su steps in to stop her, and she pierces him. Having no other choice, Hyun-su strangles her.
Jung-seop realizes Hyun-su isn’t ordinary and takes him to the roof. On the rooftop, Shin Jung-Seop wonders how to have fun with Hyun-su. He shoots at him while the others laugh and enjoy the scene. Just when he’s about to kill him, Ui-myeong transforms his arm, piercing Jung-seop and then drops him off the building. Another gang member shoots him in the neck, but he launches the bullet pack at him with a simple tilt of his head. Leaving only a terrified Kim Nam-il alive (another gang member), Ui-myeong reveals he is a monster similar to Hyun-su.
He reveals that he is the sole survivor from the church, and that joining the mercenaries was to disguise himself. When Hyun-su asks why he killed Jung-seop as they were on the same side, Ui-myeong laughs and says that a rabbit and a wolf can’t be on the same side, and that the rabbit was pretending to be a wolf, so he just played along. He also says that it isn’t a crime for a wolf to kill a rabbit after playing with it. Ui-myeong reveals that he is the sole survivor from the church, and that joining the mercenaries was to disguise himself.
Overhead, military pamphlets drop from a plane, asking the survivors to report any infected in return for guaranteed safety. Ui-myeong asks Hyun-su which side he will be on, once the survivors learn of the information on the pamphlet.
Wanting to prove that there are monsters that exist that don’t kill people, Hyun-su takes Ui-myeong to the Infant monster. Ui-myeong finds it surprising, but wonders if there are any humans that exist that won’t attack monsters if given the chance.
He tries to convince Hyun-su to leave with him because it’s just a matter of time before their neighbors will turn them over to the military after reading the pamphlets. At first Hyun-su isn’t convinced, but then he witnesses the survivors about to kill a slime monster that helped one of the children. Despite him saying it won’t harm them, the survivors kill it and Hyun-su realizes that monsters and humans really can’t co-exist, just like Ui-myeong told him.
The next day, two of the survivors try to make it to the entrance. One of them is suffering from an asthma attack and is out of inhalers and is being rushed out to try and find one outside. Ui-myeong throws them back. He doesn’t want them to leave in case they will alert the military of himself and Hyun-su. After realizing what’s going on, Hyun-su lets them go. However, they don’t get far because they’re shot in the back by Ui-myeong. This leads to him killing two other survivors, and a fight with Hyun-su.
Ui-myeong reveals that he was inside the body of the earlier resident (his monster form allows him to possess dead bodies and control them as his own) and the one who forced Hyun-su into thinking he killed her. This makes Hyun-su turn into his monster form, much to Ui-myeong’s delight, and he attacks Ui-myeong until he is nothing but goo.
Despite the destruction of his body, Ui-myeong can move around in his monster form and slithers into the armored vehicle the mercenaries used to break into the building. He escapes with it and, when Hyun-su wakes up after confronting the military at the end of the series, he realizes he’s in the very same vehicle. In the driver’s seat is Ui-myeong, who is possessing the body of the deceased Sang-wook.
* - Canon divergence from here because even thought Sweet Home now has a season two, I had already developed Ui-myeong beyond season one and my story for him turned out different to what the show decided. If I’m honest, season two was a mess and I had to look up ep summaries just to finish it. Because of this, Ui-myeong is now my own interpretation with zero connection to his actions in season two. He also isn’t Nam Sang-won because that is another plot point that makes literally no sense.
Ui-myeong ends up disposing Sang-wook’s body after finding another one that is better suited to him. His new face is this fc:

Still 17 / Thirty but Seventeen (2018)
Tumblr media
Overall, I liked this melodrama / romcom though I had some quibbles.
The premise is basically: "what would it be like if you went through a coma and skipped all of your late teens and twenties and woke up 30." I've seen this in a few movies (Big, 13 Going on 30, etc.).
Those movies used unexplained magic to cause the inciting incident. But the people who made this show decided to use a horrific accident where their best friend gets killed, their family abandons them, and the main character starts the first episode confused and homeless.
This is a pretty good example of the differences between Hollywood and K-drama-land...
What Worked
There were strong performances here, but Shin Hye-sun really carried this show. The premise could easily have turned maudlin or overly cute but Shin Hye-sun kept things grounded when they needed to be, while still making you empathize with the character.
The other characters were also pretty interesting (especially Jennifer!), and the writer and actors put alot of care into making them seem real when they could easily have been boring or flat. Even the antagonists (the jealous former rival, the handsy son-of-a-client, etc.) were mostly interesting, or at least fun to hate.
What Didn't Work
They shot this by splitting the (usually) hour long episodes into 35 mins, for commercial break reasons. This caused some issues with pacing / plotting. They also liked to tease the audience by dropping clues about connections that would move the plot forward, only to have the characters suddenly turn away from the "clue" and bury it for 4-5 episodes (or more). It makes sense for them to do that, in that it keeps the audience hooked and was much more common before binging / streaming became popular, but it still annoyed the crap out of me.
I also disliked the inability for the "adults" to have a serious conversation in the first half of the drama. Again, this was mostly for plot reasons, and had some justification with the past trauma aspect of the show, but it was frustrating. Another thing I disliked was the attempted love triangle thing between Yoo Chan and Seo-ri. They did a good job of handling the arc overall, but it just didn't land for me.
The Performances
Shin Hye-sun as ("still 17") Woo Seo-ri. I loved this performance. The overall arc for the character, which is basically "poor little orphan makes good" isn't groundbreaking, but Hye-sun managed to keep the character fresh and fun to watch. And that made the moments of sadness hit even harder.
Yang Se-jong as ("poor trauma boy") Gong Woo-jin. Another good performance. I liked the chemistry he had with Hye-sun's character, but what made this work was the way Yang Se-jong managed to portray the slow change from weird mountain man shunned by society, to hardworking family man, while still keeping the core goodness of the character intact.
Ahn Hyo-seop as ("the good nephew") Yoo Chan. This guy was fun to watch, and made a great foil (comedic and emotional) for the two leads. I especially liked the way they showed his differences in language (from living overseas part-time) and his upbeat attitude overall. The show would have been much more depressing without the lighter moments that he brought to it.
Ye Ji-won as ("the housekeeper") Jennifer. This character was straight out of a Wes Anderson film, and I loved the decision to play her that way. I liked Ye Ji-won in her role as the quirky mom in Introverted Boss but this was much more fun and memorable. I don't know that kdramas really need more housekeepers with martial arts skills and an encyclopedic memory of weird facts, but I for one would enjoy more characters like that.
Jung Yoo-jin as ("noona boss") Kang Hee-soo. I liked her in Romance is a Bonus Book and it's nice to see her in a more laid-back role. Enjoyed her interactions with Seo-ri and Woo-jin.
Lee Ah-hyun as ("absent mother") Gong Hyun-jung. Not in very many episodes, but I really enjoyed the scenes she was in. Just a cool character.
Ahn Seung-gyun as ("quirky coworker") Jin Hyun. He was fun to watch, but I never understood what his deal was, other than just being young and quirky.
The Rowing Crew. These guys were fun to watch, but kind of interchangeable.
Yoon Sun-woo as ("the doctor") Kim Hyung-tae. The actor did okay with what he was given, but it was basically another fake love triangle which I didn't like, followed by some minor character stuff which was only kind of interesting.
Wang Ji-won as ("the rival") Kim Tae-rin. I have mixed feelings about the character. I liked the sort of flashback / arrested development thing, but I feel like the resolution to this was maybe too fast. But the actor did a good job and I felt some real feels at times.
The Bad Client. I hated this guy, which shows that he did a good job. A little bit of a stereotype, but (like with loansharks and fascists), I never get tired of seeing this type of guy get what's coming to him.
So-ri's Family. Not really memorable, but they did a good job for the most part.
TL; DR:
It's billed as a romcom, but it's at least equal parts melodrama. Frustrating and endearing at times, but it's worth watching just to see Shin Hye-sun and Yang Se-jong at work.

sorry if this is a hefty question, lol, but can you recommend any good k-dramas? period or otherwise is fine! i've got no preferences for tropes or anything :) as long as it's on netflix uk i'm good.
Oh, this is fun! I write blurbs about shows under the tag kalena watches kdramas and track my kdramas with MyDramaList. I love to rec stuff so I’ve definitely got some good ones for you. All of these should be on Netflix.
Stranger | This murder mystery/political thriller will keep you on your toes as a stoic prosecutor and intrepid detective join forces to discover the truth and find the mole who threatens to undermine everything in the first season. And this is one of the rare kdramas that got a second season, where our leads deal with more murder and government corruption as they test the bounds of their friendship and their own morality to in order to get results. It stars Cho Seung Woo and Bae Doona and their unlikely partnership is everything. Great ensemble cast too!
Business Proposal | This over-the-top, trope-filled romcom is so much fun! A Chaebol heiress convinces her cash-strapped best friend to pretend to be her for money to ruin a blind date that was set up by her father. But chaos ensues when the blind date turns out to be the president of the company where the cash-strapped woman works. You will never think of Samantha and Rachel the same again. When the glasses come off and the Namsan Tower looms large, prepare to fan yourself. lol And hopefully you will fall in love with our screeching Archaeopteryx too. Stars Ahn Hyo Seop and Kim Se Jeong.
Hometown Cha Cha Cha | A big-city dentist moves to a sleepy seaside town shaking up the locals’ peacefully routines, especially the town’s beloved and handsome handyman. This is a funny and healing drama. Get ready to sooth your prickly hedgehog as our leads sparring sparks all kinds of churning emotions. Besides the main romance, the townspeople all have their own love and hurt to work through as well forming a great found family community. Stars Shin Min Ah and Kim Seon Ho.
Alchemy of Souls | A period fantasy epic equal parts comedy, action, and drama has been split into two parts. The first part of 20 episodes which just aired covers two-thirds of the story and then second part of 10 episodes coming in December covers the final third. It’s about a skilled assassin who switches bodies to save herself and ends up being reluctantly recruited to train a young master in sword fighting and spells as they slowly become entangled in the conflict that is taking over the kingdom. I am so here for bickering ride-or-die couples and this show does not disappoint. I love the humor, intrigue, romance, and symbolism. The story’s not done yet but I’m fully on board. Stars Lee Jae Wook, Jung So Min, and Go Youn Jung.
Vincenzo | A Korean attorney for the Italian mafia returns to his native country for a gold heist but ends up getting caught between residents of the plaza where the gold is hidden and the conglomerate who wants to tear down the building. It’s got outrageous comedy, especially from the residents who eventually form a found family who fight for each other. It’s got drama with twists and turns, and torture and murder befitting a show about who’s more evil—the mafia or corporations. It’s got a little bit of romance, ‘art’, and all the slow-mo your heart desires. Save some bird seed for Inzaghi and pour yourself a glass of wine. Stars Song Joong Ki, Jeon Yeo Bin, and Ok Taecyeon.
Navillera | An elderly man decides to fulfill his childhood dream to study ballet. He ends up finding a teacher in a reluctant young ballerino and they form an unlikely friendship. So good. I laughed and cried. Stars Park In Wan and Song Kang.
100 Days My Prince | A Joseon-era Crown Prince loses his memory after an assassination attempt on his life and stumbles into a marriage of convenience with his childhood sweetheart, who doesn’t recognize him as an adult and is in hiding due to her family being murdered and branded traitors. The romance is funny and sweet with the right amount of action and drama to keep the story moving along. Stars Do Kyung Soo, Nam Ji Hyun, and Kim Seon Ho.
Tomorrow | A rag-tag team of grim reapers are tasked with preventing people from committing suicide. They are joined by a human in a coma trying to shorten his time asleep. Rival team leaders Ryeon and Joong Gil have a chemistry and history that will keep you wanting more. It can be dark but it’s also hopeful and funny. Stars Kim Hee Sun, Rowoon, and Lee Soo Hyuk.
Our Beloved Summer | A school’s top student and worst student end up in documentary together and fall in love. 10 years later the producers decide to a film a follow up to see where they are now, awkwardly reuniting the now ex-lovers whose fortunes have reversed with the top student struggling in her job and the worst student having become a respected artist. Sparking conflict but maybe also rekindling their love. Stars Choi Woo Shik and Kim Da Mi.
Sisyphus: The Myth | This was my first kdrama and it really captivated me. I’m a big sci-fi fantasy fan and this show had some interesting time travel concepts I’ve never seen done that way before. I particularly liked episode 11. The ending of this show was very divisive: it was like a Rorschach test because you could see it as open, bittersweet or happy depending on your view. I liked the ending and have my own views on it, but I feel like a need to caution you because I’m in the minority. Stars Cho Seung Woo and Park Hye Shin.
I hope this list a good place to start (or continue) your kdrama journey. Also, if you ever decide to get Viki, here are my top recs for there: Doom At Your Service, The Red Sleeve, Goblin, Happiness, Imitation, Sh**ting Stars, Let Me Be Your Knight, So I Married the Anti-Fan, Hot Stove League, 365: Repeat the Year.

Kendisine en net The Beauty Inside dizisinden aşinayım.  İkisinin de ayrı ayrı trajik hikayeleri arka planda ilerlerken küçük hastanenin hastaları, hastane içinde olan olaylar diziyi götürüyordu. Doktor dizilerinde her bölüm tanıştığımız hastalar asıl hikayeyi şekillendiriyor.

Republican Party Divides into Two Factions
By The Correspondent
On the 4th, Republican Party was unable to resolve the conflict between pro-Korean National Youth Association(KNYA) faction and anti-KNYA faction within a few days of its foundation, and eventually split. Because both factions were trying to maintain their sign "Republican Party" each other, as things stand, two Republican parties seem to exist. On the 4th, pro-KNYA faction released a statement in the name of chairmen. In response, as an anti-KNYA faction and one of the members of the supreme council, Chang Taek-sang issued a statement retorting this. Anti-KNYA faction within the party reportedly met on the night of the 3rd and decided to expel all of pro-KNYA faction, including Lee Beom-seok, one of the members of the supreme council.
Pro-Korean National Youth Association Faction
On the 4th, they issued a statement explaining the internal dispute in the name of delegates and chairmen of the party central committee. "At the press conferences, Chang Taek-sang insists that the 1st meeting of the party central committee is illegal and a one-sided meeting of one faction. But that meeting was held with about 270 members, more than half of the 442 members, and Lee Beom-seok was nominated with 198 votes as a result of voting for the vice presidential candidate." They also justified their last meeting and criticized their opposition faction. "The party central committee was legally convened when the highest resolution body of the party was delegated by the nation. On the other hand, the guys are ignoring the principle of the party organization by continuing to demand an additional 75 delegates, even though the agenda was rejected at the last meeting. And calling us "Collusion of pro-KNYA faction" is a harmful statement against the same political party."
At the time, there were five temporary chairmen: Yun Jae-wook, Shin Jung-mok, Chung Hyun-mo, Kim Dal-hyun, and Oh Sung-hwan. The common political view sees Mr. Oh as a pro-Chang Taek-sang and the other four chairmen as pro-KNYA faction. Mr. Oh said he did not know about this announcement of the statement, and Mr. Kim cannot reportedly any remarks because he is currently staying in his hometown.
Anti-Korean National Youth Association Faction
Anti-KNYA faction within Republican Party met at the downtown restaurant Donghaeru on the night of the last 3rd to write a statement pointing out the illegality of the convocation and resolution of the party central committee by pro-KNYA faction, while deciding to expel the party members including Lee Beom-seok.
In addition, Oh Sung-hwan, Kim Dae-jung, Son Chang-seop, and Yang Sang-geun, who led the meeting, stated that they had received approval and signatures from more than 240 delegates of the party on the agreement. Interestingly, their statement also has a phrase that praises the statement saying, "The Korean National Youth Association divides the nation," issued by President Rhee Syngman on September 29, 1953.

The battle in the basement of the apartment building, where we see Nam-san use a shotgun to blast his way through some of the doctor’s ‘enhanced’ individuals, is a total exhilarating blast. Ma Dong-seok has been a powerhouse for most of his career post Train to Busan, but he sends people flying whenever he throws his fist or pulls the trigger. _Badland Hunters_ also has to break a record for most decapitations in a film. **Full review:** https://bit.ly/bdlndhntr MovieGuys: Badland Hunters does something things well, others just passably. Action is wall to wall and well choreographed.Special effects are excellent. Characterisations are solid if predictable and the acting is not to be sniffed at. However, the story is unremarkable, with a climax that feels, well, anti climatic. In summary, an okay but hardly exceptional watch, that would have benefited from more creativity on the storytelling front. Ritesh Mohapatra: “Badland Hunters: A Visually Striking Action Spectacle with Narrative Shortcomings” In this post-apocalyptic action thriller, Badland Hunters, while suffering from a repetitive and clichéd plot and uninteresting characters, excels in stunning hand-to-hand choreography and scintillating action set pieces. The film benefits greatly from the expertise of its veteran stunt coordinator turned director, known for his work on Train to Busan. Commendable world-building, visionary concepts, and excellent VFX are hindered by conventional writing. The short, crisply edited runtime avoids unnecessary elements. Don Lee’s exceptional portrayal of Nam-san, with exhilarating action sequences, overshadows the film’s narrative weaknesses, making it a guiltily satisfying popcorn-worthy entertainer, particularly for adrenaline enthusiasts.
