2. 5 favourites of your own work?

most recently, the cover arts i did for my novel SUDDENCE, which i haven't revealed in full yet, but i can give some snips...

14. How has your art changed over the years?

in terms of my personal art (which means, excluding pieces i did for art class and such), i started out with pencil / pen because i didn't have a tablet / i couldn't operate a drawing tablet finely enough to get good lines, and i coloured with pencil crayons or coloured pens:

then i advanced to scanning these drawings into the computer and colouring them digitally:

at some point i got sliiiightly comfortable enough to do everything digitally:

i remember at the time i felt like my progress was sooooo slow, but this is all from the same month in 2015. i was progressing FAST.

then in 2016, this is the first fully digital art i was truly proud of:

you can see it's a lot more realistic than my current art style. i liked my art, but i was also desperate to learn how to cartoonize and stylize, something i kept struggling with. i wanted SHAPES.

fast forwarding to 2019--this is still quite "realistic", but you can start to see some Shapes™ happening in the ears (wow wait look at all the textures i gave this. i need to get my texture game back)

2021: i finally got a more cartoony style!

and now, i'm still drawing a lot more cartoony than i used to:

which i do really like! it lets me play with face shapes and distinctions! but now, looking back on my older art, i think i do want textures to have a comeback.

18. Do you have any larger projects you’d like to pursue? Like comics, shortfilm, a series etc?

to have an animated series / movie of my own. i did originally kind of envision SUDDENCE as a short limited series / movie; i would looooove to get it made. maybe after i publish it i can try pitching it at work...

otherwise, i also really want to make an animated music video! having made two short films during my work break, i'm confident that i can handle it. the problem will just be time, which i won't have much of now that i'm back at my job. the idea i have right now is about an art thief and the museum guard who is hellbent on catching her, only to find she may be catching feelings instead. i wanted something fun and goofy like genghis khan by miike snow, but for the girlies!!

Do you know any thai BL dramas with sad ending?

Oh, dear anon, do I ever. 😭

A (probably incomplete) list of Thai BL without a HEA*

Grey Rainbow (2016) - This BL takes no prisoners. This BL wants to see you suffer. It's so sad. So unfair (it also comes with a SA content warning). But also really good. It's a quiet and short series that comes with time jumps and a friends to lovers/pining theme.

Dear Doctor I'm Coming for Soul (2022) - Coincidentally, this stars the same acting pair (Karn Kasidej & Nut Nutchapon) as the series above. It's a love story between a doctor and a soul reaper - and it's probably easy to see why there won't be a classic HEA. It's very bittersweet, and probably a lot harder to digest for Western audiences.

Something in my Room (2022) - Another supernatural BL, but this time it's a love story between a boy and a ghost. It's bittersweet for same reasons Dear Doctor is. I cried my heart out at the end.

He She It (2020) - This is a tragedy with a cruel twist.

Peach of Time (2021) - This is a Korean-produced BL but it also stars Jimmy Karn and Tommy Sittichok (who both speak Thai in the series). It's a very soft and sad love story between a boy and a ghost. Bring tissues.

The Effect (2019) - This BL (if it even is one) is extremely dark. It's like an anti-BL (and comes with several content warnings for SA, self-harm and bullying). It takes common BL tropes and completely and cruelly demolishes them. I'm not even sure if it's necessarily what you're looking for since it's just so incredibly harsh in every single aspect but you're probably going to stumble upon it anyway. In the strictest sense it probably doesn't count since it mostly deals with the aftermath of an unspeakable act. The ending isn't sad... it just is.

The Blue Hour (2015) - An absolutely mesmerising movie by Anucha Boonyawatana (Not Me) starring Gun Atthaphan and Oab Oabnithi. It starts bleak, and then it gets bleaker from there. There's some horror and lots of violence mixed in for good measure. Personally, I love this movie, but I couldn't objectively tell you how it ends. It's like a fever dream.

Red Wine in the Dark Night (2015) - Thailand's only vampire BL so far, starring a very talented Fluke Natouch. It's bleak, then it's somewhat hopeful, then everything turns from bad to worse. It's got the same surreal quality to it as The Blue Hour.

The Best Story (2021) - A short and grounded BL starring Yin Anan and War Wanarat (Love Mechanics) about a secret/unrequited schoolboy crush.

Childhood (2023) - A beautifully filmed shortfilm about an unrequited crush. This is indie-produced and very recent so I'm adding a link.

The Luminous Solution (2023) - This BL has two pairings and a very surprising twist. What it lacks in execution it makes up with storytelling and foreshadowing. It's about endings and beginnings with some magic thrown in for good measure.

He's Coming To Me (2019) - This BL probably has the softest of sad endings of all the series/movies in this list. It's bittersweet because as ghost love story it's "doomed" from the start.

The Miracle of Teddy Bear (2022) - This series is a lot. But completely worth it, even if the ending leaves you like ?? ???

180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us (2022) - This isn't a classic BL (as in: it wasn't intended as one but received and promoted as such). It's all about the interpersonal story it wants to tell and less about the pairing. The ending doesn't really come as a surprise but, oh my, this series is so beautiful.

Chains of Heart (2023) - I forgot my favourite show (maybe because it's my fave so I don't necessarily think of it as sad - plus, the novel actually has a HEA). But yeah, fate and revenge stand in the way of this couple ending up together. 😭

a moomin fanart i did when the 3rd season of moominvalley 2019 was airing! ngl i hated this one when i was done with it and couldn't even look at it for a while lol. but eventually i figured i was too hard on it and now i really like how i did the bg texturing and colors

some okami fanart from 2021! i like how i did the composition and i'd totally make a print for myself if i knew how lol

some souyo fanart i made last november 😀😀 imo it's not the most interesting comp (and w/o knowing the context of the scene it's hard to tell what it's even about lol) but i like the palette i chose and how i rendered it. was a one hit wonder for me tho i can't figure out how to replicate the style 😭

more p4 fanart but of yukichie this time... i had a good time with this one bc doing blocky colors makes my amoeba brain go brrr and it has yukichie so. self indulgent automatic fav LOL 👉👈👉👈

ik i post almost exclusively fanart atm but man i'd love to make a comic or smth with my ocs 🥲 or just make more comics about the stuff i like in general but i'm not too good with long projects... also i have a pipe dream of making a videogame but in consideration of my lazy ass ain't no way thats gonna happen so i just fantasize about it now and then FNJDHFJSDH

sure, there's been a comic idea that ive been throwing around since 2019. it'll be stuck in the planning stage forever it seems, but it's nice to think about

for non-original works though i really want to try and roughly storyboard all of the revues from arcana arcadia

how i feel about hiccstrid, a ship i used to mildly enjoy until it got so overwhelmingly heteronormative

so obviously. i’m aromantic asexual, more specifically i’m apothiaroace and shipping very quickly gets dodgy for me the first few years of httyd i thought hiccstrid was fine. i was also 7 so it’s not like i had much of an opinion on romance, but regardless. it didn’t bother me and i liked their relationship* (< note the asterisk) entering 2016 - 2017 i started to become... hesitant, rtte was doing more romantic stuff involving them and it ... i wasn’t a Huge fan of it y’know? i think romance in shows is annoying when it’s all about dragons n shit when i found out that they started dating in blindspot (which i didn’t watch until 2022) it. urked me for some reason i never really thought of hiccstrid as explicitly Romance but more just oh yeah friends but they can kiss ig idk  coming into 2019 i started to really not like hiccstrid, esp after seeing what they were doing with it in modern years. it was all so heteronormative, hiccup is the boy astrid is the girl, he’s her husband she’s his wife type of thing (plus i started hcing hiccup as aroace)  when i watch how they portrayed hiccstrid in httyd 2010 compliant material (first film, shortfilms, riders + defenders) it’s fine. sure i’m PERSONALLY averse to kissing but i can deal with it because the romantic aspect isn’t absurdly obvious and defining their relationship. they can talk to eachother outside of boyfriend girlfriend but when i see how their relationship is portrayed post 2013 it’s...... bleh? especially those last few years of the main franchise (2017 - 2019). it feels like they lost all spunk to their relationship and only exist to kiss eachother and stare allosexually into eachother’s eyes when i think abt hiccstrid in the early days i’m like ya :) they’re fine together :) but that’s because it didn’t change how they interact with eachother. they could be normal, banter and get silly not to mention what it did to characters and plots. shit from snotlout not trusting the two to astrid completely losing her edge and having to rely on her husband for everything (do NOT make me go into a thing abt astrid’s character and her acting like that likely due to trauma but also her softening up does not help her character) hiccstrid i like when it’s just the two being close and stuff, it’s nice seeing them get along so well and whatnot which is why i think they work so well as a qpr. whenever you have the dating element it fundamentally alters their relationship in a way that makes both less interesting also the shippers are some of the most heternormative and amanormative people i’ve ever seen my god goodbye
